A trailer for "Waking the Demon", the next promo video and U.S. single from BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's sophomore album, "Scream Aim Fire" (Jive/Zomba), can be viewed at this location. The clip will receive its online premiere on Wednesday, April 16 on MySpace.

Getting bullied in school — it's every young student's worst nightmare, and the basis of "Waking the Demon". "Waking the Demon" is probably the hardest song on BULLET's album and has its roots in the bandmembers' own experiences of getting beat up at school because they had long hair or because they were in a band.

According to BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's vocalist/lyricist Matt Tuck, "'Waking the Demon' is about finding someone's inner demon. Most of us in the band got pushed around in school so the song is about getting tormented, day in and day out for years, and then one day — 'snap!' — like that!"

The video for "Walking the Demon" was written and directed by Max Nichols (son of Academy Award-winning director Mike).

On April 12, 2007, UK gothic metal pioneers PARADISE LOST played a sold-out show at the Koko club in the heart of Camden, London to record a DVD. Fans and media from all over the world came to the beautiful Baroque style venue to celebrate a band that, 20 years since its conception in 1988, is still one of the most exciting bands of their self-defined genre.

Starting with the UK live debut of "The Enemy" from PARADISE LOST's latest album "In Requiem" (which came out one month later), the setlist includes songs the band hadn't played live in a long time prior to that night, such as "Eternal" and "Gothic" from their 1991 album "Gothic", the rare B-side "Sweetness" from their 1994 "Seals The Sense" single and other classics from their impressive album roster. With a tracklist like this it's easy to win over the audience and be rewarded with enthusiastic feedback, but even the highly critical UK press were convinced by the band's honest and pure energy.

The live show was filmed and directed by Paul M Green and his Dash Productions team (who previously worked with OPETH, THE DAMNED, GARY NUMAN and many more). Jens Bogren (OPETH, KATATONIA, AMON AMARTH, SYMPHONY X, etc.) mixed the brilliantly captured live sound at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden, and the dark enchanting cover artwork was done again by Greek artist Seth who already worked on the band's last two album covers.

Kentucky's BLACK STONE CHERRY has uploaded more video footage from the recording sessions for the group's sophomore album at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. Watch the clip below.

German melodic metallers EVIDENCE ONE have announced the addition of guitarist Barish Kepic (POWERWORLD, ex-JADED HEART) to the group's ranks.

"After Warthy [Jörg Wartmann] simply couldn't find the time to concentrate on EVIDENCE ONE, we had Barish in to do our recent live shows and tours, and, well, we couldn't let him go!" the band writes in a statement.

EVIDENCE ONE's latest album, entitled "The Sky is the Limit", was released last year via AFM Records. The follow-up to 2004's "Tattooed Heart" was written and produced by songwriter Robby Böbel, who quit his position as the group's guitarist but will continue to be involved with the band behind the scenes. A video for the song "The Sky is the Limit" was filmed at the Rockfabrik Nuremberg with Maurice Swinkels (lead singer of Dutch metal band LEGION OF THE DAMNED) of Holland's Lowlife Media (MASTERPLAN, PRIMAL FEAR, EXODUS) and can be viewed below.

STRATOVARIUS guitarist Timo Tolkki's new project REVOLUTION RENAISSANCE will release its debut album, "New Era", on June 6 via Frontiers Records. According to a press release, the CD "is a masterpiece of melodic power metal, taking the listener straight back to the 'Visions'-era STRATOVARIUS. In fact, 'New Era' is the album that was meant to be the next STRATOVARIUS album.

"Timo called a few friends for the recording sessions and the album features all the lead vocals from such legends as Michael Kiske [HELLOWEEN] and Tobias Sammet [EDGUY, AVANTASIA], along with Timo's blistering lead guitar lines and melodic power metal anthems that made him one of the pioneers of the style and trademark performers of the style. Peaceville Records has set an April 28 release date for MY DYING BRIDE's "An Ode to Woe", a two-disc live CD/DVD in digibook packaging.

The show — which was originally streamed on the online concert channel Fabchannel.com — was filmed at the world-famous Paradiso, Amsterdam, Holland, in April 2007. The legendary venue (previous performers include NICK CAVE, THE ROLLING STONES, NIRVANA and the SEX PISTOLS) provides the perfect setting for this special gig.

Swedish newcomers SONIC SYNDICATE recently entered Black Lounge Studios in Avesta, Sweden with producer Jonas Kjellgren (SCAR SYMMETRY) to begin recording the follow-up to last year's critically acclaimed "Only Inhuman" CD. Recording sessions will continue until the end of April, with the album tentatively scheduled for release in August via Nuclear Blast Records.

SONIC SYDICATE made its U.S. live debut with AMON AMARTH and HIMSA. The band will return in May as direct support to NIGHTWISH.

SONIC SYNDICATE's video for the song "Enclave" has been posted at YouTube. The track comes off the Swedish metal band's sophomore CD, "Only Inhuman", which entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 64 — an impressive feat considering the group had never performed in the country prior to the album's release. The CD also landed at No. 22 on the Swedish chart.

PAIN, the Swedish metal band fronted by HYPOCRISY's Peter Tägtgren, filmed its April 6, 2008 concert at the sold-out Zenith in Paris, France for possible use as "bonus shit on the next album." According to the group, Paris was "the best crowd we ever had, on any tour, ever."

Norwegian gothic metal band SIRENIA — which parted ways with Danish singer Monika Pedersen last fall after only one album due to "musical differences" — has issued the following update:

"Sirenia is finally ready to introduce their new female singer. Ailyn - Born 1982 in Barcelona, now settled in Granada, Spain. Ailyn has been strongly attached to music all her life, and began singing at an early age. Later on she studied singing at The School of Music Albéniz, and obtained singing lessons with several singing teachers around Spain. In the past she’s been singing and performing all kinds of styles and genres, but in 2004 she discovered the sounds of metal combined with atmospheric and classical elements, this style of music made a big impression and she knew right away in which direction she wanted to take her career. Sirenia has done pre-productions of several new songs and recognizes that Ailyn’s voice match perfectly with the new songmaterial. The band is very pleased to have Ailyn onboard and we all look forward to a future collaboration.

After several months of searching and auditioning, the search for a new singer is finally over. It has been a busy period for us with more than 500 singers showing their interest in the singer position. SIRENIA's latest album, "Nine Destinies and a Downfall", entered the German Media Control chart in March 2007 at position No. 54. The CD was recorded at Jailhouse studios in Norway with engineer Hans Eidsgard and Soundsuite studios in France with Terje Refsnes and was mixed and mastered at Antfarm studios in Aarhus, Denmark with Tue Madsen.

Bassist Michael McKeegan of the long-running Irish rock band THERAPY? has issued the following update:

"Progress on the new songs is going really great and to date we have eleven more or less finished plus another billion or so ideas to sift through. The plan (and as usual this will probably change!) is to keep rehearsing/writing through April, quickly demo the tunes and then take our time recording it through May/June... that's as much as we know at the minute but rest assured the three of us are very excited about this material. The only other snippet of news is that we'll be producing the album ourselves so we can hopefully keep the recording as 'true' and as vibey as possible."

THERAPY? recently inked a deal with Demolition Records.

A compilation of THERAPY?'s various BBC recordings was released in February 2007. It was available exclusively on iTunes for two weeks, and then through all good download stores.

THERAPY?'s latest album, "One Cure Fits All", was released in April 2006. The follow-up to 2004's "Never Apologise Never Explain" was produced by Pedro Ferriera, who had previously worked with COLOUR OF FIRE, THE DARKNESS and TOKYO DRAGONS, among others.

NINE INCH NAILS' official web site, www.nin.com, has been updated with a brand new photo of former NIN guitarist Robin Finck with the short message "Welcome back!" next to it. Guitarist Rich Fownes — who has played with UNKLE and has been a member of WITH SCISSORS and THE EIGHTIES MATCHBOX B-LINE DISASTER — is also listed as being part of the revamped NINE INCH NAILS lineup. According to the Don't Tell Your Friends music news blog, Finck and Fownes will join Trent Reznor, Alessandro Cortini and Josh Freese for a world tour beginning July in North America.

Finck has served in numerous touring configurations of NIN, from tours supporting "The Downward Spiral" (1994-1997) to "The Fragile" (2000-2001). More recently, he played in GUNS N' ROSES.

The upcoming tour will feature the live debut of material from the recently released "Ghosts I-IV" alongside songs spanning the entire NIN catalogue.

Swedish "viking metallers" THYRFING have issued the following update:

"This weekend we started the recordings of the sixth album! The album will be co-produced by THYRFING and Jörgen Svensson of Tyroon Production. The recordings and mixing will take place between April and June and the album is scheduled for release through Regain Records in October. THYRFING last year announced the addition of Jens Rydén as the band's new vocalist. Jens is best known as founding member and ex-vocalist of NAGLFAR and for his one-man army PROFUNDI.

THYRFING's fifth album, "Farsotstider" (in English: "Times of Plague"), was released in November 2005 via Regain Records. The follow-up to 2002's "Vansinnesvisor" (Hammerheart Records) was recorded at EMI Studio in Stockholm with producer Henrik Edenhed (LAMBRETTA, THE SOUNDS).

"Kieli hanurissa" (Finnish for "Tongue in ass") comes off the group's latest album, "Peräaukko Sivistyksessä" (Finnish for "Asshole in Civilization"), which came out in November through Finland's Kråklund Records.

Music's "Chart Watch", METALLICA is in fifth place on Nielsen SoundScan's list of top-selling album artists, with cumulative sales of 48,867,000 in the United States since the scanning service set up shop in May 1991. They'll hit the 50 million mark around the summer of 2009.

The LP shifted 258,000 units in the U.S. in 2007 to bring total sales to 15,077,000 (as of the close of 2007) and closing the gap to the No. 1 album on the list, SHANIA TWAIN's "Come on Over", by 372,000 units. If these percentages keep up, "Metallica" will overtake "Come on Over" during 2009.

According to Bulgaria's News.bg, legendary heavy metal band METALLICA will be paid a "record fee" of $1.6 million for its July 25 performance at the 44,000-capacity Vasil Levski Stadium in Sofia, Bulgaria. Meanwhile, KISS will reportedly receive $650,000 for its May 16 concert at the city's 18,000-capacity Akademik Stadium.

Faroe Islands metallers TÝR will release their fourth full-length album, "Land", on May 30 in Europe and June 10 in the U.S. via Napalm Records. According to the band, the follow-up to 2006's "Ragnarok" "contains mostly Faeroese, but also Icelandic and Norwegian traditionals, re-arranged into heavy metal. The second most prevalent language is English." The CD was recorded at Jacob Hansen's (RAUNCHY, ROB ROCK, HATESPHERE, MERCENARY) studio in Ribe, Denmark.

Dutch female-fronted symphonic metallers EPICA will celebrate the five-year anniversary of the release of their debut album, "The Phantom Agony", by performing the CD in its entirety at Tivoli in Utrecht, The Netherlands on May 16.

EPICA is currently utilizing the services of singer-songwriter and vocal coach Amanda Somerville as the stand-in vocalist for the band's North American tour with SYMPHONY X after the group's regular singer, Simone Simons, was infected with Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA), also known as the hospital bacteria.

Nuclear Blast Records released a limited deluxe CD edition in Europe of EPICA's new album, "The Divine Conspiracy", featuring the bonus tracks "Higher High" and "Replica" (FEAR FACTORY cover), video clips and a "making-of" enhanced section.

Night Of The Vinyl Dead will release the ARCH ENEMY's "Stigmata" album (originally issued in 1998 on CD only) on limited-edition blue vinyl (333 hand-numbered copies) later this month.

Long-running Seattle metallers METAL CHURCH have issued the following update:

"After an overwhelming response to the album cover art [contest] for our new release, we have finally decided on a wining cover. The artist's name is Rainer Kalwitz from Germany who is amazingly talented.

"Due to so many talented entries, we have decided to incorporate several of the other submissions for the inner sleeve of the CD. This has really shown us what dedicated fans we have that truly understand our music and we are so fortunate to have the best fans in the world. We raise the horns to you, the Congregation!

"We would also like to take this time to thank each and every one of you for your hard work, and for all of you that gave your opinions on the art we put up on our MySpace page. The ones on the MySpace page are only a fraction of the entries we received so you can imagine the difficult decisions we were faced with when choosing the winner.

"Once we have had a chance to contact everyone whose artwork we have decided on, we will release their names. All artists' names will also appear on the CD with a very special thanks.

The group recently parted ways with guitarist Jay Reynolds (also of MALICE) for "personal reasons." A replacement guitarist has not yet been announced.
