HIM: 'Live At The Orpheum Theatre' CD/DVD Due In MarchFinnish "love metallers" HIM will release their new CD/DVD, "Digital Versatile Doom: Live at the Orpheum Theatre", on March 11 through Warner. The set was recorded/filmed at the band's November 14-15, 2007 concerts at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles.
HIM's latest video, "Bleed Well", which features footage for from the Los Angeles shows, can be viewed below.
HIM frontman Ville Valo recently spoke to Straight.com about his songwriting process. "It's very hard to sing about sunshine and ice cream and birds in fast cars . . . I'm a miserable bastard when it comes to writing music," he said. "I love melancholy music, and I love the darker aspects when it comes to, like, popular music. I've always been a big fan of [BLACK] SABBATH and all that, so obviously they've been a big influence on me, and I wanted to write music that would have a similar kind of gloomy atmosphere to it."
In 2003, HIM released an album called "Love Metal", which featured a gold "heartagram" — a cross between a heart and a pentagram — on the cover. The group has trademarked that yin-yang symbol, which Valo created the day after his 20th birthday, and has taken the "love metal" concept to heart.
"When we started out, a lot of people had a hard time deciding which category we belonged to, because we had the sort of SABBATH-y thing, but at the end of the day we're singing love songs," Ville said. "It wasn't goth and it wasn't rock and it wasn't metal–it was something in between. One of the first songs we ever played was 'Wicked Game' by CHRIS ISAAK, where we put all the really fuzzy, heavy guitars on it, so I guess love metal just sounded good. And you actually have to be a proper man to be able to say that you like love metal."

BLOODBATH: More EP, DVD Details RevealedSwedish death metal "supergroup" BLOODBATH announced earlier today that OPETH's Mikael Åkerfeldt has laid down the vocal tracks for the band's new mini-CD, which is expected to be issued later in the year. "It's been kept secret since the summer of 2007 when Mike was asked to record vocals for four new tracks destined to be released as the 'Unblessing of Purity' EP," reads a posting on the OPETH web site. "Also, the now legendary Wacken 2005 appearance DVD will come out in a near future through Peaceville Records. On top of this, there are plans to record another full-length record which will be the third since the band was formed in 1999. This will possibly be recorded during 2008."
BLOODBATH 2008 is:
Mikael Åkerfeldt - Vocals
Anders "Blakkheim" Nyström - Guitar
Per "Sodomizer" Eriksson - Guitar
Jonas Renkse - Bass
Martin "Axe" Axenrot – Drums
Check out a photo of the new lineup at this location.
BLOODBATH's latest album, "Nightmares Made Flesh", received a U.S. release in March 2005 via Century Media Records. Due to the long gap between the European and North American release dates, the American version was enhanced with two bonus songs taken from a previously unreleased demo recording of "Breeding Death" EP, as well as a different front cover, featuring artwork by Wes Benscoter.

ALTARIA Parts Ways With Label, BassistFinnish melodic metallers ALTARIA have issued the following update:
"ALTARIA has parted ways with record company Metal Heaven and is currently negotiating a new contract. Material for the fourth album, which earlier was scheduled to be released in 2007, is basically ready just waiting to be recorded and unleashed upon the world this year.
"In the aftermath of this split, bass player Marko Pukkila decided to quit. ALTARIA will not look for a replacement and the bass will as of now be handled by Marco Luponero who in his previous band TERRORWHEEL also held the position as bassist/vocalist. Rehearsals have shown that the band now is working better than ever as a solid and creative unit and the ALTARIA camp is very exited about everything going on in the 'History Of Times To Come'."
ALTARIA last year posted samples of two new tracks "Keeper of Mystique" and "Ball and Chain" on its MySpace page. The songs can be found on the band's "Divine Invitation" compilation and are the first tracks to feature the new members Marco Luponero on vocals and Petri Aho on guitar.
ALTARIA previously stated about the "Divine Invitation" CD: "Due to the high demand and ongoing requests for the songs of the completely sold-out first two albums of the band, 'Invitation' (2003) and 'Divinity' (2004), the idea came up to make the best five songs each available again, to introduce new singer Marco Luponero with two brand new songs and add another seven (!) bonus tracks which originally appeared on the band's sought-after demos 'Sleeping Visions' (2001) and 'Feed The Fire' (2002)."

IN FLAMES Bassist Dislocated Knee, But Did Not Break His LegSwedish writer Martin Carlsson, who accompanied IN FLAMES on their just-completed mini-tour of Russia, has sent the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET regarding the report that the group's bassist Peter Iwers broke his leg before the band's January 27 show in Moscow.
"It may have looked like it, but Peter Iwers did NOT break his leg. We went to the Red Square yesterday morning for a photo shoot. The ground was very icy and Peter slipped. LED ZEPPELIN Reunion Tour Off Until At Least SeptemberDan Sloan of Reuters reports that LED ZEPPELIN won't have another reunion session before September at the earliest, lead guitarist Jimmy Page said in Tokyo on Monday.
A successful reunion show in London in December rekindled hopes of a world tour, but Page said that singer Robert Plant's tour with U.S. country singer Alison Krauss is keeping him busy for now.
"I can assure you the amount of work that we put into the O2 (concert), for ourselves rehearsing and the staging of it, was probably what you put into a world tour," Page said.
But, "Robert Plant also had a parallel project running and he's really busy with that project, certainly until September, so I can't give you any news."
Page, in Tokyo to promote a greatest hits release, painted a happy picture of the reunion.
"It was exhilarating, fantastic, every week was a week to look forward to," he said. "We did the show and it was great."

Jasta (HATEBREED, ICEPICK) and Windstein (DOWN, CROWBAR) came together some three years ago to create KINGDOM OF SORROW, and in that time put together an album's worth of crushing American metal.
The KINGDOM OF SORROW album was recorded at Planet Z Studios in Massachusetts with producer Zeuss (HATEBREED, SHADOWS FALL). Preview tracks can be heard now via the band's official MySpace page.
The track listing is as follows:
01. Hear This Prayer
02. Grieve
03. Piece It All Back
04. Led Into Demise
05. Demon Eyes
06. With Unspoken Words
07. Free The Fall
08. World
09. Ghosts
10. Begging
11. Buried In Black
A short tour is tentatively planned to coincide with the album release.
Commented Jasta: "I can't even begin to explain how excited I am about KINGDOM OF SORROW! There's been two and a half years of questions, rumors and speculation surrounding this and now we can finally move forward! We've signed a worldwide deal with Relapse Records!!! It's an honor. Kirk and I could not be happier, I've always been a big fan of the label."
Jasta continued: "I can't wait for the world to hear this record. It crushes!! I pushed myself to become a better vocalist and wrote and expressed myself lyrically in a totally different way than I have before. Kirk has never sounded better! His tone is like a 747 filled with tar crashing into a lead mountain. We should press this CD on plutonium because it really is that HEAVY. It was so much fun working on this record. There was no other motive than to have fun and make a unique and different record for the both of us while keeping it heavy, mean and rockin! I think everyone is going to be really surprised!"
Windstein added: "We’re just so happy to have this come out…finally! We had a great time putting it together and we’re just so proud of it. Its super heavy, man, it just crushes! Everyone I play it for, their jaws drop. And after three years, it feels good to know now everyone can hear it."
KINGDOM OF SORROW is:
Kirk Windstein (DOWN, CROWBAR) – Vocals, Guitars
Jamey Jasta (HATEBREED, ICEPICK) - Vocals
Steve Gibb (CROWBAR, ex-BLACK LABEL SOCIETY) - Guitar
Derek Kerswill (SEEMLESS, UNEARTH) - Drums
Matthew Brunson - Bass

KORN Guitarist Has 'A Big Surprise Announcement' Coming Very SoonKORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer has issued the following update:
"2007 was great for me and Emotional Syphon Recordings [Munky's record label]. We released two kick-ass albums from very different bands, DROID and MONSTER IN THE MACHINE.
"Both albums are special for me.
"I started ESR because I felt like there was a void in the music industry. I aimed to fill that by promoting more great music. I wanted to give these artists a channel to be heard. These records are completely untouched by industry politics and trends. They come from the respective musicians' hearts. They also are the beginning of ESR! I'd been wanting to start a label for a very long time, and now it's up and running! We're on the right track...
"Last year was also fantastic for KORN. We released a great new album and toured the whole world with SLIPKNOT drum legend Joey Jordison behind the kit. I had a great time playing all of those shows and meeting fans at the ESR booth. I'm looking forward to going back out and playing some more killer shows for all of you.
"Last year definitely had some cool highlights, however, 2008 is already shaping up to be even better. KORN is about to embark on a huge tour of Europe and the UK. We've got Ray Luzier of ARMY OF ANYONE filling in on the drums, and we have a lot of surprises planned. We'll be busting out some classic tracks as well as newer stuff from the 'Untitled' record. So if you're in Europe or the UK, don't miss these shows! It's going to be a very memorable run for all of us.
"I'm also very stoked with ESR's progress. We're building the label even more, and both DROID and MONSTER IN THE MACHINE will be on tour all year.
"For those of you that caught DROID on Family Values 2007 or MONSTER IN THE MACHINE out with TEAM SLEEP, you know how killer these bands are live! Do not miss them on tour this year. Also be sure to say 'hi' to the guys after the shows or at their merch booths. ESR is a family, and we consider the fans a big part of that family. We want to meet and talk to all of you! This is going to be a big year for the label and both of these kick-ass bands!
"Before I hit the road, I wanted to let everyone in on a little secret. I have a big surprise announcement coming very, very soon. It's something I'm extremely passionate about, and I have a feeling everyone is going to love it. Be sure to keep checking this page, because this announcement is going to be big…"

The vocal sessions will be helmed by producer Jim Morris, who has worked with ICED EARTH on the group's last few releases. The CD will be mixed in March, as the band will once again be utilizing the talents of producer Jacob Hansen (RAUNCHY, INVOCATOR, MERCENARY).
Barlow — who last month returned to front ICED EARTH as the replacement for Tim "Ripper" Owens — will perform on the upcoming PYRAMAZE album but will not be able to continue on with the band in a full-time position as previously planned.
"PYRAMAZE is an extremely talented group of musicians, whose work is well known in the progressive metal community and will be in high demand in a short time," Barlow said in a statement. "I am happy to say that I will be working with them, if only in a limited term."
PYRAMAZE entered the studio on October 1, 2007 in Haderslev, Denmark to begin recording the follow-up to "Legend of the Bone Carver".
Barlow originally joined PYRAMAZE as the replacement for Lance King who left the band in November 2006.
PYRAMAZE's latest CD, "Legend of the Bone Carver", was released in 2006 via Massacre Records (Europe) and Nightmare Records (USA and Canada).
