GORGOROTH Guitarist INFERNUS:

GORGOROTH Guitarist INFERNUS: 'My Intention Is To Continue For Another 15 Years!'

GORGOROTH guitarist Infernus — who is involved in a legal dispute with his estranged bandmates over the rights to the group's name — has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"Today I have been denied access to the official MySpace profile of GORGOROTH. I am working on it as we speak, but I do not know how long it takes for the MySpace customer support team to deal with this.

"I have registrated a new statement from one or two of my former co-workers, and I will soon come with some more info on how I regard the situation and how it has developed, where I — without intending becoming too personal — will briefly present my plan for the continuation of GORGOROTH, possibly also with reference to some legal papers translated into English and with a photocopy of a document proving King's [bass] attempt to registrate the GORGOROTH name as his personal belonging behind my back in the beginning of last month. I will also elaborate upon the form in which the break-up happened, and show it was also my will to continue doing the upcoming tour first, then deal with the legal issues and the break-up later on, in an more appropriate way.

"For the more slowminded: Both parts want to continue under the name GORGOROTH. As the founder and only original member of the band, I claim the legal rights to the name. I am fully aware of that I can be a difficult person to work with, but it is my sincere opinion that to the degree this was a problem for the other two guys they should have withdrawn from the band and started something new, on their own. My intention is to continue for another 15 years!

"Again, I feel sorry for the friends, co-workers and fans all over the world that now have to withness such a happening taking place."

GORGOROTH recently entered Grieghallen Studios in Norway with producer Pytten (ENSLAVED, TRELLDOM) to begin work on a new live album, "Live in Grieghallen 2007".

SOULFLY: New Album Update

SOULFLY: New Album Update

SOULFLY members Max Cavalera (guitar/vocals), Joe Nunez (drums), Marc Rizzo (guitar), and Bobby Burns (bass) entered Porch Studio in Florida on September 12 to begin recording the band's sixth studio album for an early summer 2008 release via Roadrunner Records.

After recording up until the end of September, the band was able to complete nearly all of the basic tracking for the recording — including the majority of drum, bass, rhythm guitar, and lead guitar tracks. Working titles for some of the 13 songs which were tracked include "Burndown", "Enemy Ghost", "Axis of Wrath", and "Blood, Fire, War, Hate".

For the time being, SOULFLY has put recording at the Porch with engineer Tim Lau on hold; ever since they left the studio on September 29, Max has been traveling throughout Egypt and Siberia with recording devices, and when he returns he will begin to mold the samples, noises, and music that he collects during his travels into the framework of the songs which he jammed out with Marc, Bobby, and Joe last month. Vocals and percussion have only been completed on a handful of songs, but SOULFLY plans to go back to the Porch before the end of the year to complete tracking. After that, Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD) will be doing the mixing on this one. As of now, you can expect the next album to be ready for release by early summer of 2008.

According to NME.com, LED ZEPPELIN's Robert Plant has said that the reunion of the band has made him feel "like Superman."

The singer went on to add that he was overwhelmed by the anticipation.

Plant told U.S. radio station WNYC: "Having fun in England is having fun. I just hope we all have fun. Let's face it. So many people want to go to the thing. How about if it's fantastic?

"The anticipation is incredibly overwhelming for me. I'm carrying it around like some kind of kryptonite, you know? And all I want to do is have some fun."

The band is set to reform for a one-off show at the O2 Arena in London on November 26.

THE GATHERING Drummer:

THE GATHERING Drummer: 'So Many Flavors To Choose From, We Need Our Time'

THE GATHERING drummer Hans Rutten has issued the following update:

"First of all, thanks so much for all the response we received concerning our upcoming DVD release 'A Noise Severe'. So many people ordered the package on our webshop, really unbelievable! On behalf of all of us: thanks!

"Not so good news; we had some mastering problems which we hope are solved now, and will be on time to send out all orders end of October/beginning of November [people who ordered will receive a notification when products are shipped]. We think the whole recordings, both audio and image, is beyond our expectation. A beautiful ending of a GATHERING chapter which we are proud of.

"If you can't wait and want to see a glimpse; there will be held some GATHERING 'A Noise Severe' DVD release parties in Berlin (November 3rd), Santiago (somewhere end of November) and Mexico city (November 17th). I am sure you will find more info on our own message board.

"What else? What are we doing besides working on the DVD? Well, René is working and playing live with DRIVE BY WIRE and VJ-ing Frank's project GRIMM LIMBO. Frankie is a busy guy with GL, and is currently working on a vinyl release. Marjolein is working a bit, saving money to go travelling the end of this year. I am also working, in a hospital. Refreshing our inner self by doing some other things, wonderful! That doesn't mean THE GATHERING is doing nothing. We do work on some new songs, and we're still busy which direction to take. It's not an easy task, and we don't want to do things in a hurry. Nothing decided yet. So many flavours to choose from, we need our time."

LEVERAGE Completes Work On Second Album

LEVERAGE Completes Work On Second Album

Finnish melodic metal band LEVERAGE has completed work on its as-yet-untitled second album for a January 2008 release via Frontiers Records.

"We're very proud of the new album," states guitarist and main composer Tuomas Heikkinen. "We've grown tighter as a band, we're more in touch with what LEVERAGE really is for us, and we sure pushed ourselves writing, rehearsing and recording. The album has 10 melodic songs that include the heaviest, most intense and on the other hand the most intimate moments we've been able to capture so far. We feel 'Tides' was the best thing we could come up with at that time, we believe the second album came out as good as we hoped it would now."

Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Stormchild", "Sentenced" (chosen as the lead radio track for the album, soon to be made available for streaming on the Frontiers Records MySpace site), "Run Down", "Heart of Darkness", "Run Down" and "Shadow In The Rain".

Report: MARILYN MANSON

Report: MARILYN MANSON's Girlfriend Close To Signing Record Deal

According to Entertainment Weekly, actress Evan Rachel Wood, best known for her dramatic performances on film ("Thirteen", "The Upside of Anger"), television ("Once and Again"), and as Marilyn Manson's girlfriend (see her starring role in his steamy "Heart-Shaped Glasses" video), is close to signing a recording contract with Interscope Records, which happens to be Manson's label. The deal is "still in negotiations," says an insider. Look for an announcement in the coming weeks.

It seems Wood's performance in "Across the Universe", during which she took on THE BEATLES' "Blackbird", "If I Fell", and "It Won't Be Long", impressed not only movie audiences but label execs. "The general buzz is that she does have a very good voice and genuinely wants to make music," adds another source close to the situation. "You should hear her karaoke!"

HIM Frontman Says He Was Beaten Up By His Ex-Girlfriend

HIM Frontman Says He Was Beaten Up By His Ex-Girlfriend

World Entertainment News Network reports that HIM frontman Ville Valo was almost forced to cancel his band's first major American tour after his ex-girlfriend beat him up.

The 30-year-old rocker was given a black eye by his former partner and suffered a burst ear drum at the hands of the unnamed woman.

He says, "She was a tough girl and she wasn't afraid to show it. She once punctured my ear-drum by screaming so loudly in my ear that it bled from the inside. If the hole in my ear had have been any bigger, I'd have had to go for surgery and our band would have missed their first major American tour.

"Violence is always pretty bad but it doesn't get any worse than being beaten up by a girl, does it?"

GORGOROTH Vocalist, Bassist Vow To Carry On Following Split With Guitarist

GORGOROTH bassist King ov Hell and vocalist Gaahl have issued the following statement regarding the group's current status:

"Gaahl, King and Infernus have decided to part ways.

"GORGOROTH have existed as a three-piece for the past several years but have ceased from this moment on in this incarnation.

"Vocalist Gaahl (lyrics) and King (bassist/composer) will continue the scheduled European tour in November under the name GORGOROTH with a replacement for Infernus.

"King and Gaahl will continue to work together musically, performing their art live and recording in the future.

"This decision was reached by Gaahl and King as they have been the driving force behind GORGOROTH's music for the past eight years.

"Infernus has stated he will take King and Gaahl to court over future use of the name GORGOROTH."

Guitarist Infernus of the Norwegian black metallers GORGOROTH recently has posted the following message on the band's MySpace page:

"I am writing to inform you about the fact that there has been taken a decision to split up the band, Infernus on one side, Gaahl [vocals] and King [bass] on the other. We cannot continue working together any longer. What is still not agreed upon is who rightfully get to keep the band's name, as it is both parts will to continue. Since this will be a question of legal affairs, I am afraid this might take time to get sorted out. I am sorry for that."

GORGOROTH recently entered Grieghallen Studios in Norway with producer Pytten (ENSLAVED, TRELLDOM) to begin work on a new live album, "Live in Grieghallen 2007".

DAATH Looking For New Vocalist

DAATH Looking For New Vocalist

Progressively inclined metal titans DAATH are seeking a new vocalist following the recent exit of Sean Farber. The band is looking for a distinctive voice to augment their brutally unique sound and mirror their complex conceptual background.

With their Roadrunner Records debut "The Hinderers", the band have raised the bar for American metal, garnering praise from critics and fans alike. After a highly successful run on this year's Ozzfest, DAATH are gearing up to hit the studio in early 2008 to construct their second offering, tentatively titled "The Concealers". Once again focusing on each facet of the Tree of Life/Death, "The Concealers" will delve deeper into the various sides of human nature and behavior. The band is looking for a vocalist to set the stage ablaze with distinguishable tenacity and thoughtful finesse.

DAATH are currently on tour with DARK FUNERAL and NAGLFAR, with longtime friend Sean Z filling in on vocal duties. The band is looking for a vocalist with versatility, a touring heart and a fervent love for all DAATH has to offer. "We don't want a one dimensional singer, we want someone diverse with range and power," says guitarist Eyal Levi. "We like vocalists with signature diversity such as Mikael Åkerfeldt, Vortex, Phil Anselmo and David Vincent."

Candidates looking to apply should download vocal-free music from the links below, record their vocals and email tracks back along with full contact information and picture to the e-mail address provided at the bottom of this article. Applicants are also encouraged to complete the tracks via video and upload them to their personal YouTube pages or can submit materials from their own bands or work. DAATH will be considering entries throughout the fall and hope to announce a new vocalist by the end of the year.

Former SUPREME MAJESTY Keyboardist Reveals Current Projects

Former SUPREME MAJESTY Keyboardist Reveals Current Projects

Keyboardist Mattias Holmgren (NAGLFAR, EMBRACING, AZURE, TIRED TREE, SUPREME MAJESTY) recently quit Swedish melodic metallers SUPREME MAJESTY in order to focus on his own projects and his company Morningdew Media. "The fact that the band was living so far away from me was getting out of control, and the music was just not my kind of style," Mattias said in a statement.

Regarding his current projects, Holmgren said, "I just signed a deal with another game company (Ice Concept Studios) to make music for their upcoming PC and Xbox 360 game titled Legio. And I've also delivered the last music pieces for the game Furiae (made by Resolution Interactive). We're also working on the third album with EMBRACING and a new solo album with TIRED TREE so there's alot going on at the moment."

BATTLELORE Hard At Work On New Material

BATTLELORE Hard At Work On New Material

Vocalist Tomi Mykkänen of the Finnish "fantasy metal" band BATTLELORE has issued the following update:

"First of all, we have been working on the new songs lately and at the moment we actually have some 10 songs in very good 'skeleton phase.' Looks extremely positive so far. The music is getting a few steps back in our history and a few steps forward to the future.

"At the moment it seems that there will be bigger, more epic parts in the vein of 'Sword's Song' but also more harder, heavier parts in the vein of 'Evernight'. I'm quite sure that you fans won't be disappointed with this one. The album should be out sometime in June/July/August 2008.

"We have some more gigs coming up. For all you cool North Americans I must say that still no good news for you. We would love to come 'over the deep waters' and play for all of you but it's really not up to us. You need to buy more albums and ask from the local organizers for us... maybe someday then.

"Finally we have a few more Finnish gigs coming up. Seems that our homeland is finally starting to get our idea. Our first UK gig in a long time is also confirmed to be in late February 2008 in Swansea, Wales. There is a big possibility for more UK gigs this coming December as we've been talking about a small tour around the middle December and that one should have some five or so UK dates.

TO/DIE/FOR: 'We Just Need A Break'

Finnish gothic metal band TO/DIE/FOR has posted another message on its MySpace page clarifying its previous statement that "we really do not know what will happen for us then. . . maybe we will release sixth album someday, maybe we don't." The new message reads as follows:

But still situation is that we do not know anything about anything… All we know is that we love to make music, we love to travel and make shows…"
