Dutch female-fronted symphonic metal band EPICA has set "The Divine Conspiracy" as the title of its new album, due August/September via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD, which is currently being mixed by Sascha Paeth, will feature a session appearance by GOD DETHRONED drummer Ariën van Weesenbeek. EPICA has yet to name a full-time drummer following the departure of Jeroen Simons in 2006.

Formed by guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Mark Jansen (ex-AFTER FOREVER) in 2002, EPICA has so far released three albums, among them a full-length soundtrack in the vein of Hollywood composers Hans Zimmer and Danny Elfman. The Dutch metallers have already played in 24 countries, and have completed successful tours in Europe, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and the USA.

Acclaimed Swedish metallers MANINNYA BLADE have reformed and are working on new material for release later in the year. The group's current lineup is as follows:

MANINNYA BLADE is considered to be one of the first thrash metal bands from Sweden. A compilation album, "Undead, Unborn, Alive", came out in 2006, featuring live recordings from a 2002 reunion gig and various demo recordings.

Portuguese metal/gothic rock band HEAVENWOOD has posted a preview of some if its new material on its MySpace page.

After the departure in 2004 of main songwritter and guitarist Ricardo Dias, HEAVENWOOD went on a lengthy hiatus. Now Ricardo Dias has returned along with new drummer Luiz Ferreira (ex-SECRECY from Portugal).

NILE's last album, "Annihilation of the Wicked" album, was released in May 2005 via Relapse Records. A video for the album track "Sacrifice Unto Sebek" was shot on location in Atlanta, GA by director Chad Rullman (MASTODON's "March of the Fire Ants", THE AGONY SCENE) for Supercollider Films.

NILE has been confirmed as one of the second-stage bands at this year's Ozzfest alongside HATEBREED, BEHEMOTH, MONDO GENERATOR, ANKLA, CIRCUS DIABLO and THE SHOWDOWN, among others. The 24-city tour begins July 12 in Seattle.

Italian "symphonic power epic" metal band THY MAJESTIE has announced the addition of Dario Cascio (vocals) and Simone Campione (guitar) to the group's ranks. "We are so pleased to have them in our team!" the band writes on its web site. "They brought us life and new enthusiasm. They are officially in the band. We look forward to starting working on the new album!"

THY MAJESTIE parted ways with vocalist Dario Grillo a couple of months ago due to personal differences. "It was a mistake to believe that with Dario Grillo the things might have run easily," the band stated at the time. "We already got it four years ago when there was some communication problem. And so it was after a hard struggle to make his mind up about our gigs in Holland we decided to leave him with his troubles that may have thwarted the smooth running of our work. Good luck to Dario. This time we're sure we won't get any relationship anymore."

THY MAJESTIE's latest album, "Jean D'Arc", was in 2005 via Scarlet Records. The follow-up to 2002's "Hastings 1066" was mastered at The Mastering Room in Sweden by Goran Finnberg.

Swedish "dark death metal" act RUNEMAGICK has set "Dawn of the End" as the title of its new album. "The tracks are mixed and ready for final mastering," according to a posting on the band's web site. "There is no release date yet but in 2007 for sure, and the label will as usual be Aftermath Music (Norway). Finland's TORTURE KILLER will enter the studios in November to start recording a follow-up to their 2006 album "Swarm!"

"After the basic tracking done in Finland we will move to Hit Factory [in] Miami, where Chris [Barnes, SIX FEET UNDER/TORTURE KILLER vocalist] will start laying down the vocal tracks and hopefully the CD will be finished by the end of the year for an early 2008 release," the band writes in a press release.

"Things are moving along nicely and we are confident that we will have decent death metal album on our hands. The new songs are sounding great; all the 'Swarm!' elements are there and we think we've taken another step ahead with our approach on death metal, some really haunting guitar licks combined with a groove and more attacking style, hopefully we can catch all this energy the right way and I'm sure people are definitely going to enjoy this one."

British thrash metal legends ONSLAUGHT will release their first live DVD, "Live Polish Assault 2007", in Europe on June 11 via Metal Mind Productions (June 19 in the U.S.). The disc will contain more than an hour of veritable thrash mayhem filmed during the band's gig on February 12, 2007 at the Stodola Club in Warsaw, Poland. According to a posting at ScorpsNews.com, SCORPIONS guitarist Rudolf Schenker revealed in the latest issue of the French magazine Rock Hard that SMASHING PUMPKINS frontman Billy Corgan makes an appearance on vocals in the new SCORPIONS song "The Cross", which is included on the band's new CD, "Humanity - Hour 1", due in Germany on May 25.

In other news, Schenker stated that the SCORPIONS invited both Rudolf's brother Michael and Uli Jon Roth to appear on the new CD, but that neither was able to guest on the album due to scheduling conflicts.

Also on the SCORPIONS front, professionally filmed video footage of the band's special performance at last year's Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany — dubbed "A Night to Remember - A Journey in Time" — is currently being edited for a possible fall DVD release. A clip of the SCORPIONS performing the song "Rock You Like a Hurricane" at the Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany on August 3, 2006 has been posted online at YouTube. Finnish cello-rockers APOCALYPTICA performed an eight-minute medley yesterday (Saturday, May 12) during the Eurovision Song Contest broadcast in front of several million TV viewers. Watch the footage online at YouTube.

Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR), Dave Lombardo (SLAYER), Tomoyasu Hotei (superstar Japanese composer, whose credits include the "Kill Bill" soundtrack), Joseph Duplantier (GOJIRA) and Cristina Scabbia (LACUNA COIL) are among the confirmed musicians who have recorded guest appearances on the upcoming album from APOCALYPTICA, tentatively due in September. APOCALYPTICA recently finished filming a video in Los Angeles with director Tony Petrossian (AVENGED SEVENFOLD, RISE AGAINST, SLIPKNOT) for the song "I'm Not Jesus". Making a guest appearance in the track and the clip is STONE SOUR/SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor.

Billboard.com recently reported that Alice Cooper has put off recording his next album, a conceptual piece about a serial killer called "Along Came a Spider", until 2008 but says it could turn into a two-CD set.

"That would be great; I've never done one," Cooper said. "We wrote 20 songs thinking we were going to get this album recorded before this tour. We just ran out of time. But since we have five months on the road we'll probably write another 10 songs. I'd like to put out 30 brand new songs on one album."

Officially RIAA gold-certified and showing no signs of slowing down, "Come What(ever) May" has achieved immense success since its 2006 release. The album debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200. "30/30-150" was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Metal Performance. The hit single "Through Glass" reached #1 at Active and Mainstream Rock radio, #2 at Alternative Radio with 22 weeks in the Top 10, #12 at Hot A/C. It was the #1 video on MTV2's T-Minus Rock Countdown, ranking it among the most played videos in 2006. The politically charged "Sillyworld" turned heads with its video assault on corporate America, was top 5 at Active and Mainstream rock and top 20 at Alternative Radio. The current single, "Made of Scars", was #3 most added the week before add date, and debuted at # 34 with a bullet on Active Rock charts this week. Filmed last month, its video captures the band playing to a sold out crowd at the height of their U.S. tour, encapsulating a raw, vicious energy reminiscent of ROLLINS BAND and FAITH NO MORE.

"I love impromptu. I love extemporaneous. I love spontaneous", the band's enigmatic frontman Corey Taylor says in Revolver's current cover story. "With [STONE SOUR] I can be myself and just do my thing, which is why I f***ing love it."

Swedish "Viking metal" act MÅNEGARM will release its new album, "Vargstenen" (The Wolfstone), on May 25 via Black Lodge Records. A picture disc and digi-book version of the LP will also be made available. The CD was recorded at Studio Underground with producer Pelle Saether. A track from the album, entitled "Genom världar nio", has been made available for streaming at this location (click on "Play").

U.D.O., the band led by former ACCEPT frontman Udo Dirkschneider, will release its new album, "Mastercutor", on May 18 via AFM Records. Several extra songs were recorded for the CD, with different territories getting their own bonus cuts. The Japanese edition of the CD will come with the track "Man a King Ruler", the Russian album will include "Platchet Soldat", and both will feature the song "Streets of Sin". The European limited-edition version of "Mastercutor" will include the songs "Borderline" and "Screaming Eagles".

U.D.O.'s video for its new single, "The Wrong Side of Midnight", has been posted at YouTube. According to a press release, the clip was filmed in a closed tunnel section near Stuttgart which was built during the second world war. Dirkschneider was reportedly attacked by a flock of bats during the shoot. The video's storyline: A man that was kept imprisoned and used for horrible experiments for several decades mutates into a creepy monster before escaping and subjecting the general population to some of the same atrocities that he underwent during his confinement.

Australian melodic power metal band BLACK MAJESTY will issue its third album, entitled "Tomorrowland", on June 1 in Europe through Limb Music Products. Check out the cover artwork at this location. The track listing is as follows:
