KING DIAMOND To Begin Mixing New Album In March

KING DIAMOND To Begin Mixing New Album In March

Vocalist King Diamond is currently writing lyrics to his band's as-yet-untitled 12th studio record, which he expects to begin mixing on March 5 in Dallas, Texas. If everything goes according to plan, the CD will be completed by April 1 for a tentative late summer release.

Revolver magazine recently reported that KING DIAMOND's new album was inspired by a painting called "My Mother's Eyes" which the band's distributor in Denmark stumbled across while surfing the Net (and which Diamond has since bought for the new CD cover). The more Diamond looked at the image of a battered blond girl with blood covering her white dress, holding out palms affixed with protruding eyeballs, the more it captivated and inspired him. "I can feel the energy of the front cover in all the songs we wrote, and it will definitely affect my lyrics," he promised.

Diamond wrote the music for the new album from December 2005 through February 2006, then recorded the basic tracks in his basement. Now all that's left to add are the vocals, which he will complete in the upcoming weeks.

"It classes over anything I've ever done," Diamond beamed. "The arrangements are more intricate, the production is better, and for the parts where there are violins, it sounds like we hired the Royal Philharmonic. As long as I don't fuck up the vocals, this should be our best record."

KING DIAMOND's follow-up to 2003's "The Puppet Master" will contain 13 tracks (including an intro), five of which were written by the band's guitarist, Andy La Rocque.

HALFORD:

HALFORD: 'Forgotten Generation' Video Available On YouTube

HALFORD's video for the song "Forgotten Generation" has been posted online at YouTube. The track, which was officially released on November 21, 2006 via iTunes, is the first new HALFORD song in more than four years. Rob Halford wrote the tune and another new cut, "Drop Out", with the HALFORD band last year during downtime from working with JUDAS PRIEST on their upcoming album "Nostradamus". "We just thought it would be nice to offer fans an earful of new HALFORD stuff and let everybody know we're still around," he said, according to MTV.com. Both new tracks are available on "Halford: Metal God Essentials - Volume 1", which came out November 28. The album contains 15 songs spanning Halford's solo career and is also available exclusively through iTunes. Also on November 28, Halford released the entire HALFORD catalog ("Resurrection", "Live Insurrection" and "Crucible"), plus the FIGHT demo "K5 the War of Words Demos".

"Forgotten Generation" deals with alienation, and Halford told Launch that he wrote the lyrics to speak to and for everyone. "To me, it means the assertation of every individual to kind of have a voice that's valuable and needs to be heard," he said. "So I'm talking about hypocrisy, I'm talking about, you know, speaking up and letting your feelings be felt and heard, and not being passed by, and that's just a streak that I carry with me, I'm the eternal optimist, in that respect."

THE PROJECT HATE Announces New Record Deal

THE PROJECT HATE Announces New Record Deal

THE PROJECT HATE, the Swedish band featuring Lord K. Philipson (GOD AMONG INSECTS, ex-LEUKEMIA), Jörgen Sandström (ex-ENTOMBED, GRAVE), bassist Michael Håkansson (ENGEL, ex-EVERGREY), guitarist Petter S. Freed (2 TON PREDATOR) and singer Jo Enckell (IGNORANCE BLISS), has posted the following message on its official web site:

"Over the last few months, while we have been recording the coming fifth album, we have had some damn giving discussions with some people about signing a new deal. We are now very happy to announce that Swedish (but a U.S. resident) bound-to-be legendary actor/lunatic Peter Stormare [IMDb] has decided to work out a deal with us for his own record label StormVox. We would like to take the opportunity to thank the other labels we have talked to a little after the split from Threeman Recordings. We appreciate the interest.

"So, Mr. Sturm is now our label boss and we really look forward to working together with him. Having one of the most insane actors in the movie business taking interest in what we do... Things could be worse. We have some more things lined up which we will announce asap if shit goes as we want them to, but more of that as soon as we have something more concrete to say.

"We have told you some of the following before, but we'll make a short rundown of everything to keep you guys on track:

"We are planning to have the album completed sometime in late March/April and this means it should see the light of day a few months after that. We'll get back to you with a definite releasedate as soon as we have one, of course.

"Michael Håkansson will start doing his bass around February and we have made loose plans as for when to enter the studio to record vocals. It looks like we'll utilize the services of Robban Eriksson in Örebro, Sweden for all the vocals this time around. The very guy who we recorded Ms Jo's vocals on 'Armageddon March Eternal'.

"All the guitars are completed since a while back, we might add a solo or two while waiting for the vocals to be recorded, but that remains to be seen, if guitarist Mazza can get his ass away from the Xbox 360 that is.

"Dan Swanö is ready to sink his teeth into this piece as soon as we have all the shit down, and we are definitely looking forward to complete this album with Mr. D. It will be pure joy as always as D knows us so well by now."

The follow-up to 2003's "Hate, Dominate, Congregate, Eliminate", THE PROJECT HATE's latest album, "Armageddon March Eternal (Symphonies of Slit Wrists)" was released in Europe in October 2005 via Threeman Recordings. The CD was produced by Dan Swanö.

BENEDICTION: Drummer NICK BARKER Has Not Left The Band

BENEDICTION: Drummer NICK BARKER Has Not Left The Band

Long-running British metallers BENEDICTION have released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"A lot of questions have been asked about [the status of BENEDICTION drummer] Nick Barker [formerly of DIMMU BORGIR and CRADLE OF FILTH]. Yes, he is still BENEDICTION's drummer, and yes, he is helping TESTAMENT out on drums on their tour and album. This was discussed between us and it is no problem to either band. Put yourself in Nick's shoes — one of your favorite bands of all time asks you to use your drumming skills on their tour and write on their new album; it is a chance of a lifetime! It was talked about on both sides and Nick had our full blessing on this. On some of the festivals in Europe this year he will be playing sets for both bands on the same day! If you know Nick, then you will know that there is no problem with stamina! How many bands do various members of NAPALM [DEATH] play with on top of their own NAPALM DEATH thing? Frank Healy and Dave Hunt from BENEDICTION also play and record with other bands (ANAAL NATHRAKH, MISTRESS, CEREBRAL FIX). The loyalty within the band is also strong so we have no problems about these things happening. Nick could have left BENEDICTION if he wanted. We said we would understand if he wanted to join one the most legendary outfits in the world. He wanted to stay as a part of BENEDICTION. That speaks volumes. BENEDICTION is a unit, not a single person. Our live shows this year will let the music do the talking for us."

BENEDICTION's new album, "Killing Music", will be released later in the year via Nuclear Blast Records, with whom the band recently re-signed. The CD will mark the recording debut with the group of drummer Barker, who was most recently a member of BRUJERIA and who played with ex-FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares in the short-lived DRIVEN BY SUFFERING (working name).

Regarding the band's decision to record a cover of ALICE COOPER's "He's Back (The Man behind the Mask)", ONE MAN ARMY AND THE UNDEAD QUARTET vocalist Johan Lindstrand (ex-THE CROWN) previously said, "It's a song which we all can relate to in one way or another. We were young and it was in the middle of the '80s. 'Friday the 13th Part 6 - Jason Lives' [was] circulating in the underground community 'cause Sweden had huge problems with censorship. We had to find it in the black market and since we first saw this slasher, this song really got stuck in our heads and I guess the only way to get it out is to play the god damn song. It will be heavy!"

ONE MAN ARMY AND THE UNDEAD QUARTET released a new single, "Christmas for the Lobotomizer", on November 17 via Nuclear Blast. In addition to the title cut, the single contains the songs "Devil on the Red Carpet", "Hell is for Heroes" and "Bulldozer Frenzy", all recorded live at this year's Summer Breeze festival in Germany.

Bjorkman), Joakim Göthberg (who played drums on the first two MARDUK albums and sang on the group's second and the third LPs) on a track entitled "Cold Mouth Prayer", and Alan "Nemtheanga" Averill from Irish band PRIMORDIAL on the song "Accuser/Opposer".

The upcoming CD will be MARDUK's final effort to feature drummer Emil Dragutinovic. A source close to Emil told BLABBERMOUTH.NET that the drummer officially quit the group on November 1 but has agreed to perform on the new album as a session musician.

Dragutinovic is currently working with former MARDUK vocalist Legion (a.k.a. Erik Hagsted) on his ELIZIUM project (formerly REBELANGELS).

HELL WITHIN Completes Work On New Album

HELL WITHIN Completes Work On New Album

Massachusetts-based metallers HELL WITHIN have issued the following update:

"The new HELL WITHIN album, 'Shadows of Vanity', is done being recorded and mixed. We can't wait for everyone to hear it. The album sounds amazing and we are very proud of it. Now all that's left is for it to be mastered. That will be done by the beginning of February and the artwork will be done in February as well. We're shooting for a mid May release for the album, so in May get to the stores and buy it!

"The other thing we have going on is a tour with our good friends THE AUTUMN OFFERING and our soon-to-be-friends AUTUMN BLACK. The tour will start March 1 and take us until the end of the month. It will cover the East Coast and go over to Texas then up the middle of the country. Everyone get your asses out to see us when we rape and pillage your town."
