AMORPHIS To Enter Studio In JanuaryAMORPHIS guitarist Esa Holopainen guitarist has issued the following update:
"It's been a really hectic year in the AMORPHIS camp and at the same time one of the best ones in our career. We released 'Eclipse', the first album with Mr. Joutsen on vocals, in spring and all the response from album & shows has been great. We really find the mood which I honestly thought that we lost years back. Big thanks to Tomi and his inspiration to all of us. With 'Eclipse' we opened new era in our career, and yes, we are still together with this lineup (AMORPHIS mark 7 or something...) :)
"Anyway, to brief you a bit; we are currently composing new material for the next AMORPHIS album. No title or release date has been issued yet, but we'll enter the Sonic Pump Studios again at the beginning of January 2007 with the same team as on the last session. Mr. Karmila will be mixing the tracks sometime in late February at Finnvox Studio. We'll keep you updated, and meanwhile, check our tour dates; we are going to do shows whenever possible during making our new 'kid' come alive."
AMORPHIS has been confirmed for next year's installment of the Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place August 2-4, 2007 in Wacken, Germany.
AMORPHIS' latest album, "Eclipse", was issued in a limited vinyl edition in a deluxe gatefold sleeve by Black Lodge Records under worldwide license from Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Far from the Sun" was recorded at Sonic Pump studios in Helsinki with engineer Nino Laurenne (THUNDERSTONE). The production duties were handled by the band and Marco Hietala (NIGHTWISH) for vocals. The mixing was taken care of by Mikko Karmila (who previously worked with the group on their "Am Universum" CD) at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki.

METALLICA Drummer: New Album Will Have 'A Lot Of Energy'Launch Radio Networks reports: METALLICA has written about 25 songs for its ninth studio effort and is now concentrating on trimming that list to one album's worth of material, which it will begin recording in January. Drummer Lars Ulrich told Launch on Tuesday (December 5) that the band's summer European tour, on which METALLICA played its classic 1986 album "Master of Puppets" in its entirety, paved the way for the sound of the new album. "What I hear sounds very lively, very spunky, got a lot of energy," he said. "I think that the shows we played over the summer, we were definitely leaner and kind of in better shape than we've been in a long time. I mean, having to deliver 'Master of Puppets' for three months this summer definitely revitalized some of that stuff in us, and it's been kind of fun having that in the back of our mind as we've been going through this process. I don't know what else to say."
Referring to the controversial, low-fi production on 2003's "St. Anger", Ulrich said that he's "taken the drums out of the cardboard boxes" this time, and that lead guitarist Kirk Hammett will lay down guitar solos on this record.
The new disc will be produced by Rick Rubin and is expected out by late 2007.

CANDIRIA: New Album 'On Hold'CANDIRIA guitarist John Lamacchia has issued the following update:
"If you are not already aware, Ken Schalk has left the band. It's heart-breaking, I know, but he needed to explore new things. So Ken, we wish you all the best.
"The new album, 'Kiss the Lie', is now on hold because of the lack of a touring band. The label does not believe this record will sell enough copies without a touring band to justify a release. Therefore they are reluctant to release it. We are trying to come up with a marketing plan and a budget that will satisfy both the label and the needs of the record.
"This is where we are at this point. As soon as we figure this out we will let all of you know. The new record is great and different and new and the artwork is beautiful so I personally can't wait for people to hear it."
The line up for the new CANDIRIA record is as follows:
Carley Coma - Vocals
John Lamacchia - Guitar
Michael MacIvor - Bass
Ken Schalk - Drums
Eddie Ortiz - Guitar
"Kiss the Lie" was produced by John LaMacchia and Carley Coma at Jupiter 4 and Purple Light studios and was mixed in Brooklyn with Michael Barile (E.TOWN CONCRETE).

SECRET SPHERE: Video Footage From Finland Posted OnlineItalian metallers SECRET SPHERE have posted a short video montage, made by a fan, featuring footage from the band's last gig in Tampere, Finland as the support act for KING DIAMOND. Watch it .
As previously reported, SECRET SPHERE has uploaded its video for the song "More Than Simple Emotions" at YouTube. The track comes off the group's last album, "Heart & Anger", which was released in May 2005 via Nuclear Blast Records.
SECRET SPHERE recently finished laying down 18 new song ideas for the follow-up to "Heart & Anger". Pre-production on the new CD was scheduled to begin in October at the studio of Federico Pennazzato, the group's new drummer.
Commented guitarist/mastermind Aldo Lonobile: "The general sound of the new songs is heavier than before — more dramatic and dark. We're still writing the concept behind [the new album]. We are taking many influences from a famous movie director, so the writing process will [take] a bit longer, but we will take the necessary time to compose quality songs."
The follow-up to 2003's "Scent of Human Desire", "Heart & Anger" was recorded at One Voice Studio in Chivasso, Italy by Daniele Giordana, Night & Day Studio in Alessandria, Italy by Paolo Facco, and Sheepvalley Studio in Stockholm, Sweden by Daniel Flores. Guest singers on the album include Roberto Tiranti (LABYRINTH), Marco Mesemi (MORGANA), Vera Quarleri and Monica Elias. INTO ETERNITY Announces New MembersINTO ETERNITY will kick off 2007 with a short run of headlining dates leading them into a major U.S. tour this spring. This trek also marks the addition of new members, Steve Bolognese (ex-BEYOND THE EMBRACE) on drums and Justin Bender on guitars. Tim Roth (guitars, vocals) states: "We are really excited to announce Steve and Justin as permanent members. Both will be hitting the road with us in January. They figured all the music out by ear, so I didn't have to teach them anything. That just blew me away. Steve can do rapid-fire double-bass at 240 beats per minute, so the drumming on the new album won't be a problem for him. Look for us on the road in the U.S. this spring. See you soon."

TIAMAT Mainman Working On New LUCYFIRE AlbumLUCYFIRE, the side project of TIAMAT mastermind Johan Edlund, is working on its second album, tentatively due in 2007. The follow-up to 2001's "This Dollar Saved My Life at Whitehorse" is being produced by TIAMAT drummer Lars Sköld. No further information is currently available.
Edlund previously stated about the group's debut CD, "I felt like recording an album that's more representative of the fun side of rock music. No deep messages, no special meaning, no sharp-witted analyses, only straightforward rock songs that entertain and serve all the usual rock clichés."
"This Dollar Saved My Life at Whitehorse" was recorded with the help of drummer Bertram Engel, bassist John Kazder, keyboardist Mark Engelmann and guitarist Dirk Draeger, who also produced the record. Edlund, only supported by vocalist Silly Lemke, recorded all the tracks. The material was cut in Germany at the Woodhouse Studios in Hagen and at the Hafenklang in Hamburg, as well as at the P.U.K. studios in Denmark, where "This Dollar Saved My Life at Whitehorse" was also mixed.
