AXL ROSE Could Be Kept In Jail Until FridayGUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose could be kept locked up for up to three days by Swedish prosecutors before a court order will be required in order to hold him for a longer period.
"The reason I've decided to keep him locked up is that there's a risk that he'll disappear, and then we won't be able to have a trial," prosecutor Fredrik Ingblad told The Local.
"There is a possibility that there could be a hearing this evening, and I could decide to drop the decision to keep him in custody, but we have not reached that point yet," he told The Local at 5:30 p.m. CET on Tuesday (June 27).
Axl Rose was arrested early Tuesday after allegedly biting a security guard in the leg at his hotel, police said.
The GUNS N' ROSES frontman was ordered held in jail by prosecutors on suspicion of attacking and threatening the guard, as well as causing damage to the Berns Hotel where the alleged scuffle took place, said police spokeswoman Towe Hagg.
It was unclear what caused the fight, but Swedish tabloids said the guard tried to intervene when Rose started arguing with a woman — allegedly his own assistant, according to Expressen — in the hotel lobby.
If he is found guilty of violent conduct he could face up to four years in prison, the police spokesman said. If Rose were convicted of a misdemeanor, he would face up to six months in prison or a fine.
GUNS N' ROSES were scheduled to perform in Oslo, Norway, on Wednesday, but it was unclear whether the concert would be canceled, concert organizer Ema Telstar spokeswoman Catarina Oscarsson told the Associated Press.
Oscarsson said the band wasn't traveling with a publicist and would not comment on the arrest.

MARSHALL LAW Part Ways With Guitarist JACK FROSTLong-running Birmingham-based heavy metal band MARSHALL LAW, who at one time featured Lee Morris of PARADISE LOST, have parted ways with guitarist Jack Frost (SEVEN WITCHES) after less than three months.
"Due to both Jack's and the band's various commitments in terms of availability, both parties felt that it was becoming increasingly difficult to balance the workloads and responsibilities whilst maintaining the high standards which both parties are accustomed to providing," the band write in a statement. "MARSHALL LAW remain on excellent terms with Jack and the band wish him every success for the future. MARSHALL LAW are currently auditioning potential replacements and will be announcing Jack's successor in the very near future. Any U.K.-based guitarists who are within commuting distance to Birmingham and London interested in the position can contact the band at vacancies@marshalllaw.co.uk, typing the word Guitarist in the subject field, and attaching a cv/MP3s/photo if possible. This news does not affect any of the band's live performance plans and the final work required to complete the new album will commence on schedule."
MARSHALL LAW are scheduled to release their new album, "Axis of Power", later in the year. The band's previous LPs include "Marshall Law" in 1990, "Powergame" in 1993, "Law In The Raw" in 1996, "Metal Detector" in 1997 and "Warning From History" in 1999. Sanctuary Records issued a double CD anthology set, "Power Crazy", in 2002.

TERRORIZER Announce Release Date For New Album 'Darker Days AheadReunited grindcore pioneers TERRORIZER will release their highly anticipated second album, "Darker Days Ahead", on August 22 via Century Media Records.
With an aggression and ferocity until then unheard the band took the scene by storm with the 1989 release of their highly acclaimed and genre-defining debut album, "World Downfall" (Earache Records). The album installed the band as a cult institution, despite their prompt disbanding, and the musicians went on to concentrate on their future main bands: Pete Sandoval (drums) with MORBID ANGEL and Jesse Pintado (guitars) with NAPALM DEATH.
With "World Downfall" TERRORIZER created the "Reign In Blood" of grindcore, inspiring a generation of bands, their popularity never waning through these intervening years. The massive amount of available bootleg recordings and band merchandise, as well as rumors of a follow-up album, kept the TERRORIZER name alive.
The eleven new tracks, as well as a new version of the band's classic "Dead Shall Rise" now entitled "Dead Shall Rise V.06", were recorded at Juan "Punchy" Gonzalez' D.O.W. (Diet of Worms) Studios (MORBID ANGEL, CHRISTIAN DEATH), resulting in a more mature, sinister piece of death/grind, fuelled with contempt and a harsh outlook on the status of our present and future world. "Darker Days Ahead" is trademarked by Jesse Pintado's and Tony Norman's (MORBID ANGEL, ex-MONSTROSITY) unmistakably feral sounding guitar tone and Pete Sandoval's skin-flaying blast beats. Joined by vocalist Anthony Rezhawk (RESISTANT CULTURE), who renders an outstanding performance, TERRORIZER unleash a brutal tempest predicting the darkest of days.

INTO ETERNITY Finish Recording New AlbumTim Roth of the Regina, Saskatchewan-based progressive metallers INTO ETERNITY has issued the following update on the band's curent and upcoming activities:
"Things are going well these days in the INTO ETERNITY camp. The recording of our fourth album was recently completed at the end of May. Now we are looking forward to Andy Sneap [NEVERMORE, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY] putting all of his talent into mixing the new disc. That will take place around June 23/06. The band is excited for everyone to hear the new material.
"Right now Mattias Norén is working on the CD packaging. I've seen the cover and it looks really amazing. Mattias always does a great job. Last week we finished a photo shoot with Cortney Bodnar. The pics turned out well and now it's up to Mattias to bring every thing to life.
"We've been listening to a rough mix of the songs that the studio gave us. So far, I think it is a mix between 'Dead Or Dreaming' and 'Buried In Oblivion'. For this album we kept some things a bit more stripped down. Now we won't have 5 vocal harmonies going at once. The band decided that we want to sound more like we do live, so we stuck to 2 part vocal harmonies. It still sounds killer though and I'm sure people will dig the new melodies. Stu [Block] did a great job singing on this album. He has 5 different voices that he can change back and forth from. Wait to you hear some of the notes he hits!"
INTO ETERNITY's new CD will mark the group's first release with Block, who was previously a member of Vancouver's OMEGA CROM. The band's third album, "Buried in Oblivion", was released in February 2004 through Century Media Records. As was the case with their previous two albums, "Buried in Oblivion" was recorded at Touchwood Studios in Regina with ex-bassist Scott Krall, Grant Hall and Johnny "Sixpack" Gasparic handling the majority of production duties.

MACHINE HEAD To Enter Studio In AugustMACHINE HEAD drummer Dave McClain has posted the following message on the band's official web site:
"We're finally on the home stretch!! A few more songs to go until the writing process is completed. Let me say a few things about the progress and way the songs are coming along.
"First off, the freedom and drive we have on this album is far exceeding what we were doing on 'Through The Ashes'. Being able to take our time without a deadline breathing down our necks has been priceless, when we started writing in August (I think) of last year we had made February our time to get into the studio and start recording, but as we went along, the thought of going into the studio then, just to get the album out in a certain time frame became less appealing.
"So, about the music!!!! If I could describe the songs in one word it would have to be ANGRY!!!!!!!! I think the song 'Struck A Nerve' from 'The More Things Change' album is sitting back smiling at the new stuff! I guess when you're living in times like these it's hard not to be pissed off, and the music and lyrics are definitely a product of the anger we're all feeling. Also, we're just having fun writing these songs! Whether it's continuing to add little segues to parts, harmony shredding, or just making things more difficult to play, the bottom line is we're having a good time writing a 100% metal album. Not 'this or that metal' or whatever kinds of metal are out there, this is just 'fucking metal!!!!' We're also gonna be doing a week of dates on the Sounds Of The Underground tour!! A very welcome 'get the fuck out of the practice room and go do some damage' opportunity! Who knows...we might even be trying out a new song! From there we will move right into Sharkbite Studios and rehearse for a few days before we start recording in the 2nd week of August. Robb [frontman Robert Flynn] will be producing again along with Sir Markus O' Keatonous [Mark Keaton], and of course King Colin Richardson mixing once again!!!
"Also, I wanted to say a little something about a friend who recently died. His name was Steve Cooper and he had been the singer for one of my first bands, S.A. SLAYER. We were five kids that had formed a band solely on the basis that the IRON MAIDEN 'Killers' album was the best thing we'd ever heard in our lives!! He was easily one of the nicest guys any of us had ever met, a laid-back country boy vibe combined with a passion and voice built for our brand of metal. He will truly be missed."

Commented Lifeforce Records president Stefan Luedicke: "I'm very happy about the signing of NIGHTRAGE, a band I've been a fan of since their first release, 'Sweet Vengeance', on Century Media, but I'm sure their Lifeforce Records debut will easily kill their previous releases."
Marios Ilipoulos, NIGHTRAGE guitarist/songwriter, said: "We are proud about the signing with Lifeforce Records, this is really exciting for us and we feel that we will continue deliver our craft through a really nice partner like Lifeforce Records, who are into the music we are doing and together we can achieve really great things."
NIGHTRAGE will record their as-yet-untitled Lifeforce Records debut later this year at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden for early 2007 release.

WOLF Announce New Album TitleSweden's WOLF have set "The Black Flame" as the title of their fourth album, due this fall release via Century Media Records in Europe and Prosthetic Records in the U.S. The band are currently tracking the effort at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden and will be done recording by the end of June. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "The Bite", "I Will Kill Again", "Silverbullit Eater", and "Black Magic". The follow-up to 2004's "Evil Star" will be the first album to feature new drummer Tobias R Kellgren and longtime session/live guitarist Johannes Losbäck alongside founding members Niklas Stålvind (vocals, lead guitar) and Mikael Goding (bass).
With regards to the new album's musical direction, the band said, "Think old-school metal without beeing old-fashioned. It's heavy as hell and will hit you like a ton off bricks. It has a horror vibe to it that won't let you be, and it could be a soundtrack to old Eighties horror movies. Oh yes, it contains alot off heavy metal too...A LOT!"
WOLF was formed 1995 by Stålvind and Goding. After recording several demos, Daniel "Dale" Bergkvist (drums) joined the band in 1997 and completed the core lineup that recorded the first three albums: "Wolf" (2000), "Black Wings" (2002) and "Evil Star" (2004) — all of them recorded and produced at the Abyss studio by Peter Tägtgren.

HAMMERFALL: Release Date For New Album ConfirmedHAMMERFALL recently entered the studio to begin recording the follow-up to 2005's "Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken". The album will be released on October 20 through Nuclear Blast Records, with a single release of the track "Natural High" available on September 22. Other songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Carved In Stone", "Titan", "Dark Wings, Dark Words", "Shadow Empire", "Rebel Inside", "Threshold", "Howlin' With The Pac" and "The Fire Burns Forever".
Guitar player and main songwriter Oscar Dronjak comments: "Our goal was to get as heavy and energetic a production as we had on the previous albums, but to improve it and the performance even more. Musically, we built on the foundation of our previous work and developed the sound, and perhaps brought back some of the speed. Without losing the heaviness and the groove, of course. HAMMERFALL is, and always will be, a heavy metal band."
Everyone who will visit this year's Earthshaker Fest, set to take place July 21-22 in Kreuth, Germany, will get the chance to listen to one of those new tracks live. Says Oscar: "We will do 'The Fire Burns Forever', the song we recorded a video together with the Swedish athletics a couple of weeks back. As far as I know, it will be available for download during August only, so it will be in promotion for that. We're also going to bust out a few songs we haven't done in a while, just for fun."

IRON MAIDEN: New Album Details RevealedIRON MAIDEN plan to release their new studio album, entitled "A Matter of Life and Death", in early September.
The band started writing songs at the end of 2005 after a short break from their hugely successful festival appearances in Europe and the USA. After Christmas, the songs were completed and rehearsed when the band then got together with producer Kevin "Caveman" Shirley at Sarm West Studios in London to start work on recording the backing tracks.
Kevin Shirley has now co-produced three of the band's studio albums alongside Steve Harris, as well as two of their recent live DVDs and albums. From this the working relationship between Kevin and the band seems to get stronger and stronger. Says Kevin, "The beast is back! I feel from the outset we all clicked on this one. we spent two months in the studio, from go to whoa — from Nicko's 'tubs up' to final mixes and sequenced master! That's a tiny gestation period for an album. Producing IRON MAIDEN is like sitting in the head and driving one of those mammoth automatons from 'Star Wars' or Saturday morning cartoons! And there's nothing that can stop it!"
As on previous projects all of the tracks were performed live and together in one room. No click tracks or computer tightening or manipulation has happened at any stage of the recording.
Says Steve Harris, "I think in many ways this has been the easiest album in terms of recording that we've ever done. The whole process of writing through to recording was very natural. I think in terms of the material we've also pushed our boundaries yet again and I think it will please our fans but also really surprise a lot of people as well. The sound we've managed to get is very powerful for a MAIDEN record and all of us have pushed ourselves in our own ways to create something that we're all immensely proud of and I think working as quickly as we did with Kevin really was part of that process. We simply can't wait to take this out on the road. We've played some great shows and had a lot fun recently introducing some of our older songs to a new generation of fans. However for us personally we're incredibly excited about getting out and performing these new tracks."
Says Bruce Dickinson, "This album has to be our best since working with Kevin. There is such a wide scope of musicianship on this album and in parts this album is truly epic. I thought with the likes of 'Paschendale' from the last studio album that we could only hope to surpass that but having now heard the album back as well as sitting with a few select people and hearing their reactions as well, I truly believe we have managed it. Every one of us has put everything into this record and it's really paid off. However we've had such fun making it that it's almost difficult to believe what we've managed to achieve in the time it took."
"A Matter of Life and Death" track listing:
01. Different Worlds (Smith/Harris) 4:17
02. These Colours Don't Run (Smith/Harris/Dickinson) 6:52
03. Brighter Than a Thousand Suns (Smith/Harris/Dickinson) 8:44
04. The Pilgrim (Gers/Harris) 5:07
05. The Longest Day (Smith/Harris/Dickinson) 7:48
06. Out Of the Shadows (Dickinson/Harris) 5:36
07. The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg (Murray/Harris) 7:21
08. For The Greater Good of God (Harris) 9:24
09. Lord Of Light (Smith/Harris/Dickinson) 7:23
10. The Legacy (Gers/Harris) 9:20
The band have just announced tour dates in Japan and the majority of the European dates at the end of 2006 are already sold out.

LULLACRY Begin Writing New MaterialLULLACRY guitarist Sami Vauhkonen has posted the following message on the band's official web site:
"Right now when the summer is hot, we are about to start writing some new rockarollahmetal tunes for you! I have lots of different ideas in my twisted head and in my old Aiwa cassette recorder too, haha. It's too early to say what kind of album next one will be, but I am sure you can find there some serious kickass-melodic-hard rockin'-lullametal again. Before goin'underground to my secret songwriting laboratory, we'll do one helluva show just before Tuska Open Air at club On The rocks, June 29th. Bleed god damn hard rockin metal!"
LULLACRY released their fourth studio album, "Vol. 4", in the U.S. in February via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded at Astia Studios with Anssi Kippo (CHILDREN OF BODOM, ENTWINE) and at Finnvox Studio with Mikko Karmila (NIGHTWISH, STRATOVARIUS).
LULLACRY's first single off the new album, "Stranger in You", entered the Finnish single chart at position No. 16 upon its release in July 2005. The title cut was backed by a cover of KISS' "I Stole Your Love".
LULLACRY issued a five-song EP, "Fire Within", in August 2004, featuring two new songs ("Fire Within" and "The #1 Rebel"), two remakes of classic LULLACRY tracks, as well as a cover version of W.A.S.P.'s "L.O.V.E. Machine".

MOURNING BELOVETH Begin Writing New MaterialIrish doom metal act MOURNING BELOVETH have posted the following message on their official web site:
"Back from tour with PRIMORDIAL, MOONSORROW and our labelmates GARDENS OF GEHENNAH and it was probably the best tour yet, well organised, well attended and some great reactions. We even got to play Hungary, Vienna and Hamburg, Berlin, Leipzig where we hadn't been before and each night we were shouted back for more, even some slow handclapping some nights. Sold out shows in Arnheim and Biebob told the story of the tour really. People appreciating bands who play from the heart and not the usual merry-go-round of touring bands. Last weekend saw us appear with PRIMORDIAL again in London, another triumph for Irish metal as the attendance was close to the 300 mark. A great crowd response and some dodgy singing in the Intrepid fox later made sure we would be remembered.
"July should see the re-release, through Grau, of our first two albums, namely 'Dust' and 'The Sullen Sulcus' with no new material added however the artwork of 'Dust' will be slightly changed in line with our new paymasters…haha.
"The new album is coming along slowly, being broken up every few weeks with another gig but we are now going to concentrate on writing for the next few months. One song written already and a lot of ideas floating around but too early to tell anything yet."

DAYLIGHT DIES To Film 'Lies That Bind' VideoDAYLIGHT DIES will film their first-ever video this coming weekend for the song "Lies That Bind" from their latest album, "Dismantling Devotion", now available via Candlelight Records. Set to be filmed outside the band's base of Raleigh, North Carolina, the Ramon Boutviseth-directed clip will feature the full band with local actors in a plot that caters to the song's dark and compelling lyrical storyline.
After filming, DAYLIGHT DIES will prepare for their performances alongside labelmates EMPEROR in New York July 13 and 14. The band will play a warm-up date in Philadelphia on July 11 and later this year will kick off their first full tour in support of "Dismantling Devotion"; teaming up with Sweden's KATATONIA and Portugal's MOONSPELL.
"Dismantling Devotion" was mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios (OPETH, SOILWORK) and mastered by Thomas Eberger at The Cutting Room (OPETH, THE HIVES).

LAMB OF GOD: New Song 'Redneck' Posted OnlineA brand new LAMB OF GOD track, entitled "Redneck", has been posted online at www.sacrament2006.com.
"Redneck" is the first single off LAMB OF GOD's new album, "Sacrament", due on August 22 via Epic. A video for the song has reportedly been shot by director Bill Fishman (EAGLES OF DEATH METAL, GOOD CHARLOTTE).
"Sacrament" was produced by Machine (BLOODSIMPLE, WHITE ZOMBIE), who also helmed the group's 2004 effort, "Ashes of the Wake".
In a recent interview with MTV.com, LAMB OF GOD guitarist Mark Morton had the following to say about the upcoming CD: "The music's influenced by what the five of us are listening to, what we're writing about, the context in which we're writing, our lives and our experiences. We made a deliberate effort not to be so politically motivated this time. We still care about and think about those things, but at this point, creatively, we wanted to step out of that for a moment, and address some other things. So the lyrics are more introspective and more personal, and I think just about anybody will relate to them. Not everybody pays attention to the war or politics."

BEYOND TWILIGHT: Rare Songs From First Demo Available OnlineDanish/Swedish prog-metallers BEYOND TWILIGHT have made two very rare songs ("Eyes" and "Carousel of Life") from the band's 1996 demo "Lurking Fantasia" available for download at the band's official web site:
Eyes ( mp3)
Carousel of Life ( mp3)
The band's leader, Finn Zierler, commented: "The album ['Lurking Fantasia'] will never be released. It was just a rough demo never meant to be released. But since we keep getting requests about it we've made a special for you. Please keep in mind I wrote the track 12 years ago and it was recorded 10 years ago 1996. It is just a demo".
BEYOND TWILIGHT's latest release, "For the Love of Art and the Making", recently hit the No. 1 spot on the Top 100 Progressive Music Album Chart Of 2006 beating TOOL's "10,000 Days", DAVID GILMOUR's "On an Island", and QUEENSRŸCHE's "Operation Mindcrime II". The chart is compiled by ProgArchives.com, one of the most respected and progressive rock/metal online sources.
In a recent interview with Denmark's Antenna webzine, Zierler said of the band's latest effort, "'For the Love of Art and the Making' is by far the most complex album we've ever done. Everything about the album is complex. The compositions are huge — consisting of hundreds of layers and containing widely complex patterns rhythms and symbolisms. There are many 'hidden' details on the album — lots of stuff for music enthusiasts to analyze and for BEYOND TWILIGHT fans to enjoy and understand. The structure is very complex too. It's not structured like an ordinary album with tracks made out of verse, bridge, chorus etc. None of the musical pieces on the album are repeated twice the same way. You can compare the structure to reading a book, watching a movie or as a complex story with a lot of emotions being told in form of music."

SUFFOCATION Complete New CDLegendary death metallers SUFFOCATION have posted the following message on their official web site:
"We are happy to announce the completion of our new self titled-album, 'Suffocation'. We are anxious for it to hit the streets and are expecting an early September release date. We are confident with the outcome and look forward to the upcoming tours that will be scheduled to support it.
"The album will be out a few weeks prior to the start of the FEAR FACTORY, HYPOCRISY, DECAPITATED tour which will give you fans just enough time to familiarize yourselves to the pain we are anxious to bring to your city and town.
"Last but not least, SUFFOCATION bassist Derek Boyer is recovering from four broken bones. Derek's leg was broken 06/06/06. The good news is, Derek will be back on two feet in time for the tours this summer."
SUFFOCATION's latest CD, "Souls to Deny", was released in April 2004 through Relapse. The band's first full album of new material since 1995's "Pierced From Within" was recorded at Full Force with engineer Joe Cincotta and was described by drummer Mike Smith as "the cleanest, heaviest SUFFOCATION album to date."
