BUSH Unveils 'I Beat Loneliness' Album Details, Shares '60 Ways To Forget People' SingleHaving just returned from a triumphant set at Lollapalooza in São Paulo, Brazil, Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum rock band BUSH offer a glimpse of what's to come with "60 Ways To Forget People", a raw and emotionally charged taste from their upcoming 10th studio album, "I Beat Loneliness", due out July 18 on earMUSIC. Exploring the complexities of heartbreak, personal transformation, and the painful process of letting go, the track sets the tone for a bold new chapter. The official first single arrives June 5.
BUSH frontman Gavin Rossdale states: "What I feel about this record is it addresses the common struggles we all have. '60 Ways To Forget People' is an ode to sacrifice and a dedication to the focus it takes to be better. All the time and in all things."
Produced by Rossdale and Erik Ron (PANIC! AT THE DISCO, SET IT OFF, BAD OMEN),"I Beat Loneliness" marks BUSH's tenth studio album — a powerful testament to the band's enduring legacy and continued evolution. The record blends their grunge-rooted intensity with fresh textures and themes exploring mental health, solitude, and resilience.
"I Beat Loneliness" track listing:
01. Scars
02. I Beat Loneliness
03. The Land Of Milk And Honey
04. We're All The Same On The Inside
05. I Am Here To Save Your Life
06. 60 Ways To Forget People
07. Love Me Till The Pain Fades
08. We Are Of This Earth
09. Everyone Is Broken
10. Don't Be Afraid
11. Footsteps In The Sand
12. Rebel With A Cause
Following the release, BUSH will embark on a worldwide tour, launching April 21 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The band will then tour across North America from July 19 to August 30, before heading overseas to join VOLBEAT for a series of dates across Europe from September 18 through November 13.
In a recent interview with São Paulo, Brazil's 89 FM A Rádio Rock radio station, Rossdale stated about the 12 songs featured on "I Beat Loneliness": "I know that everyone [says] no one cares [about full albums anymore] and it's [all about] these singles, but I think that if I like an act, if I like a band, I just wanna hear their body of work. I don't wanna hear just one song. I'm a musician, so I wanna know what 12 ideas someone has, not just one idea. And so I'm excited for that. But I understand most people just listen to one song and move on, with so many bands. But [I'm] very excited about it."
Asked what fans can expect to hear on the new BUSH album, Gavin said: "Oh, it's in a similar vein to [2022's] 'The Art Of Survival' and [2020's] 'The Kingdom' — super detuned, super heavy, but there's moments of light. And so it's not like angst [all the way through], but it's just very… It is very sort of centered on people's mental health and well-being and those kind of challenges, because it becomes more and more apparent, people suffering more and more. So music is often the way that people — it's like a medicine. So it's really good to have heavy subjects within the songs, but the songs have loads of hope and light and lift you up. I want people to come see us and have a great experience. It's not a doom-and-gloom [collection of songs]; it's a sort of a, how do we fight the good fight?"
Gavin also spoke about the inspiration for the "I Beat Loneliness" title, saying: "The reason why I like that title — [there's] a song called that — is because anybody who has a degree of melancholy in their heart, and it's normal; sometimes you feel good, sometimes have a melancholy. And it's good to be reflective. You can't be smiling like a moron the whole time, like a maniac, so the idea of beating loneliness is that it's impossible, because you can't. But it's beautiful 'cause the idea is that if you feel you beat it, it's like a respite, and you're not in that mindset. But it's all temporary, because you come back and that sort of feeling can flood in. But I just like the idea 'cause it's impossible."
In January, Rossdale told Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada's 104.9 The Wolf radio station about "I Beat Loneliness": "I'm so thrilled about the record. It's successful to me because I'm really proud of it. And I think that people who like the band will be really, really into it and we might get some new fans as well. But it's good to feel fulfilled by when you make a record, and not, like, 'Oh, man. I should've done this, should've done that.' I think it's really good."
Earlier in January, Gavin told iHeartRadio's JD Lewis about the "I Beat Loneliness" title: "Well, it's one of those weird titles. It's an infinite title because you can never beat loneliness; you can just only beat it temporarily.
"I feel that the connection with the band and the power that we have, from talking to a lot of people that see us, is people can kind of connect with the music and connect with the words and make their own narratives about it," he continued. "But we've created this blueprint for people through the years.
"More and more mental health has been sort of brought to the discussion kind of around us all at the moment — people are talking about people's wellness a lot. And I've always been into that human-condition thing since the beginning of BUSH — it's like music of complaints and hopes and sort of disappointments and aspirations and all that stuff. So it's just like living.
"A lot of people are struggling so much that it's just such an ironic title, I thought," Rossdale added. "It's one of those things, when I thought of it and it just came, I was, like, 'Oh my god, it's a precious phrase.' And I just like that idea of that sense of bravado that you've beaten loneliness, because we all suffer from melancholia or whatever, and I think that's a healthy thing because it makes you reflective and sort of appreciative of the good times. And I'm not a negative person — I'm really positive — so I just think that you have to go through this sort of like storm clouds to get to the good bits. And so the title just stuck with me."
Rossdale also talked about the importance of youth mental health, especially as it relates to his three songs Kingston, Zuma and Apollo. He said: "I think it's absolutely essential, because I think that what happened is that with COVID, one of the biggest things for kids is COVID took away all that socialization. So all those two, three years where they were meant to be sort of learning how to be with their peers, I noticed with my own kids, that was taken away from them. They didn't have that time. And so I think that's been a real struggle for people, for kids especially, to learn how to adapt, how to be social, because they haven't had the same things that maybe we had. We didn't grow up through a pandemic. And so that is what really affects me. And kids are so mean — bullying in schools, ostracization, all that stuff. Kids are mean. And the way the world is set up is really scary for that."
Gavin went on to speak about the dangers of social media and how it is not an accurate reflection of society but more like a funhouse mirror distorted by a small but vocal minority of extreme outliers.
"Social media, expectations, people feeling they're not having a fulfilled life 'cause they look at Instagram or wherever and they see people with these great lives, when we all know that those lives are kind of hollow and have their have their troubles as well," he said. "But things are portrayed that people just get lost in that sort of rat race of thinking that they've gotta try and keep up with their friends. I mean, I look at Instagram and I'm always, like, 'Man, I need to live better.' I'm just, like, 'No, no, don't fall for it. Don't fall for it. Your life is fine. You have great things going on.' So I think that's where it's really difficult for kids, the sense that they're not in the right place at the right time. They're generally [of the opinion that they're] in the wrong place at the wrong time and everyone else is having a great time. And that's super dangerous for people to think that."
Rossdale previously talked about the "I Beat Loneliness" title in a December 2024 interview with Voice Of America's (VOA) "Border Crossings". Regarding why he chose to call the new BUSH record "I Beat Loneliness", the 59-year-old musician said: "Because I think that everyone is struggling the whole time." He added: "It's funny because when I reflect on the career that I've had and the songs that I've written, they do say that most people write one song over and over, and my theme that I've always dealt with is sort of people's mental health and their feelings and kind of the landscape of the landmines of hurt that we all live through. Everybody has so much broken stuff that they just sort of put the face on, go out and deal with it. But everybody having these crazy triggers — you see that suicide rates are insane, suicides among the military, the ex-military, men three times more likely to commit suicide as women. It's just people are hurting. And so my literal simple role in life, in that sort of Japanese concept of a vocation, is really writing songs about people and about feelings. And it's funny because when I began, it wasn't like that. You could just complain in songs, but I always wanted to have this sort of sense of hope, this sense of help and support and close community and people and love and friendship and kindness. And so I've written like that.
"So 'I Beat Loneliness', it's just probably the best title I've ever written because, of course, it's self-fulfilling in its impossibility," he continued. "'Cause you can't say you beat loneliness, 'cause if you say you beat loneliness, it means that you're a really melancholic person who beat loneliness for about 20 minutes, and it's coming back the next day like a boomerang. So I just like that idea of that bravado. It's strength. It's not bravado. It's strength in the face of adversity."
2024 marked the 30th anniversary of the release of BUSH's six-times-platinum debut album, "Sixteen Stone".
Last summer, BUSH celebrated its 30th anniversary with an extensive North American headline tour. The "Loaded: The Greatest Hits Tour" kicked off on July 26 in Bend, Oregon and included shows at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey and the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Most of the dates were produced by Live Nation. Jerry Cantrell and CANDLEBOX were the special guests on all dates.
BUSH released "Loaded: The Greatest Hits 1994-2023" in November 2023 via Round Hill Records. The set included a new song called "Nowhere To Go But Everywhere", which was written by Gavin and produced by Rossdale and Corey Britz.
With over 24 million records sold, 1.1 billion streams and a procession of No. 1 singles, the band — comprising Rossdale, Chris Traynor (guitar),Corey Britz (bass) and Nik Hughes (drums) — stand tall as rock outliers whose imprint only widens as the years pass. "Loaded: The Greatest Hits 1994-2023" (Round Hill Records),their first-ever greatest-hits collection, provides an expansive view of their incredible legacy with 21 tracks spanning nearly 30 years — from their breakthrough hit "Everything's Zen" to the aforementioned "Nowhere To Go But Everywhere".
"Loaded" included iconic hits from each of BUSH's nine studio albums as well as "Mouth" (The Stingray Mix) from the 1997 remix album "Deconstructed" and a cover of THE BEATLES' "Come Together" that saw a very limited release in 2012.
BUSH broke up in 2002 but reformed in 2010, and has since released five albums: "The Sea of Memories" (2011),"Man On The Run" (2014),"Black And White Rainbows" (2017) and the aforementioned "The Kingdom" and "The Art Of Survival".
"Black And White Rainbows" was crafted after Rossdale went through a divorce with pop star/reality TV judge Gwen Stefani in 2015.

EVANESCENCE Shares Music Video For Latest Single 'Afterlife'EVANESCENCE has launched a brand-new performance video for the track "Afterlife". The clip, which was directed by Jason Lester and produced by Dreambear, can be seen below.
"Afterlife" has been the fastest growing single in EVANESCENCE's career, with over six million audio streams and over five million video views of the lyric video in just its first week. It was co-written by critically acclaimed producer, songwriter and musician Alex Seaver, professionally known as Mako, and EVANESCENCE's Amy Lee and co-produced by Nick Raskulinecz and Seaver.
"Afterlife" is featured in Netflix's adult animated urban fantasy action television series "Devil May Cry", which debuted at No. 4 week of release. The series, a critical darling in the adult animation genre, remains in Netflix's Global TV Top 10 for the second consecutive week, and was recently renewed for a second season.
The video for "Afterlife" was shot in a historic (and supposedly haunted) house in Tennessee, and features some easter eggs that fans of "Devil May Cry" are sure to enjoy.
"Afterlife" is featured in multiple episodes of the animated adaptation of the popular Capcom game Devil May Cry, from the vision of Adi Shankar. Sinister forces are at play to open the portal between the human and demon realms. In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck.
While EVANESCENCE is primarily focused on creating new music this year, they also have some exciting performances planned for 2025, which include dates with MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, METALLICA and Halsey.
In a recent interview with Audacy Music, Lee stated about how "Afterlife" came together: "Netflix, via Mako, who is a guy that did score work on this series, 'Devil May Cry', had this song started and reached out to me and was, like, 'Hey, we'd worked together once before on a Lindsey Stirling track during the pandemic.' So, I made vocals to it, and we were kind of just communicating via e-mail. I still haven't met the guy in person. But he was, like, 'Hey, check it out. Would this be cool? Would you sing on this?' And that just snowballed into finishing the song together and then getting it, like, 'This is an EVANESCENCE song. Let's get the band in here. And let's just take this all the way.' And us getting to go into the studio with [producer] Nick Raskulinecz, who we did our last two albums with and love working with him. He is right here in Nashville, so it's fun and easy for me and I could just keep going over there and annoying him. And it kind of just happened, kind of fast."
Lee went on to say that she and her EVANESCENCE bandmates are "very excited to have new music. This is the first of many [new tracks]. We are working on a lot of songs right now for the new album, but this came up through Netflix, and we were just really excited to have an excuse to get in there right away."
Asked if there is a new EVANESCENCE album in the works, Amy said: "Yeah. I don't have a date for you. We are just working. We got off the road in November or something, and we've been just creative.
"When we book shows and we happen to have time in between that makes sense, like we have a show on a Saturday and we have another show, but it's not till the next Thursday 'cause it's festivals or whatever, it's, like, 'Hey, let's stick around, get an Airbnb and get some instruments together and see who's got an idea.' So we were doing some of that, and that can be fun and productive," she explained. "We got some cool locations out of it. We did one in Italy. But really spending the time in the studio, me just focusing and us taking the time to turn some of those ideas into real songs has been happening since. So, we've got a lot cooking, lot cooking. I don't have a date for you, but there'll be more and more and more music coming out."
Delivering a number of dynamic rock hits over the last two decades, EVANESCENCE recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of its landmark debut album, "Fallen", originally released in 2003. They recognized the milestone with a special anniversary edition of the smash album, which spawned gigantic rock hits like "Bring Me To Life", "Going Under" and "My Immortal", kickstarting a thriving career they're still carrying out today.
To date, EVANESCENCE has released a total of five studio albums, including the multi-platinum "The Open Door" (2004) and "Evanescence" (2011),both of which topped the Billboard 200. In 2021, the band thrilled fans with their first album of new material in a decade, "The Bitter Truth". Now 20 years on, EVANESCENCE continues to scale new heights. Featuring a lineup of Amy Lee (vocals, keyboards),Tim McCord (guitar/bass),Will Hunt (drums),Troy McLawhorn (guitars) and Emma Anzai (bass, backing vocals),the band continues to travel the globe, staging some of the most successful shows of their career, having wrapped a run of sold-out shows in Latin America, including Allianz Parque, a soccer stadium in Sāo Paulo, Brazil, which was the biggest headline show of EVANESCENCE's career to date, drawing 40,000 fans.
Shortly following its release in March 2021, "The Bitter Truth" rose to the top of the iTunes Album charts in 22 countries and also landed the top spot on Billboard's Top Hard Rock Albums chart.
EVANESCENCE first topped the Hard Rock Albums chart in October 2011 with its self-titled effort. The album stayed atop the list for three weeks.
"The Bitter Truth" was recorded during the pandemic and confronted the dark realities of the world head-on. Yet its resounding message was one of light: pushing through is better than giving up.

Former OZZY OSBOURNE Guitarist JOE HOLMES Releases New Song 'Speak Into The Sea' Feat. ROBERT TRUJILLO, MIKE BORDINFormer OZZY OSBOURNE and DAVID LEE ROTH guitarist Joe Holmes has shared a new single called "Speak Into The Sea". The track, which was made available under the Joe Holmes name, once again features a recording lineup that is similar to the one that tracked the debut album from Joe's FARMIKOS project, with Holmes on guitar, Robert Locke on vocals, and Holmes's former OZZY OSBOURNE bandmates, bassist Robert Trujillo (now in METALLICA) and drummer Mike Bordin (also of FAITH NO MORE) on drums. Also contributing melodies and lyrics to the song was Brent Hoffort.
In January, Holmes released a new song called "The Deadfall" featuring Locke, Trujillo and Bordin. A month earlier, he issued "Cross Eyed Stare" with the same recording lineup.
FARMIKOS's self-titled debut album was released in 2015 to critical acclaim. The disc contained ten original songs written by Holmes and Locke, with writing contributions on eight songs by Hoffort. Some of "Farmikos" featured Brooks Wackerman (AVENGED SEVENFOLD, ex-BAD RELIGION) on drums.
FARMIKOS was Holmes's first venture under his own flag since first attaining local notoriety with TERRIFF, an L.A. band he formed after taking guitar lessons as a teenager from none other than original Ozzy axeman Randy Rhoads. Holmes eventually went on to replace ALS-stricken Jason Becker on the 1991 David Lee Roth "A Lil' Ain't Enough" world tour.
In 1995, Holmes was brought to the attention of Ozzy Osbourne who was looking for a new guitarist to take over Zakk Wylde's spot for the "Ozzmosis" album touring cycle. Holmes would go on to co-write three songs, "Facing Hell", "Junkie" and "That I Never Had", which appeared on Ozzy's 2001 album, "Down To Earth".
Holmes began collaborating and creating material with Hoffort and then joined forces with vocalist and Arkansas native Locke in 2011 to put together ideas for what would become FARMIKOS.

FOZZY Shares New Single 'Fall In Line'FOZZY, the band featuring wrestling superstar Chris Jericho and STUCK MOJO mastermind Rich "The Duke" Ward, has released a new single, "Fall In Line". Available now on all major streaming platforms via Madison Records, the track is a no-holds-barred defiant roar from the front lines of rock 'n' roll.
Fueled by razor-sharp guitars, thunderous drums, and Jericho's signature powerhouse vocals, "Fall In Line" is pure fire — a hard-hitting anthem that dares listeners to stand up, speak out, and never fall in line.
Jericho comments: "'Fall In Line' is the most exciting and unique song FOZZY has recorded for so many reasons. It has the familiar FOZZY sound that's been our trademark for 25 years, yet sounds nothing like anything we've ever done. We feel its gonna be a massive addition to our catalog, and are stoked to unleash this tune to the world and play it live on our tour."
The 2025 leg of FOZZY's 25th-anniversary tour, dubbed "2025th Anniversary Tour" will include stops in 20 of the nation's most epic venues, bringing the band's electrifying live performances for fans in every city.
The trek, featuring support from LILIAC and THE NOCTURNAL AFFAIR, will kick off tonight (Thursday, April 17) in Springfield, Missouri and conclude on May 12 in Wyandotte, Michigan.
In a recent interview with Matt Pinfield of 95.5 KLOS's "New & Approved" show, Jericho reflected on the first leg of FOZZY's 25th-anniversary tour, which launched on October 3, 2024 at Madlife in Woodstock, Georgia. He said: "Yeah, we just finished kind of the first leg of our 25th-anniversary tour, which is crazy to think. We're gonna go out again, I think, in April and May, and we're gonna continue. We're gonna go to Canada."
He continued: "For the band to kind of be growing like we have — I mean, [FOZZY's 2017 breakout hit] 'Judas' has gone gold; it's on the way to platinum, almost there, probably about 90 percent of the way there. In this day and age, to have an almost platinum record is a pretty cool statement and a pretty cool, monumental accomplishment. So we're really proud of that. And getting a chance to play at Wembley a couple of times, and the shows that we've done in the U.K. are getting bigger and bigger, and in the States too. So it's been really cool to see kind of how the band has continued to succeed and, after all this time, still kind of on an upward swing. So it's a really cool time to be involved with FOZZY as well."
Elaborating on the success FOZZY has had at rock radio in the U.S., Jericho said: "We literally have eight Top 10 songs on the radio now. In the world of rock radio, you never realize how important it is until you start getting played on rock radio, and it really makes a difference. Not so much in L.A. and New York, 'cause it's more classic rock-oriented, but you go to the Midwest and Detroit and Cleveland and everywhere in between, Texas and up north, and rock radio is still very, very important."
Asked to speak about FOZZY's plans for the coming months in more detail, Chris said: "We're gonna continue the 25th-anniversary tour in April, back in the States again. But, yeah, we're gonna be doing this for the next year and change. And the thing is, too, we're working on a few new songs. And I think that's gonna be our business model from now on as well — just release a song at a time. I think the days of the full-length album might be done for us at least, 'cause there's too many great songs that we didn't get a chance to really promote or focus on. [FOZZY's latest album, 2022's] 'Boombox' had 12 songs on it. All of them were great. Four of them went to Top 10, another three get played live, and the other five just kind of get lost in the ether. And I don't want to lose these songs in the ether anymore. So I think we're working on another song that we'll probably put out in April around that tour. And then we'll just continue going from there."
The first U.S. leg of FOZZY's 25th-anniversary tour ran through October 21, 2024 in Cleveland, Ohio. Support on the tour came from THE NOCTURNAL AFFAIR and CLOZURE.
Asked in a recent interview with Jacksonville, Florida's First Coast News how FOZZY has managed to stay a band for 25 years, Chris said: "You really have to give and take when you're in a band, and you have to kind of do what you do best and let your partners do what they do best. It's like being on a team. And if you get on each other's nerves, you just go kind of sit in the back of the bus or you go for a walk somewhere or whatever it may be. But it really is, at this point in time, it's a very cohesive, symbiotic teamwork. And it's been going great, man. So we've had a lot of — we're very fortunate to be able to tour the world playing rock and roll. So you really can't complain too much about that."
"Fall In Line" is the follow-up to FOZZY's previous standalone single, "Spotlight", which was released in October 2023 via Madison Records/The Orchard. The track was helmed by FOZZY's longtime producer Johnny Andrews (THREE DAYS GRACE, ALL THAT REMAINS, HALESTORM) and sonically refined by mixer Jacob Hanson (VOLBEAT, AMARANTHE, ARCH ENEMY).
"Boombox" came out in May 2022 and featured "I Still Burn", which has more than three million views on YouTube. It also included the Top 10 singles "Nowhere To Run" and "Sane".
In the spring of 2023, FOZZY spent time on the road with UGLY KID JOE as part of the latter band's first tour of the United States in 27 years.
In January 2022, FOZZY parted ways with longtime drummer Frank Fontsere and replaced him with Grant Brooks (THROUGH FIRE).
Fontsere was a founding member of FOZZY, having formed the group in 1999 with Jericho and Ward.
When FOZZY announced Fontsere's departure, the band said that he was "stepping down to focus on his family and other projects."
FOZZY is Jericho, Ward, Brooks, Billy Grey (guitar) and P.J. Farley (bass).

WE CAME AS ROMANS Release New Single 'Bad Luck'Beloved metalcore torchbearers WE CAME AS ROMANS are back with a searing new single, "Bad Luck". The track marks the band's first release of 2025 and kicks off a bold new chapter following their critically acclaimed 2022 album "Darkbloom".
Fueled by thunderous grooves, anthemic hooks, and raw reflection, "Bad Luck" is a statement of defiance from a band that's weathered more than most.
Speaking on their new single, WE CAME AS ROMANS frontman Dave Stephens shares: "'Bad Luck' is a song that is so important to each of us. Lyrically, it's about our journey as a band since the very beginning. We've faced so many setbacks and problems behind the scenes, and sometimes it feels like bad luck is all we have — but the way that we've persevered through all of them to become who we are today is the real story, not the issues along the way."
"Bad Luck" opens with an eerie, looped vocal sample before exploding into a hammering riff and a soaring chorus. The lyrics lay bare years of struggle, survival, and growth, culminating in another of their signature, arena-ready choruses — "I spent all my life wondering why the bad luck always comes so easy… All this time, I've realized the worse things in life are free." It's a fierce reckoning with everything the band has persevered through together and a hard-earned rally cry—one that captures the essence of WE CAME AS ROMANS' evolution and unwavering commitment to push forward.
With performances already announced at major U.S. summer festivals, including Welcome To Rockville and Inkcarceration, the returning Warped Tour, Louder Than Life and When We Were Young, and with plenty more news to come from WE CAME AS ROMANS, 2025 is shaping up to be another stellar year for a band that have remained a defining force in heavy music for almost two decades. Keep an eye out for more coming very soon.
WE CAME AS ROMANS continue to progress and evolve at lightspeed, maintaining a place at the forefront of heavy music and culture. Never content to follow, they seamlessly alchemize crushing groove-driven catharsis, spacey electronics, and arena-size singalongs into a sound that refuses to sit still — effortlessly moving between metal, alternative, hardcore, and rock.
The Michigan-born five-piece — Dave Stephens, Joshua Moore, Lou Cotton, Andy Glass and David Puckett — first broke through with "Tracing Back Roots" (2013),which cracked the Billboard 200 Top 10 and hit No. 1 on both the Independent Albums and Top Hard Rock Albums charts. Their self-titled 2015 album followed, debuting at No. 11 on the Billboard 200, cementing their status as modern metalcore royalty.
Following the tragic loss of original vocalist Kyle Pavone in 2018, the band has continued to honor his legacy with their 2022 album, "Darkbloom", their highest-praised record to date. Kerrang! awarded it 4 out of 5 stars, calling it " a carrier for a knot of emotion, and a tribute to their friend." It featured career-defining tracks like "Black Hole" (featuring Caleb Shomo),now over 102 million Spotify streams, and "Daggers" (featuring Zero 9:36),which surpassed 32 million streams. Media outlets, including Loudwire and Consequence, praised the album for its emotional range, sonic heft, and unapologetic vulnerability. "Bad Luck" is the next step in their journey — an anthem born of loss, scars, heart, and unrelenting drive.

We're not just pushing boundaries — we're redefining them."
In a recent video message, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA vocalist Mike Hranica stated about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's follow-up to 2022's "Color Decay" album: " We're here in Toronto working, as we always do. We just wanted to provide a little bit of an update to all of our fans and listeners."
Added THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA guitarist/vocalist Jeremy DePoyster: "We basically have been, for the last two or three years, spending all of our time not on the road just renting out studios and rental houses and stuff, writing so much music, just kind of working on what comes next after 'Color Decay'. That was such a big moment for us and we really found our voice on the type of songs that we wanted to write and stories we wanted to tell.
"I think we still do have a lot of bad things in our head to say into the world," he continued. "Even a song like 'For You', it's a love song, but it's a really sad love song."
Mike added: "Jon [keyboardist Jonathan Gering] always makes a point of saying — well, all of us, I guess, make a point of saying — that we can't write happy songs. But I think also just the fact that we've created so many. I think back in the day when making our early albums, we basically would write like 12 tunes and be, like, 'All right, there's our record.' And now we're, like, there's dozens and dozens. And it's certainly different now.
"It's been quite a process since releasing 'Color Decay' and having that moment and doing so much touring around the world and whatnot," Mike said. "And now we're sitting on so many songs and refining and trying to perfect these things. Yeah, always working. And we're excited to keep churning it out and put it out there."
Two months ago, Hranica told U.K.'s Amped magazine about what fans can expect from the band's upcoming LP: " I think Jeremy's already kind of said this before, but we couldn't make happy songs if our lives depended on it. So when the next record inevitably comes along, and we have a lot of songs we're sitting on, people can expect to feel as sad as ever, because even when we kind of put it to the test to brighten things up, it's, like, that's just not THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA at all. So I don't wanna say more of the same, because that's the last thing that any artist wants to do, but it certainly hasn't gotten brighter, I'll say that."
As for a possible release date for the next THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA LP, Mike said: "I think we'll have a new record this year. We'll see. And then hopefully this time next year back [on the road] in E.U., U.K. and, yeah, doing it all over again. [It will be] year 21 [for THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA] by then, if we're not dead. So, we'll see."
Last November, DePoyster confirmed to Radioactive MikeZ, host of the 96.7 KCAL-FM program "Wired In The Empire", that he and his bandmates were working on a new THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA album. "We are, definitely," he said. "I mean, it's been about two years since we put ['Color Decay'] out. But we've been working on that record for a couple years since before then. We're really busy, like too busy. We've kind of spent every single moment that we're not on tour going out to California and renting some studios and writing a bunch of stuff. So we're sitting on a big pile of stuff."
Asked if THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA still believes in "the album philosophy" as opposed to focusing on singles, Jeremy said: "Oh my gosh, yeah. Dude, I'm old school, man. I still like records. [Laughs]"
He added: "You know what? A couple of years ago, I had a bunch of people telling me the record is dead. It's all about singles now. It's all about short form. And then a bunch of my friends in other bands just kept putting out records and we kept putting out records. And I'm, like, I don't think the suits really know what's going on. I think the fans and the bands definitely know what's going on. And I think people just, especially with physical media and putting an LP on and listening to it, there's just something about just from start to finish, a really well-curated track listing, and that sets the vibe that I don't think we'll ever go away from."
Asked if there is any sort of theme or direction for the new material that he and his bandmates have been working on so far, Jeremy said: "I think we all, particularly Mike and myself, and Jon, our keyboard player, that we write all the lyrics, and I think we all were, like, 'Man, I'm in a really good headspace. My life's really good. I'm feeling great. We've had a lot of great tours. My relationship's awesome.' And then we started writing, and it was, like, 'Oh, man. This is so depressing and so soul crushing.' And so I think there's just these little demons lurking in there that come out when you put the pen down and you're, like, 'Oh, I didn't even know that was in there.' … I think sonically, maybe I want it a little more upbeat, but it's kind of like a pop song that just destroys your life type of thing — with some breakdowns. You can't get away from the breakdowns."
THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA's headline "Metalcore Spring Break Tour" kicks off tonight (Thursday, April 17) in Wichita, Kansas and runs through May 14 in Charleston, South Carolina. ERRA, KINGDOM OF GIANTS and ACRES will serve as support. The band will also appear at Sonic Temple and Welcome To Rockville festivals along the way. THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA will also take part in the blockbuster "Summer Of Loud" tour with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, BEARTOOTH, PARKWAY DRIVE, I PREVAIL, and more this June and July.
"Color Decay" followed 2019's "The Act". As Revolver stated when selecting the record as one of the "50 Most Anticipated Albums Of 2022," "THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA have proven time and time again that it's possible to never stop sonically experimenting — with screamo, with spoken word, with atmospheric electronica, with sludge — and never lose their own crushing identity. Anticipating their next successful risk is one of the things that makes being a TDWP fan so rewarding."
THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA have been consistently delivering since forming in 2005. Fans voted 2009's seminal "With Roots Above And Branches Below" one of the "5 Greatest Metalcore Albums" in a Revolver poll, with the magazine christening it "a true metalcore landmark." The group has notched six consecutive Top 5 debuts on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums chart, including "Dead Throne" (2011),"8:18" (2013),"Space" EP (2015),"Transit Blues" (2016),"The Act" (2019) and "ZII" EP (2021). The latter served as a sequel to one of their most beloved projects — 2010's "Zombie" EP. In the wake of the EP, the group exceeded a quarter of a billion cumulative streams and views. During 2021, the musicians decamped to remote hideaways together in Wisconsin and Desert Hot Springs, California. This time around, keyboardist/programmer Jonathan Gering took the reins as producer, collaborating closely to assemble a rich sonic architecture for what would become "Color Decay".

A-Z, Which Features FATES WARNING's RAY ALDER And MARK ZONDER, Announces Sophomore AlbumHard rock band A-Z returns with its sophomore album, "A2Z²", on June 6 via Metal Blade Records. Spearheaded by legendary drummer Mark Zonder (FATES WARNING, WARLORD) and along with former FATES WARNING bandmate Ray Alder on vocals, "A2Z²" builds on the groundwork laid on the acclaimed 2022 self-titled debut album.
The title "Nothing Is Over" — the first single from "A2Z²" — serves as a de facto statement announcing the quintet's 10-song sophomore effort and musical M.O. It's the initial track Zonder and guitarist Nick Van Dyk (REDEMPTION) wrote when they began working on "A2Z²" with Alder.
Music trends may be ever-changing, but classic rock 'n' roll is indeed never over, and A-Z remains committed to heavy music that's sophisticated but hooky and accessible. Helping achieve those aural goals are bassist Philip Bynoe (STEVE VAI, RING OF FIRE, WARLORD),Italian guitarist Simone Mularoni ("A2Z²" mixing/mastering, DGM) and keyboard player James Waldo (ALCATRAZZ, NEW ENGLAND). "Nothing Is Over" is heavier and deeper than what the band explored on their debut LP, with a bit more prog playing, but still featuring a big chorus hook and plush vocals. Alder's lyrics were inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's short story "The Outsider".
The band known as A-Z began when Zonder started working on material in early 2020 with a clear vision for the band he wanted to put together. "I was thinking beer commercials, car commercials and 'Cobra Kai'. I wanted a very accessible band that would appeal to the masses," he says. The band's name — standing for "Alder through Zonder" — was an easy choice that would never pigeonhole the lineup's sound. "What I liked is that it did not limit what someone would think of the band," says Zonder. "If we named the band SCARY SERPENT, it would give a certain direction and didn't want people to prejudge us."
The band members are legendarily prolific, which allows for an amazing dynamic where, as Zonder explains. "When you find the right guys, you just let them do whatever they want," he says. "Everybody's a seasoned pro and all the different ingredients come together, make it what it is. That live and recording experience allows A-Z to instinctively know how not to step on each other musically."
"We're all about the songs, the band, not what each of us does in it. It's simple," they all agree. "It's about the music as a whole," says Zonder, "I guarantee you everybody's into something completely different musically, and that's where the magic to me comes from, taking different influences and everybody doing what they do to create A-Z. We're not 20-year-old kids. We're at the point where if you're gonna go, just go big. And that's what we've done on 'A2Z²'."
"A2Z²" track listing:
01. Fire Away (4:37)
02. Running In Place (4:58)
03. Nothing Is Over (4:18)
04. A Wordless Prison (6:04)
05. Reaching Out (4:16)
06. The Remedy (5:06)
07. I Am Numb (4:03)
08. This Chaotic Symphony (5:10)
09. Learning To Fly (4:38)
10. Now I Walk Away (5:39)
A-Z is:
Ray Alder - Lead and Backing Vocals
Philip Bynoe - Bass Guitar
Nick Van Dyk - Guitars
Simone Mularoni - Lead Guitars
Jimmy Waldo - Keyboards
Mark Zonder - Drums

CANDICE NIGHT Streaming New Single “Unsung Hero (She’ll Never Tell)”“Unsung Hero (She’ll Never Tell)” is the third single from award-winning musician and singer Candice Night’s upcoming solo album, Sea Glass, set to be released on April 25, via earMUSIC as a limited-edition LP, CD Digipak, and Digital. Pre-order/pre-save the album here.
“Unsung Hero (She’ll Never Tell)” celebrates the quiet strength of a heroine. She accomplishes so much that goes unnoticed, all while battling her inner demons. Despite her struggles, she never complains and continues to support others selflessly.
“I wrote ‘Unsung Hero (She’ll Never Tell)’ in the middle of the night one night and …the great inspiration for that song and for many things in my life is my mom. She’s amazing. But as I was writing it and as I was singing it I did see some flashes of myself in there. And I also saw flashes of basically every woman that I know.”
Candice Night’s next single is a tribute to all the “Wonderwomen” out there who don’t receive the recognition they deserve.
The upcoming music video follows interwoven stories of women from all walks of life as they battle their ‘dragons’ – shadowy fears and anxieties – as they find their own way forward, showing that heroism isn’t always about grand gestures: it’s in the quiet resilience of everyday struggles.

PROGENY OF SUN Unleash New Single / Video “Penance”Finnish blackened death metal band Progeny of Sun is set to release the second studio album in autumn 2025 via Inverse Records. The first single, “Penance” is unleashed today and the official music video is available below.
“Penance” is available via streaming services here.
Guitarist Jaakko Hautamäki comments:
“Niko kindly mentioned that the boys should start making more songs because time was running out. Following this command, Joni and I started working. At first, we did the easy parts and then gathered anger for the next ones. I started creating a song that wouldn’t begin with a blast beat, wouldn’t end with a new riff, and would contain three choruses. The spark for the song came from a piece of melody I improvised 20 years ago. I adapted it to a new form, changed the major keys to minor keys, and added only double bass drums. I finally got it on tape, which had been playing in my head for decades. When the song was finally assembled, I had an even better idea: to leave that section out entirely. Niko created the vocals almost instantly for the first demo with a message ‘What can you do when one just sends me this kind of nuclear waste?’ We scratched our heads, and suddenly the song was complete. The rhythm section participated in the composition work by nodding along.”
In the beginning, Progeny of Sun was a two-man band formed by Jaakko Hautamäki and Niko Aromaa. Jaakko was responsible for the instrumentals, mixing, and mastering, while Niko handled the vocals, lyrics, visuals, etc.
The songs Jaakko introduced were very versatile. Some had speed, some were slow, some painted a picture with their atmosphere, and some were more straightforward bangers. Despite the diversity in style, everything worked exceptionally well in tandem, and from this premise, the band started to develop and pave its own way forward.
To start with, Progeny Of Sun created a 6-song self-titled EP and discovered that their music was met with great reception. The duo behind the band did all the mixing, mastering, videos, and artwork themselves. The project as a whole was very fun and rewarding to work on.
After the EP release, Jaakko and Niko began to think that something more was still needed. They still had a burning desire to spread their music around the world, but with just two people, it would have been impossible.
Subsequently, Jaakko found two local musicians from the Seinäjoki area: Joni Kiviniemi (guitar) and Juha Peura (drums). Joni and Juha were initially brought on board just to offer their vision and play their assigned instruments for new material. Soon, however, it began to feel like they were part of the family, and so it was decided that they would become full-fledged members of the squad and a part of the band’s story. Not long after, Tuomo Tolkki (bass) was also welcomed to join, and in a matter of a few months, the full lineup was formed.
The first release with the full lineup, a 3-track EP, Dark Wanderer, was released in 2021. Next in line were the single releases, “Worthless” and “Anguish”, which were released in 2022. Thanks to the aforementioned experimental phase, Progeny of Sun has gained self-confidence and started to understand its own identity. The band worked hard on the debut album, Throne Of Desolation, which was released at the end of 2023. Progeny Of Sun’s second album, Prophets Of The Void, will be released in September 2025.

Watch: DIRTY HONEY Performs 'When I'm Gone' On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' After Song Is Featured In 'A Minecraft Movie'DIRTY HONEY performed the song "When I'm Gone" on last night's (Tuesday, April 15) episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" The track, which was originally released in 2019, is featured in "A Minecraft Movie". It plays during the first two and a half minutes of the film while Jason Momoa's character Garrett "The Garbage Man" Garrison is introduced.
Prior to taking the stage at "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", DIRTY HONEY singer Marc LaBelle told The Daily Gazette: "We're going on late-night TV and performing a song that's five, six years old already. I doubt that happens too often. Time is the most important ingredient for success."
This past February, DIRTY HONEY issued "Mayhem And Revelry Live", the Los Angeles-based first live-in-concert, double-vinyl CD and digital release, and its companion four-part video documentary, recorded live throughout North America and Europe on DIRTY HONEY's 2023-24 "Can't Find The Brakes" world tour.
DIRTY HONEY made music biz history in 2019 when the band's debut single, the aforementioned "When I'm Gone", went all the way to No. 1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock and Hard Rock charts, making DIRTY HONEY the first — and still only — totally independent, unsigned artist to achieve that. The band sold out its first two U.S. headline tours, Rolling Stone named them an "Artist You Need To Know," their self-titled, debut album was released in April 2021, and with no major label affiliation or support, entered the Current Hard Rock Album chart at No. 2. The band received rave reviews and standing ovations when they opened for THE BLACK CROWES on that band's nine-week summer 2021 "Shake Your Money Maker" U.S. amphitheater tour, and averaged $15,000 a night in t-shirt/merch sales.
DIRTY HONEY first toured Europe in summer 2022, playing support dates with RIVAL SONS, KISS and GUNS N' ROSES, plus a handful of first-time headline shows, all sold out, many of which had to be moved to larger venues due to ticket demand. In January 2023, they returned for their very first full headline tour there — 30 shows in 13 countries, all dates sold out. June/July 2023 saw them playing support shows with GUNS N' ROSES and KISS, plus major festival appearances and headline dates — 21 shows in 12 countries — with all headline dates sold out.
DIRTY HONEY will embark on another European tour in June, visiting 23 cities throughout the summer, before returning stateside to play the Rocklahoma festival in Pryor, Oklahoma in August.

ROB DUKES On His Return To EXODUS: 'I Didn't Expect It'In a new interview with Nikki Blakk of the San Francisco Bay Area radio station 107.7 The Bone, EXODUS singer Rob Dukes, who rejoined the band in January, spoke about the progress of the recording sessions for the San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal legends' follow-up to 2021's "Persona Non Grata" album. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "[We are] tracking vocals [right now]. Well, they're pretty much doing everything, so they got the drums done and then some guitars and they're doing the rhythms and all that. And then me and Jack [Gibson, EXODUS bassist], him doing the bass, we kind of trade off and on days, 'cause I can only go for two or three hours and then I'm kind of spent for the day until the next day."
Asked how many tracks will be on the new EXODUS album, Dukes said: "It's 11. And it's fucking heavy as fuck, man. I mean, it is fucking heavy and dark and cool. But what's surprising to me about it was there was a little bit of MOTÖRHEAD-y rock stuff going on. I'm, like, 'Oh, cool, man. This is a little departure from the norm.' It was really cool. And so I get to step outside the box a little bit, which is nice, man. It's kind of cool. Good challenge."
Elaborating on the sound of the new EXODUS material and how it compares to the band's previous output, Rob said: "Well, EXODUS is always gonna [sound like] EXODUS because they don't sound like anybody else. And that's just Gary [Holt, EXODUS guitarist] and Tom [Hunting, EXODUS drummer] and Lee [Altus, EXODUS guitarist]. The way they do things is just different.
"I really can't compare it to anything else, but there are elements of everything, but they've stepped outside those elements also, and they're doing a couple things that I'm, like, 'Wow, that's fucking new. All right, cool. Yeah, I'm in.' You know what I mean?" he explained. "And it'll be cool, man. And it doesn't take away from the fucking heaviness of it or anything. It's just a little different, but it's fucking cool."
Dukes went on to say that EXODUS is still "definitely setting the bar pretty high when it comes to thrash. I mean, Gary and Tom, they're just fucking unbelievable, man," he said. "And I feel really honored and privileged to be a part of it."
Reflecting on how he came to rejoin EXODUS after a 10-year absence, Dukes said: "It's like a crazy thing to happen. I didn't expect it. I didn't know I was getting a phone call before I got it. And I had to think about it, you know what I mean? I have a whole life that I built up. So it was kind of, like, 'All right, well, let me talk about it and think about it.' And then I was, like, 'All right, cool. Let's do it, man. Let's go have fun.' Yeah."
"I found out right around Christmas," he revealed. "I forget what day it was. It was right around Christmas, though. But yeah. And, yeah, I immediately started listening to… They gave me a list of songs that are possibly in the setlist moving forward, and then the setlist for this show. I've been listening every day and just trying to remember the words and the phrasings and stuff."
Referencing the fact that EXODUS is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the band's classic debut album, "Bonded By Blood", in 2025, Rob said: "This album has been with me so long, I feel stupid when I don't remember [some of the words]. But one thing I do is I kind of… It's like this thing when you think about something that's coming up that you [have] trouble remembering. You're not in the moment that you're in, and then that moment becomes compromised. And so I've been jumping lines. But I've been okay with it. I actually remembered a lot more than I thought I was gonna, and I did a rehearsal two days ago and I didn't use any notes. And I kind of realized, 'Okay, so this is the one I'm having trouble with. This one I'm having trouble with.' So, I made notes for those. But we'll see, man. It'll be all right."
He continued: "I always had a thing, like when I would tour, I would use a cheat sheet for a couple shows and then three or four shows in, I didn't need it anymore. But for a couple shows I would rely on it because I would [be, like], 'What's the first word of that verse?' And it was coming up and I wouldn't remember it. And then I looked down and go, 'Oh, okay. That's it.' And once I knew the first word, I was fine. And then muscle memory came in. And, like I said, four or five shows, I didn't need it anymore. I stopped doing it. I just have to write what city I was in, 'cause I would forget. I've said the wrong city a couple of times, which is quite embarrassing. I try to make a joke about it."
EXODUS played its first concert with Dukes in nearly 11 years on April 5 at the Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest: Philly at the Fillmore in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Fan-filmed video of that concert can be seen below.
In January it was announced that EXODUS had parted ways with longtime singer Steve "Zetro" Souza and had reunited with Dukes.
Souza joined EXODUS in 1986 after previously fronting the band LEGACY (which later became TESTAMENT). He remained in the band until their hiatus in 1993, but rejoined them for two years from 2002 to 2004. Dukes had joined EXODUS in 2005 (following Souza's departure) and remained until 2014, when Souza rejoined.
Regarding how he ended up back in the EXODUS fold, Rob told Mark Strigl in February: "How it happened was Lee and Gary called me, and Tom called me, and they all spoke to me individually to kind of see where I was at. And then they asked me, and I said, 'Sure.'
"I'm not gonna talk about why they did what they did [as far as parting ways with Zetro] — that's on them to talk about, 'cause I have no idea," he continued. "I mean, I kind of do, but it's not my place. So, I'll let them handle that end.
"I was as surprised as you, man," Dukes admitted. "I mean, when I got the call… Me and Gary didn't speak as much, but me and Tom talk all the time. Me and Lee constantly talk about hockey and give each other shit — I'm a Rangers fan; he's a Flyers fan — so we're always in contact, especially during hockey season. And then, like I said, man, it came out of nowhere for myself too. And I took a day and decided, 'Yeah, okay, I can make it work.' 'Cause I have to put my life on hold, the life I've been building for 10 years as a car builder and a welder. But I sat down with the people I work for and the people I work with and I explained the situation and they were all, like, 'Yeah, go do it, man. You only live once.' And I was, like, 'Yeah, cool. That's exactly how I was thinking about it.' So, it all worked out, man. And everybody's stoked and happy."
Dukes previously joined EXODUS in January 2005 and appeared on four of the band's studio albums — "Shovel Headed Kill Machine" (2005),"The Atrocity Exhibition... Exhibit A" (2007),"Let There Be Blood" (2008, a re-recording of EXODUS's classic 1985 LP, "Bonded By Blood") and "Exhibit B: The Human Condition" (2010).
During an appearance on a recent episode of the "Rock And Roll Geek Show" podcast, which is hosted by former EXODUS bassist Michael Butler, Holt opened up about Souza's departure, saying: " People ask [why we fired Zetro] — everybody wants to know because we've chosen not to tell anybody. All I ever tell people is, marriages don't often work. And just 'cause you saw a married couple out in public that seemed happy, you don't know what's going on at home. I don't know if the wife's throwing frying pans at his head or he's fucking drunk out of his ass, fucking screaming at him and slapping the kids. You don't know. Just 'cause they go out in public and they put on a happy face.
"We've got nothing but respect for Zetro, and we've got love [for him] and I'm honored to have made some great music [with him]. But I'm also 60 years old, and the five of us need to be on the same page. And now we are."
After Butler suggested that musicians sometimes have different personalities and "people can get on your nerves sometimes", Holt clarified: "It's not even a matter of [anything] like that because we all get on each other's nerves. It's just as you get older, this job, either you still love it or it becomes incredibly difficult… For me, [it's] fucking not [difficult] at all. And so, for whatever our reasons, four guys had a reason to do what we did."
Regarding why he and his EXODUS bandmates decided to bring Dukes back to the group, Gary said: "I'm 60 years old. The idea of getting an unfamiliar person in the band would not be an option… I think we all reached out when we became apparent. And sure, I could have found some 30-year-old dude who could still jump off a drum riser and has washboard abs and is not all fat like the rest of us. But I need someone who's close to my own age. I'm too old to have to like fucking educate some young kid on music that I like."
Although EXODUS rarely gets mentioned alongside the so-called "Big Four" of 1980s thrash metal — METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER and ANTHRAX — the aforementioned "Bonded By Blood" LP inspired the likes of TESTAMENT, DEATH ANGEL, VIO-LENCE and many others to launch their careers and is considered one of the most influential thrash metal albums of all time.

Ex-FEAR FACTORY Singer BURTON C. BELL On Opening For OZZY OSBOURNE Nearly 30 Years Ago: His Fans 'Didn't Wanna See Us'In a new interview with Australia's "Everblack" podcast, former FEAR FACTORY singer Burton C. Bell was asked if he is planning to attend Ozzy Osbourne's final concert with BLACK SABBATH in July at the Villa Park in Birmingham, United Kingdom. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Unfortunately, no. I couldn't afford to go. But I wish I could be there. It's gonna be fantastic.
"I was on a magazine cover twice with Ozzy, and I've got both of 'em here [at my house]," Burton continued. "One of 'em is signed by Ozzy, which is killer. But I remember the first time, very first BLACK SABBATH reunion, FEAR FACTORY was the only opening band. It was '99 in Birmingham at the NEC. And we were the only opening band. And I remember standing while BLACK SABBATH was playing. Henry Rollins was there, and I'm standing next to this tall dude. I'm, like, looking up. I'm, like, 'It's fucking [QUEEN's] Brian May. Holy fuck. I'm standing next to Brian May. Holy fuck.'
Bell added that opening for BLACK SABBATH "was a big moment" for him and his then-FEAR FACTORY bandmates. "FEAR FACTORY had been opening for Ozzy already on his 'Retirement Sucks' tour, which was, like, '96," he said. "And we did three months throughout the United States and Europe. And Europe was fucking tough, because we were the only opening band and all those people in Europe, they didn't wanna see us. They just wanted to see Ozzy. So they were just literally standing there watching us. And I'm in the front singing, just [with my middle finger extended]. And after every one of our shows, they just threw shrapnel up — coins. And I collected enough coins to buy a beer. It was worth it. I got spat on a lot."
Bell issued two solo singles in 2024 — "Anti-Droid" and "Technical Exorcism" — and a cover of RAMMSTEIN's "Du Hast" in 2023.
A new single from Burton called "Savages" is expected to be released later this spring.
Bell played the first concert with his solo band on June 13, 2024 at 1720 in Los Angeles, California.
Backing Bell at his recent gigs have been guitarist Henrik Linde (THE VITALS, DREN),drummer Ryan "Junior" Kittlitz (ALL HAIL THE YETI, THE ACID HELPS),bassist Tony Baumeister (ÆGES) and multi-instrumentalist Stewart Cararas.
Bell's discography includes multiple live and recorded collaborations with BLACK SABBATH icon Geezer Butler and JOURNEY's Deen Castronovo (as G/Z/R); industrial maverick Al Jourgensen and MINISTRY; and guest vocal appearances with PITCHSHIFTER, CONFLICT, SOIL, STATIC-X, SOULFLY and DELAIN, among others. He's the vocalist of ASCENSION OF THE WATCHERS and CITY OF FIRE and, of course, the co-creator of FEAR FACTORY and the only musician to appear on every FEAR FACTORY release from 1992 through 2024.
FEAR FACTORY created a sound that revolutionized extreme metal, defined in no small part by Bell's innovative scream/sing dichotomy and the influences he brought from post-punk and industrial. Songs like "Replica", "Linchpin", "Edgecrusher", "Fear Campaign", "Archetype", "Cyber Waste" and "Zero Signal" are modern metal anthems. "Demanufacture" (1995) and the RIAA gold-certified "Obsolete" (1998) are genre-redefining works heralded by fans and critics as essential albums. Orwell, Bradbury, "Blade Runner", and sophisticated sci-fi and fantasy works fed Bell's lyrics and concepts.
The band toured the world with METALLICA, SLIPKNOT, KORN, MEGADETH and OZZY OSBOURNE, taking bands like SYSTEM OF A DOWN and STATIC-X out as support acts in their early stages. After years of behind-the-scenes band member turmoil and legal issues, Bell left FEAR FACTORY in the fall of 2020.
The 56-year-old Bell had been largely inactive on the musical front since officially announcing his departure from FEAR FACTORY in September 2020. At the time he said that he could not "align" himself with someone whom he did not trust or respect, an apparent reference to FEAR FACTORY founding guitarist Dino Cazares. Bell has since been replaced in the band by the Italian-born singer Milo Silvestro.
