CRADLE OF FILTH Announces New KeyboardistCRADLE OF FILTH has announced the addition of keyboardist Anabelle Iratni to the band's ranks.
Iratni, who previously played alongside CRADLE OF FILTH frontman Dani Filth in DEVILMENT, as well as her own group VEILE, made her live debut with CRADLE OF FILTH on Wednesday (May 12) during the band's livestreamed concert.
Anabelle joined CRADLE OF FILTH as the replacement for Lindsay Schoolcraft, who announced her departure from the group in February 2020 after a seven-year run.
CRADLE OF FILTH has set "Existence Is Futile" as the title of its 13th studio album, due later this year via Nuclear Blast Records. The LP was once again recorded at Grindstone Studios with producer Scott Atkins and features artwork from Arthur Berzinsh, who previously worked with CRADLE on 2015's "Hammer Of The Witches" and 2017's "Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness Of Decay".
This past December, Dani said that isolation and lack of live touring amid the coronavirus pandemic has contributed to making CRADLE OF FILTH's upcoming LP "our best album of current years, if not all time." He wrote on CRADLE's Facebook page: "There was absolutely no pressure to turn the album in. In fact, there really was nothing better to do than indulge our creative juices and thus a huge swathe of the year was spent in the sultry depths of the Suffolk countryside polishing and perfecting our latest musical excretion.
"It's an absolute killer of an album (if you forgive my self-flattery), with an immense production courtesy of Scott Atkins and Grindstone studios once again, and I'd like to be able to describe it to you but there is so much bubbling intently in this album," he continued. "Fast and slow parts (and faster still), new delectable flavours and those reminiscent of earlier COF albums galore, massive choruses and melancholic drop-downs, old skool melodic NWOBM amid furious, scathing black metal amid apocalyptic groove and we as a band can't wait for everyone to hear it…. And more importantly, experience our birthed monster live."
Last October, Dani told Metal Injection that CRADLE OF FILTH's follow-up to "Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness of Decay" was turning out to be "fantastic" and "probably the best album we've written. We've had the opportunity to really dig deep into it and work hard on the tracks, and, if necessary, rewrite parts, which we have done," he said. "I certainly have rewritten parts and have no qualms about Scott saying this just isn't good enough compared to all the other songs on the record. But I would say it's not very different from 'Cryptoriana'. It's not as intricately laced. That album spoke of the times it was trying to assimilate and represent. This album is about existential terror. The threat of everything. The end of the world, the end of one's life, existential dread. A little hope, I guess in there. It's a CRADLE OF FILTH record. The songs are strong. They're extreme, but it's a mixture of everything."
Regarding what is has been like working with Atkins again, Dani said: "It's very comfortable recording with him. You know, he's very free and easy with how he talks to me. There's no pandering; we're good friends and we can talk to each other how we want. His studio is not far from where I live. It's in the countryside, so during lockdown, I was able to travel to and from the studio. We had less hours to work. We had nothing more that we could do. There was no pubs that we could saddle off to over lunch time — it was just work, work, work. And it was nice, relaxed and, fortunately, lockdown in England's been okay, because we've had some fantastic weather this year."
After a triumphant debut at our live stream yesterday, please all welcome Anabelle to Cradle Of Filth!...

DESASTER Release "Endless Awakening" Lyric VideoOn June 4, Desaster will release their new album, Churches Without Saints, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of the record, a lyric video for the new single, "Endless Awakening", can be viewed below.
Since 1989, Germany's Desaster have been churning out their unique and unholy blend of extreme metal, and in 2021 they return with perhaps their most powerful album to-date, the towering Churches Without Saints. "It's a typical Desaster old school black-death-thrash metal album, with a lot of aggression, but also great atmosphere and epic tunes!" enthuses guitarist and founding member Infernal. With a simple remit of making an album full of "neck-breaking songs", the quartet have once again proven themselves leaders in their chosen genres, giving their faithful and newcomers alike plenty to salivate over.
With a five-year gap elapsing since they dropped last album The Oath Of An Iron Ritual, fans have had to be very patient, but will find the results more than worth the wait. This new effort also features Hont taking over behind the kit from previous drummer Tormentor, bringing a welcome change to the way they work. "He's a very skilled drummer and can play really anything. Whereas in the past the songwriting was a lot of 'trial and error' with testing many rhythms, we nowadays can work much more efficiently. Hont knows what rhythms fit to the riffs immediately. He has studied Desaster's music in detail and knows what works best, but he is not just copying Tormentor's style - he brings his own skilled style into the music, and also some new rhythms and figures. That of course brings some fresh wind into the songs."
The record was tracked in the band's rehearsal room and was recorded, mixed and mastered by their live mixer Jan "Janosch" Gensheimer. This led to a very relaxed atmosphere throughout the whole process, having rehearsed a lot prior to recording and also doing a full pre-production demo with their own equipment, meaning they could record very fast and without many mistakes. They did however change things up a little, sonically speaking. "It was a big goal for me to change the sound a bit," says Infernal. "Whereas the last albums had a very harsh sound, where the mid and high frequencies were dominating, I wanted a warmer and smoother sound this time. I always liked the sound of our 'Tyrants of the Netherworld' album from 2000 very much, and the new album is an effort to develop this sound with more details and different instruments. On 'Tyrants', we had the rough mud of deepest hellish caves, now we present you the black lava which is flowing around the throne of Satan himself!" And having achieved everything they set out to, Churches Without Saints definitively starts a new and exciting chapter in one of extreme metal's most consistently thrilling bands.

PERFECT PLAN Singer KENT HILLI Streaming New Solo Song "I Can't Wait"; AudioFrontiers Music Srl will release the debut solo album from Perfect Plan vocalist Kent Hilli, entitled The Rumble, on June 18. Listen to the song "I Can't Wait" below, and pre-order/save the album here.
Kent Hilli’s debut solo album, The Rumble, is the culmination of the musical path that the Swedish singer started journeying down since he debuted with Swedish melodic rock upstarts Perfect Plan. To craft the album, Kent joined forces with Mike Palace, who produced the album. This musical partnership has turned out to be a “match made in heaven”. Mike is an amazing talent and together with Kent they have developed an incredible chemistry that really caught the sound Kent was envisioning for the album.
"My goal with this album, musically, was to find a classic yet modern feel and sound and to differ a bit from what I'm known for with Perfect Plan. I also wanted to make a diverse album containing everything from rockers to ballads. I am a huge fan of Giant, Foreigner, Survivor, Starship, Whitesnake, etc. and I wanted these influences to shine through as well as bringing my own sound and identity to the songs. Mike Palace had the exact same vision for the music and we have the exact same influences, so it was an immediate match made in heaven. Mike is a real genius and just a dream to work with. I also co-wrote with the great Alessandro Del Vecchio and Pete Alpenborg on two songs, with Mike on one song, and with my talented sister Tina on one song, which was really great fun. I am so very thankful and blessed to have had the chance to work with these talents," says Hilli.
As mentioned above, Kent wrote all the songs on the album himself, except for four songs which were co-written. One with Palace, two with Alessandro Del Vecchio and Pete Alpenborg, and one with Kent's sister Tina.
A diverse album with both rockers and ballads, The Rumble is going to be a true delight for melodic rock fans. It is also a very “relationship oriented” album, with lyrics that are coming from a place of personal experience
"The first single is about the joy, the expectations, the promises, the disappointments, and struggles in a relationship where one party is giving it a 100% and the other party is not. It is also about living in the here and now and enjoying life 'cause it will not last forever. Taking care of one another and enjoying and being thankful for what you have. Musically, it came together when I was jamming one day and found this great hook on the chorus and I immediately got the theme of the song. Mike Palace did a wonderful arrangement to the song after I had sent him the acoustic version of the song," Hilli says of first single "Don't Says It's Forever".
The album resounds with the inspiration and influences from Kent's idols like Giant, Foreigner, Survivor, Whitesnake, and Europe, to name a few. That musical style is built in Kent's DNA by now. The legendary voices of Lou Gramm, Jimi Jamison, Dann Huff, David Coverdale, Joe Lynn Turner, and Joey Tempest are Kent's true inspirations and have influenced his vocal style. But anyone following along knows that Kent is very much his own singer and one of the finest to emerge in the melodic rock scene in quite some time.
Needless to say, if you love any of the classic bands mentioned above and certainly if you are a fan of Kent's work in Perfect Plan, then this record is for you!

VEXED Release "Misery" Drum Playthrough VideoUK alt-metal upstarts, Vexed, will release their debut full-length, Culling Culture, on May 21 via Napalm Records. The band have released a drum playthrough video for their new single, "Misery", which can be seen below:
Watch a a guitar playthrough video for "Misery"
Facing very personal experiences, Culling Culture is a tribute to hate, betrayal and anger, whilst also reflecting post-modern society with strikingly honest songwriting and heavy groove. Moreover, for as confident as they are musically, Vexed is as poignant lyrically. The title of the album, Culling Culture, and portions of its contents deliver the band’s unfiltered response to the world’s latest social phenomena of public ostracism, “cancel culture”.
Unrelenting lead vocalist Megan Targett’s vicious vocal assault blending venomously low growls, soaring cleans and razor-sharp rap-like deliveries (see “Fake” and “Weaponise”) is backed by the pure technical proficiency of bandmates Willem Mason-Geraghty (drums), Jay Bacon (guitar) and Al Harper (bass). The warning instrumental “Ignorant” prefaces the record’s menacing atmosphere and provides a flawless basis for smashing wake up call “Hideous” and fiery, threatening tracks “Fake” and “Narcissist”. Ghostly “Aurora” and disrespectfully heavy album-closer “Lazarus” showcase Targett’s multi-faceted clean vocal delivery while clashing otherworldly auras with resonating, melodic rhythms. “Epiphany” blends both, offering a bold message of moving past self-loathing, while superciliously weighty offering “Weaponise” seethes between violent hatred and ambient darkness.
Pre-order Vexed’s debut album Culling Culture here.
Culling Culture will be available in the following formats:

EVANESCENCE's AMY LEE Wrote 'Bring Me To Life' About Her Current HusbandEVANESCENCE's Amy Lee spoke to Germany's Sonic Seducer about the lyrical inspiration for the group's breakthrough 2003 hit "Bring Me To Life". The song reached No. 5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and was EVANESCENCE's first U.K. No. 1 single.
"I remember what I wrote 'Bring Me To Life' about, because I wrote it about my current husband before we were married," she said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). "There was this moment — I was in a tough place and in a bad relationship. And my husband now, Josh, at the time was just a friend and a person that I barely knew; it was maybe the third or fourth time we'd ever met. And we went in to go grab a seat at a restaurant while our friends parked the car. And we sat across from each other, and he looked at me and he just said, 'So, are you happy?' And it took me so off guard, and I just felt like it pierced my heart, because I felt like I had been pretending really well, and it was, like, somebody could see through me. And then that whole first verse came out of it: 'How can you see into my eyes, like open doors.' It really made me feel and recognize the sense of yearning that I had to get to a better place. And it really kind of set me out on a journey. And it's amazing that that became the song, the first song that broke us on to the scene and made everyone hear of us, because it was about something — I don't know — something so personal that I was recognizing in my life."
This past March, Lee told Alternative Press that EVANESCENCE's original record label Wind Up threatened not to release the group's debut album, "Fallen", if she and her bandmates didn't add a male voice to lead single "Bring Me To Life" to make it more palatable for radio.
The album version of "Bring Me to Life" — which featured guest vocals from Paul McCoy of 12 STONES — was included on the soundtrack of superhero film "Daredevil".
"Fallen" sold 17 million copies and won two Grammys, including "Best Rock Performance" for "Bring Me To Life".
EVANESCENCE's latest album, "The Bitter Truth", arrived on March 26 via BMG. It is EVANESCENCE's first album of original music in ten years.

COREY TAYLOR Says LARS ULRICH Was 'So Right On So Many Levels' About NAPSTERDuring an appearance on the latest episode of the "Wild Ride! With Steve-O" podcast, SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor was asked if he has a preferred way that people can consume music from his various projects. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Obviously, I'm gonna say the old-school way — buy the album, look at the artwork, read the lyrics.
"It's kind of weird, it's kind of hard, because in this day and age, it's really hard to know which ones of the fucking streaming services actually compensate the artists that they're ripping off," he continued. "It's more important for me that people listen to the music. At this point, I've kind of made peace with the fact that there are various services who are just kind of screwing us, and until the legislation is actually enforced, which they passed under Trump — which I couldn't fucking believe — they'll keep charging us at that rate. But they've appealed that legislation. I don't think the appeals will actually go through. They will raise the rates, and musicians will be able to make a living off their recordings again."
Corey went on to praise METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich whose band's image took a tremendous beating in the eyes of music fans after METALLICA launched legal action against the pioneering music file-sharing service Napster in 2000.
"I remember everyone giving him so much shit 'cause of that, and he was so right on so many fucking levels, dude," Taylor said. "It's scary. And I wonder how many people look back and eat a little crow because of that… 'Cause he knew — he knew that this was the direction we were going."
METALLICA sued Napster after the band discovered that a leaked demo version of its song "I Disappear" was circulating on the pioneering music file-sharing service before it was released.
In May 2000, Ulrich famously delivered a literal truckload of paper to Napster Inc., listing hundreds of thousands of people who allegedly used the company's software to share unauthorized MP3s of METALLICA's songs.
METALLICA representatives compiled the more than 60,000-page list of 335,435 Napster user IDs over one weekend in response to Napster's promise to terminate the accounts of users who trade material without permission. Real names were not included in the list.
In later years, METALLICA embraced digital music: in December 2012, the band made all of its studio albums, as well as various live material, singles, remixes and collaborations, available on Spotify.

PERRY FARRELL Says He Is 'Inspired' By JOE BIDENIn a recent interview with "The Electric Theater With Clown", the Internet show hosted by SLIPKNOT's M. Shawn "Clown" Crahan, JANE'S ADDICTION singer Perry Farrell discussed his need to use his voice to speak out on political issues in a polarized society where a political stance can alienate half the fanbase.
"I've got friends," Perry said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). "We don't agree with each other. One's on one side of the political fence. I've got family. One's on one side of the political fence. And I love these people. But I can't agree with them. I've got people in my own religion. I love them. But they're on one side of the political fence. And for as wild as I wanna be — and I wanna be able to tell wild stories, like I did when I was in the early days of JANE'S ADDICTION, when I could have wild sex and be up for three days. I'll never forget those days; I love those days. But what I'm finding today is that what we need is we need strong men that have to tell it like it is. We need strong men. We need strong leaders.
"Joe Biden, I'm inspired by him," Farrell continued. "He's in his 80s, and he's willing to take on the world. [Editor's note: Joe Biden is actually 78.] Imagine — he's got all these knuckleheads in his way, trying to get in his way, trying to make COVID harder to heal. He's got a pandemic he walked right into. The man's in his 80s, and he's tough. And he says, 'I'll take it on.'
"So as much as I wanna talk about the 'wild thing' — I do; I really do. I hate talking about the bullshit, our countrymen turning on each other. We should be ashamed of ourselves."
Farrell is currently promoting "The Glitz; The Glamour", a 35-year retrospective of his life, music and art that looks into his world outside the works of JANE'S ADDICTION and PORNO FOR PYROS — focusing on 68 tracks worth of Perry's alt rock rarities and innovative artistic explorations. The retrospective is served up in the form of a vinyl and collectible box-set and is an art piece in its own right — in collaboration with fine artist Zoltar, this offering firmly puts Farrell's stake in the ground as the "godfather of alternative rock."
In addition to the deep groove vinyl recordings, the box-set includes a Blu-ray featuring 12 uncompressed Dolby Atmos mixes from "Kind Heaven" and three previously unreleased Atmos mixes, a photographic memoir hardcover book, a bandana, plus two exclusive Zoltar prints. "The Glitz; The Glamour" is out now via Last Man Music. Visit www.perryfarrell.com for more information.

AARON LEWIS Talks Progress Of New STAIND Studio Album, Upcoming Solo MusicAaron Lewis spoke to Billboard about the progress of the songwriting sessions for STAIND's first studio album since 2011's self-titled effort. "There are definitely some ideas that have been shared with me that I focused on for a little bit," he said. "We haven't really talked very much about producers and where and that type of stuff yet. We've all kind of got our thoughts and ideas, so we'll see."
Elswhere in the chat, Lewis confirmed that he is planning to release a new country solo album later this year. He is also working on a separate project that sound like "somewhere between PINK FLOYD 'Dark Side Of The Moon' and Billie Eilish — very dreamscape-y, very ethereal. The musical landscape is quite simple and sparse; there's a lot of stuff going on without much stuff going on," he said. "It'll be much more focused around melody."
Last month, Lewis told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that he "would certainly love to" have the new STAIND album "recorded and done by the end of this year, to be released next year. All of our plans that were kind of semi on the books and on the table, everything just had a year taken off of it [due to the pandemic]," he said. "We were gonna have a record come out sometime in 2020 or certainly in 2021, and there was a schedule that was on the table that, just like everything else, got burned to the ground as soon as [the lockdown] started."
STAIND has released seven albums since 1995, the latest being the aforementioned "Staind". The band has had a number of hit songs during its first two decades, including the Top 10 smash "It's Been Awhile" from the No. 1 album "Break The Cycle". Follow-up LPs "14 Shades Of Grey" and "Chapter V" also topped the Billboard chart.
In 2019, Lewis said that new STAIND material would likely sound "pretty brutal. It would be continuing back to how heavy we were to begin with, when 'It's Been Awhile' and 'Outside' and 'So Far Away' and songs like that, that were radio songs, confused everything. 'Cause if you came and saw us at a show, the show was a hell of a lot heavier than most of the songs that you would hear on the radio. And I would have to say that it would be going back in the direction of just heavy… I think I've got some pent-up stuff that would probably flow out quite nicely over some of Mike's [Mushok] heavy riffs."
STAIND will release its first album in nine years, "Live: It's Been Awhile", on May 7 via Yap'em/Alchemy Recordings. The "Live: It's Been Awhile" album will be accompanied by "The Return Of Staind", a two-part global streaming series in partnership with Danny Wimmer Presents. The series launches with STAIND's "Live: It's Been Awhile (From Foxwoods)" concert, which streams globally on May 1. The "Live: It's Been Awhile" album and concert were recorded at the band's comeback show at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut in October 2019. The never-before-seen concert celebrates the band's reunion after a five-year hiatus.
STAIND will also perform its iconic multi-platinum 2001 album "Break The Cycle" in its entirety for a May 8 streaming event, exactly 20 years after the album's release. The "20th Anniversary Of Break The Cycle, Performed In Its Entirety" takes place at Mill 1 in Open Square in Holyoke, Massachusetts, bringing the band back to their Western Mass roots. Please note, this is a fully virtual event, with no in-person attendance.
Both global streaming events debut at 2:00 p.m. PDT / 5:00 p.m. EDT / 10:00 p.m. BST / 11:00 p.m. CEST on their respective days and will be available on-demand for 72 hours.
Purchase tickets for one or both of the STAIND global streaming events at StaindLive.com. Fans can also purchase bundles and VIP experiences, including exclusive merchandise, a custom STAIND guitar autographed by the entire band, and a virtual meet-and-greet with the band.
STAIND played its first full live show in five years in September 2019 at the Louder Than Life music festival in Louisville, Kentucky.
The band was scheduled to support DISTURBED on "The Sickness 20th Anniversary Tour" throughout North America last summer. The amphitheater trek has since been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic which is sweeping the gl

TED NUGENT: How I 'Knocked The S**t Out' Of COVID-19Ted Nugent has opened up about his battle with COVID-19, saying that he "took intelligent, professionally guided care" in order to beat the novel coronavirus.
Less than a month after publicly revealing that he had tested positive for COVID-19, the outspoken conservative rocker discussed his experience during a YouTube livestream with his wife Shemane on Sunday (May 9).
Asked by Shemane what he does to stay healthy, Ted said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I eat smart — I eat in smart proportions — and I eat wild game and I eat organic vegetables by the bucketful. I have good natural juice that Shemane makes for me. We take the Isagenix, a type of vitamins. And, of course, since the Wuhan virus assault took place way back in 2019, we have pounded the zinc… All my life, I've taken the B12, vitamin D — D fortifies your immune system — a solid C, and now I'm taking the elderberry, and I take zinc every day. And I was on the hydroxychloroquine and the ivermectin and the steroids, along with those good vitamins, and I knocked the shit out of this Chinese virus after about a week. Some of my buddies, many of whom got the vaccine and still got the Chinese virus. They wore masks, and they still got the Chinese virus. They social distanced and they still got the Chinese virus. So, c'mon! Who believes the CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] or [U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Anthony] Fauci?"
He added, "Anyhow, so we took intelligent, professionally guided care from the 'Frontline Doctors'," referring to a group of doctors who made a video last July calling for the use of hydroxychloroquine to battle the novel coronavirus, despite warnings from public health experts.
In the above-mentioned video, a group of people wearing white lab coats calling themselves "America's Frontline Doctors" staged a press conference in front of the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. and made a number of dubious claims, including that "you don't need masks" to prevent spread of the coronavirus, and that studies showing hydroxychloroquine is ineffective for the treatment of COVID-19 are "fake science" sponsored by "fake pharma companies." According to Politifact, many of the doctors' claims contradicted recommendations from public health organizations and experts like Dr. Anthony Fauci. The video quickly went viral on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube before it was taken down for promoting misinformation.
Hydroxychloroquine is the malaria drug pushed by then-president Donald Trump that proved ineffective against COVID-19. In April 2020, the Food and Drug Administration issued a safety warning, saying the drugs could cause heart-rhythm problems and warning they should be used only in the hospital setting or in clinical trials.
Ivermectin, an antiparasitic drug used to treat several neglected tropical diseases in humans is also used in veterinary medicine. According to The Washington Post, the Food and Drug Administration said at least three people were hospitalized in February after taking the veterinary formulation. It warned that high doses can cause allergic reactions, seizures, liver injury and even death.
Last month, Nugent talked about the darkest days of his battle with COVID-19, saying that he had "never been so scared" in his entire life. The 72-year-old pro-gun activist, who had previously the virus was "not a real pandemic," said: "It was really scary. I didn't think I was gonna make it. I literally couldn't function for about 20 hours, and then they came and they rescued me… The six-foot-two, 225-pound headache [this time] was like nothing I have ever experienced. I mean, from my tip of my toes to the top of my hair, I literally was dizzy and weak and struggled to get up to go to the bathroom. And I would lay in the bathtub a couple of times a day with the water as hot as I could take it just to divert."
Despite his COVID-19 diagnosis, Nugent reiterated his previous stance that he wouldn't be getting the vaccine and he mocked people who wear face masks, despite that both the CDC and World Health Organization have urged their universal use.
In the past, Nugent, a staunch Trump supporter, had referred to the virus as a "leftist scam to destroy" America's 45th president. He had also repeated a narrative pushed by conservative media and disputed by health experts that suggests the official death count from the coronavirus is inflated.

ALL THAT REMAINS' PHIL LABONTE Says He Is 'Pro-Mask' But Against Mask MandatesALL THAT REMAINS singer Phil Labonte says that he is in favor of U.S. states phasing out mask mandates as a result of the coronavirus pandemic in favor of voluntary actions.
Even though some states have lifted mask mandates, you can still face charges if you refuse to wear a mask at a store, restaurant or business that requires one.
Businesses have the right and authority to demand that customers wear masks on their property. Failing to abide by a business's mask requirement could result in criminal trespass charges.
Labonte shared his views on mask mandates during an appearance on a recent episode of "Fite 4 Liberty" YouTube show. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "There's never been a time in any of our lifetimes where it was, like, 'Hey, you should stay home for the next blah blah blah.' And considering the fact that at least New Hamspshire where I was… I only moved to Texas in the beginning of February [of this year]. I lived in New Hampshire for a decade before that, and I've still got my house up there, so I technically still live in New Hampshire; I just have an apartment in Texas that I've been staying in… But anyways, I didn't have a problem with it because the feds didn't start saying, 'Hey… We're gonna do this.' Any time people were talking about mandatory lockdowns, I'm, like, 'Look, you can't lock down.' I'm, like, I'm pro-mask. If you wanna wear a mask, wear a mask. Cool. I'll wear my mask, because I know that people are freaked out, and it's not a big deal to me. And I was like that from day one. I was, like, no big deal. In fact, I bought a mask in January of last year, because I watch Styxhexenhammer666 [a YouTuber, occultist, author, editor and political commentator]. But he was the first guy that was talking about it. And he was talking about it at the very end of December [2019], beginning of January [2020]. And I was, like, 'This might be a thing. And I see a lot of people in Japan wearing masks when they're sick. Maybe I should get some kind of mask.' So I had one delivered to my house before February."
He continued: "So I had no problem with the masks and stuff like that. But the entire time, I was, like, 'Look, don't mandate. Don't make mandates.' Because as soon as you make mandates, then you have to involve the cops. And that's what I don't want — I don't want the cops to come because someone's not wearing a mask. That's too far for me. If a store says, 'We want masks,' cool. I'll wear the mask. That's totally fine. It's your property. I'll wear the mask.
"To me, a mask is just like 'No Shirts, No Shoes, No Service,'" he explained. "If you wanna say, 'Put your shoes on to come into our store'? Totally fine. You wanna say, 'Wear a mask to come into our store'? Totally fine. You wanna say, 'You can't come in here with your nipples out there, mister'? Then that's totally fine too; put a shirt on. I'm okay with that stuff. Don't call the cops. Don't have the cops come and beat people up or take people into custody or threaten people because they're not wearing a mask. And that's invariably [what's] gonna happen at least some [of the time] as soon as you add mandates, and you have to enforce 'em."
In the past, Labonte has described himself as "a libertarian" who believes that "the government is massively expansive and has taken powers that it does not have." He told Noisecreep in a 2012 interview: "[The government] should not be in the business of deciding who you should or should not be able to marry. It should not be in the business of deciding what drugs you can and cannot take and what you can put in your body. It should not It should not be in the business of taking your money in the form of taxation. It should not be in the business of deciding if you should carry a gun. We don't need all these federal agencies that we have. They're a waste of money. They end up being bureaucracies. The government never ends up getting smaller. It only gets bigger. Once a federal agency is created, it never goes away. They don't need to spend as much as they do. We don't need to be in 130 different countries across the world. We don't need a military as big as we have."
Last August, Labonte confirmed to the FM99 WNOR radio station that ALL THAT REMAINS had commenced the songwriting process for the follow-up to 2018's "Victim Of The New Disease" album.
"Victim Of The New Disease" was released in via Fearless in North America and Eleven Seven in Europe.

TOMMY SHAW On Hypothetical STYX Induction Into ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME: 'I'm Kind Of Numb To It Now'In a recent interview with Meltdown of the Detroit radio station WRIF, STYX guitarist/vocalist Tommy Shaw was asked how he feels about the band's hypothetical induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. "I'm kind of numb to it now," he said. "And I've been to some of them before. It was nice to see a bunch of people that I know.
"You know what it's good for? When you go out later and they say, 'members of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.' That's what's great about it," he continued. "But the idea of going there and going through that process, I'm not really looking forward to that. I'd love to be in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and I'd go do it, but that part, it just doesn't appeal to me. It's one of those things where you sit in judgment there, and our fans have voted with their feet and with their wallets time after time. So it's the fans that I respect more than a bunch of guys [going], 'Thumbs up, thumbs down,' year after year.
"I just don't understand their standards," he added. "They'll have some songs that aren't a rock and roll song — one guy had one song, and they put them in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. And I'm not bitter about it. But it's just frustrating to be held up to those kinds of standards when all we really care about is our fans."
Still, if he does one day get the call that STYX is being inducted into the Rock Hall, "I'll be honored, I'll go [and] I'll do it," he said. "But I kind of stopped paying attention to whether we qualify for being in there."
Earlier in the year, STYX guitarist James "J.Y." Young told the Arizona Republic that original frontman Dennis DeYoung "deserves" to be in the Rock Hall along with the rest of the band if they eventually get inducted. But he ruled out a possible reunion with the singer, saying: "Highly unlikely. The man sued us in federal court over the use of the name. We settled out of court. So we control the name and he can use it in limited ways, which are very strictly outlined.
"Dennis hates being away from home," Young explained. "I don't need to be next to unhappiness. We have a joyful thing now and I have no economic incentive to do it. It would be throwing the Joker back into the deck to bring him in. And I'm not interested in that.
"A lot of times great works of art come from tortured souls or tortured situations," he added. "And being in STYX was a tortured situation. It really was. A lot of us were very unhappy. In all the success we had, there was no joy. And now there's nothing but joy. From what I've read, a lot of these great works of literature were made by tortured souls. And Dennis is kind of a tortured genius."
In addition to Shaw and Young, STYX's current lineup features Todd Sucherman (drums), Ricky Phillips (bass) and Lawrence Gowan (vocals, keyboards), along with the occasional surprise appearance by original bassist Chuck Panozzo.
Even though artists are eligible for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 25 years after the release of their first album or single, iconic hard rock and metal groups like IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST and MOTÖRHEAD have yet to be recognized by the institution, which inducted GUNS N' ROSES in that band's first year of eligibility.

PANTERA And HELLYEAH Drummer VINNIE PAUL Honored With Commemorative Signature Snareddrum recently announced the release of the Vinnie Paul Limited Edition Commemorative Snare Drum. This snare is limited to 250 drums worldwide and is available now at authorized ddrum dealers. The custom dragon wrap on the 8x14 maple shell was conceived by legendary PANTERA, HELLYEAH and DAMAGEPLAN drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, and based on the hat he loved and wore religiously.
The Vinnie Paul snare is a flashback to the original ddrum signature model built for Vinnie when he joined the company. The limited-edition commemorative snare drum features an eight-ply North American maple shell with 45-degree inner and 30-degree outer bearing edges with slight round-over. In addition, the drum features chrome hardware, a premium snare throw-off, 10 double-sided ddrum turret lugs, and die-cast hoops for increased tuning stability, and overall rim shot clarity and volume.
"I've spent years working on these snares for Vinnie," said Abbott's longtime drum tech Patrick King (a.k.a. "PKING"). "This snare resonates on so many levels with me. It rings in my ears (literally and figuratively) and through my core. This snare is not just a snare. It's an extension of Vince. His sound. His heart. His legacy."
The ddrum Vinnie Paul Limited Edition Commemorative Snare Drum includes a special synthetic leather bag and sells for $499.00 at authorized ddrum dealers while supplies last.
For more information and to see the rest of the ddrum product line, go to www.ddrum.com.
Vinnie passed away on June 22, 2018 at his home in Las Vegas at the age of 54. He died of dilated cardiomyopathy, an enlarged heart, as well as severe coronary artery disease. His death was the result of chronic weakening of the heart muscle — basically meaning his heart couldn't pump blood as well as a healthy heart.
A public memorial for Vinnie Paul was held on July 1, 2018 at Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas.
Not long before his death, Vinnie laid down the drum tracks for HELLYEAH's sixth album, "Welcome Home", which was released in September 2019.

Here's The First Look At HULU's 'Pam And Tommy' Based On TOMMY LEE And PAMELA ANDERSON's ScandalHulu has released a first look at Sebastian Stan and Lily James as MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee and "Baywatch" star Pamela Anderson in the limited series "Pam And Tommy" about their infamous leaked sex tape. Seth Rogen will also appear in the series as the man who stole the tape, and will produce with his partner Evan Goldberg. The series also stars Nick Offerman, Taylor Schilling, Andrew Dice Clay, Pepi Sonuga, Spencer Granese and Mozhan Marnò.
The eight-episode series will focus on series the duo's salacious relationship in the 1990s, including the leak of the private honeymoon video and the legal battle that ensued.
Lee and Anderson are reportedly not involved with the series, which is written by Robert Siegel and DV DeVincentis and produced by Annapurna.
Anderson and Lee got married on a beach in Mexico in 1995 after dating for just four days. The couple, who divorced in 1998, share two sons, Brandon, 24, and Dylan, 22.
The sex tape Lee made with Anderson during their 1998 honeymoon ended up finding its way online after being stolen from their home by an electrician. Pamela later sued the distribution company, but ended up settling, and the tape continued to be available online as a result. The tape reportedly made $77 million in less than 12 months.
"I've never seen it," Anderson said on "Watch What Happens Live" in 2015. "I made not one dollar. It was stolen property. We made a deal to stop all the shenanigans. I was seven months pregnant with Dylan and thinking it was affecting the pregnancy with the stress and said, 'I'm not going to court anymore. I'm not being deposed anymore by these horny, weird lawyer men. I don't want to talk about my vagina anymore or my public sex — anything."
Here’s a peek at Pam & Tommy, coming to @Hulu. Based on the true scandal that started it all, featuring Lily James, Sebastian Stan and @SethRogen… ready to rewind? #PamAndTommy pic.twitter.com/4ctdKYEm9F

CHTHONIC Mark Return To Stage With CHTHONIC Megaport 2021; "Set Fire To The Island" Video PostedFans who missed symphonic extreme metal masters Chthonic’s triumphant return to the stage to headline Taiwan’s massive Megaport Festival in March will have the opportunity to experience the show with the release of the Chthonic Megaport 2021 live album and video on May 19.
Chthonic Megaport 2021 will be available digitally and as a special limited “anti-epidemic bundle” including a physical CD, Chthonic medical-quality mask, a Chthonic mask lanyard, large and small Chthonic mask containers and a small Chthonic spray can for sanitizer will be available. Pre-orders are available here.
For a special preview, watch “Set Fire To The Island” below.
After making history by successfully managing the COVID-19 pandemic, Taiwan was able to move forward with the Megaport Festival, the first large-scale rock festival since the unprecedented global lockdown. Taking place March 27-28 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, the festival featured more than 100 artists on 10 stages. Founded in 2006 by Chthonic’s Freddy Lim, who left the organizing team after being elected as a member of Taiwanese Parliament in 2016, Megaport Festival attracts tens of thousands of people every year, with this year’s festival selling out its 20,000 tickets within five minutes. For their performance, Chthonic was joined by Audrey Tang, a longtime Chthonic fan who currently holds the seat of Digital Minister in Taiwan's cabinet.
“I felt very excited and grateful when I stood on the stage,” Lim says. “I cherished the connection between the crowd and me, and I also wanted to cheer up the people around the world who watched the show through the live broadcast so much.”
Lim also used the Megaport appearance as an excuse to reclaim his once-fit body, which he shows off on the album’s cover and in the “Set Fire to the Island” video. “I have always been fit in the past,” he says. “But after entering politics and having a baby, I didn't have enough time to exercise, so I was a little out of shape. Last year I promised the fans that if the Megaport Festival was held as scheduled, I will get my fit body back and take off my shirt in this show. So, I take off my shirt later in the song! Good to have my fit body back!”

MEMORIA AVENUE Sign To Frontiers Music Srl; Debut Album In The WorksFrontiers Music Srl announces the signing of Memoria Avenue to the label. Memoria Avenue is a new melodic rock/AOR band from Norway showcasing an artistic union between guitarist Tor Talle and the awesome new singer Jan Le’ Brandt. Their debut album is currently in the works.
"I'm so proud to be part of the Frontiers family and it's an honor to work with such wonderful and talented people," says Tor Talle.
Tor is a skilled guitarist, best known for his AOR project, Northern Light. He has also worked, either writing songs and/or performing with, on records from melodic rock giants such as Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Deep Purple), Fergie Frederiksen (ex-Toto), Rob Moratti (ex-Saga), Steve Overland (FM), and the late Tony Mills (TNT, Shy).
Jan Le’ Brandt has roots in the magnificent north of Norway, but moved to the southern part in his early teens. His voice is sometimes hoarse and rough, but also moves into a more delicate and sensitive style. Jan masters the whole spectrum to the fullest, with his soulful presence both on stage and in the studio. He has already previously released some material as a solo artist and appeared in the cover band Svigermord, and formerly sang for Big City (Frontiers Music Srl), but Memoria Avenue is his chance to truly shine.
Memoria Avenue is yet another absolutely stunning newcomer to the AOR scene brought to you by Frontiers Music Srl. With a sound and style that will particularly appeal to fans of stylish, '80s oriented melodic rock bands, think Journey and newer bands like Perfect Plan and Work of Art , with a hint of that breezy, feel good sound which is not as easy to find these days. Listening to these songs will transport you to the feeling of driving by the sea with the windows rolled down without a care in the world. Certainly not a bad feeling in this day and age...
Lineup:
Jan Le’Brandt: Lead vocal and Backing Vocals
Tor Talle: Guitars, Keyboard and Bass
Dag Selboskar: Keyboards
Svenn Huneide: Bass
Bjørn Olav Lauvdal: Drums
Additional Musicians:
Mick Devine: Backing and Harmony Vocals

AXEL RUDI PELL To Release New Covers Album, Diamonds Unlocked II, In July; Includes Tracks Originally Performed By RAINBOW, SAMMY HAGAR, GEORDIE, And MoreGerman hard rock guitar wizard, Axel Rudi Pell, has finished recording and mixing his latest album, Diamonds Unlocked II, set for release on July 30 via Steamhammer/SPV. The successor to last year’s top 5 album Sign Of The Times is the follow-up to his 2007 cover recording Diamonds Unlocked. Pell’s carefully considered decision not to release brand-new material for the first time in almost 15 years is mainly based on the ongoing pandemic and current restrictions on live concerts. The 61-year-old explains that, “it makes no sense at all to put out new songs that we will not be able to perform live.”
Axel Rudi Pell had been flirting with the concept of Diamonds Unlocked II for two or three years, and he’s also aware of the vast number of cover versions currently floating on the Internet, which he sees as a challenge. Of course it depends on the selection and variety of the material, but first and foremost it is the transformation of each individual track that matters. The result is so outstanding that he is justly proud of his latest offering. “Without patting myself on the back too loudly – this is an album worth listening to from start to finish.” Instead of delivering every single note so that it sounds exactly like the original, a cover album should, above all, be fun. And entertain and inspire the listener, an audio algorithm which makes you get out the original versions or the whole back catalogue of the artists presented. In this respect, “Diamonds Unlocked II” is an offer that no self-respecting hard rock fan can refuse.
Diamonds Unlocked II will be released in the following configurations:
- DigiPak incl. poster
- 2LP Gatefold, 140 g, black vinyl, printed inner sleeves
- Download / Streaming

NEONFLY Release "Beating Hearts" Lyric VideoJune 18 will see UK metallers, Neonfly, release their new album The Future, Tonight, via Germany's up and coming metal institution, Noble Demon.
Neonfly, formed in 2008 as the brainchild of guitarist and composer Frederick Thunder, took the heavy music scene by storm, releasing two highly acclaimed full-length records and an unforgettable debut EP to date. The four-piece have played countless tours with acts such as Sonata Arctica, Dragonforce, Epica and Alice Cooper to name just a few, and appeared at a raft of prestigious festivals notably Download, Bloodstock and Masters Of Rock.
On their upcoming third album, Neonfly shows no signs of slowing down: The Future, Tonight not only features 10 modern rock anthems, heavy yet catchy allied with hard-hitting riffs, big metal grooves and decidedly socially conscious lyrics, but also signposts a new musical direction and a new creative era for the band, as guitarist Frederick Thunder states: "We’ve evolved a lot since our last album, and it was extremely important for us to move forward both musically and artistically, and to create something unique and contemporary that would define Neonfly’s sound and stand out from everything else out there."
Today, coming in the wake of the release of the album’s epic title track, the four-piece unleash a lyric video for new single "Beating Hearts". The track demonstrates the musical variety of the new album with a gospel-tinged, rock orientated anthem & hook laden chorus. It’s “a song about not being afraid of being yourself, and not having to justify yourself for being different” as guitarist Frederick Thunder states. "It’s a song about following your heart and accepting your choices, regardless of what certain religious groups, social conventions or other people might dictate. It’s a song about passion, that celebrates alternative culture in all its manifestations: music, art, lifestyle, community… and it’s a song about overcoming any personal doubts you might have, and finding harmony within yourself."
The Future, Tonight was produced by Grammy award nominated producer Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Motörhead), with keyboards and orchestra arranged by Miro Rodenberg (Avantasia, Kamelot).
The Future, Tonight is available for pre-order here. Pre-save the new single to the library of your preferred streaming service or add it to your favorite playlist here.

Nando Fernandes says, "Singing with the incredible Renan Zonta was a great honor for me, as I believe he is one of the best vocalists in Brazil today. The difference in timbres, our interpretations, always loaded with a lot of emotion, the incredible melodies, the very well harmonized choirs, make this album another beautiful and striking record for the history of Brazilian and worldwide hard rock and metal!"
Renan Zonta says, "Being involved in this project and getting to sing metal is beyond amazing. Ale is a multi-talented beast, great songwriter, wonderful producer, and one of the biggest hearts I've ever met. Besides that, sharing vocals with the one and only Nando Fernandes is an honor. The man is a Brazilian living legend and his kindness shows why it is not only because of his groundbreaking voice that people love him. Brother Against Brother goes beyond a heavy metal project. It's a soulful heavy emotional part of my career that I will cherish forever."
"Representing Brazil on a record company as important as Frontiers, for me it is a source of great pride, as we are talking about one of the best in the world, and to be alongside true legends in the world rock is truly a dream come true. May this be the first of many others," adds Fernandes.
Conceived by Serafino Perugino, President and A&R director of Frontiers Music Srl, Brother Against Brother is meant to showcase these two amazing vocalists to a larger global audience outside of their homeland of Brazil. Nando Fernandes is one of the most established, popular rock/metal singers in Brazil and he is paired here with one of the hottest vocal talents of the new wave of hard rock bands from the Frontiers label, Renan Zonta of Electric Mob. Together, they are on fire on this magnificent melodic metal album written for them by none other than Alessandro Del Vecchio (Jorn, Revolution Saints, Edge Of Forever).
While Brazil is quite obviously rich in musical talent in the rock and metal world, these two singers are some of the best on the planet and are ready for the world stage. Get ready for one of the most exciting releases of the year in the self-titled debut from Brother Against Brother! Fans of rich, powerful melodic metal and powerful rock and metal vocals will want to have this on their 'must hear' list for 2021.

ANTHRAX Release "ANTHRAX 40" Episode #5: Spreading The Disease; VideoOne of The Big Four turns the Big 4-0 this year and is celebrating with a number of special activities and events to honor the landmark anniversary. Formed by guitarist Scott Ian and bassist Dan Lilker in Queens, NY on July 18, 1981, Anthrax was one of the first thrash metal bands to emerge from the East Coast and quickly became regarded as a leader in the genre alongside Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth.
Active over the past five decades, Anthrax has released 11 studio albums, been awarded multiple Gold and Platinum certifications, received six Grammy nominations, toured the world since 1984 playing thousands of shows, including headlining Madison Square Garden and playing Yankee Stadium with The Big 4. The band has built a strong reputation with fans as well as the record industry. With the lineup including Ian, bassist Frank Bello, drummer Charlie Benante, singer Joey Belladonna, and guitarist Jon Donais, the band is being feted on their 40th anniversary by a wide range of friends and music contemporaries.
Each week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and wrapping on the band's official founding anniversary of July 18, Anthrax's social media accounts will offer a series of video testimonials sent in by former band members, fellow musicians, colleagues, and industry veterans sharing behind-the-scenes stories of working with the band and what Anthrax's legacy has meant all these years on. These videos will honor each album in chronological order beginning with the original release, Fistful of Metal. Go here for the full schedule, and watch the first five below.
The 11-week series will include video contributions from Chuck D, Corey Taylor, Dave Grohl, Dave Mustaine, Gary Holt, Gene Simmons, Henry Rollins, John Carpenter, Kerry King, Mike Patton, Nergal, Norman Reedus, Michael Poulsen, Rob Zombie, Robert Trujillo, Roger Miret, Darryl McDaniels (Run DMC), Slash, Tom Morello and more. There will also be video clips from former Anthrax band members Dan Lilker, Dan Spitz, John Bush, Neil Turbin, and Rob Caggiano.

Episode #5:
Twenty-twenty-one marks Anthrax's 40th anniversary, during which time the band has released 11 studio albums, been awarded multiple Gold and Platinum certifications, six Grammy nominations, and a host of other accolades from the media, the music industry, and fans. In 1991, the band helped break down race and genre barriers when they collaborated with Public Enemy on the track "Bring The Noise," and was the first metal band to have its music heard on Mars when NASA played "Got The Time" to wake up the Mars Rover in 2012.
Along with Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth, Anthrax is a card-carrying member of The Big Four, the four bands that defined the speed/thrash/metal genre. Anthrax has also introduced a series now sold-out signature whiskeys and bourbons and partnered with the Stockholm-based NEZUMI Studios for a high-end, limited-edition Baleine dive watch.
Twenty-twenty-one will see the release of Z2 Comics' "Among The Living" graphic novel with a track-by-track storyline inspired by Anthrax's iconic 1987 album, Among The Living. The book pulls together a "who's who" of names from the worlds of comics and music who created "bubble dialogue" and original artwork to express what the songs meant to them. Taking advantage of COVID-19's prohibition of concert touring, the band has been hard at work writing the next Anthrax album.

Nightwish keyboardist / founder Tuomas Holopainen was recently a guest on the Breaking Absolutes podcast, hosted by Peter Orullian, and during the chat he discussed the band's upcoming livestream show. He also revealed the replacement for bassist Marco Hietala, who left the band in January, will be revealed only a few hours before they play.
Following is Hietala's original statement regarding his departure.
Hietala: "Dear people. I am leaving Nightwish and my public life.
For a quite a few years now I haven’t been able to feel validated by this life. We have streaming company big guns demanding 9/5 work from artists of inspiration while unfairly sharing the profits. Even among the artists. We’re the banana republic of the music industry. Biggest tour promoters squeeze percentages even from our own merchandise while paying dividends to Middle East. Apparently some theocrasies can take the money from the music that would get you beheaded or jailed there without appearing as hypocrites. Just a couple of examples here.
This past year forced me to stay home and think. And I found myself very disillusioned about these and a lot of things. I found out that I am in need of that validation. For me to write, sing and play, I need to find some new reasons and inspirations. 'My Walden' so to speak. And it’s even in my book that I’m a chronic depressive. It’s dangerous for me and the people around me, if I continue. Some of the thoughts a while back were dark. Don’t worry, I’m fine. I have my two sons, a wife, the rest of the family, friends, a dog and lots of love.
And I don’t think that I’ll be gone for good.
Conspiracy is the word of the day. For the people who like them I need to say that my 55th birthday is now on 14th of Jan and I’ve certainly done my time for now. Blaming for instance Tuomas is an insult to both him and my free thinking. This is a very sad thing to all of us too. Have a care please. But of course now we’ll know, if some go there on purpose.
There are a couple of things agreed on that I will do on 2021. Otherwise I kindly and with respect ask the media, bands, artists projects etc. to not ask me for anything within the next year. I have some reinventing to do. I hope to tell you about it on 2022. It’s not a promise though.
I am so sorry about this.
Marko Hietala
P.S.: Tony Iommi is an exception to the 'no contact whatsoever.' Childhood hero takes a precedence."
Nightwish issued the following statement in the wake of Hietala's announcement:
"Marko's resignation has left us with some difficult decisions and choices to be made. After much thought and consideration, we have, in mutual understanding, decided to perform the upcoming 'Human. :II: Nature. world tour as planned, but with a session bass player. The live line-up will be announced at a later date.
We respect Marko's decision and wish him all the very best. We will not comment any further."

THE VINTAGE CARAVAN Premier "Sharp Teeth" Music VideoFrom the bottom of our hearts we'd like to thank everyone for the amazing response to our new album Monuments. We are humbled and can't wait to present the songs to you live sooner rather than later. Looking forward to going back on tour next year on our own European headline tour in February and March and the one we have planned with our pals in Opeth in the fall of 2022!" - The Vintage Caravan
The Vintage Caravan released their new album, Monuments, back on April 16 via Napalm Records. As a thank you and to shorten the time until they can play on big, international stages again, the band has come up with a surprise gift for their fans, presenting a high-voltage studio performance video for their track “Sharp Teeth”, cut from their new album. With this track and the accompanying video, the band once again prove that they are not only full of pure talent, but also reach the absolute top in terms of technical expertise.
The Vintage Caravan adds: "‘Sharp Teeth’ is probably the heaviest song on Monuments and hits you flat in the face right from the beginning. It's an unusual one with heavy riffs, funk influences and all out epic harmonies. Accompanied by a video shot in Hljóðriti studios, we hope you enjoy!"
On 11 diverse tracks, these fast-rising musicians from Reykjavik truly cast a spell on fans of bewitching, guitar-driven classic and blues rock influences. The album opener, “Whispers”, clearly showcases the band’s musical progression without sacrificing their tried-and-true, retro-inspired sonic trademark. “Crystalized '' convinces with light blues influences, encircling the listener in enchanting guitar lines and quickly rising to the full extent of its power while evoking anecdotes of retro nostalgia. “Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind” takes its listener on a blistering ride through pounding drums, intense guitar solos and an undeniably catchy chorus, while tracks like “This One’s For You” represent a stunning blueprint in The Vintage Caravan’s musical universe with unconventional, surprisingly calm melodies and Óskar’s gripping, tranquil vocal power. In contrast, bold drumming merges with fast-paced riffs, enveloping an impressive galloping vortex and pronouncing tracks like “Dark Times” and “Said and Done” as top notch rock pieces. The softly plugging, atmospheric sound of album closer “Clarity” symbolizes the crowning culmination of a 60-minute journey through the eternal landscapes of Iceland and the poetic lyricism of the trio.
With their new studio-album, Monuments, and its captivating, stellar arrangements, these rising stars definitely know how to put their very own stamp on the retro rock wave.

SCAR OF THE SUN Drops "Quantum Leap Zero II: Transition To Turbulence" Music VideoGreek modern metal five-piece, Scar Of The Sun, will release of their third full-length, Inertia, on May 14 via Napalm Records. After releasing the first powerful harbinger, “I Am The Circle”, followed by exciting title anthem, “Inertia”, the unit now sets free “Quantum Leap Zero II: Transition To Turbulence”, along with an captivating live video that was recorded when Scar Of The Sun supported the mighty Rotting Christ in Athens on the last show before the pandemic hit with undeterrable force.
The song marks the second instalment in the album’s “Quantum Leap Zero”-trilogy and wanders between harsh elements and intense, almost calm moments, giving way to singer Terry Nikas’ hard-hitting lyrics and showcases Scar Of The Sun’s multifaceted nature, stirring up the anticipation for Inertia even more.
Scar Of The Sun’s Terry Nikas adds: “The third video of Inertia, second installment of the ‘Quantum Leap Zero’ trilogy, ‘Transition To Turbulence’ is the most indicative song of the album in my eyes! This was filmed at our last show before COVID hit, a magnificent sold out show as direct support to the legendary Rotting Christ in front of 2,700 people in Athens, Greece. This is probably my favorite song on Inertia and definitely the one that I am most looking forward to playing live again when the time comes!”
On Inertia, Scar Of The Sun utilizes scientific terminology to transmit their impassioned messages of difficult trials and social awareness lyrically, conveying an overarching theme that reflects one of society’s heaviest burdens – that financial gain has flourished at the expense of humanity and the livelihoods of everyday people.
Terry Nikas about the album: “Third strike, this album is our punch to the world disarray! The most aggressive album we’ve done so far indicates our current intentions! The main concept of Inertia deals with how financial interests act against the lives of everyday normal people, no matter where you come from, since profit knows no ethics and nationalities. We become lab rats and we struggle in our everyday life while at the same time that extreme minority that runs the financial interests see people like numbers and value our lives like ants. These are matters that concern and annoy me and I had to get them out of my chest.”
Instrumental intro “Hydrogen” stirs things up before kicking in with hard-hitting title track “Inertia”, evoking a truly thunderous verse and, propelled by blasting drums, leads into an undeniably catchy chorus, while the “Quantum Leap Zero”-trilogy conveys very intense and dramatic events that occured in Greece in 2015: Suppression, rise/revolution and huge defeat in the end. Beginning with “Quantum Leap Zero I: Torque Control”, Scar Of The Sun unveils a whole new instrumental facet of the record, splicing their soundscapes with distinctively desolate vibes. “Quantum Leap Zero II: Transition To Turbulence”, on the other hand, calls for an untamed storm to annihilate everything, followed by atmospheric “Oxygen”, smashing “The Fallible Experiment” and poignant trilogy-closer “Quantum Leap Zero III: Thrust”. Inertia ends with “Anastasis” (Greek for “resurrection”), an intense track about the terrible pain of losing someone you love. With this closer, Scar Of The Sun manages to put agony into words and turn this palpable despair into emotive music.
Inertia was recorded and mixed by singer and songwriting mastermind Terry Nikas at Zero Gravity Studios in Athens, Greece and mastered by the legendary Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Dimmu Borgir) at Fascination Street Studios, Sweden.
Inertia will be available in the following formats:

Vincent — who was a member of KISS when the band publicly "unmasked" in 1983 — made several public appearances in 2018 after spending the past two decades out of the public eye.
In 1983, KISS wrote and released "Lick It Up" — their first album without makeup — a recording on which Vincent co-wrote eight of 10 songs, including the title track, which remains a staple of the group's live performances to this day.
Despite the album's success, Vincent was fired by KISS after the "Lick It Up" touring cycle came to an end, allegedly due to a dispute over both the terms of his employment contract with the band and royalties. From there, Vincent founded VINNIE VINCENT INVASION, which recorded two albums.
In 1992, Vincent re-teamed with Simmons and Stanley to write three songs for their acclaimed album "Revenge", including the record's first two singles, "Unholy" and "I Just Wanna". Their relationship quickly soured once again, however. Four years later, Vincent released a solo EP, "Euphoria", which featured vocals by former VVI singer Fleischman and included material from sessions recorded around 1990. Soon after that, Vincent vanished from the public eye and remained off the grid for more than two decades.
In November 2019, KISS manager Doc McGhee claimed that all former members of the group have been contacted about possibly taking part in the band's last-ever tour.
Prior to the "End Of The Road" launch, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons weren't very enthusiastic about the prospect of an onstage collaboration with Vinnie Vincent. "Now Vinnie, that's one exception, and for so many reasons," Stanley told Guitar World. "I would say that's not someone who I want to celebrate."
Simmons also chimed in, explaining that "it's worth stating that Vinnie has sued the band and lost 14 times. I'm not here to cast any aspersions. He's a talented guy. That's why he was in the band. But would I depend on him to get up onstage and do anything? Never. … Can he come to the shows? Of course! Anybody can. But onstage? Never."
In April 2018, Vincent joined Simmons at the KISS bassist/vocalist's "Vault" event in Nashville, Tennessee. He later said in an interview that he felt that got "a cold reception" and was "treated very indifferently" by Gene at the ev
