Indie Rock Musician PHOEBE BRIDGERS Claims MARILYN MANSON Told Her He Had A 'Rape Room': 'I Stopped Being A Fan'Indie rock musician Phoebe Bridgers says that Marilyn Manson once showed her what he called a "r*pe room" at his house.
The 26-year-old singer tweeted on Thursday (February 4) that she visited Manson's home several years ago and he told her about the disturbingly named room.
"I went to Marilyn Manson's house when I was a teenager with some friends. I was a big fan," she wrote. "He referred to a room in his house as the 'r*pe room', I thought it was just his horrible frat boy sense of humor. I stopped being a fan."
She also offered her support to the women who have made allegations about Manson, accusing him of abuse, sexual assault and coercion.
"I stand with everyone who came forward," she said.
In a separate tweet, Bridgers alleged that "the label knew, management knew, the band knew", although she didn't specify exactly what they were aware of. "Distancing themselves now, pretending to be shocked and horrified is f—ing pathetic," she added.
Phoebe's comments come three days after "Westworld" actress Evan Rachel Wood claimed in a social media post that Manson "groomed" and "horrifically" abused her for years. After she shared her accusations, at least four other women posted their own allegations against the singer. The women claimed to have endured "sexual assault, psychological abuse, and/or various forms of coercion, violence, and intimidation" at the hands of Manson.
Manson later released a statement denying the abuse allegations leveled against him, writing on Instagram: "Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality. My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how — and why — others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth."
In the days since Wood came forward with her allegations, Manson has been dropped by his label, Loma Vista Recordings, as well as the talent agency CAA, which provides representation for individuals across various mediums.

GENE SIMMONS Says Racist 'Hooligans' On Social Media Should Be FinedDuring an appearance earlier today (Tuesday, February 2) on "Good Morning Britain", KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons commented on presenter Piers Morgan's suggestion that "racist yobs and thugs" racially abusing people on social media be issued fines.
"I think your idea's spot-on," Gene said (see video below). "The only thing these hooligans understand is money, and to be punished. And just to get their wrists slapped, 'Oh, that's not a nice thing to do,' they don't care about that."
Simmons went on to say that racial discrimination is still alive and well in the post-Obama era.
"Things have changed, not just in America, but all over the world, but they haven't very much," he said. "I used to live with Diana Ross, a great lady, and she used to tell me about the SUPREMES touring the South. And they were even more popular than THE DAVE CLARK FIVE, and they'd go there and headline shows and everything. After the show, they couldn't stay in a hotel; they had to go to what's called the 'colored' hotel. And the next day, when they were driving out of town — they had a bus that everybody shared — people were shooting at them. Things haven't gone very far from then."
Morgan made his original comments in response to Manchester United soccer player Marcus Rashford being the victim of horrific online abuse in the wake of his team's 0-0 draw at Arsenal on Saturday night.
Simmons has been using his Twitter account in recent weeks primarily to share the latest political headlines and news about the ongoing pandemic.
Last month, he sparred with some of his social media followers over debunked claims that widespread election fraud denied President Donald Trump a victory in the November election.
'Let's try and be kinder to each other...I think your idea is spot on!'
Legendary Kiss frontman @genesimmons backs @piersmorgan and @susannareid100's calls for social media bullies, trolls and racists to be fined.

Ex-ILL NIÑO Vocalist CRISTIAN MACHADO Says He Has Seen 'A Very Known Act Directing Racism' At Another Known Band While On TourIn a new interview with Anne Erickson of Audio Ink Radio, former ILL NIÑO vocalist Cristian Machado was asked if ever felt racism in the metal music world from others in the industry or fans. He responded (see video below): "Me, personally, I was very blessed that I came up in the New York City music scene. The melting pot in New York City is massive. I mean, if you live in New York City and you aren't acquainted friends with people of other cultures, people of color, then you're probably secluded, not coming out of your house. But New York City is very, very vast with cultures. I was blessed in that aspect of having come up in a music scene that's very inclusive to Latinos and to blacks and to Asians even. The New York hardcore scene is full of Latinos and Asians and blacks. I mean, it's something that was very unique. And especially the post-hardcore scene in New York, which was founded on anti-Nazi sentiment, which was founded on neo-punk feelings of what things occurred in the past and not accepting those things and wanting change and things like that. So, for us, we were very lucky. Now, that's not to say that I didn't see racism occur. It wasn't directed at me. But I've seen racism occur in the metal and rock industry. It wasn't directed at me, but I've seen it occur at afar. Heard it. These people have thought that I wasn't listening perhaps sometimes. So, that's occurred.
"I've seen racism thrown directly at a very huge act that everybody knows about," he continued. "I'm not gonna say names because I don't know if they want it shared, but it was a very known act directing racism very directly and clearly — racist remarks — at another known act. This happened in Europe, in the U.K. at [the] Download [festival]. The one time that it happened, it was eye-opening. I couldn't believe what I had just heard. In that particular situation, the act that the racism was being directed at, the bandmember, I thought, did the smart thing, which was to ignore it and act like it never even occurred. And there was a lot of people there present, and a lot of people heard it. But this other band was extremely drunk and they were under the influence of something. Most of the acts there shrugged it off as, 'This person's just wasted, and he's probably saying something he doesn't wanna say.' Had the whole backstage wanted to, everybody could have jumped on him and completely beat the shit out of him, and that would have been that. But I think he was so wasted, everybody kind of shrugged it off.
"I've seen things like that occur — not directed at me, but maybe directed at somebody in the backstage," Cristian added. "I've heard it directed at somebody in the venue before, like off the stage, far away from where we were soundchecking. But I've never felt any kind of racism from the music industry, from people that work in the music industry. I've always felt very included — if anything, welcomed. And I'm very grateful for not having had experienced those kinds of things. I imagine maybe if a Latin metal band like we were had come up in the middle of Alabama or something like that, or Oklahoma, we probably would have experienced some direct racism — I would've. But New York City sheltered us from that a lot, and I'm really grateful for that.
"I don't like to be a kind of person that looks negatively at the world, and perhaps not having had to experience a lot of those things kind of allows me to slightly live in my naïve bubble where I can still feel human without feeling like the world is completely falling apart."
Machado will release his debut solo album "Hollywood y Sycamore", on September 25 via Chesky Records' sub-label Coconut Bay.

LACUNA COIL's CRISTINA SCABBIA: 'A Lot Of People Are Underestimating The Value And Importance Of Music In The World'LACUNA COIL singer Cristina Scabbia recently spoke to Campus Party about how the coronavirus pandemic has affected the music industry, with pretty much every live show, and festival being canceled or postponed. She said (see video below): "It feels crazy, 'cause it has already changed the music industry, because everything stopped. There is nothing happening — gatherings, of course, are not possible, and concerts are all about gathering, are all about people getting together, sweating together, singing in each other's face. So, of course, everything stopped, no traveling allowed. We had to cancel two tours, and, of course, I know many, many friends and artists that had to do the same.
"The craziest thing is that we don't know when everything will restart again," she continued. "Because in other jobs, at least they had a word, 'Okay, you're gonna start this month,' with some security things to take care of [and] to be careful about. But for us and all the artists around the world, it's really difficult. And it's not about artists only, but there's a lot of people who work behind the scenes.
"A lot of people tend to forget this, 'cause it's not only a problem of singers and musicians, but it's also a problem for whoever builds stages, whoever is working in venues," she added. "The owners of venues have had to close down sometimes because of COVID. So it is a huge, huge problem, and the whole business has been heavily affected."
Asked if there is anything she would change about the music business if she could, Cristina said: "Well, there are some things that I would definitely change, because I think that a lot of people are underestimating the value and the importance of music in the world. We hear music all the time and so much that we got so used to it that we think it's just something happening. So a lot of people [are] not really considering the hard work that musicians, singers are doing creating music. Sometimes to be a musician is not even considered a job. So if I could change something, I would apply some more rules to protect the job of a musician and something that kind of [stresses] the importance of saying music, it's great, it's beautiful, we all want it, but it doesn't really happen all of a sudden. There is someone who creates it, there is someone who records it, there is a lot of work behind [it] and a lot of money involved. So when you do it for a living, you're spending a lot of money, because it is your life and it is your job. So I would change some regulations, especially of music online or some platforms that are not giving enough compensation to a lot of musicians."
This past July, LACUNA COIL announced "Black Anima: Live From The Apocalypse", an exclusive streaming show featuring a full performance of "Black Anima" for the very first time, including songs never performed live, plus special backstage/off-camera moments and more. The Italian heavy rockers will play a special streaming show on Friday, September 11 from the Alcatraz Club in Milan in what will certainly be a unique and once-in-a-lifetime event. After the success of the acclaimed 20th-anniversary concert "The 119 Show", the band has once again gone all out to create an outstanding and exclusive spectacle that won't disappoint fans all over the world. The show will be available to view only once, live, via streaming.
"Black Anima: Live From The Apocalypse" will be hosted on A-Live.

Exclusive: EARSHOT Unveil Poignant Video For Latest Single “Been A Long Time”Known for their driving hard rock anthems and full-throttle performances, Earshot is revealing a more sobering side with the new video for their latest hit single, “Been A Long Time”. The video, which powerfully depicts the depths of depression and mental illness resulting from Pandemic lockdowns, can be seen below.
Like the single itself, which also acutely addresses the inner struggles of isolation, the video was created remotely. Martin, who produced and edited it from his LA home studio with footage he sourced from Artgrid.io, says the objective of the video is to “serve as a reminder to everyone out there that they are not alone and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel… even if it’s not quite visible just yet.”
“Fans immediately resonated with the song emotionally and mentally. I think, because they could tell I was also going through the same thing. It's like talking to someone who understands you. Who can empathize with you. Who reassures you that you're going to be ok,” said Martin. “That’s why I felt it was important to put together a video that connected with our audience on a deeper visual level as well.”
Listeners certainly have “connected” with Earshot’s new single. In fact, as their first original song in more than five years, “Been A Long Time” was the #2 Most Added Song On The Billboard Mainstream And Active Rock Charts and is currently among The Greatest/ Most Increased Airplay On The Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart & Foundations Charts for three consecutive weeks.
The track is the first from a new collection of material that is scheduled to be released throughout 2021 as a series of singles. It marks the group’s first original music since their 2015 independently-released EP Aftermath. Prior to that, their first two albums featured songs charting in the Billboard Top 200 with their debut single “Get Away” reaching #4 on the U.S. Active Rock radio charts and staying in the top 100 for over 64 weeks.
However, since 2015, several of the band members (which also comprise guitarist Andy Stafford, bassist John Novak and drummer Mike Sylvia) have been busy working on solo and/or other projects including Martin who recently sang lead vocals on George Lynch and Jeff Pilson’s cover of Duran Duran’s “Ordinary World” on the Heavy Hitters album.
“Been A Long Time” was produced by Martin and Fink, mixed by Cedrick Courtois and mastered by Rob Brill.

Canada's WAKE Sign Worldwide Deal With Metal Blade RecordsMetal Blade Records welcomes Wake to its worldwide roster.
Relentless transformation, aggression, and transcendence have written the script for Canadian metallers Wake. Since their formation in 2009, they've released numerous EPs and singles, plus five full-lengths - touring the world in support of it. Now, for their upcoming sixth album [set to be recorded in July 2021 with producer Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Archspire)], Wake has joined forces with Metal Blade Records, marking a new chapter for the quintet.
Wake comments: "All of us in Wake have had a lot of regard both for Metal Blade and for the bands on its roster from any era. An endless stream of Metal Blade artists have been played in our van during any number of tours. For us, playing music has always been something that we've tried to do on our own terms and with our own vision. We've explored a lot of ground musically, and that was influenced by the history that Metal Blade was there to write. So, we're very excited to say that we've joined up with Metal Blade. Expect a lot more noise from our camp in the near future."
Wake's latest full-length, Devouring Ruin, was featured on several "best of 2020" lists; soon after its release, the group dropped their Confluence EP. Fans can watch a trailer for the upcoming behind-the-scenes video about the making of Confluence:
Most recently, Wake released a new track - "Vast And Infinite" - in October 2020, exclusively through Decibel Magazine as a part of their Flexi Series.
Stay tuned for more news about Wake coming soon!

HEXVESSEL Announce 10th Anniversary Edition Of Dawnbearer AlbumHexvessel and Svart Records celebrate the 10th anniversary of Hexvessel’s debut album, Dawnbearer, with a set of reissues, including CD, double vinyl plus an exclusive limited vinyl box set with a bonus LP containing demos and early versions of tracks on the album. Pre-orders are available here.
“Dawnbearer is a very important album for us, being our first album but also the first original album release for Svart Records. It’s also a very special record for our fans, and one that’s particularly close to my heart, in a world of its own when compared to the other records we have made. Considering that it’s been out of print now for some time, I’m delighted to be able to oversee a reissue of this album, together with original demos and out-takes, and liner notes showing the making of this album which carries the initial DNA of Hexvessel’s musical and spiritual journey”, says band leader Mat McNerney, “We haven’t touched a thing on the original layout, but added some bonus material for the limited edition, should you wish to own a luxury edition of this, our now classic debut.”
Hexvessel band was founded by English singer/songwriter Mat McNerney (Beastmilk, Grave Pleasures, Carpenter Brut etc) after he moved to Finland in 2009. Their style of music has been referred to as “forest folk”. Their debut album Dawnbearer was released worldwide in 2011 on Svart Records and is considered to be an influential classic record of the modern Occult Rock revival. Highly popular with Hexvessel fans and unique in their catalogue, featuring guitars by Andrew McIvor (Code), violin work of Daniel Pioro (who works on Paul Thomas Anderson’s soundtracks with Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead), the early production work of Jaime Gomez Arellano (Ghost, Paradise Lost), and guest vocals from Carl Michael Eide (Virus, Ved Buens Ende, Aura Noir).
The album will be reissued digitally and on CD on April 16, with the vinyl editions expected to arrive later in April or May.

TETRARCH To Release Unstable Album In April; "You Never Listen" Music Video PostedAfter making massive strides at media, radio, streaming and beyond in 2020, breakout metal stars Tetrarch are about to own 2021 with the release of their sophomore full-length album, Unstable, scheduled to drop on April 30 via Napalm Records.
Following the release of their latest hit “I’m Not Right”, Tetrarch have revealed another blazing new single, “You Never Listen”. The earworm ode to relationships-gone-bad packs a punch with chunky, breakneck riffs and a sing-a-long worthy chorus, proving it as an accessible yet dynamic knockout.
Tetrarch frontman/guitarist Josh Fore says about the track: “‘You Never Listen’ is for anybody who has struggled or is struggling through a broken relationship - whether it be with a family member, friend, significant other, or even with themselves. So many times, we find that people we once were close with or felt like we knew well show a darker and different side of themselves that forces us apart. ‘You Never Listen’ is about having the strength to say enough is enough and to rid yourself of those toxic situations.”
Lead guitarist Diamond Rowe adds about the track’s blistering new music video: “We wanted to do something unexpected and approach the song from a different lens. Conceptually, the video follows a young kid who is obviously living in a bad situation in a messed-up home. Throughout the video, the kid deals with the inner voices and visions in his head, represented by the band members appearing and disappearing, as he struggles to understand what’s real and what isn’t. As the song ramps up, we wanted to portray the kid as telling those voices to shut up as he takes control and rids himself of the negative energy around him.”
Produced by the band and Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Allegaeon, Khemmis), Unstable follows the band’s breakout debut Freak (2017). The new album shines not only as a natural step forward for Tetrarch, but a giant leap ahead - an even more focused effort combining bright flourishes, grooving low-end and soaring choruses. Unstable wastes no time igniting with the unforgettable, punching first single “I’m Not Right”. Boosted by frontman Josh Fore’s raw emotion and dynamic vocal style, the track pays homage to the genre’s greats while lifted by the eerie leads of trailblazing lead guitarist Diamond Rowe. Radio-ready, lyrically-relevant tracks like anti-bullying anthem for the ages “Sick Of You” and empowering “You Never Listen” showcase Tetrarch’s hefty progressions and unforgettable choruses. Unstable’s heaviest offerings prove the band’s dynamic assault of varying heavy styles, most notedly on assertive breakneck burner “Negative Noise” - a track that will turn the heads of metal’s greatest riffers with Rowe’s mighty axe attack - and on the melodically chilling “Take A Look Inside”, highlighting the powerful rhythm section of bassist Ryan Lerner and drummer Ruben Limas. The album explores a brooding, introspective side of the band on the standout, melodic “Addicted” and closer track “Trust Me”, which trickles-in supernatural atmosphere. Delivering heavy hit after hit, Unstable is 10 tracks of pure potency and undeniable talent.
Diamond Rowe says about the album: “The album has an overall theme of self-reflection and really looking at the relationships or parts of yourself/your life that you don’t like and getting out of those situations. It’s an angsty record. Musically, we were not timid in showing that we refuse to be boxed in as artists, and I think we really came out swinging with showing the world the type of band that we want to be. Freak did great for us and showed us that the music we were making was something that people wanted to hear, and that gave us the confidence to write and record this beast of an album.”
Unstable will be available in the following formats:
- 4 page CD Digipak + 12 page Booklet
- 4 page CD Digipak + 12 page Booklet + Patch (Napalm Mailorder - limited to 500 worldwide)

Finland's KAAMOS WARRIORS Release Official Video For New Single "Tuli"Finnish dark metal band Kaamos Warriors have released their third studio album, Kirous, via Inverse Records in late 2020. Below is the official video for the new single "Tuli".
Guitarist Jani Moilanen comments: "Kirous is our third album representing the growing atmosphere of sounds and versatility of the band while maintaining the essence of our unique style. Album starts with the opening track 'Askeleet' introducing the atmosphere of the record. It is followed by the previously released 'Kuilu' and 'Tuonentuoja'. The fourth track 'Tuli' is one of the fastest tracks lifting up the tempo after the slow and atmospheric 'Tuonentuoja'. The fifth song carries the name of the album and gives a first taste of great sounds of strings in the middle of the darkness. It is followed by the seriously fast opening riff of the 'Totuus', which includes so far the most savage and brutal vocals of the band. Seventh track 'Usva' captures the, beautiful combination of brutal and atmospheric riffs. The album ends with the polished diamond of the album and the whole band, 'Elävän Tulen Liekki'. Lyrically it is built with the albums previous lyrics and with changing choruses."

SOMBRIA Release New Single / Video "Ballet Of Sadness"Sombria is a dark, melancholic metal project formed by singer / songwriter Dimi De San, who works under the name Valentina Devin, and guitarist / composer Raven Seven. The band has an international line-up featuring members from Norway, Greece and Mexico. They released their debut album, Chirographon Dei, on November 27th, 2020 via Inverse Records.
They have released an official music video for "Ballet of Sadness". Check ot out below.
"'Ballet of Sadness' is a song that portrays the struggle, the pain, the beauty and divinity behind art. Being an artist is something that words can hardly describe. Giving your body and soul in exchange of mastering your precious gift, the only thing that gives you peace, serenity and purpose while at the same time breaks you down. This piece is dedicated to all the people who in spite all the odds persevere, commit to the fullest and never cease till they achieve the best, not only on their field but as humans as well."
Dimi De San’s music path started on 2012 with the formation of the band Caelestia which had been leading up to 2019. Then she decided to leave and join forces with Raven Seven creating Sombria .
Both musicians have worked with big names of the metal industry like Toni Lindgren from Fascination Street Studios and Fredrik Nordström, Bjorn "Speed" Strid of Soilwork, drummer Markus ‘’Makka’’ Freiwald of Sodom, and collaborated with big artists and directors like Seth Siro Anthon (Septicflesh, Paradise Lost, Moonspell) , Gogo Melone (Aeonian Sorrow) and Matthias Kolleg (Kreator, Lacrimosa).
Their live appearances are numerous appearing with important bands like Katatonia, Arch Enemy, Insomnium, Draconian among others, including Raven Seven's very succesfull collaborations at big metal festivals. Dimi's successful tour in 2019 with Norwegian Vulture Industries, Hellheim and Madder Mortem marked the beginning of Sombria as a life project.
Its main purpose apart from featuring music, acting and dancing is aiming to raise awareness - through their music, lyrics and performances - over many sensitive subjects like child poverty, environmental issues, equality, and also focusing on helping people in need as much as possible.
Chirographon Dei is Sombria's debut full length album consisting of nine songs, recorded, mixed and mastered by Raven Seven in his studio. All songs were composed by Raven Seven, the lyrics were written by Dimi De San.

CAPRA Reveal Details Of Debut In TransmissionOn April 23, Capra will release their debut full-length, In Transmission, via Blacklight Media / Metal Blade Records. For a first preview of the album, a video for the new single, "The Locust Preacher" (directed by Matt Valentin), can be viewed below.
In Transmission can be preordered in the following formats:
- jewelcase-CD
- white / black marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 250 copies)
- yellow w/ black dust vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 250 copies)
- clear w/ pink and black splatter vinyl (US exclusive)
Formed in 2016 by guitarist Tyler Harper and drummer Jeremy Randazzo, who had previously worked together in multiple projects, Harper had just come out of a 90-day stint in rehab and was looking to focus on something new. The initial idea was to create something that would be fresh while still giving listeners a sense of nostalgia for the sounds of the late 90's and early 2000's hardcore and punk scenes. After going through a few line-up changes, they ultimately added bassist Ben Paramore and vocalist Crow Lotus, and everything came together. "This band symbolizes that hard work, determination, passion, and drive can lead to success. We're all very outspoken on our past struggles and intend to help others that feel like they're in a hole so deep that they can't climb out of it," Harper asserts. In Transmission is literally the culmination of years of hard work, reflecting everything they have been writing and pouring into the band since solidifying the lineup. "We wanted it to be the heaviest and most complete record we could possibly lay down, composed of only the best songs we've written over years of playing together. It's the best set of songs we've ever had, and we're all extremely proud of them, and each other, so we hope it sounds like a total passion project - because it is," says Paramore.
Predominantly tracked in December 2019, In Transmission was recorded with Jai Benoit (Golgothan, Father Rust), then mixed by Taylor Young (Nails, Twitching Tongues) and mastered by Brad Boatwright (Pig Destroyer, Integrity, Torche, Idle Hands). The only exceptions were "Mutt," "Transfiguration," and "Deadbeat Assailant," which were recorded during the pandemic lockdown, and required the members to go into the studio individually to lay down their parts rather than all going in together. The hardest aspect of making the record turned out to be naming it. "We went through a plethora of titles trying to find what we felt was the perfect name," Paramore says. "We've been sitting on the majority of this record since the end of 2019 and had originally hoped to send it out to the masses mid-summer, but thanks to the pandemic, all of that obviously got pushed back. In a lot of ways, this is a message we've been trying to send out that has essentially been stuck or lost in transmission for a year now, and we're all ready for that message to finally be received."

MALICE DIVINE Releases New Single “Triumphant Return”The one-man act of Toronto’s Malice Divine brings to you the third and final single “Triumphant Return” from the upcoming debut self-titled album.
“Triumphant Return” is the least dark song on the self-titled and also the most uplifting song on the album overall. It still retains the aggressiveness that is present throughout the other eight songs on the offering.
Ric Galvez explains the track in his own words:
“The last of the three singles to be released before the full album, Triumphant Return is by far the most uplifting song on the album. As the song title implies, I was aiming to create a very triumphant feeling from the music with this song. The lyrics of the song further amplify the feeling of triumph that is inherent to this song, dealing with the theme of overcoming all obstacles that you face in life and bouncing back stronger than ever.”
The lyrics explored on the self-titled album are actually quite personal and deal with Ric Galvez’s thoughts and feelings regarding his life experiences. They are an outlet for self-expression, while also exploring topics such as spirituality and psychology with an underlying theme of personal empowerment.
The self-titled debut album was recorded at Monolithic Productions in Oshawa, Ontario by Tyler Williams beginning in January 2020. After the recording process had concluded, the album was re-amped and mixed by Tyler Williams and then Mastered by Lasse Lammert of LSD-Studio in Germany. This album is an excellent example of time during the Covid-19 pandemic being put to good use.
Melodic and captivating with a good blend of heavy styles, Malice Divine is recommended for fans of Death, Dissection, and Immortal.
The self-titled album will be released on February 19.

IMMORTAL GUARIDAN Guitarist / Keyboardist Shares Cover Of ERIC JOHNSON’s “Cliffs Of Dover”Immortal Guardian guitarist/keyboardist Gabriel Guardian, well known on the YouTube universe for his incredible multi-instrumental cover videos, is sharing his latest rendition of Eric Johnson's Grammy Award winning single "Cliffs Of Dover".
Gabriel Guardian adds:
"I've always been absolutely fascinated by this song. It's one of a kind in its composition, tone, phrasing, and all around badassery. Eric Johnson, you sir are a genius. Thank you for inspiring me as a young Texan guitarist. I covered this song in my 8th-grade talent show and from then to even now, it never got any easier, but my passion and feeling towards every note felt the same! I love how some songs with no lyrics can pull so much emotion and nostalgia outta me. Happy to have finally had the time and skill to do a proper video for this epic song."
The band urges fans to visit their online shop to pre-order their new album, Psychosomatic, which will be released on February 12 via M-Theory Audio.
Immortal Guardian previously unveiled a music video for “Lockdown”, the second single from their forthcoming concept album, Psychosomatic. The clip, which showcases the group cleverly adapting to the same stay-at-home conditions that are affecting millions of people around the world at this moment can be viewed below.
"Rich or poor, it doesn't matter, every human this year experienced some kind of lockdown/isolation during this insane year,” says guitarist / keyboardist Gabriel Guardian. “We couldn't even just meet up because our borders were on lockdown for international travel. Thank god for the internet, as we were able to still create music and keep each other company online even with thousands of miles between each member. 'Lockdown' talks about all of the same questions we all have been asking ourselves since the start of the pandemic. Where did this all come from? Who's to blame? Is the lockdown saving more lives than it's destroying? We can only keep making music through these crazy times and hope for a better tomorrow."
Tracklisting:
"Psychosomatic"
"Read Between The Lines"
"Lockdown"
"Phobia"
"Clocks"
"Self-Isolation"
"Goodbye To Farewells"
"Candlelight"
"Find The Reason"
"New Day Rising"
After winning over new audiences with their acclaimed 2018 debut full-length Age of Revolution and touring relentlessly alongside fellow shredders such as Marty Friedman, Powerglove, and Exmortus, Immortal Guardian gathered in Las Vegas earlier this year to begin recording their second album. As the spread of COVID-19 and the subsequent pandemic began to ensue, each member of the band retreated to their respective hometowns. With shutdowns around the world being enforced, the band completely scrapped the record that they had been working on and were heavily inspired to write and create a new thematic record about their emotions surrounding current events.
The video for “Read Between The Lines” - produced and directed by SBLGA - also saw the members of Immortal Guardian contributing remotely from their respective homes, and shows off the continued refinement of their full-frontal assault of anthemic melodies, technical rhythms, furious shred and high-flying vocals.
Psychosomatic is the next step in Immortal Guardian’s evolution while still capturing the band’s exhilarating trademark melding of melodic power metal with progressive / shred tendencies.
Immortal Guardian is:
Gabriel Guardian – guitars / keyboards
Carlos Zema – vocals
Justin Piedimonte – drums
Josh Lopez – bass

TOXIC RUIN Sign With M-Theory Audio; Nightmare Eclipse Album Due Later This YearSheboygan, WI’s Toxic Ruin – who infuse their energetic thrash metal assault with death metal brutality and clinical technicality – has signed with M-Theory Audio. Their second full-length album, Nightmare Eclipse, is due for worldwide release later this year. The first taste of the bludgeoning to come, “Ritual Rebirth”, can be heard below.
“Those of you who know me personally know that music has always been a big part of my life,” says vocalist/bassist Stephen Behrendt. “For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to be in a band and playing music for the masses. Not that I can't or wasn't able to do that before, but this is the next step in our musical career. I feel like I speak for the whole band when I say that we are beyond excited to be joining the M-Theory Audio family, and believe we can accomplish great things together. Thanks for all of your continued support, and we hope to see you all out there soon!”
Toxic Ruin was formed in 2014 with a mission of blending classic thrash metal, old-school death metal, and modern technicality and tones into a wicked headbanging brew. Operating out of their collective hometown of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the band released their debut album, Subterranean Terror, in 2016. This opening serve showcased the group's already-burgeoning barrage of furious riffs and lyrical content ranging from the sociopolitical commentary of tracks such as “Seat Of Corruption” to the beloved craving of a good drink on songs such as “Alcoholocaust.”
The group followed up that debut record with the release of their 2018 EP, Mortal Insolence. The effort saw the current lineup of Toxic Ruin take shape with Behrendt stepping into the vocalist position and the debut of rhythm guitarist Blake Toltzmann alongside lead guitarist Jacob Baneck and drummer David Miller.
The new lineup began writing and recording songs for their second full-length album while relentlessly touring the United States in 2019 alongside bands such as Lich King, Micawber and Stonecutters and playing multiple festivals including Full Terror Assault and Slam Dakota, plus winning 2nd Place in the 2019 edition of Wacken Metal Battle USA. The result is Toxic Ruin's most mature and complex record to date, while also being their heaviest display of metallic force so far. Guest appearances from guitarists Glen Drover (Eidolon/ex-Megadeth), Derek DeBruin (Micawber) and Nick Weyers (Aronious) provide additional ear candy for aficionados of metallic guitar wizardry.
“Nightmare Eclipse” is the next evolution in blending the heavier sounds of metal's past with the modern musicianship of metal's present. More information on Toxic Ruin's latest record and pre-order will be revealed in the weeks to come by M-Theory Audio.

NON SERVIAM Release "Ô World, Ô Work!" Music VideoAnonymous experimental metal collective, Non Serviam, have released a new video for the song, "Ô World, Ô Work", a powerful act of defiance directed at capitalism and its system of general exploitation.
Non Serviam creates a sonic collage of experimental, black, doom, grindcore, crust and industrial metal while staying within the framework of a baroque influence.
Non Serviam have teamed up with the Code666 label to bring forth another masterful release, blurring lines between genres and going beyond the boundaries that restrain them.
Le Coeur Bat (The Heart Beats) is comprised of eight tracks which delve into the the deepest pits of the universe and worse even still, the darkest corners of the mind. This psychosis inspiring album will be available on all major platforms digitally as well as digipack CD and yellow vinyl on April 23.
Non Serviam adds: "It's a chance for a project like Non Serviam to benefit from the expertise and scouting talents of Code666. It is indeed one of the rare labels that has offered in the last decades the possibility to get under the spell of some of the best black metal bands from around the world, that is to say for us the most experimental and consequent ones, among which some of our inspirations (Ephel Duath, Imperial Triumphant, Negură Bunget, Aborym, Amesoeurs, Vampillia). Le Coeur Bat is an album that has been delayed many times, and has suffered greatly from the current pandemic crisis, it must now be released, like all of us. Long live the devil who threatens this world of money, cops and viruses - The old world has to burn."

SENTINELS Sign With Sharptone Records; "Inertia" Music Video ReleasedSharptone Records have welcomed New Jersey based progressive metal/hardcore band, Sentinels, to the label's ever-growing roster of trailblazing acts.
In celebration of the partnership, Sentinels has released a diabolical new song titled "Inertia" from their forthcoming debut album, to be announced at a later date. Stream the song here, and watch the clip below.
Commenting on the signing, drummer Dave Rucki says: “We are beyond excited to announce our signing with Sharptone Records. The day the label launched, we knew that if there was a home for us, it was now realized. To have them backing us, and to even be writing this now is surreal. ‘Inertia’ perfectly represents the level of aggression we aim for in our music. With Josh’s voice, we were able to elevate that aggression and further convey the more emotional moments in the song. ‘Inertia’ is about suicidal thoughts and confiding in somebody close only to be told “that’s selfish”, then deciding whether to go through with it, or prove that you can overcome it to appease those around you. We have been a band since 2012, but now solidifying our lineup with Josh on vocals, we can confidently say, this is what we had always envisioned for Sentinels.”
Vocalist Josh Hardiman adds: "Sharptone, Sentinels, and the team behind the scenes have taken a huge risk on me, the gravity of which I most certainly feel, but the difference between this weight and my burdens since past, is that now with each passing day I become stronger and more alive. More and more equipped to handle and weather new storms for now I am living a life that I want to have gifted to me by those who believed in me. I will not fail with their continued support. This is a new beginning and I hope that everyone who listens to “Inertia” want to embark on this new chapter with us."
The New Jersey quintet - Thomas Cardone [guitar], Chris Dombrowski [guitar], Danny Cruz [bass, vocals], Dave Rucki [drums, vocals], and Josh Hardiman [vocals] - cut their teeth with EPs Idylls [2013] and World Divide [2016] and cemented their signature sound with 2019's Unsound Recollections, which featured fan favorite tracks "Elysium" and "Déjà Vu". Having proven themselves time and time again with boundless technical musicianship and dynamic songwriting, Sentinels set their sites on conquering the metalcore scene with their hotly anticipated debut full-length that's due out later this year from SharpTone Records.

CONJURER Sign Worldwide Deal With Nuclear Blast; Sophomore Full-Length To Be Released This YearConjurer have signed a worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast Records. Their still-untitled second full-length and follow-up to their 2018 debut album, Mire, is set to be released later this year.
Conjurer's Brady Deeprose (guitar & vocals) comments: “Conjurer are extremely excited to partner with Nuclear Blast worldwide for the forthcoming release of our second album. Having spent the last year or so getting to know Monte Conner, we count ourselves lucky to be working with not only a true legend in the world of heavy music but one who continues to champion exciting, forward-thinking art. We’ve now also been introduced to Barley and the rest of the international team at NB and it’s evident that they understand our mentality and want nothing more than to support and nourish our creativity. In what has been an awful year on so many levels, we are grateful to have found the right home for our music. We look forward to working together with NB to bring you our sophomore album in 2021, and much more in the years to follow.”
Nuclear Blast's A&R legend Monte Conner states: “I am thrilled to welcome the mighty Conjurer to the worldwide NB family. I must stress “worldwide” because I originally signed them just for North America, but due to a change in circumstances I got to sign them again, and this time for the WORLD! So, I guess you could say I liked these guys so much that I signed them TWICE! When COVID finally lifts, be sure and see them live as they will absolutely blow you away.”
European A&R at Nuclear Blast, Nathan Barley Phillips, adds: “My first experience of Conjurer playing live was during a cold and miserable night in Milton Keynes in 2016 - I didn't think there was a band capable of radioactively reheating my bones whilst also matching the utter bleakness of the weather outside. Conjurer achieved it in droves, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Absolutely stoked to serve as European A&R for the band during the next chapter of their career."

THE PRETTY RECKLESS Releases Music Video For New Single 'And So It Went' Feat. TOM MORELLOTHE PRETTY RECKLESS has shared the official video for the new single "And So It Went" featuring guitarist Tom Morello (RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE). By thought and by action, emotion and intellect, the accompanying visual personifies the angst and unrest alive in this timely anthem.
"The world has been in such a state of civil unrest," singer Taylor Momsen says about the track. "'And So It Went' basically comes from that vision. As a songwriter, I feel like I'm not here to preach. I use music to observe and communicate what I see around me. This song felt like the perfect storm for Tom Morello to join in and rip the sound waves apart with his guitar. It was more than a pleasure having him add his unique and defining sound to the song."
Morello states about working with THE PRETTY RECKLESS: "I got to perform with Taylor Momsen at the Chris Cornell memorial show. We rocked 'Loud Love' and she nailed it — no easy task. Thank goodness she and her band continue to fly the flag for rock 'n' roll in a mighty way."
"And So It Went" is taken from THE PRETTY RECKLESS's upcoming album, "Death By Rock And Roll", which will be released on February 12 via Fearless Records in the U.S. and Century Media Records in the rest of the world.
"Death By Rock And Roll" is THE PRETTY RECKLESS's first LP to be made without longtime producer Kato Khandwala, who died in April 2018 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Morello joins previously announced guests Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron from SOUNDGARDEN. The song with Cameron and Thayil, called "Only Love Can Save Me Now", was recorded at Seattle's legendary London Bridge Studios, where seminal LPs like PEARL JAM's "Ten" and SOUNDGARDEN's "Louder Than Love" were laid down.
Momsen told Forbes about "Death By Rock And Roll": "We worked really hard on this album and we went through a lot of loss, a lot of tragedy, and we really poured our hearts and souls into it and in a way I can't express verbally. It's all there in the music, so that's why I say it feels like a rebirth. It almost feels like the first record in a sense, because we really had to go back to the beginning after losing Kato, our producer. I'm just really excited for people to hear it because, in my opinion, it's the best album we've ever made so it's hard to sit on this music.
"We talked about holding the song 'Death By Rock And Roll' for longer too, and I was, like, 'I can't do this. I can't just sit on this album forever.' The world needs music and music has such a healing thing to it, and it saved my life, time and time again. If we put out a song and if it can put a smile on some people's faces, great, we'll take it from there. That's kind of what we're doing — we're riding the wave. This is just such an unprecedented time so we're trying to take it step by step, and see where things go. Everything is still up in the air, but we are planning on releasing more singles before the full album is out. There's going to be more music to come."

Ex-QUEENSRŸCHE Singer GEOFF TATE Releases Lyric Video For 'Strong Pressure' From Upcoming SWEET OBLIVION AlbumFormer QUEENSRŸCHE singer Geoff Tate will release the second album from his SWEET OBLIVION project, "Relentless", on April 9 via Frontiers Music Srl. The official lyric video for the disc's first single, "Strong Pressure", can be seen below.
The self-titled SWEET OBLIVION debut album caused quite a stir in the international hard rock and metal scene since it brought Tate back to a musical landscape akin to the sound of the stone cold classic metal albums he released with QUEENSRŸCHE during the 1980s. But what made the album work so well was that instead of being a simple throwback, other different musical influences were thrown into the mix, allowing fans to hear Tate in a simultaneously familiar and new musical setting.
While the production and main songwriting on the previous record were handled by Simone Mularoni of DGM, this time the production was instead handled by his fellow Italian metal maestro Aldo Lonobile (SECRET SPHERE, TIMO TOLKKI'S AVALON, ARCHON ANGEL).
Not only does Aldo produce and handle the songwriting, he is also featured on guitar. Other musicians appearing on the album include Michele Sanna on drums, Luigi Andreone on bass and Antonio Agate on keyboards.
This time around, Tate was more involved in the songwriting and asked Aldo to draft a very special song for him, which he would ultimately sing in Italian. The song also features guitars from Walter Cianciusi and Dario Parente, who are now also in the OPERATION: MINDCRIME live band.
Musically, this album showcases the great songwriting and performing talents of Lonobile and his cast of musicians and also marks a very welcomed return for Tate to a style that he made famous along with his former band.
"Relentless" recording lineup:
Geoff Tate - Vocals
Aldo Lonobile - Guitars
Luigi Andreone - Bass
Antonio Agate - Keys
Michele Sanna - Drums
Last year, Tate was forced to postpone a number of his tour dates due to the coronavirus pandemic that is spreading across the globe.
Tate spent the first two months of 2020 performing the QUEENSRŸCHE albums "Rage For Order" and "Empire" in their entirety on the "Empire 30th Anniversary Tour", which kicked off in January 2020 in Norway. Prior to that, Geoff celebrated the 30th anniversary of QUEENSRŸCHE's "Operation: Mindcrime" album on European and U.S. tours.
Tate's post-QUEENSRŸCHE band OPERATION: MINDCRIME released three albums over three years as part of a trilogy: "The Key" (September 2015), "Resurrection" (September 2016) and "The New Reality" (December 2017).

RATT's STEPHEN PEARCY Covers DURAN DURAN's 'Girls On Film'RATT frontman Stephen Pearcy has released a music video for his cover version of DURAN DURAN's 1981 single "Girls On Film". Check it out below.
Pearcy's version of "Girls On Film" comes four months after the arrival of his last solo single, "Night Flight". That track, a collaboration between Pearcy and his longtime guitarist Erik Ferentinos, is expected to appear on Stephen's upcoming sixth solo album, which is tentatively due later this year. The follow-up to 2018's "View To A Thrill" will reportedly feature 13 tracks.
Last July, Ferentinos, who has played with Pearcy for nearly two decades, told All Music/All Bands about the musical direction of Stephen's next album: "The new record will have the '80s rock sound that fans have come to expect from us with a few surprises thrown in for good measure. There are some heavy bangers on there that the RATT fans will love. I try to keep it edgy, but I want us to have a hit. I'm always trying to top what we've done so far, with catchier riffs and melodies to get more fans interested in our music."
Pearcy's fifth solo LP, "View To A Thrill", came out in November 2018 via Frontiers Music Srl. The follow-up to 2017's "Smash" was produced by Matt Thorne and Pearcy and was mixed and mastered by Thorne and Ferentinos.
Pearcy and bassist Juan Croucier are the sole remaining original members in RATT's current lineup, which made its live debut in July 2018 in Mulvane, Kansas. Joining them in the band are drummer Pete Holmes (BLACK 'N BLUE, RATT'S JUAN CROUCIER) and guitarist Jordan Ziff (RAZER).
Last month, Pearcy told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that he was open to the idea of making a new RATT album with all the surviving members of the band's classic lineup.
RATT hasn't released any new music since 2010's "Infestation" LP.

SERJ TANKIAN's 'Elasticity' EP Gets Release Date; Artwork UnveiledSYSTEM OF A DOWN frontman Serj Tankian will release a new solo collection of rock songs, "Elasticity", on March 19.
The official music video for the EP's title track, which was directed by Vlad Kaptur, will arrive tonight (Thursday, February 4) at 9:00 p.m. PST / 12:00 a.m. EST.
"Elasticity" track listing:
01. Elasticity
02. Your Mom
03. How Many Times?
04. Rumi
05. Electric Yerevan
The cover artwork can be seen below.
Serj Tankian will release the music video for the title track of his previously announced solo collection of rock songs,
"Elasticity" will arrive four months after the release of "Protect The Land" and "Genocidal Humanoidz", SYSTEM OF A DOWN's first new songs in 15 years. The SYSTEM tracks were motivated by the recently erupted conflict between Artsakh and Azerbaijan, the latter aided by Turkey and accountable for the greatest violence the region has endured in 26 years.
Speaking to Rolling Stone about how "Elasticity" came about, Serj said: "'Elasticity', the songs on that EP were written many years back. When I wrote them, the original concept, for me, was, 'What rock songs can come out of me right now that I can possibly work with SYSTEM on?' So the intention was, actually, to sit down, and I've played them for the [other] guys [in SYSTEM], and we even kind of messed around with some of 'em, and whatnot. And, obviously, we were unable to see eye-to-eye on continuing the future recordings of SYSTEM, except for, obviously, these two songs for the cause that we've done, and that was before — obviously, a couple of years before. So these songs, I decided to finish them myself and release them. And they are really interesting and beautiful songs — going from really heavy type of SYSTEM-esque type of music to really beautiful, ballady — including pianos and string arrangements and stuff like that. So, it's quite diverse for just five songs. And thematically, it's quite diverse as well — a song about terrorism; a song about protests in Armenia years ago; a song about my son Rumi, kind of also cut with the poet Rumi, in a way — it's an homage to the poet Rumi and his namesake, basically, in a way. And a few other pieces. So it's kind of all around the place, as everything I do is."
Serj went on to say that "Elasticity" "was supposed to come out in October, but when the war started, and when we decided to put out two songs with SYSTEM, that took priority for me. And I just called the record company that we're working with and just said, 'We need to push this. Can we make this work?' And they were very cool about it," he explained.
"Elasticity"'s title is a play on SYSTEM's massive 2001 album "Toxicity". Serj told SPIN: "I'm gonna call it 'Elasticity' just because I wanted to do it with SYSTEM and it didn't happen. For me, it's not 'Toxicity' but it is 'Toxicity'. [Laughs]"
SYSTEM OF A DOWN hasn't released a full-length album since the "Mezmerize" and "Hypnotize" LPs, which came out in 2005.
In 2018, guitarist Daron Malakian publicly accused Tankian of not wanting to record, with Tankian responding that creative and financial issues with Malakian led to the stalemate. In a message on Facebook, Tankian wrote that Malakian wanted to control SYSTEM's creative process, take more of the publishing money and be the only band member to speak to the press.
Within a week of their release, "Protect The Land" and "Genocidal Humanoidz" landed at positions No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, on Billboard's Hot Hard Rock Songs chart.

ALICE COOPER Drops Music Video For New Single 'Social Debris'Legendary rocker Alice Cooper celebrates his birthday today by releasing a new single, "Social Debris", from his upcoming studio album, "Detroit Stories".
The track is released digitally and it is accompanied by an official music video, which cane be seen below.
To celebrate the special occasion in style, Cooper has decided to offer "Social Debris" as free download for 24 hours on the artist's web site.
"The single 'Social Debris' is a gift to Detroit, to my fans and to myself," says Alice, "The track was written by the original Alice Cooper band. We never thought that we would ever fit in; the Alice Cooper band didn't fit in with anybody, because we were doing things that no other band did. We didn't fit in with the folk scene, we didn't fit in with the metal scene, we really didn't fit in with anything that was going on at that time. We just always felt like we were outsiders. We felt like we were social debris, we were in our own little world. So 'Social Debris' was just the original band writing a song about us, essentially. And it came out sounding like it belonged into 1971. That's just the original band — you can't change that. It's great."
"Detroit Stories" will be released on February 26 via earMUSIC.
Named for the city that launched the original Alice Cooper group on the road to success, "Detroit Stories" follows 2019's "Breadcrumbs" EP as a modern-day homage to the toughest and craziest rock and roll scene there ever was.
In 1970, fledgling producer Bob Ezrin walked into a farmhouse on the outskirts of Detroit to work with the Alice Cooper band. Abandoning flower power Los Angeles, because they were the opposite of the hippie peace and love ideal, Alice had brought his decidedly darker gang back to his birthplace to the legendary rock scene that gave birth to hard rock, garage rock, soul, funk, punk...and more.
Ezrin drilled the band for 10 hours a day to define their signature sound. Whenever they nailed a song, the inmates at the hospital for the criminally insane across the road cheered and thus the classic Alice Cooper sound was born.
"Detroit was heavy rock central then," explains Alice, "You'd play the Eastown and it would be Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, THE STOOGES and THE WHO, for $4! The next weekend at the Grande it was MC5, BROWNSVILLE STATION and FLEETWOOD MAC, or SAVOY BROWN or the SMALL FACES. You couldn't be a soft-rock band or you'd get your ass kicked."
"Los Angeles had its sound with THE DOORS, LOVE and BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD," he says, "San Francisco had the GRATEFUL DEAD and JEFFERSON AIRPLANE. New York had THE RASCALS and THE VELVET UNDERGROUND. But Detroit was the birthplace of angry hard rock. After not fitting in anywhere in the U.S. (musically or image wise) Detroit was the only place that recognized the Alice Cooper guitar-driven hard rock sound and our crazy stage show. Detroit was a haven for the outcasts. And when they found out I was born in East Detroit... we were home."
50 years later, Alice and Ezrin gathered some legendary Detroit musicians in a Detroit studio to record "Detroit Stories", Alice Cooper's new album that celebrates that spirit for a new era. If 2019's "Breadcrumbs" EP laid down the trail to the city, "Detroit Stories" drives like a muscle car right down Woodward Ave.
"We recorded with Wayne Kramer (guitarist and writer from the MC5), Johnny "Bee" Badanjek (drums; from the legendary DETROIT WHEELS), Paul Randolph (legendary Detroit jazz and R&B bassist) as well as the Motor City Horns and other local musicians," explains Ezrin, "We had musical ideas and encouragement from John Varvatos, the support of the folks at Shinola, and we recorded at Rustbelt Studios in Royal Oak. This was made in detroit for Detroit by Detroit denizens!"
"Detroit Stories" will be available on CD, CD+DVD digipak, CD box set (including CD, Blu-ray, t-shirt, face mask, torch light and 3 stickers), and 2LP gatefold.
The DVD and Blu-ray will show the incredible live performance "A Paranormal Evening At The Olympia Paris" for the first time on video. With the whole concert culture being shut down due to COVID-19, Alice Cooper felt the need to share one of his latest shows with his fans as he cannot wait to get back on the road — better than ever.

Report: ICED EARTH's JON SCHAFFER Hadn't Voted For President In 12 Years Before 2020 ElectionAccording to WISH-TV, ICED EARTH guitarist Jon Schaffer is the only Indiana resident charged with entering the U.S. Capitol during the January 6 insurrection who voted in the most recent presidential election.
Schaffer, who lives in Edinburgh, Indiana, voted in 2020, but it had been 12 years since he last voted. He did not vote in the 2016 general election, according to documents uncovered by WISH-TV.
The other three Indiana men charged with storming the Capitol did not vote in the last general election.
Schaffer was arrested on January 17 for his involvement in the insurrection. The 52-year-old musician is facing six federal criminal charges after he was accused of spraying a police officer with a pepper-based bear repellant.
Schaffer was still being held at Marion County Jail as of Friday morning (January 29), a week after U.S. Magistrate for the Southern District of Indiana judge Mark Dinsmore signed an order for the musician to appear in D.C.'s district court.
During the insurrection, Jon was photographed wearing an "Oath Keepers Lifetime Member" cap, holding a container of bear spray and "engaging in verbal altercations with Capitol Police inside the Capitol building," according to a federal statement of facts in his case.
The Oath Keepers describe themselves as an association of former law enforcement and military personnel dedicated to "support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic." But the Anti-Defamation League describes it as "a large but loosely organized collection of right-wing anti-government extremists who are part of the militia movement, which believes that the federal government has been coopted by a shadowy conspiracy that is trying to strip American citizens of their rights."
Schaffer has been held in the Marion County Jail since surrendering to police. He made his first court appearance on January 18.
Authorities say Schaffer was photographed and seen on surveillance video carrying a pepper-based bear repellant and arguing with Capitol Police officers inside the Capitol.
Just hours after the insurrection, ICED EARTH fans recognized Schaffer in a photo released by federal investigators in which he could be seen at the front of a mob, wearing black leather fingerless tactical gloves and pointing his finger while yelling at someone out of the frame.
Schaffer is believed to be one of at least 400 people who are being investigated by FBI officials over their roles in the insurrection.
More than 150 criminal cases have been filed so far. Charges include unauthorized access, theft, damage to government property and assault on law enforcement officers.
While Schaffer has not yet said anything publicly about his involvement in the riot, his ICED EARTH bandmates put out a statement on Instagram and Facebook opposing the insurrection.
"We absolutely DO NOT condone nor do we support riots or the acts of violence that the rioters were involved in on January 6th at the US Capitol building," they wrote. "We hope that all those involved that day are brought to justice to be investigated and answer for their actions."
Earlier last month, German daily newspaper Die Welt uploaded a video interview it conducted with Schaffer last November at a Washington, D.C. demonstration supporting Trump and protesting the 2020 presidential election results. In the chat, the guitarist said that "a group of thugs and criminals hijacked this country a long time ago" and warned that "they're messing with the wrong people here. Because now we see you, and you're going down. Mark my words."
Schaffer also seemingly threw his support behind Trump, saying "he's not your typical Republican" and claiming that America's 45th president is "dealing with a criminal mafia that has been in the shadows running the world, frankly, for a very long time. They wanna destroy all of our sovereignty and bring about global government," he added. "We're not having it… It will not happen. There will be a lot of blood shed, if it comes down to that — trust me. The American people will not go for that bullshit — once they understand what's actually happening. So, that's where we're at. Nobody wants this, but they're pushing us to a point where we have no choice."
