Report: STEVEN TYLER To Join THE JOE PERRY PROJECT On Stage At The Hollywood Bowl
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Steven Tyler is expected to join his longtime AEROSMITH bandmate Joe Perry on stage during THE JOE PERRY PROJECT's opening set for THE WHO at the Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday, September 17. Tyler will make an appearance as a surprise special guest, and he will sing three songs with Perry.
As previously reported, Tyler and Perry recently announced a collaborative new single, "My Only Angel", with British singer, songwriter and musician Yungblud, whose real name is Dominic Richard Harrison.
Tyler, Perry and Yungblud previously came together on September 7 for a performance honoring the legendary Ozzy Osbourne with a medley of his greatest hits at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.
THE JOE PERRY PROJECT, featuring Perry with musicians from AEROSMITH, THE BLACK CROWES and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, played eight dates in August.
The 2025 lineup of THE JOE PERRY PROJECT features AEROSMITH guitarists Perry and Brad Whitford with the Rock And Roll Hall Of Famers' touring keyboardist/backing vocalist Buck Johnson, along with THE BLACK CROWES' Chris Robinson on lead vocals and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' Robert DeLeo on bass and Jason Sutter on drums.
Perry and Tyler performed together for the first time in nearly two years at a private concert the singer hosted on April 30 in San Francisco, California. The event was a benefit for Janie's Fund, the initiative Tyler created in order to bring hope and healing to girls and young women who have experienced trauma.
Prior to the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, Tyler most recently appeared at BLACK SABBATH's "Back To The Beginning" charity concert, where he performed three songs alongside several other iconic musicians. The AEROSMITH singer covered "The Train Kept-A-Rollin'" with Ron Wood, Nuno Bettencourt, Tom Morello, Andrew Watt, Rudy Sarzo and Travis Barker, before belting out AEROSMITH's "Walk This Way" and LED ZEPPELIN's "Whole Lotta Love" with a nearly identical lineup of backing musicians, except for Barker being switched out with Chad Smith from the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS for these last two songs.
In a recent interview with WBUR's Jim Sullivan, Perry once again spoke about the possibility of AEROSMITH playing one final concert, a year after the legendary rockers announced that they were officially retiring from touring due to Tyler's vocal injury. AEROSMITH made the announcement on August 2, 2024 — nearly one year after the now-77-year-old singer fractured his larynx during a September 2023 show. Perry said about the likelihood of another AEROSMITH performance: "I would bet that there's an AEROSMITH show left. There's been talk about doing a documentary; that might be part of it. I've been spending a lot of time with Steven and he just doesn't want to tour and he can't tour. It's tough. I'm not sure I would want to go out and book another 40-city tour. It's a long way to the top and staying there takes it out of you, especially an AEROSMITH tour."
This past June, Perry told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that he is "always hoping" for another AEROSMITH concert "but going on the road, it's a big deal pulling that together. It's one thing to sit there and look online and see who's touring and stuff, and there's dates that show up, but there's so much planning, and what it takes out of you physically, it's a lot more than people realize," he explained. "It's one thing when you're doing it when you're 25 or 30, but it's another when you're starting to get up there like us. It's a really physical thing, going out on stage. And all that energy that you're putting out, that you're transferring to the audience, it takes something out of you in a physical and emotional way. And all of that energy that you give, that's flowing out there, that's making people feel good, it takes it out of you."
Perry added: "We talk probably a couple of times a week, and [Steven and I] played together up at a charity up in San Francisco [in late April]… So I don't know, man. But we're talking about it. I mean, except for anything on the calendar, we're all alive and well. So, we'll just have to see. I know there's gotta be at least another AEROSMITH gig, and I'm not looking forward to putting the setlist together for that one. But I don't know, man. We'll just have to see. I've always played like every show's the last one. I hate to sound like it's a downer, but I give it up every night."
Asked by host Eddie Trunk if Tyler seems well enough to be able to play a full AEROSMITH concert and whether he thinks Steven "would like to do that", Joe said: "I think he would. I think it's just a matter of getting there. We're up there [in age], man. And it's a lot. It was interesting, with COVID and everybody being home for that length of time, it was, like, 'Oh, so this is how other people live.' Actually sleeping in your own bed every night and hopefully not feeling shitty from COVID. In the beginning, it was pretty bad. But it really, really opens your eyes. I don't think I've gone a year without something on the calendar and having to be somewhere. So that's the bigger picture. [We enjoy being home] or doing other things. We all have stuff we like to do. And you can't [do those things when you are touring], whatever it is. So, I've got enough left in me. I still wanna do it. But right now, for [THE JOE PERRY PROJECT], I'm gonna be taking it out [this August] and giving it up, and I'm just glad I've got these guys to open up enough time to come along. So, we'll see what happens."
AEROSMITH's "Peace Out" tour came to a halt after what turned out to be a final gig in Elmont, New York on September 9, 2023. That show came just three dates into the trek, which was supposed to last through February 2024. Tyler said in a statement at the time that the injury caused bleeding but that he hoped he and his AEROSMITH bandmates would be back on the road after postponing a few shows.
The rescheduled "Peace Out" tour was due to begin September 20, 2024 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with special guests THE BLACK CROWES. | +1

SCULFORGE To Release “Unity Of The Galaxy” Single In October – “A Feelgood Speed Metal Grenade”
Germany’s Sculforge have checked in with the following announcement:
“We’re back and ready to party! After being busy all summer with nothing but vacations, tanning, cool drinks – and in Chris’s case, the question of how fast you have to be to escape an alligator without spilling his margarita – we somehow managed to bag a brand new song.
We all know how gloomy and uncertain times are right now. But still – or just because – we wrote ‘Unity Of The Galaxy’, a feelgood speed metal grenade, a sing-along bomb and simply a happy metal anthem that defies the mischief maker trend!
‘Unity Of The Galaxy’ is more than just a song ; it’s our version of hope a togetherness packed in 4 minutes for all of us out there!
Mark your calendars for October 3. Pre-save the song here and tell everyone about it!” | 0

DORO – Warriors Of The Sea To Be Released As Limited Edition Liquid-Filled Vinyl LP
Warriors Of The Sea is a special release by Doro Pesch. With this album, the Metal Queen bridges the gap for her numerous fans waiting for a new studio album while launching her winter tour season.
For the first time in her over-40-year career, Doro is releasing an album as liquid-filled vinyl – a vinyl record filled with liquid that you can actually drink. Doro reveals: “The record is filled with Blue Curaçao! We first considered Rhine water, but the liqueur is simply better in color and taste!”
Warriors Of The Sea will be released on October 24, on Doro’s own label, Rare Diamonds Production, distributed by Edel. Besides the strictly limited liquid-filled vinyl version, it’s also available as CD digipak and picture disc vinyl.
The idea for this special release emerged following two sold-out Metal Queen Metal Cruises that were a huge success with fans in late May and early June. Along with a third cruise scheduled for June 6, 2026, these events created demand for more music.
The brand-new video for Doro’s single, “Warriors Of The Sea”, can be viewed below. The epic clip was directed by Peter Leukhardt, who captures the Metal Queen in action during the Metal Queen Metal Cruise 2025, among other striking settings.
“With ‘Warriors of the Sea,’ I wanted to create an anthem that goes straight to the heart,” explains Doro. “It’s a song that brings joy — on land and at sea, especially on one of the many metal cruises — and expresses a strong sense of unity.”

At the same time, his parents raised him on a healthy diet of '60s British rock 'n' roll, from THE WHO to THE KINKS. Once he moved to Laurel Canyon, Slash found himself surrounded by rock and folk singers like Joni Mitchell, CROSBY, STILLS & NASH and Neil Young — all of whom eventually inspired his playing and songwriting. AEROSMITH And YUNGBLUD Announce Collaborative EP 'One More Time'
AEROSMITH's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry have announced a collaborative new EP with British singer, songwriter and musician Yungblud, whose real name is Dominic Richard Harrison.
The five-track effort, titled "One More Time", will be out on November 21 and will be preceded by a brand new single, "My Only Angel", out this Friday, September 19.
"One More Time" track listing:
01. My Only Angel
02. Problems
03. Wild Woman
04. A Thousand Days
05. Back In The Saddle (2025 mix)
A short preview of "My Only Angel" is available below.
Tyler, Perry and Yungblud previously came together on September 7 for a performance honoring the legendary Ozzy Osbourne with a medley of his greatest hits at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.
Yungblud kicked off the tribute with Osbourne's "Crazy Train" before slowing things down with a cover of BLACK SABBATH's "Changes". Tyler then took the stage to sing Osbourne's hit ballad "Mama, I'm Coming Home", accompanied by Perry on guitar. Yungblud returned to the mic to duet with Tyler on the tune, which ended with pyrotechnics and Yungblud shouting into the microphone, "Ozzy forever!"
After the performance, both AEROSMITH and Yungblud shared a brief clip of Tyler and Yungblud embracing, with Steven saying cheekily, "We've got a secret!"
At the July 5 "Back To The Beginning" concert, Yungblud sang a version of "Changes", backed by EXTREME's Nuno Bettencourt on guitar, ANTHRAX's Frank Bello on bass, SLEEP TOKEN's II on drums and BLACK SABBATH/OZZY OSBOURNE touring keyboardist Adam Wakeman on keys. The original version of "Changes" appeared on SABBATH's fourth album, "Vol. 4", released in 1972.
Born in Yorkshire, Harrison first picked up a guitar at age two and began writing his own songs when he was ten. At 16 he moved to London, then spent the next few years struggling to define his musical vision. But after reconnecting with the firebrand artists that first compelled him to make music — THE CLASH, ARCTIC MONKEYS, N.W.A. — he felt unstoppably inspired. That inspiration lead to the eventual release of his 2017 debut, "King Charles". Since then, Yungblud has created his own blend of alternative rock: poetry, guitar-hooks and break-beats with a fierce determination to make a dent in pop culture.

See Trailer For OZZY OSBOURNE Documentary 'No Escape From Now'
Paramount+ has released a trailer for its previously announced documentary about Ozzy Osbourne ahead of an October 7 premiere in the U.S. and internationally, excluding Japan. The feature-length project, titled "Ozzy: No Escape From Now", will "reveal the devastating setbacks" the iconic singer had "faced since his fateful fall in 2019," according to a press release.
Directed by BAFTA winner Tania Alexander ("Gogglebox"),the doc began filming in 2022 during the sessions for Osbourne's 13th album "Patient Number 9" and continued through what the 76-year-British-born musician's final performance with BLACK SABBATH in his original hometown of Birmingham, England on July 5.
"I used to take pills for fun. Now I take them to stay alive," Ozzy, who died from a heart attack on July 22, says at one point in the trailer, which shows footage of Osbourne recording the title track for "Patient Number 9".
A few days after Ozzy's death, Tania and Phil Alexander, the creative team behind "Ozzy: No Escape From Now", told Rolling Stone in a statement: "We are truly heartbroken to hear the news of Ozzy's passing. Filming with him, Sharon, Aimee, Kelly and Jack for the last three and a half years will always be a cherished and remarkable experience — largely because we got to regularly witness Ozzy's indomitable spirit, his mischievous, irresistible grin and his masterful display of unique one-liners. We will always love you, dear Oz. And we send love and strength to Sharon and her family."
The documentary is being produced by U.K. production house Echo Velvet in partnership with the Osbournes and MTV Entertainment Studios. Gillmer and Amanda Culkowski are executive producing the project for MTV Entertainment Studios alongside Phil Alexander for Echo Velvet and Sharon Osbourne for Sharon Osbourne Management.
"Ozzy: No Escape From Now" will feature interviews with Sharon and the couple's children as well as Tony Iommi (BLACK SABBATH),Duff McKagan (GUNS N' ROSES),Robert Trujillo (METALLICA),Billy Idol, Maynard James Keenan (TOOL),Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS),Zakk Wylde, producer Andrew Watt and friend/musician Billy Morrison.
"The last six years have been full of some of the worst times I've been through. There's been times when I thought my number was up," Ozzy Osbourne said in a statement when "Ozzy: No Escape From Now" was first announced in February. "But making music and making two albums saved me. I'd have gone nuts without music."
He added: "My fans have supported me for so many years, and I really want to thank them and say a proper goodbye to them. That is what the Villa Park show is about."
"This film is an honest account of what has happened to Ozzy during the last few years. It shows how hard things have been for him and the courage he has shown while dealing with a number of serious health issues, including Parkinson's," Ozzy's wife and manager Sharon Osbourne added. "It's about the reality of his life now. We have worked with a production team we trust and have allowed them the freedom to tell the story openly. We hope that story will inspire people that are facing similar issues to Ozzy."
"This is Ozzy Osbourne like you've never seen before: an honest, warm and deeply personal portrait of one of the greatest rock stars of all time, detailing how the singer's world shuddered to a halt six years ago, forcing him to contemplate who he really is, confront his own mortality and question whether or not he can ever perform on stage for one last time," the documentary's logline reads. "Addressing his health issues and impact of his Parkinson's diagnosis, the film showcases the central role music continues to play in Ozzy's life — also proving his mischievous sense of humor remains resolutely intact despite it all."
"Given our storied past with Ozzy, Sharon and the whole family, we were determined to land this project and look forward to sharing it with his legions of fans and global audiences on Paramount+ later this year," Bruce Gillmer, president of Music, Music Talent, Programming & Events for Paramount as well as chief content officer of Music for Paramount+, said in a statement. | +4

Watch: NILE Performs In Leesburg With New Bassist/Vocalist ADAM ROETHLISBERGER
American death metal icons NILE played their third concert with their new bassist/vocalist Adam Roethlisberger on September 14 at Tally Ho Theater in Leesburg, Virginia. Fan-filmed video of the show can be seen below.
Roethlisberger made his live debut with NILE on September 12 at the opening show of the band's U.S. tour with Canadian extreme metallers CRYPTOPSY in Raleigh, North Carolina. Support on the 25-date trek of the East Coast, Midwest and Pacific Northwest is coming from THE LAST TEN SECONDS OF LIFE and COGNITIVE.
On September 12, NILE guitarist/vocalist Karl Sanders shared the following statement via social media: "Announcement time! We're very happy to welcome Adam Roethlisberger to NILE on bass and vocals. Adam has already put in an incredible amount of work, proving himself not only as a fierce player but also as a great teammate fully up to the challenge.
"We're sounding more powerful and heavier than ever, and we can't wait to unleash it for you on tour."
Roethlisberger added in a separate statement: "What an honor it is to play with the legends. NILE has carved a path so deep in the extreme metal world and I'm proud to do my part to help elevate this band to new heights."
Dan Vadim Von announced his departure from NILE on August 20, writing on his Instagram: "Decided to leave NILE to concentrate on other commitments. Thanks to all who attended the shows during my tenure as frontman, you were the best part of it. Working on new material for 2026. Stay metal."
Roethlisberger was a member of VITRIOL for over a decade, but exited the band last fall, reportedly due to a "long and difficult working relationship" with VITRIOL guitarist-vocalist Kyle Rasmussen.
NILE's tenth album, "The Underworld Awaits Us All", came out in August 2024 via Napalm Records. The LP was recorded with the lineup of NILE founding mastermind/guitarist Karl Sanders, longtime drum master George Kollias, vocalist/guitarists Brian Kingsland and Zach Jeter, and bassist Dan Vadim Von.
"The Underworld Awaits Us All" was once again produced and recorded at Sanders's own Serpent Headed Studios in Greenville, South Carolina. NILE returned to "Vile Nilotic Rites" engineer Mark Lewis (CANNIBAL CORPSE, DYING FETUS, WHITECHAPEL) for mixing and mastering.
"The Underworld Awaits Us All"'s art was once again envisioned and created by Michał "Xaay" Loranc, with reference to the cycle of life and judgment at its end. | +1

Watch: CANNIBAL CORPSE Performs With Ex-THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER Guitarist BRANDON ELLIS For First Time
Brandon Ellis is standing in for CANNIBAL CORPSE guitarist Rob Barrett on the Florida death metal veterans' U.S. tour this summer/fall. The trek, featuring support from MUNICIPAL WASTE, FULL OF HELL and FULCI, kicked off on September 15 in Nashville, Tennessee and will conclude on October 22 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Fan-filmed video of the Nashville concert at the Marathon Music Works can be seen below.
On September 2, Ellis shared the following message via his social media: "I will be playing guitar with CANNIBAL CORPSE this fall, standing in for Rob Barrett. I'm honored to help out and put on a killer death metal show for you all. See you there!"
Ellis announced his departure from THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER in February.
Brandon, who made his name in fellow American death metallers ARSIS before replacing Ryan Knight in THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER in 2016, contributed to three albums during his near-decade stint in the latter group. Two of those featured the band's original vocalist Trevor Strnad, who passed in 2022.
CANNIBAL CORPSE's sixteenth studio album, "Chaos Horrific", was released in September 2023 via Metal Blade Records.
Since 1988, CANNIBAL CORPSE have been at the forefront of death metal, shaping and defining the genre. In 2021, they raised the stakes again with "Violence Unimagined". And in 2023, the band's thirty-fifth anniversary, they returned with its successor, the equally monstrous "Chaos Horrific", starting a new chapter in their storied legacy.
CANNIBAL CORPSE guitarist/producer Erik Rutan has now helmed six of the band's albums, starting with 2006's "Kill". This is Rutan's second release as a full-fledged member, since officially joining in 2020.
"Chaos Horrific" was recorded at Rutan's Mana Studio in Florida. | 0

PAPA ROACH And CARRIE UNDERWOOD Hit Gold With Their Powerful Collaboration 'Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark)'
California rockers PAPA ROACH and country-pop superstar Carrie Underwood have officially gone gold with their collaboration "Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark)", as certified by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association Of America). The announcement fittingly came on World Suicide Prevention Day.
PAPA ROACH was joined by Underwood on stage during the band's April 5, 2025 concert at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada for performances of the band's songs "Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark)" and "Last Resort". Professionally filmed video of the "Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark)" performance has now been posted online and can be seen below.
This performance highlights PAPA ROACH's ongoing mission to shine a light on suicide prevention and mental health awareness. In partnership with the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention all royalties from the song generated by both artists will be donated to AFSP in perpetuity. The performance represents a pivotal step in the band's commitment to using music as a force for healing and change.
Last year, Underwood teamed up PAPA ROACH to record a new rendition of the latter's 2022 track "Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark)", which continued the band's mission to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental health awareness. The new version of the song was released in August 2024, with Underwood sharing in a press release that she was "honored" to work with the rock group.
"I'm such a huge fan of Jacoby [Shaddix, PAPA ROACH frontman] and PAPA ROACH and was honored to be invited to record 'Leave A Light On' with them," Underwood said. "It's a beautiful song and the message behind it and the band's mission to shine a light on suicide prevention and mental health awareness has never been more important."
Shaddix was equally complimentary about Underwood, noting in the release that he and the other members of PAPA ROACH were "humbled that Carrie was open to our mission, and hearing the power of Carrie's voice in that recording session we were blown away. Not only is her vocal ability unequaled, but the impact of her voice brings a new meaning to our cause and will help people all over the globe."
"It's an honor to have a 'Rock Star' bring life to this track with us," he added.
Asked in an August 2024 interview with On With Mario Lopez how the Underwood collaboration came about, Shaddix said: "I was listening to SiriusXM Octane and she was doing an interview on Octane with this guy Jose [Mangin], and he's like a metalhead, right? And she was talking about her love for rock and metal music, and she brought up PAPA ROACH. And somebody had texted me, she's, like, 'Did you see this interview?' And I was, like, 'Oh, snap. What's up? Carrie's a fan. That's dope.' And so we had a show in Nashville, and I invited her and her husband out to the show. She came out to the show, loved the show. The wife and I were in Vegas and we checked out one of her residencies, and we rolled after her show and we just hit it off and became friends. And then one thing leads to another, and then we had this song and we hit her up, we're, like, 'Hey, we've got this song.' And we've always envisioned it with a female vocal on it, a duet. And she was all about it. And so it was just such a cool way that it came together and organically. It wasn't set up by the powers that be. And, yeah, she's just such a great vocalist. It was awesome."
Earlier this year, during PAPA ROACH's sold-out headline show at Wembley Arena, the band presented the Campaign Against Living Miserably with a £20,000 cheque raised during their U.K. tour.
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention CEO Bob Gebbia noted that the organization is "incredibly grateful to PAPA ROACH and Carrie Underwood for their commitment to providing those struggling with their mental health information and resources that can help."
"Leave A Light On" was first performed live during PAPA ROACH's "The Revolutions Live Tour" starting in September 2023, with 250,000 attendees at 30 shows. In each city, the song was preceded by an emotional video PSA delivered by Shaddix, who pledged a donation to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) on behalf of each city’s attendees, culminating in a $155,000 donation at the end of the tour in Denver, Colorado. Following the tour, the band officially released the official video recorded on tour and subsequently renamed the single to radio as "Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark)", in conjunction with the AFSP's "Talk Away The Dark" campaign. Following the critically acclaimed tour, they pledged a perpetual royalty from the song's use, in any manner, to the AFSP, continuing their mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide long after the "Revolutions Live Tour" finished.
"We had a passion for this song from the time we finished it," Shaddix said. "When creating the set list for the final leg of the 'Ego Trip' album cycle, we really wanted to see if the live audience would connect with 'Leave A Light On' the way we did — and the best way to do that is to perform it to ten thousand fans a night! From that first show, it connected. We could see it on their faces. We instantly knew the power of this song and its ability to help 'leave a light on' for those who needed it most."
"Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark)" is taken from PAPA ROACH's tenth studio album, "Ego Trip", which came out in April 2022. The LP (produced by Colin Brittain, Nick Furlong and PAPA ROACH) also achieved three previous No. 1 singles: "Kill The Noise", "No Apologies" and "Cut The Line" featuring BEARTOOTH's Caleb Shomo.

BLAZE BAYLEY On His Post-Heart Attack Recovery: 'The Worst Part About It For Me Is The Diet, Trying To Keep The Weight Off'
In a new interview with Jorge Botas of Portugal's Metal Global, former IRON MAIDEN singer Blaze Bayley once again opened up about his health — two and a half years after undergoing a quadruple bypass surgery following a heart attack in March 2023. The 62-year-old singer — who fronted MAIDEN more than two and a half decades ago — said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Yeah. I'm so lucky, really. With heart disease, it's one of those things, it creeps up on you. You just feel a bit out of breath here, and things are a bit more of a struggle there, and you don't really start thinking too much about it, but it adds up over time and suddenly you're having a heart attack. It's, like, how did this happen?"
Reflecting on his heart attack, Blaze said: "The main thing, at the hospital, I'd just got in. They put you in this amazing room where they can X-ray you and look at all these things while other people are in the room and everything, and look at all. And they're looking at it and go, 'No, it's not stents. It's gonna need surgery. No, we can't do anything for you here. Put you out on the ward. You wait for the surgeon.'
"I had a quadruple bypass, and I've made a good recovery," he continued. "I had a little hiccup in my recovery because when I got well enough to exercise and it was safe to exercise, I had a knee injury, and that put me back about five months, really. But, yeah, apart from that, I've got my strength back now, and I've made a good recovery. They discovered that I did have an abnormal heart in that the left side was smaller and somehow it wasn't working the best. And so the right side had been taking up the strain. And they said, with the new plumbing, I might feel an advantage. And I do — compared to what I was before, I've got a lot more energy.
"The worst part about it for me is the diet — trying to keep the weight off," Bayley admitted. "I managed to lose a lot of weight with changing my habits and no exercise at all. I managed to lose 30 pounds with no exercise, just by eating sensible and the way that I should have been eating. Bad habits creep back, so I'm having to try again with that. But that's about it. I stopped drinking a while ago, and it was difficult in the beginning, but gradually it's less and less of a challenge over the years, and it was all right. And the diet, to try and stay healthy, it's much tougher to give up chocolate, sugar, biscuits, donuts, sausage rolls, pies — it's much tougher to give up that than to give up booze. I wasn't a raging alcoholic, but with my mental health, I'm, like, 'I've gotta stop drinking because I've drank enough. I'm old enough now. I don't really need another drink.' But then to stop eating pies and all these things — and I start feeling, 'Oh, I feel great now. My knees feel better. Everything feels better now. I've lost all this weight.' And then bit by bit, 'Oh, I'll just have that little treat.' And then, 'My God. I look just like I'm gonna have a heart attack. No!'
"That's the worst thing — it's the diet, man. It's tough. And the food industry and Big Pharma [large, multinational pharmaceutical companies] are absolutely complicit in making us fat and giving us heart disease and strokes. Absolutely. They can sue me. Because it's absolutely true.
"The healthiest time in the U.K. was in World War II when people had to have rations, so there wasn't much food," Blaze added. "[People] were [at their] healthiest — less heart attack, strokes, less illness, less obesity, less everything. And then when we had — and this is the worst thing — they say, 'Oh, the best thing since sliced bread,' is an expression. Sliced bread is the worst thing. Bread made in a factory is one of the absolute worst things for our health, and they told us, 'Oh, it's the best thing?' No, it's the worst thing. Bread should be made by bakers early in the morning, not in a factory. Anyway, that's me. I had a heart attack and I feel it's partly their fault. I didn't know white bread was poisonous."
Bayley fronted IRON MAIDEN from 1994 until 1999. The two MAIDEN albums he appeared on, "The X Factor" and "Virtual XI", sold considerably less than the band's prior releases and were their lowest-charting titles in the group's home country since 1981's "Killers".
Since leaving IRON MAIDEN in 1999, Bayley has released a number of albums, including several under the moniker BLAZE and more than a handful under his own name. He also appeared on 2012's "Wolfsbane Saves The World", the first album of new material by WOLFSBANE since the group's self-titled 1994 effort, and a follow-up LP, 2022's "Genius".
Blaze's latest studio album, "Circle Of Stone", came out in February 2024.
Two years ago, Blaze told The Metal Voice about his heart attack: "There's so many lucky things about a terrible incident in my life. I'm at home on Saturday. On the Friday, I've just signed off on what I think is probably the final mastered mix of a new album. That's on a Friday. Here I am on a Saturday. On the Monday, I'm scheduled to go on tour in Europe to continue with 'The Man Who Would Not Die' tour. And there I am, and I've got chest pains, and I think, 'Oh, is this indigestion?' I'm having a heart attack. I live two minutes from the ambulance station. I'm on the phone, and apparently the paramedics, they were going on their break towards the ambulance station and they said, 'Oh, we heard that call. It's on our way. We'll take that call.' Two minutes, they're in my house. I've got wires on my chest. 'You're having a heart attack.' I live in the city, but I'm between four hospitals. In 15 minutes I'm having treatment, and they're injecting me with dye to see what the problems are and everything. So that's it. I'm safe. I'm in hospital 15 minutes later."
Blaze continued: "They said, the paramedics, if that had been 10 minutes [later], there's no way you'd make it. So I was 10 minutes from death. I had a heart attack, not heart failure. They got to me in time. But if I'd have been somewhere else, if I'd have been in Eurotunnel, if I'd have been in a hotel room alone, or on the autobahn in Germany — anywhere, man… It's just terrifying, really, to think about where I could be. And when they said, 'Oh, you should be able to make it back,' I said, 'I've gotta get back to work. I can't leave it like this.' I've done an album called 'War Within Me', and I haven't toured the whole thing. I'm thinking of my fans and everything. I thought, 'I can't leave it like this. I've still got more music to make. I've got things to say, and I don't wanna feel like I'm letting my fans down either.' So I was so focused."
Bayley added: "It took a while — like a few weeks — before they could put me in for the surgery. It was a quadruple bypass. Basically, they cut you in half. They cut me in half, they do a load of plumbing and then they put you back together. And the guy said, 'We wired you back together with surgical steel wire.' He said, 'We've doubled wired.' I said, 'So even more metal?' Yeah, even more metal. So I've got more metal in me than a normal heart patient."
Asked what symptoms he experienced prior to suffering his heart attack, Blaze said: "It's different for everyone. And this is why it's so confusing. That's why I didn't know I was having a heart attack. My heart attack was a pain that starts — it's like someone sitting on your chest or being kicked by a horse in your chest in slow motion, and it goes from the front to the back and you're sweating and all of this. That's how it happened for me. That's common. The other thing that happens is, for some people — and I didn't have any of this — you start going numb, you start going tingly down your left arm and it spreads across you. That's another thing. And for other people, there are other symptoms. So you just don't know."
Regarding what steps other men can take toward reducing their chances of having a heart attack, Blaze said: "You've gotta try and head it off early by getting tested for your cholesterol, your triglycerides, and all of this. And just exercise is vital, and we just don't realize that. It's vital. I think chronic laziness is one of the things. You get out the van, you get on the stage, I'm active for a couple of hours, breathing all of that, hadn't been away for a while, hadn't done anything for a while. COVID, two years of not going out there all the time. And I think that a big combination of things, and some bad habits, that led up to something that was almost fatal, really."
In July 2023, Blaze shared details of the massive outpouring of well-wishes he received after his heart attack, including messages from his former MAIDEN bandmates.
"The thing I feel most lucky about is the incredible support I've had from my fans," he told BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "All over the world. My WOLFSBANE, Blaze Bayley, the MAIDEN fans. Everybody bought a t-shirt for a tour that was postponed. They still bought it to support me. I'm just incredibly lucky. And the letters people wrote to me. Hundreds of cards from all over the place. It's very humbling."
Blaze continued: "I've always put my whole life into music. It is my life. When people get in touch with you and say, 'I wish you well because your music has gotten me through tough times,' 'Your music meant this to me,' 'I first saw you way back when and it's been the soundtrack to my life,' it's incredible. I got a massive card from the MAIDEN fan club. The [MAIDEN] guys all sent me a message. I'm always in touch with Steve Harris [MAIDEN bassist] anyway, but everyone sent messages of support."
A heart bypass surgery, or coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, is used to improve blood flow to the heart. A surgeon uses blood vessels taken from another area of the body to bypass the damaged arteries.
The term quadruple bypass refers to the number of coronary arteries bypassed in the procedure. In other words, a quadruple bypass means four coronary arteries are bypassed.

CORONER Shares 'Symmetry' Single From Upcoming 'Dissonance Theory' Album
After more than three decades, Swiss pioneering technical metallers CORONER return with a new studio album: "Dissonance Theory" will be released on October 17, 2025 worldwide via Century Media Records.
The official music video for the LP's second single, "Symmetry", directed by Dariusz Szermanowicz, can be seen below.
CORONER's guitarist, songwriter and producer Tommy Vetterli (a.k.a. Tommy T. Baron) comments: "This track is about vanity, ego, and how self-obsession can be destructive. That idea shaped the way we played it too. 'Symmetry' gave us room to explore, and with the rhythmic dimension Diego [Rapacchietti, drums] brings, it pushed us further than we've gone before."
"Dissonance Theory" contains 10 new songs across 47 minutes, recorded by Tommy Vetterli at New Sound Studios in Switzerland and mixed/mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios (OPETH, KREATOR, AMON AMARTH) in Sweden. The album's cover artwork (see below) was created by Stefan Thanneur.
"Dissonance Theory" will be available as limited 2CD mediabook (with expanded booklet and the legendary "Death Cult" four-track demo from 1986, featuring Tom G. Warrior [TRIPTYKON, CELTIC FROST, HELLHAMMER] on vocals, as a bonus CD),standard CD jewelcase, digital album and LP.
Vetterli previously stated about CORONER's new music: "I thought a lot about what CORONER should sound like today, but I pretty quickly realized that looking backwards wouldn't serve us. Of course, over time you develop a certain signature as a musician. So even if the material is new, it might still feel like a bridge to earlier phases — simply because it's me writing it. That said, we didn't set out to continue a legacy. We just wanted to create something honest and grounded in the present. 'Renewal' now opens the chapter for what became the first CORONER album I'm fully satisfied with, start to finish. So we'll let the music speak for itself — you'll know if it speaks to you."
"Dissonance Theory" track listing:
01. Oxymoron
02. Consequence
03. Sacrificial Lamb
04. Crisium Bound
05. Symmetry
06. The Law
07. Transparent Eye
08. Trinity
09. Renewal
10. Prolonging
When Swiss metal pioneers CORONER disbanded in 1996, they left a trail of deeply inspirational and influential albums. From the classically tinged 1987 "R.I.P." debut and its follow-up one year later, "Punishment For Decadence", to the sleek modernisms of 1993's "Grin", their discography is a clinic in performance acumen and how to balance grace with grit and grime. In a word, they were the true definition of "progressive" music: Always laser-focused with a firm direction, CORONER never let themselves be bound by genre convention.
Ever the forward thinkers, ever the seekers of unique expression, CORONER's main material never traded heaviness for innovation. They were a rare band that merged both in a way that was never forced or too consciously conflated. And yet we can't forget the bolder moves along the way: The haunting closer of 1989's "No More Color", "Last Entertainment (T.V. Bizarre)" and THE BEATLES cover on 1991's "Mental Vortex". These might have seemed unlikely choices on paper, but they actually worked brilliantly, lending great depth to their respective albums. There was nobody like CORONER. And the bar of expectation they set, they set very high.
With all that as part of historical record, it would seem that expectations for a new CORONER album would be impossibly high. But take one listen and you understand that it's not hyperbolic, nor cliché, to say that with 2025's "Dissonance Theory", CORONER have met and even exceeded expectation. The material, as all the best CORONER does, hangs somewhere between stealthy restraint and wild abandon.
When the band returned to the stage in 2011, with original trio formation Tommy Vetterli, Ron Broder and Marky Edelmann, new material wasn't even a consideration. For them, they were simply happy to revive all that much-loved material and present it to old fans, as well as younger ones who weren't around to experience CORONERlive the first time around. Indeed, they are another of metal's finest bands that gained more popularity after the initial breakup than during their era of actual operation.
A couple years after their revival, Edelmann bowed out, although Vetterli and Broder kept the machine running because, in the guitarist's words, "we were having way too much fun". Still, they had no intentions of recording new material with freshly installed drummer Diego Rapacchietti. But by 2015, seeds of fresh CORONERideas, tiny as they were, began sprouting from Vetterli's fertile mind. Ten years later, with a new album completed, the six-stringer explains the long gestation of "Dissonance Theory": "I started sketching ideas around 2015, but never found the mental space to focus fully. Life kept getting in the way — short bursts of progress, then long interruptions. Running my own recording studio means I 'm constantly producing other bands while managing the studio's demands. After nine-hour days recording or mixing, there's not much creative energy left at night. The actual recording sessions didn't kick off until June 2023 — and even those got interrupted multiple times for the same reasons."
While Vetterli avoids mentioning particular musical artists, bands or movements as inspiration for the new material, he astutely notes, "Inspiration is just life, really. Everything you see, hear, or feel leaves a trace — music, films, books, the state of the world, personal stuff. Sometimes it's something big. Sometimes it's just a tree standing alone on a hill somewhere. That can be enough. It's never about specific bands or styles — more about what hits you at the right moment."
It was also the presence of Rapacchietti that fueled Vetterli and Broder's constructions as new material came together. "Diego brings a level of technical precision and musicality that opened up entirely new dimensions in our songwriting," says Vetterli. "His versatility allowed us to explore fresh territory without losing ourselves. Especially rhythmically, we were able to push things further than ever before."
The album's first tracks establish that the CORONER sound is intact, even 30 years after their initial run. In tone and texture, "Consequence" and "Sacrificial Lamb" are not terribly far away from the band's early '90s material. These offerings unite the focused hypno-drone of "Grin" with the clean-kill post-thrash technicality of "Mental Vortex". Yet that's only an approximation of where the album sits in the sonic space. It's after these that the scope widens. Ultimately, "Dissonance Theory" claims its own ground, sounding like an album that could've been released in the late 1990s, but one clearly informed by the variety of inspirations noted above and the many years lived between then and now.
It seems impossible after all the time elapsed, but this is CORONER at its best. We hear evidence of this on songs such as "Crisium Bound", with its spacious dark pulse, and "Symmetry", which is driven by drummer Rapacchietti's colorful backing over one of the most exciting guitar solos Tommy Vetterli has ever composed. Broder's bass lines are as commanding as ever throughout, and his arrogant snarl remains packed with bile and spite, as if 30 years had never passed. Sumptuous passages in "Transparent Eye" recall the atmospheric material the band were working on before their initial breakup, but merged with a stabbing momentum and a few tricky rhythms. A modern-day classic CORONER song.
Perhaps this all comes off so well because the band didn't overthink anything. They understand the pressure of coming back with their first material in three decades, but they shook off that pressure and simply let CORONER be CORONER. As Vetterli notes, "I thought a lot about what CORONER should sound like today — but I pretty quickly realized that looking backwards wouldn't serve us. What's past is past. So much time has passed, and we're not the same people. Just like we didn't care about trends back then, we didn't try to make this record for anyone but ourselves. We weren't trying to continue a legacy — we were just trying to create something honest and present."
Further into the album, it becomes ever more apparent that their approach was the right one. "Trinity" shows Vetterli as the hugely underrated guitarist he's always been: Its solo section is one that probably couldn't have even been conceived of 30 years ago. It's imbued with a kind of wisdom and experience that expresses itself in interesting melodic choices and wild fingerwork, brilliant melodic sparks flying from his instrument.
As we approach the culmination of the album, the well-titled "Renewal" is ablaze with energy, its vigorous pulse a statement of intent for this era of return. And in final track, "Prolonging", we get another brave album conclusion from the band, featuring Hammond organ over beguiling, hypnotic metal drama, as Broder spits out a final question: "What remains? What remains?"
"Dissonance Theory", in totality, is rich in sonic detail, a stereophile's delight. Part of that can be attributed to the expert mixing/mastering by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden. But the production, arrangement and soundscape details are largely the work of Vetterli and a longtime creative partner at his own New Sound studio. Vetterli notes, "At some point, I felt something was missing — a kind of creative counterweight. Someone to reflect things back with a fresh, critical ear. That's when I brought in a longtime collaborator I've worked with for years at my studio. He helped push things into new territory and gave me the clarity and momentum "Dissonance Theory" needed to move forward. We made a point throughout the production to record as many authentic, organic sounds as possible. The studio was packed with tube amps, analog synths, and vintage instruments — including a harmonium and a grand piano — and we put them all to good use. We've worked together on many other productions, so the trust was already there. We get into that whole collaboration — and how it evolved — more deeply in the CD mediabook edition."
CORONER are offering a work that proves they know themselves and what their band should sound like. No CORONER fan could possibly be disappointed in "Dissonance Theory". It's like a massive bonus from a band we all thought had spent their creative energies decades ago. "They don't make albums like this anymore". Ever heard that one? CORONER proves they were not only always in metal's top tier, but that anything less than a ferocious return such as this would never have been the CORONER way.
CORONER 2025 is:

ARCH ENEMY Announces 'Blood Dynasty (Deluxe Edition)', Including Three Bonus Tracks
Swedish/Canadian/American extreme metal titans ARCH ENEMY have released the official lyric video for the song "Break The Spell". The clip, which was produced by David Provan at 12Inch Media, can be seen below.
ARCH ENEMY comments, "'Break The Spell' is a raw, introspective journey through despair and resilience. It confronts mortality, fear, and emotional collapse — yet refuses to surrender. Haunting and defiant, it transforms pain into empowerment, offering strength to anyone fighting through dark times."
Arriving ahead of ARCH ENEMY's massive European tour and the release of a digital deluxe edition of the band's acclaimed album "Blood Dynasty", this anthem is a battle cry for survival and renewal.
ARCH ENEMY's twelfth studio album, "Blood Dynasty", was originally released in March of this year via Century Media Records. The "Blood Dynasty (Deluxe Edition)" will be out October 10, and it comes with three bonus tracks, one of which, "Lachrymatory", is previously unreleased.
Upon the release of "Blood Dynasty (Deluxe Edition)", ARCH ENEMY will embark on a European headlining tour with support from AMORPHIS, ELUVEITIE and GATECREEPER.
"Blood Dynasty (Deluxe Edition)" track listing:
01. Dream Stealer
02. Illuminate The Path
03. March Of The Miscreants
04. A Million Suns
05. Don't Look Down
06. Presage
07. Blood Dynasty
08. Paper Tiger
09. Vivre Libre
10. The Pendulum
11. Liars & Thieves
Bonus tracks:
12. Break The Spell
13. Moths
14. Lachrymatory (previously unreleased)
ARCH ENEMY founder and guitarist Michael Amott previously stated about "Blood Dynasty": "This new album pushes the boundaries of what we've done before — it's everything you've come to expect from this band, and then some."
Regarding his creative process, Amott told Full Metal Jackie's nationally syndicated radio show: "To be honest, I don't listen to a lot of music in those times when I'm creating new music, when I'm in that phase of writing, which I am kind of every day, actually. So I don't really listen to a lot of music during the day. I never have background music on. I'm just kind of listening to what's going on inside my head. Those crazy voices? No, but just listening out for melodies or ideas or little lyric ideas that will come to me when I'm not listening to music. If you're constantly bombarding yourself with impressions, I think it's difficult to come up with something. So I just play a lot of guitar. I wake up, I have coffee, I play guitar every day for a couple of hours. And so it really starts there. And then, of course I still listen to music. I listen to a lot of music, but that's more in the evening time for me."
ARCH ENEMY played its first concert with new guitarist Joey Concepcion on April 24, 2024 at Musinsa Garage in Seoul, South Korea. The show was part of ARCH ENEMY's 2024 Asian tour.
In December 2023, ARCH ENEMY announced that it had "amicably" parted ways with longtime guitarist Jeff Loomis.
Jeff, who was the main songwriter in his previous group, NEVERMORE, joined ARCH ENEMY in late 2014, but was not involved in the writing for the latter act's previous two albums, 2017's "Will To Power" and 2022's "Deceivers".
