TRIPTYKON Announces 'Melana Chasmata' Special Limited-Edition Box Set

TRIPTYKON — the occult/avant-garde metal project formed by former HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST singer, guitarist, and main songwriter Tom Gabriel Fischer (a.k.a. Tom Gabriel Warrior) — and Century Media Records/Prowling Death Records have announced a special limited-edition box set of the band's second album, "Melana Chasmata", containing the album's main Mediabook CD edition as well as a selection of unique TRIPTYKON paraphernalia. The "Melana Chasmata" Mediabook features a 32-page booklet and an additional 12-panel fold-out cross-booklet; the paraphernalia comprises a silver TRIPTYKON "T" necklace, 2 specially manufactured TRIPTYKON candles, a TRIPTYKON tote bag, a poster, and 3 postcards.
The box set will be limited to 2000 copies worldwide.

Says Fischer: "Some time ago, I voiced my personal disapproval regarding the original concept for the planned TRIPTYKON 'Melana Chasmata' box set as scheduled for release by our licensing partner, Century Media Records. It is to Century Media Records' credit that they listened and subsequently approached me to address my misgivings and create a box set that represents the group's ideas and intentions far more comprehensively. I am grateful for such an open and creative collaboration, and I deeply respect Century Media Records for sparing neither effort nor expenditure to please TRIPTYKON and the band's audience. I wish record labels would have acted like this in the 1980s."

"Melana Chasmata" will be released on April 15 (one day earlier internationally). The CD will be made available through a collaboration between TRIPTYKON's own label, Prowling Death Records Ltd., and renowned metal giant Century Media Records. This is the same label partnership already responsible for CELTIC FROST's final album, "Monotheist" (2006), HELLHAMMER's "Demon Entrails" demo compendium (2008), and TRIPTYKON's debut album, "Eparistera Daimones", and "Shatter" EP (2010).

Like its predecessor "Eparistera Daimones", the album was produced by TRIPTYKON's singer/guitarist Tom Gabriel Warrior and guitarist V. Santura and recorded and mixed at V. Santura's own Woodshed Studio in southern Germany as well as at TRIPTYKON's rehearsal facilities in Zurich, Switzerland, in 2013 and 2014. Those who have already heard "Melana Chasmata" have described it as "atmospheric, dark, diabolical, and dramatic", "diverse, epic, and doomy, but on an entirely different level", "a fierce boulder of abhorrence", or "very heavy and yet very aesthetic at the same time".

"Melana Chasmata" will feature the following nine songs, at a playing time of around 67 minutes:

01. Tree Of Suffocating Souls
02. Boleskine House
03. Altar Of Deceit
04. Breathing
05. Aurorae
06. Demon Pact
07. In The Sleep Of Death
08. Black Snow
09. Waiting

To commemorate the unveiling of "Melana Chasmata", Century Media has released a collector's gatefold seven-inch vinyl single, featuring the songs "Breathing" and "Boleskine House". The single was made available on March 17, and be limited to a pressing 1000 (of which 200 will be in red vinyl). "Breathing" and "Boleskine House" are also available as a digital single (including the option for a digital booklet), and they are now being streamed via the YouTube clips below.

The official listening and release party for "Melana Chasmata" will be held on Friday, April 11 at 10:00 p.m. at Duff's Brooklyn in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

The address is:

Duff's Brooklyn
168 Marcy Avenue (between S 5th & Broadway)
Williamsburg, New York

For more information, visit www.duffsbrooklyn.com.

"Melana Chasmata" will be further distinguished by featuring, for the second time for TRIPTYKON, the extraordinary art of legendary Swiss surrealist HR Giger. Following "Eparistera Daimones", the group began to make arrangements for an entirely different cover for the second album. Completely unexpectedly, HR Giger approached Tom Gabriel Warrior in October of 2011 to express his appreciation of how TRIPTYKON had used his art on the first album and to propose a continuation of the artistic collaboration. This development thus marks the first time any musical artist has worked with HR Giger on three albums (CELTIC FROST's "To Mega Therion", and TRIPTYKON's "Eparistera Daimones" and "Melana Chasmata"), and it commemorates a collaboration that has now lasted for 30 years.

"Melana Chasmata" features Giger's dramatically mysterious "Mordor VII" (work no. 283, 100 x 70 cm, acrylic on wood, 1975) as a front cover and Giger's "Landschaft XVI" ["Landscape XVI"] (work no. 209, 100 x 70 cm, acrylic on paper on wood, 1972) as gatefold art.

After a lengthy hiatus, TRIPTYKON will return to the stage this year to promote "Melana Chasmata". Among the concerts so far scheduled are appearances at the celebrated Roadburn festival, at Rock Hard festival, and, pending the issuance of the proper visas by U.S. authorities, TRIPTYKON's return to the United States for an exclusive appearance at Maryland Deathfest.

TRIPTYKON consists of V. Santura (guitar, vocals), Norman Lonhard (drums, percussion), Vanja Slajh (bass, vocals), and Tom Gabriel Warrior (voice, guitars).

PAUL STANLEY Still Slamming ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME

Just because KISS will finally be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame next month doesn't mean that Paul Stanley isn't still offended that the band had to wait a humiliating 14 years to gain entry. According to The Pulse Of Radio, Stanley, who'll be inducted with Gene Simmons and estranged guitarist Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss, told the Associated Press that he's upset that only the band's co-founders and not current and other key members of KISS will be getting the nod on April 10, explaining, "In the GRATEFUL DEAD's case, (they) also inducted a writer who never played an instrument. Or they've inducted rap artists, or they've inducted people who have been in the band for seven years as opposed to. . . 25 years or 20 years — whatever their criteria of this week is."

Frehley left KISS after the band's 2002 "Farewell Tour" dates, saying afterwards that he took the word "farewell" seriously. Peter Criss has claimed that his contract with KISS wasn't renewed in March 2004. Both charges have been disputed by Stanley and Simmons. Paul Stanley says that the powers that be at the Rock Hall "tried to strong-arm us into playing in original lineup… Their craving of nostalgia or for wanting to have us play by their rules in many ways jeopardizes what we have spent 40 years building.

"I've been there since the beginning, and when I put on my KISS gear, I do it with great pride, and anything that may jeopardize that by going out with a lineup that I might question is a nonstarter for me."

Stanley went on to explain why current KISS members — guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer, both of whom dress as Criss and Frehley's respective alter egos, "The Spaceman" and "The Catman" — should be inducted, saying that they "have been in the band for decades and played on multi-platinum albums and toured the world."

Stanley admitted to The Pulse Of Radio that his contempt for the Rock Hall — which is based on the Rock Hall's apparent contempt for KISS — has been brewing for quite some time now. “It starts decades ago, it starts years ago that it's 14 years on and we're getting into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is a clear indication that the people who hide behind that moniker don't like us," he said. "And it clearly reached a point where it was so absurd and ludicrous that they caved. The part is, as I've said before that I'm most proud of, is the same criteria that kept us out is now getting us in — we didn't change. But, when I feel that we're being treated unfairly and that the rules, clearly, are no rules, 'cause they don't apply to everybody, and the criteria for how and who gets in based entirely on a personal like or dislike, I have issues with that."

RPWL - New Album Title Track Streaming

German art/prog rock band RPWL will release their new album, Wanted, in North America on April 1st via Gentle Art of Music/E1. The album's title track is streaming below:

'Wanted':
RPWL was recently confronted with a rather difficult question: how do you follow up a both epic as well as celebrated album as was the Nietzsche-themed Beyond Man And Time? Here's the answer: you tackle the really, really huge topic on your new record Wanted - the ultimate liberation of the spirit.

But... how does an idea like that spring to the minds of an art rock band in the first place?

RPWL tell of the hero of two worlds, Giuseppe Garibaldi who, being a tremendous admirer of the Greek antiquity became aware of a scroll of Plato's in which he analyzes the work of Hippocrates. It can be read in Garibaldi's diaries that Hippocrates had in fact found the formula for a medicine that leads the spirit into a real and absolute world, free of all illusion and invisible ghost worlds. The question, however, that inevitable arises at that point is the following: is the human race ready for what Plato called the "gift of absolute freedom?"

It lies in the artistic fearlessness of RPWL that the band is not afraid of transferring that complex question to the world of today: is modern man, being the evolutionary creature that he is, ready for absolute freedom? To explore that, these Bavarians have established a back-story full of fantasy. In it RPWL and their friends aim at granting the world access to the product of the secret formula - disguised as a homeopathic drug against mental fatigue that goes by the name of "Veritas Forte." Considering the true intention of the operation the fact that the wrath of the churches of the world religions is unleashed at the band rather sooner than later is understood. And so, consequently, they are forced to go underground. That, however, is where RPWL continues to organize ultimate liberation from all oppression through the machineries of illusion run by religions and sects. RPWL are Wanted.

The action of Wanted starts several days before the great day: Plato's Day. The enemy's fear is ever growing, as, after all nobody knows at what point the mirages and illusions are eradicated from people's minds once and for all. In the course of the record RPWL shift through ten varied songs full of breathtaking soundscapes and tell a compelling story of courage, doubt, bravery, the unconditional desire to never give in and, ultimately, the belief in what is right.

By making a philosophy that is new and to a degree unique the subject of the concept of Wanted, RPWL bring the principle of the concept album to a new level. That is how this gigantic piece of art evolves into a true explosion of creativity. Furthermore the intellectual firepower of the content is in every way matched by the artistic and emotional depth of the music. More than ever a sharp artistic edge and the hunger for discovery is what drives this record forward. Despite more than fifteen years in the scene, Yogi Lang (vocals, keyboard), Kalle Wallner (guitar), Marc Turiaux (drums), Markus Jehle (keyboard, piano) and Werner Taus (bass) brilliantly avoid playing it safe.

The masterpiece that is Wanted will also be released as double vinyl as well as a limited edition in additional 5.1-surround-sound. Yes, Wanted is a gamble - and boy does that gamble pay off.
Wanted tracklisting:

'Revelation'
'Swords And Guns'
'A Short Cut Line'
'Wanted'
'Hide And Seek'
'Disbelief'
'Misguided Thought'
'Perfect Day'
'The Attack'
'A New Dawn'

INFESTUS To Release The Reflecting Void Album; Artwork, Tracklisting Revealed

Debemur Morti Productions will release INFESTUS' new opus, The Reflecting Void, on April 25th (May 13th in North America) on CD, vinyl and digital download versions.
What better way to introduce you to The Reflecting Void than a few words from the maestro, Andras: "The Reflecting Void. A daring glimpse behind the mirror-like emptiness of the mind that only serves one purpose: to hide what lies underneath. A mental barrier unconsciously created by the existential need to burry unbearable emotions and experiences that corrode the “soul”. But to burry is not to delete. The cancer of the mind dwells hidden under this cloak of void. And while constantly flourishing, the light of life fades into an indistinguishable grey haze, “decolorizing” the view and encircling your existence. You may be able to reflect the darkness within and to a certain degree process it. But you will never leave behind the things that defined and changed you. Catharsis is an illusion."
Tracklisting:

'A Dying Dream'
'Spiegel der Seele'
'Constant Soul Corrosion'
'Hyperion Under Glass'
'Fractal Rise Of The FallFiligree'
'Inner Reflexion'
'Devouring Darkness'
'Origin'

INCANTATION Completes Work On 'Dirges Of Elysium'

U.S. death metal veterans INCANTATION will release their new album, "Dirges Of Elysium", in late May via Listenable Records.

Comments the band: "Elysium. Sky burial, necromancy, a cult in ancient Prussia, and pure blasphemy all await those who will hear the new release.

"The music is diverse and holds more aggression then our previous, alongside with more doom hymns heard at a demonic funeral!

"As each and every record gets better by date, this by far surpasses any past materials!!

"Hell awaits in the ashes of Elysium!!"

INCANTATION earlier in the month announced the departure of guitarist Alex Bouks, who joined the band in 2007. Filling in for him during the touring cycle for "Dirges Of Elysium" will be former INCANTATION guitarist Sonny Lombardozzi.

Says INCANTATION: "We have been friends with Sonny for quite some time and he has also played with INCANTATION as far back as the early 2000s during the 'Blasphemy' era. We really feel he understands the style of the band and that he will execute the songs in a very honorable way.

"It's great to welcome back an old friend into the fold!"

INCANTATION's latest album, "Vanquish In Vengeance", was released on Listenable Records. The effort was also made available in a limited-edition box featuring a flag and an exclusive metal pin.

Although based in Pennsylvania, INCANTATION has enjoyed a 25-year musical career as one of the leaders the New York death metal scene along with SUFFOCATION, IMMOLATION and MORTICIAN.

INCANTATION and Listenable Records' working relationship previously resulted in "Decimate Christendom" (2004) and "Primordial Domination" (2006) albums.

STEEL PROPHET: 'Omniscient' Cover Artwork Unveiled

American metallers STEEL PROPHET will release their long-awaited new album, "Omniscient", at the end of June / beginning of July on limited-edition digibook CD, standard CD, limited-edition double LP and digital formats via Cruz Del Sur Music. The effort's spectacular artwork was specifically created for "Omniscient" by German artist Timo Würz and represents one of the central themes of the album: "The Tree of Knowledge." "Omniscient" is a concept album based on an original story written by lead guitarist and founding member Steve Kachinsky Blakmoor, and "The Tree of Knowledge" displayed on the cover represents a very important "character" in the plot. Following Blackmoor's suggestions, Würz has also created 12 additional, original panels that will guide the listener through the whole story. Blackmoor says: "It was great to work with Timo. His sense of form, color and space are impeccable. He has great imagination, and his familiarity with the concepts we wanted to work with made it a perfect fit in bringing the story ideas to life."

STEEL PROPHET needs no introduction to the heavy metal world: with a long history, the band is particularly known for the technical and versatile guitar work of founding member Steve Kachinsky Blakmoor. And let's not forget the soaring vocals of Rick Mythiasin, who has returned to sing with STEEL PROPHET for the first time since 2002's "Unseen" album.

"Omniscient" is a conceptual, science-fiction-themed album, with a heavy dose of unusual philosophies and ideas, that will appeal to all fans of STEEL PROPHET's early works, especially the "Dark Hallucinations" period. This new album will have a visually outstanding package that will read like a graphic novel to highlight the story that underlines the music.

Audio Premiere: KROKUS' 'Screaming In The Night' From 'Long Stick Goes Boom: Live From Da House Of Rust'

In the last four decades, Swiss hard rock legends KROKUS have played over 2,000 shows across 5 continents. Every gig, every place and every crowd was different but all showed tremendous enthusiasm towards the band. KROKUS recorded 20 shows for release consideration, eventually deciding on their last sold-out show, recorded in their hometown at the House Of Rust on August 30, 2013. "Long Stick Goes Boom Live: From Da House Of Rust" will be released in North America on April 22 via The End Records.

An ecstatic audience and a killer location, for KROKUS it was a truly memorable moment - it was the night where Krok 'n' Roll came back to town — to Rockcity Solothurn where it all started in 1975.

"We're extremely happy to share this moment with all of you. This proves that there is still a place for the eternal flame of rock 'n' roll — our medicine of life," the band says in a statement. "A hell of a big 'Thank You' for your constant support and appreciation. This is the fuel we need to go the extra mile. Enjoy and spread the word!"

He escapes and makes it back home but soon returns with his whole clan to rescue their beloved ones who are still being held captive. They deliver a successful surprise attack but his woman is murdered in the turmoil!"

Adds KROKUS bassist, founder and producer Chris Von Rohr: "This is the all time ballad of KROKUS with a 'Conan The Barbarian' touch! We were one of the first of the MTV video generation and that video was played regularly. Greatest hit in the USA by far!"

PANTERA's Live Recording Of 'Strength Beyond Strength' From 1994 (Audio)

PANTERA reached a major milestone in 1994 when the legendary metal band's seventh studio album, "Far Beyond Driven", debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200, becoming the fastest-selling album of the group's career and its second consecutive platinum release. Not only a commercial success, the album also earned positive reviews around the world for the beautiful brutality of its all-out sonic assault.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of that landmark album and Rhino is celebrating with a special two-disc version that includes a newly remastered version of the album, along with a live performance from the 1994 Monsters Of Rock festival. "Far Beyond Driven: 20th Anniversary Edition" will be available on March 25 for a suggested list price of $18.98. A digital version will also be available.

Following the breakthrough success of 1992's "Vulgar Display Of Power" — which has since been certified double platinum — singer Philip Anselmo, guitarist Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott, bassist Rex Brown and drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott returned in March 1994 with "Far Beyond Driven". Following its No. 1 debut, "Far Beyond Driven" remained on the Billboard album chart for seven more months and many still regard it as the heaviest album to ever top the chart. Its 12 tracks represented a continuation of the previous album's relentless musical onslaught with hard-hitting tracks like the first single "I'm Broken" as well as the mosh-pit classics "5 Minutes Alone" and "Slaughtered". Another standout track was the group's swirling acoustic cover of BLACK SABBATH's "Planet Caravan", which became a live favorite when PANTERA hit the road to support the album later that year.

Fans already familiar with "Far Beyond Driven" are in for a treat with the second disc of the "20th Anniversary Edition". Dubbed "Far Beyond Bootleg - Live From Donington '94", the disc contains PANTERA full live set recorded at the Monsters Of Rock festival in Donington, England on June 4, 1994. The 40-minute show comprises nine tracks taken from the band's three most recent albums including: "Use My Third Arm" and "Strength Beyond Strength" from "Far Beyond Driven"; "Walk", "Mouth For War" and "This Love" off "Vulgar Display Of Power"; plus the title track from "Cowboys From Hell" as well as the live staple melding "Domination" and "Hollow".

"Far Beyond Driven: 20th Anniversary Edition" track listing:

Disc One - Original Album Remastered

01. Strength Beyond Strength02. Becoming03. 5 Minutes Alone04. I'm Broken05. Good Friends And A Bottle Of Pills06. Hard Lines, Sunken Cheeks07. Slaughtered08. 25 Years09. Shedding Skin10. Use My Third Arm11. Throes Of Rejection12. Planet Caravan

Disc Two - "Far Beyond Bootleg - Live From Donington '94"

01. Use My Third Arm02. Walk03. Strength Beyond Strength04. Domination/Hollow05. Slaughtered06. Fucking Hostile07. This Love08. Mouth For War09. Cowboys From Hell

The "Strength Beyond Strength" performance, taken from the "Far Beyond Bootleg - Live From Donington '94" disc, can be streamed below (courtesy of RollingStone.com).

Anselmo recently chatted about "Far Beyond Driven" with Artisan News saying, "Considering its contents, it is the heaviest record to come in at No. 1."

Anselmo went on to discuss the band's success saying, "The chemistry within PANTERA... In the early days, they were very guarded about what I said here and there. And then, finally, by 'Vulgar Display Of Power', it was, like, 'Just let me handle the lyrics.' And then by 'Far Beyond Driven', I was saying anything I fucking wanted to fucking really fucking sing about, man."

FLOTSAM AND JETSAM Parts Ways With Guitarist EDWARD CARLSON, Bassist JASON WARD

Arizona metal veterans FLOTSAM AND JETSAM have parted ways with guitarist Edward Carlson and bassist Jason Ward and have replaced them with Steve Conley and Michael Spencer, respectively.

Says the band: "After completion of the 2013 tour with TESTAMENT in the U.S., Edward Carlson was no longer able to tour due to physical issues that would require back and neck surgery to possibly correct. We will miss our comerade and wish him well on his next adventure. Steve Conley has been officially recruited to fill the spot. Having played with David Ellefson (MEGADETH) in F5, we are confident in his ability to hold the spot with integrity.

"Jason Ward's departure happened after the tracking of 'Ugly Noise'. Jason had spent nearly 16 years in FLOTSAM and decided to stay at home with his new family and career. He was, and is, one of the strongest personalities in the FLOTSAM catalog of players.

"We have all had a turn on the sidelines.

"We will miss his participation on the road and his witty humor.

"Shorty after the TESTAMENT tour in 2013, Michael Spencer took the helm as bassist. He was the first bassist to replace [Jason] Newsted in 1987 (Spencer was formerly in SENTINEL BEAST). He was a part of the writing of 'No Place for Disgrace' in 1987, and he was on our first tour with MEGADETH in the U.S. and Europe. With that history, it made perfect sense that 'No Place' should be redone. You can hear him on the reproduction of 'No Place for Disgrace'."

FLOTSAM AND JETSAM's current lineup is as follows:

Eric "A.K." Knutson - VocalsMichael Gilbert - GuitarKelly D. Smith - DrumsMichael Spencer - Bass Steve Conley - Guitar

Fan-filmed video footage of FLOTSAM AND JETSAM's March 9 performance at Effenaar in Eindhoven, The Netherlands can be seen below.

FLOTSAM AND JETSAM released "No Place For Disgrace - 2014", a re-recording of the band's second album, "No Place For Disgrace", on February 14 in Europe and digitally on February 18 in North America via Metal Blade Records. The physical CD was made available in North America on March 4.

FLOTSAM AND JETSAM recently returned to Metal Blade Records to release their new album, "Ugly Noise".

"Ugly Noise" is FLOTSAM AND JETSAM's eleventh full-length album, their first release on Metal Blade since 2001, and the follow-up to their 2010 album "The Cold". The record also heralds the return of original members Michael Gilbert on guitar and Kelly David Smith, who hadn't recorded with FLOTSAM AND JETSAM since "High" in 1997.

PRONG: 'Unleashed In The West: Live In Berlin' Official Bootleg Released

Last summer, PRONG spent three days in Berlin recording an "official bootleg" entitled "Unleashed In The West". This is now finished and available for public consumption.

Says PRONG: "Bandcamp allows for us to reach you guys directly, with no middle man involved.

"We will also have a very cool CD version of this at the merch booth at our upcoming concerts. But you can listen and download in all imaginable formats at [this location]."

"Unleashed In The West: Live In Berlin" track listing:

01. For Dear Life (03:58)02. Beg To Differ (04:16)03. Unconditional (05:05)04. Lost And Found (04:15)05. Cut Rate (05:22)06. Rude Awakening (04:05)07. Broken Peace (06:28)08. Another Worldly Device (03:29)09. Power Of The Damager (03:43)10. Close The Door (03:59)11. Dark Signs (03:25)12. Prove You Wrong (04:04)13. Third From The Sun (06:37)14. Steady Decline (04:10)15. Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck (04:14)16. Whose Fist Is This Anyway? (04:39)17. Irrelevant Thoughts (02:33)

PRONG's new album, "Ruining Lives", will be released through Steamhammer/SPV in Scandinavia on April 23, in Germany on April 25, in the rest of Europe on April 28 and in the U.S./Canada on May 13. It will be made available as a limited digipak version including one bonus track and poster, as a double gatefold colored vinyl version including one bonus track and the CD in cardboard sleeve, as a standard version and download.

"Ruining Lives" is the follow-up to the acclaimed 2012 release "Carved Into Stone" and continues to show the band on an upward trajectory, proving that despite having a long, illustrious career PRONG can still make records that matter and re-invent themselves without negating their roots.

With Tommy Victor in the producer's chair and Steve Evetts (HATEBREED, SICK OF IT ALL, SEPULTURA) once again coming in to put his trademark shine on the record, "Ruining Lives" has turned out to be a monster of an album. From the first riff assault of the opener "Turnover", the album takes you on an angst-filled roller coaster ride that marries some very old-school "Beg To Differ" elements with post-punk, industrial metal, hardcore thrash, all the while retaining a modern and current feel. Fans of the bands legendary, genre-defining "Cleansing" era and new fans alike will be thrilled.

On April 19, PRONG will release an exclusive single for "Record Store Day" celebration with the new track "Turnover" on side A and a pig remix version of "Revenge Best Served Cold" by Raymond Watts on Side B. The single is limited to 3,000 copies and comes in a green/white marbled vinyl version. The worldwide digital release of this single is April 21.

METALLICA: 10-Camera Mix Of 'The Lords Of Summer' Performance From Bogota

METALLICA debuted a brand new song called "The Lords Of Summer" on Sunday night (March 16) during the opening show of the band's South American tour in Bogota, Colombia. As promised, the band played a nearly all-request set, with 17 songs chosen online by fans prior to the gig and the last slot filled by the new track.

A 10-camera fan-filmed mix of the "The Lords Of Summer" performance from Bogota can be seen below. Drummer Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone that the new song "is fairly representative of where our creative headspace is at right now. It's one of those things that's like, 'Here, we're writing and we're creating.'"

Guitarist Kirk Hammett told The Pulse Of Radio that coming up with music is not a problem for the band. "We're a band that never has a shortage of ideas," he said. "You know, you hear about these bands that are like, oh, they're sitting in the studio and they don't have any songs, what are they gonna do? That's not METALLICA. METALLICA's problem is the total opposite: we have too many ideas, which ones are we gonna use. And so that's pretty much how it stands with us."

Ulrich cautioned, however, that "The Lords Of Summer" may not even end up on METALLICA's next album at all, or at least not in its current form. He explained, "We did the same thing when we went out and played a bunch of dates in 2006. We were writing and played two different new songs over the course of that summer, and none of them made the record (2008's 'Death Magnetic')."

The Metallica By Request tour will hit Europe this summer, with a single North American date confirmed in Montreal, as the band continues working on its 10th studio album. The rest of METALLICA's "by request" show in Bogota featured such "rarities" as "Master Of Puppets", "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)", "Sad But True", "Fade To Black", "One" and "Enter Sandman".

DEATH AUDIO Cover KILLSWITCH ENGAGE In Acoustic Video

Australia's DEATH AUDIO aren't always about trying to melt the faces off their audiences with intense beats and howling riffs. The boys also have a softer side, as evidenced by their acoustic rendition of 'My Last Serenade', originally by KILLSWITCH ENGAGE.
Death Audio "are in total agreeance that Killswitch Engage is one of these bands that has influenced us not only as everyday people but as aspiring artists as well. We are totally psyched that Killswitch Engage are touring in Australia and have recorded our take of a broken down acoustic version of 'My Last Serenade' as both a thank you for the inspiration and a public show of appreciation that we have for this band. We post this with much respect to our brothers over at KSE and hope they like it.

This song was recorded by Death Audio, mixed by Death Audio and even mastered in Death Audio's car with no money. This video was filmed with a Sony Action Cam with no budget, and edited in-between loading into a gig, eating a $20 steak dinner and playing a show."

SHINEDOWN's BRENT SMITH And ZACH MYERS Perform BON JOVI's 'Wanted Dead Or Alive' (Video)

According to The Pulse Of Radio, SHINEDOWN singer Brent Smith and guitarist Zach Myers will release four more acoustic cover songs on March 18, including their take on BON JOVI's classic ballad "Wanted Dead Or Alive", for which the duo have just released a new video (see below). The four tracks were originally part of an album called "(Acoustic Sessions)", but did not get certain permissions in time from the original artists, forcing the six other tunes to be issued as an EP. The four additional songs, which also include covers of ADELE's "Someone Like You", PEARL JAM's "Black" and PHIL COLLINS' "In The Air Tonight" will come out under the title "(Acoustic Sessions, Pt. 2)".

Each of the songs was recorded in a single take. Smith told Billboard that he and Myers "are so excited that finally all 10 cover songs are available for the world."

The first six covers was released in January and included songs from THE CLASH, OTIS REDDING, METALLICA, SOUL ASYLUM, KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD and THE BLACK CROWES.

"(Acoustic Sessions)" made news last fall when it was reported that BON JOVI was not allowing SMITH & MYERS to release their version of "Wanted Dead Or Alive". The issue, Smith told Billboard.com, was that BON JOVI and three others — PHIL COLLINS ("In the Air Tonight"), ADELE ("Someone Like You") and PEARL JAM ("Black") — did not approve of SHINEDOWN's plan to post the videos online and effectively give the performances away. "Some of the artists were cool with letting us put (the videos up) and some weren't, and that's totally their decision," Smith explained to Billboard.com. "The six songs [we released first] are the ones that have videos with them, then [we went] back and re-record[ed] the other four songs."

He added: "We didn't write these songs. We did this for the audience and for the fans, and we know it's something they're gonna dig."

SHINEDOWN is also in the early stages of recording its fifth album, the follow-up to 2012's "Amaryllis". The sessions will be filmed for an accompanying documentary.

DEFTONES Singer CHINO MORENO's CROSSES: 'The Epilogue' Video Released

"The Epilogue", the new video from ††† (CROSSES) — DEFTONES frontman Chino Moreno's project with FAR guitarist Shaun Lopez — can be seen below. The song comes off ††† (CROSSES)'s self-titled full-length debut, which was released on February 11 via Sumerian Records. The CD includes the songs from ††† (CROSSES)'s two previously released EPs — 2011's "†" and 2012's "††", along with five new tracks.

In a recent interview with RollingStone.com, Moreno stated about ††† (CROSSES)'s sound: "By listening to the music, you can tell that a lot of the influences come from the new-wave era. That was basically the scene that I came up on. I just happened to wind up in a metal band when I was 15. I've always had a deep passion for a lot of early electronic and sampled music."

Asked about ††† (CROSSES)'s heavy use of the cross in the band's imagery and songtitles, Moreno said: "I think a lot of bands are influenced by religious symbolism and not even necessarily Christianity or Catholicism. Our band definitely doesn't follow any of those. It's more of the aesthetic. The art, the way it works. The initial name of the band was going to be HOLY GHOST. But at the last minute, another band came out with the name, so Shaun suggested CROSSES. It's a very strong symbol. Three crosses is great. It's great to look at, there's three of us in the band."

††† (CROSSES) made its live debut in January 2012 at The Glass House in Pomona, California.

LACUNA COIL: 'Broken Crown Halo' Album Trailer Available

The official trailer for "Broken Crown Halo", the new studio album from Italian heavy rockers LACUNA COIL, can be seen below. Due in North America on April 1 (one day earlier internationally) via Century Media Records, the CD was recorded Italy by producer Jay Baumgardner (P.O.D., SEVENDUST, EVANESCENCE, PAPA ROACH) and engineer Kyle Hoffmann (P.O.D., BUSH, ZEBRAHEAD). The effort was mastered by Howie Weinberg, whose credits include RAMMSTEIN, SOUNDGARDEN, NIRVANA, DEFTONES and SHERYL CROW.

"Broken Crown Halo" is LACUNA COIL's seventh studio effort, and the highly-anticipated follow-up to "Dark Adrenaline", which was released in January 2012 and saw the band tour with acts including MEGADETH, MOTÖRHEAD, VOLBEAT and SEVENDUST after debuting at No. 15 on The Billboard 200 album chart.

"Broken Crown Halo" track listing:

01. Nothing Stands In Our Way02. Zombies 03. Hostage To The Light 04. Victims 05. Die & Rise 06. I Forgive (But I Won't Forget Your Name)07. Cybersleep 08. Infection 09. I Burn In You10. In The End I Feel Alive11. One Cold Day

LACUNA COIL last month hit the road as a quintet as part of "The Hottest Chicks In Hard Rock Tour" following the departures of guitarist Cris "Pizza" Migliore and drummer Cristiano "Criz" Mozzati. Marco "Maus" Biazzi is handling all guitar duties on the trek while drummer Ryan Blake Folden is once again sitting behind the kit. The band states: "Fans will already be familiar with Ryan, as he performed live with LACUNA COIL on the majority of the 2012 and 2013 'Dark Legacy' and 'Dark Adrenaline' tours."

Regarding the departures of Migliore and Mozzati, LACUNA COIL singer Cristina Scabbia told U.K.'s Metal Hammer: "It's something we announced [in mid-Febraury] but knew for a few weeks, and honestly, I feel good, because we couldn't have a better — I don't even wasn't to use the word ‘split'; that sounds like, 'Oh, we had a big fight and we don't want to see each other anymore,' she said.

"It was something that was coming from the heart, very sincere. They just decided they wanted to change their lives. It's not like they didn't like the band anymore, but this lifestyle is not easy. You're on tour all the time, you don't have any private life anymore.

"Being on tour is really surreal, because time moves in a different way, so I think it's absolutely normal that after so many years together, some of us want to carry on doing what we do because we still enjoy it, and some of us would want to move on, keeping the great memories we have together. I mean, they're not planning to join other bands. It's not going to be a huge difference, because we will have the same songwriter, and we are determined to go on. So I'm sad that they're leaving, but we will continue seeing each other outside the band. They are happy, we are happy, everyone is happy."

She continued: "The drums [on the U.S. tour] will be played by Ryan Folden, who played with us for the last year while Criz was at home growing up his kid. And for guitar, we are going on with Marco only, and then we will decide.

"It's too early to think about replacements, and we don't even know if we want that. We might work with session musicians for a while, because even if we are serene and happy, it's hard for us, because we lost two brothers, so we don't want anyone to come into the family just like that. It would be wise, I think, just to go on with us four and then move on with friends like Ryan, who is a great drummer and very easy to get along with. And that's an important factor, because if you're going to share a tour bus with people, you have to be able to get along with them!"

The Revolver-magazine-presented "The Hottest Chicks In Hard Rock Tour kicked off February 20 and features LACUNA COIL sharing a stage with SICK PUPPIES, Century Media Records labelmates EYES SET TO KILL and CILVER. The tour launched in Wilmington, North Carolina, and runs through March 20 in Anaheim, California.

ASPHYX Parts Ways With Drummer, Announces Replacement

Drummer Bob Bagchus has left Dutch doom death metal legends ASPHYX in order to spend more time with his family. His duties will be taken over by Stefan Hüskes, who is a longtime friend of the band. The group states: "We wish Bob and his family all the best. Thanks for the great years of brutality, doom and death!" Bob adds: "I'd like to thank all of our fans worldwide for the great, great support and dedication!"

ASPHYX's latest album, "Deathhammer", entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 67. The CD was released on February 27, 2012 in Europe and February 28, 2012 in North America via Century Media Records.

CHEVELLE: 'Hunter Eats Hunter' Song Available For Streaming

"Hunter Eats Hunter", a brand new song from CHEVELLE, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's seventh studio album, titled "La Gárgola", which will be released on April 1. The disc was recorded in Pasadena, California instead of the band's usual spot in their hometown of Chicago, and follows up 2011's "Hats Off To The Bull".

The "La Gárgola" cover, which can be found below, features a dark figure wearing a buttoned up coat and a beak-like mask worn by plague doctors back in the days.

"La Gárgola" track listing: 01. Ouija Board02. An Island03. Take Out The Gunman04. Jawbreaker05. Hunter Eats Hunter06. One Ocean07. Choking Game08. The Damned09. Under The Knife10. Twinge

Drummer Sam Loeffler explained the group's sound to Loudwire Reloaded, saying: "At the end of the day I think we sound like our band without trying to sound like somebody else, and that's important. But at the same time you hope your music evolves. To me, it does evolve, but it's still melodic hard rock music which is what inspires us to want to write."

The first single, "Take Out The Gunman", addresses the issues of guns and mass shootings, but Loeffler says it's also about more than that. "It is hitting a little close to home," he tells The Pulse Of Radio. "However, certainly it's about that but the real point is about how the media sensationalizes it and how it perpetuates it, because we talk about it so much and concentrate on it so much, which is — when you put something on television, it just becomes bigger than life and then, you know, the age-old question is, if you don't put it on TV and nobody knows about it, will it happen less? I don't know."

The official lyric video for "Take Out The Gunman" can be seen below.

The trio will head out on the road for a headlining tour with MIDDLE CLASS RUT and OH BROTHER, beginning on April 4.

The group is also scheduled to make appearances at the Rock On The Range and Welcome To Rockville festivals in April and May.
