BELPHEGOR To Release 'Conjuring The Dead' In August
 Austrian death/ black metal metallers BELPHEGOR will release their tenth album, "Conjuring The Dead", on August August 11 in Europe via Nuclear Blast. The follow-up to 2011's "Blood Magick Necromance" was recorded at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida with producer Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, MORBID ANGEL, CANNIBAL CORPSE). Songtitles set to appear on BELPHEGOR's new CD include "Gasmask Terror", "Rex Tremendae Majestatis", "Take Her, Lucifer!" and "The Inverted Cross". The cover artwork will be created by Greek artist Anthon Siro Seth, who previously worked on BELPHEGOR's "Pestapokalypse VI" album in 2006. Commented BELPHEGOR guitarist/vocalist Helmuth Lehner: "For over two years we worked on the nine compositions. We got every arrangement to the highest audio potential, added a lot of new, haunting, and compelling structures/ rhythm parts and tritone intervals.
"We decided to record in the USA this time. The combination of European metal's cold and sick elements crossed with an American brutal sound was the master plan.
"We're on fire!
"Expect more shredding, more magick, more of everything." "Blood Magick Necromance" was released in January 2011 in Europe and February 2011 in the U.S. via Nuclear Blast Records.

WOLVHAMMER Recording Third Album
 Midwestern black/death rock nihilists WOLVHAMMER are currently deep in the process of laying down the tracks that are to become the band's third LP, due this summer via Profound Lore. Occupying Hideaway Studio in Minneapolis, Minnesota, WOLVHAMMER is tracking its full-length follow-up to 2011's "The Obsidian Plains" with Dan Jensen at the soundboard, with eight new tracks penned for the as-yet-untitled CD. Guitarist Jeff Wilson stated about the recording process, "Just waking up on what is day five of recording for LP #3... fortunately for myself, not hung over today. We finished up all of the drums/auxiliary percussion last night, which means we'll be knocking out guitars and bass for the next three days or so. Wrapping it up on Wednesday and shipping it off to be mastered. This one is definitely going to come out of left field for some of those familiar with our other material. Be forewarned." In addition to Wilson, also of ABIGAIL WILLIAMS, CHROME WAVES, DOOMSDAY, ex-NACHTMYSTIUM and more, WOLVHAMMER is comprised of drummer Heath Rave (ex-ACROSS TUNDRAS), bassist Joe Noel (ex-SAMOTHRACE, ex-ALTAR OF PLAGUES) vocalist Adam Clemans (SHAIDAR LOGOTH) and guitarist Brendan Seven. Following several independent releases, their "Black Marketeers Of World War III" debut LP was released by Init Records in 2011, catching the attention of Profound Lore, who brought the band onto the label's roster for the release of their critically acclaimed follow-up LP, "The Obsidian Plains", that same year. The band also released a split covers EP with THE ATLAS MOTH in 2013. Upon its completion, details on the new album's official summer release date and more will be unveiled in the coming weeks. FAITHSEDGE - Former DOKKEN Guitarist Alex De Rosso Featured On New Album Preview
 California-based rockers FAITHSEDGE will return this year with a new album and below is two-minute preview of the track/video for 'Comes Crashing Down' featuring singer Giancarlo Floridia, former DOKKEN lead guitarist Alex De Rosso, Tony "AJ" Morra (VAN ZANT) on drums and keyboardist Eric Ragno (TRIXTER, FERGIE FREDRICKSON).
According to the band: "The track 'Comes Crashing Down' is a blend of hard rock and progressive and running a total of six minutes long!"

ABYSSAL To Release Debut Denouement On Vinyl
 UK-based atmospheric blackened death metal outfit ABYSSAL will release a vinyl version of their 2012 debut full-length Denouement on March 10th.
Originally self-released by band in January 2012, the album saw its official CD reissue in April 2013 and now gets a limited vinyl treatment – both through Polish Hellthrasher Productions. The 12” LP will be available in the edition of 400 black and 100 black/white haze copies packed in a gatefold sleeve with all songs being remastered and re-edited.

IRREVERENCE Begins Recording Shreds Of Humanity; Announce Live Shows
 IRREVERENCE has announced they have entered Nadir Music Studios in Genova, Italy with producer Tommy Talamanca to start the recording sessions of the new album, Shreds Of Humanity, the fifth studio work of the Italian thrashers. The release of the new album, the first with new guitar player Eros Melis and bass player Stefano Trulla, is due in May.
The band will play three live dates at the end of April. For the first time in their long career, the combo will debark in Sardinia and warm-up engines live before the new album official release show that will be announced soon.

DEATH VALLEY DRIVER Release ‘Smoke Whip’ Video
 Prince Edward Island's DEATH VALLEY DRIVER has released their new music video ‘Smoke Whip’.
The video was shot over two days in November by Colin MacDonald (Foster Avenue Productions) in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Loosely conceptualized off the Jim Jones Cult, the video portrays the band's vocalist Dan Hodgson as the cult leader.
"Colin really is the MVP of this whole video. His direction and vision really captured the dark lyrics of the song." commented vocalist Dan Hodgson. "The final product is something we are really proud of. We can't wait for people to see the twisted visions he came up with. He had me play the cult leader, which could have ended in disaster. But thanks to his comforting demeanor, it was something I had a lot of fun with."
‘Smoke Whip’ is off their most recent album Graveyard Dead which was released in June 2013 by Diminished Fifth Records.

POP EVIL Shoot 'Torn To Pieces' Video
 POP EVIL have shot a new music video for their current single, 'Torn To Pieces', that's quickly climbing up the charts. Directed by Swedish veteran director Johan Carlén, this will be the band's fourth video installment from their LP, Onyx.
Frontman Leigh Kakaty adds this heartfelt comment: "There’s nothing more haunting & torturous to the human soul than the feeling of losing someone close to you without saying goodbye."
The band launched a social media initiative using Instagram surrounding 'Torn To Pieces' late last week. Since the song deals with the loss of Kakaty's father, fans are encouraged to upload their own photos depicting what the song means to them. Fans have been tagging Instagram photos with #petorntopieces since its launch and the collection is ever growing. The band is overwhelmed with its success and encourage fans to visit their official site and keep it up!
'Torn To Pieces' has gone from being #1 most added to #13 on the Active Rock chart in just 5 weeks. The band has already seen a career shattering two number one singles off of their latest LP, most recently with 'Deal With The Devil' and first with 'Trenches'.

FALCONER Completes Work On 'Black Moon Rising'
 Swedish metallers FALCONER have finished recording their eighth album, "Black Moon Rising", for a June 6 release via Metal Blade Records.
Comments guitarist Stefan Weinerhall: "So now the mix and mastering is done for 'Black Moon Rising'.
"After having a break from the studio and then returning, my first impression was: 'Was it that much double bass drums?' I'm sure this album will compete with 'Northwind' as being my favourite album though they are not alike. The last album entirely in Swedish was really rewarding to do, but I must admit it's always great to be back where you feel you belong!
"Well, enough with the self-admiration for this time."
Producer Andy La Rocque (KING DIAMOND) had the following to say: "This is how FALCONER should sound!"
FALCONER's seventh album, "Armod", was released in June 2011 via Metal Blade Records. The CD featured 11 songs completely sung in Swedish and four bonus tracks that were said to be English versions of the bandmembers' favorite new songs.

 Oslo, Norway-based technical metallers INSENSE have confirmed De:Evolution as the title of their new album, set for release on May 23rd on CD, limited-edition vinyl and digital download via Mas-Kina Recordings/Indie Recordings.

DIR EN GREY - Tour13 Ghoul DVD/Blu-Ray Trailer Released
 Japan's DIR EN GREY recently announced the release of their fourth video documentary, Tour13 Ghoul, on April 23rd on DVD and Blu-ray. Check out the official trailer below:
According to a recent band update: "It features their domestic headlining tour beginning at Yokohama Blitz on September 18, 2013, where Kyo revealed his self-created, skull-like make-up that gave him the appearance of a ghoul starved for human flesh. The tour's stage production invited audiences into the world of Dir En Grey, while the band followed their instincts and laid themselves bare for the crowds. The documentary also includes their month-long American tour, from the fatal shooting at LAX on November 1 for which Dir En Grey were present, to the looming possibility of cancelling shows due to a tour bus breakdown.
The three months of filming captures on video anxiety about their new challenges, unimaginable realities, and a ray of hope at the end of hardship. Why take the stage? Germany's VALBORG Release 'Under The Cross' Video
 German metal monsters VALBORG have released their new video, for the track 'Under The Cross'.
Valborg teamed up with noise rock legend and design/video artist Soheyl Nassary to create a visual representation of the primitive and obscure heaviness that is 'Under The Cross', from their 2012 release Nekrodepression.
The band are currently working on new material and plan to record this year. With a string of releases under their belts, Valbourg appeared at the legendary Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, NL in 2010 and have toured with AHAB and OMEGA MASSIF across Europe. | 0 | |

ETHS - Ex Umbra In Solem EP Due This Month; 'Crucifère' Live Video Streaming
 Marseille, France-based metallers ETHS will release their new EP, Ex Umbra In Solem, on March 14th. The EP features the band's new vocalist, Rachel Aspe.
The title track of Ex Umbra In Solem is a brand new song recorded, produced and mixed by our guitarist Staif Bihl himself. It is backed by three classic tracks of the band, recorded live last October 24th at the Divan du Monde in Paris, mixed by Nikhertz at Studio Phantom. Last but not least, the EP includes three songs from the III album, re-recorded with Rachel’s vocals.
Once again, the artwork was created by photographer / designer Nicolas Senegas, who already worked on the art of III and has no equal when it comes to adapting Eths' musical universe into graphic art.

GORGUTS Parts Ways With Drummer JOHN LONGSTRETH
 Guitarist/vocalist Luc Lemay of Canadian technical death metallers GORGUTS has released the following statement:
"I'm writing today to share with you that we will now have a new drummer sitting behind the kit for GORGUTS. Unfortunately, John [Longstreth] won't be playing with us anymore.
"When I first asked John, Colin [Marston, bass] and Kevin [Hufnagel, guitar] to join me to be part of GORGUTS, rule number one, for me, has always been that each of their respective bands and solo career would always come first.
"John, having a very busy touring schedule with ORIGIN, brought Patrice Hamelin in the picture to replace him on more than several occasions. This being said, I was not going to get a replacement for each players. Then, as tour offers came in, we ended up playing more shows with Patrice than John. Seeing the new ORIGIN record coming along and being released this year, John is also developing his solo career with drum clinics; I was apprehending the complexity of orchestrating schedules for future GORGUTS tours. Having a very busy schedule planed for 2014 already, thing would eventually get impossible to work out.
"As far as Patrice being in demand with a lot of different projects, I could have ended up with no drummer available at all to push GORGUTS. Patrice and I living close to each other, we can work on music together on a weekly basis and that's an important factor for me as well. John and I shared on this way before our December tour in 2013 and I really insisted that he played that tour with us since he was part of 'Colored Sands' since the very beginning and I wanted to perform the record live with the original lineup.
"All I can say is that I had a great experience playing and making a record with John. He's a very creative, curious, polyvalent player and a great person to be around. I will miss our long conversations while driving to New York City to Colin's place.
"It's not a question of personality or whatsoever; it's a question of each of us pushing our individual goals and plans as artists. I want to whish him all the best and in the end, what's most important for me, is when we'll see each other in 5, 10 or 20 years, we won't be talking about not doing a tour together in 2014... we will talk about our friendship through music and how happy and proud we are of having made a wonderful record together."
Commented John: "I will not be joining GORGUTS on the upcoming tours. Luc Lemay has decided to take out Patrice Hamelin for all dates in 2014. I can't say I am not disappointed, but I respect his decision and it allows me to concentrate on ORIGIN, the [instructional] DVD, other projects and future drum clinics/workshops. I am very happy to say that some GORGUTS material will be included on my upcoming DVD."
GORGUTS' fifth album, "Colored Sands", was released on August 30, 2013 in Europe and September 3, 2013 in North America via Season Of Mist. The CD was made available will be available as a digipak CD limited to the first pressing, regular black LP, transparent clear LP and red/yellow colored LP.
GORGUTS will join forces with CARCASS, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER and NOISEM for Decibel magazine's third cross-country domination, set to take place this spring.

ARCH ENEMY Parts Ways With Singer ANGELA GOSSOW, Recruits THE AGONIST's ALISSA WHITE-GLUZ
 In early June 2014, ARCH ENEMY will unleash their ninth studio album, "War Eternal", worldwide via Century Media Records and Trooper Entertainment in Japan. With this upcoming release, the band will introduce a new member to their ranks: Alissa White-Gluz, former vocalist of Canadian extreme metallers THE AGONIST. Angela Gossow, who joined ARCH ENEMY in 2000 and made her debut on the now classic "Wages Of Sin" (2001), will be stepping down as frontwoman and focusing on management, while Alissa takes her place. Gossow comments: "Dear ARCH ENEMY fans, this is not easy to tell you… I have decided to step down from being ARCH ENEMY's voice of anger.
"After 13 years of pure fucking metal, 6 studio albums and countless tours through five continents, I feel the need to enter a different phase in my life, be with my family and pursue other interests. I will, however, remain business manager for ARCH ENEMY, and I will continue to develop my artist management roster.
"I am staying true to my heavy metal roots, just leaving the spotlight, so to speak. I am passing the torch to the super talented Alissa White-Gluz, whom I've known as a dear friend and a superb vocalist for many years. I always thought she deserved a chance to shine — and now she's getting it. Just like I got that chance back in 2001.

DOWN: New Song 'We Knew Him Well' Available For Streaming
 A new DOWN song, "We Knew Him Well", is available for streaming using the SoundCloud widget below. The track comes off the band's new EP, "Down IV - Part Two", which will be released on May 13 via Down Records/ADA Music. Tracked at Nodferatu's Lair — iconic vocalist Philip H. Anselmo's home studio — and produced by Michael Thompson, Anselmo and DOWN, the new EP is the eagerly anticipated sequel to "Down IV - Part One". The new offering from DOWN is packed with the quintet's signature gargantuan riffs, swamp blues leads, crashing drums and hypnotic howls, upholding a certain tradition that countless fans celebrate, expanding their own musical mythos as they leave its pillars intact and untouched. In support of the upcoming record, DOWN will take their renowned live show on the road this spring, joining BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and DEVIL YOU KNOW on a North American tour. The tour, which also includes DOWN headlining shows and festival appearances, begins at Iron City in Birmingham, Alabama on May 2, and ends at Rocklahoma in Pryor, Oklahoma on May 25. The run also includes an appearance on May 24 at Emo's in Austin at the "Rock the Heart" concert, a benefit for the late Mike Scaccia's (RIGOR MORTIS, MINISTRY) "Heart Rock" foundation, with the goal of raising awareness about heart disease. When Anselmo, Pepper Keenan, Jimmy Bower, Pat Bruders, and Bobby Landgraf retreated to Nodferatu's Lair at Anselmo's Lousiana home in the fall of 2013, things had changed a bit. For the first time in the band's storied career, Kirk Windstein wouldn't be handling guitar duties alongside Keenan. Instead, longtime "family" member, stage manager, and HONKY guitarist Landgraf took the reins. "He was immediately at home," affirms Anselmo. "Bobby had always been that guy in case of anything. Knowing his personality, he really locked in with what we do and took it to heart. He made himself belong. Honestly, the first day he came down he contributed a very strong riff to a key song. There's that Southern element, which is imperative. I also catch a real old heavy metal vibe from this record. I can't stress this enough. He took it all on, and he did a fucking awesome job." Keenan adds, "Even with the lineup differences, it's interesting how the songs still sound very DOWN. Bobby and I have always locked in. It's not just physically either, but mentally as well. We see eye-to-eye, and he's been watching for a long time." "It was a big deal for me," beams Landgraf. "I drove ten hours up from Texas that first day, cracked a beer, and plugged in. We jumped right into the room, and I played this part. They all smiled. That was the moment for me. I'm a longtime fan, and I knew we were friends, but being a part of the writing and working towards something together was just incredible. As a guitar player, one of my goals was to be in a group like this. I want to make everyone proud." The fans will undoubtedly take pride in this collection as well. Making good on DOWN's promise of a series of EPs, the second installment sees a pronounced progression amongst the individuals themselves as well. "We wanted to back up our word as far as releasing these EPs," Anselmo goes on. "Everybody was fixated on that. This is the shortest period of time between our releases, and every one stepped it up and upped his game. Keenan, Bower, Bruders and Landgraf all contributed some excellent riffs. Having all of this fresh input makes for a different listen and a new perspective on what DOWN should and does sound like. All of that yields a unique record off the bat." For the future, DOWN's sights are set on endless touring. Landgraf made his formal stage debut when the band headlined Anselmo's first annual Housecore Horror Film Festival in front of a packed audience of the faithful in October 2013. AVATAR: 'Hail The Apocalypse' Video Released
 "Hail The Apocalypse", the new video from Swedish metallers AVATAR, can be seen below. The song is the title track of the band's new album, which will be released on May 16 via Gain Music in Europe and May 13 through eOne in USA. The CD was recorded in Karma Sound Studios, Bang Saray, Thailand, mixed by Jay Ruston (STONE SOUR, ANTHRAX, STEEL PANTHER) and mastered by Paul Logus (VOLBEAT, CLUTCH, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE).
AVATAR is described by many as a perfect mix between RAMMSTEIN, ALICE COOPER and SYSTEM OF A DOWN — something the band has now developed further with the video for "Hail The Apocalypse".
Vocalist Johannes Eckerström comments on the new video: "This is our best video to date. I play your friendly neighborhood doomsday prophet. You get to follow me facing the unbelievers and their reactions when chaos ensues. Good times all around and we are using some really amazing special effects to blow up the planet. Oh, and it's done like a silent movie."
The visually stimulating "Hail The Apocalypse" album cover has also been reveled. It vividly depicts the band steering their ship through a storm on the open sea with the apocalypse happening all around them. They're facing it, riding the waves and taking on whatever comes their way. To the band, it symbolizes the time in the darkness that made these songs.
AVATAR gained much attention when it comes to its creativity in videos, which are always produced by the bandmembers themselves.

Since the release of the band's last CD, "Black Waltz", AVATAR has had massive success all over the world. The singles "Smells Like A Freakshow" and "Let It Burn" peaked on No. 26 on U.S. commercial rock radio charts, where they also stayed for several weeks well ahead of more established bands in the scene. This was followed by extensive and successful U.S. tours. The biggest break through came when AVENGED SEVENFOLD personally picked AVATAR as support band on their sold-out arena tour in Europe late 2013. AVATAR got a reception far beyond expected by the crowds, which resulted in bookings on high profiled festivals such as Download festival and Rock On The Range in 2014, among own headline dates of which most are soon sold out. ABORYM Signs New Deal With AGONIA RECORDS
 Italian/Norwegian hard-industrial-electro extreme metallers ABORYM, who feature in ther ranks Fabban and Paolo Pieri (HOUR OF PENANCE) along with drummer Bård G. "Faust" Eithun (BLOOD TSUNAMI, MONGO NINJA, ex-EMPEROR), have inked a new deal with Agonia Records. Details on band's seventh full-length album, the follow-up to 2013's "Dirty", are yet to be announced.
ABORYM is currently working on a new video for the song "Bleedthrough", taken from "Dirty". The clip is being directed by Andrea Malkavian and the Victorlab crew.
ABORYM's "Dirty" video can be seen below. Directed by Alberto Falcone, the clip features all three band members as well as actors, and, according to frontman and founder Fabban, the title of the track pretty much sums up the subject matter of the video.
ABORYM's sixth full-length album, "Dirty", was released on May 28, 2013 in Europe and June 11, 2013 in North America via Agonia Records. The 10-track double album (cover below) was made available in digipak, jewel case and gatefold double LP formats.
"Dirty" was recorded at the Fear No One Studios in Italy with Emiliano Natali, reprising his sound engineer role from the band's "Psychogrotesque" album, and was helmed by Marc Urselli of New York's Eastside Sound Studio, who previously worked with the likes of Mike Patton and Lou Reed. The electronic part of the album was engineered by D. Loop (KEBABTRAUME, LIMBO). R.G. Narchost (STORMCROW, DEMON'S SHADE, DROWNING ASHES) created "The Spiral Shaped Chamber" custom sounds library for the band. Artwork for the album is by ABORYM's Fabban.
The first CD of the album features new material, while the second CD features two tracks from previous albums, which have been completely re-arranged and re-recorded, covers of tracks by IRON MAIDEN, PINK FLOYD and NINE INCH NAILS, and a previously unreleased track performed by both musicians such as Agonia BV, Tamara Picardo, Samuel Heru Ra Ha MK, Hostis, Ulven, Mike Bizzini, David Cholasta, Tobias Dünnebacke, Jonathan Butcher, Jessy Lavallee, Thomas Hochstetler, Mary J. Rooks, Amanda Neilson and Mark Llewellyn, as well as several fans. The song was written by Alberto Penzin (CO2, ex-SCHIZO) and was spliced together from all the different sources.

FALLUJAH To Release New Album This Summer; Video Footage From The Studio Posted
 San Francisco-based atmospheric death metal collective FALLUJAH have commenced work on their new album and follow-up to last year's EP, Nomadic. Check out footage from the studio below:
Fallujah will take part in The Best In Brutality Tour 2014 this spring with co-headliners OCEANO and BROKEN HOPE. Set to join the tour on March 20th in Los Angeles, California, the near month-long run of live assaults will storm its way across North America, drawing to a close on April 19th in Columbus, Ohio. Additional support will be provided by RIVERS OF NIHIL and KUBLAI KHAN.

ORGY To Release 'Wide Awake And Dead' Single
 ORGY, the reactivated "death pop" band from California, will release a new single, "Wide Awake And Dead", on March 18. The song is a re-awakening; a revival of ORGY, a collection of audio-veterans brimming with talent and raring to go, and make big waves in 2014.
"Wide Awake And Dead" marks the first single from ORGY released this year, as a musical collaboration written by group members Carlton Bost, Bobby Amaro, Nic Speck, Creighton Emrick and Jay Gordon.
Starting on Tuesday, March 18, fans can download "Wide Awake And Dead" via iTunes and other major digital retailers, or at OrgyMusic.com.
"Wide Awake And Dead", just like the lyrics mimic, is addictive at its most transient points, and downright obsession-rendering at its hook. The single is indicative of the direction that ORGY is headed in 2014 — this new sound is brimming with crisp, charging guitars, unforgettable lyrics, and transfixing melodies.
ORGY will tour the USA again on the second leg of "Wide Awake And Dead Tour 2014". The band will head out to support the launch of the single and EP. ORGY will continue to hit major markets throughout the country in 2014 and is seeking to book dates in Europe and Australia.
Guitarist Ashburn Miller announced his departure from ORGY in October 2013 to focus on a career in production/engineering. He has since been replaced by Creighton Emrick.
Originally formed in 1997, ORGY was signed to KORN's label Elementree Records and released its debut album, "Candyass", in 1998. Featuring two hit singles — a cover of the NEW ORDER song "Blue Monday" and "Stitches" — along with the song "Revival" featuring Jonathan Davis of KORN, the CD went on to sell almost two million copies. ORGY appeared on the Family Values Tour with KORN, LIMP BIZKIT, ICE CUBE, INCUBUS and RAMMSTEIN and was featured on the live compilation album from the tour released in 1999. Their second album, the science fiction-themed "Vapor Transmission", was released in 2000 featuring the singles "Fiction (Dreams in Digital)" and "Opticon" and the band later released the song "Faces" for the soundtrack to the movie "Zoolander".
