DESOLATED Release Video ‘Suffering’
 UK death metal act DESOLATED has released a video for ‘Suffering’. The new track is taken from their recent release, EP Disorder Of Mind(available through Desolated Inc), a solemn totem of thick guitars and relentlessly pounding grooves.

KULT Signs Deal With Folter Records; Releases New Song ‘Specter’s Recurrence’
 Because of several lineup problems in the past, Italian black metallers KULT had to take a three year break. New members were found and the current lineup features current and past members of bands like ENTHRONED, GLORIOR BELLI and TUMULUS ANMATUS. Now the band has signed a deal with the German label Folter Records to release the successor of 2006's album Winds Of War. The second album is named Unleashed From Dismal Light and will continue the high quality of their previous releases. A first proof to underline that is the new song called ‘Specter's Recurrence’.

ZAFAKON To Record New EP; Announce New Lead Guitarist
 Puerto Rico’s rising thrash metal band ZAFAKON is scheduled to enter the studio this fall to record an EP following their debut album War As A Drug released this past spring.
The EP, which will include three new songs plus two undisclosed covers, will be released in early 2014 to support the bands return to US for several shows.
Also the band announced their split with original lead guitar Rafael Romero and welcomed Yhann Ortiz as a new lead axeman.
The band comments: “We are sad to see Rafa go, but he has a new professional career now, a real job. We wish him the best of luck in his future projects including his new recording studio, but also we are thrilled to have Yhann now, who stepped up at the last minute for our recent USA mini tour and made a really good work and we feel it’s the right guy for the job right now.”

CRAVING To Release At Dawn In October, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA Guitarist CHRIS CAFFERY To Guest On Album
 The second full-length album of German metal band CRAVING will raise At Dawn in October via Apostasy Records.
Recorded in six months at Craving’s own studio and recorded, mixed and mastered by Christoph Brandes at Iguana Studios (NECROPHAGIST, FINSTERFORST, UNLIGHT) it represents the bands strongest material thus far.
The cover artwork was done by All Things Rotten (CHILDREN OF BODOM, AMON AMARTH, MORTIIS, 1349, DEATH DEALER, SNOWY SHAW).
The heavy metal legend Christopher Caffery (Ex-SAVATAGE, CHRIS CAFFERY, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA) has contributed a guitar solo on ‘Targaryen Wrath’. Members of ORDEN OGAN, OBSCURITY, DISTOPOLYS, ISLAY, CHEE SALIS and INGO PUTZ are among the seven guests on album.
Vocalist/guitarist Ivan Chertov comments: "Our new material created with a lot of hard work and gallons of lifeblood representing Craving stronger than before in 2013. Expect the purest Craving Metal album in the advanced form. Craving will rise at dawn!”

KLONE Perform On L’Enôrme TV; Video Streaming
 Poitiers, France-based progressive metallers KLONE recently performed three songs - 'Give Up The Rest', 'Rocket Smoke' and 'Into The Void' on L’Enôrme TV. Footage of the performance can be seen below:
Klone have confirmed a European headline tour with support coming from ORPHANED LAND, THE MARS CHRONICLES, BILOCATE and KALAS. The tour starts on September 20th in Colmar, France and will end on November 15th in Dublin, Ireland, and will see Klone supporting their latest studio album, The Dreamer’s Hideaway, released last year via Klonosphere Records.

JULIUS SEIZURE Premier 'Second Coming' Video
 Clifton, NJ-based metal act JULIUS SEIZURE have released the music video for their new single, 'Second Coming', off their sophomore EP, Trials. The video is the third commercial release by the band and touches on some heavy subject matter.
Vocalist Charlie Corletta states: "My vision for 'Second Coming' was to have the video coincide with the lyrics. I see a lot of injustice in the world. Modern warfare, political and corporate corruption, greed, violence and poverty. These are issues I can not ignore. There is no second coming. We must look to ourselves in order to fix ourselves, not religious or political figures. I wanted people to see the world we live in through my eyes."
The video directed by Jonathan Robertson of P1 Digital Media.
Julius Seizure's new EP, Trials, is due out August 20th with their official record release show at Dingbatz in Clifton, NJ on August 24th.

The first song is a lot doomier but the second one is a lot more stoner rock. So, we'll see how it turns out. This is dead serious though; lots, lots of fun!"

NECROPHAGIA Stream Rough Demo Of 'The Dead Among Us'
 NECROPHAGIA have posted a rough demo of their new track, 'The Dead Among Us'. Based on Lucio Fulci's Zombie, aka Zombie Flesh Eater, this is a very rough demo recorded for the purpose of structuring the song and samples. There are no real production values on this recording.
In other news, Necrophagia are recording a new single titled 'The Wicked'. The song will be made available as a FREE download to the public. "It's our way of saying thanks to all of you for sticking by us for so long and putting up with the countless delays WhiteWorm Cathedral has suffered," says Killjoy. HAKEN Reveal 'Pareidolia' Video
 Progressive-metallers HAKEN are gearing up for the release of their third album and InsideOut Music debut, The Mountain. They've just revealed the second track to be taken from said album, and this comes in the shape of the ten-minute long journey that is 'Pareidolia'. The band had this to say about the track: "This song is at the heavier end of the Haken spectrum. It's a bit of a culture clash too; we had fun incorporating the Hindu scale, some tribal percussion and even a Greek bouzouki into our sound. We asked Marc Papeghin to create the visuals for us after he blew us away with his epic 22 minute Visions video."

SILENT OPERA Sign With Massacre Records; Reflections Album Due In 2014
 Massacre Records has announced the signing of French melancholic metallers SILENT OPERA. Their new album, Reflections, is expected to drop in early 2014. Reflections will be mixed and mastered by Mobo (LOKURAH, GOROD, MINUSHUMAN) at the Conkrete Studio.
The label on the signing: “We're happy to welcome Silent Opera from France to the Massacre Records family! The band was formed in 2007 by Olivier Sentenac, Laure Laborde, and Romain Larregain. They started writing their first songs and were soon in need of great musicians to complete the lineup. Jon and Steven later joined the band and Silent Opera entered the Laguna Records Studio to record their debut album. They released Act One in 2010 and presented it live during a tour in France in March 2011.

KROWNN Launch Video For 'Gods Of Magnitogorsk'
 Italian doom metal band KROWNN have released their new video, for the track 'Gods Of Magnitogorsk', featured on Hyborian Age, the band's 6-song, 40-minute debut full length, described as "a trip back to the good old doom and gloom sound of TROUBLE, BLACK SABBATH, ELECTRIC WIZARD and SAINT VITUS".
Formed in 2012, the Venetian trio offers a very heavy, very catchy, well-constructed and structured old school doom metal with superb vocal arrangements.

THE HAUNTED recently returned to the spotlight after almost a year without public activity and restructuring behind closed doors, following a major switch of lineups around fall of 2012.

THE HAUNTED's founding member and guitarist Patrik Jensen checked in to comment on the recent developments as follows: "THE HAUNTED went through some difficult times last year. Losing three band members is a pretty huge blow to any band. Jonas and I agreed immediately that we wanted to continue with the band, but we wanted to take our time and not rush into anything. Meanwhile, news from THE HAUNTED's camp have been pretty scarce.
"We are very happy to be able to present you a full band lineup. Some of you might recognize a few faces, some of you might not. Adrian Erlandsson is back on drums and Marco Aro is back on vocals. Adrian you might know from playing on our first album and Marco sang on 'The Haunted Made Me Do It', 'Live Rounds In Tokyo' and 'One Kill Wonder'. On guitar we also have Ola Englund bringing some pretty heavy chops to the band.
"We're all VERY excited about having THE HAUNTED back in working shape again and we can't wait to get back out on the road to play for our very patient and faithful fans again. A new album is also already in the works and if you are familiar with the individual band members of this new lineup, you can be assured that the new material will grab you by the throat from the get-go!"
Vocalist Marco Aro (ex-FACE DOWN, also in THE RESISTANCE) was previously involved with THE HAUNTED for three acclaimed releases between 1999 and 2003 as well as for several worldwide touring campaigns. Drummer Adrian Erlandsson (also in AT THE GATES and PARADISE LOST) belonged to the original lineup of THE HAUNTED together the Björler twins after the demise of their previous legendary group, AT THE GATES. Together with Jensen, they launched THE HAUNTED's self-titled debut in 1998, an album which has been widely considered as the kick-start for a new era in the thrash metal movement and which, despite its initial underground status, climbed to be a massively inspirational record for a whole new generation of musicians and bands in the following decade. Guitarist Ola Englund is a highly talented young player from Sweden, who has recently been active as touring and recording member of U.S. death metal institution SIX FEET UNDER. Together with guitarist Jensen and bassist Jonas Björler, THE HAUNTED's announcement of this new formation promises to be only the beginning of greater things to come.

LILLIAN AXE Involved In Road Accident; Shows Canceled
 While travelling to Texas to perform Thursday night at Trees in Dallas and Friday night at the Scout Bar in Houston, Louisiana rockers LILLIAN AXE were involved in a vehicular accident. All members of the band are well and have been treated at local hospitals for minor and non-threatening injuries. There has been extensive damage to the band’s equipment, and as a result; this week's performances have been canceled and will be rescheduled.
LILLIAN AXE's latest album, "XI: The Days Before Tomorrow", was released in Europe on January 27, 2012 through Germany's AFM Records and in North America on February 14, 2012 via CME Records.
"XI: The Days Before Tomorrow" was recorded at Sound Landing Studio in Covington, Louisiana, with the band's guitarist/songwriter Steve Blaze acting as producer and Rob Hovey engineering.  Danish thrashers HATESPHERE will release their eighth studio album, "Murderlust", on September 27 via Massacre Records. The CD was recorded at Antfarm Studios in Aarhus, Denmark with producer Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, SICK OF IT ALL, MOONSPELL, DARK TRANQUILLITY) and it once again features cover artwork by MNEMIC's Mircea Gabriel Eftemie.
"Murderlust" will be made available as both standard and digipack.

HATESPHERE's most recent album, "The Great Bludgeoning", entered the official chart in Denmark at position No. 40. The group's 2009 effort, "To The Nines", landed at No. 36 while 2007's "Serpent Smiles and Killer Eyes" debuted at No. 26.
Vocalist Esben "Esse" Hansen joined HATESPHERE as the band's new singer in June 2010.

Video: METAL CHURCH Performs At Legendary Whisky A Go Go
 Video footage of the reunited METAL CHURCH — Ronny Munroe on vocals, Kurdt Vanderhoof and Rick Van Zandt on guitars, Steve Unger on bass, and Jeff Plate on drums — performing on August 4 at Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California can be seen below.
METAL CHURCH recently inked a deal with Rat Pak Records. The band's tenth studio album, "Generation Nothing", will be released in the early fall via Kurdt's label Body Of Work Recordings in conjunction with Rat Pak.
According to Vanderhoof, "Generation Nothing" — which was recorded at Kurdt's English Channel studio in Washingtion — marks a "return to [METAL CHURCH's] classic metal sound. It has elements of the first album and 'The Dark', but still embraces the new sound of the band without chasing the past."
Munroe said in a recent interview with Metal Assault that the new METAL CHURCH effort would contain material that is "very reminiscent of the old days with some stuff that's very 'now.'" He added: "There's a bit of… I'm not going to say 'prog' because it's not, but there's a couple of elements in there that are a little bit progressive. For the most part, out of this batch of songs, they really sound more reminiscent of the early days than anything we've done before with this lineup. This excites me very much, and I think the fans are really going to dig it."
Regarding the circumstances that led to METAL CHURCH's breakup in 2009, Ronny said: "Well, in a nutshell, without going into a huge and long story here, it was certain aspects of things that had continued to happen to the band throughout its career. Not having the proper management and the proper people in place that were handling us. You know, we ended up taking some shows we shouldn't have taken and that just led to where Kurdt was really getting fed up and then we all kind of got that way. Basically, we figured before we end up disbanding because of other reasons such as maybe starting to fight with one another or whatnot, we decided to go ahead and end it then. We all ended up friends and we wanted to keep it that way. So I won't go into specifics, but we all know what the music industry is like now compared to what it was like back then. We just didn't have the right people in our camp."
Asked what the band is going to do differently this time around to avoid falling into the same trap, Ronny said: "This time around we're going to release this next record on Kurdt's label. Basically, Kurdt and the band and whatnot are taking a lot more control of the situation. Yes, maybe the downloading thing is even worse than 2009, but also on the other hand, if you know what you're doing and you use the Internet correctly, you can actually have success. Kurdt's been doing that with his prog band PRESTO BALLET and whatnot. In this day and age, the time is right to go and try something on your own. If it doesn't work, you can always end up going out and searching for a label or something. We're going to take a shot at it and see what happens and I think we're probably going to have some decent success." | 0 | |

ICED EARTH Completes Recording New Album
 North American metallers ICED EARTH have finished recording their new album, "Plagues Of Babylon", for a January 2014 via Century Media Records.
Says ICED EARTH guitarist/mainman Jon Schaffer: "There's quite a selection of epic heaviness on your way, for release early next year.
"We arrived in Sweden and are heading on to Portugal for a few festivals, and then on Monday, we start the mix!"
Speaking to Metal4 magazine at last month's Rockharz open-air festival in Germany, Schaffer said about the upcoming CD: "It's a bit of a different thing for us, because it's half of a concept and the other half is [standalone] tracks. Musically, I think it's just another step in the right direction. It's really heavy, it's very melodic. It has a really epic feeling. Even though there isn't, like, a monster, long epic track, the overall feel of the songs is very epic. I mean, there's no 'Dante's Inferno' or 'Gettysburg' or the 'Something Wicked' trilogy or something like that on here, but I'm really happy with it."

ICED EARTH recently parted ways with drummer Brent Smedley for "personal family reasons." He has since been replaced by Raphael Saini (CHAOSWAVE).
ICED EARTH has been hitting it relentlessly, with the recent studio album, "Dystopia", being the most toured album in the band's illustrious history.
One of the many highlights of the "World Dystopia Tour", a headline show at the historic Kourion Amphitheatre in Cyprus, was recently released on Blu-ray, DVD and in many other formats under the title "Live In Ancient Kourion".
"Dystopia" was released in October 2011 via Century Media Records. The CD marked the band's recording debut with singer Stu Block (INTO ETERNITY), who joined ICED EARTH in March 2011 following the departure of Matt Barlow.

QUEEN's BRIAN MAY Undergoes Knee Replacement Surgery
 According to The Pulse Of Radio, QUEEN's Brian May has kept his fan base on top of his knee replacement surgery via his official web site, BrianMay.com, posting on August 6: "I'm THROUGH!!! With a shiny new knee. This no walk in the park (!) but for 1st time in months I feel optimistic and free of that OLD pain. Thanks so much for the great messages — it means a lot. Bri zzzzz."
In addition to his new album with Broadway star Kerry Ellis, called "Acoustic By Candlelight", May has been putting the finishing touches on the soon-to-be-released 1983 Freddie Mercury/Michael Jackson demos. In addition to that, he and drummer Roger Taylor have been working on new QUEEN tracks with legendary producer Chris Thomas.
Chris Thomas is best known for his work on THE BEATLES' "White Album" and numerous projects with Paul McCartney, Pete Townshend, THE PRETENDERS, PINK FLOYD, BADFINGER, INXS, SEX PISTOLS, Elton John, U2, among others. The sessions mark his first behind the boards for QUEEN.
There's no word who the two vocalists singing lead on the tracks are, or when they'll be released.
The Pulse Of Radio asked QUEEN drummer Roger Taylor if he and Brian May have remained as close as they were during QUEEN's heyday. "Very close," he said. "I mean, we are, y'know, what's left of QUEEN. And, y'know, I saw him yesterday, we had a meeting. We see one other all the time — 'cause there's so much to talk about. Seems like there's more and more to talk about. And we don't always agree all the time, but we are very close, yeah."

JANE'S ADDICTION: New Song 'Another Soulmate' Available For Streaming
 A new JANE'S ADDICTION song entitled "Another Soulmate" is available for streaming at RollingStone.com. The track is being released in time for JANE'S ADDICTION's co-headlining appearance at the fourth annual Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival, kicking off on August 9 in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
"Being that we have a tour, I'm really happy that we have a good song that will serve as our calling card when we hit various cities," JANE'S ADDICTION frontman Perry Farrell tells RollingStone,com. "JANE'S is kind of known for long songs; being this is a one-song single, I thought it'd be interesting to try and write a BEATLES-esque short song that would be fast and furious and it would just be fun, dig it and move on, short attention span."
In addition to JANE'S ADDICTION, Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival features ALICE IN CHAINS, COHEED AND CAMBRIA, WALKING PAPERS and DANKO JONES, among others.
Farrell talked to RollingStone.com about some of the other bands on the bill. "I've met the COHEED AND CAMBRIA kids; I like them a lot," he said. "I like how creative they are with their comic-book stuff; it's amazing that they're so into making comics and superheroes and things like that. It reminds me a little bit of the TOOL guys when I first met them and they were really into doing interesting and bizarre things with video. The ALICE [IN CHAINS] guys I've known forever; I knew them in their heyday and I've continued to stay in touch with Jerry Cantrell."
JANE'S ADDICTION released a concert document called "Live In NYC" on June 25. The set was issued on DVD/CD, Blu-ray and double LP vinyl, as well as standalone DVD and CD. The show was filmed and recorded at New York City's Terminal 5 on July 25, 2011, while the band was touring in support of its first studio album in eight years, "The Great Escape Artist".

EYES SET TO KILL: New Song 'Infected' Available For Streaming
 "Infected", a brand new song from Arizona's EYES SET TO KILL, can be streamed below. The track comes off the band's fifth full-length album, "Masks", which will be released on September 17 in North America via Century Media Records. The CD was produced by Steve Evetts, who has previously worked with THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, SUICIDE SILENCE and SEPULTURA, among others.
In the time leading up to pre-production and the recording of "Masks", EYES SET TO KILL decided instead of pandering or worrying about expectations, they would hunker down and demo two of their strongest new songs, the irresistibly "True Colors" and "Nothing Left To Say". Both merged anthemic scope and jarring metallic elegance, making for some of the group's catchiest fare and as a result, they joined forces with Century Media Records for their fifth studio album.
"Those two songs served as a blueprint for the entire record," explains singer, songwriter, guitarist Alexia Rodriguez. "When we were writing, I didn't try to do what everybody else does. We didn't need to throw a ton of riffs into one song or get overly technical. I wanted to make music that was catchy."
With that mindset, the group retreated to a Southern California studio with Evetts. In the process, Alexia evolved immensely as the band's songwriter, and the band's patented sound expanded. For the first time, Cisko Miranda added staggering screams and vocals, building the harmonies and everything became amplified from the heaviness to the hooks.

Video: MPIRE OF EVIL Performs VENOM Classics At Germany's HEADBANGERS OPEN AIR
 Fan-filmed video footage of MPIRE OF EVIL (formerly PRIMEVIL) — the band formed in 2010 by ex-VENOM members Jeff "Mantas" Dunn (guitar) and Tony "The Demolition Man" Dolan (bass, vocals) — performing the VENOM classics "Withing Hour" and "Black Metal" on July 25 at the Headbangers Open Air festival in Brande-Hörnerkirchen, Germany can be seen below.
MPIRE OF EVIL recently filmed a video for the song "Taking It All" from its "Crucified" album.
"Crucified" came out on May 7 via Deadline Music (a subsidiary of Cleopatra Records). The booklet includes art by Mantas, lyrics and band pics.
"Crucified" bulldozes through eleven tracks — including nine re-recorded versions of VENOM tracks from Dolan's time with the group — opening with the driving "Temples of Ice" and not taking its foot off the gas through the closing beast, "Taking It All" (which includes the perfect anti-chant). The riffs are dense and mighty, rhythms propulsive, and the vocals relentlessly intense. The record takes on dystopian themes of destruction, evil, and corruption and in the case of pointed tracks like "Blackened Are The Priests", all three.
