SOULFLY: 'Bloodshed' Lyric Video Released
 The official lyric video for the new SOULFLY song "Bloodshed" can be seen below. The track features a guest appearance by SOULFLY mainman Max Cavalera's son Igor Cavalera (of LODY KONG).
Comments Max: "The song is about the absurdity of the human condition in territories plagued by bloodshed all over the world. Not just recent events like Iraq, but also historical conflicts such as the U.S. Civil War, World Wars I and II, etc."
"Bloodshed" comes off SOULFLY's ninth album, "Savages", which will be released on October 4 via the band's new label home, Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The CD was produced by Terry Date, who is known for his work with such acts as PANTERA, DEFTONES and SOUNDGARDEN, among many others. Additional guest vocal appearances on "Savages" include SOULFLY bass player Tony Campos, CLUTCH's Neil Fallon, NAPALM DEATH's Mitch Harris and Jamie Hanks of I DECLARE WAR.
"Savages" will be released as a limited-edition digpack CD, 2LP vinyl and digital download.

The cover artwork for "Savages" was created by renowned artist Paul Stottler, who is best known for his work on SACRED REICH's legendary "Surf Nicaragua" cover.
Date previously mixed SOULFLY's "3" (2002), "Prophecy" (2004) and "Dark Ages" (2005) albums, but had never produced any of the group's CDs.
The drum tracks on the new SOULFLY CD were laid down by Max's 21-year-old son, Zyon Cavalera, who joined the band as its touring drummer for its recent rampage through North America.
Zyon previously played with SOULFLY during the band's tour of Brazil in February 2012.
It is Zyon's unborn heartbeat that can be heard during the intro of SEPULTURA's classic song "Refuse/Resist", which appeared on the band's RIAA-gold-certified "Chaos A.D." album, released three years before Max's departure from the group.
Commented Max Cavalera: "Recording 'Savages' was an amazing experience for me. I was so excited to work with Terry Date, whom I consider to be one of the best producers of all time. He has done some great records and we have been in contact for awhile since he mixed three SOULFLY albums in the past. He came to see SOULFLY whenever we played in Seattle, and we finally made it work that he would be the producer for 'Savages'.
"My teammates were awesome. Marc [Rizzo, guitar] did some crazy guitar noises and we did a 'Mars Part Two' at the end of 'El Comegente'; it's very LED ZEPPELIN-influenced and Marc kicked some ass on it.
"I wrote 'El Comegente' with Tony Campos. It's in Portuguese and Spanish and it's about Vargas — a Venezuelan cannibal from the '80s. He is the Hannibal Lecter of the Andes. Crazy shit!
"I worked for the first time on a full album with my son, Zyon. Before recording the album I first worked closely at home with him in preproduction, and it was great to spend weeks on the songs with Zyon, shaping the sound of the record.
"Zyon did a great job and he hits really hard just like his uncle Igor.
"It was amazing recording with my son. A whole record! A dream come true for a father whose life is dedicated to metal. 'Savages' is a celebration of all that."

Sweden's SHINING Announces Track Listing And Guest Performers For Upcoming Album
 The long-awaited details about which vocalists would be featuring on "8 ½ - Feberdrömmar I Vaket Tillstånd", the new album from Sweden's SHINING, have been announced today, and not unsurprisingly Niklas Kvarforth has chosen some of the most iconic frontmen from the extreme metal genre, as well as a some perhaps surprising choices, to take part in the project.

The six songs on "8 ½ - Feberdrömmar I Vaket Tillstånd" date back to SHINING's "Livets Ändhållplats" and "Angst" era and are in their original pre-production form, with the addition of newly recorded bass and guitars as well as Lars Fredrik Fröslie (ANGST SKVADRON, WOBBLER, ASMEGIN) on keyboards, which the band didn't start using until their sixth album. Set for release on Dark Essence Records on September 23, "8 ½ - Feberdrömmar I Vaket Tillstånd" will be available both in CD and limited-edition black or white 12-inch vinyl versions, with liner notes by Niklas Kvarforth. All three versions are now available to pre-order from Dark Essence Records at this location.
SHINING founder and frontman Niklas Kvarforth has wanted to do this project for many years now, and he allowed all the vocalists free rein to interpret the songs as they wished and also to sing in their own native languages. Something that Dark Essence's Martin Kvam feels fits right in with the label's ethos of mixing tradition with innovation.

Video: MEGADETH Performs Acoustic Set At VEVO Studios In New York City
 MEGADETH performed a short acoustic set yesterday (Wednesday, August 7) in front of a select group of fans at VEVO studios in New York City. The band played the following three tracks:

MEGADETH's latest album, "Super Collider", has sold 60,000 copies in the United States since its June 4 release. The CD arrived in stores via MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine's new label, Tradecraft, distributed by Universal Music Enterprises (UMe). It marks MEGADETH's first release since the band's split with Roadrunner Records.
MEGADETH filmed a video for the "Super Collider" title track on May 10 in the Los Angeles area. California-based model, actress, singer and songwriter Hunter Elizabeth was cast in the lead role in the clip, which she says is "about a high-school couple still loving each other after all the years after graduation, and at the 10-year reunion, both characters find themselves successful (a model and a mathematician) and still very in love."

THE ANSWER Premiere XXX Version Of 'Spectacular' Video
 THE ANSWER are set to return with a new studio album, New Horizon, on October 1st in North America/September 30th in Europe. Recently the band completed work on a video for the first single from New Horizon, 'Spectacular'. The XXX version of the video can be seen below:
Keeping the beacon of Irish rock music well and truly alight, The Answer have consistently delivered commercial, and critically acclaimed albums. The band have toured the world extensively, proving themselves to be an incendiary live act - spending almost two years as main support to AC/DC and playing to over 2 million people, performing festivals across the globe and also supporting the likes of THE ROLLING STONES, WHITESNAKE and WOLFMOTHER as well as countless headline tours.
Since their third studio album in late 2011, the band instigated a major shakeup in their circumstances and with new management, live booking agents and with new record label on board, late 2012 saw them enter the studio with ex-LITTLE ANGELS vocalist Toby Jepson at the production helm. In a statement released by Storm Studios, they said: "Never one for looking back or resting on his laurels Storm always got a thrill from working with young bands and from the idea of 'newness' in general. In his last few months Storm and the Storm Studios team threw ourselves wholeheartedly into many new projects and New Horizon was one of the last covers we designed together. As is our usual modus operandi, we interrogated the band at length about their music and lives, and listened to the album on repeat for a month. Our final designs were submitted to The Answer very shortly before Storm died. The image itself came from our thoughts about endings and new beginnings, very poignant for all concerned."
The quartet consists of Cormac Neeson (vocals), Paul Mahon (guitar), Micky Waters (bass) and James Heatley (drums) and their UK tour will kick off in Belfast on October 11th. Australian band TRACER will perform as very special guests on the UK mainland run in what promises to be one of the finest rock tours at the end of 2013.

ERIDANUS - 'HellTherapy' Track Streaming
 'HellTherapy', a new song from South American heavy metal act ERIDANUS is available for streaming below. The new song is the title track of the band's debut album, and also a return of the group after two years on hold, now with a new lineup.
About the new song the band commented: "After one year we are very happy to kick-start releasing the 'HellTherapy' single, which carries the name of our album. We picked this song as a single because it's very heavy and has a great impact, also the lyrics show a lot of our work, struggles, doubts, and all the pressure that can take people to their limit."
HellTherapy was recorded in Estúdio Nitro and produced by Roger Fingle (BLOOD TEARS, SEDUCED BY SUICIDE). A release date will be announced soon.

DOOGIE WHITE & LA PAZ - 'The Good Old Days' Song Streaming
 British band DOOGIE WHITE & LA PAZ returned with a brand new release, the sophomore album entitled, The Dark And The Light, released on May 27th in Europe and June 4th in North America.
Scottish vocalist Doogie White came to the attention of the worldwide audience when Ritchie Blackmore asked him to be the lead singer in his reformed RAINBOW. They recorded one album together - Stranger In Us All. Doogie would go on to sing with Swedish neo-classical guitarist YNGWIE MALMSTEEN for over a six and a half year period, record two albums and tour the world. He also recorded four albums and toured with CORNERSTONE and is currently the lead singer of the legendary N.W.O.B.H.M. band TANK.
The Dark And The Light front cover illustration was done by Polish graphic designer Oliwia Piotrowska-Wieczorek.

HUINCA Premier Video For 'Orias'
 Chilean tribe/native metal band HUINCA have released their new music video, for the track 'Orias', off their latest album, Sic Semper Tyrannis, released via Digmetalworld Records and distributed via MVD ENtertainment group worldwide. The video was directed by Carlos Toro at Abysmo Producciones.
The music video was based on real events that occurred when an individual called Rodrigo Orias Gallardo murdered to Father Faustino Gazziero D’Estefani in Chile, 2004. Assuming the accounts of the murder are accurate, Orias seems to have been a complete nut. Almost a week later, someone painted some Satanic symbols on a wall of the same cathedral where the priest was killed.

In the footage below, Dan Swanö explains the CD enhancement of The Inheritance. Some of you have wondered why there are two versions of the mix available - here's the explanation:
"The Inheritance is a pretty thick concept album split into different episodes and very briefly, the Witherscape story takes place in a remote village in northern Sweden in the late 1800’s. The central character lives in Stockholm and comes from wealth, and upon the death of his family he's informed by the family lawyer that he has inherited a large estate up north. Having been oblivious to the estate's existence, he decides to investigate, and once he's there "all kinds of weird shit happens…", according to Dan Swanö.
Witherscape marks the long overdue return as active composer and recording artist for Dan Swanö in the world of extreme metal, after having mostly been involved on the studio mixing end of things in these past years. Granted, The Inheritance is not purely a death metal release, but it smoothly showcases both the heavier and the mellow sides of Swanö’s creativity and should consequently not only please fans of his earlier efforts like Moontower or the EDGE OF SANITY catalogue, but also attract friends of progressively atmospheric contemporary metal in the vein of Opeth, Katatonia or AMORPHIS.

DEEP PURPLE - Performance And Behind-The-Scenes Footage From Wacken Open Air 2013 Available
 DEEP PURPLE"s German record label, earMusic, has posted footage from the band's appearance at the Wacken Open Air 2013, that took place this weekend (August 1st -3rd) in Wacken, Germany:

UNISONIC Begins Work On Material For Second Album
 UNISONIC, the band featuring former HELLOWEEN vocalist Michael Kiske and Hansen alongside guitarist Mandy Meyer (ASIA, GOTTHARD and KROKUS), bassist Dennis Ward and drummer Kosta Zafiriou (both of Germany's PINK CREAM 69), has "started collecting and exchanging ideas" for its second full-length album, to be released in 2014.
In other news, UNISONIC has been confirmed for next year's edition of the Bang Your Head!!! festival, set to take place on June 11-12, 2014 in Balingen, Germany.
UNISONIC's self-titled debut studio album was released in North America on May 22, 2012 via Eagle Rock imprint Armoury Records.
"Unisonic" was recorded at ICP Studios in Brussels, Belgium. The CD — which features 11 tracks, plus a bonus live version of HELLOWEEN classic "I Want Out", only available on the domestic edition, and cover art by Martin Häusler (MEAT LOAF, GOTTHARD, HELLOWEEN, MOTÖRHEAD) — marked the first full-length musical union between Kiske and Hansen in 23 years.
UNISONIC released its debut EP, "Ignition" on January 27, 2012 via earMUSIC/Edel. The effort included the track "Unisonic" plus one demo song and a cover version of the HELLOWEEN classic "I Want Out", recorded live on October 15, 2011 at the Loud Park festival at Saitama Super Arena, a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Saitama City, Japan.
Hansen's position in GAMMA RAY is unaffected by his involvement with UNISONIC.

GUNS N' ROSES Thanks Fans For Their Patience
 GUNS N' ROSES has released the following statement via its social media sites:
"Generally speaking, at this time, we have no information on tours, albums, or DVDs. When things get confirmed, we will let you know. Thank you for your patience."
GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal recently told Rolling Stone that there is music ready to go for GUNS N' ROSES' follow-up to 2008's "Chinese Democracy". He explained, "There's a lot of stuff, it's just a question of all of us organizing. We're still doing shows, and I think once we clear our schedule and focus more on new music, it'll happen. We just have little things on the back burner, just waiting for the right time for us to organize and make something new out of it. Hopefully we can make more music — that's what it's about."
According to The Pulse Of Radio, Thal believes that the group's fans want to hear something new from GUNS too, saying, "They want new music, and we can do it. It's not that we're done. I'm not ready for that. We need to keep making music. We have a great band that's ready to do it and can do it well."
Any chances of a new album, of course, depend on frontman Axl Rose. It took Rose 13 years to finish "Chinese Democracy", burning through hundreds of thousands of dollars, multiple producers, every last remaining original member of the group and a few replacements before he was done.
The finished product got mixed reviews and was a relative flop, moving less than one million copies in the U.S.
But Rose remains an enigma. He has not spoken about making a new album in any of his rare interviews, still insists on going onstage late, and skipped out on GUNS' induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2012.

HELL'S DOMAIN: Another New Song Available For Streaming
 HELL'S DOMAIN — the Danish thrash metal band featuring former members of HATESPHERE, KOLDBORN, EXMORTEM and ARTILLERY — will release its self-titled debut album on September 23 via Punishment 18 Records. LAST IN LINE performs material from the early DIO records that Campbell appeared on.
Speaking to David "Gus" Griesinger of BackstageAxxess.com at this past January's NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) show at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, Campbell stated about reuniting with the original DIO band: "I'm excited about that. We're calling it LAST IN LINE after the second [DIO] album. It's the original DIO band — myself, Vinny Appice on drums, Jimmy Bain on bass, Claude Schnell on keyboards, and we found a terrific singer called Andy Freeman, who can totally do justice to the songs. Actually, he doesn't sound anything like Ronnie [James Dio], which is great, [because] I don't wanna draw that comaprison. Ronnie was a very unique singer, but Andy is a great singer in his own right, and he certainly sings the songs very respectfully.
"The original band, we actually wrote the majority of that material as a band, so I feel like we're entitled to go out and play it. I don't think we're a tribute band or a cover band or anything like that.
"There's obviously a big legacy of DIO music, and I think I'm right in saying that most people would think that those early DIO albums are the strongest, so we are just chuffed to play it."
In a recent interview with Rock Guitar Daily, Vivian stated about people who are critical of his decision to perform the DIO material again after so many unpleasantries were exchanged between him and Ronnie James Dio over the years: "Why would anyone be against the LAST IN LINE idea? We wrote and recorded those songs, and we'd like to play them! That's what it comes down to — the only issue being that Ronnie and I had a public spat."
He continued: "I can hold my hand up and admit being wrong about saying some mean things about Ronnie, and I was also derogatory about the genre of music.
"Ronnie was a very difficult person to work with. He was a lovely human being to his fans, but he didn't always share that wonderful personality with those closest to him.
"I had a very difficult relationship with Ronnie, and he had a very difficult relationship with me, and it really hurt me that he not only fired me, but he went on to portray it as if I had left the band. So that's what got me so riled up, and I really turned my back on him and the genre of music because I was very, very hurt by what it was he had done to me. I admit that it was childish, but a lot of water has gone under the bridge, and for me, I've taken all that out of the equation.
"Ronnie and Wendy Dio went out of their way to portray me as someone who had turned my back on the band in the middle of a tour and quit, which was absolutely, 100 percent untrue — I was fired from that band, I never intended to leave that band, and I never wanted to leave the band. Those are my songs as much as they are Ronnie's songs. Jimmy, Vinny, Claude, and myself got fuck-all for those records. We got nothing from the record sales, none of the t-shirt money — we were salaried musicians earning less than our road crew! Because we believed in the music, and we believed as Ronnie had told us that we were going to have an equal cut by the third album. And that's all I asked for!
"The third album came along and I said, 'Ronnie, do you remember that first time we met in London when we jammed and this band was put together, and you had promised us that by the third album it would be an equity cut, which was why we got fuck-all for all those years?' We put our blood, sweat, and tears into doing that and it hurt the fuck out of me, as it would anyone. So then he goes and fires me, and portrays me as being the one who quit. So for thirty years, I didn't listen to those records. I wanted nothing to do with DIO, I wanted nothing to do with that genre of music — I just removed it all from my life. After thirty years, and maybe it is because Ronnie's dead, maybe that does make it easier, I don't know — I haven't sat down and analyzed it, but the fact is, that's my music, I'm the one who's entitled to play it, and that's what I'm going to do.
"I'm not doing this for the money; believe me, I've got plenty of money. It's about the love, the passion for the guitar playing.
"When I did it in the first place, I didn't do it for the fucking money — $100 a week, I don't think that's a lot of money, and that's what I got for doing 'Holy Diver'. And that's pretty much what I'll get for doing it again, thirty years later. [laughs]…
"Right up until the 'Sacred Heart' tour, and when I got fired, we were still getting paid less than guys in the crew. It's one thing to get less than the principal artist — yes, I get that — but to earn less than the crew? Especially when you are the ones writing the songs. It's not like we were hired to play the parts. We wrote those fucking songs, we were part of the band, and we were totally gypped over."

THE GATHERING To Release 'Afterwords' In September
 Dutch/Norwegian rockers THE GATHERING will release their new 43-minute album, "Afterwords", in September on CD, vinyl and other formats. In addition to the three songs that originally appeared on the "Afterlights" EP in 2012, the new disc contains two fresh "Disclosure" remakes as well as three brand new THE GATHERING tracks and a cover version of a song called "Areas". The album's title track, "Afterwords", features a guest appearance on vocals by founding THE GATHERING member Bart Smits and it "shows the 'other' side of Bart's dynamic voice," according to the band. Contributing "great trumpet parts" to the CD once again is Noel Hofman.

THE GATHERING's latest album, "Disclosure", was released on September 12, 2012 via the band's own Psychonaut Records. The CD cover artwork was created by the Chilean artist Carlos Vergara Rivera.

ARVEN: New Song 'Believe' Available For Streaming
 "Believe", a brand new song from German melodic metallers ARVEN, can be streamed below. The track comes off the band's second album, "Black Is The Colour", which will be released on August 23 via Massacre Records.
The band spent the past few weeks recording choirs, orchestrations, guest vocals and violins. After the recordings were completed, Markus Teske mastered and mixed the album at the Bazement Studio.
"Black Is The Colour" will be available as jewel case CD, digital download as well as limited-edition digipak with exclusive bonus tracks (cover versions of Irish folk songs). Jan "Örkki" Yrlund (Darkgrove Design) was responsible for the cover artwork.
VAN CANTO's Stefan Schmidt is performing as a guest vocalist and sings a duet with Carina Hanselmann on the song "The One For Me". Stefan is also part of the choir you can hear on the album.

MEANS END Signs With ROGUE RECORDS
 Swedish metallers MEANS END have inked a publishing and distribution deal with Rogue Records. The band's latest album, "The Didact", will be reissued on September 17 both in digital format and as a physical CD.

Commented Dean Martinetti, owner of Rogue Records: "When I was approached by Robert [Luciani, vocals] of MEANS END, I almost fell off my chair. I'm a big fan and I love what MEANS END is doing in the metal world, so to have a chance to work with them is a top honor for me.

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE To 'Go A Lot Heavier' On Next Album
 Germany's EMP Rock Invasion recently conducted an interview with Welsh metallers Welsh metallers BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE. You can now watch the chat below.
Asked about the slightly less aggressive musical direction of BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's fourth album, "Temper Temper", compared to some of the group's earlier efforts, guitarist/vocalist Matt Tuck said: "[Our goal with the CD] was just to kind of work on a different way of writing songs, really, which is backing off tempos and making them a bit less complicated and just writing a simple rock song, really. So that was kind of the theory behind it. Basically, we're gonna go a lot heavier next time. We just think we've kind of done what we wanted to do with [producer] Don [Gilmore]. We just don't wanna do the same thing again. So now we kind of went from heavy to kind ofthrashy to kind of hard rock records. And now we wanna kind of bring a bit more of a thrash metal element back into the sound, really. We wanna kind of go 'Master Of Puppets'-y. Instead of cutting the songs down and making them simple, we wanna make them really complicated next time."
"Temper Temper" sold 44,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 13 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD arrived in stores on February 12 via RCA.
The Welsh quartet changed the way they approached making an album this time around, with guitarist/vocalist Matt Tuck and drummer Michael "Moose" Thomas traveling to Thailand to do the initial writing and recording for the album. Tuck told The Pulse Of Radio why they made the trip. "It was just nice being in a studio 24/7, really, you know, with no distractions from home and stuff," he said. "So that was kind of the main reason why we went there and it just worked out well, you know, because we didn't have any pressures from having to travel, having to cook your own food — just all the stuff that is an everyday process obviously takes a lot of time out of the day to be creative. So just being there, being able to write 24/7, was a huge advantage."
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE headlined the fifth edition of the "HardDrive Live" tour, which kicked off on April 12 in Denver. Joining them were main support HALESTORM, plus special guests YOUNG GUNS and openers STARS IN STEREO. The trek was sponsored by "HardDrive".

 British thrashers ONSLAUGHT will release their sixth album, "VI", on September 20 via AFM Records. The follow-up to 2011's "Sounds Of Violence" was mixed by Thomas "Plec" Johansson (TIAMAT, SCAR SYMMETRY) at Panic Room studios in Skara, Sweden.

SLAYER Performs At Swedish Amusement Park; Video Available
 Earlier tonight (Wednesday, August 7), California thrash metal veterans SLAYER played a special show at the Stockholm, Sweden amusement park Gröna Lund. The park invites bands to perform on a one-by-one basis — it's not a gig you can book like any other date on a tour.

As previously reported, the official Facebook page of SLAYER's current touring drummer, Paul Bostaph, has released the first photo of the lineup that has spent the past couple of months on the road in Europe, featuring original members Kerry King (guitar) and Tom Araya (bass, vocals) alongside hired musicians Bostaph and Gary Holt (guitar). Check it out below.
It was announced on May 30 by Araya and King that Bostaph would be behind the drum kit for the first leg of the band's 2013 international tour. EXODUS' Gary Holt is continuing to fill in for fallen guitarist Jeff Hanneman, who died on May 2 from alcohol-related cirrhosis of the liver.
Bostaph was SLAYER's drummer from 1992 until 2001 and recorded four albums with the band — the gold-certified "Divine Intervention" (1994), the 1996 punk covers album "Undisputed Attitude", "Diabolus In Musica" (1998), "God Hates Us All" (2001) that received a Grammy nomination for "Best Metal Performance", as well as the DVD "War At The Warfield" (2001), also certified gold. In addition to SLAYER, Bostaph has been a member of FORBIDDEN, EXODUS, SYSTEMATIC and TESTAMENT.
SLAYER's 2013 itinerary has the band playing 35 dates that include headline shows as well as a number of major summer festivals in Europe, Eastern Europe and South America between June and October.
"Paul's a great drummer and a good friend, and we're very happy that he's decided to rejoin the band," said Araya. "We're still pretty numb from the loss of Jeff, but we don't want to disappoint our European and South American fans, and we need to begin moving forward... Having Paul back in the band makes that a whole lot easier."
Original SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo sat out the band's recent Australian tour due to a contract dispute with the other members of the group. Filling in for him was Jon Dette (TESTAMENT, ANTHRAX).

SYSTEM DIVIDE's New Album To Feature Guest Appearance By Former NEVERMORE Guitarist
 Video footage from the recording sessions for "The Cult Of Indifference", the second second full-length album from the extreme metal bulldozer SYSTEM DIVIDE — featuring current members of ABORTED and former members of DISTORTED — can be seen below. The CD was recorded at Sound Division Studios in Hagen, Germany and is currently being mixed by Pete Rutcho (REVOCATION, THE GHOST INSIDE, BURY YOUR DEAD).
"The Cult Of Indifference" will contain 12 songs, including one as-yet-undisclosed cover version, and will feature guest appearances by three musicians, including former NEVERMORE guitarist Jeff Loomis. The cover artwork is being created by Colin Marks of Rain Song Design, who previously worked with SYSTEM DIVIDE on the band's first two releases.

Due to scheduling conflicts, longtime SYSTEM DIVIDE drummer Mike Heller (who is now the full-time drummer for FEAR FACTORY) was replaced by Ken Bedene of ABORTED.
SYSTEM DIVIDE's full-length debut, "The Conscious Sedation", was released on September 14, 2010 via Metal Blade Records. The CD was recorded at Conquistador studios in Cleveland, Ohio and was mixed and mastered by James Murphy (OBITUARY, TESTAMENT, DEATH).
Founded in summer 2008, SYSTEM DIVIDE set out to revolutionize the conventions of the over-saturated melodic death metal genre, proving that extreme metal can have more depth than blast beats, while female vocals do not have to conform to the precepts of the "goth" genre.

JASON NEWSTED Is Still 'Open' To Performing Old METALLICA Song With DAVE MUSTAINE
 Former METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted says that he is still "open" to perform a classic METALLICA song with MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine on stage at one of the remaining shows on this summer's Gigantour.
Newsted, who quit METALLICA in February 2001, is the frontman of a new band, simply called NEWSTED, which is taking part in this year's edition of Gigantour, the critically acclaimed package festival founded in 2005 by Mustaine.
Speaking to Artisan News at yesterday's (Tuesday, August 6) NEWSTED signing session at Looney Tunes in West Babylon, New York, Jason was asked if there was still the possibility that the much-rumored jam was going to materialize.
"We're at the end of Gigantour now; we've been [on the road for] about a month," he replied. "And what you're speaking of is a rumor that started that we were gonna play some old METALLICA songs, or maybe an old METALLICA song together — Dave Mustaine and myself. But it was mostly created by kind of rumor and agents and managers and things like that early on when we were putting together the structure of this tour, that 'maybe you and Jay can play a song.' It was never something that I said or that Dave said, it was [something] that managers said to us, and now Dave and I have spoken of it. But the way that this tour is going, it's just kind of crazy and we haven't gotten to that point yet. So we've traded lyric sheets, we've traded downtuned versions of 'Phantom Lord' and 'Metal Militia' to try to figure out what song we're gonna play, but it has never come to fruition, and we only have a few shows left. So I'm not sure if it actually ever is [going to happen]."
He continued: "I'm open to jam with anybody whenever anybody wants to jam — I think that's not really a secret or nothing — so if the dude calls out 'Phantom Lord', I'll sing or play bass guitar or whatever he wants; that's all fine. But I'm just not sure it's going to happen. As a fan, jamming with Dave, coming from back here… 'Cause I was a fan of Dave before we were brothers and peers and stuff like that. So, man, if he wants to jam, I'm open to that, of course."
Mustaine previously hinted that he would invite Newsted up on stage to perform a song Dave co-wrote during his short tenure with the band.
Addressing his followers on Twitter, Mustaine wrote: "If I play a song I wrote in @Metallica w/@JasonCNewsted, which should it be?"
Mustaine then listed the following METALLICA tracks for fans to choose from:

97% Of University Of Vienna Students Say They Are Studying Finnish Because Of Heavy Metal Music
 International fans of Nordic heavy metal are taking that devotion a step further: They're learning tricky languages like Norwegian and Finnish to better appreciate their favorite bands.
When students at the University Of Vienna were asked why they chose to study Finnish, "for 97 percent of them, the primary target of interest was heavy metal music," Marjut Vehkanen, Secretary General of the Helsinki-based Centre for International Mobility (CIMO), tells YLE.fi. "This somewhat surprised us."
According to Vehkanen, learning Finnish is challenging because Finnish is different from nearly all other languages.
"There's a lot to memorize at first," she says. "But if you study hard in the beginning, then you'll find it's a very logical language."
"It's quite a well-known phenomenon that students in Italy study Norwegian because they're interested in metal," a Norwegian professor in Italy named Siri Nergaard told The Wall Street Journal back in June.
"Every time someone tells us that our music has inspired them to learn, for example, Nordic languages, it gives me another reason to keep doing music," bassist Sami Hinkka of Finnish folk metallers ENSIFERUM said. "But it's quite far from studying an internationally rather useless language… Studying is always good for your brain and it broadens your mental horizon, so if someone has a passion for something, even if it might seem really trivial to others, I say go for it. Follow your heart."

 According to The Shout, AC/DC Platinum, a strictly limited addition to AC/DC's wine portfolio that has been two years in the making, is due for release in September. The one-off wine is a super-premium 2010 Barossa Valley Shiraz that has been matured in American oak barrels for two years and is presented in a gift box and bottled in Saver Glass from France, bound with a pewter neck band.
"After the global launch of AC/DC The Wine in Australia, it's very fitting that the heartland and point of origin for AC/DC is the market that has access to the extremely limited AC/DC Platinum," said Francis Fusca, executive director of sales and marketing at Australia's Warburn Estate.
"To put together something like this — the rarity, the collectability and the never seen before packaging — has been a labour of love for everyone involved.
"AC/DC Platinum is definitely at the forefront of wine packaging in this country. The hardest part is for the fans who will miss out — this product could be considered one of the rarest memorabilia seen out of the AC/DC stable."
AC/DC in 2011 teamed up with Warburn Estate for the Australian release of AC/DC The Wine. Sourced from some of the Southern Hemisphere's most popular and established wine regions, Southeast Australia and Marlborough, New Zealand, varieties include Back In Black Shiraz, Highway To Hell Cabernet Sauvignon and You Shook Me All Night Long Moscato.
AC/DC The Wine launched two years ago in Australia with retail sales of greater than 6,000 cases within the first week after its release — record sales levels for the launch of a new proprietary wine brand.

CARCASS: Details Of 'Surgical Steel' Special Edition
 "Surgical Steel", the new full-length album from reactivated British extreme metal pioneers CARCASS, will be released on September 16 in the U.K., September 13 in the rest of Europe and September 17 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records. The effort was produced by Colin Richardson (FEAR FACTORY, MACHINE HEAD, NAPALM DEATH, SLIPKNOT, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE) and mixed by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, ACCEPT, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY).
"Surgical Steel" will be available on several collectible formats, which can now be ordered with or without an exclusive t-shirt design here.
Joining guitarist Bill Steer and bassist/vocalist Jeff Walker in CARCASS' current incarnation are new drummer Dan Wilding (ABORTED, TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED) and guitarist Ben Ash (PIG IRON, DESOLATION, LIQUEFIED SKELETON).
CARCASS' first studio LP since 1996's "Swansong" will feature guest vocals from original sticksman Ken Owen.
In a recent interview with Chile's Radio Futuro, Walker stated about the new CARCASS CD: "We think we've made a good album, so it's gonna be very interesting when people get to hear the record. We can't wait to see what people think."
He continued: "It sounds like CARCASS. Even the drumming sounds like CARCASS. Everything about it… I think it's gonna shock people, how good it is. I think it's got all the elements that people like, yet it still sounds fresh. So that's all I can say, really, 'cause we don't really sound like any other band, and the fact that after 17 years, we wrote music and it still sounds like CARCASS, I think it's good."
Regarding the direction of the forthcoming CARCASS album, Walker previously stated: "We've taken stylistic cues from all the albums because it's in our blood, but it's no rehash or mess of ideas. I think it sounds almost like the missing link between the third and forth albums but with some groove in there. I've jokingly christened some parts 'trad blast' and some 'death sleaze'… don't think for a minute this is just some nostalgic throwback album — we're setting up another 17 years of ideas for other bands to copy and clean up on. [laughs]"

SATYRICON Signs North American Licensing Deal With NUCLEAR BLAST ENTERTAINMENT
 Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON will release their new, self-titled studio album in North America on September 17 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The CD was produced by SATYRICON frontman Sigurd "Satyr" Wongraven and was recorded in Norway, and mixed by Adam Kasper. The effort will feature a guest appearance by Sivert Høyem, the Norwegian singer best known as the vocalist of the rock band MADRUGADA.

Speaking to AOL's Noisecreep at this year's Inferno festival, Satyr stated about SATYRICON's upcoming album: "To me, it sounds very authentic, it's organic-sounding. And in this digital age where music is mostly played through computers, a lot of that analog vibe gets lost in translation when you play music through medias like that, but I still wanna do it because there's nothing quite like it. To me, it just makes everything sound the way it's supposed to sound — it's dynamical; the music is alive, it's not overly compressed, the levels are not pushed. So, musically speaking, it's a very atmospheric record… This record is full of life. There are a lot of surprises here, but I think it's gonna be a record that's gonna help the black metal movement perhaps find a new way for the future."
SATYRICON has always pushed boundaries and never conformed to what was "expected". That mindset continues to this day, as they awill take part in a very special, exclusive show on September 8 at Oslo's Norwegian National Opera House, where they will perform together with Norway's 55-strong National Opera Chorus.
The special event is part of the Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival, and fans of both SATYRICON and the National Opera Chorus can look forward to a very unique and exciting evening, which coincides with the worldwide release of SATYRICON's new CDtitled.

ALTER BRIDGE: New Single 'Addicted To Pain' Available For Streaming
 "Addicted To Pain", the new single from ALTER BRIDGE, can be streamed below. The song comes off the band's fourth album, "Fortress", which is slated for release on October 8 via EMI Label Services. The latest record builds upon the sound that ALTER BRIDGE has been known for with their uncompromised vocal melodies, untouchable dueling guitar work and pounding rhythm section. SLASH Says LEMMY Is 'Doing Well'
 Former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash says that MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy Kilmister is "doing well" five days after MOTÖRHEAD was forced to cut its set short at this year's Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany due to frontman Lemmy's health.
The band played only six songs this past Friday before leaving the stage, effectively pulling the plug on what was supposed to be a 75-minute concert.
Writing on Twitter, Slash said: "Visited Lemmy today; he's doing well. There's been a lot of rumors. But he's in good shape and finishing MOTÖRHEAD record now."
MOTÖRHEAD has posted the following statement on its Facebook page: "The show had to go on because that's how Lemmy rolls. Even though he was not 100% fit, he refused to feel he was letting the 85,000 Wacken fans down. They kicked ass in the 100-plus-degree heat for a shortened, but powerful, set before Lemmy finally realized he might have bitten off a little more than he could chew. Thus, he will embark upon the recuperation recommended. We know that rumors are flying around, but once he fully recharges, MOTÖRHEAD will be back, don't you worry!"
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Wacken organizers said: "MOTÖRHEAD rocked the Black Stage for more than 30 minutes and Lemmy gave everything he's got to play an amazing live show. He's keeping well — but the temperatures and circumstances led to the point that continuing the show would have lead to a loss of quality.
"We are very happy and proud that Phil [Campbell], Mikkey [Dee] and particularly Mr. Rock 'N' Roll himself, Lemmy Kilmister, played W:O:A 2013 and that they did everything humanly possible to play this gig. Thank you so much, guys!"

BROKEN HOPE: New Song 'The Flesh Mechanic' Available For Streaming
 "The Flesh Mechanic", a brand new song from reformed Chicago death metallers BROKEN HOPE, can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below. The track comes off the band's sixth album, "Omen Of Disease", which will be released in October via Century Media Records. The drums for the CD were laid down at Belle City Sound in Racine, Wisconsin with engineer Chris Wisco (LAZARUS A.D., JUNGLE ROT, ORIGIN, GORGASM), while the remaining instruments were tracked at Mercenary Digital Studios in Zion, Illinois with engineer Scott Creekmore (DIRGE WITHIN, PUTRID PILE, LIVIDITY).
"Omen Of Disease" will feature a special guest appearance by Trevor Strnad of THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER on the new BROKEN HOPE track "Rendered Into Lard". The cover painting for the CD was created by world-renowned horror artist Wes Benscoter (SLAYER, CATTLE DECAPITATION, AUTOPSY, KREATOR).

"Omen Of Disease" — a title conceived by chief lyricist and guitarist Jeremy Wagner — is also a song on the new album, marking the first BROKEN HOPE "title track" since their 1991 debut LP, "Swamped In Gore".
