THE NEW DOMINION Release New Single ‘Atonement Of Species’
Tilburg, Holland-based thrash / death metal act THE NEW DOMINION, featuring PESTILENCE drummer Yuma Van Eekelen, have released their second single, ‘Atonement Of Species’.
The band comments about the single: “We trust we can again count on your relentless enthusiasm, as this track represents a far more groovy, yet ruthless mid-pass death metal vibe. While being a nearly totally different facade of this band it still contains all the elements necessary for a crowd to go completely mental. Crank up your amps, gather your hordes and make your neck snap in the stampede.”

DREAMING DEAD - ‘Midnightmares' Video Streaming
Los Angeles, CA melodic death metallers DREAMING DEAD have released a video for the song ‘Midnightmares’.
Director Pete Leininger has presented the band with his vision of ‘Midnightmares’, capturing a sense of dreamy miasma, filled with an abstracted look and enhanced by a slow shutter speed to add unrealistic motion blur. The title track to Dreaming Dead’s sophomore album, which in guitarist/vocalist Elizabeth Schall’s own words is the personified idea of fear, how fear controls us and keeps us locked and trapped in darkness.

ECLIPTYKA Post Acoustic Cover Of ALTER BRIDGE’s ‘Blackbird’
ECLIPTYKA vocalist Helena Martins and guitarist Hélio Valisc recorded an acoustic cover version for ALTER BRIDGE's ‘Blackbird’.
About the song Hélio Valisc said: "The idea of doing it came from our mutual passion for Alter Bridge's music. Not just me and Helena but all Ecliptyka members have 'AB' as a great musical reference. MARK TREMONTI and MYLES KENNEDY are reinventing the genre, what we can call as contemporary hard rock (laughs), and ‘Blackbird’ is without a doubt their masterpiece. The video is a personal fulfillment and also a tribute!"

PSYCHOSTICK Release 'Sadface' Video
Comedy rockers PSYCHOSTICK have released a new video, 'Sadface', a social media song from their fifth and latest release, Space Vampires VS Zombie Dinosaurs In 3-D.
Guitarist Josh 'The J' Key comments: "This song declares war on terrible, bitchy, whiney, pointless, attention-seeking posts. If you need someone to listen to your problems, go see a therapist (No... REALLY, stop reading this and go talk to a professional RIGHT NOW). What I love about this video is the feel. We wanted to feel like you were being yelled at you through the internet to knock that shit off. Another great thing about this video is how many hidden gems are in it. If you pause the video and take time to read all the mock comments, you will be greatly rewarded."

ALICE COOPER Bassist's BEASTO BLANCO To Release 'Live Fast Die Loud' In The Fall
BEASTO BLANCO, the band led by ALICE COOPER bassist Chuck Garric, will release its full-length debut, "Live Fast Die Loud", this fall via Rat Pak Records.
According to a press release, "Live Fast Die Loud" is "a straight-forward, balls-to-the-wall hard rock album that also features Chris Latham, Tommy Clufetos (OZZY OSBOURNE, BLACK SABBATH, ROB ZOMBIE), Glen Sobel (ALICE COOPER), Jonathan Mover and Calico Cooper."
The "Live Fast Die Loud" title track will be premiered on Alice Cooper's "Nights With Alice Cooper" radio show on Thursday August 8.
Garric previously stated about BEASTO BLANCO: "I've been touring non-stop for 10 years with ALICE COOPER and I've learned a lot from one of rock and roll's most entertaining villains. BEASTO BLANCO has given me the chance to be me and let loose."
Garric, current bass player for ALICE COOPER, has been touring non-stop including a current tour with Cooper and IRON MAIDEN. In fact, Garric has contributed his songwriting skills to four ALICE COOPER records, including "Welcome 2 My Nightmare", "Eyes Of Alice Cooper", "Dirty Diamonds", and "Along Came A Spider". BEASTO BLANCO taps into a truly unique rock sound, but still stays true to our roots," said Garric. | 0

Ohio metallers MISS MAY I will enter the studio on August 14 with producer Terry Date (PANTERA, WHITE ZOMBIE, DEFTONES) to begin work on their fourth studio album for a spring 2014 release via Rise Records. The follow up to 2012's "At Heart" will be mixed by Colin Richardson, who has previously worked with SLIPKNOT, FEAR FACTORY, MACHINE HEAD and TRIVIUM, among many others.
Comments MISS MAY I bassist Ryan Neff: "MISS MAY I has been a wild ride for all of us since the beginning. From starting out in a basement in a small Ohio town, listening to our favorite bands, and just trying to play shows, all the way up to now, about to record our fourth full-length album.
"As a longtime fan, I am ecstatic to announce that we will be working with Terry Date on our next record.
"Growing up jamming DEFTONES, WHITE ZOMBIE and PANTERA, it's a dream come true to be working with the man who helped capture some of their greatest work.
"As if that wasn't amazing enough, we have Colin Richardson in to mix the record who is also a legend in the metal world. So you can all expect some heavy riffage coming your way next year!"
MISS MAY I will follow up its recently wrapped stint as direct support on KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's North American tour with another direct support slot on FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's "The Wrong Side Of Heaven Tour", which starts September 17 in Medford, Oregon and runs through October 27.

The CD was described by Revolver magazine as having "plenty of monster tracks, propulsive riffs, and searing breakdowns" (May/June 2012 issue). SLIPKNOT Drummer's SCAR THE MARTYR: First Single Available For Streaming
SCAR THE MARTYR, the new band led by SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison, will release its self-titled debut album on October 1 via Roadrunner Records. SCAR THE MARTYR will film a music video to accompany the CD's lead single, "Blood Host", which can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below.
Jordison tells Revolver about the track: "It's very coincidental that 'Blood Host' is our first track and video because it was the first song I wrote for this project when it was nothing but a mere idea at best. Songs, of course, followed, and molded into an overall feel, concept, and now a full-length album.
"'Blood Host' has it all: hypnotic riffs, soaring choruses, pummeling breakdowns, and the lyrics are infectious in every sense. We are very proud of the track and it pretty much lets you know where we are coming from, musically, and what we are all about live.
"SCAR THE MARTYR, up close and personal."
Recorded at Sound Farm Studios in Des Moines, Iowa, SCAR THE MARTYR's debut CD was helmed by Rhys Fulber, whose production and mixing credits include FEAR FACTORY, ROB ZOMBIE, MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE, FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY and more. The CD is slated to arrive this fall via Roadrunner Records.
SCAR THE MARTYR will support DANZIG on a North American tour which will also include performances by former MISFITS guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein and HUNTRESS. The trek kicks off August 9 at Sound Academy in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and wraps up on August 31 at Tempe, Arizona’s Marquee Theatre.
In addition to Jordison, SCAR THE MARTYR's lineup for the tour will feature lead vocalist Henry Derek Bonner (BLOOD PROMISE), guitarists Jed Simon (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD) and Kris Norris (DARKEST HOUR), keyboardist Joey Blush and bassist Kyle Konkiel (IN THIS MOMENT).
For a complete list of dates, visit ScarTheMartyr.com.
Recognized globally as one of the best drummers in rock, Jordison is both a primary songwriter and the drummer for the Grammy Award-winning SLIPKNOT. The SCAR THE MARTYR recording sessions saw him behind the drum kit, while also playing bass on all songs, and rhythm guitar on all but two songs. The album was written by Joey and lead vocalist Henry Derek Bonner (BLOOD PROMISE), and joining them in the studio were keyboardist Chris Vrenna (NINE INCH NAILS), as well as Simon and Norris, who collectively handled all lead guitars on the album.
SCAR THE MARTYR sees Jordison treading in new sonic territory and expanding upon his already remarkable abilities as songwriter and performer. A searing rock record that draws elements from post-punk and industrial music to create an immersive and modern attack, SCAR THE MARTYR creates a menacing and enveloping palette of surging synthesizers layered under heavy guitars and Jordison's trademark precision drumming.
"With this project, I focused my efforts on writing for the better of the song," says Jordison. "I wasn't worried about flash or persona... It's all about writing a good solid song. I'm writing music that people can grasp and hold on to...something that resonates. If you don't have that, then you have nothing."
"I'd been working on new SLIPKNOT material since the end of the 'All Hope Is Gone' tour cycle, but I ended up with so much stuff I had to take a step back and stop working on it," he explained to Metal Hammer magazine. "The time wasn't right. But I came up with a bunch of material that was really killer and heavy and started taking some of it in a different direction. I started focusing on a lot of the post-punk and industrial stuff that I've always loved and started putting super heavy and brutal guitars over the top of it. That's how it started. It's taken me a couple of years to get to this point, but I can honestly say this is the most satisfied I've ever been in the studio. I can't wait for everyone to hear this shit."
The career of Joey Jordison is one that, by any measure, stands among the most creative, and impressive in the history of modern American rock and metal. It is a career that really has been many careers — musician, songwriter, and producer — from small town beginnings to global stardom. Jordison's journey has included an extraordinary string of hits, 11 platinum and 40 gold records, and a Grammy Award with SLIPKNOT as well as numerous industry accolades for his top tier musicianship and, above all, an immeasurable influence on countless fellow artists and passionate fans around the world.

HALESTORM: Quality Kewanee Fan-Filmed Video Footage
Quality fan-filmed video footage of HALESTORM's July 27 performance at Northeast Park in Kewanee, Illinois can be seen below.
HALESTORM was the surprise winner of the Grammy Award in February for "Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Performance", but singer Lzzy Hale told the Oakland Press that not a lot has changed for the group since their big win. According to The Pulse Of Radio, Hale explained, "It's all been great, but there's a lot of people who are like, 'Wow, they're rich!' No, no, the Grammy didn't come with a million dollars. We just got a statue."
Hale added, "I think the only thing we've really said between ourselves is, 'Maybe we should practice more,' because we have the Grammy and people expect more from us, so maybe we should work on being better musicians."
Hale revealed that she just actually received her official Grammy Award "maybe about a week ago," adding, "It took a while, but for me to actually see it makes it become a little more real."
HALESTORM has been on the road nonstop since not just Grammy Night but going all the way back to the April 2012 release of its sophomore album, "The Strange Case Of…"
Two singles from "The Strange Case Of…", the Grammy-winning "Love Bites (So Do I)" and "Freak Like Me", have topped the rock radio chart, while latest single "Here's To Us" cracked the Top 20.
"Here's To Us" is a new version of the song and features contributions from Slash, Myles Kennedy, IN THIS MOMENT's Maria Brink, DISTURBED's David Draiman, SHINEDOWN's Brent Smith and THEORY OF A DEADMAN's Tyler Connolly. | 0

Reunited EMPEROR To Headline Next Year's WACKEN OPEN AIR Festival
Reunited Norwegian black metallers EMPEROR will headline next year's edition of Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place July 31-August 2, 2014 in Wacken, Germany. The news was announced earlier today at this year's Wacken Open Air at a press conference which was attended by EMPEROR members Ihsahn (real name: Vegard Sverre Tveitan) and Samoth (real name: Tomas Haugen).
EMPEROR released its swansong, "Prometheus - The Discipline Of Fire And Demise", in September 2001. It was an epic and progressive metal album that once and for all marked EMPEROR as one of the most adventurous and gifted black metal bands of all times. In 2005, EMPEROR surprised all with an unannounced appearance at Oslo's famed Inferno festival. Following the performance, the band announced additional concerts that would include a visit to America; marking the second trip to the States in the band's legendary career. Fans flocked to New York City and Los Angeles to witness the sold-out performances. In 2007, additional shows would see the band return to the U.S. for a repeat performance in New York City, a stop in Chicago, and what would be their final American performance in Los Angeles.
In a May 2012 interview with Gun Shy Assassin, Ihsahn stated about the possibility of more EMPEROR live performances in the future: "After 2007, that was really a final chapter for all of us. But there's always some underlying pressure to do something. Usually, I just say plain 'No.' I can understand the nostalgia and all that. If I wanted to be as nostalgic as everyone else, it wouldn't make any sense for me to actually make any new music [with my solo project] ."
He added: "People who are old-time EMPEROR fans still think I'm 17.
"I am in contact with the guys, and we talk almost weekly; they're good friends. What can I say? Never say never. For the moment, I am so occupied with my own project — that's my main priority."
Ihsahn said he left EMPEROR because he wanted different things.
"I ended up doing most of that last EMPEROR record on my own. If we still did EMPEROR, and if it were up to me, what I do now… that's what we would sound like."
But there will be no new music from EMPEROR, Ihsahn said.
"Part of the reason why our albums keep on selling is probably because we were always an uncompromising band, and that is a tradition I would like to uphold. If we did a new EMPEROR album, what kind of EMPEROR album would people like? I say listen to the stuff I do, and the stuff that Samoth does, and you can more or less figure out what a new EMPEROR record would sound like, and that sounds nothing like old EMPEROR. Trying to duplicate something from the past would just turn everything into a parody.
"Would anyone want a black metal album made just for the sake of making a lot of money?" Ihsahn asked. "I get all of these requests to get back with EMPEROR. In the spirit of black metal, I do whatever the hell I want. That's the whole point of black metal. If I even consider letting anyone else try to tell me what I should do with my music, that, by definition, would make it non-black metal… as I have learned it."

MIKE PORTNOY Would Rejoin DREAM THEATER 'In A Heartbeat'
Drummer Mike Portnoy (THE WINERY DOGS, DREAM THEATER, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, ADRENALINE MOB) was interviewed by Chile's Radio Futuro prior to THE WINERY DOGS' July 30 concert in Santiago.
Asked what his relationship with his former bandmates in DREAM THEATER is like today and what he thought of the band's last studo album, Portnoy replied: "If you wanna talk about DREAM THEATER for the 25 years I was there, then sure, but I'm not gonna talk about DREAM THEATER now, 'cause people get too uptight about it, so… If you wanna talk about the other 25 years, sure, but [laughs] I'm not gonna talk about them and what they do now without me; I'm here to talk about what I'm doing."
Mike was also asked whether he would one day be willing to reunite with DREAM THEATER and rejoin the band as their drummer. "Sure," he replied. "I would do it in a heartbeat. They are the ones that have closed the door on it. I've only needed a break, and I've had that break. So I'm ready, willing and able. But I honestly don't think they ever will; they've closed their door on it and I think they're too headstrong in having to prove themselves without me. So I wouldn't count on it. But my door is always open."
Portnoy, who co-founded DREAM THEATER more than 27 years ago, abruptly quit the band in September 2010 while on tour with AVENGED SEVENFOLD. He has since been replaced by Mike Mangini (ANNIHILATOR, EXTREME, JAMES LABRIE, STEVE VAI).
Portnoy played on AVENGED SEVENFOLD's latest album, "Nightmare", following the death of that band's drummer, Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, and toured with them for the entire second half of 2010.
Portnoy announced his departure from ADRENALINE MOB in June due to "scheduling conflicts." A replacement drummer has not yet been announced.
