NIGHTWISH: WACKEN OPEN AIR Performance To Be Filmed For DVD/Blu-Ray Release
NIGHTWISH's August 3 performance at the Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany will be professionally filmed for a concert DVD and Blu-ray, tentateively due next year.
Says NIGHTWISH mastermind and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen: "The time has come soon to wrap up the magical & memorable one-and-a-half-year 'Imaginaerum World Tour' 2012-2013! We still have three shows left, one of them being at the legendary Wacken Open Air metal festival on the 3rd of August. This show will be something extra special, since it will be released later this year on DVD/Blu-ray, together with a massive 'Imaginaerum World Tour' 2012-2013 documentary. Our darling flying Dutchwoman, Floor Jansen, has been nothing but incredible during her time in NIGHTWISH on this tour, so this is a perfect opportunity to immortalize the current vibe of the band on film!"
In a recent interview with Ghost Cult Magazine, former AFTER FOREVER frontwoman and current REVAMP vocalist Floor Jansen — who has been performing with NIGHTWISH since last October as the band's touring singer — was asked if she would be willing to front NIGHTWISH permanently if she were asked to fill the slot.
"I've been asked to fill in for the current world tour and for a couple of festival dates, but what will happen after that is still unclear," she replied. "NIGHTWISH will take a break after the current touring cycle and they'll make a decision next year. Until then, everything is still up in the air."
She continued: "If they would ask me, I would be very flattered and I would love to do it. It will be a major overhaul in my life and my career as a singer, but then again, we're not rushing things.
"Both the guys in NIGHTWISH and I have experiences with previous band breakups and all emotions that come with it. It's almost like dating. Things feel good and it's going well, but we're not in a rush to tie the knot, so to speak."
Regarding how she looks back on her experiences as a stand-in singer for NIGHTWISH so far, Jansen said: "It's still too early for me to really reflect on the whole NIGHTWISH adventure, because there are still a couple of tour dates pending, including some summer festivals.
"What can I say? It's an incredible ride and it feels really good. Things went really well from day one. The timing was really awkward, because Annette Olzon just left the band and there wasn't really time to rehearse with the other NIGHTWISH members. Anxiety levels were running high, because replacing a female singer mid-tour is a hazardous experience, to say the least. They were running the gauntlet to make sure that none of the remaining tour dates had to be canceled. They were scared and so was I.
"Things went surprisingly well.
"It doesn't matter where you perform, YouTube will be plastered with movies of the gig the next day, so I really gave it my all. Everyone in the band and crew were really supportive and all the positive reactions and the warm acceptance by the NIGHTWISH fanbase was beyond my wildest dreams.
"Some people would rather see someone else fronting the band, but you can't please everyone."
Jansen made her live debut as the frontwoman of NIGHTWISH on October 1, 2012 at Showbox Sodo in Seattle, Washington following the abrupt departure of the band's lead singer of five years, Anette Olzon.
Holopainen has known Jansen for more than 10 years already, having previously toured with her former band, AFTER FOREVER.
Asked about the reasons for Olzon's sudden exit from the group, Tuomas told U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine: "I'm sure it came as a shock to everybody. We came out with a statement [regarding the split], which pretty much says it all. It still is a private matter, and that's all we wanna say about it, like, ever. It was an amicable divorce, so to say, and made in good spirit, and we are just looking to the future. There really is no reason to go back into all the details and all that. I mean, this is not politics, this is a rock band."
Regarding whether there is a chance that Floor will become the official new NIGHTWISH lead singer, Tuomas said: "The way that we have decided is that we're gonna continue with her until the end of the festival season in 2013 — just have fun, just do the shows the best we can. I mean, the atmosphere in the band is so good at the moment, [we want to] just enjoy this what we have right now. They try not to think about NIGHTWISH at all for a few months. Everybody take a little vacation. And we already have the rehearsal place for the next album booked in 2014 — from July to September. So that's how far we have planned. But when we do the last festival show next August, after that, it's gonna be total nothing for a few months. So I would say everything is possible, but that's really not the thing that we want to be thinking about right now, because there's absolutely no reason to."

Regarding the album title and the cover artwork, which was designed by drummer Van Williams, Van states: "We discussed a few ideas, but once we had developed the band logo, it felt right to use it as the introduction to the band along with the name as the focal point for our first album. The artwork, for me, reflects where each of us has been and how we are coming together from our pasts in this new endeavour."
ASHES OF ARES is:
Matthew Barlow - Vocals
Freddie Vidales - Guitar/Bass
Van Williams - Drums
Gio Geraca - Guitar (session/touring member only)
Dean Sternberg - Bass (session/touring member only)
ASHES OF ARES is a band which represents the culmination of experiences, trials and tribulations of its founding members. Within months of their departures from the iconic metal bands ICED EARTH and NEVERMORE, the trio came together with a renewed drive to create a sound which is a true collaboration of their personal influences, ideas and visions. Armed with the knowledge acquired through years of the writing, touring and recording cycle, and with the support of an army of loyal fans across the globe, ASHES OF ARES is poised to carve out a new legacy and stand alongside those who have helped pave the way.
In an October 2012 interview with Rocket Queen Promotion, Barlow stated about ASHES OF ARES' musical direction: "Well, most folks know what to expect from me, from my work with ICED EARTH and PYRAMAZE. So you take some of that and mix it with Van's brand of cadence and Freddie's riffage… blam-o….it's ASHES OF ARES!!! It's just straight-up heavy metal!"
Regarding the band's future plans, Barlow said: "The reason we are all doing this is for the love of music. We are metal guys and this is what we do. ASHES OF ARES live shows will be limited, but there will be live shows for fans, friends, and family to come to and enjoy with us. We really just want to create music that we enjoy and have that translate to our listeners."
ASHES OF ARES made its live debut on May 17 at the Rock Hard Festival at Amphitheater in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

MANTICORA Parts Ways With Guitarist
Lead guitarist Martin Arendal has left Danish metallers MANTICORA for "personal" reasons.
Comments guitarist Kristian Larsen: "We (the remaining four members of the band), of course, respect [Martin's] decision, and even if we'll miss our buddy and will have to find a new guy — NOT an easy task, we should say, given Martin's talent and skills — we understand Martin's situation and we'll continue writing material as a four-piece so far.
"As it is, we're not actively looking for a new lead guitarist immediately, as we're mostly writing new material at the moment, but if you're a fantastically skilled guitarist and you feel that you have what it takes to replace Martin, feel free to contact us, and we'll check you out."
MANTICORA is working on material for its eighth full-length album. The band previously released seven CDs over an 11-year period, completes six European and one U.S. tours and played a number of festivals in Europe and the U.S.
Due to a lot of personal tragedy, the band went into a writing/touring hiatus following the release of 2010's "Safe" and has only been playing festival shows for the last couple of years. However, MANTICORA promises all of its fans that it will be back, re-energized a and stronger than ever and ready to deliver another 15 years of dark and powerful metal. | 0

BLACK SABBATH kicked off its North American tour last Thursday night (July 25) in Houston, with the reunited group adding four tracks from its new album "13" to a set already filled with SABBATH classics and a few deeper album cuts. The original trio of singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler were joined as on all their live dates so far by Ozzy's solo touring drummer Tommy Clufetos. Founding drummer Bill Ward has sat out the group's activities despite originally being announced as part of the reunion back in November 2011.
Tony Iommi told The Pulse Of Radio a while back how hard it is for SABBATH to make up a set list. "There are so many tracks that it's really difficult what to pick, because there's always somebody gonna go, 'Oh, why didn't you play that one? Why didn't you play this?' you know," he said. "And there's only a limited time you can play as well, so you've gotta work out a set that everybody wants to do without upsetting the people that say, 'Oh, I wanted to hear this. I wanted to hear that,' you know? But you've gotta drop some to put new ones in, and it's hard."
"13" is the first SABBATH album to feature Ozzy on vocals in 35 years and the first studio set by the group to ever hit No. 1 on the Billboard album chart.
The group's reunion plans were delayed in early 2012 by Iommi's cancer diagnosis, although he has been receiving regular treatment and the band was eventually able to record and start touring.

SINNER: 'Touch Of Sin 2' Trailer Available
German hard rock institution SINNER, which is fronted by PRIMAL FEAR bassist Mat Sinner, recently entered the studio soon work on an album of re-recorded versions of the best songs from the band's early years. The resulting collection, en titled "Touch Of Sin 2" (in a nod to SINNER's 1985 album, "Touch Of Sin"), will be released on August 30 in Europe and Septemebr 10 in North America via AFM Records.
A trailer for the CD can be seen below.
Commented Sinner: "When we were younger and new to the music business, we were proud to be part of the Noise Records family and to get the chance to sign a contract with them. Reading this contract so many years later, you can't but shake your head in disbelief and wonder what must have possessed us. The exclusive rights to the recordings have since been bought and sold numerous times with the effect that none of those who owned them has ever had any relation to either the production itself or to how it was created.
"Today, the older SINNER songs still enjoy great popularity within the scene. We continue to play them live, even though the CDs aren't available any longer. It is Universal who owns the albums at the moment — but does not distribute the CDs. Therefore, they're to be held responsible that CDs from this era can only be purchased at exorbitant prices. Unfortunately, the musicians and songwriters involved have no means of dealing with the matter — our hands are tied.
"When I offered to do a remix on several songs for a best-of album, I was told that the original tapes have mysteriously disappeared and were probably burned in an 'accidental' fire. That much about the pearls of our past.
"AFM Records and I — business partners for many years — came up with the idea to once again record the best songs from this era. The album was supposed to feature several guests and to come with a wicked fan package. Initially, I was sceptical. But recent shows have shown the amount of fun and energy the band would put into these songs. However, I will only put this plan into action under one condition: the whole band has to lock themselves into the studio and record the whole thing together. I'm fed up with the assumption that it works if everyone records their stuff at home or comes cheaper. That's bullshit — this challenge meets us at exactly the right time and we'll face it!"
"Touch Of Sin 2", which is currently being mixed by Achim Köhler (PRIMAL FEAR, BRAINSTORM), will feature guest appearances by David Readman (PINK CREAM 69, VOODOO CIRCLE), Erik Martensson (ECLIPSE, W.E.T.), Tom Naumann (PRIMAL FEAR) and Diego Valdez (HELKER).
"Touch Of Sin 2" track listing:
01. Born To Rock
02. Comin' Out Fighting
03. Bad Girl
04. Knife In My Heart
05. Concrete Jungle
06. Don't Believe A Word
07. Shout
08. Germany Rocks
09. Danger Zone
10. Emerald
11. Blood On The Sand
12. Lost In A Minute
13. Masquerade
14. Heat Of The City
SINNER's latest album, "One Bullet Left", was released in September 2011 via AFM Records, the CD was recorded in Stuttgart, Germany with Mat Sinner producing and Achim Köhler engineering.
SINNER's current lineup features Mat Sinner (bass, vocals) and guitarist Christof Leim (THE NEW BLACK) along with Alexander Scholpp (TARJA, FARMER BOYS) on guitar, André Hilgers (RAGE) on drums and Alexander Beyrodt (PRIMAL FEAR, VOODOO CIRCLE) on third guitar.

DAVID DRAIMAN Demands Apology From ROGER WATERS For 'Blatant' Anti-Semitic Symbolism
DISTURBED and DEVICE frontman David Draiman has asked his 120,000 Twitter followers to condemn British rock musician and anti-Israel activist Roger Waters for allegedly using the Jewish Star of David as one of the symbols on the giant inflatable pig that hovers over "The Wall" concerts.
According to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, the pig-shaped balloon emblazoned with the Star of David, as well as dictatorial symbols, dropped from the ceiling while Waters performed on last week in Belgium.
The 69-year-old rocker has been using the inflatable pig for years to display political messages, serving primarily as a symbol of greed, fascism and oppression.
In a message on Twitlonger.com, a related Twitter site that allows one to send tweets that require more than 140 characters, Draiman — who has extensive family in Israel, including his brother, Jerusalem-based folk rock and ambient musician Ben Draiman, as well as his grandmother — wrote: "My brothers and sisters, my blood,
"Regarding Roger Waters' usage of a flying pig with the Star of David on it during his performances;
"I have personally been a fan of Mr. Waters' work for many years. I think that PINK FLOYD are one of the most groundbreaking and visionary acts of all time. Mr. Waters' position on the Palestinian/Israeli crisis is well known, and has been well publicized.
"Whether or not you agree with the policies of the Israeli government (and there are times where I myself, a half Israeli Jew, with a large number of relatives still living in Israel, including my brother and grandmother; do not agree with some of their policies), nothing excuses the usage of the Star of David (the symbol of the Jewish people as a whole, not Israel or its government) emblazoned on a flying pig/zeppelin during his performances for 'The Wall'. It is uncalled for, abhorrent, and blatantly Anti-Semitic.
"If the pig is in fact a symbol of greed and tyranny as described in the song from 'The Wall' called 'In the Flesh', then affixing the symbol of the Jewish people to it, is an attempt at reinforcing an age old anti-Semitic stereotype that is unwarranted and beyond offensive. All he is doing through such symbolism is encouraging hatred and teaching his fans that Jews are greedy tyrannical people, which could not be further from the actual truth. If he wanted to make a political statement against the policies of the Israeli government (which I would not be in agreement with either, but would be political and not religious/racial, and therefore understandable), he should have had an image of the Israeli flag on it, the symbol of the government, and not the lone star of David, the symbol of the Jewish people as a whole.
"Hitler himself used the star of David as a badge of identifying Jews with the word 'Juden' under it, marking ALL Jews as they were mercilessly driven into the cattle cars that lead to the death camps in his maniacal attempt at genocide.
"Once again, this is not an issue of freedom of speech, or expression, as Mr. Waters is well within his rights to say and display anything he chooses, even if it does incite hatred, but it does NOT mean that we as responsible individuals against hatred and anti-Semitic imagery, have to sit back and just take it. Freedom of speech and expression is a two way street, and sometimes you will reap what you sow.
"I therefore urge all of my followers, friends, and colleagues, and certainly the Jewish people within the entertainment community to take issue with this anti-Semitic symbolism, and to demand that the Star of David be stricken from the flying pig, and that a formal apology/explanation be given from Mr. Waters himself."

PROSPEKT Signs With SENSORY RECORDS
Oxford, England-based quartet PROSPEKT has signed with progressive metal linchpin Sensory Records, a division of The Laser's Edge, for the October release of the band's debut full-length.
Coalescing the fierce technicality of progressive metal with the symphonic elements of contemporary prog through brutal riffs, odd time-signatures, and majestic melodies, PROSPEKT's sound is influenced by bands such as DREAM THEATER, SYMPHONY X, OPETH and CIRCUS MAXIMUS, as well as film scores and fusion. The band's intent is to create an intelligent and atmospheric mix of melodic, modern progressive metal, incorporating passionate high-range vocals, frenetic guitar work, haunting orchestration and solid grooves, every composition remaining interesting and original.
Formed in 2008 by guitarist Lee Luland and drummer Blake Richardson, PROSPEKT began as an experimental project, with the focus on complex instrumentation. Through incessant amounts of writing and rehearsing, the duo forged a sound that would epitomize their technical, melodic and progressive methodology. With the addition of bassist Phil Wicker and vocalist Matt Winchester in 2009, the band released its self-titled debut EP in March 2011. In the fall of that year, Richard Marshall joined the band on keyboards and lead vocals (replacing Matt), adding a new dimension to the music. With his smooth, powerful voice, the compositions became more epic and charismatic. Soon after the lineup shift, PROSPEKT hit the studio and recorded their debut full-length, "The Colourless Sunrise", and hired world-renowned producer Jens Bogren and Adam "Nolly" Getgood of PERIPHERY to mix and master the epic, sixty-five-minute album. | 0

ROB ZOMBIE: Houston, Dallas Shows To Be Filmed For Forthcoming Concert DVD
ROB ZOMBIE's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Mayhem Festival performances in Houston and Dallas, Texas on August 3 and August 4, respectively, will be filmed for the band's first-ever concert DVD.
Says Zombie: "Come to the Houston and Dallas shows in your best Zombie gear and we will get you in the movie! Remember, the crazier you are... the more screen time you will get!"
In a recent interview with the Albany, New York radio station Q103, Rob stated about his plans to capture the band's live show for a concert DVD: "[Doing a concert DVD] always seemed like a huge nuisance, truthfully. We had a live record and that took a million years to do. And a live DVD, for some reason to me, always seems like a nuisance, because after the show is done, I don't care. I don't want to relive it. I mean, a certain member of the band films every show and wants to watch it immediately after the show. And it aggravates the fuck out of me. Who gives a shit? The show is over, I don't care. I never wanna har about it again, I never wanna see it again. Like, I never watch anything — a TV show I've been on; I don't care. Once it's done, it's done. But I figured at least once we should film it."
He continued: "We've had so many big crazy stage shows over the last many, many years. And we never filmed anything with [Rob's former band] WHITE ZOMBIE back then. I mean, there's little clips here and there, like [footage from] Brazilian television or something…
He added: "We haven't [filmed any footage for the concert DVD] yet. We're gonna do it in Texas when we get to Texas [on the current Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival], but who knows?! I may change my mind at the last minute."
Zombie recently gave an update on the progress of his next movie as a writer and director, "Broad Street Bullies", about the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team of the 1970s that were famous for beating the Soviet Union's team at the time and notorious for their violent tactics on the ice. Zombie said about the project, "As of right now, the script is done, 'cause that was a long process, putting a script together. And we're just sort of putting the financing together, putting the structure of the film together, all the boring stuff, and also beginning the early process of casting, trying to figure out who's gonna play who and what's gonna happen."
Zombie plans to shoot most of the movie in Philadelphia.
Zombie's most recent film, "The Lords Of Salem", will be out on Blu-ray and DVD on September 3.
Zombie's fifth solo album, "Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor", was released in April and entered the Billboard album chart at No. 7 with first-week sales of 34,000 copies.

Video: KING DIAMOND Performs At Slovenia's METALDAYS Festival
Profanity TV has uploaded video footage of KING DIAMOND's July 26 performance at the Metaldays festival in Tolmin, Slovenia. Check it out below.
KING DIAMOND in December signed a new three-album worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records.
After a six-year touring hiatus, KING DIAMOND triumphantly returned to the stage in 2012 for European festivals Hellfest and Sweden Rock.
King, 56, whose real name is Kim Bendix Petersen, underwent open-heart triple-bypass surgery in November 2010. He has since completed his cardiac rehabilitation program and has stopped smoking entirely, changed his diet and is getting regular exercise.
In a February 2013 interview with Metal Sucks, King Diamond stated: "I had to change my diet and become a nutritional expert, eat much better food. I stopped smoking; haven't had a drag. [My wife] Livia quit, too. We walk at least five days a week.
"I felt the benefits during two shows we did [last year]. My voice is now clearer than when I started singing. It was like always driving a used car and suddenly you have enough money to buy a new car. It felt brand new! That's how my voice feels.
"I breathe different now than I used to. In the past [when we played live], it would been like [makes a gasping noise]. Now I go off stage and start talking to close friends…. I feel like I used to live in a house with ten windows and now I have twenty windows in the house. There's so much I can see and I pay more attention to what I do see.

METALLICA: 'Through The Never (Music From The Motion Picture)' To Be Released In September
METALLICA has revealed the details of "Metallica Through The Never (Music From The Motion Picture)", the soundtrack companion to the forthcoming groundbreaking 3D feature film "Metallica Through The Never". The two-disc CD set will be released on the band's own record label Blackened Recordings on September 24 and highlights last year's career spanning sets at Rexall Place in Edmonton and Rogers Arena in Vancouver, where the band filmed all performance footage featured in the film. The soundtrack is available for digital pre-order tonight at midnight EST and both the CD and digital album will be available at all retailers. There will also be a vinyl edition of the soundtrack album available in both 33 1/3RPM and special limited numbered 45RPM versions later in the fall.
"Let's hear it for the old-school soundtrack!" said METALLICA's Lars Ulrich. Not only are we beyond psyched about our movie coming your way shortly, but the fact that we get to share the music directly in all these formats is way fuckin' cool."
"Metallica Through The Never" stars METALLICA, one of the most popular, influential rock bands in history. In this music-driven, 3D motion picture event, award-winning filmmaker Nimród Antal immerses audiences in a bracing, raw and visceral cinematic experience with spectacular live performance footage of METALLICA's most iconic songs — created exclusively for film — combined with a bold, narrative story featuring imagery drawn from the band's trailblazing iconography. Dane DeHaan portrays Trip, a young roadie sent on an urgent mission, during METALLICA's roaring live set in front of a sold-out arena. The film features dazzling pyrotechnics, the most elaborate live-performance stage ever built and state-of-the-art 3-D photography, captured using up to 24 cameras simultaneously.

VITA NOVA Featuring Members Of FLOWING TEARS And VISIONS OF ATLANTIS To Release New Album In August; Lyric Video Online
International gothic symphonic metal project VITA NOVA, the brainchild of LA singer/songwriter VK Lynne and Italian guitarist/composer Federico Salerno, is set to release their debut CD of the same name this August.
Recorded entirely remotely, Vita Nova is the work of 13 artists from six different countries in a labor of love that nearly fell apart several times.
“Everyone’s schedule was already full with their own projects, so we were especially grateful when all the guest artists got on board without hesitation,” says VK. “However, we still had time differences, language barriers and budget restrictions to contend with, and pretty much everything that could go wrong, did, at one point or another, but still…we couldn’t deny that we had something here, so we pushed on.”
Lynne and Salerno wrote and orchestrated all the material, and gathered their wish list of guest singers and players to perform. Featured artists include:
- Maxi Nil (VISIONS OF ATLANTIS)
- Gogo Melone (LUNA OBSCURA)
- Iliana Tsakiraki (EX-MEDEN AGAN)
- Helen Vogt (FLOWING TEARS)
- Kerstin Bischof (EX- XANDRIA)
- Grace Meridan (CANDLELIT)
- Babis Nikou (ASTRAL DNA)
- Shane Gibson (EX-KORN, STORK).

LORD IMPALER Enlist New Guitarist
Aenaon recently joined LORD IMPALER as the second guitarist of the band. This is the first time they have a complete line up, after the release of their Twilight Wander demo back in 2001.
Guitarist Lord Nebulah comments: “We held the vision of Lord Impaler high and endured many difficulties for many years. It is delightful to finally reap the fruits of our efforts. Over the last year we found 3 new members, people we can call brothers, people who share our dream and vision, people who have this rare chemistry."
Singer Tragon added: "We feel so alive today, after twelve years of constantly seeking that which was missing, after twelve years of not giving up no matter how many lemons life handed us. And it was totally worth the wait, every single day of it. I feel it every time we get together and rehearse."
Lord Impaler is a melodic black metal band from Kastoria, northern Greece. The band recently released a new EP under the title Babylon Whore, available in digital format through Bandcamp, in CD-R as a split with ATHOS, and soon in tape format by the French Infernal Kommando recs., and is currently working on their second album, In Full Regalia.

BEAUTY IN THE SUFFERING In Mix Mode For Initial Digital Releases
BEAUTY IN THE SUFFERING, the newly launched studio project from producer, multi-instrumentalist, programmer, and vocalist Dietrich Thrall (MARAZENE), are officially in mix mode for music the band plans to introduce to fans starting this fall with the release of The Crazies.
"The pace is quickening as we begin the jog towards fall - these are exciting times and I am extremely happy to be with you all in the here and now," commented Dietrich on the bands official blog.
(Photo above - Beauty In The Suffering in post production at Pirated Sound Studios - Dietrich Thrall at left and Provo Provenzano on the right.)
The band is currently locked away with SKINLAB guitarist Provo Provenzano (RIKETS, EVERYBODY PANIC!) at Pirated Sounds Studio located in Oklahoma City, OK mixing the bands first three songs which will drop this fall. The band will immediately follow up the digitally released singles by beginning production on a full length debut album with a release date targeted for sometime in 2014.
After spending the majority of 2012 locked away in a personal studio writing, arranging, and programming 40+ songs, producer Dietrich Thrall began laying the foundation for a new musical manifesto. Chris Emery of AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE was immediately recruited and quickly tracked 7 songs in a marathon 15-hour drum session while Angel Bartolotta (DOPE, TEAM CYBERGEIST) contributed drums for The Crazies.
Dietrich (pronounced Dee-Trick) is best known for his co-founding and co-visionary role in the industrial-metal band Marazene (later called MARAZENE MACHINE) based in Chicago.
From managing the band during its most active and successful national touring years (2006-2008), to co-producing the band's critically hailed cover of MÖTLEY CRÜE's 'Live Wire' in 2011 as well as the band's lone official full-length album (MachiNation, 2006), to writing fan-favorite tracks such as 'Give', to guiding the band's philosophical and edgy lyrical approach ('AnTiThesis', 'Infidel Society'), to producing multiple videos for the band, Dietrich's contributions and influence are heavily noted. | 0

BRAND NEW MACHINE Announce New Drummer, Release New Song ‘Dust The Sky’
Dallas based hard rock outfit BRAND NEW MACHINE's new album, The Devil Made Me Do It, hit stores this week via Epochal Artist Records/Capitol Music Group. To celebrate the album's release the group is currently streaming the song ‘Dust The Sky’. The group has also announced the addition of drummer Seven Antonopoulos, formerly of OPIATE FOR THE MASSES, to the Brand New Machine ranks.
"We would like to welcome drummer Seven Antonopoulos to Brand New Machine. Seven is an incredible drummer and his style fits in perfectly with what we do," said bassist Wiley Oliver. "It's hard to compare us to other rock acts today because a lot of rock albums all sound the same. So many bands come and go chasing trends, but we've never jumped on any bandwagons. This music is a lifestyle and we wear it like a badge."
The Devil Made Me Do It was recorded at Validus Recording Studios in Los Angeles, CA under the watchful eye of producer/mixer Ryan Greene (ALICE COOPER, CHEAP TRICK). The album takes the band's hard-living lifestyle and mixes it with arena ready rock anthems to create a soundtrack for debauchery.
The Devil Made Me Do It tracklisting:
'Here I Am'
'Girls Like You'
'Devil Made me Do It'
'Dust The Sky'
'Here And Gone Today'
'Living for Another Day'
'Always On The Run'

ROTTREVORE To Release EP In August
Although the long-awaited comeback EP of US death metal act ROTTREVORE was recorded back in March 2011 and planned for a summer release through Xtreem Music, the fact is that several problems made it impossible until now. However, the band already made these tracks available on their website.
In August, this three-song EP titled Hung By The Eyesockets, recorded and produced by Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL) at Mana Recording Studio in Florida, will see the light on CD format, being followed, a couple of months later, by a very special vinyl version.
One of the problems that delayed this release was the cover artwork and after trying three artists, the band decided to use the skills of Juanjo Castellano who again proved to be one of the most renowned artists in extreme metal, creating another sick piece of art.
Originally entitled Blind Sided Attack, this EP changed its name to Hung By The Eyesockets, so for those who might think this is a different release, don't worry it's the same one. This release will coincide with Rottrevore's very first and only European appearance ever at KillTown Deathfest in Denmark on August 30th.

CATTLE DECAPITATION: 'Your Disposal' Video Released
"Your Disposal", the new video from San Diego-based deathgrind masters CATTLE DECAPITATION, can be seen below. The band worked with Mitch Massie once again to create an irreverent, grotesque clip.
Comments CATTLE DECAPITATION vocalist Travis Ryan: "Director Mitch Massie has presented us all with a bizarre retelling of the story of Adam and Eve using themes from our latest album, 'Monolith Of Inhumanity'. Here we see Eve giving birth to humanity, a living, breathing piece of primordial meat birthed into the dirt making its way through the garden of eden, hellbent on destruction... A clean and conscious monolith foretelling what could be possible given the fact that humans exhibit superior traits of intelligence, instead the earth is flooded with technological fallout and debris by the hands of man.
"This video is very much a prequel to our other videos 'Forced Gender Reassignment' and, of course, 'Kindgom Of Tyrants'."
The "Your Disposal" single features the B-side "An Exposition of Insides", which was previously available only as a Japanese bonus track on the band's most recent album, "Monolith Of Inhumanity". The single is available (both black and clear vinyl) for order on-line on IndieMerchStore.com for $5.50, as well as in a bundle with a t-shirt for $18.99. Fans attending this year's Summer Slaughter Tour can grab their copy at the band's merch booth throughout the tour.
Vocalist Travis Ryan comments: "We noticed a lot of people were dismayed to find out there was a track available out there on a Japanese version of 'Monolith Of Inhumanity' that nobody outside of Japan had ever heard before. When it hit YouTube, that's when we started getting emails from fans. We noticed the lyrics weren't inside that version or available anywhere at all so that gave us the idea of throwing it on a B-side and releasing a 7" vinyl single for 'Your Disposal' with the song 'An Exposition Of Insides'! We feel that 'Monolith' is the mother of all of our releases so far and I thought it'd be funny to make it look like she just squirted out a baby and that's what this little guy looks like."
CATTLE DECAPITATION's latest album, "Monolith Of Inhumanity", sold around 2,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 6 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
Released on May 8, 2012, "Monolith Of Inhumanity" was produced by Dave Otero of Denver's Flatline Audio and sees the band exploring innovative new techniques in songwriting without abandoning their signature formula of confrontational audio wreckage and self-loathing lyrical content.

CHIMAIRA: 'All That's Left Is Blood' Video Released
CHIMAIRA's video for the song "All That's Left Is Blood" can be seen below. The track comes off the band's seventh studio album, "Crown Of Phantoms", which will be released on July 30 via eOne Music.
Says CHIMAIRA vocalist Mark Hunter: "This video is the epitome of 'metal'. Headbanging and blood. What more do you need?"
CHIMAIRA will embark on the "Crown Of Phantoms" tour at the end of the month. Dates stretch coast to coast in the U.S. with support from THE BROWNING, THREAT SIGNAL and DARK SERMON.
The band recently made headlines by way of crowd-funding a fan version CD/DVD where they doubled their initial goal via IndieGoGo.
"Crown Of Phantoms" track listing:
01. The Machine
02. No Mercy
03. All That's Left Is Blood
04. I Despise
05. Plastic Wonderland
06. The Transmigration
07. Crown Of Phantoms
08. Spineless
09. Kings Of The Shadow World
10. Wrapped In Violence
11. Love Soaked Death
In a recent interview with Ghost Cult, Hunter stated about CHIMAIRA's new CD: "'Crown Of Phantoms' is the culmination of three years of going through tons of changes, harsh realities but also excitement. It's something brand new and when you put all those things together you get 'Crown Of Phantoms' as a result. These are exciting times for the band and it's the polar opposite of where I was with the band two years ago.
Regarding whether he thought of packing it in after the numerous lineup changes that CHIMAIRA went through since the release of 2011's "The Age Of Hell", Hunter said: "Many people on the Internet thought we were done for. By the timing and the speed things were unraveling, I had the luxury of not thinking rationally and I simply soldiered on. It was happening so fast and not thinking about quitting was a sort of defense in a way. I defended what I hold dear and what I wanted to fight for. Of course there were moments of insecurity and doubts. Luckily, I had a good team and a good support system of friends and family around me telling me that I was crazy if I wanted to change the band name or quit altogether. They pointed out that bands like MEGADETH and BLACK SABBATH went through countless lineup changes. BLACK SABBATH had a super successful era without Ozzy. Of course, with MEGADETH, 'Rust In Peace' was one of their best albums and it wasn't recorded with the same lineup who did 'Peace Sells', which is another MEGADETH classic. There are more examples of bands that went through major lineup changes and still had major success. Of course, to be in this situation is scary as hell. | 0

DEVILDRIVER: New Song 'The Appetite' Available For Streaming
"The Appetite", a brand new song from Californian metallers DEVILDRIVER, can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below. The track comes off the band's sixth album, "Winter Kills", which will be released on August 27 via Napalm Records. The instrumental parts for the CD were recorded at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida while the vocals were laid down at singer Dez Fafara's home studio, with Mark Lewis (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, WHITECHAPEL, ALL THAT REMAINS) handling production duties. The album's cover artwork features a photograph by Dean Karr. The layout was done by Ryan Clark of Invisible Creature.
"Winter Kills" will be made available in four configurations, including a deluxe digibook with CD (including two bonus tracks, "Shudder" and "Back Down To The Grave") and live DVD (featuring 45 minutes of live raw DEVILDRIVER power — no studio overdubs at all, just the band at their best — and including fan favorites "Clouds Over California" and "The Wretched"), standard CD version, digital version and, for the first time in DEVILDRIVER history, a 2LP gatefold edition.
"Winter Kills" is now available for pre-order on iTunes. Pre-ordering the album entitles you to an instant grat track download of "Ruthless".
Exclusive pre-order bundle packages for "Winter Kills" are now available at IndieMerch.com. These bundle packages include designs and items that are unavailable anywhere else.
"Winter Kills" track listing:
01. The Oath
02. Ruthless
03. Desperate Times
04. Winter Kills
05. The Appetite
06. Gutted
07. Curses And Epitaph's
08. Caring's Overkill
09. Hunting Refrain
10. Tripping Over Tombstones
11. Sail
12. Shudder (deluxe-digibook bonus track)
13. Back Down To The Grave (deluxe-digibook bonus track)
DEVILDRIVER previously worked with Lewis on 2011's "Beast" and 2007's "The Last Kind Words".
Comments Fafara: "This is by far DEVILDRIVER's most cohesive, powerful, groove-laden record to date! We delivered our signature California groove sound alongside a raw and biting guitar tone, mixed it with massive hooks, added in thunderous drums to rethink, and reshape another different sounding unique piece of rock and roll!
"Cutting our own path is something to be proud of.
"DEVILDRIVER has always and will forever be about thinking outside the box and delivering on something different from record to record. We cannot be assimilated into any scene or even genre of metal, and we will continue to do things our own way with a massive middle finger in the air to the status quo!"
In an interview with Loudwire, Fafara stated about the musical direction of the band's next CD, "Every record is different. That being said, I thought 'Pray For Villains' was kind of an out-of-the-box record for us. I thought 'Beast' was a weird out-of-the-box record for us. We've kind honed back in to where we are. This new record sounds a lot like the first three records. It's got an intense groove to it, and I'm really happy. The writing is going extremely well. That being said, I think we've laid back on our laurels right now and be like, 'We're a groove band.' The fans started calling us 'the groove machine, The California groove machine.' Everybody needs a title; we'll take that one and we're going to give them that on the new record, for sure."
DEVILDRIVER's fifth album, "Beast", sold a little over 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 42 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Says Steamhammer/SPV A&R representative Georg Schröder: "There’s no doubt that BETZEFER is one of the premier metal acts — not only in Israel, where the guys also host the weekly BETZEFER's 'Headbangers Ball' on MTV.
"Full-length number 3 is packed with super-heavy but groovy metal stuff and we can't wait to release 'The Devil Went Down To The Holy Land' within Europe."
BETZEFER started recording "The Devil Went Down To The Holy Land" last September with longtime producer Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, SICK OF IT ALL, MNEMIC).
BETZEFER's debut album, "Down Low", was released in 2005 via Roadrunner Records. The band's energetic brand of metal was previously described as a mixture of SEPULTURA and PANTERA and was said to be "packed with aggression."
Prior to issuing "Down Low" through Roadrunner, BETZEFER released three EPs: "Pitz Aachbar" (2000), "Some Tits, But No Bush" (2001) and "New Hate" (2003).
