DEMONIC RESURRECTION: New Album Artwork Unveiled
 Mumbai, India-based metallers DEMONIC RESURRECTION have revealed the cover artwork for their new album, "The Return To Darkness", in the YouTube clip below. The artwork was created by Xaay, who has previously worked with NILE, KARL SANDERS, NECROPHAGIST and BEHEMOTH.

DE PROFUNDIS: \'A Bleak Reflection\' Trailer Posted Online
 London, U.K.-based progressive extreme metal band DE PROFUNDIS will release its second album, "A Bleak Reflection", on February 1, 2010 via
Kolony Records. The CD was recorded in June/July 2009 with producer Fernando Pereira Lopes (MISANTHROPE, ORAKLE) and was mastered by Tim Turan (EMPEROR, OPETH, MOTÖRHEAD).
"A Bleak Reflection" will come with a 12-page booklet, created by artist Darryll Jones, that hints at the concept behind the album's lyrics. DE PROFUNDIS guitarist Roman Subbotin commented, "[The new album] represents a significant moment for our musical evolution. We've all worked really hard and, in my humble opinion, achieved rather spectacular results."

TARJA TURUNEN Continues Work On New Solo Album
 TARJA TURUNEN (ex-NIGHTWISH) has issued the following blog entry:
My Xmas tour is happily over. The concert in Seinäjoki was a great success and it was just wonderful to sing in the famous church of Lakeuden risti, which is designed by Alvar Aalto. The acoustics in that church is amazing. I felt like singing in a huge cathedral.
People seemed to be happy to receive us there and we saw that many music lovers attended the event. It was sad though to end the successful tour with Kalevi, Marzi and Markku, but I am sure we will be working together pretty soon again. I wish them all best of luck for their new challenges. I also want to thank for the great collaboration once again. It was fantastic opportunity to sing with you guys!
I had two days of rehearsals with the orchestra Globalis and conductor Anton Shaburov.
It was great to see how enthusiastic the players were to play my songs. I was truly surprised by their attitude and talent.
The venue was not exactly what I had in my mind for an Xmas concert with an orchestra, but the local promoters wanted to make the show there. I discovered that not many people were aware that I was going to perform an Xmas concert program!!
I still hope people were happily surprised by my concert.
The night itself was an amazing experience for me personally, since is always beautiful to sing in front of an orchestra and the audience was just overwhelmingly warm to us. So many smiles and happy faces!
Thank you once again Russia for a great support and love. As I promised, I will be back very soon with my new album and band.
Thanks Tommi for the gorgeous lights and Pete for the crystal clear sound! Here we stopped at the Kremlin after the concert and few glasses of red wine.
Now there is no time to waste; even a day, since I am going to be working hard with the new songs for What Lies Beneath. Next time I’ll write about how things are going with the album pre-production. Exciting times ahead of us!

THRESHOLD, EPICA, MASTERPLAN Members Perform At 2nd Christmas Metal Symphony; Video Available
 A star-studded cast of renowned hard rock and heavy metal musicians performed on Sunday at the 013 in Tilburg, Netherlands at the second Christmas Metal Symphony show, opening with THRESHOLD's Damian Wilson performing 'This Is Your Life' backed by a full band and 30 piece orchestra.

ECHOES OF ETERNITY - Two New Songs Available For Streaming
 Los Angeles’ female-fronted progressive metal band ECHOES OF ETERNITY are now streaming the songs 'Descent Of A Blackened Soul' and 'Funeral In The Sky' on their official MySpace page, found here. Both tracks are taken from their new album As Shadows Burn.
The band recently commented on their upcoming tour dates with labelmates HAMMERFALL:

BLEED FROM WITHIN Mixing Sophomore Album
 Hamilton, Scotland-based metal quintet BLEED FROM WITHIN is currently mixing its sophomore album at Outhouse Studios in Reading for an early 2010 release via Rising Records. The band says, "[The people at Outhouse] have worked with bands such as ARCHITECTS, THE ARUSHA ACCORD, YOU ME AT SIX and ENTER SHIKARI, [and] we are confident that they will provide the sound we are aiming to capture on this record! We will also be shooting a new music video in January for one of the new songs on the record which we are looking forward to!
"If you've made it along to any of these shows we've just played then you would have had a sneak preview of what's to come as we have been playing a new song 'The Novelist'."
BLEED FROM WITHIN entered the studio for the first time in November 2005 to record the self-released five-track EP "In The Eyes of the Forgotten" which was then followed by 2007's "Welcome to the Plague Year", released through Bath-based independent record label Four Aces.

FEJD: Demo Version Of New Song Posted Online
 FEJD, the Swedish folk rock/metal band featuring members of NOSTRADAMEUS and PATHOS, has issued the following update:
"We decided to give you something to listen to when Christmas draws near. The song is called 'Farväl' which means farewell and it was a DEMO that we recorded for the Swedish part of the European Song Contest. This song is not representative for the coming album but it will most lightly be on it. As we needed female vocals on this one, we talked to our favourite girl to do the honour and Elina Tervonen gave the song the spirit we wanted with her fantastic voice. Until we have the new album out we really hope that you can and will enjoy 'Farväl'."

METALLICA\'s \'Black\' LP Is Top-Selling Album Of SOUNDSCAN Era
 METALLICA's self-titled album from 1991 (also known as the "black" album) has surpassed SHANIA TWAIN's 1997 CD "Come On Over" to become the best-selling album since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales for Billboard on May 25, 1991.
"Metallica" has sold 15,490,000 copies. "Come On Over" has sold 15,487,000.

TETHRA Working On Material For Debut Mini-CD
 TETHRA, the new Italian death/doom metal project featuring former members of GORY BLISTER, VEXED and MALUS VIVENDI, is currently writing material for its debut mini-CD. The effort will be recorded with producer Ossian, better known as the mastermind of the long-running Italian band OPERA IX.
According to a press release, TETHRA "is a project formed by musicians already known in the Italian metal scene since many years. The band revisits that particular sound dear to old MY DYING BRIDE and CANDLEMASS, in a modern and original way, also adding the wickedness typical of the first wave of Swedish death."

STRUCTURE OF INHUMANITY: First Track Posted Online
 STRUCTURE OF INHUMANITY, the melodic power/death metal band featuring main songwriter and keyboardist Jonah Weingarten (PYRAMAZE, ECHOTERRA), vocalist Clay Barton (SUSPYRE), bassist Noah Martin (ARSIS), and up-and-coming guitarist Mike Iuzzolino, has posted its first track, "The Passing Phase", on the group's MySpace page. The song comes off the band's debut, entitled "Completion Integration", which was co-produced by James Murphy (TESTAMENT, DEATH, OBITUARY) and Peter Wichers (SOILWORK), both of whom also make guest appearances on the effort. Murphy also mixed and mastered the CD, the drum tracks for which were laid down by former FIREWIND skinsman Brian Harris.

AEROSMITH\'s STEVEN TYLER Enters Rehab For Painkiller Addiction
 People.com reports that AEROSMITH lead singer Steven Tyler has entered a rehab facility for pain management and an addiction to prescription painkillers resulting from 10 years of performance injuries.
"With the help of my family and team of medical professionals, I am taking responsibility for the management of my pain and am eager to be back on the stage and in the recording studio with my bandmates Joe Perry, Joey Kramer, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford," Tyler says in a statement released to People.com.

DISBELIEF: 20th-Anniversary Album Detailed
 German death metallers DISBELIEF have set "Heal!" as the title of their forthcoming 20th-anniversary album, due in April 2010 via Massacre Records. The CD will contain seven songs, including three cover versions:
* KILLING JOKE - "A Love Like Blood"
* KING DIAMOND - "Welcome Home"
* CRIMSON GLORY - "Red Sharks"
The first album to be recorded and mixed by the DISBELIEF members themselves, "Heal!" will feature four original compositions:
* Certainty Of Reality
* The Eyes of Horror
* The Last Force: Attack!
* Isolation
According to a press release, "DISBELIEF are seeing this songs as a homage to the following bands: SLAYER, CROWBAR, DEATH and BOLT THROWER. With these songs DISBELIEF want to show their honestly respect for these bands."
"Heal!" will be released with a bonus DVD containing live footage.
DISBELIEF recently tapped session guitarist Alex Hagenauer (SOUL DEMISE) for its upcoming "Hell Goes On Tour 2010" with LAY DOWN ROTTEN and GORILLA MONSOON.

NEGURA BUNGET: New Album Track Listing Revealed
 NEGURA BUNGET — the Romanian band that incorporates elements of black metal, progressive metal, folk metal and dark ambient — has finished recording its new album, "Vîrstele Pamîntului" (English translation: The Ages of the Land/Earth). Due in late March via Code666 Records as a special limited-edition handmade woodbox, roped and filled with the very earth of the place it comes from, the CD was tracked at Negura Music studio under the supervision of sound engineer Mihai Toma. The group states in a press release, "'Vîrstele Pamîntului' is an album about embracing your destiny, about choosing and consciously assuming a way of life. The earth is where we came from and where go back into, the one from above and beyond us. Understanding and respecting it is understanding yourself, your purpose and destiny. WARMEN To Play Special 10-Year Anniversary Show; New Compilation CD In The Works
 WARMEN, the brainchild of CHILDREN OF BODOM keyboardist Janne Wirman, will celebrate its 10-year anniversary with a concert during the Helsinki Metal Meeting weekend on February 18, 2010 at Dante's Highlight in Helsinki Finland. As if WARMEN's third live performance ever wouldn't be enough to make this a very special event, the band vows to make the show truly a night to remember by bringing a wide variety of guests on stage.

HANK SHERMANN\'s DEMONICA: Debut Album Due In February
 DEMONICA, the solo project of MERCYFUL FATE guitarist Hank Shermann, will release its debut album, "Demonsotrous", on February 26, 2010 via Massacre Records. The CD was mixed at Flatline Audio in Denver, Colorado with Dave Otero (CEPHALIC CARNAGE, MARTRIDEN, COBALT).
"We are totally stoked how this turned out and can't wait to get it out there," says Hank. "These 10 songs are the most thrashy and brutal songs I have ever played."
"We chose Dave for his extra edge and experience working with some of the most grinding bands around. We wanted a different approach to the mix than the standard these days, [and] he really nailed it."

LIVING SACRIFICE: \'Rules Of Engagement\' Video Released
 "Rules Of Engagement", the new video from the reunited Little Rock, Arkansas-based Christian death/thrash/metalcore band LIVING SACRIFICE, can be viewed below. The song comes off the group's new album, "The Infinite Order", which will be released on January 26, 2010 via Solid State Records. The group's first CD since reforming in 2008 and seventh studio album overall was produced in Nashville, Tennessee and Little Rock, Arkansas by the band's longtime friend Jeremiah Scott (THE SHOWDOWN, DESTROY DESTROY DESTROY). MESHUGGAH: Official \'Alive\' DVD Trailer Now Available
 Swedish experimental extreme metallers MESHUGGAH will release their first-ever DVD, "Alive", in the U.S. and Canada on February 9, 2010. Produced and directed by Ian McFarland of Killswitch Productions, the DVD is comprised of live concert footage of the band performing tracks off their Billboard Top 200-charting 2008 release, "obZen", and their time-tested career staples shot during MESHUGGAH's 2009 North American tour and 2008's performance at the Loud Park festival in Tokyo. The result is a visceral, visual abduction into the band's metric insanity-in-action. Gracefully interlacing the live tracks are behind-the-scenes vignettes shot in black and white that give "Alive" a concert film feel that is unlike many of the live DVDs currently on the market.

ELUVEITIE: \'Thousandfold\' Video Released
 "Thousandfold", the new video from the Swiss folk metal band ELUVEITIE, can be viewed below. The clip was directed by the highly acclaimed production company Grupa 13, which previously worked on the controversial BEHEMOTH video "Ov Fire And The Void".

SABATON: New Album Title, Cover Artwork Unveiled
 Swedish metallers SABATON have set "Coat Of Arms" as the title of their fifth album, due in the spring via Nuclear Blast Records.
The cover artwork for the CD can be viewed below. Also available is an audio sample of a self-produced demo track that will appear on the upcoming album.

MÅNEGARM: \'Vetrarmegin\' Video Released
 "Vetrarmegin" (English translation: Winter Force), the new video from the Swedish "Viking metal" act MÅNEGARM, can be viewed below. The clip was shot in a "Viking village" near the band's hometown, Norrtälje, with an "incredible pre-renaissance atmosphere." The group states, "The Viking village, with its amazing surroundings, will fit the theme of the video just perfect!!"
The video was helmed by Sweden's Standard Film Team, which has previously worked with DARK FUNERAL, PLECTOR and ZONARIA.

MNEMIC: Another New Song Available For Streaming
 A new MNEMIC song entitled "March Of The Tripods" is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page. The track comes off the Danish modern metallers' forthcoming fourth studio album, "Sons Of The System", which is scheduled for release in Europe on January 15, 2010 and in North America on January 26, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was recorded at MNEMIC's own studio and at the Antfarm facility in Aarhus, Denmark with Danish producer Tue Madsen (HALFORD, BEHEMOTH, KATAKLYSM, THE HAUNTED), who previously helmed the group's "Mechanical Spin Phenomena" (2003) and "The Audio Injected Soul" (2004) CDs.
