ACHERONTAS To Release Psychic Death - The Shattering Of Perceptions Album In April; Video Trailer
Greek occult black metallers with retro rock influences, Acherontas, have revealed details surrounding their eighth studio album, Psychic Death - The Shattering Of Perceptions. The album is slated for an April 24 release via Agonia Records. Pre-order the album in various formats here, and watch a video trailer below.
Mysticism, magic, occult arts and rituals, all of which are driving factors behind Acherontas, are also the most adequate words that can be used to describe the band's image, sound and lyrics. The band is considered as one of the leading representatives of the New Wave of Greek Black Metal, heavily influenced by the original Hellenic metal scene, retro rock (especially the 70's rock) and eastern philosophy.
Acherontas was brought to life in 1996 by V.Priest and was ever since true to its internal tenets and traditions, which deemed the band as a "Magical Coven, dedicated to the Ancient Summerian Mysteries of Drakonian Blood". According to the band, "many traditions embracee these ancient sources as footprints and take form in our Void as Astral Vampirism, Hermeticism, Kabbalah, Dream Workings and Luciferian Magic". V. Priest continues, "true sorcery is not an art, it's science... in order to dare, we must know; in order to will, we must dare. We must will to possess empire and to reign we must be silent. We are real to those with eyes to see.”
Psychic Death - The Shattering Of Perceptions was recorded in Grecce, Germany and UK, at the band's own studios (the "Coven’s Corridors of Wilderness"). The album was produced, mixed and mastered at Pentagram Studio by George Emmanuel (Lucifer's Child, ex-Rotting Christ). Cover artwork was prepared by Chris Undirheimar of Blood and Fire Ritual Art studio.
Acherontas commented on the new album: "Two years after the release of Faustian Ethos the coven of Acherontas returns with a monumental album, delivering the most mature, potent and diverse offering throughout a vibrant discography of 23 years up to date, fulfilling the promises left abound with closure of the triptych Psychic Death. The shattering of Perceptions and the unfolding of the Psyche. A manifest of sound, spirit and matter, blending across the ancient routes of divination. Across all the cardinal directions, the core elements of the Psychic structure detonate and flourish, risen and aflame as a newborn supernova, embedding axioms and attributes on the vital points of existence, on the ethers as in the depths. The uncharted map of man’s subtle anatomy becomes flooded with the governing universal force of Vitae, the arrows of Life, the nectars of Death and the flames of Rebirth. The crystal halls of the Psyche reverberate, once more, with a monumental milestone to glorify the Ascension to Godhood, the Devil and the Inner Demon. Expect a fierce return deep into the roots of the 90s that we had grown up and evolved through the Black Arts... No more words... Actions define Men and the Brave Spirits".
On top of that, Agonia Records label manager commented: "It's definitely a milestone album in Acherontas' career."

FALCONER To Begin Recording New Album In February
Long running Swedish folk metal pioneers, Falconer, will head back into the studio in February to record a new full length. The album is yet untitled but will consist of a total of 13 songs, including bonus tracks. Expect folkish power metal with a velvet voice to crown it.
Comments mainman/guitarist Stefan Weinerhall: "This time around we have a few instrument surprises as a treat, something that has been a wish for a long time finally happening! It is due time for a new album after a 6 year wait. In the meantime we did our last and final live show at Prog Power USA in 2015."
Once again, Falconer will be entering Sonic Train Studios with Andy La Rocque (King Diamond) as engineer. Jan Meininghaus will, as always, do the cover art.
"We are really looking forward to it, in a way it feels like going back home again!"

BOBBY 'BLITZ' ELLSWORTH, MIKE PORTNOY, PHIL DEMMEL And MARK MENGHI Join Forces In BPMD: 'American Made' Album Due Soon
Former MACHINE HEAD and current VIO-LENCE guitarist Phil Demmel spoke to "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show" about his soon-to-be-released collaboration with drummer Mike Portnoy (ex-DREAM THEATER), vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth (OVERKILL) and bassist Mark Menghi (METAL ALLEGIANCE). "It's called BPMD," he said. "So it's Bobby Blitz, Mike Portnoy, Mark Menghi and Phil Demmel — BPMD. It's all cover tunes from American bands of the '70s. It's called 'American Made', [and it's got songs from] ZZ TOP, LYNYRD SKYNYRD, JAMES GANG, AEROSMITH, GRAND FUNK RAILROAD — all these cover tunes that we modernized them and not really thrashed them up, but we made kind of metal versions of them. And we think we found maybe a label home, and we're looking to put the record out here probably at the end of the first quarter, maybe beginning of second quarter. It's all up in the air right now."
Asked who came up with the idea to make an LP of 1970s rock covers, Demmel said: "Mark Menghi did. He said he was around his campfire listening to a SKYNYRD song, and he's all, 'Hey, I wanna record this and get some guys.' And he called us up. I flew out to Portnoy's house, and we had the songs we picked. Each of us picked two, and then we had two songs that were kind of band picks that we needed to do. And we flew out to Portnoy's house in Pennsylvania. I flew in one day, did tracks, flew out the next day, went home and recorded guitar tracks and solos in a day. And the guys did their other tracks. We got it done pretty fucking quick."
Pressed to name his favorite song from "American Made", Demmel said: "I'm gonna have to say… There's a sleeper track. It's a BLUE ÖYSTER CULT song called 'Tattoo Vampire' that I picked. And Buck Dharma from BLUE ÖYSTER CULT actually played on the song. And it's got kind of a punky feel. 'Cause the original track is kind of rock and roll, but Menghi or Portnoy had this idea to make it kind of a RAMONES feel. So we picked it up. So, 'Tattoo Vampire' is my favorite."
Last year, Demmel told Bax Music that the BPMD recording experience marked the first time he had tracked rhythm guitars in 13 years. "In MACHINE HEAD, Robb [Flynn] was tracking all the rhythms after 'The Blackening', or pretty much during 'The Blackening' on," he said. "And it was exciting for me to be able to be the only guitar player and track the rhythms and do all the solos."
Ellsworth told Underground's Voice that his collaboration with Demmel, Portnoy and Menghi was "a fun project. It was kind of a summertime hobby project," he said. "We took American bands that were done in the '70s and thrashed up the approach. GRAND FUNK [RAILROAD]'s '[We're An] American Band'; MOUNTAIN; CACTUS; BLUE ÖYSTER CULT. We put the MACHINE HEAD, SONS OF APOLLO, METAL ALLEGIANCE, OVERKILL spin on the whole thing. It's a cool project."
Demmel, Portnoy, Ellsworth and Menghi previously performed together in METAL ALLEGIANCE, the all-star collective that is anchored by Menghi, Portnoy, MEGADETH's David Ellefson and TESTAMENT's Alex Skolnick. In addition to their semi-frequent live appearances with the group, Demmel played on three tracks on METAL ALLEGIANCE's 2015 self-titled debut, while Ellsworth contributed vocals to one song on the project's 2018 sophomore effort, "Volume II: Power Drunk Majesty". | +7

CANDLEMASS To Release 'The Pendulum' EP In March
Grammy-nominated classic doom icons CANDLEMASS will release a new EP, "The Pendulum", on March 27 via Napalm Records. The effort is fully comprised of never-before-heard, unused tracks cut from "The Door To Doom" recording sessions.
"The Pendulum" perfectly showcases that these timeless Swedish pioneers are the undisputed kings of epic doom. The opener/title track "The Pendulum" charges in with a melodic, head-swinging, thrashy rush — setting the stage for the raw, unfiltered steamrolling demo cuts to follow.
Says band mastermind Leif Edling: "'The Pendulum' is about hard riffing, epic choruses and total delusion the fanatical way. It is, in fact, the last thing I wrote for 'The Door To Doom' album but didn't have the time to finish it. Here it is in its grand/mad luster with a great mix by Niklas Flyckt, and produced by Marcus Jidell. It is followed by five unreleased demos from 'The Door To Doom' sessions because the whole sha-bang was at first supposed to be a double effort but got trimmed down to a single album eventually.
"I love 'The Pendulum' track — album quality if you ask me, and songs like 'Porcelain Skull' and 'Snakes Of Goliath' are not bad either. They just didn't make it to the final thing. So I hope you like this EP that features the 'missing' songs. The last pieces of the puzzle of the one-year recording that became the album 'The Door To Doom'. Enjoy."
"The Pendulum" track listing:
01. The Pendulum
02. Snakes Of Goliath
03. Sub Zero
04. Aftershock
05. Porcelain Skull
06. The Cold Room
This six-track EP leads the listener through a maze of frenzied riffing, accented by Johan Langquist's distinctive vocals and the unique, melancholy sound that has proven CANDLEMASS to be a heavy metal staple.
CANDLEMASS is:
Leif Edling: Bass
Mats "Mappe" Björkman: Guitars
Jan Lindh: Drums
Lars "Lasse" Johansson: Guitars
Johan Langquist: Vocals

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH: 'Full Circle' Lyric Video
The official lyric video for "Full Circle", a brand new song from FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's eighth album, "F8", due on February 28 via Better Noise Music.
The LP will be available in the following formats: CD, digital download, mastered for iTunes download, double gatefold vinyl and picture disc vinyl. The band also curated special "F8" merchandise bundles of albums with exclusive t-shirts, hoodies and more available for pre-order now as well.
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Zoltan Bathory said: "We had an extremely successful, yet tumultuous couple of years as a band. We didn't just weather the storm but came out on the other side better than ever. It was a focused sober group recording, our most important album to date and without a question it shows. This album represents rebirth, progression, transcendence both personally and musically." Vocalist Ivan Moody added: "This record to me is 'absolution' — everything I've done in my life has led up to this moment."
"F8" track listing:
01. F8
02. Inside Out
03. Full Circle
04. Living The Dream
05. A Little Bit Off
06. Bottom Of The Top
07. To Be Alone
08. Mother May I (Tic Toc)
09. Darkness Settles In
10. This Is War
11. Leave It All Behind
12. Scar Tissue
13. Brighter Side Of Grey
14. Making Monsters (bonus)
15. Death Punch Therapy (bonus)
16. Inside Out (radio edit) (bonus)
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's new disc was once again helmed by Kevin Churko, the Canadian record producer/engineer and songwriter who currently lives in Las Vegas, where he works out of his private studio, The Hideout Recording Studio.
Bathory recently said that the band's new LP could be its best yet. He said: "We have a little pie that we belong to in the musical spectrum, and within that, the grooves — there are these big, nasty grooves that feel just heavier and grimier, and that's kind of what's happening. The energy of what's in the band now is affecting this process."
The drums on the disc were laid down by Charlie "The Engine" Engen, who made his live debut with the group during its fall 2018 tour with BREAKING BENJAMIN. He stepped in for original drummer Jeremy Spencer, who left the band in December 2018 due to a back injury.
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH recently announced the dates for a new spring North American tour. The trek kicks off on April 8 in Sunrise, Florida, winding down on May 20 in St. Paul, Minnesota. PAPA ROACH, I PREVAIL and ICE NINE KILLS will join FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH on the upcoming road trip. | +6

BLUE ÖYSTER CULT To Release New Live Album, '40th Anniversary - Agents Of Fortune - Live 2016'
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of its widely celebrated album "Agents Of Fortune", BLUE ÖYSTER CULT performed the seminal album in its glorious entirety at an exclusive concert for the Audience Music Network on Monday April 18, 2016 at Red Studios in Hollywood, California in front of an intimate audience of invited guests. The performance was recorded by an army of cameramen for a DirectTV special, that is now being released on CD/DVD, Blu-ray, and vinyl on March 6 via Frontiers Music Srl.
The intense creative vision of BÖC's original core duo of vocalist and lead guitarist Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser, and vocalist and rhythm guitarist Eric Bloom are complemented by Richie Castellano on guitar and keyboards, and the longtime rhythm section comprised of bass guitarist Kasim Sulton, and drummer Jules Radino. As a special guest, founding member Albert Bouchard appears on guitar, percussion, and vocals on selected tracks, which was a real treat for longtime fans of the band.
BLUE ÖYSTER CULT's fourth album, "Agents Of Fortune" was originally released in 1976 and went on to achieve platinum sales status on the strength of songs such as "(Don't Fear) The Reaper", which was easily the band's biggest hit. Tinged with a more commercial sound that preserves the band's heavy metal base, while exploring new and varied musical forms, "Agents Of Fortune" was the band's breakthrough album. Nothing they had produced previously prepared listeners for the level of sophistication the group found on "Agents Of Fortune" and it's both an essential document of the band and an iconic release of '70s rock in general.
Also on March 6, Frontiers will reissue "Heaven Forbid", the band's thirteenth studio album, in all territories outside North and South America. Originally released on March 24, 1998 in Europe, it was the band's first full studio album containing original material since 1988's "Imaginos". Science fiction author John Shirley contributed heavily to the album, writing lyrics for all except two original songs. A live version of the track "In Thee" was included as well. "Heaven Forbid" is one classy slab of hard rock featuring intricate arrangements, provocative lyrics, and spine-tingling guitar solos. The rockers sound in top form on this full blown (at the time) return album, whether on the thrash-y and menacing opener "See You In Black", the sci-fi epic "X-Ray Eyes", or the mythical and atmospheric "Harvest Moon".

STONE SOUR Releases Demo Version Of 'Idle Hands' Song
STONE SOUR has released a demo version of the song "Idle Hands". The track originally appeared on the band's self-titled debut album, which came out in 2002.
In a statement accompanying the YouTube release of the demo, STONE SOUR guitarist Josh Rand wrote: "Back in 1995 I was discouraged with where I thought the music industry was going. I decided to stop playing guitar and pursue other interests (arena football) for the next few years. Then in 1998 I tore up my ankle really badly, consequently had surgery and could barely walk for about the next 4 years. This put an end to my athletic dreams and I started playing guitar again. Which brings us to this next song 'Idle Hands', the 1st song I wrote when I picked up the guitar again. Recorded in 2000 for Project X demos, and it later became known as [singer] Corey's [Taylor] best interpretive dance."
Rand recently said that he has "no idea" when STONE SOUR will release a new studio album. Asked in an interview with Guitar World if the band has started working yet on a follow-up to 2017's "Hydrograd", Rand replied: "To be honest, the band is on hiatus right now with no timetable on a return. It's a mixture of needing a break, plus Corey wants to do a solo album, so I don't know when there will be new STONE SOUR music."
Rand hinted that the band will release something next summer which he can't talk about yet, but also told The Pulse Of Radio he's working on another project to keep fans happy during the hiatus. "I archive like everything that we've done, so starting at the top of [2020], every week I'm going to release a demo or an alternate version of a song, starting from the very beginning. And then throughout the entire year will get us up to 'Hydrograd'. So I'm pretty excited about that."
STONE SOUR has been off the road and out of sight since completing the touring cycle for its 2017 LP "Hydrograd". Taylor has been working with SLIPKNOT since then, recording and currently touring behind that group's sixth effort, "We Are Not Your Kind". Rand is currently promoting STONE SOUR's new live album, "Hello, You Bastards: Live In Reno", which came out on December 13.
Taylor also recently told WhatCulture that he has already written 26 songs for his long-in-the-works solo album, which he has hinted at recording over the years. | +2

SEVENDUST's New Album Sounds Like 'A Combination' Of 'Animosity' And 'Seasons', Says CLINT LOWERY
SEVENDUST guitarist Clint Lowery has confirmed to Anne Erickson of Audio Ink Radio that the band has completed the recording process for its new album. The follow-up to 2018's "All I See Is War" was once again tracked at Studio Barbarosa in Gotha, Florida with producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette, who has previously worked with ALTER BRIDGE and SLASH, among others.
"We came straight off tour and straight into the studio, for the most part," Clint said (hear audio below). "So, we just figured we would get that record in the tank and just have a full break, and I think it worked out really good. Instead of waiting, then doing a full record and then going straight on the road, it was more of, like, 'Let's do the record and relax for a while.'"
Asked what the new SEVENDUST material sounds like, Clint said: "If you're familiar with our catalog, it's kind of a combination of 'Animosity' [2001] and 'Seasons' [2003]. I don't think it's the most aggressive thing that we've ever done. There's definitely parts of it that have that appeal and have a heavier edge to it, but there's a lot of melodic nature and a lot of melody. And Lajon [Witherspoon, vocals] is able to sing a lot more on it. So, I think if you like 'Animosity' and 'Seasons', you'll like this record a lot."
SEVENDUST's new disc will likely arrive this summer.
"All I See Is War" was released in May 2018. It marked the group's first album for Rise Records, the Oregon-based metal and hard rock label which was purchased by BMG in 2015.
SEVENDUST released four singles and videos from "All I See Is War": "Dirty", "Not Original", "Medicated" and "Risen".
In 2016, SEVENDUST received its first-ever Grammy nomination after two decades together as a band. "Thank You", the debut single from 2015's "Kill The Flaw", got the nod for "Best Metal Performance".

DYNAZTY Release "Presence Of Mind" Music Video
Dynazty have released a music video for "Presence Of Mind", a song from their upcoming new album, The Dark Delight, out on April 3 via AFM Records. Order the single here, and watch the new clip below.
“‘Presence Of Mind’ showcases the raw nature of our band and is just the kind of groovy and melodic onslaught of a song we always wanted to release as a first single.”
Formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 2008, Dynazty has since released six albums in a mere 10 year window. Straying from their early days of ‘80s influenced hard rock, the band has developed and refined their sound into something that merges the modern metal scene with the past, crafting something wholly unique.
Today the band is comprised of highly respected and sought after musicians, active on the metal scene in more than one way. Bassist Jonathan Olsson can also be seen in both Lindemann and Pain, guitarist Love Magnusson and drummer Georg Härnsten Egg frequently tours with rock legends such as Dee Snider and Joe Lynn Turner. Guitarist Mikael Lavér has been featured with both Lindemann and Joe Lynn Turner, while singer Nils Molin can be heard and seen around the globe with the ever rising star of fellow Swedish band Amaranthe.
Singer Nils Molin says about the album: “We pulled out all the stops, pulled no punches and held nothing back on this one. The Dark Delight is the complete vision of what this band has always wanted to be.”

Watch GODSMACK's SULLY ERNA Sing ALICE IN CHAINS' 'Man In The Box'
GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna made an appearance at this past Wednesday's (January 29) weekly "Soundcheck Live" event at Lucky Strike Live in Los Angeles, California. Erna joined event curator Nuno Bettencourt (EXTREME), along with Glen Sobel (drums), Derek Frank (bass) and Steve Fekete (guitar), on covers of ALICE IN CHAINS' "Man In The Box" and THE DOOBIE BROTHERS' "Long Train Running". Video footage of the performance can be seen below.
GODSMACK has often been compared with ALICE IN CHAINS, and some critics have even charged that GODSMACK got its name from the ALICE IN CHAINS song "God Smack" on that group's 1992 album "Dirt".
Erna admitted in a 1999 interview with Billboard magazine that ALICE IN CHAINS had been "a big influence" on his band. "I'd be lying if I said they weren't," he said. "There isn't any band that hasn't been influenced by someone."
As for the origin of GODSMACK's name, Erna explained: "We knew that 'God Smack' was the name of an ALICE IN CHAINS song, but we didn't name our band after that song. What happened was we were rehearsing one day and our drummer came in with this huge cold sore on his lip. I teased him and really gave him a hard time about it. But then the next day, by this weird coincidence, I happened to get a cold sore on my lip. And so one of the guys in the band said to me, 'See, God just smacked you on the head for all that [teasing].' We took it as a sign, so that's why we named the band GODSMACK."
Back in 2003, Erna said that his band is more original-sounding than they were being given credit for. When asked by Launch how he felt about the way the group was perceived by critics, Erna said: "I think the only misconception is that we were pegged as an ALICE IN CHAINS clone band at one time, which I don't get. I don't think we sound anything like them. I mean there's definitely influences there, but there's influence from [LED] ZEPPELIN and [BLACK] SABBATH and PANTERA, and everybody else. It's just that we're all molded from everybody from our past. These are some of the bands that we grew up listening to, or enjoy today, and sometimes it triggers an idea. So, there could be hints of influences there, but that kind of got on my nerves for a while. But with a name like GODSMACK, how could people not go there?" | +3

ROSS "THE BOSS" FRIEDMAN On Upcoming Born Of Fire Album - "I Never Repeat Myself Stylistically On Any Of My Records, Nor In My Years With MANOWAR"; Video
Ross “The Boss” Friedman and his band, Ross The Boss, will release their new album, Born Of Fire, on March 6 via AFM Records.
Jimmy Kay from Canada's The Metal Voice spoke to Ross “The Boss” Friedman, singer Marc Lopes, and bassist Mike Lepond when they played Foufounes Electriques in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on January 27.
About the musical direction and lyric themes of the new album, Friedman reveals: ""It's a little bit of a change, it's more upbeat, more energetic, it's more high energy. I would say there is a more of a thrash element cause of our singer Marc Lopes' influence. Two songs are thrash but the rest are just typical Ross The Boss. Bassist Mike Lepond also did an amazing job with the demos, with the songs and the arrangements. I never repeat myself stylistically on any of my records, nor in my years with Manowar."
Watch below:
One can’t talk about genre defining acts in the metal scene without mentioning one man: Ross “The Boss” Friedman has written music history as a founding member of Manowar and The Dictators. His influence in heavy metal and also punk is noticeable to this day.
Manowar’s first six masterpieces which saw him significantly involved in between 1982 and 1988 are immortal classics today, and that the band wasn’t able to deliver the same quality again after his departure speaks for the New York based guitarist and songwriter. Since 2006 Ross again is releasing traditional and raw epic metal which calls up memories of the Manowar masterpieces from the 80’s with its very own style.
The brand new album, Born Of Fire, is the fourth album from Friedman and his band, which arrives not even two years after their chart breaking 2018 effort, By Blood Sworn. While Ross The Boss used this time for extensive touring they built their latest epos which will excite fans worldwide seemingly effortless out of nothing.
Born Of Fire is pounding yet fresher and heavier out of the speakers than before, but isn’t lacking any of the typical Ross The Boss trademarks.
Tracklisting:
Glory To The Slain
Fight The Fight
Denied By The Cross
Maiden Of Shadows
I Am The Sword
Shotgun Evolution
Born Of Fire
Godkiller
The Blackest Heart
Demon Holiday
Undying
Waking The Moon
After the successful release of By Blood Sworn in 2018, a full European tour and glorious festival shows all over Europe, the Ross The Boss band returns to Europe in April 2020 to promote their upcoming new album. Tour dates, with special guests Burning Witches and Asomvel, are listed below.

Former STYX Frontman DENNIS DEYOUNG: '26 East: Volume 1' Track Listing, Cover Artwork Unveiled
Former STYX frontman Dennis DeYoung will release his new album, "26 East: Volume 1", on April 10 via Frontiers Music Srl. The 10-song LP will feature the duet "To The Good Old Days" with Julian Lennon.
"26 East: Volume 1"
01. East Of Midnight
02. With All Due Respect
03. A Kingdom Ablaze
04. You My Love
05. Run For The Roses
06. Damn That Dream
07. Unbroken
08. The Promise Of This Land
09. To The Good Old Days
10. A.D. 2020
DeYoung originally announced that this would be his last album but he has since changed his mind.
"This was supposed to be my final album but there were so many songs written that Serafino Perugino, CEO of Frontiers, suggested dividing it into two albums rather than one," DeYoung explained. "So be it. This is Volume 1, which sounds pretentious to me, but the marketing folks wanted you to know there are going to be two of them, so hey kids, there are two of them; this is Volume 1."
It all started when Jim Peterik, a fellow Chicagoan and nearby neighbor, sent a song demo to Dennis.
"If not for Jim Peterik's encouragement, talent and prodding I would not have recorded this music," said DeYoung. "He once told me that the world needed my music; to which I replied, 'Have the world text me for verification.' We collaborated from the get-go, happily and seamlessly, and at this time, we have written nine songs together, of which five will be on Volume 1. Just two Chicago guys doing what they do best, making music and having a laugh."
The collaboration with Julian Lennon came about when DeYoung wrote a verse and chorus of a song with Lennon in mind. Lennon heard the demo and said he would be honored to participate. Lennon's vocals were recorded in October at Mission Sound in Brooklyn, New York.
DeYoung shared: "The moment we sang together in the studio, it felt magical. I wrote the song specifically for our two voices. I had never met Julian previously, but I have been an admirer since 'Valotte'."
The album title "26 East" represents the birthplace of STYX. 26 E 101st Place was the address where DeYoung grew up in Roseland, on the south side of Chicago. Across the street at 39 E 101st Place lived the Panozzo twins, Chuck and John, who would go on to form TRADE WINDS in 1962, which a decade later would become the core of STYX. The cover artwork of "26 East" features three locomotives, representing the three original members of STYX leaving the Chicago train yard dreaming of bigger and better things.
In support of the release of "26 East", DeYoung will tour heavily throughout 2020. The first leg of the trek begins February 14 at the River City Casino in St Louis, Missouri and concludes July 11 in Austin, Texas. | +1

WHITESNAKE's DAVID COVERDALE Can't See Himself Performing 'Still Of The Night' In His 70s
Australia's Heavy magazine recently conducted an interview with WHITESNAKE frontman David Coverdale. You can listen to the entire chat below. A few excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).
On touring behind WHITESNAKE's latest studio album, 2019's "Flesh & Blood":
David: "It's doing so well. It's getting awards now; it's like awards time in rock magazines. And we're getting awards for 'Best Album Of The Year,' which is amazing. The video 'Shut Up & Kiss Me' has got over two million views, which, for a classic rock act, it's just amazing, to be honest. And what it's done, it has given the whole band and me a collective [big kick in] the ass]. It's revitalized us. We're playing a song that the audience knows, one of the WHITESNAKE classics, and follow it with 'Trouble Is Your Middle Name' or 'Hey You (You Make Me Rock)', and the fucking crowd is singing it as loud as the classics. So it fits like a beautifully tailored glove into the WHITESNAKE stage show. So much so, we're going now into 2020. It's very rare you can tour for more than one tour cycle, really, on an album. But this is doing so incredibly well and consistent… We're going out — we start with you guys in Australia, then we go to New Zealand and Singapore and Jakarta, which I haven't been since a tragic event with DEEP PURPLE in '76 [or] '75. And then into Japan. We had to reschedule a tour there. It's amazing. We've got a fabulous, almost sold-out U.K. arena tour we're playing in June [this] year. Everything feeds the reservoir that is WHITESNAKE. And this album, I'm thrilled. You know, I had to be talked into doing it. I wrote 18 new songs either on my own with Reb Beach or Joel Hoekstra, my guitar players, recovering from dual knee surgery. [Laughs] I had knee replacement surgery. That's what you need to write potent, juicy rock and roll. [Laughs]"
On how he would have reacted in 1978 if someone told him WHITESNAKE would still be active in 2020:
David: "I would have laughed. Literally, I was writing the songs 'Here I Go Again' and 'Crying In The Rain' during the breakdown of my first marriage a long, long time ago. And I was coming up to my 30th birthday, and I thought, 'That's it.' 'Cause, really, nobody — I mean THE [ROLLING] STONES, THE WHO, are you kidding me? I'm three score and eight [68], but these guys are in their 70s. I can't see doing 'Still Of The Night' in my 70s. So I'm not sure when that's gonna happen. My wife's banned me from using the word 'retirement.' But every fucking day, I'm in gratitude and appreciation that my life is as it is, both in a private circumstance and in a professional circumstance. It's magical. It's magical. And there's a lot of bands — you probably know them; I don't know how long you've been doing this — but there's a lot of bands that stay together for the money, for the economics of it. This band get on terrifically well as friends, as we call brothers, 'Snake Brothers', brothers of the snake, as good as they are live. And believe me, this is one hell of a muscular and powerful fucking band onstage. Extraordinary."
Released last May via Frontiers Music Srl, "Flesh & Blood" followed the 2011 critically acclaimed studio album "Forevermore" and 2015's "The Purple Album", a reimagining of DEEP PURPLE classics from Coverdale's time in that band.
Joining Coverdale on "Flesh & Blood" is the powerhouse band comprised of Beach and Hoekstra on guitar, Michael Devin on bass, Tommy Aldridge on drums, and Michele Luppi on keyboards.

MATTHIAS JABS Says New SCORPIONS Album Will Be 'Very Powerful'
SCORPIONS guitarist Matthias Jabs spoke to Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station about the band's upcoming studio album. Tentatively due before the end of the year, the disc will mark the German hard rock legends' first release since 2017's "Born To Touch Your Feelings - Best Of Rock Ballads", which was an anthology of SCORPIONS' new and classic material.
"We're working on a new record now," Matthias said. "We have to go to Australia, New Zealand and some places in Asia in February, but as soon as we come back, we concentrate on the recordings. We're rehearsing here in Hannover, Germany, and then we're going over to Los Angeles to record with Greg Fidelman, who is a producer who produced METALLICA and SLIPKNOT lately — something with a bit of a harder edge to it. And then we record the album in L.A. And then we go to [Las] Vegas [for the SCORPIONS residency in July]. And if we are not done [recording] by then, we have a studio on hold in Vegas where we could do some overdubs on the days off."
Asked if Fidelman's involvement in the new SCORPIONS album means that the music on the record will follow a slightly "heavier" direction than some of the group's recent efforts, Jabs said: "I think so. Because we want it, and everybody says, 'Do something like in the old 'Blackout' days, [and] 'Love At First Sting'.' So, that is the idea. We're just a little bit older than we were back then, but that doesn't really matter."
He added: "We know we got older, but inside, we still feel young, and we are very energetic. The shows are great. And writing songs and playing the songs, it feels like it always has — very energetic, powerful. And we have still great ideas. Good songwriting going on at the moment. And this album should be very powerful."
SCORPIONS' last full-length collection of new recordings was 2015's "Return To Forever", partially comprising songs the band had in the vault from the '80s. It was the final recorded appearance of SCORPIONS' longtime drummer James Kottak, who was dismissed from the band in September 2016. He has since been replaced by Mikkey Dee, formerly of MOTÖRHEAD.
Earlier this month, SCORPIONS announced that they will be taking over the Las Vegas Strip later this year with their exclusive headlining residency show. Promoted by Live Nation and Caesars Entertainment, SCORPIONS "Sin City Nights" kicks off Saturday, July 4 at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. SCORPIONS will be joined by special guests QUEENSRŸCHE.
SCORPIONS previously played a Las Vegas mini-residency in May 2016, consisting of five shows at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Support on those dates also came from QUEENSRŸCHE.

OZZY OSBOURNE: 'I Think About' Death, But 'I Don't Worry About It'
In one of his first interviews since announcing his Parkinson's disease diagnosis, Ozzy Osbourne discussed his feelings about life and death.
Ozzy had neck surgery to correct an old injury that he aggravated early last year, forcing him to stay off the road for all of 2019. He received his Parkinson's diagnosis last February, around the same time.
Speaking to U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine, the legendary heavy metal singer said: "Do I ever think about when my time's gonna come? I think about it; I don't worry about it. I won't be here in another 15 years or whatever, not that much longer, but I don't dwell on it. It's gonna happen to us all.
"Am I happy now? No. I haven't got my health," he continued. "That thing knocked the shit out of me, man, but I'm still here. In fact, I worried about [death] more when I was younger than I do now. I just try to enjoy things as much as possible, even though that's so fucking hard sometimes."
Ozzy will head to Switzerland in April to see a specialist about his condition, and is then scheduled to resume the North American leg of tour this spring. His first new solo album in 10 years, "Ordinary Man", is due for release on February 21.
"If you saw me at the beginning of last year you'd think I was fucked," he told Kerrang! "But I honestly think making this album is the best medicine I could have had. I was doing something, something I like to do. I wish I could do more, but it just felt great."
On the red carpet at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night (January 26), Ozzy said that he'll move forward with his "No More Tours 2" trek if he's "well enough." He explained: "I'm having physical therapy every day, five days a week. I'm trying, doing the best I can. Neck surgery's not easy."
Kelly Osbourne, who was by her 71-year-old dad's side, said that she is proud of her father's progress. She remarked, "Seeing how far Dad's come this year and how far he's come in the last week alone has just been incredible. I think coming out and telling his truth has been a weight lifted off of his shoulders… His physical therapist is saying how far you have moved forward in this last week is insane."
The BLACK SABBATH frontman's wife Sharon explained in an interview on "Good Morning America" that Ozzy has "PRKN 2, which is a form of Parkinson's. There's so many different types of Parkinson's. It's not a death sentence by any stretch of the imagination, but it does affect certain nerves in your body. It's like you have a good day, a good day and then a really bad day."
Ozzy added he has been experiencing other symptoms that may or may not stem from Parkinson's, saying, "I got a numbness down this arm for the surgery; my legs keep going cold. I don't know if that's the Parkinson's or what, you know, but that's — see, that's the problem. Because they cut nerves when they did the surgery. I'd never heard of nerve pain, and it's a weird feeling."

CRANBERRIES Members Felt BAD WOLVES' 'Zombie' Cover Was Released 'Too Soon'
BAD WOLVES (pictured) released their cover of THE CRANBERRIES' "Zombie" only four days after the January 2018 passing of the latter band's frontwoman Dolores O'Riordan, with all proceeds from track donated to her three children. THE CRANBERRIES' singer was set to record her vocals on the song the day of her tragic death.
The surviving members of THE CRANBERRIES — whose 2019 album "In The End" featured posthumous vocals from O'Riordan — told ABC New Radio that they didn't care for BAD WOLVES' version of "Zombie".
"[I] didn't really like it," drummer Fergal Lawler said. "It wasn't my cup of tea."
Compounding matters, guitarist Noel Hogan said that he felt BAD WOLVES' cover was released "a bit too soon. For my liking, anyway," he explained.
"The whole thing seemed insensitive or something," Lawler added.
When BAD WOLVES' cover was first released, singer Tommy Vext said that he was inspired by Dolores's "lyrics, confronting the collateral damage of political unrest," which "capture the same sentiment we wanted to express a quarter century later."
Vext addressed BAD WOLVES' decision to release the song so soon after Delores's death in an interview with Consequence Of Sound. He said: "At first, we were thinking we were going into the studio to record 'Zombie' with Dolores, so we were on this real high and excited about that. It came down to the night before, and as everyone knows, she tragically passed away. So, it was this really tragic, sad situation, and the song almost didn't come out. We were going to shelve the song, and then we talked with our label about releasing the song and donating all of the proceeds to Dolores's children. So, we released the song as a tribute. We honestly had no idea what would happen. We didn't know if anybody would care. The only reason we felt confident in our rendition of the song is because she loved it so much. It turned into this viral moment, and it's been this crazy whirlwind ever since. We just wanted to do something good with the song. There's so much negativity in this world, so we thought, 'Let's do something positive.'"
Originally released in 1994 following the IRA bombing of Warrington, THE CRANBERRIES' "Zombie" hit No. 1 across the globe, including on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart. The song returned to the Top 10 on the U.S. Rock chart shortly after news of Dolores's passing was announced.
BAD WOLVES was formed in 2017, comprised of former members of DEVILDRIVER, GOD FORBID, DIVINE HERESY and IN THIS MOMENT.
"Zombie" surfaced on BAD WOLVES' debut album, "Disobey", which came out in May 2018. | +8

Former NIRVANA Manager Dismisses KURT COBAIN Murder Theories
According to The Pulse Of Radio, former NIRVANA manager Danny Goldberg was asked at a signing session in Los Angeles for his new book, "Serving The Servant: Remembering Kurt Cobain", for his thoughts on the conspiracy theory that Courtney Love had her husband, NIRVANA frontman Kurt Cobain, murdered and made to look like a suicide.
Goldberg replied: "I met Tom Grant once, and once was enough. Grant was a detective who has been spinning all these years the conspiracy theory... He gave me his reasons on why he thought this was very suspicious and I said to him, 'Don't you think the Seattle Police Department would investigate this? It's kind of front-page news and they're under a lot of scrutiny.'
Goldberg continued: "He said: 'Oh, I know how police departments can be corrupted.' So at that point, I stopped paying attention to him because that was to me, absurd, the implication that Courtney was somehow going to waltz into a Seattle police station and corrupt them. I don't think they would even let her into a police station. [Laughs] Especially in those days."
The former music business executive added: "I just feel that was enough for me and combined with having seen [him] the week before, knowing the condition he was in, and I know [NIRVANA bassist] Krist Novoselic shares this view. It's just my unalterable opinion."
The Pulse Of Radio asked Cobain biographer Charles R. Cross a while back why he thought the conspiracy theories lingered on. "I think the main reason people embrace the conspiracy theory is simply that it's very painful to imagine that Kurt, someone they loved or maybe identified with, that he betrayed them in some degree by taking his own life," he said. "You know, the bottom line is there's absolutely no evidence to suggest that Kurt's death was anything other than suicide, and it's almost absurd that the topic continues to come up."
Kurt Cobain was found dead on April 8, 1994 at his home in Seattle, three days after the singer and guitarist took his own life with a shotgun. He was 27 years old.

DROPKICK MURPHYS Release Two New Songs: 'Smash Sh*t Up' And Cover Of GERRY CINNAMON's 'The Bonny'
DROPKICK MURPHYS have released their new single and video, "Smash Sh*t Up". "Smash Sh*t Up" is available digitally and on limited-edition colored vinyl paired with B-side "The Bonny", a cover of Scottish singer-songwriter Gerry Cinnamon's 2019 song. Both songs are available on streaming platforms worldwide, with vinyl offered in the DROPKICK MURPHYS webstore, and at the band's upcoming tour dates, while supplies last.
DROPKICK MURPHYS just kicked off their European winter tour in Madrid, with shows through February 21. Following the Boston Blowout dates, the band returns to the road in May for a handful of North American festival appearances, including Domination festival (Mexico City), Epicenter (Concord, North Carolina), Welcome To Rockville (Daytona Beach, Florida) and Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival (Columbus, Ohio).
Since forming in 1996, Boston's DROPKICK MURPHYS have sold a staggering seven million albums worldwide, with 2005's "The Warrior's Code" achieving an RIAA gold certification and its smash single "I'm Shipping Up To Boston" nearing double platinum and appearing during a key moment of Martin Scorsese's Academy Award-winning "The Departed". DROPKICK MURPHYS have become ambassadors for their Boston hometown and have built a legacy that does Beantown proud. In Boston, it seems like everybody knows someone connected to the band whether by blood, friendship, or the time they shared at a Bruins game. They've hosted sold out concerts at most of the city's landmarks, including Fenway Park, TD Garden, the Boston Pops, and even the last voyage of the USS Constitution. DROPKICK MURPHYS established their own charity, The Claddagh Fund, in 2009 to help support addiction recovery as well as children's and veterans' organizations. The band is hands-on in raising funds, mentoring, and lending a helping hand with veterans, youth sports, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
DROPKICK MURPHYS — Al Barr (lead vocals), Tim Brennan (guitars, accordion, mellotron, whistles, vocals), Ken Casey (lead vocals, bass guitar), Jeff DaRosa (banjo, bouzouki, mandolin, harmonica, acoustic guitars, vocals), Matt Kelly (drums, percussion, vocals), James Lynch (guitar, vocals), Kevin Rheault (touring bassist), Lee Forshner (touring bagpipe player) — continue to tour in support of their "11 Short Stories Of Pain & Glory" album (released through the band's own Born & Bred Records in 2017), which debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard Top 200 and was the No. 1 independently released album. | +2

METALLICA's JAMES HETFIELD Makes First Post-Rehab Public Appearance At Classic Car Exhibition: Video, Photos
METALLICA frontman James Hetfield made his first major public appearance since entering rehab last night (Thursday, January 30), when an exhibit featuring 10 of his classic custom cars opened with a ticketed reception at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
Hetfield took part in a chat and helped auction two of his ESP guitars at the event. He said he was proud to have his work on display at the museum. "There's no other place like this," James said. "The Petersen is the pinnacle. It's the best place to have your vehicles. They weren't doing me much good sitting in my garage. I loved looking at them. The best part is they're all together. I didn't want to auction them off and [have them] go all over the world. It's a collection. It marks my life."
Also in attendance were James's METALLICA bandmate Robert Trujillo, along with former VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony and ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell.
The exhibit officially opens to the public on February 1 and will also feature guitars and other memorabilia in addition to the cars. It's expected to remain at the Petersen into October.
Video footage and photos of Hetfield's appearance can be seen below.
Hetfield has been largely out of the public eye since last fall when METALLICA canceled an Australian tour and announced that Hetfield was returning to rehab to battle his addictions. The singer/guitarist first got treatment in 2002, a process that was chronicled in the 2004 documentary "Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster".
Among the cars on display at "Reclaimed Rust: The James Hetfield Collection" are Voodoo Priest, based on a '37 Lincoln Zephyr, a '36 Auburn roadster named Slow Burn, a Delahaye inspired '34 Packard, a '36 Ford in bare metal called Iron Fist, a purple '56 Ford F-100 pickup truck and Skyscraper, Hetfield's 1953 Buick Skylark.
As previously reported, a book about Hetfield's cars, "Reclaimed Rust: The Four-Wheeled Creations Of James Hetfield", will be released on May 5 via Insight Editions. In the book, Hetfield opens up his garage for an exclusive tour of the highlights of his incredible collection of restored and customized classic cars.
A few years ago, Hetfield said that he approaches building hot rods the same way he approaches writing music. "Building cars is always an escape," he explained. "It's the same with music. I don't know what I'm gonna make. Cars are like people to me; they like love. They love to be touched, they love to be handled, they love to be driven... they love to be admired… This is a form of expression and freedom, and you can get away with driving something like that but still have your personality show through. It's just like looking at art. You look at a piece and you go, 'I don't get it.' And you look at something else and say, 'That is amazing. I wish I thought of that.'"

STEVE HARRIS Says NIGHTWISH "Probably Have The Biggest Chance" Of Reaching IRON MAIDEN's Level Of Success
In a new interview with Ultimate Guitar's Justin Beckner, Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris talked about the current state of the rock scene, singling out a few personal favorites from the younger generation.
UG: Are there newer bands out there right now that you're excited about? And do you think there are any that could become as big as Iron Maiden?
Harris: "Wow, that's a tough one because I think there are some good bands out there. I think times have changed so much and who knows whether they have the chance to be a global band like Maiden is. It takes a long time for a band to become like Maiden has. Certainly, some bands have got the talent. I think Nightwish are a great band and they're getting bigger all the time. They probably have the biggest chance of (reaching worldwide success on a level that Maiden has). There's a band that I like called Lord of the Lost, they did some gigs with Maiden. I think they're really good.
"I think my son (George)'s band, Raven Age, is fantastic. The thing that separates them is that they've got such great songs. Every single song on both of their albums - they're all great songs, in my opinion. That just shows the depth. A lot of bands have good songs but maybe not a full album's worth. It's so difficult - there are so many good bands out there, but whether they can take it to that level is all based on circumstances and timing and all that stuff."
Harris' other band, British Lion, launched their US tour on January 18 in Orlando, Florida. The band also launched a US Tour Diary video series. You can watch the first four segments below:

KATATONIA To Release 'City Burials' Album In April
KATATONIA, the Swedish purveyors of dark progressive rock/metal, will release their new album, "City Burials", on April 24 via Peaceville Records. The disc's first single, "Lacquer", can be streamed below.
Guitarist Anders Nyström commented: "In days and nights of black and silver, the dead-end king will come. From pieces of broken mirrors there will be a crown bestowed upon his head. In reflections of shattered glass not only the seasons will turn, but also the change disguised by the lapse of time. His mind will have to come to bear the weight of everything that was left behind and forgotten. Archiving the inaccessible. Celebrating the abandoned and mourning the destroyed. The city burials."
With the winds of a new direction steering the band on their latest journey, "City Burials" stands as KATATONIA's new triumph of deep and enigmatic progressive rock — the fruits of a rejuvenating and profound chapter in the band’s legacy; a catalyst for its creators, with a collection of moments constructed out of the fragments of an ever-evolving life. Compiled into one of their most important modern works and statements to date, the finely honed instrumentation provides a multi-textured backdrop with the voice of Jonas Renkse guiding us through these latest trials of loss and ruin.
"City Burials" is an album that sees the band reclaim part of their heavy metal roots, via several moments of exuberant, old-school classicism, deftly woven into these new songs' kaleidoscopic fabric.
"City Burials" will be released on CD, deluxe mediabook CD with bonus tracks, black and coloured vinyl LPs with bonus track and digitally (digital pre-orders receive "Lacquer" as an instant download).
"City Burials" track listing:
01. Heart Set To Divide
02. Behind The Blood
03. Lacquer
04. Rein
05. The Winter Of Our Passing
06. Vanishers
07. City Glaciers

TESTAMENT To Release 'Titans Of Creation' Album In April; Cover Artwork, Track Listing Revealed
According to a product listing on Apple.com, San Francisco Bay Area metallers TESTAMENT have set "Titans Of Creation" as the title of their new album, due on April 3 via Nuclear Blast. The long-awaited follow-up to 2016 album "Brotherhood Of The Snake" was once again recorded with Juan Urteaga and mixed by veteran British producer — and current JUDAS PRIEST touring guitarist — Andy Sneap. The cover artwork for "Titans Of Creation" was created by artist and longtime collaborator Eliran Kantor, who has previously worked with ICED EARTH, SODOM, HATEBREED, SOULFLY and THY ART IS MURDER, among many others.
"Titans Of Creation" track listing:
01. Children Of The Next Level
02. WWII
03. Dream Deceiver
04. Night Of The Witch
05. City Of Angels
06. Ishtars Gate
07. Symptoms
08. False Prophet
09. The Healers
10. Code Of Hammurabi
11. Curse Of Osiris
12. Catacombs
A snippet of the song "Night Of The Witch" is available on Apple.com.
In a recent interview with Heavy New York, TESTAMENT singer Chuck Billy was asked if the band's new disc is a musical continuation of "Brotherhood Of The Snake". He responded: "You're always trying to top your last record, and I thought 'Brotherhood', up to that point, was a pretty strong record. This one, it definitely stands on its own — all the songs have their own identity. Eric [Peterson, guitar] somehow came up with a way to make it be TESTAMENT but feel fresh and new still TESTAMENT, so that's pretty awesome."
He continued: "It was a quicker process than the last time, but I think at the end, the mix is awesome, the songs came out awesome, and the process wasn't as painful as it was the last time. So, it's a good record. I can't wait for everybody to hear it."
Asked if he waits for music for new TESTAMENT songs to be completed first before he starts working on lyrical ideas or if he has lyrics in mind before even hearing a note of music, Chuck said: "I have some concepts before I hear music and apply 'em to what I feel when I feel the song. So usually, a lot of it, the riff is first — it's a riff; it's not even a song yet, so it's usually just a riff. And then, from there, I just kind of feel it out and just kind of find my way through it.
"On this record, we didn't get to work and do any demos, so a lot of it was a lot of riffs going into the studio with ideas and then fine-tuning it, which I think put the pressure on ourselves," he explained. "Sometimes when you're under pressure, I think you work a little harder and you give it a little more. So I think, again, us forcing ourselves in the studio — 'Let's go. We're gonna record this record now' — it paid off, 'cause the record came out great. Everybody's performance — Steve [DiGiorgio, bass] and Gene [Hoglan, drums] just killed it on this record. It's an awesome record. TESTAMENT fans, I think, are gonna dig it."
Last year, Billy told the WSOU radio station that the new TESTAMENT album would "definitely" contain "some different elements. I think Eric definitely stepped back into little of his — I don't know — maybe, MERCYFUL FATE shoes," he said. "There's a lot of MERCYFUL FATE kind of stuff. Eric does some black metal stuff. There's some blast beats, which he's kind of mixed in there, which that's not the norm for us. So it's a little different again. I think all the songs definitely have their own identity and stand on their own."
Chuck said that he is using his "melodic tone of a voice and less of a death metal voice" on the new TESTAMENT LP. "It's just kind of where the songs took it," he said. "There's a song on here that was kind of one of the last ones that came around — it's one of the slower-tempo songs. And I kind of was shying away from it 'cause the pace of the rest of the record was pretty quick, so I wasn't sure it was the right fit. But in the end, once we wrote it and finished it, it turned out to be a great song. But I'm doing some stuff on there — I've never sang a three-part harmony on a TESTAMENT song ever. And on this one, there's a situation where I tried it and did it, and it sounds really cool for the song. So it was just something different — challenging again that was different notes to use and different challenges, and I kind of dug it. And it actually was cool, and it actually made the experience on those songs, of creation, just kind of fun."
Billy went on to discuss two of the tracks that will appear on TESTAMENT's new disc, saying: "On this record, there's a song called 'Children Of The Next Level', and that's one that really came together, musically, and came together lyrically. There's another one on the record that, actually, the first time I heard the song, I kind of mimicked the vocal pattern and actually we wrote it the next day. So that was a song that was, like, 'Wow!' I got inspired and laid down the first gut feeling of what it felt like. And it ended up being a keeper, and we ended up molding it right into a killer song. And lyrically, the timing, the melody, the lyrics — everything just really kind of fell into place."
TESTAMENT will team up with EXODUS and DEATH ANGEL for "The Bay Strikes Back 2020" European tour. The trek will kick off on February 6 in Copenhagen, Denmark and will hit 25 cities before concluding on March 11 in Hannover, Germany.

ANVIL Releases Music Video For 'Legal At Last' Title Track
The official music video for the song "Legal At Last" from Canadian metal legends ANVIL can be seen below. The track is the title cut of the band's upcoming album, "Legal At Last", due on February 14 via AFM Records as a digipak, on digital, black vinyl and some limited colored vinyl.
ANVIL, a Toronto-based group, was formed in 1978 by childhood friends, guitarist/vocalist Steve "Lips" Kudlow and drummer Robb Reiner. Both came from Jewish families and had been playing music together since their teens. ANVIL is considered to have been an influence on many metal bands, including METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER and ANTHRAX.
Though initially a four-piece band, ANVIL's current lineup includes Kudlow, Reiner and bassist Chris Robertson.
ANVIL gained popularity and new fans since the 2008 theatrical documentary, "Anvil: The Story Of Anvil", which is currently available on Netflix.
ANVIL recorded the new disc at Soundlodge studios in Rhauderfehn in the northwest of Germany. Speaking about the LP's musical direction, Reiner told The Metal Voice: "It's just a continuation of what we've been doing for the last four or five years, really. Some very powerful riffs. It's gonna be more smashing, crushing ANVIL."
Added Kudlow: "Of course, it's all fresh and new, but the roots are still very much ourselves. Everybody who liked us before is gonna like us still, and people who didn't like us are still not gonna like us. Ultimately, that's where it's gonna sit, 'cause I am not gonna tailor my music and my songs to the people that don't like us and hope that they will. I'm gonna do the exact opposite. The people that love us, they wanna hear specific kind of tempos and riffs, and I look for those things, 'cause it's really my vocabulary, and I'm gonna continue with that — with new subjects and new things to sing about."
He continued: "I think that this album has some of the best slow pounders and some of the best fast stuff that we've ever done. You're trying to be different 'cause you don't want it to be exactly the same, 'cause then you're just repeating yourself — you're not being creative."
Regarding the "Legal At Last" title, Reiner said: "'Legal At Last' is mainly about two things. We celebrate the legalization of the ANVIL bong because Canada changed its marijuana laws last year, which means we no longer sail close to the wind all the time. That's why the album title announces that ANVIL are legal at last. Our fans have always known that, but the public at large treated us like criminals for a long time." Kudlow added: "'Legal At Last' is our way of telling the public: 'It's okay, ANVIL are okay, you're allowed to like us at last!'"
Track listing:
01. Legal At Last
02. Nabbed In Nebraska
03. Chemtrails
04. Gasoline
05. I'm Alive
06. Talking To The Wall
07. Glass House
08. Plastic In Paradise
09. Bottom Line
10. Food For The Vulture
11. When All's Been Said And Done
12. No Time

OZZY OSBOURNE Makes First-Ever Public Service Announcement For PETA; Reveals The Bloody Truth Behind Declawing Cats
In his first-ever public service announcement for PETA, “Prince of Darkness” Ozzy Osbourne is exposing the cruelty behind the practice of declawing cats in his own characteristic - and bloody - way. Take a look:
“Amputating a cat’s toes is twisted and wrong. If your couch is more important to you than your cat’s health and happiness, you don’t deserve to have an animal! Get cats a scratching post - don’t mutilate them for life.” - Ozzy Osbourne
While misinformed guardians may think it’s nothing more than a manicure, declawing is actually a serious surgery involving 10 separate, painful amputations. Without their claws as a first line of defense, cats feel so insecure that they tend to bite more often as a means of self-protection. And even housetrained cats may urinate and defecate outside the litterbox in an attempt to mark their territory when their claws have been taken from them.
For the Osbournes, collaborating with PETA to speak up for animals is very much a family affair. Ozzy’s wife, The Talk cohost Sharon Osbourne, worked with PETA to expose the cruelty of the fur industry by narrating an exposé on the chinchilla fur trade and donating her fur coats to PETA. And Ozzy and Sharon’s compassionate daughter Kelly posed for PETA’s “Save the Seals” ad series to help show the world how seals are bludgeoned for their fur in Canada’s gruesome annual seal massacre.
Nearly two dozen countries - including Australia, England, and Japan - have prohibited or severely restricted veterinarians from performing the painful, permanently crippling, and mutilating procedure. And in the summer of 2019, Gov. Andrew Cuomo made history when New York became the first state in the US to ban the declawing of cats.
Guardians looking to protect their furniture and their felines can check out humane ways to prevent cats from scratching on furniture. You can find even more help in PETA President Ingrid Newkirk’s book 250 Things You Can Do to Make Your Cat Adore You.
Take action to help cats big and small.

MOONSPELL Frontman Decries 'Toxic' Social Media: 'Stop Being A**holes To Bands'
MOONSPELL frontman Fernando Ribeiro has fired back at some of the group's followers after he and his bandmates were criticized over their new social media policy.
Earlier today, the official MOONSPELL social media channels were updated with the following message: "NOTICE: dear all, we have been unfollowing loads of profiles that for some reason didn't follow us back. Thanks for understanding, have a kickass 2020 Under the spell"
After some fans mistook the missive as having been directed at them, Ribeiro took to social media to clarify MOONSPELL' stance and to decry the "toxic" nature of social networking platforms.
He wrote: "Dear Wolfpack and dear Instagram 'warriors'
"I got a worried call from our social networking team and decided to check it out for myself and drop you some words.
"The unfollow policy is a part of a new take of MOONSPELL relationship with socials. It was meant for 'fellow' bands, artists, designers, acquaintances, agents etc. who do not extend the COURTESY of a follow back to MOONSPELL as a gesture and also an appreciation of our job by keeping up-to-date with it. It wasn't meant for any fans but people upset about everything and everyone's a victim these days. That's why I don't own either a FB or Instagram personal profile of my own. So the words I read here just underline that simple fact that socials are toxic and that the 'fans' want them to stay like that. I am a fan of many bands and if they posted anything like this, I wouldn't DARE to say to a band to grow up or call them the things I read here about my band.
"I am appalled that such a simple post and a rightful intention is heavily denounced and criticised under these terms. If you want to unfollow MOONSPELL, please be our guest. We are not interested in your cats, dogs or sunset pics at the beach. Music is what matters for us. All the rest, we couldn't give a fuck to be honest. So people who are so offended -many commenting here for the very first time ever- don't let the door hit your as. Do think, if you want, who really needs to grow up. Give two shits about what's music really like and stop being so involved in a stupid campaign for being right and tellings 'bands' a lesson. Send love, keep your hate to yourself and look around to find out that for a fact there are little band profiles where bands follow or care fans as much as we do.
"We do hope our posts about our new website, my literary blog and brand, and of course the new album will arise so much interest as this one, which I very much doubt, but stay tuned.
"Now I am back to work and if you do work or study get back to it. Stop being assholes to bands who were here before you joined Instagram and will be after you leave."
MOONSPELL's "Lisboa Under The Spell" live DVD/CD was released in August 2018 via Napalm Records. The live DVD/Blu-ray/3CD package captures the band's performance before 4,000 fans at the sold-out Campo Pequeno arena in their hometown of Lisbon, Portugal on February 4, 2017.
MOONSPELL's most recent studio album, "1755", came out in November 2017.
Meanwhile on #Instagram somebody has to lecture the fools. No need to thank me folks, read a book instead that makes me happy ? pic.twitter.com/EMA9HvqjaJ
