SERENITY Release Music Video For New Single "My Kingdom Comes"
With their third single, “My Kingdom Comes”, off their upcoming album, The Last Knight, to be released via Napalm Records, Serenity continues the epic journey in the footsteps of the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I.. The beautiful conceptualized video shows the last knight himself and impressively visualizes the ancient spirit of medieval times.
This powerful hymn highlights another facet of Serenity by adding the deep and forceful growls of Chris Hermsdörfer that lead you directly into the chorus where Georg Neuhauser’s outrageous voice praises the rise of the symphonic kingdom. Andreas Schipflinger’s energetic smashing double bass sound merges perfectly with the sonorous sound of the song and pushes it to the next level - worthy of a kingdom.
“My Kingdom Comes” crowns the memorial Serenity has prepared throughout their lifetime: The Last Knight ain’t just a powerful reminiscence of the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I. - it has a deep connection to the band itself.
Serenity will release their seventh studio album, The Last Knight, on January 31 via Napalm Records and details the life of the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I. Building on that story, they’ve created a historical, musical concept never seen before. They have captivated their fans and audiences for nearly two decades, and they’re showing no signs of stopping.
For years, the band has been a prime example of epic symphonic and melodic metal, showcasing both distinct heaviness and a lot of heart. Now they’re pushing it to the next level. Serenity has redefined themselves without forgetting their musical roots, becoming a worthy successor for Maximilian’s legacy, ready to conquer the world! Be a part of their grand quest.

MIKE PORTNOY future
It was also revealed in September that Portnoy recently recorded a covers album with guitarist Phil Demmel (ex-MACHINE HEAD), bassist Mark Menghi (METAL ALLEGIANCE) and vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth (OVERKILL). "That, I wouldn't even call a project or a band," Portnoy explained. "I remember Menghi hitting me up — he's, like, 'Hey, man. Let's just do an album of '70s American rock covers.' I was, like, 'Yeah, that sounds great. Is it going to be METAL ALLEGIANCE?' He's, like, 'No — it's not really METAL ALLEGIANCE. It's going to be something else entirely.' I was, like, 'Oh, God — I can't have another band. I already have six. I can't make it seven.' The whole idea was, it's not a band; it's not a project. It's just an album — a fun album with friends just jamming and hanging out. Basically, Mark and Phil Demmel and Bobby Blitz came to my house, and we just hung out and jammed all these covers. It's a lot of fun. It's a great album of all-American '70s bands — not necessarily metal bands. More rock bands like CACTUS and MOUNTAIN and GRAND FUNK [RAILROAD], but we metal everything up. That's going to be out some time [in 2020]."

Former FORBIDDEN And TESTAMENT Guitarist GLEN ALVELAIS Releases 'Slow Down' Solo Single
Former FORBIDDEN and TESTAMENT guitarist Glen Alvelais has released his first solo single called "Slow Down". The song was recorded at Glen's home studio and all his tracks were mixed by Eric Hill at The Blue Room Recording Studio and mastered by Maor Applebaum.
Says Glen: "I have about nine [or] 10 songs that I will be releasing for free and the plan is to do one heavier song for the thrash metal fans every other month and a Joe Satriani/Allan Holdsworth rock/jazz style in between. So stay tuned for about nine to 10 singles, and towards the end, I plan to package all the songs up and include the new unheard songs along with a full CD packaging of artwork by the one and only Travis Smith.
"I've written and recorded so many songs and ideas and just never got around to recording them properly because of working with my other band projects but I am now able to track at my own time and send off the music to be mixed and mastered. So stay tuned as I'm prepping music from BIZARRO, DAMAGE, HATEFX and LD/50. I am still taking on recording guest solos as well as doing my own. In the past, I had the honors of recording solos for bands like WAR CURSE, EVERSIN, KLANK, MOCCASIN CREEK, LIPSHOK and MOSHPIT JUSTICE and EARTH CRAWLER, and I absolutely love diving into new music, so keep the music coming.
"As well as releasing singles and recording, I am getting ready to start doing videos for my YouTube channel that is just getting started. In the past, I've been asked from fans to do videos of me playing various songs and solos, and with technology getting better and easier, I am taking on the challenge. Who knows — maybe even some online guitar lessons."
Alvelais is one of the original guitarists of the san Francisco Bay Area thrash band FORBIDDEN. Glen recorded on the band's debut album, "Forbidden Evil" and "Raw Evil: Live At The Dynamo". In 1992, Glen was recruited as the lead guitarist of TESTAMENT to replace Alex Skolnick. He recorded on "Return To The Apocalyptic City" and "Demonic".

See Trailer For New OZZY OSBOURNE Documentary 'The Nine Lives Of OZZY OSBOURNE'
The new documentary "Biography: The Nine Lives Of Ozzy Osbourne" will premiere at this spring's South By Southwest festival. The film, which A&E produced as part of its "Biography" series, will celebrate the life of rock icon and godfather of heavy metal Ozzy Osbourne and features interviews with Sharon Osbourne, Rick Rubin, Ice-T, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, Jonathan Davis and Post Malone. According to Rolling Stone, Ozzy, Sharon and Jack Osbourne executive produced the picture, which former "Osbournes" producer R. Greg Johnston directed.
"I use the talent of making people feel somewhat entertained when I was goofing around — to take it onstage with my music, I suppose, is the same kind of a thing," Ozzy says in the documentary trailer, which can be seen below.
"I don't know what music would be like if it weren't for the influence of Ozzy," says producer Rick Rubin, who helmed BLACK SABBATH's 2013 album "13". "Ozzy changed everything."
"He left one of the biggest rock bands in the world and became bigger — a credible artist on his own, finding great new talent. And then [he] made it huge on TV," Sharon says. "Nobody had done that."
Last week, Sharon revealed during her daytime TV talk show "The Talk" that she wanted to produce a biopic on Ozzy.
Sharon previously told Variety that a script was being written for a film that will focus on her relationship with Ozzy and not be the typical rock and roll movie of excess. She said at the time: "It's definitely going to be a tearjerker. It's not going to be a sex-and-drugs movie at all. Ozzy is so much more than that. I would hate to be a cliché."
A few months later, Sharon told Celebrity Access that project was very close to becoming a reality. "We've got a deal and we are working with a writer right now, Ozzy and I," she said.
Asked how she managed to keep Ozzy in the public eye for so many years, Sharon replied: "Listen, Ozzy has been playing for 51 years now, and he's been always touring. It is what Ozzy does. There is only one Ozzy. There's only one person who looks like him and sounds like him. That voice is instantly identifiable. And that's it. He's unique. And he's one of the few guys who has ever left a successful band and has gone on to do just as successfully on his own. Even Mick Jagger couldn't do it."
Ozzy's new solo album, "Ordinary Man", will arrive on February 21 via Epic Records. | +10

HARDLINE To Release Life Live CD / DVD In February; "Hot Cherie" Live Video Streaming
Hardline will release a new CD/DVD, Life Live, on February 14 via Frontiers Music Srl. Pre-order the CD/DVD here, and watch the video for "Hot Cherie" below.
Hardline’s performance at Frontiers Rock Festival 2019 was, any hyperbole aside, one of a kind. The band not only performed a superb show, but also saw none other than original drummer Deen Castronovo jump behind the kit to play on selected tracks from the band’s debut album.
Hardline has been consistently touring in Europe the past few years and are a well oiled live machine. The show they put on at the legendary Live Club in Trezzo Sull’Adda has been hailed by many as one of their best in recent memory. With a solid rhythm section featuring powerhouse drummer Marco Di Salvia and Anna Portalupi, the multi-talented Alessandro Del Vecchio on keyboards and background vocals, stellar new guitarist Mario Percudani, and of course the inimitable Johnny Gioeli on vocals, Hardline rocked out hits from their debut album and played a selection of more recent hits from the last three albums.
The band says, "We are so excited to share our Hardline performance that was filmed and recorded live at the Frontiers Rock Festival 2019 We’ve always appreciated our work in the studio, but magic happens when we take the stage. We’ve wanted to capture the true essence and power of this line-up so that fans who can't reach us in person can finally see us in the comfort of their home. “Life Live” speaks to the chemistry, fun and musical power we love to share with our audience. “Life,” our newest album, was released on the same weekend as the festival, which made an exciting preview of the songs in a packed house environment. We were amazed to hear the crowd’s reaction to the new songs and we knew at that moment, we made something special. Sit back, relax and enjoy one of our most memorable shows, and cherish with us a moment in time for all to remember. Hardline… always moving forward… thanks to all the amazing fans around the world."

Trauma is one of Poland's oldest and most experienced death metal acts. The band started in the late-1980s, known then as Thanatos. In December 1992, they changed the name to Trauma, and a few months later recorded their debut full-length, Invisible Reality. Since then, the squad has been remained continuously busy, releasing their brand of music for nearly thirty years!

The songs were captured at the band's TRAUMAtic Sound Studio in Elbląg, Poland where the band used to make pre-productions of the previous albums. The album was mixed and mastered by Wiesławscy Bros at the famous Hertz Studio (Behemoth, Vader, Hour Of Penance, Beheaded), and completed with cover artwork by Polish artist Mariusz Lewandowski (Bell Witch, Fuming Mouth, Mizmor).

DIABULUS IN MUSICA Release Lyric Video For New Single "The Misfit’s Swing"
Travel through time and dance to the rhythm of “The Misfit’s Swing” with the second powerful single from Diabulus In Musica’s upcoming album, Euphonic Entropy, out on February 14 via Napalm Records. An anthem for those abandoned and misunderstood, “The Misfit’s Swing” was musically inspired by the swing-fever of the 1930s. It takes the listener into the mind of the titular outcast, who rejects the conformist norms and instead attempts to embrace their own uniqueness. Despite the struggles the misfits face every day, they still strive for freedom from compromises and judging glances, aiming at appreciation of these personal differences and realization of self-worth.
This emotional break-through, depicted on both a textual and instrumental level, unfolds as well in the space of the accompanying lyric video. Just as in the case of the dance itself, the audiovisual melodic charm of “The Misfit’s Swing” dwells in the past, with sepia color palettes and vintage interiors. Smoothly referring to the cover and sublime musical atmosphere of the upcoming release, the lyric video is, at the same time, a gift for and a homage to the fans. Not only does it include the footage of them dancing to “The Misfit’s Swing”, but, just as the song itself, it furthermore addresses the reassuring feeling of collectivity among individuals isolated from the outer world.
With their second single, Diabulus In Musica convince the listeners that their life among other people may resemble a dance in many aspects - and that there is no better way to go through it confidently than to the sounds of “The Misfit’s Swing”.
Singer Zuberoa Aznárez comments: “Here comes 'The Misfit's Swing', the song for you all, unique people! Who hasn't felt that they don’t fit in with the rest of society for at least once in their life? Most of us have surely been the object of critics at some point. Sadly, we live in a world where the lack of respect and the fear of other people’s opinions limit us as individuals (personally, artistically...), so... Dance for the time being, to live and let live! Special thanks to all the lovely and brave fans who took part in this lyric video!”
Euphonic Entropy is Diabulus In Musica’s fifth studio album and their fourth to be released via Napalm Records. The band is back with their heaviest album to date and continue their way to the top, while still retaining their roots.
Pre-order the album here.
Tracklisting:
"A Lucid Chaos"
"Race To Equilibrium"
"Nuevo Rumbo"
"The Misfit's Swing"
"In Quest Of Sense"
"Otoi"
"Blurred Dreams"
"On The Edge"
"Our Last Gloomy Dance"
"One Step Higher"
"Blind Muse"
"In The Vortex"
"Otoi" video:
Sometimes life itself can be the most beautiful inspiration for an artist. Diabulus In Musica singer Zuberoa Aznárez and her husband, keyboardist Gorka Elso, decided to fill their new album, Euphonic Entropy, with all the wonderful, yet chaotic emotions a new life brings. Diabulus In Musica’s fifth and fully self-produced album mirrors the changes and blossoming beauty in the lives of the two band leaders after the birth of their second child and melts everything into thunderous and highly passionate symphonic metal. The album is bursting with power ballads, beautiful melodies and emotions. Songs like the infectious and ultra-melodic “Otoi” (featuring lyrics in Basque language) bewitch the listener’s senses. The intoxicating “Misfits Swing” and the harmonic, soaring “One Step Higher” ensure a multi-faceted and thrilling adventure!

SHARON OSBOURNE Can't Listen To OZZY's Duet With ELTON JOHN All The Way Through: 'It Makes Me Cry'
Sharon Osbourne says that she can't listen to "Ordinary Man", Ozzy Osbourne's duet with Elton John, too all the way through because it makes her cry.
Released last week, the title track of Osbourne's upcoming album features John singing the second verse while GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash contributes two solos. The track's lyrics reflect on Ozzy's rise to superstardom and his struggles with life in the spotlight as he comes to terms with his inevitable demise.
On Tuesday's (January 14) episode of her daytime TV talk show "The Talk", Sharon discussed "Ordinary Man", saying (see video below): "It's the story of Ozzy's life. And the picture [on the single cover of Ozzy walking alone in a field] was taken by [son] Jack two years ago when they were on the road doing their TV show [Ozzy & Jack's World Detour'] together, and Ozzy was going, wondering off somewhere... And we just thought it was such a natural shot of Ozzy, like nobody ever sees him like that, that it was just perfect for this song."
She continued: "To be able to, at this stage of his life, work with his friends — Slash is on the track, too; and he wrote the song with Andrew Watt, his producer — and to able to, at this stage of his life, pick up the phone to his friends and say, 'Come on. Come on. Play. And do this.' And they say. I think, for Ozzy, it's probably one of his best albums."
Asked what Elton John thought of the collaboration, Sharon said: "He just loved it. Ozzy asked if [Elton] would play piano — because it reminded Ozzy, when he finished it, of an Elton song. And he said, 'Can you play piano?' And then Elton said yes. And then he went into the studio and then he started to sing, Elton did, and then we just kept it."
Sharon added that she is "just so happy for Ozzy" that "Ordinary Man" has been so "well received." But, she added, "I can't listen to it all the way though; it makes me cry."
"Ordinary Man" is due on February 21 via Epic. The title track follows previously released singles "Under The Graveyard" and "Straight To Hell". The LP features additional guest appearances by Post Malone and RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE's Tom Morello. The album was recorded with Duff McKagan, Andrew Watt and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith.
"It all just came together," Ozzy said of the contributors in a press release, adding, "When I was writing 'Ordinary Man', it reminded me of an old Elton song and I said to Sharon, 'I wonder if he would sing on it?' We asked, and lo and behold, he agreed and sings and play piano on the song."

See Video For BUCKCHERRY's Collaboration With Rapper WIFISFUNERAL On 'Crazy Bitch' Remix
Californian rockers BUCKCHERRY have teamed up with American rapper and songwriter Isaiah Rivera, better known by his stage name Wifisfuneral, for a remix of their smash hit "Crazy Bitch". The official music video for "Crazy Bitch (The Butcher Mix)" can now be seen below.
Shot on location in Los Angeles, the "Crazy Bitch" remix video was produced and directed by Mungo Creative Group, which has previously worked with DJ Khaled, Wu-TANG CLAN, SEETHER, Ice-T, THE PRETTY RECKLESS, and many more.
The 2020 version of "Crazy Bitch" was produced by Joe "The Butcher" Nicolo (from the Butcher Bros. team) in collaboration with Tyler Nicolo and BUCKCHERRY guitarist Stevie D. Joe Nicolo and the Butcher Bros. have been nominated 13 times by The Recording Academy and have won nine Grammys to date. They have worked with an array of awe-inspiring artists that include NINE INCH NAILS, THE ROLLING STONES, NAS, and many more. Joe Nicolo also served as co-founder of Ruffhouse Records (FUGEES, LAURYN HILL, WYCLEF JEAN).
Josh Todd from BUCKCHERRY comments: "From the birth of 'Crazy Bitch', it came to me as a hip-hop track and that being said, I always wanted to do a collaboration with a hip-hop artist. Wifisfuneral is super talented and after sifting through potential featured artists he was our first choice and was down for the cause."
Wifisfuneral offers: "It's really relatable. I mean…haven't we ALL dealt with a crazy one somewhere along the way?!"
The original version of "Crazy Bitch" appeared on BUCKCHERRY's multi-platinum third album, 2005's "15". Todd discussed the LP's unexpected success during a recent appearance on the "Appetite For Distortion" podcast. He said: "This is when MySpace is happening, and 'Crazy Bitch' was getting all these views or listens... people were playing that song," he recalled. "It was over a million, and we were, like, 'Oh my God — what is going on with this song?' All of a sudden, radio DJs started editing a clean version of the song and put it on the radio. We didn't even ask. We were like, 'Oh my God — this song's taking off on its own,' and we jumped on 'Crazy Bitch'… And it just changed the scope of our career... It almost didn't even make the record. It had been sitting around for a while. We just thought it would be a good crowd tune — like, our core fans would really like it and it'd be fun to play live. We didn't think much of it because of the lyrical content."
In a separate interview with Vegas Rocks! magazine, Todd stated about the inspiration for "Crazy Bitch": "The idea came to me when I was driving around in L.A. at the time. Paris Hilton put out these sex tapes — or, I don't think she put them out; I don't know how they came out. But basically, she launched her entertainment career with some homemade porn, and I just thought that was funny. Then I started reminiscing about my youth, and I had a lot of crazy girls that I had met when I was younger. I just started singing [the] chorus of 'Crazy Bitch', and I just wanted to record it. I think I called my mom, because I didn't have an iPhone or anything at that time. I called my mom to record it on her [answering] machine so I wouldn't forget it. I just said, 'Don't erase this — I want to remember it. We'll talk about it later.'"
BUCKCHERRY is continuing to tour in support of its latest album, "Warpaint", which was released in March 2019 via Century Media/RED Music. The 12-song record was produced by Mike Plotnikoff, whose previous collaboration with the band was the aforementioned "15".

Video Premiere: STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' 'Fare Thee Well'
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS have released the official video for "Fare Thee Well", the debut single from their forthcoming first-ever acoustic album "Perdida".
Directed by P.R. Brown (MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, JOHN MAYER, PRINCE), the hauntingly beautiful live performance clip perfectly captures the essence of the song.
"Perdida" will be released on February 10. The band recorded the disc at drummer Eric Kretz's Bomb Shelter Studios. STP utilized a variety of instruments that haven't been associated with the group in the past, including flute, alto saxophone, guitarrón, viola, cello and vintage keyboards. STONE TEMPLE PILOTS will also launch an acoustic tour next month.
The second single from "Perdida", a song called "Three Wishes", can be streamed below.
"You have to live it to write it," says guitarist Dean DeLeo. "And this record is a reflection of where we've been recently."
Bassist Robert DeLeo says "Perdida" (Spanish for 'loss') shows how music has helped them process grief, search for meaning and, ultimately, create something beautiful from the pain. "When I've gone through things in my life, I've found that sitting down and having an honest conversation with my guitar is the best therapy."
"Recording an acoustic album like 'Perdida' is something the band has wanted to do for many years," says drummer Eric Kretz. "We performed on 'MTV Unplugged' in 1993, and we usually play acoustic mini-sets on tour, so when Robert and Dean started playing their new songs for us during our tour last year, we knew right away they would be perfect for an acoustic album."
Writing lyrics for an introspective album like "Perdida" meant exposing himself like never before, says singer Jeff Gutt, who joined the band in 2017. "It's an emotionally honest album and I needed to approach it that way for these songs to resonate. I had to let myself be as vulnerable writing the lyrics as Dean and Robert were writing the music."
To record "Perdida", the quartet assembled at Kretz's Bomb Shelter Studios in February 2019. The key to making the album, Dean explains, was finding a way to say more with less. "Everything you hear serves a purpose, from the space in the arrangements to the different instruments. We only added things that served the songs."
As a result, there are instruments on "Perdida" that you don't normally hear on an STP record, like flute ("I Didn't Know The Time") alto saxophone ("Years") guitarrón ("Miles Away") and enough vintage keyboards to make Rick Wakeman jealous. "We've done similar things before — like the trumpet solo on 'Adhesive' from 'Tiny Music' — but never on such a large scale," Robert says. "Working with other musicians on this album was such a joy because it gave us a rare opportunity to hear our songs through someone else's ears."
That approach shines on the title track, where a nylon-string guitar takes the lead as keyboard, violin, viola and cello ebb and flow behind Gutt's soaring vocal on the chorus: "Oh perdida come and go/Stay with me tonight/But in the morning please be gone."
"She's My Queen" is another highpoint on the band's sonic adventure. Built around an Indian drone and carried along by a gently pulsing beat, the song casts a hypnotic spell that's punctuated by background singers, flute and Marxophone — a special kind of hammered dulcimer from the 1920s.
The songs that open and close "Perdida" — "Fare Thee Well" and "Sunburst", respectively — are fitting bookends, Gutt says. "They really capture the emotional journey that takes place on this album. It starts with saying goodbye on 'Fare Thee Well' and ends with a new beginning on 'Sunburst'. It's a melancholy record, but it ends on a hopeful note."
As it happens, those two tracks also spotlight facets of the DeLeo brothers' distinctive songwriting voices. "Fare Thee Well" by Robert pulls you in from the first strum of the guitar and has you singing along after one listen. In Dean's "Sunburst", the melody unfolds gradually, rising and falling multiple times before building to a cathartic guitar-fueled crescendo.
"Perdida" track listing
01. Fare Thee Well
02. Three Wishes
03. Perdida
04. I Didn't Know The Time
05. Years
06. She's My Queen
07. Miles Away
08. You Found Yourself While Losing Your Heart
09. I Once Sat At Your Table
10. Sunburst
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS will also launch an acoustic tour starting on February 5 in Vancouver.
"Some songs are obvious candidates for an acoustic performance," Dean says. "What will be really interesting are the unexpected choices, where we reimagine a familiar song and present in a totally different light."
Kretz says the band is looking forward to not only performing the new songs, but also pulling songs from previous albums into the setlist. "We'll finally get a chance to play songs from our catalog that we've never played live, or in some cases, haven't played live in more than 20 years."
"We've talked about doing this kind of tour for years, and now it's finally happening," Robert explains. "We're excited because it's not only a chance for us to celebrate our new album in a special way, but also everything that's brought us to this moment."

MYLES KENNEDY Says LED ZEPPELIN's JIMMY PAGE Is A 'Genius'
In a recent interview with Greece's "TV War", ALTER BRIDGE frontman Myles Kennedy reflected on his 2008 studio jam with LED ZEPPELIN guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones and drummer Jason Bonham. The sessions were held after ZEPPELIN's successful December 2007 comeback show at the O2 Arena in London as a way to possibly keep the band going without frontman Robert Plant, who refused to commit to additional shows.
"That was nuts in a good way," he said (see video below). "Because he's the guy [Page], for me, besides Eddie Van Halen, initially, that was 'the guy.' Both of those guys, I had posters of them all over my wall and to be standing there in front of one of them as he's playing his guitar and I'm singing his songs was a trip."
Kennedy was then asked what he learned from playing with a legendary guitar player such as Page. "What I learned during that period was that…I think what I already knew, it just reaffirmed, the guy's a genius," he said. "That's the thing about ZEPPELIN for me, they all were. Singing with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, it was like watching the way John would do things, I felt like he's just as important in the mix, especially hearing that in the same room and being privy to their interaction. That was amazing. And Jason Bonham, he was brilliant in that context. It was a great experience."
Kennedy previously told VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show" that he would "remember to [his] dying day" the rehearsals he had with Page, Jones and Bonham. "We played 'The Rain Song', which is probably my favorite LED ZEPPELIN song, 'No Quarter', 'Kashmir'. It was a lot of fun," he said.
ALTER BRIDGE released its sixth studio album, "Walk The Sky", last October via Napalm Records.
Kennedy issued his debut solo album, "Year Of The Tiger", in March 2018 via Napalm Records. The effort was helmed by ALTER BRIDGE's longtime producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette. | +7

BENEDICTION Singer's 'Serious Health Problems' Force Postponement Of South American Tour
BENEDICTION's previously announced South American tour has been postponed as a result of "serious health problems" suffered by vocalist Dave Ingram.
The long-running Birmingham, U.K.-based extreme metallers announced the cancelation in a social media post earlier today. They wrote: "Due to serious health problems suffered by vocalist Dave Ingram, the upcoming BENEDICTION tour of Latin America has, unfortunately, had to be postponed.
"Dave has had ongoing medical conditions including hip dysplasia and osteoporosis. Over the Christmas period, his condition worsened and infection set into the bone. This requires treatment to reduce infection and immediate surgery. As such Dave was in no position to complete this tour. We did everything in our power to find a solution to get through this (even the possibility of a replacement vocalist) but to no avail.
"I'm sure you appreciate that as friends we must put Dave's health above all and as a band, we need to be there with you guys as BENEDICTION, no replacements.
"To this end, Dave will have the surgery and take a few months off to regain his strength, and we are at this moment rescheduling all of the shows.
"We apologise to all involved in organising this and especially to our loyal fans, and we hope you understand.
"Thank you for your support.
"Our new album release and summer shows will all go ahead as scheduled.
"Keep watching for updates. We WILL be back."
Ingram rejoined BENEDICTION last summer. His return to BENEDICTION came two months after the departure of the band's previous singer, Dave Hunt. Hunt's schedule had become increasingly congested with his commitments to both BENEDICTION and ANAAL NATHRAKH, as well as his relentless studies for his PhD. Therefore, Dave decided to vacate the role in BENEDICTION he commanded for over 20 years.
Ingram first joined BENEDICTION in 1990, just before the band began writing its second album, "The Grand Leveller", and left in May 1998.
BENEDICTION's latest album, "Killing Music", was released in North America in September 2008 via Locomotive Records. The follow-up to 2001's "Organized Chaos" was produced by ANAAL NATHRAKH mastermind Mick Kenney and featured several guest musicians, including Karl Willets (BOLT THROWER), Kelly Shaefer (ATHEIST), Billy Gould (ex-FAITH NO MORE), The Fog (FROST), Markus Staiger (Nuclear Blast Records owner) and Thorsten Zahn from Metal Hammer Germany.
Mark "Barney" Greenway was the lead vocalist on BENEDICTION's debut album, "Subconscious Terror", which came out in 1990. Shortly after the LP's release, he exited the band to join NAPALM DEATH.
Due to serious health problems suffered by vocalist Dave Ingram, the upcoming Benediction tour of Latin America has,...

TAYLOR HAWKINS & THE COATTAIL RIDERS Joined By DAVE GROHL And PERRY FARRELL For 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' Performance
TAYLOR HAWKINS & THE COATTAIL RIDERS were the musical guests on last night's (Tuesday, January 7) episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" They performed two songs — "Middle Child" with Dave Grohl on drums, and "I Really Blew It" with Grohl and special guest Perry Farrell of JANE'S ADDICTION.
"Middle Child" and "I Really Blew It" are taken from TAYLOR HAWKINS AND THE COATTAIL RIDERS' latest album, "Get The Money", which was released in November via Shanabelle/RCA Records. Produced by John Lousteau and Taylor himself, and mixed by Sylvia Massy, the disc follows Taylor's 2016 six-song mini-LP "KOTA" by three years almost to the day, and features a scope far wider than "KOTA"'s takes on suburbia's bizarro underbelly. The new album finds Taylor, Chris Chaney (bass) and Brent Woods (guitar) and Lousteau accompanied by an all-star supporting cast including Grohl and Pat Smear, Roger Taylor, Joe Walsh, Duff McKagan, Nancy Wilson, Chrissie Hynde, Perry Farrell, LeAnn Rimes and more, collectively creating a staggering, epic sprawl that swerves from classic rock to prog and glam and all points between.
Since the Texas-born Laguna-bred force of nature made his Foo Fighting debut on the tour supporting 1997's sophomore opus "The Colour And The Shape", he has been an essential element of the sound and personality of the last great American arena/stadium rock band. He's played on Grammy-winning FF albums, including "There Is Nothing Left To Lose", "One by One" and "Wasting Light", and contributed lead vocals to "Concrete And Gold"'s "Sunday Rain", as well as "Cold Day In The Sun" from 2005's "In Your Honor". Taylor's previous extracurricular output includes two albums from TAYLOR HAWKINS AND THE COATTAIL RIDERS, one with THE BIRDS OF SATAN, the above-mentioned "KOTA" mini-LP that featured Hawkins on lead vocals and nearly every instrument. | +1

Watch SILVERSTEIN's 'Infinite' Video Feat. AARON GILLESPIE Of UNDEROATH
On March 6, SILVERSTEIN will celebrate its 20th anniversary with the release of "A Beautiful Place To Drown", the Ontario-based post-hardcore legends' ninth, and perhaps strongest effort to date.
Today, the band share the disc's lead single/video, "Infinite", featuring Aaron Gillespie of UNDEROATH. A blistering cut of aggression and melody, "Infinite" demonstrates SILVERSTEIN's ability to seamlessly blend modern sonics with the evergreen energy of their punk roots.
Watch the official music video for "Infinite" below.
While many bands would take their 20-year anniversary as an opportunity to rest on the laurels of nostalgia, SILVERSTEIN (vocalist Shane Told, guitarists Paul Marc Rousseau and Josh Bradford, bassist Billy Hamilton, and drummer Paul Koehler) sees the landmark as a time to appreciate how far it has come, while also channeling all those years of experience into something new.
Said Paul Marc Rousseau: "The best way to honour the anniversary is to keep doing what got us this far. Being adventurous has always been part of what the band does – we keep focusing on moving forward."
"A Beautiful Place To Drown" finds the five-piece deftly balancing their core sound — an intensely dynamic mix of melody and aggression, rooted in the energy of hardcore punk and the unabashed earnestness of emo — with their natural growth as songwriters and evolving inspirations. Recorded with producer/engineer Sam Guaiana, the album's 12 tracks blend vibrant contemporary sonics with walls of distorted guitars and pummeling drums to create a sound that's stunningly cohesive, and undeniably SILVERSTEIN.
Added Shane Told: "It's harder to gauge success these days but we're still making what we believe is our best music. It's nice to know that we've survived and we did it in a way that feels right."
"A Beautiful Place To Drown" track listing:
01. Bad Habits (feat. Intervals)
02. Burn It Down (feat. Caleb Shomo)
03. Where Are You
04. Infinity (feat. Aaron Gillespie)
05. Shape Shift
06. All On Me
07. Madness (feat. Princess Nokia)
08. Say Yes
09. Stop
10. September 14th
11. Coming Down
12. Take What You Give (feat. Pierre Bouvier)
SILVERSTEIN will tour heavily throughout 2020 with extensive dates in Europe, North America and more. Honoring their entire catalog in the live setting, the band will perform three sets at each show: their seminal 2005 full-length "Discovering The Waterfront" in full, a stripped-down acoustic section, and a careering-spanning batch of fan favorites.

Listen To Previously Unreleased AVENGED SEVENFOLD Song 'Set Me Free'
AVENGED SEVENFOLD has shared a previously unreleased song called "Set Me Free". The track, which was originally recorded for 2013's "Hail To The King" album, will be included on the streaming version of "Diamonds In The Rough", which is coming on February 7.
Released in 2008, "Live In The LBC & Diamonds In The Rough" was AVENGED SEVENFOLD's first live DVD and compilation album. The DVD featured the band's April 10, 2008 show at Long Beach Arena headlining the Rockstar Taste Of Chaos tour, while the CD contained previously unreleased B-sides that were recorded during the making of the band's self-titled 2007 album, plus covers, and other never-before-heard material.
AVENGED SEVENFOLD kept a low profile during 2019 and will not return to the road until later this year. A blood blister on singer M. Shadows's vocal cords forced the band to cancel a summer 2018 tour with PROPHETS OF RAGE and THREE DAYS GRACE.
In September 2018, AVENGED SEVENFOLD released a new song called "Mad Hatter". The track was recorded for the "Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4" video game and was included on AVENGED SEVENFOLD's "Black Reign" EP. The effort contained all four songs the band has written and recorded for the "Call Of Duty: Black Ops" franchise.
AVENGED SEVENFOLD's latest album, "The Stage", was surprise-released in October 2016. The release of the disc, which was announced the night it went on sale, earned the lowest sales of an AVENGED SEVENFOLD album in 11 years. It sold 76 thousand copies in its first week, 73 thousand of which were physical.
"The Stage", AVENGED's debut for Capitol, sold less than half as many copies in its first week as the group's two previous efforts, 2010's "Nightmare" and "Hail To The King". | +8

THE DARKNESS Enlists Model/TV Personality ABBEY CLANCY For 'In Another Life' Video
British rockers THE DARKNESS have released the official music video for their new single "In Another Life". The song is taken from their critically acclaimed U.K. Top 10 album "Easter Is Cancelled", out now via Cooking Vinyl.
"In Another Life" is a gargantuan rock opera, celebrating the multiverse theory running through their quasi-concept album, with the song capturing love and loss. The video finds frontman Justin Hawkins banished to hell, only to be redeemed by the power of rock pulsating through his guardian angel bandmates Dan, Frankie and Rufus and model and TV personality Abbey Clancy as an archangel.
Regarding the video, Clancy says: "It was so much fun saving Justin from the fiery gates of hell. I'm a big fan of THE DARKNESS and I'm so happy they asked me to be involved. The guys made the video shoot so easy and we had so much fun on set. It looks amazing, and playing an angel was a heavenly way to spend the day."
Justin says: "These days music videos are too often an afterthought when structuring an album campaign... 'walk towards the camera looking mean... ooh, jump off that... Make it look like that thing is going up your bum,' the director suggests, and like spaniels we obediently do so, at the expense of dignity and self respect. The results are invariably rubbish.
"In Kristy ['Kristy May Currie' ('Hells Bells' co-director)], we have found our savior. She came to us with an entire concept, storyboard, shot list and cast. All we had to do was look fabulous and 'act.' It was like the glorious olden days, when everything we did mattered enough to be done properly. Kristy is brilliant and passionate and I hope we get to work with her again!
"I know from my own experience that when one is as beautiful as Abbey Clancy, there is no obligation to be nice to anybody. There's no obligation for her to do anything at all; the sheer force of her beauty will bend the universe to her will. Nevertheless, she is the living embodiment of grace and kindness. Aside from her brilliant acting and dazzling appearance, she was awesome company and we had a great laugh all day. I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps she is an actual angel. Anyway, I'm a disciple of Clancy and I make no apologies for that. I hereby dedicate my life to her.
"I hope folks enjoy this vid, it was a thrill to make. We all insisted on doing our own stunts so this may be the last THE DARKNESS music video for a while as we explore opportunities in Hollywood.'
"Easter Is Cancelled" is THE DARKNESS's most diverse and exciting album yet, examining the role of the musician in the barbarous culture of the world today. At the heart of the tale is love, loss and heartbreak, where redemption is ultimately found in the brotherhood of band friendship and the power of the guitar.
Released in October, "Easter Is Cancelled" became the band's fourth Top 10 album, having achieved over three million streams on Spotify alone. The album was released to swathes of critical praise while the previous singles "Heart Explodes" and "Rock And Roll Deserves To Die" proved a radio hit on the playlists of BBC Radio 2, Absolute, Kerrang! and more. The hilarious video for "Rock And Roll Deserves To Die" has also individually surpassed one million views. | +5

Former HAWKWIND Drummer MARTIN GRIFFIN Passes - "A Fine Officer And Gentleman Of The Old School"
Former Hawkwind drummer Martin Griffin, who was a member of Hawklords, has died. His Hawklords bandmates issued a statement via social media announcing his passing:
"It is with great sadness that we announce that our dear friend and fellow Hawklord, Martin Griffin, has died.
Martin became a member of Hawklords '78 after he and Harvey Bainbridge, the rhythm section from Ark, were signed up by Hawkwind (actually Bob Calvert) to record the 25 Years On album of that year. A complete and irresistible force of nature, he was a very welcome participant at several Hawklords shows over the last 10 years and always a splendid guest when attending the many shows that we have played in the Plymouth area of the UK.
Martin was a fine officer and gentleman of the old school and a terrific drummer, with a style as thoughtful and equally laid back in it's approach as he was. He will be very much missed by those of us that knew him, by Harvey in particular and by the Hawk-Fraternity around the world.
Our thoughts are with his son Jack and family at this sad time.
Fly high, Wing Commander. We Love You."
Griffiun appeared on the Hawkwind albums 25 Years On (1978), Sonic Attack (1981), Church Of Hawkwind (1982) and Choose Your Masques (1982).

MÖTLEY CRÜE's VINCE NEIL Is 'Killing It' While Working With 'Trainers' And 'Nutritionists' In Preparation For 'The Stadium Tour'
MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx says that singer Vince Neil is "killing it" while working with "trainers" and "nutritionists" in preparation for the opening night of the band's upcoming "The Stadium Tour" with DEF LEPPARD, POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS.
Asked by a fan on Twitter about Vince's health, Nikki responded: "Vince is killing it. Trainers nutritionists focused on opening night. The whole band is."
Sixx's latest comments echo those made by MÖTLEY CRÜE manager Allen Kovac, who admitted in a recent interview with Fox Business that "some of" the members of the band were working with trainers and nutritionists to get in shape for the upcoming reunion tour. Kovac was referring to criticism of Neil for his supposed diminished singing ability and weight gain, as well as the health status of guitarist Mick Mars, who has been dealing with a chronic form of arthritis that led him to undergo a hip replacement.
Kovac explained: "Some of them are working with a trainer, some of them are working with a nutritionist to make themselves the best they can be. The greatest insecurity for an artist is: Is anyone going to care about my music? Is anyone going to buy a ticket? We were in November when the discussions were happening, and these guys were already into regimens of how they get ready for a tour."
Speaking specifically about Neil, Kovac added: "Let's see what Vince sings like and looks like when the tour goes out."
"The Stadium Tour" will kick off on June 21 in San Antonio, Texas and will include newly announced gigs in Kansas City, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Nashville, Cincinnati and Cleveland. The trek marks CRÜE's first live dates since wrapping its 2014/2015 farewell tour. The band toured with POISON back in 2011 and DEF LEPPARD teamed up with POISON for a string of road dates in 2017 — but the upcoming jaunt marks the first time all four acts have hit the road together for an extended tour.
Vince is killing it. Trainers nutritionists focused on opening night. ?????? The whole band is.

VOICES OF RUIN - Melodic Death Metal Group Signs With M-Theory Audio; Path To Immortality Album Due This Spring
Orange County, California-based melodic death metal quintet, Voices Of Ruin - who bested dozens of unsigned groups to serve as America's representative in the 2018 Wacken Metal Battle - have signed with M-Theory Audio. The group will release their third album, Path To Immortality, in the spring.
Since brothers Dave (vocals) and Tom Barrett (guitars) founded the group more than a decade ago, Voices Of Ruin have performed extensively in support of their two self-released albums, 2010's Into Oblivion and 2015's Born From The Dark. In 2019, the band returned to the studio to record Path To Immortality with former Soulfly/Machine Head guitarist Logan Mader (Gojira, SepticFlesh). More information on the new album will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
“Voices Of Ruin is very excited to announce that we'll be collaborating with M Theory Audio for the release of our next record,” explains guitarist Tom. “This record is absolutely crushing and we believe that Marco and his team will do an excellent job of helping us push things to the next level. The team at M-Theory has a wealth of experience in the ever-evolving metal scene and a roster of insanely talented bands. Voices Of Ruin is extremely honoured to be a part of the team and we look forward to shredding the world on this next album cycle. Rage!"
While vocalist Dave expands, “Following the successful release of our first two albums, we felt that it was time to push this beast further and work with a label that can really support us. It was also important that we find a team that operates in a brotherhood/family style atmosphere that complements our camp here at Voices Of Ruin! We feel strongly that Marco and his team are a perfect fit for this next chapter for VoR. We couldn't be more excited that M-Theory believes in this record as much as we do! We are ready to shred with beers held high to support this next musical adventure! So...who's ready to PARTY!!!”
“I’ve been aware of Voices Of Ruin for several years, as they are a staple of the So Cal metal scene and there’s no doubt their commitment and work ethic as all they’ve achieved locally and moreso touring internationally as an unsigned band,” comments M-Theory Audio’s Marco Barbieri. “My interest was raised when witnessing the band crushing their competition in the Wacken Metal Battle and getting to know the guys on a more personal level afterwards and seeing first-hand their fierce determination. Ultimately when they shared tracks from their new album I was blown away as the songs, playing and production are all on another level with such a fine mix of dark melodies combined with aggressive heavy music that I knew we had to get involved.”
Voices Of Ruin describe their sound as an epically-crafted blend of classic heavy metal and modern death metal that also pays homage to the traditional Scandinavian melodic death metal sound. In addition to winning the US Wacken Metal Battle in 2018, The group supported Vader across North America on the 2017 Strike Of The Empire tour; toured Europe with Internal Bleeding and Sacrificial Slaughter; toured Japan with Vader and Hate; and performed extensively in Southern California alongside a number of notable acts, including Morbid Angel, Trivium, Devildriver, Dark Tranquillity, Amorphis, Cattle Decapitation, Dying Fetus and Origin. For the past five years, the band has also organized the annual Ruinfest festival, a celebration of California's extreme metal scene that has featured the likes of Fallujah, Exmortus, Pessimist, Skeletal Remains, Helsott and Letum Ascensus.
Voices Of Ruin's next live appearance will take place in Anaheim, California on January 25. The band will also support Insomnium and Omnium Gatherum in Santa Ana, California on April 3.
Lineup:
Dave Barrett - vocals
Tom Barrett - lead guitar
Steve Calton - rhythm guitar
Wally Myers - bass
Lonnie Vanhorn - drums

THE NEAL MORSE BAND future
From there, Portnoy says, "NEAL MORSE BAND is back in line after the TRANSATLANTIC cycle. We always have to think at least a year ahead, so if TRANSATLANTIC is coming out at the end of 2020 and maybe touring at the beginning of '21, we would hope to have a new NEAL MORSE BAND album out by mid-'21, which means we have to start recording it [in 2020]. It's like this never-ending juggling of schedules that we have to do, but we want to make sure every band gets its fair share in the spotlight, because we're so proud of each of them." | +2

Listen To CHESTER BENNINGTON Sing On New Single From His Pre-LINKIN PARK Band GREY DAZE
GREY DAZE, the '90s-era band helmed by Chester Bennington and featuring drummer Sean Dowdell, bass player Mace Beyers and guitarist Cristin Davis, give fans an early listen to their as-yet-untitled Loma Vista Recordings debut album with the release of the single "What's In the Eye".
Before he sang, screamed, and serenaded audiences of millions throughout his storied career in LINKIN PARK and a host of other projects, Chester cut his teeth in GREY DAZE. The mid-'90s band released a pair of albums ("Wake Me" and "No Sun Today") but unsurprisingly the young Phoenix-based band was lacking the expertise and financial resources to fulfill their vision. In 2017, Chester announced a GREY DAZE reunion which would see the band members, now with those previously lacking resources, re-working and re-recording a collection of songs from those early releases. The resulting music represents an important, yet unheard chapter — the origin story of one of modern rock's most recognizable voices, and also a full circle moment among friends.
Prior to his untimely passing, Chester personally announced a 2017 GREY DAZE reunion on social media. As he never got the chance to launch the reunion himself, his bandmates, friends, family, and various collaborators stepped up to give the music the second chance it deserved, finishing what the late singer started.
"Over the years we'd become more knowledgeable, more experienced, and had more resources, so we decided to pick a selection of songs from our previously released albums and re-record them the way they deserved to have been treated back in the '90s when we initially wrote and released them," explained the band in an open letter posted to their social media channels in December. "By February 2017 we started recording and in June, Chester and Sean announced the reunion, with a live performance planned for that fall. Unfortunately, as we all know, that never happened."
Originally recorded in 1993 and 1996, "What's In The Eye" was re-written and modernized by GREY DAZE under the guidance of producers Chris Traynor (BUSH, HELMET, ORANGE 9MM), Kyle Hoffman and Jay Baumgardner. Using Chester's original vocals, the song showcases that, even at the age of 17, Chester was already "delivering intense, almost physically palpable emotion" (New York Times). "What's In The Eye" was written lyrically in different phases by both Sean and Chester collaboratively. The song focuses on a friend's premature death in a car accident and trying to understand the loss, relaying an emotional intensity that every listener will not only understand, but instantly connect with. The beauty of Chester's gifts were that he made others able to understand and cope with their own emotional pain, simply by listening to Chester's vocal expression.
"As a teenager, when these recordings were done, he had this incredible raw and somewhat undeveloped voice that had an incredible tone. He had this ability to sing great rock melodies punctuated by that unmistakable guttural scream. Chester's voice had a personality that made you a believer," said Loma Vista Recordings founder and president Tom Whalley. "Listening to the new versions of these tracks, I think it represents everything that the band members and the family told me that Chester wanted to achieve with re-recording this body of work."
Additional details about the album will be revealed in the coming weeks. A series of letters about the project and passion behind its release were posted on various social media channels in December. Aside from his GREY DAZE bandmates, Chester's widow, Talinda Bennington, his mother, Susan Eubanks, and his son Jamie Bennington, shared their thoughts about the forthcoming release.
Open letter from Talinda Bennington (Chester's widow):
"One of Chester's greatest gifts was music. The only thing he took more pride in was being a father to his children. Given how much he cared, he wanted fans to hear everything he did, and his musical journey started with GREY DAZE.
"In February 2017, Chester and his bandmates began re-recording their music for a planned re-release of the band's early music and by June, he announced that GREY DAZE was reuniting and would be playing a 20th-anniversary reunion show that fall. He was so enthusiastic about doing this, and he was eager to play rock music with messages that he knew would be meaningful to fans. It also meant a lot to him to be working with his GREY DAZE bandmates, Sean Dowdell (with whom he had a very special friendship, and was a business partner in Club Tattoo), along with Mace Beyers, and Cristin Davis. He'd known them more than half of his life.
"When Chester passed away, GREY DAZE's reunion seemed like an afterthought to everyone involved; they were suffering, I was suffering, and there were way too many emotions to work through before we could even think about what would happen to that project. Once the clouds lifted a bit, once we could focus on what Chester would want us to do, we looked for a way to continue what Chester was working on — the things he was proud of and wanted to share with his fans. The GREY DAZE project is one of the ways we can continue to tell Chester's story and connect with his fans.
"Through our foundation, 320, I endeavor every day making sure Chester's legacy shines a light for positive change. For us, releasing a new GREY DAZE album will shine a light on where my husband started and hopefully give his fans a better understanding of his art and a more full picture of his journey through this incredible music."
Open letter from Susan Eubanks (Chester's mom):
"It's hard for me to remember a time when Chester didn't tell me he was going to be a rock star. He had discovered music at a very young age, and I can even recall the first time I saw him sing: a two-year-old mimicking the songs to 'Grease!'; he loved to sing Olivia Newton John's!
"Music was a constant for him. He was always listening to bands, but it was when he was 13 that he began to tell me that he was going to be a singer. He was trying out for local bands, playing with friends, and doing what normal teenage boys do when they dream about becoming a 'rock star.' I was encouraging, but obviously wanted him to keep his feet firmly planted on the ground and focused on his education.
"At 15, he came home with his slightly older friend, who seemed immensely older to me in comparison to Chester, Sean Dowdell. I laugh now when I think that Sean was a mere 17 at the time. Sean was forming a local band that was in need of a singer, and Chester was eager to fill that role. That band would become GREY DAZE. As any parent would be, I was reluctant to have my 15-year-old son going to clubs but I cautiously gave my permission once I saw how Sean treated Chester, not just as a new bandmate, but as a protective older brother. Over the past 25 years, Sean has become a part of our family.
"Missing Chester is now a part of my daily life but of course, grief comes in waves, so most of the time I try to remember the joy he brought to me, and the happiness his music brought to so many people. It was in that mindset that I gave Sean my blessing to continue the work he and Chester had begun on reimagining the GREY DAZE music. A year later, Sean very proudly played me the results of his, Mace, and Cristin's work, allowing me to be one of the first people to hear it. When that voice rang out, I remembered the teenage Chester and Sean and thought of how remarkable they would have found all of this. I am grateful that because of Sean's efforts Chester's fans have the opportunity to hear his music again."
Open letter from Jamie Bennington (Chester's son):
"To be honest, I didn't know that GREY DAZE was coming back. My dad was the type to keep his work private if it wasn't finished, so I never heard about his reunion with Sean Dowdell and Mace Beyers to revitalize his first ever rock band. All that I knew was that my dad was looking, once again, to reinvent himself as an artist. Something that was far from unusual considering he was, and always will be, one of the most amoebic vocal talents to ever live. With that being said, to say that getting a call from Sean nearly two years after his death concerning an album they had been working on together in secret was a surprise is an understatement.
"Sean asked me to come down and record some backup vocals at NRG. I said yes. Of course, I said yes. And what an experience it was. In a lot of ways, I got to meet the teenage version of my father. I got to reconnect with my own childhood friends. And I got to pilgrimage to the very place that LINKIN PARK got their start. Most importantly, though, I got to work on one of the last things my dad ever made. Something I had so many questions about, like: How were they going to continue to work on an album when the lead vocalist was no longer in the picture?
"I had been told that there were no plans to bring in another vocalist to replace my dad on the album, but I didn't understand at the time what that actually meant. It was only when I stepped into the studio that I saw the magic being performed. And by magic, I mean magic. Sean Dowdell, Esjay Jones, and Lucas D'Angelo are miracle workers who not only had massive holes to fill in the production of album but had rather limited means of filling them. But they did it. They did it with only masters of old GREY DAZE recordings and the goodwill of friends and family.
"Thank you so much for having me and congratulations on accomplishing the impossible."
Open letter from GREY DAZE:
"We met Chester when he was a scrappy 15-year-old and we were 'seasoned' 17-year-olds. We've been friends, bandmates, and in Sean's case, business partners (via Club Tattoo), ever since. We were present for the highs, and witness to the lows. Chester was the heart and soul of GREY DAZE. It was his enthusiasm, lyrical prowess and emotional integrity that propelled us to record and release two albums and a demo and it was with great pride that we watched the magic we knew was in him shared with the world.
"Reuniting GREY DAZE was something that we'd been kicking around for years, but because of work and family commitments, we hadn't had a chance to turn the idea into reality until early 2017. Over the years we'd become more knowledgeable, more experienced, and had more resources, so we decided to pick a selection of songs from our previously released albums and re-record them the way they deserved to have been treated back in the '90s when we initially wrote and released them. By February 2017 we started recording and in June, Chester and Sean announced the reunion, with a live performance planned for that fall. Unfortunately, as we all know, that never happened.
"When Talinda, Chester's widow, and his parents, gave us their blessing to move forward with the project, we did so with the utmost care, making sure to honor his legacy as well as handle the music we had written together with the utmost care. We all wanted to fulfill Chester's dream of people hearing GREY DAZE music as he always envisioned it. We also wanted to make sure we had the proper steward for this.
"We reached out to Tom Whalley, the person who had been the head of Warner Bros. Records for the first nine years of LINKIN PARK's existence and someone who knew Chester well, with hopes he'd be interested in doing this release via his Loma Vista Recordings. Executive producer Jay Baumgardner and Tom helped us to see our vision through, re-recording the music but keeping Chester's vocals intact. The fact that we got to re-track and rewrite the music around his vocals was an amazing experience. This is what our good friend wanted. He wanted the music to feel fresh and relevant, so people who knew his music but not his original band, could relate to it. That's what we've tried to do with this GREY DAZE record now.
"We cannot wait for his fans and the world to hear this new album, we hope we made him, and you, proud."
Among the guest musicians set to appear on the recordings are Chester's 23-year-old son Jaime Bennington, KORN's Brian "Head" Welch and James "Munky" Shaffer, P.O.D.'s Marcos Curiel, BUSH's Chris Traynor, as well as Ryan Shuck, Chester's bandmate in DEAD BY SUNRISE. The resulting album will be released via Loma Vista Recordings.
In a new interview with Kerrang!, GREY DAZE drummer Sean Dowdell spoke about how the band formed in the first place and his first impressions of the frontman.
"He and I had a connection in writing music together," Sean said. "We loved to write lyrics because we both have a talent to express emotional intent. I just got him on that level. I could tell what he was trying to convey and I could help shape it. He was a genius in the ability to express his emotions into metaphor."
Regarding what fans can expect from GREY DAZE's forthcoming album, Sean said: "There is a depth in the lyrics on this record. Chester sings every word like he believes every single emotion attached. It's bittersweet for me. There's that big, obvious looming thing that he's not here to share this with me. But I'm very proud in how we curated this music. We took almost three years to make this record after he passed. I think he'd be quite proud of what we did."
In a 2001 interview with Revolver magazine, Chester described GREY DAZE's musical style as "early-'90s -style rock. It wasn't pop rock, it wasn't heavy metal. It was in between grunge and good rock. We didn't know what we were doing. We were just writing songs and singing. It was a four-piece band. Some of our songs were more rock. Others were more, I don't know, alternative? I've always been into punk and classic rock. The first few years of being a musician, it was all cover band stuff, and we'd throw in a few originals. The last band I was in, I was in it for almost eight years. We made two albums, and tried really hard."
He added: "I definitely know why it didn't go anywhere: We all wanted to make it, but we all wanted to make it for different reasons. It wasn't all about making good songs, where anything else that comes from that is a fringe benefit."
Bennington was found dead in his Los Angeles-area home in July 2017 after hanging himself.
LINKIN PARK headlined an all-star tribute concert for Bennington in October 2017 in Los Angeles but has not announced any future plans for recording or touring.

DRAGONFORCE Recruits Bassist ALICIA VIGIL
This past September, DRAGONFORCE unleashed its eighth full-length, "Extreme Power Metal", worldwide. In support of this release, the band will head out on the road next month in Europe, before touring the USA with UNLEASH THE ARCHERS and VISIONS OF ATLANTIS. Both of these treks will see Alicia Vigil (VIGIL OF WAR) handling bass and backing vocals for DRAGONFORCE.
Vigil comments: "So beyond stoked that DRAGONFORCE chose me to be a part of this! I can't wait to travel the world and play these new cities with them and be a part of their legacy!"
DRAGONFORCE guitarist Herman Li adds: "Alicia was recommended to me by a number of musician friends in L.A. She impressed me with her playing, her professionalism, and her ability to learn the DRAGONFORCE songs really quickly! I'm excited to have her playing on this tour and I think the fans will really like what she brings to the show."
DRAGONFORCE will be streaming its world tour live on twitch.tv/hermanli. Livestreams will include performances, backstage and special guest appearances.
Last August, DRAGONFORCE parted ways with longtime bassist Frédéric Leclercq. Playing bass for the group at its recent shows was Damien Rainaud, who produced "Extreme Power Metal".
DRAGONFORCE's platinum-selling single "Through The Fire And Flames" brought the London-based Grammy-nominated extreme power metal group international acclaim and was featured as the most challenging song on "Guitar Hero III".
Last March, the "Through The Fire And Flames" music video reached a new milestone: it surpassed one hundred million views on YouTube — DRAGONFORCE's first music video to do so.
"Through The Fire And Flames" is the leadoff track from 2006's "Inhuman Rampage" album, which was officially certified gold in July 2017 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales in excess of half a million copies.

BLACK STAR RIDERS Release Music Video For 'In The Shadow Of A War Machine'
BLACK STAR RIDERS have released the official music video for their latest single, "In The Shadow Of A War Machine". The song is taken from the band's fourth album "Another State Of Grace", which was released in September via Nuclear Blast.
According to a press release, "In The Shadow Of A War Machine" "describes the condition in which we all currently live in — a world where economical interest prevails over the common good; a world where we are forced to face constant uncertainties.
"As the band say, 'vote for a clown, you have a circus.' The music perfectly reflects the content — the pounding rhythm of each verse echoes the oppression of the war machine, the heavier and more aggressive chorus underlines the frustration we feel rising every day."
The follow-up to 2017's "Heavy Fire", "Another State Of Grace" was recorded in February 2019 at Sphere Studios in Burbank, California with producer Jay Ruston (STONE SOUR, ANTHRAX, URIAH HEEP). The album was made available on CD, vinyl and vinyl picture disc, limited-edition boxset and limited-edition light green vinyl.
Longtime supporter Joe Elliott, vocalist of DEF LEPPARD, said: "I've been an ardent supporter ever since they started their journey having moved away from being THIN LIZZY and becoming a legitimate band in their own right. For me, this is by far their best effort to date."
Frontman Ricky Warwick said: "This has probably been the most enjoyable experience in the studio I have had making a record. The vibe and commitment the boys brought into this was stellar. Our most anthemic and soulful album to date."
BLACK STAR RIDERS consists of Ricky Warwick (lead vocals, guitar), Scott Gorham (lead guitar) and Robert Crane (bass) along with recent additions Chad Szeliga (drums) and Christian Martucci (lead guitar). | +6

Former IRON MAIDEN Members Unite In IDES OF MARCH, Announce BEERMAGEDDON Festival Performance
IDES OF MARCH, fronted by Paul Di'Anno and including four former IRON MAIDEN members, will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of IRON MAIDEN's debut album in a headline Beermageddon festival performance in Bromsgrove, England on Sunday, August 30.
IDES OF MARCH has been specially formed for this totally unique occasion and this will be a one-off and never-to-be-repeated performance. The band lineup is:
Paul Di'Anno (ex-IRON MAIDEN) - Vocals
Terry Wapram (ex-IRON MAIDEN) - Guitar
Terry Rance (ex-IRON MAIDEN) - Guitar
Doug Sampson (ex-IRON MAIDEN) - Drums
Speed Harris (HI-ON MAIDEN) - Bass
This is being billed in a press release as Di'Anno's "final ever" live performance. After experiencing serious health difficulties in recent months, Paul has now apparently taken the advice of his doctors and will retire from the live stage in 2020 after the IDES OF MARCH performance at Beermageddon. It is going to take one mighty effort for Paul to pull off this performance but he is determined to go out in style and give his fans one memorable final thank you and goodbye.
Paul said: "It's been a tough four years waiting to play again. I hope to be standing for this show and I'm really looking forward to it. Standing up would be great. If not, Hell on wheels coming to ya!"
The IDES OF MARCH setlist for Beermageddon will include plenty of surprises with some songs being played live for the first time in literally decades. Stand by for further announcements during the run-up to August.
Beermageddon tickets are available at www.beermageddon.co.uk. A weekend ticket includes free camping, free parking and hot showers with no fees whatsoever. Beermageddon has sold out for the last eight years so make sure you don't miss out.
Wapram said: "Really looking forward to working with these guys. Our paths have crossed many times but we never played together. Should be a killer lineup and a very special night."
A forthcoming biographical documentary movie on Paul's life is currently in the making and the producers will be filming the Beermageddon performance. The movie is being created and directed by Wes Orshoski, the creator of "Lemmy - The Movie", and more details about the movie will be released during 2020.
Jim Beerman, festival organizer, added: "Beermageddon has always been about creating magical moments, and as an old-school metalhead, I can think of nothing better than closing this years festival with IDES OF MARCH, musicians who have played such a pivotal role in the history of metal, playing songs from arguably one of the greatest debut albums ever released, plus so much more. It doesn't get any more magical than that."

Video Premiere: WE CAME AS ROMANS' 'From The First Note'
WE CAME AS ROMANS have shared the video for their brand new song "From The First Note". Check it out below.
"From The First Note" and "Carry The Weight" serve as the first tracks that the band released since singer Kyle Pavone's tragic passing in August 2018.
Says guitarist Joshua Moore: "'From The First Note' is a song that celebrates the time that we got to spend with Kyle and acknowledges how truly remarkable of a brother and bandmate he was. Lyrically, I was able to reference 'To Plant A Seed' and 'Tracing Back Roots', which were both written about the start of the band and how we lived together. I was able to take Kyle's recorded vocal from 'To Plant A Seed' and fit it into the bridge of the song, so we can always hear him when we listen and play it."
"We wrote 'From The First Note' as a promise to Kyle to not only preserve the amazing moments and memories we had together, but to continue carrying on the legacy of everything we built together," says bassist Andy Glass. "The video portrays the band playing in a dream-like state, surrounded by beautiful colors and flowers. Our albums throughout the years have had themes of roots, branches, and overall growth. So we felt it was only right to create something that not only captured that essence but persevered it as well."
WE CAME AS ROMANS will embark on an 10th-anniversary tour celebrating its landmark, 2009-released album "To Plant A Seed". The trek kicks off on March 5 in Chicago and runs through April 11 in Pontiac, Michigan, and will feature support from THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, GIDEON and DAYSEEKER.
"To Plant A Seed" was a definitive sonic statement for WE CAME AS ROMANS and remains a fan favorite through this day. It's only fitting that the band commemorate the release.
"We're really excited to announce the 10-year anniversary tour for our first record 'To Plant A Seed'," said Moore at the time tour was announced. "Being able to watch our fans connect with us through music over the last decade has been an amazing privilege, and it all started with 'To Plant A Seed'. Way back in 2009 when we recorded it, we had no idea where it would take us or what we were really even doing, and it's awesome to see that we can play these songs still, and feel that connection with you."
He continued: "But over the course of 10 years, we've released four other albums and we're even working on a fifth! With that being said, we are going to be throwing these songs into the vault of old WE CAME AS ROMANS — and retiring them from all future setlists after this tour. So make sure you grab your tickets and come hear these songs one last time live." | 0
