BAD RELIGION's Autobiography 'Do What You Want' Due In August

"Do What You Want: The Story of Bad Religion", the all-access autobiography of BAD RELIGION, a Southern Californian institution and one of the most influential and long-standing punk rock bands of all time, will be released on August 18 via Hachette Books.

"Do What You Want: The Story of Bad Religion" reveals the ups and downs of the band's 40-year career. From their beginnings as teenagers jamming in a San Fernando Valley garage dubbed "The Hell Hole" to headlining major music festivals around the world, "Do What You Want" tells the whole story in irreverent style.

While "Do What You Want" tracks down nearly all of BAD RELIGION's members past and present, the chief storytellers are the four voices that define BAD RELIGION: Greg Graffin, a Wisconsin kid who sang in the choir and became an L.A. punk rock icon while he was still a teenager; Brett Gurewitz, a high school dropout who founded the independent punk label Epitaph Records and went on to become a record mogul; Jay Bentley, a surfer and skater who gained recognition as much for his bass skills as for his onstage antics; and Brian Baker, a founding member of MINOR THREAT who joined the band in 1994 and brings a fresh perspective as an intimate outsider.

With a unique blend of melodic hardcore and thought-provoking lyrics, BAD RELIGION paved the way for the punk rock explosion of the 1990s, opening the door for bands like NOFX, THE OFFSPRING, RANCID, GREEN DAY and BLINK-182 to reach wider audiences. They showed the world what punk could be, and they continue to spread their message one song, one show, one tour at a time — with no signs of stopping.

BAD RELIGION formed in Los Angeles in 1980, and ranks among the most influential American punk rock bands of all time. They have released 17 albums that have sold over five million copies, and they continue to sell out venues all over the world.

Ruland has been writing for punk rock zines like Flipside since the early '90s and has written for every issue of Razorcake, America's only non-profit independent music fanzine. He is the co-author of "My Damage" with Keith Morris, the founding vocalist of BLACK FLAG, CIRCLE JERKS and OFF!

MIKE PORTNOY Shoots Down Report He Will Join RUSH's GEDDY LEE And ALEX LIFESON For 'Permanent Waves' 40th-Anniversary Tour

Mike Portnoy has once again shot down rumors that he will tour with Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson as the replacement for RUSH drummer Neil Peart.

Portnoy was responding to a fake report from a Spanish web site posted on Día De Los Santos Inocentes (Holy Innocents' Day), which takes place on December 28 and is celebrated as a kind of Spanish April Fool's Day.

A couple of days after the article was published, Portnoy took to his Instagram to dismiss the report, writing: "Hahaha so everybody is sending this to me... Apparently some metal website posted a fake article saying I will be joining @rush in 2020 for a 40th Anniversary Tour for Permanent Waves! Even to the point of creating a fake Twitter post from me!

"While that's a pretty awesome (completely hypothetical) dream...and I would surely do it in a heartbeat...it's unfortunately not true!! (But it is a cool idea). In any case, just wanted to break the (real) news to anybody that had gotten their hopes up thinking that this may be real!"

Mike previously discussed the possibility of a collaboration with Lee and Lifeson during a January 2019 interview with Eric Blair of "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show". At the time, he said: "The reality is, look, those guys are my heroes and Neil as well, obviously. I would do it in a heartbeat if hypothetically it was ever asked. But I don't think in a million years it would ever happen without all three of them. And I love and respect and honor Neil so much, I would never wanna do anything without his blessing. But that being said, in a hypothetical world, if the call ever came, yeah, it would be a dream gig for me. Of course."

When Blair pointed out to Portnoy that a new Lee-Lifeson collaboration would not be called RUSH, making it easier for Mike to just "slip right in there," the drummer said: "Hey, I know the tunes. I've been playing 'em my whole life. In fact, I just did a really cool RUSH tribute. It's a steel drum tribute, with a pan drum orchestra of 50 different steel drummers and myself on drums and guitar and bass, and we recorded a bunch of RUSH songs, but with this 50-piece steel drum orchestra. It was really cool."

RUSH has been completely inactive since completing the "R40 Live" tour more than four years ago. Peart was battling enormous physical pain through much of the trek, including a foot infection that made it agonizing for him to even walk.

Lifeson and Lee have repeatedly said that RUSH will never do a show unless all three musicians agree to take part. They haven't performed as RUSH without Peart since he joined the band in 1974.

For first six years of RUSH's existence, John Rutsey was behind the kit and he played on the band's self-titled debut LP.

Portnoy told "The Chainsaw Symphony" radio show that he understood why Lifeson, Peart and Lee would want to call it quits while they were still at the peak of their playing ability.

"I grew up with [RUSH] and I went through a huge RUSH phase in the mid-'80s, early '80s when I was a teenager," he said. "Neil was always my hero back then, and since then I'm honored that we've become good friends and I cherish that relationship. And I've stayed a RUSH fan through all these years.

"It's sad to see it end, but you've gotta respect that, because if they can't deliver, and if they are in physical pain and they can't deliver what fans wanna see, I respect that they would go out on top," Mike said. "I don't like when I see bands that are just a memory of what they used to be, and there's a few out there that I've seen recently that are still touring… I'm not gonna name them, but some of the members can barely play their parts, and then they have a lot of other members that weren't even originally in the band. So I don't know. I would rather see a band like RUSH go out on top and have all the good memories of what they're capable of."

Finland's BABYLONFALL To Release Debut Album In April 2020; "Stars And Constellations" Single / Video Available

The new Finnish melodic death metal band Babylonfall is set to release their debut album, Collapse, on April 24th via Inverse Records. The band released their first music video / single, "Stars And Constellations".

The album consists of ten versatile metal tracks, which show a wide range of influences. The first single, "Stars And Constellations", dwells more on the sentimental side of the album, as the second single "Murder Of Crows", which is to be released on March 5th, is more of a traditional melodeath song. Lyrical themes of the album deal with "collapsing" on a personal and societal level. There are also scifi-themes as an added bonus.

Collapse was forged during late 2018 and early 2019 at Deep Noise Studios in Kouvola, Finland. It was recorded and mixed by Saku Moilanen. Mastering was done at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden by Tony Lindgren.

Tracklist:

"Murder Of Crows"
"Awakening"
"Blood Will Be My Crown"
"Silence"
"We Become One"
"Celestials"
"Stars And Constellations"
"Wrath"
"Burning Daylight"
"Distant Call Of Innocence"

THUNDERSTICK Feat. Former SAMSON / IRON MAIDEN Drummer Return With Single Release, Live Shows

Following a series of well-received live dates last year, Thunderstick - with their mesmerizing singer Raven Blackwing - are back with a new single and a return to live shows. Kent, England's legendary rock venue, Leo's Red Lion, will be the first to support the release on Saturday, February 8.

Barry Graham Purkis, aka Thunderstick: “The band will be touring our eccentric Anomaly stage show throughout 2020. For those about to experience us live for the first time prepare yourself for the journey. We are the ‘Dark Cabaret Theatre Hooligans' and we will steal your rock'n'roll hearts.”

Raven Blackwing: “I’m very excited about the upcoming release. It’ll be my first Thunderstick recordings. I was given so much love and support throughout my first year with the band, we thought a ‘limited edition’ reworking of a couple of tracks from the Something Wicked This Way Comes album would be a cool way to say thank you. My own particular milestone. It also sets the scene for the band's very first live album Something Wicked This Way Came…Thunderstick Live in France. I hope that our fans enjoy both. Luv Raven xx”

The single features the tracks "Go Sleep With The Enemy" and "I Close My Eyes", which will be familiar to fans, reworked for the unique voice of Raven Blackwing. The single, out on February 7 via Roulette Records, will be available in both CD and digital formats.

Charismatic Raven Blackwing will lead her thunderous band mates Vinny Konrad (guitar), Lee Quenby (guitar), Rex Thunderbolt (bass) and the legendary Thunderstick/Barry Graham Purkis (drums) on a series of UK and European dates throughout the year. UK festivals Breaking Bands on May 25 and Cornwall Rocks on November 20 have now been confirmed, with many more to be announced. A new live album, Something Wicked This Way Came - Thunderstick Live In France is set for release in March on Roulette, followed by a brand new studio album currently being recorded for release in July.

Best known for his time with Samson and in early Iron Maiden, Barry Graham Purkis (aka Thunderstick) has been the legendary icon for the NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) scene since the late 70s. His eponymously named band, renowned for its female fronted power rock and theatricality, have a considerable heritage. The band played live and recorded for six years both in the UK and in the United States throughout the 1980s until playing their last gig in October 1986. Then In 2016 former lead vocalist, Jodee Valentine, tragically died following a five-year battle with early onset Alzheimer's. In recognition of Jodee's memory Barry decided to record some songs that Jodee had performed live. This became the ‘Something Wicked This Way Comes’ album, the first new Thunderstick product in over thirty years. It was released in July 2017 to enthusiastic reviews worldwide.

Barry: ‘It was never my intention to put a performing band together but In light of the positive encouragement I received and much deliberation a new Thunderstick was formed. Staying true to its theatrical recognition we have been gathering momentum once more amongst the rock fraternity. The next chapter in this amazing story is ready for the writing.”

RATT Guitarist Says Band Plans To 'Put Out A Few Singles' In The Coming Months

New RATT lead guitarist Jordan Ziff — who is also a member of Marty Friedman's backing band — recently spoke with Mark Strigl of Talking Metal. The full conversation can be streamed below. A few excerpts follow (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On joining RATT:

Jordan: "It's just one of those things — mutual friends recommend you for something. There's no, like, secret way to get involved with bands or anything — it's kind of just word of mouth, people recommending you for types of gigs. Same thing with Marty — a mutual friend was, like, 'Hey, dude. You've got to listen to this guy,' and then Marty hit me up and was like, 'I really dig your playing. Would you like to play in my band?'"

On RATT's future plans:

Jordan: "We've all kind of been writing on our own, because we haven't really had a lot of time to get together and do some writing together. Come January, we have some time off, so we're all going to get together and write some stuff and put out a few singles. [That's] kind of what we're looking to do — not a full album, just do track-by-track. We don't need to sit and spend a million years trying to do a whole album when, at the end of the day, it's just like, 'Let's just write a good song [and] put it out, [then] write another good song [and] put it out.' I feel like that's the best way to do it these days anyway... I have some song structures. I know Juan [Croucier, bass] does; I know Stephen [Pearcy, vocals] does. It's all about just getting in a room and seeing what totally clicks with all of us jamming together."

On writing music for a band that peaked commercially before he was even alive:

Jordan: "When I started writing, I was kind of thinking about that, and I thought I could do a little bit of both — what would fit kind of in that stream of what they were doing before, and what would be cool to kind of bring them into a more modern type of vibe — and blend the two sounds together."

On playing with Marty Friedman:

Jordan: "We were e-mailing back and forth. I played in a band [RAZER] with this guy, Chris Catero, who used to play in Marty's band, and we did and album together, and he just sent it over to Marty. Marty listened to it and said, 'Hey, man. I really dig your guitar playing. Do you think you'd maybe want to play in my band?' We talked probably back and forth for, like, a year and a half before we even were able to put together a U.S. tour, but it was pretty instant chemistry between me and him."

On whether he plans to continue performing with Friedman:

Jordan: "We plan on doing other stuff — it's just scheduling is kind of brutal for me now at this point, because I'm so busy with RATT. He just did some Australian dates, and he did a show in India as well, and I'm sure that if I was free to do those, we were trying to figure out a way that I could go do that, but obviously I'm busy with [RATT]. There will be some [activity] at some point — just whenever we get a chance to do it."

On playing with KING KOBRA in 2016:

Jordan: "The original guitar player actually lives really close to me, and we're kind of friends. Now, we're really good friends, but at the time, we kind of were like acquaintances. He asked me if I wanted to do that tour, so that's kind of how that whole thing came together."

On today's up-and-coming guitarists:

Jordan: "There's a lot of other guitar players that are my age, but I feel like everyone's main focus is kind of on Instagram and YouTube. For me, that's not my focus at all. I want to be out working and playing live, so whatever that is is whatever that is. As far as people my age, I don't really have a lot of friends that are kind of like, 'This guy plays in that band.' It's just not really like that anymore. It's kind of unfortunate, actually."

Ziff began playing with Friedman for the former MEGADETH and CACOPHONY guitarist's tour in support of his acclaimed 2014 release, "Inferno". He joined RATT in 2018.

MIKE CAMPBELL’s THE DIRTY KNOBS - Debut Album Wreckless Abandon Due In March, Video For Title Track Out Now

Wreckless Abandon, the highly anticipated debut album from celebrated guitarist and songwriter Mike Campbell (Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Fleetwood Mac) and his band The Dirty Knobs, is set for release on March 20 via BMG. “Wreckless Abandon,” the lead single and title track from the album, is available today alongside a digital album pre-order, including limited-edition merch bundles. Watch the video, directed by Ryan Daniel Browne:

The Dirty Knobs created Wreckless Abandon without agenda, expectations or deadlines, and without worrying about outcome or hits. They’ve pushed boundaries of taste, imagination, and genres, to create a 13-track album of brutally confident rock and roll.

In additional to Campbell, The Dirty Knobs are Jason Sinay on guitar and vocals (Neil Diamond, Ivan Neville), Lance Morrison on bass (Don Henley), and Matt Laug on drums (Slash, Alanis Morissette).

The album was produced by Campbell and George Drakoulias (The Black Crowes, The Jayhawks), with all songs written by Campbell. It features further contributions from Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and guitarist Chris Stapleton as well as fellow Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers founding-member, Benmont Tench. Additionally, Klaus Voormann, who is best known for doing the art for The Beatles’ Revolver, created the album artwork.

Of the project, Campbell explains, “The Dirty Knobs first got together almost fifteen years ago but Wreckless Abandon is our first album and occasion to tour. Over the years The Knobs became an outlet for me to play some of the other songs I was writing and to keep the creative juices flowing in between working on albums and tours with Tom and The Heartbreakers.”

What followed was several years of intimate, almost incognito, performances in the band’s home-base of Los Angeles and surrounding Southern California cities. After all those years playing together, it became clear The Dirty Knobs should take what they were doing to the next level. After Campbell’s long-time compatriot, friend and bandmate, Tom Petty, passed away in 2017, he knew the only way to heal some of the pain was to throw himself wholeheartedly back into his music.

“Losing Tom was earth-shattering for me. It was a total shock,” Campbell continues. “It had felt like we would be playing together forever. For a while it was hard to imagine playing in my own band again, let alone one where I’m the frontman. Tom was always my beacon. But everything I’ve been doing since Tom passed, including this album with The Dirty Knobs, is in the spirit of honoring what we did together.”

Tracklisting:

"Wreckless Abandon"
"Pistol Packin’ Mama"
"Sugar"
"Southern Boy"
"I Still Love You"
"Irish Girl"
"Fuck That Guy"
"Don’t Knock The Boogie"
"Don’t Wait"

NIRVANA Tops Grunge-Heavy Tally Of Active Rock's Most-Played Songs Of The Past Decade

According to Nielsen Music's Year-End Report, which also included a number of statistics for the recently completed decade, the 10 most-played songs on American active rock radio over the past 10 years were all released during a previous decade — the 1990s.

From 2010 to 2019, NIRVANA accounted for four of the 10-most-played songs at active rock radio, as the quartet of singles from the Seattle band's 1991 album "Nevermind" — that is, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (No. 1), "Come As You Are" (No. 3), "In Bloom" (No. 7) and "Lithium" (No. 10) — tallied more than 500,000 spins combined.

ALICE IN CHAINS's "Man In The Box" — the second single from the band's 1990 full-length debut "Facelift" — was the second-most-played song at active rock radio over the past decade. That topped the totals of the group's Seattle peers PEARL JAM, whose "Even Flow" ranked fifth on the list, and SOUNDGARDEN, whose "Black Hole Sun" came in ninth.

Only three of the format's 10 most-played songs were not recorded by a group from Seattle — STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' "Plush" (No. 4), THE OFFSPRING's "Self Esteem" (No. 6) and METALLICA's "Enter Sandman" (No. 8).

As for 2019, Nielsen stated that QUEEN was America's top rock act of the year (and sixth most popular overall), with a combined 2.7 million "total album-equivalent consumption," a metric combining streaming, album sales and album-equivalent digital single sales. In addition, the band's soundtrack to the 2018 feature film "Bohemian Rhapsody" was the year's top rock album, with 1.16 million of the same metric.

"Bohemian Rhapsody" was the second-best-selling rock album of 2019 in terms of pure sales, behind only TOOL's "Fear Inoculum". Because the majority of those sales were physical copies, it was also rock's top-selling physical title of the year, as well as the fifth-highest overall. In addition, the band's "Greatest Hits 1" and "Platinum Collection" compilations were the year's sixth- and ninth-best-selling physical titles, respectively.

The rock genre was far and away the top format for physical album sales, with 42.2 percent of the year's total sales. (No. 2 was pop, with 11 percent.) Rock also accounted for the highest portion of digital album sales (32.4 percent, more than twice the total of R&B/hip-hop) and digital song sales (22.3 percent to R&B/hip-hop's 20.5 percent). Rock continues to lag behind R&B/hip-hop in streaming, however, as the latter genre accounted for 30.7 percent of all on-demand streams last year — more than twice the total of rock (14.7 percent).

The report also included several charts ranking sales for the recently completed decade. Notably, the three top-selling vinyl albums of the past 10 years were THE BEATLES' "Abbey Road" (558,000), PINK FLOYD's "Dark Side Of The Moon" (376,000) and the rock-themed soundtrack to the Marvel film "Guardians Of The Galaxy" (367,000).

YATRA - Doom Slayers To Release Blood Of The Night Album This Month

Maryland’s monolithic purveyors of doom, Yatra, will release their second album, Blood Of The Night, on January 31 via STB Records. Pre-orders for the album start Friday.

Says the band: “We are extremely proud of the content on Blood Of The Night! We got to play most of these songs for an entire three-week US tour right before going in the studio to record them, which gave us time to really feel out all of the songs which lead to us really finding our grind in all of it. In this album you hear lots of more influences from early death metal, black metal, and traditional heavy metal in general. We are excited for the release!”

The power trio, made up of Dana Helmuth on vocals and guitar, Maria Geisbert on bass and Sean Lafferty on drums have created one of the most vicious and vile doom records that’s come out in years.

Hot on the heels of their 2019 debut, Death Ritual, Yatra completed four US tours in 2019 alone, including Monolith on the Mesa, Electric Funeral, SXSW, New England Doom Fest, Grim Reefer and Descendants of Crom, as well as a three week European tour including performances for massive audiences at Desertfest Belgium, Hostsabbat, Into the Void and Setalite amongst others. Along the way they’ve shared the stage with Sleep, EyeHateGod, Uada, Torche, Om, Conan, Big Business and Nebula to name a few. Just in the last year.

With absolutely no sign of slowing down, the band takes no breathe as they soldier on into 2020 with a new record and plans for another year of relentless touring.

TOOL's 'Fear Inoculum' Was Best-Selling Rock Album Of 2019

According to BuzzAngle Music's year-end report on American music consumption trends, METALLICA sold more albums in the U.S. over the past five years than any other rock group, QUEEN was the country's top-selling rock act of 2019 and TOOL's "Fear Inoculum" was its best-selling rock album of the past 12 months.

Since 2015, METALLICA has sold more than 2 million albums in the U.S., putting the group ahead of such legendary artists as THE BEATLES, Elvis Presley, PINK FLOYD and LED ZEPPELIN. That figure falls well short, however, of both Adele and Taylor Swift, who respectively sold 7.5 million and 5 million albums over the past five years.

In 2019, QUEEN — still riding the success of the 2018 feature film "Bohemian Rhapsody" — sold more albums than any other rock artist, with total sales of nearly 900,000. That put the group well ahead of THE BEATLES (615,000), TOOL (604,000), PINK FLOYD (306,000) and METALLICA (275,000).

QUEEN was also the highest-ranked rock artist "by total consumption," a metric which combines album sales, song sales and on-demand audio streams. In addition, the "Bohemian Rhapsody" soundtrack was the third-best-selling vinyl title of the year, with sales of nearly 80,000.

With sales of 344,000, TOOL's long-awaited "Fear Inoculum" was the best-selling rock album of 2019 and the year's eighth best-selling album overall. (Taylor Swift's "Lover" topped the 2019 sales chart, as it was the only album released last year to sell more than 1 million copies.) QUEEN, meanwhile, was responsible for three of rock's top five sellers of the year — the "Bohemian Rhapsody" soundtrack, 1981's "Greatest Hits" and the 2001 "Platinum Collection" compilation.

Overall, album sales were down 23.2 percent from 2018. Sales of digital albums dropped 26.6 percent; CD sales dropped 26 percent; and cassette sales dropped 11.5 percent. Vinyl sales, however, increased 10.5 percent year-to-year.

QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT and Alice Cooper are among the artists who will perform at the "Fire Fight Australia" bushfire relief concert next month.

The February 16 event at ANZ Stadium in Sydney will raise money for communities across Australia reeling from the devastating bushfires in recent months.

QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT are scheduled to play a sold-out show at the same venue on February 15 and have agreed to donate their stage set to the bushfire concert. Cooper will be in the middle of an Australian tour next month.

Also scheduled to appear are K.D. Lang, Olivia Newton-John and Pete Murray, among others. The event will be hosted by writer, actor and comedian Celeste Barber.

All concert ticket profits will go towards rural and regional fire services, the Red Cross and the RSPCA.

Tickets, which range in price from $70 to $100 AUD, are on sale now.

QUEEN guitarist Brian May recently posted a heartfelt message about the situation in Australia on his Instagram.

May wrote: "Can't stop thinking about the tragic Australian fires. And feel so helpless.

"I have many family members in Australia, all of whom I'm hoping to see in a month's time on our planned Australian tour. The young generation are involved in fighting the fires on Kangaroo Island. Respects.

"Thousands of good people lost their homes. 24 good folks lost their lives. And … HALF A BILLION WILD ANIMALS burned to death in NSW alone? Can it be true? Almost unthinkable. And no end in sight?"

May added: "What can we do? We can pray. And we can put pressure on our leaders to prioritize the health of our planet rather than 'The Economy.'

"It's already too late for these creatures. We can only pray it's not too late for the rest of our world. To all our Australian friends — we send love — and our prayers."

ROD MORGENSTEIN On NEIL PEART: 'I Am Forever Grateful To Have Known This Unique And Special Man'

WINGER and DIXIE DREGS drummer Rod Morgenstein has paid tribute to Neil Peart, who died on Tuesday (January 7) in Santa Monica, California after a three-year battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. The iconic RUSH drummer was 67 years old.

Earlier today (Saturday, January 11), Rod took to his social media to write: "Neil Peart was a Renaissance man. Most of us know him as the iconic drummer and lyricist of RUSH. But beyond his exceptional talents in the world of music, Neil's zest for life, thirst for knowledge, and quest for adventure led him down many paths.

"I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Neil in 1985, when the STEVE MORSE BAND toured with RUSH as their opening act on the band's 'Power Windows' Tour.

"Most touring musicians will attest to the absolute joy and excitement of bringing their music to audiences around the globe. Most of these same musicians will also agree on the physical and emotional toll that endless touring can take on a human being. That said, a typical show day often consists of travel, sound checks, meet and greets, interviews, the performance, followed by more meet and greets. Well, as if this is not enough, a typical show day for Neil Peart on RUSH's ‘85/'86 'Power Windows Tour' would usually begin in the wee hours of morning, as Neil would journey on his bicycle from the previous city (assuming said previous city was within 150 miles of the next gig). Neil would often be on his bike for hours, arriving in time for RUSH's sound check. Directly after sound check, he would have dinner, which was immediately followed by a one-hour conversational French language lesson with a local French-speaking tutor. Upon completing his French lesson, Neil would proceed to a private practice room and warm-up on a small drum kit prior to the band's two-hour concert.

"Neil Peart is the textbook definition of 'Carpe Diem'. He truly seized every moment of life to engage in something of importance, be it music, reading, writing, philosophizing, bicycling, motorcycling, trekking through foreign lands, climbing the highest peaks, and devoting himself to family. He is a truly inspiring human being, whose breath of humanity has touched millions around the world. I am forever grateful to have known this unique and special man.

"RIP Neil."

Rod also shared a photo that was taken in 1994 at the Manhattan Center in New York City at a record-release celebration of "Burning For Buddy, Volume 1", a tribute album put together by ‪Peart‬ and Cathy Rich, using Neil's celebrity to bring the music of ‪Buddy Rich‬ and big-band music to a new audience. He wrote: "A dozen or so drummers each performed with the ‪Buddy Rich‬ Big Band. It was one of the most daunting experiences of my life. Exciting AND terrifying."

Peart joined RUSH in 1974. He was considered one of the best rock drummers of all time, alongside John Bonham of LED ZEPPELIN; Keith Moon of THE WHO; and Ginger Baker of CREAM. Peart was also RUSH's primary lyricist, drawing inspiration from everything from sci-fi to Ayn Rand.

Neil's survivors include his wife Carrie and daughter Olivia.

ARCHON ANGEL Featuring ZAK STEVENS Perform SAVATAGE Classics, Debut New Material On 70000 Tons Of Metal Cruise (Video)

Frontiers Music Srl has announced that Archon Angel - featuring Savatage / Trans-Siberian Orchestra vocalist Zak Stevens - will release their debut album, Fallen, on February 14th. The band performed on this year's 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise, playing new songs and a selection of Savatage classics. Fan-filmed video is available below.

The band's first single and video, the title track to their debut, is out now. Watch the video below. Fans can stream the single and pre-order the album, including merch bundles, here.

Archon Angel was born from a meeting between producer/guitarist Aldo Lonobile (Secret Sphere) and former Savatage, Circle II Circle, and current T.S.O. lead vocalist Zak Stevens during the making of Timo Tolkki's Avalon's Return To Eden album, of which Aldo produced and played guitar and Zak did some guest lead vocals. The two soon started talking to Frontiers about the concept of working on new music together, which was met with great enthusiasm from the label. Aldo submitted to Zak some song ideas which were reminiscent of the classic Savatage sound, the two felt the magic was there, and thus no time was wasted in getting together to craft an absolutely striking metal album. Aldo was also helped in the songwriting department by some of the most outstanding writers and musicians from the Italian rock scene including Simone Mularoni (of DGM and Sweet Oblivion) and Alessandro Del Vecchio (Aldo’s bandmate in Edge of Forever and of course Jorn, Hardline, etc.).

The album itself deals with a central character, the "Archon", who is a modern day angel figure. The idea goes back to the religious system of Gnosticism. The only difference is that we are immersing the Archon's story into modern-day times. The Archon is a medium who brings messages to God (Demiurge) from the people of Earth. The only real concept to the albums is that they simply follow the story and life and times of the modern day "Archon" and his life as he is called upon to protect the people of earth through frightening, turbulent times.

On the first single, vocalist Zak Stevens says, "The title track accompanies the Archon on his journey in transitioning from a successful businessman, who leads a life of excess and egoism, to a superhero who will clean up the city and eventually, save the world from self destruction. In the song, he is reminiscing about his past and the family he left behind, while summoning the power that called him to save the world to "hear him."

About the filming of the video, Zak continues, "After an arduous search for the perfect city and videographer, we settled on Pittsburgh, PA for my scenes. The band was filmed in Genova, Italy, near the famous Porto Antico. In Pittsburgh, we shot atop Mt. Washington, overlooking downtown, much like the Archon would be doing as he pondered his future. The weather didn't cooperate the first day as it was a rainy day. But one of the coolest moments occurred while filming the video....one of the locations was right across from Heinz Field during a Pittsburgh Steelers [football] game. At the apex of the song, the crowd erupted in cheering at the perfect time, and people who were watching us film were caught by surprise. It really contributed to my overall mindset during that portion of the song. I felt like they were cheering for the Archon and it mimicked a true live performance. I can't wait to get out there and perform this song live with Archon Angel."

Archon Angel are currently working on booking some live shows to present the band in the live environment, but their exclusive live premiere will happen at the 2020 edition of the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise.

If Savatage are a favorite of yours, then Archon Angel's Fallen may well be your album of the year in 2020.

GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist RICHARD FORTUS: 'I Hope That We Have New Music Out This Coming Year'

GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Richard Fortus was asked in a new interview with Forbes for an update on fresh music from the band, as well as the possibility of varying up the setlist on this year's tour. He responded: "We love bringing new songs in. We always rehearse stuff up. It's just a matter of everyone sort of feeling comfortable to integrate it into the show. I hope that we have new music out this coming year."

Asked what he is excited about for GN'R in 2020, Fortus said: "I'm excited to go back to South America in March, then we'll be in Europe in the summer. And doing the festivals in Europe is always a lot of fun because you get to see lots of great bands and friends that you don't normally see."

Ever since guitarist Slash, singer Axl Rose and bassist Duff McKagan reunited in 2016 as GUNS N' ROSES, rumors have been circulating that new music from the band — the first to feature the three "classic-lineup" members since 1993 — was in the works.

Last September, Slash told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation" that writing new material for GUNS N' ROSES was the "focus" for the coming months. Slash also talked about whether GUNS N' ROSES fans can expect to see new music from the band in the form of standalone singles or as a full-length record. He explained: "I think at the end of the day, everybody wants to have a full album released. I don't think that's really changed all that much. But there's a different way of putting stuff out initially nowadays more so than… I mean, there's always been the single, but now you sort of look at that preliminary release a little bit differently now. All things considered, it's like the Wild West out there; there is no formula for any of it. [Laughs] I haven't seen any routine kind of thing that works. I mean, you can do any one of a million different things to releasing a record. But at the end of the day, I think that we will ultimately release a full album."

GUNS N' ROSES' "Not In This Lifetime" tour, which began almost four years ago, recently became the No. 3 highest-grossing tour in the history of Billboard Boxscore.

Launched in April 2016, "Not in This Lifetime" features Slash, McKagan and Rose backed by Fortus, drummer Frank Ferrer, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and second keyboardist Melissa Reese.

GUNS N' ROSES will perform at the second Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest, set to take place January 30 through February 1 at American Airlines Arena in Miami. GUNS N' ROSES will headline on January 31.

HALESTORM's LZZY HALE On NEIL PEART: 'Your Legend And Beautiful Soul Will Carry On Within Us'

HALESTORM frontwoman Lzzy Hale has paid tribute to Neil Peart, who died on January 7 in Santa Monica, California after a three-year battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. The iconic RUSH drummer was 67 years old.

Hale took to her social media on Sunday (January 12) to share a photo of Peart and she wrote in an accompanying message: "Without the immense talent, daring musical direction and sheer innovation of this legendary drummer... Todays drum hero's would not exist.

"Lil bro @arejayhale and I went to see RUSH at the Hershey Arena during the Vapor Trails tour. My little brother beside me, air-drumming to every fill and crash... I got to witness him discovering that his dream was possible...if Neil could be up there on an arena stage... then so could he!! Arejay studied Neil and learned every song. It's safe to say that our sound would not be what it is without this specific ingredient in Arejay's stew of influences.

"Our hearts go out to Neil Peart's family and to all the people that he brought into his circle that had the honor to call such a great man their friend.

"Neil, You may have left us physically, but your legend and beautiful soul will carry on within us, living and breathing through music. Rest In Peace and in Power."

ROBIN MCAULEY Reflects On 'Hellish Week' After He Was Diagnosed With Sepsis

Robin McAuley has thanked fans for their support while he was hospitalized last week after he was diagnosed with sepsis.

The 66-year-old MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST frontman became ill shortly before he and his bandmates were scheduled perform on the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise.

Doctors later identified the presence of harmful E. coli bacteria in McAuley's blood that caused the sepsis and they "treated [him] aggressively with targeted antibiotics," according to his wife, Gina.

On Friday (January 10), Gina McAuley revealed that he had gotten the "clear to leave the hospital" and that he would "remain on [intravenous] antibiotics" while he continued to recover at home.

On Monday (January 13), Robin released a statement on social media about what he described as "one of the worst and scariest experiences" he has ever known.

He wrote: "I'm alive and getting stronger by the day! It's been a Hellish week for me and my Wife Gina and the Boys, that took me completely by surprise. Some sneaky bastard calling himself Ecoli Sepsis, snook up behind me and sucker punched me. Almost took me out but not quite.

The incredible quick work of our ER and Hospital staff, I'm forever grateful of how you carried me through one of the worst and scariest experiences I have ever known. A very Special Thank You to all who reached out inquiring about my well being. I apologize to my family and friends that they found out about this through social media firstly. Gina did her best to handle all the calls she could, including my own phone blowing up needing answers?

"I'm moved and in awe of the 'Love and Concern' I have been shown from so many of you this past week. Thank You forever!!!

"My Apologies to Michael Schenker for not showing up for work aboard 70,000 Tons of Metal Cruise. I was packed and ready to sail until the 'Big Disaster' struck!! To my fellow band mates ... I'm so sorry!!!!

"Looking forward to Japan in March, followed by UK shows in April, plus more shows in the rest of Europe. Go to Michael Schenker's website for full details on tour schedule.

"Saturday January 11th saw the official opening night of Raiding the Rock Vault @ Rio/172. It was my plan to be there on opening night and I apologize once again for not showing up for work. The power and caliber of the Rock Vault cast is 2nd to none and is an absolute must see. Saturday through Wednesday @ Rio/172.

"Finally on this BLACK SWAN Monday, another (the 2nd) new Single from the upcoming 'SHAKE THE WORLD' Album! Download BIG DISASTER!! Like it! Play it LOUD!! and remember no disaster is ever big enough for any of us to overcome!! Never was a song title more apt and timely than 'Big Disaster'!!!

"It's been quite the big disaster week for me, but Im still here for the clean up! It's a new day, I'm Blessed and I'll be back real soon.

"'SHAKE THE WORLD' full Album release scheduled for February 14th. Have a great and healthy 'BLACK SWAN' Monday!

BLAZE BAYLEY - New Full Metal Studio Album Due For Release In March 2021

Representatives for Blaze Bayley (ex-Iron Maiden) have released the following message, laying out his future plans...

"Having said goodbye to another year and in thanking you for all the wonderful support, we also take this opportunity to welcome you to 2020. Firstly, we wish you a very happy and healthy new year, and next take a moment to tell you about our plans for this year and a little further.

"Live in Czech - As you know, in April we release Live In Czech which is the concluding piece of the Infinite Entanglement trilogy, featuring the setlist played on the Tour Of The Eagle Spirit, including some of the more epic tracks like 'Eagle Spirit' and 'Together We Can Move the Sun'. Thank you so much to all of you that have pre-ordered Live In Czech so far.

"New full metal studio album - Apart from our Brazil Tour this month, Burr Fest in March and summer festivals, we will concentrate on song-writing for a brand new full metal album planned for release in March 2021. As you can see below, Blaze and (guitarist) Chris (Appleton) have already started and early reports from Blaze are that the results so far are very exciting.

"Tenth Dimension - So, what's happening in the later part of 2020? We're thrilled to say that in September we plan to re-issue the Tenth Dimension album which will be re-packaged with upgraded artwork and we'll also release for the first time a vinyl version. In many ways that album is a prequel to the trilogy and so it's interesting to explore that more deeply.

"To go with that re-ssue we are soon to announce a European Tour for September-October, and a UK Tour for November, both featuring a 'Tenth Dimension' setlist.

"So, that gives you a clear idea of where we're heading with our plans for 2020-2021....

- April 2020: Live In Czech CD and DVD
- September 2020: Tenth Dimension CD re-issue and vinyl LP
- March 2021: new full metal studio album

"Thank you once again for making all this even possible. We'll bring you more news as soon as we can."

After a small break from the scene the boys from Adelaide are back. Alkira have supported these releases through consistent Australian touring, as well as around South-East Asia as the main support act for US thrashers Havok and a headlining tour of New Zealand in 2015. THE PICTUREBOOKS Release "You Can't Let Go" Video Feat. CHRISSIE HYNDE; Band Announces US Tour Supporting VOLBEAT, CLUTCH

The Picturebooks have released a music video for "You Can't Let Go" feat. Chrissie Hynde. Check it out below.

"We played the Harley Davidson festival in St. Tropez with The Pretenders. After our soundcheck Chrissie said she loves the band. At the end of the night she gave us her phone number and said to call in case we ever needed anything. A few months later we jokingly said: 'Wouldn't it be great if Chrissie could sing on our next album?' We sent her a text and within minutes she replied: 'Let's hear the song.' We weren't just really surprised, but we also needed a song specifically for her. Two days later we sent what we had and she immediately agreed to record with us. Much to our surprise she was also totally down to be in the music video, too. After checking our music videos she insisted on riding motorcycles with us as well! Amazing Lady," states The Picturebooks about the song and video.

The Picturebooks have also just announced that they will be supporting Volbeat and Clutch this spring for the Rewind, Replay, Rebound World tour. The band will be on the tour starting April 5 in Las Vegas and wrapping on May 13 in NYC. Before then, fans can catch the band on the road in the US.with British Lion and on the You Can't Let Go European tour.

YES Keyboard Wizard RICK WAKEMAN Begins Recording New Instrumental Progressive Rock Album

Rick Wakeman has commenced recording a new solo LP. According to the keyboard legend, his "first keyboard-orientated instrumental prog rock album for quite a few years" will be issued "sometime in March."

Wakeman recently revealed that he was planning to stage two 2020 North American legs of his "Grumpy Old Rock Star" solo piano tour, with the first run of shows set to take place in April and May. According to Rick, the trek will hit "towns and cities that we didn't manage to get to on the tour last year," with each leg consisting of between 15 and 20 shows.

The 70-year-old musician, who is best known for his work with progressive rock band YES, which spans across five tenures between 1971 and 2004 and for his solo albums released in the 1970s, will headline a BEATLES tribute concert on January 31 at Stowe School in Stowe, U.K. He will also perform at a benefit show for the U.K.'s Royal Marsden Cancer Charity scheduled on March 3 at London's O2 Arena.

Professional musician, keyboard player, songwriter, broadcaster and raconteur, Wakeman's career started as a much-in-demand session player, who performed on recordings by David Bowie, Elton John, Lou Reed, Al Stewart and hundreds more artists. His big break came in 1971 when he joined YES, who went on to become the most successful prog rock band in the world, but Wakeman has also always gone his own way outside the framework of that group.

In the seventies, he achieved chart-topping success with solo albums such as "Journey To The Centre Of The Earth", "The Six Wives Of Henry VIII" and "The Myths And Legends Of King Arthur And The Knights Of The Round Table", which cumulatively sold over 10 million copies in North America alone.

He has written several film scores, amongst them two for director Ken Russell ("Lisztomania" and "Crimes Of Passion") and two "Harry Palmer" movies starring Michael Caine ("Bullet To Beijing" and "Midnight In St. Petersburg"), and in the U.K., has built up an impressive reputation as a witty guest and host on shows like "Grumpy Old Men", "Countdown", "Watchdog" and the comedy cabaret show "Live At Jongleurs". His wickedly irreverent acceptance speech when YES was inducted in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2017 nearly brought the house down.

That same year, he made British chart history when his "Piano Portraits" record became the first solo piano instrumental album to enter the U.K.'s Top 10 on release — a feat he then repeated with last year's "Piano Odyssey". Both records feature tunes that have a special connection with Rick's personal musical journey and his subsequent tours, in which he performs a selection of tracks accompanied by hilarious memories and anecdotes have been instant sellouts in the U.K.

The 2019 North American leg of the "Grumpy Old Rock Star" tour took place in September and October.

JUDAS PRIEST

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has officially announced this year's inductees: THE DOOBIE BROTHERS, DEPECHE MODE, NINE INCH NAILS, The Notorious B.I.G., T. REX and Whitney Houston will all join the class of 2020. They will be inducted on May 2 at a ceremony at Cleveland's Public Hall.

NINE INCH NAILS, whose influential debut album "Pretty Hate Machine" recently turned 30, became eligible for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2014. The band was previously nominated for the class of 2015 and 2016.

JUDAS PRIEST, MOTÖRHEAD, SOUNDGARDEN, THIN LIZZY, Pat Benatar, DAVE MATTHEWS BAND, KRAFTWERK, MC5, RUFUS FEATURING CHAKA KHAN, and Todd Rundgren were all on the ballot this year, but failed to receive enough votes.

The Class of 2020 will not feature the top two acts in this year's Fan Vote — Pat Benatar and DAVE MATTHEWS BAND. The seven previous winners of the Fan Vote were all inducted that year.

Having been eligible for induction since 1999, JUDAS PRIEST was previously on the ballot for the 2018 class of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, but was ultimately left out of the inductee list.

To be eligible for this year's ballot, each nominee's first single or album had to be released in 1994 or earlier.

A voter pool of more than 1,000 artists, historians, journalists and members of the music industry selected the new class. Fans also had a chance to take part in the process by voting at RockHall.com or an interactive kiosk at the museum in Cleveland.

NINE INCH NAILS frontman Trent Reznor told Rolling Stone about the induction: "I'm pretty freaked out. I'm quite in shock. When I look back at how NINE INCH NAILS are received, it always seems like we fall between the cracks. I don't know if it's a defense mechanism, but I just assumed we'd stay in that category, so I'm pleasantly surprised to see us acknowledged. It feels pretty good … I'm allowing myself, for a limited period of time, to feel good about this."

Reznor was critical of the Rock And Roll Of Fame in a 2018 interview with Stereogum. At the time, he said he "honestly couldn't give less of a shit" about the fact that NINE INCH NAILS weren't nominated for induction in 2017, 2018, or 2019. "I saw somebody write something online or comment on Twitter like, 'What could be less rock and roll than the fuckin' Hall Of Fame.' And that is authentically how I feel about it."

But last fall, Reznor changed his mind. In an interview with Forbes, he said that his experience attending the ceremony and giving the speech for THE CURE's Rock Hall induction in March played a big role.

"I get asked to do THE CURE, induct them, and I love THE CURE. And I wanted them to be inducted properly. I thought I could do a good job, went there," he recalled. "So I'm sitting at a table with the RADIOHEAD guys, super nice, and I think we all kind of looked at it like, 'This could be bullshit.' As we're there, it kind of wasn't bullshit. We're watching Bryan Ferry and ROXY MUSIC get inducted, who I love, and then play. And I see a whole arena full of people into it."

"I walk backstage cause THE CURE's gonna come up. I go out and do my thing and I'm not sure if THE CURE is gonna resonate with the audience, the audience I see sitting on the floor there is mostly old industry people," he continued. "Then I walk out to do the induction, it's loud applause for them and it seems real. They come up and I can see that Robert Smith is happy, and the other guys in the band are all kind of freaked out.

"It felt validating. I wanted to see them respected someplace I feel they deserve," Reznor noted. "It ended up being a pretty cool experience and I thought, 'All right, it doesn't feel as bullshit as I kind of snarkily dismissed it as.' I don't have any problem admitting I've changed my opinion about something."

The induction ceremony will air live on HBO and the SiriusXM Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame radio station. Tickets go on sale on February 27.

Original BLACK SABBATH Drummer BILL WARD Pays Tribute To NEIL PEART

Original BLACK SABBATH drummer Bill Ward has paid tribute to Neil Peart, who died on Tuesday (January 7) in Santa Monica, California after a three-year battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. The iconic RUSH drummer was 67 years old.

Earlier today, Ward took to his social media to write: "Red Barchetta has become even more potent today after the news of your passing. Red Barchetta is sad today, and fondly reminding my wife and I of times and places long gone, but still sweet in our hearts.

"What is left is a life's work to praise, converse about, to be in awe of, knowing the world is a better place for your triumphs. What you did in the moments you had, what you created, lends itself to the richness of life, and for those who embraced your passion and love, I believe we are better for it. My wife and I respectfully thank you.

"Our condolences to family members, friends, fellow musicians, and the fans. RIP Neil.

"Love, Bill Ward"

Ward previously talked about Peart during an August 2015 episode of his radio show "Rock 50". He said (hear audio below): "He's an absolute must for the student — if there's young students who wanna say, 'Who shall we listen to? Where can we find guidance?' I would always recommend, 'Go and listen to Neil Peart.' What I like about him is I like the way that he pushes his crescendos with the lyric. It makes the lyric even more than what the lyric is; he's marvelous at that. And that's almost like an orchestrational — or is an orchestrational movement. In addition to that, he's a wonderful jazz player, in my opinion. And I don't know how he feels about that; I just love his playing and his technique."

He continued: "I think he's one of the most incredible drummers I've ever heard in my life. A beautiful man from a beautiful band."

ACE FREHLEY Mourns Death Of 'Good Friend' NEIL PEART: He Was 'A Precise And Innovative Drummer'

Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley has paid tribute to Neil Peart, who died on Tuesday (January 7) in Santa Monica, California after a three-year battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. The iconic RUSH drummer was 67 years old.

On Saturday (January), Ace took to his social media to write: "Neil will be greatly missed as a precise & innovative drummer! He was also a good friend, and when we toured together in the '70s, we spent many an evening laughing and exchanging jokes & road stories till the sun came up! My condolences and prayers go out to his family and Alex & Geddy!"

A day earlier, Frehley's former bandmates Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons took to Twitter to express their condolences. Stanley wrote: "Absolutely Horrible News. Neal Peart [sic] has died after fighting brain cancer for years. His later life was filled with so much family tragedy. So, so sad. I'm just shocked." Simmons offered "prayers and condolences to the Peart family, fans and friends," adding "Neil was a kind soul." Guitarist Tommy Thayer, who joined KISS in February 2003, stepping into the boots of Frehley, echoed Simmons's sentiment, adding that he was "so sad to hear about Neil Peart passing."

During a November 2018 SiriusXM Town Hall, Stanley said that RUSH was the "most exciting" opening band KISS has ever had. "We first had them playing with us in Canada and John Rutsey was still the drummer," he said. "The first album was so… It was HUMBLE PIE, it was [LED] ZEPPELIN. They obviously found their footing in something they wanted to do later on. They were always great."

Drummer Eric Singer, who has been in KISS on and off since 1991, concurred, saying: "I thought RUSH was the best. I saw RUSH open for KISS. I thought they were the coolest opening band. That was the 'Fly By Night' tour— early '75. KISS had 'Hotter Than Hell' out and RUSH had just gotten Neil Peart and they had 'Fly By Night'."

Former STYX Frontman DENNIS DEYOUNG Pays Tribute To NEIL PEART: 'He Was One Helluva Drummer'

Former STYX frontman Dennis DeYoung has paid tribute to Neil Peart, who died on January 7 in Santa Monica, California after a three-year battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. The iconic RUSH drummer was 67 years old.

Earlier today, Dennis took to his social media to write: "Hey kids. It's a sad day indeed what with the passing of Neil Peart. Early on STYX played some shows with RUSH and he was one helluva drummer. In those days my two favorite drummers we played with (other than John of course) were Neil and Tommy Aldrich, who at that time played for BLACK OAK ARKANSAS...hey 'Jim Dandy'.

"When RUSH retired in deference to Neils diminishing skills I thought it showed loyalty to a sick brother. I never realized just how ill he was. My sister in law Dawn who as you may know sang with me for many years also succumbed to brain cancer as well. It's an awful disease. Here's hoping technology will interconnect all the planets great minds and find a cure. They're making progress.

"So long Neil you are still today's Tom Sawyer."

DeYoung will release his new album, "26 East: Volume 1", in the spring via Frontiers Music Srl. The LP will feature the duet "The Good Old Days" with Julian Lennon.

IMONOLITH To Release 'State Of Being' Album In March

IMONOLITH will release its debut album, "State Of Being", on March 27 via Imonolith Music. A new single/video, "Instinct", can be seen below.

Featuring drummer Ryan "RVP" Van Poederooyen (DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT) guitarist Brian "Beav" Wadell (DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT), Jon Howard (THREAT SIGNAL), guitarist Kai Huppunen (METHODS OF MAYHEM, NOISE THERAPY) and Scott Whalen (ECONOLINE CRUSH), IMONOLITH is a collective of heavy hitting players at the top of their game, and "Instinct" serves as a great taster of what can expected on their debut album.

"State Of Being" features 10 hook-laden, riff-heavy tracks, including "Hollow", the debut single that made big waves for IMONOLITH straight out of the gate, racking up 216,000 Spotify streams in 2019. There are also two very special guest performances from Jens Kidman (MESHUGGAH) and Johannes Eckerström (AVATAR).

Having spent much of 2019 writing, arranging, recording and fine-tuning "State Of Being", IMONOLITH worked incredibly hard to achieve its goal — to make an engaging heavy metal album.

Van Poederooyen commented: "We spent a lot of time making this record. We wanted it to be done the way we envisioned it. We didn't cut any corners, from the song writing right up to the album production and artwork. It's a debut album that we're very proud of and excited for the world to hear."

The high production video to "Instinct" is not only a great example of the band's quality aesthetic, but it also serves as a look at IMONOLITH's collective personality. Van Poederooyen continues: "I think we raised the bar with the 'Instinct' video. It's a different kind of video that'll catch you off guard in a few ways. It can also be interpreted differently depending on the viewer. We put a lot of thought into it and hired great visionary people to make it a fun watch."

IMONOLITH will be touring globally for the next two years and has announced its first ever European headline dates, commencing on March 27 in Sheffield, U.K. Wadell commented: "To be able to take a brand-new band overseas and have the opportunity to headline shows is completely mindblowing!! And we plan on making every show count, this is a dream situation for us."
