SABATON Collaborates With APOCALYPTICA On New Version Of 'Angels Calling'

Swedish metallers SABATON have collaborated with the Finnish cello rock band APOCALYPTICA on a new single, a reworked version of the SABATON song "Angels Calling". The track will give their fans a good taste of what to expect on the two bands' joint European tour.

Anyone who attends the upcoming concerts will experience a truly unique live show since SABATON will be reinforced by APOCALYPTICA on stage for several newly arranged songs, including "Angels Calling".

Said SABATON bassist Pär Sundström: "'Angels Calling' was the first song we wrote on the topic of World War 1 for the 'Attero Dominatus' album back in 2006, and together with APOCALYPTICA, we have really given the song a new life. Due to the song's topic, our recent album, the upcoming tour and a great demand from fans, the song is now back on the setlist for the tour.

"The song's arrangement was made in August, when APOCALYPTICA visited our hometown Falun to perform at the Sabaton Open Air festival. It was recorded in Black Lounge studios by Jonas Kjellgren and the APOCALYPTICA parts were later recorded in Finland.

"Richard Erixon, our longtime video producer, captured the best moments from the rehearsals in Falun and edited it into a music video for the song.

"We wanted this tour to offer something that we have never done before, and when I attended an APOCALYPTICA show in Madrid a few years ago I already had a strong vision to perform together, so I explained the idea to APOCALYPTICA and here we are, with the best show we have ever done."

"Angels Calling" is exclusively released on YouTube and will be available on all major platforms on January 17.

Several shows of the upcoming European tour are already sold out and for the premiere in Helsinki this Saturday, there are only a very few tickets left.

DEATH ANGEL Releases Music Video For 'Immortal Behated'

San Francisco Bay Area metal veterans DEATH ANGEL have released the official music video for the song "Immortal Behated". The track is taken from the band's ninth full-length album, "Humanicide", which was released in May via Nuclear Blast Records.

Commented singer Mark Osegueda: "'Immortal Behated' is the second video from our latest release, 'Humanicide'. The song is basically about one's coming to terms and finally having to confront and face one's enemy/monkey on one's back... And sometimes unfortunately for many that enemy/monkey on one's back tends to be one's self..."

Added guitarist Rob Cavestany: "We are stoked to share our new video for 'Immortal Behated' with you all. One of my personal faves from our latest album, 'Humanicide', I'm so proud to see it come to visual life on screen. Our team worked very hard to make it happen, I thank them from the bottom of my heart. Hope to see you from the stage as we perform 'Immortal Behated' live on our tour!"

With "Humanicide", DEATH ANGEL has maintained its throne in the universe of thrash while still managing to remain progressive in their style. They apply a wide variety of different elements to their music, always pushing to add newness to their sound. This time around they've included everything from acoustic bits to guest musicians to even (for the first time) the notes of a piano. All 10 songs flow seamlessly yet each leaves its own distinct impression.

For the fourth album cycle in a row, DEATH ANGEL returned to producer and friend Jason Suecof (DEICIDE, TRIVIUM) of Audiohammer studios for the recording and mixing, along with the mastering of the legendary Ted Jensen (SLIPKNOT, PANTERA) of Sterling Sound, who added the final touches and brought it all to life, with artist Brent Elliott White (LAMB OF GOD, MEGADETH) providing the ominous cover artwork.

STEEL PANTHER Releases NSFW Music Video For 'Gods Of P***y'

"Gods Of Pussy", the new music video from California glam metal jokesters STEEL PANTHER, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's fifth studio album, "Heavy Metal Rules", which was released on September 27. The disc, which is described in a press release as a "heavy metal version of a self-help manual and ultimate party album combined," was once again produced by Jay Ruston, who collaborated with the band on all of its previous recordings, including its latest LP, 2017's "Lower The Bar".

Lyrically, "Gods Of Pussy" is a life manifesto as only vocalist Michael Starr, guitarist Satchel, bassist Lexxi Foxx and drummer Stix Zadinia can unleash upon the world.

STEEL PANTHER explains: "KISS wrote 'God Of Thunder', DEF LEPPARD wrote 'Gods Of War' and we wanted to get in to the 'God' business too. This is an autobiographical description of a day in the life of STEEL PANTHER. So, when you're feeling a little unsexy and you need to get your mojo flowing and turn up the heat, play this song at 10 and you too can become a God of Pussy."

From the opening track "Zebraman" (which is audio taken from the classic film "Heavy Metal Parking Lot") to the emotional album closer "I Ain't Buying What You’re Selling", STEEL PANTHER has created 36 minutes of audio eargasms. Songs like "Let's Get High Tonight", "Fuck Everybody" and "Gods Of Pussy" are destined to become natural additions to the band's setlist. "I'm Not Your Bitch" is an anthem for all acknowledged genders and sexual orientations worldwide.

"Heavy Metal Rules" track listing:

01. Zebraman

02. All I Wanna Do Is Fuck (Myself Tonight)

03. Let's Get High Tonight

04. Always Gonna Be A Ho

05. I'm Not Your Bitch

06. Fuck Everybody

07. Heavy Metal Rules

08. Sneaky Little Bitch

09. Gods Of Pussy

10. I Ain't Buying What You're Selling

Starr recently stated about STEEL PANTHER's new LP: "You are gonna love this new group of songs. We have worked extremely hard and it's paid off. Be prepared to have your nuts fucking rocked off. Ladies, get a towel, 'cause your tits are gonna explode and it's gonna get messy. The future is bright!"

Zadinia said that he was more excited about STEEL PANTHER's new album than he has ever been about any of the group's previous releases. "The riffs are fucking gnarly, dude — gnarly," he said.

STEEL PANTHER specializes in imitating and exaggerating the less flattering aspects of 1980s hair metal, with unrepentantly crude, non-PC sexual content as a favorite lyrical theme.

The group's music has been described as "VAN HALEN meets MÖTLEY CRÜE meets RATT meets 'Wayne's World', complete with operatic shrieks, misogyny, shredding guitar solos and libidinal overdrive."

Eleven years ago, STEEL PANTHER changed its name from METAL SKOOL to its current moniker and shifted the focus of its act from '80s metal covers to originals.

BLACK STONE CHERRY To Enter Studio This Winter

Guitarist Ben Wells of Kentucky rockers BLACK STONE CHERRY has confirmed to MisplacedStraws.com that the band is preparing to begin work on the follow-up to last year's "Family Tree" LP. "We've gotta do a new album, so we'll be in the studio wintertime and then probably get back on the road in spring," he said. "We've hit this album cycle really hard. We've done Europe four times on it, we've been all over the U. S. and everywhere and got to go to Japan and Hawaii for the first time. It's been great, but it's time to slow it down for a minute and crank out another album."

Asked if the members of BLACK STONE CHERRY write on the road or wait until they get home to get creative, Wells said: "It's a combo of both. We do write on the road. We were writing a couple of nights ago up here in the front lounge of the bus. But you never wanna force it; that's the worst. So if we hit a creative stride or get inspired, then yeah, we write on the road. And then we also can write on the spot as well."

According to Wells, all four members of BLACK STONE CHERRY are involved in the songwriting process. "It's a free-for-all," he said. "We do everything equally, so if somebody's got a melody or a riff or an idea, we just take it. Nobody really says, 'Well, this is my job to do this and this.' We're all in it together."

Earlier this month, BLACK STONE CHERRY canceled its previously announced Australian tour with HALESTORM due to a "family emergency." The trek was scheduled to kick off on December 6 in Sydney and conclude on December 10 in Melbourne.

BLACK STONE CHERRY's second tribute to its blues heroes, "Black To Blues Volume 2", was released on November 1 via Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group.

The first installment of the series, "Black To Blues", was released in October 2017 and crashed straight into No. 1 in the Billboard Blues chart and reached the top 30 U.K. album chart with a wave of praise from both the press and fans.

CHILDREN OF BODOM - Pro-Shot Video Of "In Your Face" Live At Bloodstock 2019 Posted

Pro-shot video of Children Of Bodom performing "In Your Face" at Bloodstock 2019 on August 9th at Catton Hall Park in Walton upon Trent, England can be viewed below.

Children Of Bodom will be playing their final show with the current lineup this coming December. "A Chapter Called Children Of Bodom" will take place at the Black Box in Helsinki, Finland at Ice Hall on December 15th. Below is a statement from the band:

"It is with heavy hearts that we announce that 2019 will be the last for Children Of Bodom with this lineup.

After almost 25 years with Bodom, thousands of shows & 10 albums it is time for Henkka (T. Blacksmith - bass), Janne (Wirman - keyboards) and Jaska (Raatikainen - drums) to step back and change direction within their lives. All three will miss the fans and supporters in every city in every country the band ever played.

The last show of this lineup will be on December 15th at Helsinki Ice Hall. Tickets still remain for some of the Finnish shows in December.

Alexi (Laiho - vocals, lead guitar) and Daniel (Freyberg - rhythm guitar) will have further announcements about their plans to keep creating new music in the future.

Thanks again for everything - Children Of Bodom"

Since this announcement, it has come to light that the Children Of Bodom name belongs to AA & Sewira Consulting Oy, the company owned by Raatikainen, Seppälä and Wirman. On June 28th, the trio filed an application with the National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland, and their application was subsequently granted for a five-year period starting on October 1st. This means that although Laiho intends to continue to move forward, the new outfit can't use the Children Of Bodom moniker without the permission of Wirman, Raatikainen and Seppälä.

Speaking with Finland's Soundi and Helsingin Sanomat, Laiho revealed things within the band have been tense for quite some time, and that Wirman, Raatikainen and Seppälä made the decision to leave last year. Things were pushed towards the final decision to call it quits in December during the band's recent Russian tour.

Laiho: "We fought a lot within the band, and I can honestly admit that those fights were mainly my fault. They always started with some misunderstanding. I have no bad feelings towards any of them."

On moving forward, Laiho says the band name may need to be altered slightly: "Maybe it could be just Bodom or the name of one of our songs, but it must be a name that suggests that it's the same band."

Laiho and Freyberg have, according to Helsingin Sanomat, already found a new bassist and a new drummer. If all goes as planned they will start performing live next spring.

Laiho: "Of course, there's a bit of sadness since we've been a band for a really long time. We've had more good times than bad times. On the other hand, I also feel relieved. I'm pretty fucking excited that I get to play with the new guys. The thrill of playing with a new line-up seems to quell the sadness."

Upcoming Children Of Bodom shows:

December
5 - Seinäjoki, Finland - Rytmikorjaamo
6 - Oulu, Finland - Teatria
7 - Tornio, Finalnd - Teatria
10 - Helsinki, Finland - Tavastia - SOLD OUT
11 - Tampere, Finland - Pakkahuone
12 - Turku, Finland - Logomo
13 - Jyväskylä, Finland - Lutakko - SOLD OUT
14 - Jyväskylä, Finland - Lutakko - SOLD OUT

BEHEMOTH Frontman's ME AND THAT MAN Project Signs With NAPALM RECORDS

Blackened blues project ME AND THAT MAN — founded in 2013 by BEHEMOTH frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski — has signed a worldwide contract (excluding Poland) with Napalm Records.

ME AND THAT MAN released its debut album, "Songs Of Love And Death", in 2017 — introducing the world to its unique brand of folk and blues, mixed with hints of outlaw country. The atmospherically dark album provides a strong contrast to BEHEMOTH with its catchy melodies and relaxed rhythms, and gives Nergal space to express his creativity in a different setting. Since its release, the album's lead single, "My Church Is Black", has racked up over 2.5 million streams on Spotify.

ME AND THAT MAN has big plans in store in the coming months.

Commented Nergal: "It's a pleasure to be working with a brand new team of people on a project which in many ways is brand new to me. We have some big surprises for you in the coming months, so keep 'em peeled. The record has been a lot of hard work; some blood, some tears, but just wait and see, it was totally worth it!"

Sebastian Münch, A&R Napalm Records, stated about the signing: "As I've been a Johnny Cash fan for many years, 'Songs Of Love And Death' turned out to be like a memorial to the country music god himself! Nergal's creative and musical brilliance redefined an entire genre, and the album's dark and sinister vibes were most certainly noticed in distant Nashville. Welcome, ME AND THAT MAN, to the Napalm family!"

Darski has been a fixture in the music industry for years. As the frontman of black/death metal band BEHEMOTH, Darski has been known to preach unholy sermons, praise Satan and sing about explicit blasphemy. Naturally, the next step was to channel those themes into another genre commonly dubbed as the Devil's music — blues. ME AND THAT MAN is exactly that — Nergal's solo project will surprise and bewitch the listener. The visionary creative founded the band in an effort to showcase his true ability to adapt to any genre. Released in 2017, ME AND THE MAN's debut album delivered thirteen stunning pieces full of multifaceted riffs and honest lyrics. In summer 2018, British/Polish rock musician John Porter left ME AND THAT MAN after the band completed a number of gigs in support of "Songs Of Love And Death".

HOUSE OF SHAKIRA Premier "One Circumstance" Music Video

Frontiers Music Srl will release House Of Shakira's new album, Radiocarbon, on December 6. Watch a video for the song "One Circumstance" below, and pre-order the album here.

Radiocarbon is House Of Shakira's ninth original studio album and shows the band gaining even more maturity and depth in the songwriting department and truly operating at the top of their game.

Singer Andreas Novak says, "We are very proud to release this particular record with Frontiers. We are certainly in good company, but what counts most is that "Radiocarbon" is truly our strongest and most substantial record ever. Also, thanks to the mighty Pontus Norgren (Hammerfall) for the outstanding production job he did on this record. Hold onto your hats!"

Originally formed in Stockholm, Sweden around 1991, House Of Shakira released their debut album, Lint in 1997. They have a unique sound that stands out amongst other bands in their genre as they craft melodic hard rock of the highest quality with vocals that soar, melodies that rise, and guitars that bring it all together. All these components make for a sensational listening experience. Because of the diversity of the lyrics and the music, House Of Shakira does not fall under your typical hard rock classification and appeals to a musically inclined audience and fan community. The band's motto is "try every idea with an open mind", meaning that every member of the band contributes their personal musical ideas: writing the lyrics, rhythm patterns, chord changes, and crafting special melodies.

The band is currently plotting European tour dates for 2020, so stay tuned for more news on that soon.

Tracklisting:

"Herd Instinct"
"One Circumstance"
"Not Alone"
"Radiocarbon"
"A Tyrant´s Tale"
"Delusion"
"Save Yourself"
"Sweet Revenge"
"Scavenger Lizard"

PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS: Video Of Entire Fargo, North Dakota Concert

Fan-filmed video footage of PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS's entire November 17 concert at the Fargodome in Fargo, North Dakota as the support act for SLAYER can be seen below (courtesy of YouTube user "DOOMtube").

This past summer, Philip Anselmo spoke to Revolver about his decision to play a number of PANTERA songs during the current tour with his solo band, PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS.

"We were about a month out from touring [the second ILLEGALS album, 'Choosing Mental Illness As A Virtue'] when Vince Paul [Abbott, PANTERA drummer] passed away and that was horrific and so unexpected," he said. "It was something that stopped me dead in my tracks. I was in my kitchen and I just dropped to the floor and just had to breathe for a little while. That's when the big plea for us to do more PANTERA songs became irresistible. The tribute had to be then. It had to be right. And I never thought it would be THE ILLEGALS. Clearly the mission for us was to be a sweaty hole-in-the wall death-metal band. I've got to say huge props to them for learning the PANTERA material. They didn't even flinch, man, and just went for it.

"The vibe from most of the shows have been so fucking great, man," he continued. "And what really tickles me is seeing the young bloods out in the audience, freaking out on the PANTERA stuff. And you know it's their parents who got them into PANTERA."

On the topic of whether his PANTERA tribute will continue into the future, or if it's something he is doing right now, Anselmo said: "I'd like it to be just for now. For me, PANTERA was PANTERA and there's no substitute. So playing those songs, I didn't mind doing it for a one-off thing here and there with a group of guys — we used to do it in 'Metal Masters', [with] Kerry King and the ANTHRAX guys. But I wasn't going to learn a set of PANTERA with another band. I didn't feel entitled to do that. It's not like I feel entitled now. I feel now it's necessary."

Asked if Vinnie's death made him think any differently about the PANTERA days and the aftermath, Anselmo said: "The only thing I can say is, if I could go visit a 20-something-year-old version of myself, I would say, 'Put the fucking bottle down, son.' Treat your body like an elite athlete and make sure that there is a very clear communication between myself and the rest of my band.

"It's a frustrating thing because my lower back injury was so fucking bad, it was torture from the second my eyes opened until I fell asleep," he said. "I made every rookie mistake in the book. I ended up sleepwalking through the fucking day because I didn't want to exist. It felt like my skeleton had betrayed me. It was a common lower injury, a blown-out disc. It was just at the wrong time — [1994's] 'Far Beyond Driven' was just getting wrapped up. And once I got that phone call, 'Hey, your record's No. 1,' I knew what was going to happen — world tour after tour after tour. That was the big dream anyway. And I couldn't do it, man. Neurosurgery was still barbaric at that time. I had to wait until 2006 to have any surgery at all and by then three discs had blown. I had the second surgery in 2018. I'm doing tons better now. You're thrust into a circumstance and I wouldn't wish that on anybody, man."

Up until his death in June 2018, Vinnie remained on non-speaking terms with Anselmo, whom the drummer indirectly blamed for the death of "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, who was his brother.

Vinnie Paul and Dimebag co-founded PANTERA. When PANTERA broke up in 2003, they formed DAMAGEPLAN. On December 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by a troubled schizophrenic who believed that the members of PANTERA were stealing his thoughts.

Vinnie Paul died of dilated cardiomyopathy, an enlarged heart, as well as severe coronary artery disease. His death was the result of chronic weakening of the heart muscle — basically meaning his heart couldn't pump blood as well as a healthy heart.

Vinnie was buried on June 30, 2018 next to his brother and their mother, Carolyn, at Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, Texas.

ANETTE OLZON Would 'Never' Reunite With NIGHTWISH: 'They Treated Me So Badly'

A&P Reacts recently conducted an interview with former NIGHTWISH and current THE DARK ELEMENT frontwoman Anette Olzon. You can watch the entire chat below. A few excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On what inspired the title for THE DARK ELEMENT's second studio album, "Songs The Night Sings":

Anette: "This is always the record company [Frontiers] that chooses these things. We don't have so much to say. I don't know how much Jani [Liimatainen, guitar] had a say, but I think when they decided that this song should be a single because we always have a say, but they are the ones responsible in the end deciding singles. So, when they decided this, I guess it was a good name for the album. It's quite perfect for it. It is songs the night sings. It [has] a bit darker songs, but still very melodic, so it suits it fine."

On whether "Songs The Night Sings" moves THE DARK ELEMENT's sound "forward into the future":

Anette: "I told Jani already that the first album that I liked a bit more heavier guitars, for instance, and that I thought we could have a little bit more up-tempo [songs]. Then I guess Jani also felt we should do it bigger and bolder and more bombastic in a way. [Laughs] So we just made these songs and I think he was not so afraid of exploring more different things this time. The first album is always hard how people respond. We got a good response, so I think it was a bit easier to just be a bit bolder this time."

On how the creative process in THE DARK ELEMENT works:

Anette: "This is how it goes: Jani is the creator, so he always makes the songs, then he sends me the demos and the lyrics. This album, actually, he asked me to send some lyrics that I felt like writing and I did, and he picked some of the lyrics for 'Pills On A Pillow', for instance. I had been in a little more creative process this time. Otherwise, he sends me the demos and I start to listen to them a little bit, then when I enter the studio, I change the keys so it fits my voice because he sings them. Normally, I raise them quite a lot in the studio. Then I send my files and my choirs, the harmonies, I do as I want to and all those ad-libs and things. Then, he takes over the process and then he sends it to the mixing guy when he's done with all the files and adding some guitars in the end and stuff like that. So he's the creative mind, of course, but, I do have some say when it comes to the vocals and the harmonies, that's what I do."

On whether it was easier for her to make "Songs The Night Sings" versus THE DARK ELEMENT's 2017 self-titled debut:

Anette: "Yeah, for sure it was. I mean, the first album I didn't change the keys so much as I did now and he was a bit more saying how he wanted it. Now, he knows that I know what [to] do, so he trusts me if I say 'I changed this' or 'I did this,' he's, like, 'Okay, go for it.' We respect each other and we know each other. He knows my voice now and he had some concerns about some songs before I recorded them, like, 'Hmmm…can she do this? Is this working with her voice?' But, actually, then he got them and he was, like, 'Yeah, it worked!' It was very easy this time, very easy for both of us, I believe."

On whether she would ever reunite with her former NIGHTWISH bandmates onstage:

Anette: "No. Never. Because I can say it like this: There are things they have to do before that will ever happen, and they have still not yet done that. They treated me so badly that, I'm really sorry, but how it is and how it's been, I cannot see that happening ever."

Olzon originally joined NIGHTWISH in 2007 and recorded two studio albums with the band before being dismissed in 2012 in the middle of the group's North American tour. She was replaced by former AFTER FOREVER singer Floor Jansen. Olzon later claimed that an argument arose between her and NIGHTWISH when she asked for an Australian tour to be postponed during her pregnancy. Mainman Tuomas Holopainen suggested that Jansen should front the band on a temporary basis, but Olzon said no.

Anette explained in a 2014 interview: "I would have been too pregnant to go to Australia, so I wanted to push the dates back, but Tuomas didn't want that. Discussions about a substitute came up, and at first, I was, like, 'Yeah, well, okay.' But when they mentioned Floor, it was an automatic 'no' from me. I didn't think it was a good idea, because I knew what would happen — I knew the fans would love Floor, because she's a metal singer and I'm a pop singer, and I wanted to keep my job."

A year after NIGHTWISH fired Olzon, the band released a statement denying that she was dismissed because of pregnancy or illness. "We discovered her personality didn't fit this work community, and was even detrimental to it," the group said. NIGHTWISH went on to say that Anette was initially receptive to the idea of hiring a temporary replacement if she couldn't "manage everything," but that she later "took back her decision, and the difficulties really started. Fear of losing money and position seemed obvious." The band also insisted that "Anette and her company" were "paid a fifth of everything that was done during her time" with NIGHTWISH.

"Songs The Night Sings" was released November 8 via Frontiers Music Srl. The follow-up to 2017's "The Dark Element" was mixed by Jacob Hansen, who has previously worked with VOLBEAT and AMARANTHE, among others.

Joining Olzon and Liimatainen in THE DARK ELEMENT's current recording lineup are Jonas Kuhlberg on bass and Rolf Pilve on drums.

CHILDREN OF BODOM's ALEXI LAIHO Could Be Forced To Use Different Band Name For New Lineup

Alexi Laiho could be forced to abandon the name CHILDREN OF BODOM for his next project because of an apparent dispute with the three musicians who recently announced they were leaving the band.

Earlier this month, drummer Jaska Raatikainen, bassist Henri "Henkka T. Blacksmith" Seppälä and keyboardist Janne Wirman issued a statement saying that they would play their final show with CHILDREN OF BODOM in December.

"After almost 25 years with BODOM, thousands of shows and 10 albums, it is time for Henkka, Janne and Jaska to step back and change direction within their lives," the group said.

However, according to Finnish music magazine Soundi, it has since been revealed that the rights to the CHILDREN OF BODOM name are held by AA & Sewira Consulting Oy, the company owned by Raatikainen, Seppälä and Wirman. On June 28, the trio filed an application with the National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland, and their application was subsequently granted for a five-year period starting on October 1. As a result, Laiho, who is CHILDREN OF BODOM's singer, guitarist and main songwriter, isn't authorized to use the band's name without permission from Wirman, Raatikainen and Seppälä.

Laiho admitted to Helsingin Sanomat that there have been tensions in the BODOM camp for quite some time.

"The original decision [to end the band in its current form] came when the other guys said they just couldn't do it anymore," he said. "There were family reasons for it. I respect their decision. I myself have a wife and stepdaughter in Australia, and my wife understands my lifestyle. I'm pretty much gone [most of the time], but always I come back and I give them my all. Nothing is more important to me."

According to Laiho, things came to a head when CHILDREN OF BODOM performed in Russia last month.

"We fought a lot within the band, and I can honestly admit that those fights were mainly my fault," he said. "They always started with some misunderstanding."

Relations within the band apparently got so bad during the Russian tour that it looked as if CHILDREN OF BODOM would break up right there and then. But cooler heads prevailed, and the group decided that the upcoming shows in Finland would be their last with the current formation.

Laiho admitted to Soundi that "it might not be a good idea" legally to continue with the CHILDREN OF BODOM name. "It may be that the name of our new lineup needs to be tweaked a bit in some direction. Or maybe it could be just BODOM or the name of one of our songs. But it must be a name that suggests that it is the same [group]."

A possible loss of the CHILDREN OF BODOM name has not prevented Laiho from putting together a new lineup. He and guitarist Daniel Freyberg have already chosen a new drummer and bassist, whom Laiho described to Soundi as "incredibly talented young guys who look very good on stage." He also said that the new band will likely start gigging next spring. "The new lineup will be a fresher version of the current one," he told Helsingin Sanomat.

For his part, Wirman told Soundi that he would not have anything further to say about BODOM's current status beyond what he and his bandmates already said in their joint statement.

"We will not comment further on this subject at this time," he said. "More information will come once the gigs in Finland have been played."

Laiho went on to say that he is confident CHILDREN OF BODOM's upcoming shows in Finland will come off without any unnecessary drama. "You have to be a professional," he said. "You can't show negative personal feelings on stage. As before, we will do our best to have fun and enjoy playing some good music."

Alexi also said that he has "quite mixed feelings" about the end of CHILDREN OF BODOM's current lineup. "Of course, there is a bit of sadness, since we've been a band for a really long time. We have had more good times than bad times. On the other hand, I also feel relieved. I'm pretty fucking excited that I get to play with the new guys. The thrill of playing with a new lineup seems to quell the sadness."

CHILDREN OF BODOM's latest album, "Hexed", came out in March via Nuclear Blast Records.

Ex-AMON AMARTH Drummer FREDRIK ANDERSSON Says There Was 'Really Strong Friction' Between Him And The Rest Of The Band

Ex-AMON AMARTH drummer Fredrik Andersson says that his playing has "evolved more" in the years after he left the band than during his tenure with the group.

Andersson was fired from AMON AMARTH in March 2015, just as the band was preparing to enter the studio to begin work on its latest album, 2016's "Jomsviking". AMON AMARTH opted to enlist a session drummer, Tobias Gustafsson (VOMITORY, CUT UP), during the recording sessions for the disc, but hired Jocke Wallgren to join them on the road. Wallgren was named a permanent member of AMON AMARTH in September 2016.

Asked in a new interview with Greece's The Gallery about the circumstances that led to his departure from AMON AMARTH, Fredrik said: "There had been some friction between me and the other members for quite some time. It seemed to me like they were ganging up on me, even if they never really truly let me in to be 'one of them,' not even in the early years. But at least back then we could hang out together and we called each other friends. In later years, and I can only guess, but perhaps they started to feel that since we were splitting all money equally, either I should be more grateful and do what they told me to or they simply started to think it was wrong that I should get equally paid. I don't know. But in the end, whatever I did or say — it was wrong."

He continued: "I specifically remember one of the last times I played in Greece. It was the last day of the tour, and we were flying home the next day. While I was warming up for the show, Olli [Olavi Mikkonen, guitar] came up to me and said my snare hits were not consistent enough. He said I played too soft during soundcheck and too loud during the show, or more specifically, he said the individual hits were either low or loud. Since I know for a fact this is bullshit, I got really pissed off. I might not be the most technical drummer, but if something, at least I'm consistent. I thought it was really untactical to come with these complaints five minutes before show, and it ruined the whole show for me. And there were lots of other occasions like this where they would just say I'm wrong about something, that my opinion were wrong or simply silly. It got very frustrating, and it built up to really strong friction."

Asked how he sees him evolving from album to album during his time with AMON AMARTH, Fredrik said: "Sadly, I feel that I have actually evolved more in the years after AMON AMARTH than all the years I did in the band. Well, I think I still evolved, especially since I at least practiced my instrument. But I got also very locked and comfortable. And although we spent so much time in the practice room actually writing songs, I never really got any time to practice and evolve my playing. A typical songwriting session in the rehearsal room would look like: meet up at 9 and gear up, guitar players jamming some riff trying to find a note or something. At this time, my job was to just sit around, silently and without playing, until they needed to try something out on drums when they told me to play. We did this for eight hours a day, five days a week. So I basically spent the whole day waiting by the drum kit, not being allowed to play. After a full day in the rehearsal room, I didn't exactly feel like staying another couple of hours alone to practice."

In a 2016 interview with Brazil's "Wikimetal" podcast, Mikkonen stated about AMON AMARTH's split with Andersson: "I don't really wanna go into details regarding Fredrik, but, basically, we just separated. It's kind of like a marriage that doesn't work, and you get divorced. And that's kind of what happened to our band."

AMON AMARTH bassist Ted Lundström described Wallgren as "a super-solid drummer" who is "very professional" and "very on-the-spot all the time." He added: "It is much easier to play if you have a drummer who is [tight]. It makes our lives easier."

COREY TAYLOR Says He Has Written 26 Songs For 'Rock-Meets-So-Many-Different-Things' Solo Album

SLIPKNOT vocalist Corey Taylor recently spoke with Terry "Beez" Bezer of WhatCulture Music. The full conversation can be seen below. A few excerpts follow (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On his involvement with the digital television series "The Boys":

Corey: "Ten years ago-ish, I told my management that they need to look up who holds the rights to 'The Boys' — maybe not even television, but movie-wise, because it's one of my favorite [comics]. Obviously, it was locked up with somebody. That was the last time I really heard about it. Then, fast forward about a year ago-ish, they were putting it together and actually reaching out to us to see if there was music that we could give over. It all just kind of lined up perfectly. They sent me some early episodes, and I'm gagging — I'm losing my mind. I was like, 'Give them whatever they want.' [The SLIPKNOT song] 'Solway Firth', it just worked — it was perfect. The rest is history."

On SLIPKNOT's latest album, "We Are Not Your Kind":

Corey: "There's been hints of it over the years — that kind of unconventional thinking and the approach. We really kind of hinted at it on 'Vol. 3', and this album, to me, feels like a great mixture of 'Vol. 3' and 'Iowa' — that darkness, but with that creative, artistic vibe. It felt like that's the way we were heading, and then for whatever reason — the turmoil in the band or whatever — it kind of got off the rails a little bit, and things got a little more conventional. Coming back to this felt great. We were like, 'The shackles were off. Let's make an album for us again and see what happens.' Obviously, '.5' was us mending and just letting ourselves mourn and feel, 'Okay, do we want to do this?' Once we answered that question, it became, 'Okay, let's see where we're going to go now.' Because we did that — and because we went completely unconventional — it really challenged the way people listen to us again. It's made people go back and listen to the old stuff and go, 'Dude, did I miss something here? How does this make sense?' That's what's been really great about it, and it's got me excited about the whole thing again."

On the SLIPKNOT song "Spiders":

Corey: "When Clown played me the music for 'Spiders', because that was something that he and V-Man and Jim [Root] had kind of put together with Jay [Weinberg], it was so different that it got me excited. It was, like, 'Okay, I can take this song in four or five different directions. Where do I want to go with it?' Honestly, it made sense to go a little more minimal and a little stark, and really play with the melody a little more. I'd tried a couple of different things that didn't feel as creatively accurate, and once I kind of stopped thinking about it and just went, 'You know what? What if I started from scratch and find what works for me?, then it was awesome. That really was kind of what this album was about — trial and error [and] finding what worked. 'Let's try six or seven ideas. Maybe it's the first idea that we had; maybe it's the fourth or fifth; but either way, just really going with the strongest hook, the strongest melody line. It wasn't necessarily about the words; it was about what feels the best."

On potential future Knotfests:

Corey: "Things are being bandied about, and respectfully. This is kind of what I've said since day one — the fact that we weren't going to come in and try to flood these territories who had helped us get to where we are and be disrespectful. We're trying to do it in a cool way, a smart way and a respectful way. That's the plan. Obviously, things may fall apart, but for now, we are working that out as we speak."

On his recent solo live performances and his in-the-works solo album:

Corey: "The great thing about being a fan is you never forget the passion you have for music. You never forget the songs that you love. For me, there's no such thing as a guilty pleasure, so I'm going to listen [to] and play whatever I want. It was great. It's been cool to kind of start building the momentum for a potential solo run... It's definitely going to be rock-based, but it's going to be rock meets so many different things. There will be harder-edged stuff, but there also will be big, expansive, huge, world-changing guitar songs that you're going to want to sing along to. That's just who I am, and I'm not going to fight who I am. I've got 26 songs written, and I'm not done yet."

SLIPKNOT is continuing to tour in support of "We Are Not Your Kind", which was released in August via Roadrunner.

GEOFF TATE Says A QUEENSRŸCHE Reunion 'Makes Sense' And 'Would Be An Interesting Thing To Do'

Geoff Tate says that a reunion of QUEENSRŸCHE's classic lineup is "something that makes sense."

In April 2014, Tate and QUEENSRŸCHE announced that a settlement had been reached after a nearly two-year legal battle where the singer sued over the rights to the QUEENSRŸCHE name after being fired in 2012. Original QUEENSRŸCHE members Michael Wilton (guitar), Scott Rockenfield (drums) and Eddie Jackson (bass) responded with a countersuit. The settlement included an agreement that Wilton, Rockenfield and Jackson would continue as QUEENSRŸCHE, while Tate would have the sole right to perform the albums "Operation: Mindcrime" and "Operation: Mindcrime II" in their entirety live.

Speaking to The Rock Vault in a recent interview, Tate was asked if there are plans for a QUEENSRŸCHE reunion. He responded (hear audio below): "Uhhhhmmm… Well, not that I can say at this moment. I think that would be something that makes sense, and I think it would be an interesting thing to do, if everybody could get in the same room and actually talk to each other."

Geoff's latest comments appear to contradict what he told Greece's "TV War" back in March. At that time, he dismissed the possibility of a QUEENSRŸCHE reunion, saying he had "no interest in that. No. Not at all. [I have] absolutely no reason to," he said. "I don't need the money. That'd be the only reason to do it. Maybe if they paid me, like, 10 million dollars or something like that. [Laughs]"

He continued: "It was a good thing for a long time, and then it went really bad. And I just don't want that kind of negativity in my life. My life is so good, and I have such great friends and family. I travel the world and sing songs for a living. I mean, it's lovely. I have wonderful, positive people in my life, and to go back and be in that negative land again… aargh, I just couldn't do it. It's not worth it."

Tate previously described his time in QUEENSRŸCHE as "a strange, strange sort of relationship." He told The Metal Gods Meltdown: "We weren't really friends, you know — we were business associates. We had a wonderful entity that we shared called QUEENSRŸCHE, but it wasn't an equal sort of partnership as far as involvement goes. You know, so there wasn't a real camaraderie amongst everybody in the band… From my perspective and my involvement, it wasn't an emotional sort of brotherhood kind of thing that some people might think existed. That wasn't my reality with them."

Tate's replacement, Todd La Torre, told Metal Wani that QUEENSRŸCHE is "sounding better than it did for over 10 years" now that he is fronting the band. He added: "The fans have certainly voiced that opinion. That's my opinion, and that's a lot of opinions we hear every night. And the energy of the other members of the band is way healthier, way happier with [Geoff] gone and me in the band. And that's just the facts. There's no stifled creativity, and there's no kind of leader and followers, if you will, in the band. We all talk and try to make decisions the same, and it's very democratic. I'm never gonna tell Michael Wilton that his guitar riff is too heavy, for example, and that had happened in the past. The band is way happier, and I think that it's evident when you watch a live show — not [a clip on] YouTube, but really go to a show and feel what's happening and see what's happening. These guys are happy again and they feel like it's a rebirth of the band and that those dark clouds are well behind them."

QUEENSRŸCHE has released three albums thus far with the ex-CRIMSON GLORY frontman — 2013's "Queensrÿche", 2015's "Condition Hüman" and 2019's "The Verdict".

BERZERKER LEGION Detail New Album, Obliterate The Weak

Berzerker Legion have announced the details of their first album, Obliterate The Weak, which will be released January 31, 2020.

Vocalist Jonny Pettersson explains the lyrical theme of Obliterate The Weak: "The lyrical concept is based around how religion is poisoning the world, and even after so many years of evolution, development, we still have huge parts of the world that believes in a fairytale, people who believe that this fairytale is worth going to war over, worth killing for and uses as an excuse for truly malevolent acts. These are weak minded sheep that will do anything in the name of whatever god they believe in. Obliterate The Weak draws from the will to eradicate all forms of religion and tells a story of atrocities made in the name of a fiction."

Obliterate The Weak artwork (by Adi Dechristianize) and tracklisting:

"Rise Of The Berzerkers"
"A World In Despair"
"I Am The Legion"
"Of Blood And Ash"
"Obliterate The Weak"
"The Falling Dawn"
"The King Of All Masters"
"Upon The Throne Of Mortem"
"A Lurking Evil"
"In The Name Of The Father"
"Death Euphoria" (CD exclusive bonus track)

Berzerker Legion was founded in 2016 by guitarists Tomas Elofsson (Hypocrisy) and Alwin Zuur (Asphyx) with a vision to create death metal of the most belligerent quality, they recruited a lineup of solid well-known musicians consisting of James Stewart (Vader) on drums, Jonny Pettersson (Wombbath) on vocals and Fredrik Isaksson (Dark Funeral) on bass to complete the Legion.

"Of Blood And Ash" and "I Am The Legion" are both streaming now.

"This was the first lyrical video we uploaded on YouTube. Starting off with a massive pounding brutal old school riff, short break, and back again to that pounding groove with vocals. This song has a lot of old Gothenburg melody style. A harmonic break int the middle with the refrain makes this a very strong diverse song."

"In this song we slow down just a little bit. Catchy massive easy riffing with a lot of double bass drum, slow harmonic melodies and now and then we added some symphonies in this song. This was our second video we shared on the worldwide web."

As with the first two well-received albums, REVOLUTION SAINTS are bringing back the classic melodic rock style that thrilled and delighted legions of fans in the '80s and '90s and still does today. Inspiring, uplifting vocals, soaring melodies, and musicianship to die for is what you get in spades here.

Superbly handling drums and lead vocals is the one and only Castronovo. Already renowned for his drum talents and backing vocals in JOURNEY, BAD ENGLISH, and more, Deen's excellent vocal talents are once again receiving a well-deserved spotlight on this release. On bass, and co-lead vocals on a few tracks, Blades is well known for his melodic, yet hard-rocking approach to songwriting and playing via multiple classic albums by his main band NIGHT RANGER, as well as with the DAMN YANKEES and the SHAW/BLADES releases. On guitar, Aldrich lends his fiery guitar attack to round out this dream-come-true melodic rock band. Doug, who left WHITESNAKE after a fruitful 12-year run (including co-writing 2010's critically acclaimed "Forevermore" release) and also of BURNING RAIN and formerly of DIO, has a deep pedigree and is one of today’s most respected rock guitarists.

You can tell by the name — and the names involved — that REVOLUTION SAINTS is not going to be your average rock 'n roll band. The project is the vision of Frontiers' president Serafino Perugino, who for years had hoped to work on a project where Deen would be the lead vocalist. Having previously worked with all three artists on different projects on Frontiers, having Deen, Jack and Doug on board together was a dream come true for Perugino

With production overseen by more and more in demand in-house Frontiers man Alessandro Del Vecchio, the recording process took place in Milan and in Doug and Jack's own studios in California and Seattle. Songwriting was handled by Del Vecchio, Aldrich, and Blades, with contributions from fellow Frontiers recording artist Dan Rossall (of U.K. newcomers PASSION). Of special note, the poignant ballad "Eyes Of A Child" was penned by Jack Blades and Tommy Shaw.

Watch JUDAS PRIEST's RICHIE FAULKNER Jam With JARED JAMES NICHOLS In Nashville

JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Richie Faulkner joined rising guitar hero Jared James Nichols on stage this past Sunday (November 17) at the The Basement East in Nashville, Tennessee for a short jam.

The next day, Faulkner tweeted a photo of the performance and included the following message: "Had a blast last Night in #Nashville, laying down some fury with my brother @jaredjamesnichols. Les Paul's held high and the energy was electric. Thanks to Jared and his band for having me and to @john5official for a master class in shred guitar RHRF DOTF #firepower #bluespower"

Jared's recent single "Nails In The Coffin" was a popular A-listed radio hit on Planet Rock radio. Recorded in Los Angeles, the single was produced and co-written by Mark Jackson and Ian Scott; best known for being the team behind the artist Dorothy and the hit single "The River" by Bishop Briggs.

2019 was a ground-breaking year for Jared as Gibson/Epiphone released his Signature Model Les Paul Custom Guitar along with the release of the Blackstar Amps JJN-20R MKII.

Hailed as one of the most exciting new blues rock guitarists around, Jared has toured Europe with LYNYRD SKYNYRD, followed by an extensive U.K. tour supporting the legendary Glenn Hughes, where he won over critics with across-the-board rave reviews. He also toured with STONE BROKEN and opened the Planet Rock Main Stage at Ramblin' Man Fair in 2017.

SCOTT IAN Is Selling Handwritten Lyrics From ANTHRAX And STORMTROOPERS OF DEATH

Scott Ian is selling handwritten lyrics from both ANTHRAX and STORMTROOPERS OF DEATH via his official web site.

Says Ian: "Choose any ANTHRAX or S.O.D. song and I will personalize or dedicate them to anyone you want. The lyrics will come with a signed certificate of authenticity and a stage-played guitar pick."

Each set of lyrics can be yours for $95.00.

In a 2016 interview with Full Metal Jackie, Ian said that he loved writing lyrics. "Don't get me wrong — it's still such a challenge for me," he said. "I just find the mechanics of it so odd and challenging, and I think that's something that I love so much about it.

Elaborating on his lyric-writing process, Ian said: "I'm always thinking. I'm always making notes. It's one of the good things about technology. With my iPhone, I can always just — any idea I have, I just write it in my phone. Then when it comes time to actually start writing lyrics, that usually, for me, doesn't come until we've got pretty solid song arrangement and I can sit and listen to the instrumental versions of the songs and that really is what gets my brain into gear as far as what a song is going to be about. The feeling of the riffs, whether if I feel a riff is angry or the riffs will tell me, 'Okay, this is going to be this kind of song.' 'I need lyrics like this. 'Or sometimes I'll just start singing words to a part that are complete nonsense and then from those nonsense words start figuring out what I'm going to write about."

He continued: "I know it sounds weird and spacey, but it really is the music that tells me. A song knows what it's going to be about and it lets me in on the secret, and then I'm, like, 'Oh, that's who you are.' Then I'll go through my notes and see if there's anything in there that makes that song happy. Like, 'All right, these lyrics fit with these riffs really well. They should get married.' I literally think about all that kind of crap when I'm writing. But really, it's just a case of coming up with ideas that I feel passionate about. Most of the time it's stuff that makes me angry about the world. Hate and love, both very strong emotions. I just tend to write more hateful songs about things on the planet than I do love songs."

ANTHRAX is continuing to tour in support of its latest album, "For All Kings", which was released in February 2016.

MARTIN POPOFF Releases New Book, Holy Smoke: IRON MAIDEN In The '90s

Journalist / author Martin Popoff has released his new book, Holy Smoke: Iron Maiden In The ‘90s.

Says Popoff: "It’s the follow-up to Where Eagles Dare: Iron Maiden in the ‘80s, with matching design and style, same tipped-in sections of colour photography, every song examined deeply and all that. You’ve all been very kind in making my recent books like this on Sabbath and Priest sell pretty damn good, so this one is very much a style match to those too."

Finally I get to do the Maiden story… relaxed, fully involved, include all the detail, lots of facts and trivia but no holding back on opinion as well. There will likely be a third one to bring us up to present day, but I haven’t even started."

As the back cover sez… Heavy metal in the 1990s was a forbidden art, relegated to the sidelines to watch grunge and alternative, ridiculed and denigrated and nearly drummed out of existence. But grinding through the decade, both Iron Maiden and Bruce Dickinson as a solo artist clenched their collective British dentistry and persevered, not that commercial and critical accolades were forthcoming on all fronts.

Holy Smoke: Iron Maiden In The ‘90s is the story of both those solitudes, to be specific, the typical Popoff deep dish analysis of the complete catalogues, namely No Prayer For The Dying, Fear Of The Dark, The X Factor and Virtual XI, but also Tattooed Millionaire, Balls To Picasso, Skunkworks, Accident Of Birth and The Chemical Wedding.

The live albums get a look-in as well, as does, right at the end, the inspiring return of Bruce Dickinson to the band. Along the way there’s lots of Blaze Bayley and cursory glances into what Paul Di’Anno and Adrian Smith are up to during this accursed decade.

All told, the hope is that the reader will come away with a new appreciation of these records. And even if impressions of the Maiden side of the equation aren’t particularly improved, surely large swaths of the Bruce catalogue will please anew—seriously, revisit this material and you will very likely come away impressed. Here’s the most detailed and respectful analysis of those records ever put to print to help you on your way.

Former MORBID ANGEL Frontman DAVID VINCENT To Release 'I AM MORBID' Autobiography In February

Former MORBID ANGEL frontman David Vincent will release his autobiography, "I Am Morbid: Ten Lessons Learned From Extreme Metal, Outlaw Country, And The Power Of Self-Determination", on paperback on February 11, 2020 via Jawbone Press.

"I Am Morbid" tells the astounding story of Vincent, former bassist and singer with MORBID ANGEL and now outlaw-country performer and leader of the I AM MORBID supergroup. Written with the bestselling author Joel McIver, it's an autobiography that transcends the heavy metal category by its very nature. Much more than a mere memoir, "I Am Morbid" is an instruction manual for life at the sharp end — a gathering of wisdom distilled into ten acute lessons for anyone interested in furthering their fortunes in life.

MORBID ANGEL redefined the term pioneers. A band of heavy-metal-loving kids from all over America who broke through a host of music industry prejudices and went on to scale huge commercial heights, they introduced a whole new form of extreme music to the world. Formed in 1984, and breaking into the limelight in 1989 with their devastating first album, "Altars Of Madness", the Florida death-metal legends became the first band of their genre to sign to a major label, from which point they came to dominate the worldwide metal scene for two decades and beyond.

David left MORBID ANGEL in 1996, and again, following a reunion, in 2015. For the first time, "I Am Morbid" explores the reasons behind his departure, and the transformation of his life, career, and music in the years since. This is a classic but never predictable tale of a man who has fought convention every step of the way — and won.

Vincent recently released "Something Wicked Marches In", the debut album from his supergroup VLTIMAS, also featuring guitarist Rune Eriksen (formerly of MAYHEM) and CRYPTOPSY drummer Flo Mounier.

In 2017, Vincent released his debut country single, "Drinkin' With The Devil", with tentative plans to complete a follow-up record.

After Vincent's last exit from MORBID ANGEL, he was replaced by a returning Steve Tucker, who previously handled bass and vocals on MORBID ANGEL's "Formulas Fatal To The Flesh", "Gateways To Annihilation" and "Heretic" LPs.

Vincent recently defended his right to perform MORBID ANGEL's classic songs with his I AM MORBID project, telling Portugal's "Metal Global" radio show: "Times come and life works the way that it does. And there are times when… It's like a marriage — sometimes they don't always work forever. But that doesn't mean that the children that we've had together, that I don't still love my children. Although Trey [Azagthoth, MORBID ANGEL guitarist and sole remaining original member] and I have some irreconcilable differences, that doesn't in any way preclude me from still having the love and the passion for all of my children."

OCEAHOARSE - Debut EP Voluntary Bends Released; Confirmed To Support NIGHTWISH Bassist / Vocalist MARCO HIETALA On Upcoming European Tour

Oceanhoarse, the Helsinki-based heavy metal quartet has released it's debut EP, Voluntary Bends, consisting of the group's two latest singles, two brand new tracks, and also includes a cover version of Slipknot's "Duality".

Guitarist Ben Varon: "We've been putting out singles for the past couple of years, and even thought this has proven to be a smart move, we wanted to release something with a bit more material to dive into at once, as well as a physical release for the collectors. We don't want to rush it with the debut album, so an EP felt like the way to go. 'Voluntary Bends' is the perfect introduction into the Oceanhoarse universe."

The two previously released singles, "Death Row Center" and "Feed The Sirens" are joined by two new tracks, the thrashy "Stitches" and the fast and furious "Maze of Death". The aggression of the new songs was not a coincidence.

Varon: "We have a ton of material written and ready, a lot of which will be on the debut album, and even some songs we're planning on putting on the second one. We're not releasing songs in the order they're written, but instead think carefully about what side of the band we want to present to the world and when, and what kind of a bigger picture we want to paint. We consciously brought the average tempo of the EP up by adding a couple fast, nasty tracks to it. Let's see about them ballads further down the line, now it's time to bang those heads!”

The idea for the Slipknot cover came about after Oceanhoarse played a full set of covers at a party celebrating their local metal bar.

Varon: "It was a blast playing that show, choosing a bunch of our favourite tunes from the likes of Ozzy, Alice in Chains and Metallica. We also played 'Duality', which worked out particularly well between the four of us. I think we have enough of our own twist in our version, while still remaining true to the original."

Oceanhoarse will celebrate the release of the EP at Hoarsefest, their very own indoor festival held at On The Rocks, Helsinki on December 28th. Also on the bill are I Revolt, DIRT, Wake up Frankie and Thy Row. Come February, it's time for Oceanhoarse to head out to Europe for their first proper tour. The band will be the special guest of Marko Hietala (Nightwish), and the tour will take them to the following cities:

Tour dates are as follows:

Febriary
2 - Markthalle - Hamburg, Germany

FAMOUS UNDERGROUND Working On New Album For 2020 Release; Frontman NICK WALSH's VICTORY VOX Project Now Available

Famous Underground / Slik Toxik / Classic Albums Live frontman Nick Walsh has checked in with the following update:

"Hey There! I have had lots of folks asking me what I have been doing musically for the last little while as they have not heard any new material from me in some time. Well, as most of you know I have been performing rather regularly with Classic Albums Live which has kept me quite busy on the road. However, creativity never sleeps.

Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to work with the label HardMD/APM to co-write and record 2 albums worth of material with composer / producer Ross Hardy. The main purpose for these recordings are for licensing to film, television, games and other forms of media entertainment. With this release the main theme throughout is motivation, inspiration and achieving ones goal, hence why it is pretty much sports-oriented.

The record is called Victory Vox, and can be heard on most of the various platforms in which we now consume our music i.e. Spotify, Google Play, Apple Music, YouTube, etc.

All the while doing this, I have almost completed all of the song writing and pre-production for the next Famous Underground album which we are gunning for a 2020 release."

Check out Victory Vox via Spotify here.

The clip below features Walsh with Classic Albums Live performing the Led Zeppelin classic "Dazed And Confused". The footage was shot at the Q107 studios in Toronto.

CHASE ENGEL AND THE NIGHT SHIFT Release "Lost" Music Video

Hot on the heels of their just-released self-titled EP, Chase Engel And The Night Shift have issued a new video for one of their top tracks, “Lost”.

Produced by Tesla’s Brian Wheat and released via his label, J Street Entertainment, the band (which is comprised of singer Engel, lead guitarist Conner Schrems, rhythm guitarist/saxophonist Noah Schieber, bassist Jason King, and drummer Matt Gottlieb) proves that fun can still exist within rock - and the “Lost” clip further confirms this claim. The video can be viewed below.

And as it turns out, the video was the first that they sent to Brian, who in turn began working with the band shortly thereafter. “This was the first music video we shot for the EP,” explains Chase. "It was also the first time we really tried to showcase what we look like at a live show. For us we felt like everything was riding on this video. Brian knew a little bit about what we were doing with our show but not a lot. So with this being the first official thing we sent him it had to be awesome. It wasn’t until after he seen this video that he said OK I think we’ve got something here. We actually shut the entire video three separate times over the course of about a year until we got the video to where we wanted it and in the end it was worth it!” And Conner is equally pleased with the finished product. “It’s not easy keeping people attention anymore for a full 3 minutes, especially with a performance video, but I think we pulled it off with ‘Lost’.”

Additionally, Chase Engel And The Night Shift will be playing a show with Buckcherry and have issued an earlier video, for the lead-off single, “Sorry”, which can be viewed below.

“‘Sorry’ was a song I wrote quite a while ago,” explains Engel. “We had played it live for many years and then wound up taking it out to play newer stuff. It wasn’t until Brian asked me to send him demos that I revisited the track and thought, ‘This one was pretty cool!.’ After we recorded it with Brian it really brought the song to life. Shooting the video was a lot of fun. It was the first video that we shoot that included more than just performance which was nice as it gave me the chance to expand my creativity beyond music and the show. Luckily, we had a great videographer, an experienced lighting crew, and the help of some talented actresses to pull it off.”

The singer also discussed the story behind their debut release. “The EP has been journey. There is a real learning curve when coming into the industry. Working with Brian Wheat was a surreal experience. Brian, working as producer later taking on the role as manager, really helped shape the EP into something bigger. Brian challenged us in ways we hadn’t anticipated, helping us grow as artists and songwriters. Picking favorites when it comes to your own songs is hard. Each one is special in its own right. The song ‘What to Do’ yields a bit of hip-hop, whereas ‘Lost’ leans more on our heavier influences. ‘Sorry’ shows our modern pop-rock side, while ‘Nighttime’ and ‘Let’s Get It On’ show our old-school roots. While each song is unique, we seem to have a way of bring them together.”

Tracklisting:

"Don't Know What To Do"
"Lost"
"Sorry"
"Let's Get It On"
"Nitetime"
