SEVEN SPIRES To Release Emerald Seas Album In February; "Succumb" Music Video Streaming

Seven Spires is an American metal quartet who enjoy drawing from across the spectrum of metal and beyond to tell their tales of demons, death, love, and the peculiarities of the human condition. The band’s sophomore album, Emerald Seas, is a highly emotional, dark, and theatrical epic, which will be released on February 14 via Frontiers Music Srl.

For a first taste of the album, watch the video for “Succumb” below. Pre-order the album and stream the single here.

“‘Succumb’ was written in the heart of Boston while we were still attending Berklee." explains vocalist Adrienne Cowan. “As many of our songs do, it began as vocals and piano, and then we fleshed out the rest of the arrangement together. I suppose everyone has their own experiences and hopefully will interpret the lyrics to the song in their own way, but in the story of 'Emerald Seas', the main character has departed on their long journey and is indulging in memories of someone quite special instead of focusing on their quest. It's a bittersweet one... but aren't they all?”

Emerald Seas is a theatrical concept album, and is the prequel to the story of their debut full-length, Solveig. The album follows a lone sea captain on their quest for eternal life while being hunted by an ancient beast and struggling with loneliness, sacrifice, alcoholism, and the unexpected weight that comes with achieving one’s goals. Seven Spires’ signature blend of melancholic beauty and emotional brutality on Emerald Seas is the sonic manifestation of the silent emptiness that chills one's insides when staring across bleak, open waters.

The band explains the influences behind the album, “Musically, Emerald Seas is influenced by our usual mix of melodic and extreme metal favorites and Hans Zimmer worship. We immersed ourselves deeply in 19th Century Romantic music and art while writing this record, and I like to think some  traits from that era are present as a result. It's highly emotional; sweet and melodic at times, and quite dark and brutal at others, especially when dealing with themes like losing one's fear of death.”

The band, as with their debut, collaborated with Sascha Paeth (Avantasia, Kamelot, Epica, etc), who mixed and mastered the album. Incidentally, Adrienne Cowan was handpicked by Paeth to front his new band, Sascha Paeth’s Masters of Ceremony, and she is also one of the touring vocalists for the hugely popular Avantasia.

“Touring with Avantasia and Sascha Paeth's Masters of Ceremony has mostly influenced my live singing and performance style,” explains Cowan. “It has been an incredibly inspiring experience to be a part of these groups where everyone is a long-standing master of their craft and of their artistic selves.”

Seven Spires will tour extensively behind Emerald Seas. Tours with Insomnium and Omnium Gatherum and Amaranthe and Battle Beast, respectively, have already been announced. Find the band's tour itinerary here.

Seven Spires met while studying at the world renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, so we need not spend much time going on about their musical capabilities, but needless to say, the band’s musicianship is in keeping with the metal tradition of tirelessly working to be the best at your craft. Singer Adrienne Cowan is a true talent, with vocals ranging from the beautiful to the demonic, while her bandmates Jack Kosto (guitar), Peter de Reyna (bass), and Chris Dovas (drums) weave intricate musical tales to accompany the lyrical tales presented here.

Following a successful crowdfunding campaign and self-release of their debut album Solveig, Seven Spires performed extensively in the US and Canada and at festivals such as MetalDays, 70000 Tons Of Metal, and ProgPower USA.

Seven Spires continue Frontiers' tradition of identifying and signing the most promising young talents to ensure that the future of hard rock and metal music is in good hands.

LOVEKILLERS Feat. TONY HARNELL Streaming New Song "Ball And Chain"

Frontiers Music Srl will release the self-titled debut album from melodic rock project, Lovekillers feat. Tony Harnell, on December 6. Pre-order the album here, and listen to the song "Ball And Chain", below.

Well known for being the vocalist of TNT’s classic lineup, Tony Harnell is an accomplished musician and songwriter who has also worked with such bands as Starbreaker and Westworld, while also performing as a solo artist. Harnell's vocals are unique entity in the melodic hard rock and rock worlds and Lovekillers marks a return to a sound reminiscent of classic '80s melodic hard rock. The album is an over-the-top and straight ahead tribute to that classic '80s sound, bringing it back with a passion and the amazing vocal register that only Harnell can deliver.

“I think Lovekillers is a different beast compared to many of the things I worked on in the past,” says Tony. “It has a lighter, more American and very melodic feel. It was a very comfortable territory, artistically, singing those songs. Sometimes, I also worked to tweak some lyrics and melodies here and there and on a couple of songs I worked harder to rewrite them, but I think the end result speaks for itself.”

On this album, Tony collaborated with in-demand Frontiers in-house producer Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Jorn, Revolution Saints) and the end result is a a glossy, polished record with top-notch production. Besides Del Vecchio and Harnell, songwriters on the album include Nigel Bailey, Pete Alpenborg, Marco Sivo, and Jonas Hornqvist.

Tony Harnell recently became the first American to be inducted into Norway's prestigious Rockheim Hall of Fame. He was inducted along with TNT and the ceremony will be televised nationally in Norway later this year.

For melodic rock fans, Lovekillers feat. Tony Harnell is a can't miss.

ALTER BRIDGE's MYLES KENNEDY On Appearing In 'Rock Star' Movie: 'There Wasn't An Ounce Of Acting In It'

Masters Of Shred's "Talking Shred" recently conducted an interview with ALTER BRIDGE frontman Myles Kennedy. You can watch the entire chat below. A few excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On the writing process for ALTER BRIDGE's latest studio album, "Walk The Sky":

Myles: "This was a unique record because Mark [Tremonti, guitar] and I wrote separately for a lot of this. Normally, we would get together — it was important to have each guy to feel like they were a part of the song. Mark and I were, like, 'I've got a chorus,' and, 'You've got a riff and a verse,' or vice versa, but we just didn't have time because we were both out touring in our various other bands. There was a fair amount of songs that we would demo on our own. Some of the stuff was just well on its way before we started pre-[production]. That was the difference in the evolution of how this record came together."

On what he's learned from Tremonti as well as Slash, whose solo band, SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS, is fronted by Kennedy:

Myles: "I think the thing with both of them is the dedication to the craft. They both practice hours and hours a day, which is inspiring. It's great to see that. These are two who have achieved so much and they can be just, 'Give me my guitar for the show.' But they love the instrument, and it's what makes them happiest. That's a beautiful thing. I think playing with Mark has really helped me with my right hand and more of the metal approach; though I have an appreciation for it, it's not something I spent a lot of time to develop. I had to learn to incorporate that into my bag of tricks the best that I could in this band. And with Slash, a lot of it is just the feel, his emotional intensity. That's the thing he's got. There will be nights when he's playing a solo — it's interesting because he's a man of few words. He's quiet a lot, he's very introspective, but when he says stuff, it's usually really witty and funny and you know there's a shitload going up there [points to head]. It's awesome. But when he plays, when he starts expressing himself on the instrument, it's, like, 'Geez, there's so much emotion and passion in that guy.' It's really inspiring."

On appearing in the 2001 movie "Rock Star", starring Mark Wahlberg, that was loosely based on the career of JUDAS PRIEST frontman Tim "Ripper" Owens:

Myles: "That was a trip. That whole thing was a trip. It's funny because, it wasn't even like I was acting, because I was just, like, this dude from Spokane, Washington and I'm in Hollywood making a film with these heavy hitters. It's, like, 'Why am I here? This is crazy.' It was really easy to be this goofy guy who was all excited to be there standing up with this band because I'm a goofy guy who was excited to be up there standing with this band. It was crazy. It was totally natural. There wasn't an ounce of acting in it. That was me being a dork. [Laughs]"

"Walk The Sky" was released on October 18 via Napalm Records.

ALTER BRIDGE recently completed a co-headlining tour with SKILLET.

STEVE HARRIS On Hypothetical IRON MAIDEN/JUDAS PRIEST Tour: 'Why Not?'

Steve Harris says that he is not opposed to IRON MAIDEN sharing the stage with JUDAS PRIEST.

Earlier this month, PRIEST singer Rob Halford said that he would love to see his band join forces with IRON MAIDEN for a tour. "I think both bands would look to do that," he told Consequence Of Sound. "It's all about the timing of doing such a thing. We're good friends."

He added: "When we talk about rivalry, healthy rivalry, it's like the Arizona Cardinals and the Raiders or the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors. It's that kind of rivalry, a good rivalry. It's a fun rivalry. But I think both bands have admired each other throughout the metal years, and it would be a spectacular event — PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN together."

During an appearance earlier today (Tuesday, November 12) on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation", Harris was asked for his opinion on a hypothetical MAIDEN/PRIEST pairing. He responded: "It's funny because I saw [Halford's comments in the media] myself. And also, apparently someone today said that [JUDAS PRIEST bassist] Ian Hill said something about it as well. So, I don't know. I suppose the management has gotta get their heads together and [make] something like that [happen]. But, yeah, why not? I suppose the fans can push for it to happen. But we'll see."

Harris also talked about his recollections of MAIDEN's 1981 North American tour as the support act for PRIEST, which, at the time, was promoting its "Point Of Entry" record.

"[I have] lots of good memories," he said. "And I really love that album, 'Point Of Entry'. Some people don't think it's their favorite PRIEST album. But I suppose 'cause we were on tour [with PRIEST when they were supporting] it, I really liked it."

Last year, former JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Ken "K.K." Downing told SiriusXM's Eddie Trunk that the contentious rivalry between PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN developed when the two bands toured together in the early 1980s. "We'd just finished the 'British Steel' record in England, and we were going out on tour [in early 1980 with IRON MAIDEN]," he recalled. "And then the next thing I know, I read in a music paper that [IRON MAIDEN said] something like, 'Yeah, we're gonna blow the bollocks off PRIEST,' or something like that. And I went, 'What the hell is this shit?' We were still in the recording studio, tidying up the last mixes or something. And I said, 'Well, who are these guys?' Why should we have [them] on tour if they're gonna create this type of vibe before we've even met them, let alone done a show together?' I said, 'Let's get rid of them and get somebody that really appreciates the gig,' of which there would have been an awful lot of bands. But anyway, everybody talked me into going with it, and I said, 'Well, fine,' obviously being democratic. And the next thing I know, we were at the rehearsals at some theater in London somewhere, and this bunch of guys walked in and just sat down in front of me. And I said to my guitar tech, 'Who are those dudes there?' [Laughs] And he went, 'Oh, that's the support band.' And I said, 'Well, who the hell invited them into our rehearsal?' I was thinking about what I read in the papers. And I said, 'Well, just go and tell them that they weren't invited and they need to leave.' I didn't see an invite; nobody told me they were coming in — when you're trying to work out songs and this and that and the other. So that's what happened."

Downing continued: "Anyway, we went on tour [together], and can I just say they didn't blow the bollocks off JUDAS PRIEST — we were pretty well established at the time, and those guys were coming up through the ranks. So that happened. But it wasn't a good atmosphere on the tour, and it's not something I like to have happen — it shouldn't be that way. And next thing I know, somebody [said], 'Oh, IRON MAIDEN is opening up for you on their first U.S. tour [in 1981].' And I went, 'Oh, no! Not again. Can we just not have those guys on [the tour]?' But they came on the tour [anyway], and they created upsets, is what they did, for different reasons and it led to a confrontation and it got a bit ugly. I don't know how it all happened, but I did meet [former IRON MAIDEN singer] Paul Di'Anno so many years later, in about 1995, and he said, 'Hey, K.K., we're sorry about that quote in the paper.' And that's all you need.

"But, anyway, like I said, it's all water under the bridge," K.K. added. "Those guys were young, coming up through the ranks, a bit delinquent, but at least they had balls, they got on with it, they knew what they wanted to do."

In his autobiography, Di'Anno claimed that he was the main reason old feelings of rivalry existed between MAIDEN and PRIEST during the early 1980s — something that Downing later denied. "Paul apologized personally to me — what a great gesture," K.K. told Rock Hard magazine in a 2003 interview. "But he wasn't the main reason for the rivalry. At the time of 'British Steel', PRIEST was the bigger band and MAIDEN was the supporting act. They were saying that they [would] blow us off the stage without any problem — well, I thought their behavior wasn't very nice. I'd have loved to send them home to take another band with us, [one] who would have appreciated the chance. But we were told not to do it as it would have looked like we were frightened by them. So we kept on going... but they were very arrogant. And I remember the main rehearsal before the tour when there were a few guys hanging around in the room who didn't say a word and watched everything we did — every step we made and every move of the stage lights. I wasn't very pleased and asked the guitar tech to tell the guys to leave the place. Don't get me wrong: I'm not too good not to play in front of the supporting band — but they could have asked, at least, if it was okay to attend the rehearsal. We went on tour and they didn't blow us off the stage, of course. I watched quite a lot of the MAIDEN shows, but the reaction of the audience wasn't very explosive — because the fans were waiting for us. Okay, MAIDEN became one of the biggest bands of the metal scene — and I'm proud of them. We made a big mistake by focusing more on the U.S. than on Europe after releasing 'British Steel'. [I mean], we lost a lot of attention at home. In the U.S., we were quite big — and MAIDEN asked us for a support slot on our U.S. tour. We said yes — and the same old story happened again. It had a lot to do with rivalry and jealousy."

When asked what he would say to Harris if they bumped into each other, K.K. told Rock Hard: "I'd buy him a beer — because it's an old story. Like I already said, I'm proud of what MAIDEN achieved and of what they did for the British metal. It might sound stupid — but it's true."

MEGADETH's DAVID ELLEFSON Calls JUDAS PRIEST's IAN HILL 'The Most Formidable, Iconic Heavy Metal Bass Player'

MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson has sung the praises of JUDAS PRIEST four-stringer Ian Hill, calling him the "most formidable, probably iconic heavy metal bass player."

Currently the longest-tenured member of PRIEST, Hill has long been overshadowed by frontman Rob Halford and the guitar tandem of Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing, with Hill found permanently planted stage left behind his bandmates. Similarly, Hill is usually not mentioned in the same breath as other legendary heavy metal bass players, notably IRON MAIDEN's Steve Harris, METALLICA's Cliff Burton and BLACK SABBATH's Geezer Butler.

In a recent interview with Metal Underground's Diamond Oz leading up to his November 3 appearance in Wolverhampton, England with Downing and fellow PRIEST alumnus vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens and drummer Les Binks where they were to perform a "full-length set of PRIEST classics," Ellefson spoke about Hill's influence, as well as the similarities between the respective careers of MEGADETH and PRIEST.

"I am Ian Hill's biggest fan," David said (see video below). "I have always admired his bass playing from the minute I heard it. It's clean; it's precise. I've emulated a lot of his style during probably the '90s MEGADETH when our songs got a little bit more mainstream; I emulated what JUDAS PRIEST went through when they had their big '80s MTV years. Ian's bass playing, at times, it was very progressive, almost [in the style of] JETHRO TULL, Jack Bruce [CREAM]. Then there's times he plays real simple to support the song. He has been a number one influence of mine. [Other influences were] Steve Harris [IRON MAIDEN], Geddy Lee [RUSH], and, of course, Gene Simmons [KISS], but Ian doesn't get a lot of the big celebrity credit because he's not down front — he's intentionally in the back — and he really holds down the role. If you think about the most formidable, probably iconic heavy metal bass player, he is it. Now I'm not just listening to these songs in my car as a fan, but to pick up the bass and really study what he's doing, has really been an incredible education."

He continued: "It's funny how JUDAS PRIEST and MEGADETH are so similar in so many ways. Obviously, a lot of what we learned we learned from JUDAS PRIEST. Yet, as K.K. talked about in his book, by the time they did 'Painkiller', they were very aware of this thrash metal genre, which is us coming up behind them. I think it kicked them in the pants and got them to dig deep and come up with records like 'Painkiller', and even the couple of records when Ripper was in the band. There's some pretty deep, pretty intricate stuff — very different JUDAS PRIEST in that era. I can relate to that. MEGADETH has done the same thing. We've had to reinvent and dig deep and to reinvent ourselves throughout the 36 years we've been a band. In a lot of ways, JUDAS PRIEST and MEGADETH have walked a very similar path. I think those are things that probably bond me and K.K. as kind of brothers in arms as professional musicians."

The one-off show at K.K.'s Steel Mill featured a full band set from Ellefson's "Sleeping Giants" band, followed by the PRIEST set with Downing, Binks and Owens. Former IRON MAIDEN vocalist Blaze Bayley was the evening's opening support act. Additionally, the Steel Mill hosted a special pre-show VIP event whereby attendees were treated to a "More Life With Deth" book-signing event and one-on-one question-and-answer session with Ellefson, Downing and Ellefson's "More Life With Deth" co-author Thom Hazaert, moderated by Mark Eglinton, who co-authored Downing's recent memoir "Heavy Duty Days And Nights In Judas Priest".

PINK FLOYD's The Later Years Collection Unboxed; Video

On November 29, Pink Floyd Records will release Pink Floyd The Later Years, a 16-disc set (5xCDs, 6xBlu-Rays, 5xDVDs) covering the material created by David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright from 1987 onwards. Watch an unboxing video below:

The period generated record sales of over 40 million worldwide and included three studio albums: A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, The Division Bell and The Endless River as well as two live albums: Delicate Sound Of Thunder and Pulse. With additional production from David Gilmour and Andy Jackson, over 13 hours of unreleased audio and audiovisual material, including the sought-after 1989 Venice and 1990 Knebworth concerts, Pink Floyd The Later Years is a must for all fans.

A multi-media, deluxe box set, Pink Floyd The Later Years presents an expanded view of the Pink Floyd story from 1987 to the present and kicks off with A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, the album that confirmed Pink Floyd as one of the world’s biggest artists.

The album, presented for the first time in 5.1, has been remixed and updated by David Gilmour and Andy Jackson. The release of The Later Years project gives an opportunity for a fresh overview of the A Momentary Lapse Of Reason album. By returning to some of Richard Wright’s keyboard parts and recording new drum tracks with Nick Mason, producers David Gilmour and Bob Ezrin have restored the creative balance between the three Pink Floyd members.

Throughout 1987 and 1988 the band’s live shows became the largest-grossing concert tour ever to that date and produced the critically acclaimed, Grammy Award nominated, Delicate Sound Of Thunder. Filmed at the Nassau Coliseum in New York State, the concert shows the band on the top of their form. The concert has been fully re-edited and upgraded from the original 35mm film negatives by Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell and Benny Trickett and the sound remixed to 5.1. It also includes "Terminal Frost" and "Welcome To The Machine", two tracks that were not included on the original concert film release. For the first time the concert is available in 5.1 on Blu-ray and DVD.

Two of the most sought-after additions to Pink Floyd The Later Years are the 1989 Venice Concert, performed on a floating stage in front of St Mark’s Square, and the 1990 Silver Clef Winners performance at Knebworth. Both concerts, previously unreleased, are now available on both DVD and Blu-ray (145mins). The momentous Knebworth concert saw Pink Floyd topping the all-star bill (that included Paul McCartney, Dire Straits, Genesis, Phil Collins, Eric Clapton and Tears For Fears), in aid of the Nordoff Robbins charity, profits from which went towards setting up the BRIT School. David Gilmour and Andy Jackson have remixed the audio from this iconic concert and all seven tracks performed on the day (with guest musicians including sax player Candy Dulfer, the original The Great Gig In The Sky vocalist Clare Torry, keyboard player Michael Kamen and Sam Brown with her mother, Vicki, on vocals), are released here as well as for the first time ever on CD.

1994’s album The Division Bell sold over 12 million copies, having debuted at No 1 in the UK, the USA, Australia and New Zealand. It stayed at the top of the US charts for 4 weeks, and also went to No 1 in six other countries. The resulting tour was captured and recorded for the concert release Pulse. This release contains the entire Pulse live concert film, re-edited and upgraded from the original masters, from the groundbreaking Earl’s Court gigs, and available for the first time on Blu-ray. Also uncovered for the first time is footage of the band in rehearsals on October 20, 1994 performing "A Great Day For Freedom" and "Lost For Words".

In 2014, Pink Floyd released The Endless River, comprising mostly instrumental and ambient music based on material recorded during The Division Bell sessions. Featuring David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright, additional material was recorded in 2013 and 2014, with one song, "Louder Than Words", with lyrics by author & novelist Polly Samson (the primary lyricist for The Division Bell album). The Endless River became the most pre-ordered album of all time on Amazon UK and debuted at number one in several countries. The vinyl edition was the fastest-selling UK vinyl release since 1997. Included here for the first time is the never previously seen specially commissioned full 52-minute The Endless River film by Ian Emes, famed for his work with Pink Floyd, including his animations for "One Of These Days", "Speak To Me", "Time" and "On The Run".

Rounding off the package are hours of unreleased bonus materials including music videos, documentary footage, bonus live tracks, upgraded tour screen films and documentaries. It includes the first ever release, on Blu-ray, DVD and 7” vinyl, of the last live performance of Pink Floyd with David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright together in 2007. This special performance of Arnold Layne took place at the Syd Barrett Tribute Concert at The Barbican on 10 May 2007. The full set boasts previously unreleased or remixed audio, plus restored, remastered and re-edited audio-visuals including unreleased concert footage and promo clips.

With the help of Nick Mason and the Pink Floyd archive, the box set comes with reproductions of tour artwork, posters, programmes, tour laminates, lyric book and much more including two 7” vinyl singles, (the live version of "Arnold Layne" performed at the Syd Barrett Tribute Concert in 2007 and "Lost For Words" from the Pulse tour rehearsals at Earl’s Court), in new picture sleeves and etched image B-sides. Also included is a brand new 60-page hardback book of photos, designed by Aubrey Powell of Hipgnosis and Peter Curzon of StormStudios, including many previously unseen images.

The 5 CDs are encased in their own 40-page hardback book with an extensive guide to all content, tracklists and credits.

There will also be a 2-LP / 1-CD ‘Highlights’ package. It comes in a gatefold sleeve (for both 1-CD and 2-LP), and each will contain a 24-page booklet containing previously unseen and rare photos.

Pink Floyd The Later Years will be released on November 29, and is available to pre-order here.

ARCH ENEMY Drummer Says Group Is 'Still In The Early Stages' Of Writing New Album

Prior to ARCH ENEMY's October 26 performance in Hollywood, California, drummer Daniel Erlandsson spoke with Allie Jorgensen of LA Metal Media. The full conversation can be seen below. A few excerpts follow (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET.

On the group's just-completed U.S. tour with AMON AMARTH, AT THE GATES and GRAND MAGUS:

Daniel: "It's been a really good tour. We haven't been supporting that much lately. It's been a few years since we did that, so it's been great to reach out to the AMON AMARTH fans. It's been a great vibe backstage as well — four Swedish bands. It's been cool."

On the songwriting process for the group's latest album, "Will To Power":

Daniel: "The process is usually Michael Amott writing most of the riffs. It's always been that way. He comes up with the riffs, and the other bandmembers contribute a little bit, you know. It's like building a big jigsaw puzzle, kind of. Eventually, and hopefully, all the pieces fit and we have a new album. On the last album, we worked pretty much me and him together. It's just a really natural process for us. We've been doing this over 20 years now, so we have a pretty smooth communication that works out well. Then you have Alissa [White-Gluz, vocalist] coming in and writing some of the lyrics. In the studio, everybody contributes with their identity."

On whether the group's material evolves drastically between the time it's demoed to the time it's released:

Daniel: "It's rare, because there's a tendency to fall in love with the demo. You listen to it so much that when it's time to actually record it, you sometimes just go back to saying, 'Let's do it like we did on the demo,' because it was good. Some songs really come together in the studio. They were not properly finished when we got into the studio, and then it' a little bit of a different story, and anything can happen."

On "The World Is Yours":

Daniel: "'The World Is Yours' was the first song that we finished writing [for 'Will To Power']. It was actually finished a good while before the other songs. Once we had the whole album recorded and all the songs in front of us, we just felt like this is the one that really stands out as the most typical ARCH ENEMY song in a way. It had all the stuff we want in a song, like the fast double kicks and the shredding guitars, everything. The energy is there, so it was the obvious choice [for a single]."

On ARCH ENEMY's first-ever ballad, "Reason To Believe":

Daniel: "The reason it was time for a ballad [was that] a lot of our influences from back in the day — I'm talking about bands like JUDAS PRIEST and SCORPIONS, bands from that type of style — they always had a ballad somewhere in there, so it was not a huge step for us as it might seem. For me, playing drums that slowly, that was a challenge, actually, because I don't think I've ever done that. But Alissa is a great singer as well — she has a nice, clean voice, and she can do that stuff too, so why not? It was a chance for us to put another flavor to the album. It kind of makes the whole album breathe a bit more."

On what guitarist Jeff Loomis brings to the band:

Daniel: "First of all, he's an amazing guitar player — a mind-blowing guitar player, really — but he's also a very, very nice guy. His personality fits really well in with the band. When we're onstage or offstage, he contributes to the good vibes in the band, and that's really, really important when we spend so much time on the road like we do. If there's a dark cloud somewhere in the band, it's going to bring everybody down quickly. Apart from that, of course he puts his touch on his guitar playing as well. Him and Michael are both excellent guitar players, but they have very different styles, and that complements each other in a good way."

On whether the group has started writing material for its next album:

Daniel: "We don't write that much on the road, because it's not the right setting for us. Somebody might hum a melody into his iPhone, but we don't do much more than that. We have to consciously take time in the schedule when we plan ahead — 'Okay, these three months, we're going to work on new music. No shows then — we're going to stay off the road.' We have to plan, because nowadays, it feels like a year can disappear really quickly, especially when you're on the road and you're repeating a pattern. [When] you play shows every night, time just flies away, so you have to plan ahead... There will be [a new album] eventually, one day. We have done a little bit of writing, but I think we're still in the early stages of that. First of all, we need to get through this year. We have another tour in Europe with AMON AMARTH and HYPOCRISY, and that's going to take us up to about Christmas. But next year, we plan to get serious about new music and hopefully record a new album."

On the band's longevity:

Daniel: "We have the best fans. I'm really proud of our fans. I think we've been consistent. We haven't deviated from what is ARCH ENEMY a lot. We've stayed in the path pretty much all the time, in my opinion. Also, we got lucky. It's about timing as well. We came out in the '90s, and the '90s was really different from now — totally different. We've taken small steps with each album in popularity. We have never really exploded. We've incrementally grown a little bit, and I think that's very different from, for example, a pop artist. If you have a massive hit and you just explode, suddenly, you're the thing of the day, and two months later, maybe your fans have forgotten about you. What do I know? I'm a metal guy. [Laughs]"

ARCH ENEMY's latest album, "Will To Power", was released in 2017 via Century Media. Co-produced by Erlandsson and Amott, the record was mixed and mastered by longtime collaborator Jens Bogren (OPETH, AT THE GATES, DIMMU BORGIR).

SEBASTIAN BACH Says He Turned Down Support Slot On TOOL Tour

In a new interview with Forbes, former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach was asked if he finds the renewed interest in heavier music lately, especially artists from the '80s and '90s, to be a better atmosphere to release new solo music. He responded: "The first thing I would tell you is, I lived in Studio City [in Los Angeles] for two years recently. And I've moved since then, but my next-door neighbor was Adam Jones from TOOL. And we became super fucking close friends; nothing to do with music. His kids come over to my house to play. He comes to our birthday parties. He came to my 50th-birthday party, brought Danny from TOOL, and I'm really good friends with Adam. We bond over comic books. And believe it or not, I just recently had to turn down the opening slot for TOOL. Adam wanted Sebastian Bach to open two weeks of shows in arenas. But I was already booked. So that's mind-blowing to me."

He continued: "I think the success of bands like TOOL is just undeniable that people want to hear heavy fucking rock, and how can you deny that? It's right in your face. You also can't deny that what I do for a living is a completely dying art. There's not kids coming up, locking themselves in their room, doing vocal histrionics. I don't even know if that's a word. But the way I learned how to sing, I don't think kids even could ever — I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, maybe kids on 'American Idol' or something. But it just seems like so much of the vocal sound that I hear today is so over-processed and fake. That's why somebody like Adele comes out and people are, like, 'Oh my God.' And it's like, she's just singing with her voice. [Laughs] Nobody else is. That's why she's so good."

Earlier this year, Bach said that he was about to sign a new record deal for his upcoming solo album. The disc, which is not expected to arrive before mid-2020 at the earliest, will feature contributions from several well-known guitarists, including John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE, MARILYN MANSON), Steve Stevens (BILLY IDOL) and Orianthi (ALICE COOPER).

Last year, Bach told Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF 101.1 FM radio station that he would ink a deal with a U.S.-based heavy metal record label that would help him make a "career-defining" new solo album.

Bach hasn't released a full-length disc since "Give 'Em Hell", which came out in 2014. Like its predecessor, 2011's "Kicking & Screaming", the disc was released through Frontiers Music Srl, the Italian label which specializes in what's commonly called AOR, a term that once signified a popular radio format ("album-oriented rock") but nowadays applies to acts whose airplay is marginal.

Bach recently completed a U.S. tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of SKID ROW's self-titled debut album.

Exclusive: WITHIN NOSTALGIA Premieres “Death Lifes’ Lover” Video

From North Bay, Canada comes Within Nostalgia and their gritty video for the single “Death Lifes' Lover” off their recent release Conjuring A New Reality. Check out the video, premiered by BraveWords, below:

Cold and haunting, the video shows off the band’s flair for combining styles, with a diverse mix of sounds ranging from sadness to uplifting all the while staying powerful and unique. As a live fan favourite it was chosen as their second single and ultimately a video. Going into the particulars of the track is front woman and songwriter Alyssa Broere:

“With its catchy hook and thought-provoking lyrical concept, this one is always a favorite for us to play as well. Amongst the catchiness and melody, the bridge brings forth a death metal feel that segues back into the melody.”

Conjuring A New Reality was released on October 5 and was met with an overwhelming local response. Taking notes from bands such as Agalloch, Katatonia, and Fen; Within Nostalgia creates a bleak melodic soundscape filled with honest emotion and aggression. The band says about the album:

“Conjuring A New Reality as a whole covers much musical ground in terms of sound. Peaks and valleys emerge, evoking vast emotions. We want to create something that allows fans to expand their minds as well as think and feel life and all its highs and lows.”

Conjuring A New Reality is available on Bandcamp, Spotify, and Apple Music.

MÖTLEY CRÜE's VINCE NEIL Dismisses Reunion Rumors: I Haven't Spoken To The Other Guys Since 'The Dirt' Movie Premiere

MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil has blasted reports that tension between him and drummer Tommy Lee has kept the band from embarking on a reunion tour.

Over the weekend, RadarOnline.com published an article claiming that Neil and Lee were locked in a war of words as they allegedly bickered over who should go to rehab first.

RadarOnline.com wrote: "According to sources, the '80s hair band is set to cash in with a $150 million Live Nation tour — if heavyweight front man Neil drops 40 pounds and gets treatment. But insiders say the 58-year-old singer was infuriated by the promoters' slim-down demands — and insisted boozehound Lee needs is the one that needs to clean up his act! And that's not sitting well with Lee."

Neil has since taken to Twitter to quash the report. He wrote: "People these rumors are false. I haven't spoken to any band member's since movie premiere. I had to cancel shows due to back problems which I am getting treatment now. There is no tension between me and Tommy. Don't believe anything from These so-called gossip sites. Keep Rocking"

In 2015, MÖTLEY CRÜE completed "The Final Tour", closing the book on the band's iconic career after performing a total of 164 shows in 72 markets, grossing over $100 million.

To cement the sense of finality, the four members of MÖTLEY CRÜE in 2014 publicly signed a "cessation of touring" contract that prevents any of them from performing under the CRÜE name in the future.

After the members of MÖTLEY CRÜE reunited last year to record four new songs for the film adaptation of their 2001 autobiography "The Dirt", some fans assumed that the group would be open to the idea of playing together again at a special event to promote the movie. But bassist Nikki Sixx shot down the idea earlier this year, telling Rolling Stone: "Sometimes I look out at my friends, like the guys in AEROSMITH and METALLICA, and I'm, like, 'God damn it, did we retire too soon?' But there will be no one-offs in our future. Maybe we'll just get together and jam in [guitarist] Mick Mars's front room."

People these rumors are false. I haven’t spoken to any band member’s since movie premiere. I had to cancel shows due to back problems which I am getting treatment now. There is no tension between me and Tommy. Don’t believe anything from These so-called gossip sites. Keep Rocking

SNAKEYES To Release New Album In March; First Teaser Video Posted

SnakeyeS will release their new studio album, New World Order, in March 2020. The band, started by José Pineda, Justi Bala, and Carlos Delgado (former members of the Spanish band Sphinx), together with Romanian singer Cosmin Aionita, have released a short teaser for a new song from the album, which can be found below. Additionally, the band have launched their new official website, snakeyes-metal.com.

The new album tracklisting, cover artwork, a series of “making of” videos, as well as the first concert dates for the upcoming tour will be revealed in the weeks to come. The new record has been produced, mixed, and mastered by José Pineda, also responsible for the band’s previous studio albums.

Here’s what producer and bass player José Pineda had to say about the teaser and new album: “The New World Order teaser is just a small sample we selected in order to introduce our fans to how SnakeyeS’ third studio album will sound like. A small showing reflecting our desire to consolidate the style we developed so far, and a very short sample of what promises to be a pure Heavy Metal record, with the added novelty that, for the first time in the band’s history, all the lyrics will revolve around the same base concept."

"The Evil Dead", the first single off SnakeyeS’ third album, will be released before the end of this year along with a lyric video. Stay tuned for updates.

THE MURDER OF MY SWEET Streaming New Song "Head Of The Snake"

Frontiers Music Srl recently announced the release of The Murder Of My Sweet's fifth studio album, Brave Tin World, on December 6. The song "Head Of The Snake" is available for streaming below. You can pre-order the album here.

Brave Tin World is yet another fantastic album where the band delivers a fine slice of cinematic/symphonic metal. Often compared to musical giants such as Within Temptation, Nemesea, and Delain, The Murder Of My Sweet are Sweden’s significant answer to those revered Dutch acts.

Musically, the band’s new album follows the path of their previous record, Beth Out Of Hell, with a more straight-ahead songwriting approach, while still offering the symphonic and cinematic elements the band is now well-known for. Brave Tin World showcases a Nordic sound that the members of the band grew up listening to and lyrically takes on issues in tune with our modern day life.

"It's a more relaxed and mature album,” says producer and drummer Daniel Flores. "We're currently in transition with our songwriting, trying to bring out our identity instead of our chops. Sonically, we've taken a step further too, concentrating on more details than before."

Debuting with the first single, “Tin Soldiers”, the band is truly stronger than ever. "The song seems like it's been growing in our heads for the past ten years. We just didn't know how to communicate it properly until now. It's sort of an adventure about a mature topic that is unfortunately still very much of an issue these days,” says singer Angelica Rylin.

With Angelica Rylin carrying the vocals with her smooth, powerful voice, the wall of sound supporting the vocals is provided by Christopher Vetter on guitar, Patrik Janson on bass, and Daniel Flores on drums and keyboards. It’s easy to close your eyes while listening to The Murder Of My Sweet and imagine you are listening to a movie soundtrack. It has that musical film production value that makes movies feel bigger than life, but translated to music.

"This album has something we've never accomplished before,” concludes Daniel Flores. "It's a perfect balance between heavy and light and the immersion is so substantial no one will be able to deny it."

The Murder Of My Sweet’s aim is to create a distorted film noir vibe and experience by putting the wonder, sadness, humour and sheer zest of life into their music. By playing it to the point where the drama explodes, the music and the words become the utmost expression of the direct and ecstatic pure joy of being. The Murder Of My Sweet have arrived again with an unforgettable thrill of a lifetime album. Whatever you do, don’t miss the show.

Tracklisting:

"Tin Soldiers"
"My Religion"
"Head Of The Snake"
"Reasons To Live"

CULT OF LUNA Release "A Dawn To Fear" Short Film

Cult Of Luna have released a short film for "A Dawn To Fear", the title track of their new album, and the band's first material under their sole name since 2013's Vertikal 1&2. Order the new record at MetalBlade.com.

The narrative for the 'A Dawn To Fear' short film was written as a continuous story spread out over two songs ('Lay Your Head to Rest' and 'The Silent Man'). Because of the hard work that was put in by numerous people it deserves to be viewed in it’s intended form. That is why I’m excited that it’s finally available as the 18 min. piece it was written as." - Johannes Persson

Building on 20 years of creating some of the most epic, emotive and inventive heavy music unleashed on the world, there is no denying that Cult Of Luna's A Dawn To Fear is a monster of a record. An album comprised of eight tracks running 79 minutes, it embodies everything the band's faithful have come to expect from them while covering new ground. "Going into the process, we knew the album we wanted to make, an antithesis of what we've done before," says vocalist/guitarist and lead songwriter Johannes Persson. "For pretty much every album there's been a very concrete theme. We've known from the start the kind of story we wanted to tell, and I didn't want that to be the case. I've seen a lot of subtle changes and patterns in my own behavior and my own thinking the last couple of years, and I wanted this to be a completely spontaneous process. I just wanted to see what came out of me, and A Dawn To Fear is the result of that."

Admitting he is perhaps still too close to the record to objectively describe the sound of A Dawn To Fear, Persson believes that it has a more organic feel to it, largely achieved through the use of organs and other acoustic instruments in place of electronic keyboards, and that it is perhaps a more melancholic collection. It is also arguably heavier than their last full-length, 2013's Vertikal and their 2016 collaboration with Julie Christmas, Mariner, both in terms of the sheer density of the music and its tone. When it came to tracking the album, the band opted to work at Ocean Sound Recordings in Norway, which, as the name suggests, is located right by the coast, far from the nearest town. For eleven days the band lived at the studio, and enjoyed the process of constructing the record. With the finished product running to the length of a double CD, there was some discussion of cutting a track, but this did not get far. "We sat down and looked at that song list and we couldn't. It would make it easier for us and everyone involved to cut one song, making it no problem when it comes to LPs and CDs, but we just couldn't see the album any other way. These songs are the songs that make sense. If we cut this song or that song, it would screw up the whole dynamic of the record."

Tracklisting:

“The Silent Man”
“Lay Your Head To Rest”
“A Dawn To Fear”
“Nightwalkers”
“Lights On The Hill”
“We Feel The End”
“Inland Rain”
“The Fall”

THE DEAD DAISIES In The Studio: Video Recap Of First Week

THE DEAD DAISIES — the hard rock "collective" founded by Australian musician and businessman David Lowy — has entered La Fabrique Studios in the south of France to record its as-yet-untitled new album.

A video recap of the first week in the studio can be seen below.

This past August, THE DEAD DAISIES released "Righteous Days", the band's first song to feature Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION), who joined the group earlier in the year as its new bassist and vocalist, replacing John Corabi (MÖTLEY CRÜE) and Marco Mendoza (THIN LIZZY).

A statement on the group's web site elaborated on the lineup change. "THE DEAD DAISIES are a musical collective whose members come together through a common love for great rock music," the post reads. "It's a living, breathing, musical organism with the credo, 'Rock is indeed alive & well!' From the band's inception, the idea was for members to bring their own ideas to the table but also have the flexibility to come and go when working on their other projects. Both John and Marco are, and always will be, a part of THE DEAD DAISIES musical family, but at this point in time they have decided to do some work on their own solo projects."

THE DEAD DAISIES — Lowy, Hughes, guitarist Doug Aldrich (WHITESNAKE, DIO) and drummer Deen Castronovo (JOURNEY, BAD ENGLISH) — recently recorded "Righteous Days" and an undisclosed number of other songs at Los Angeles's Sunset Sound studio for a new album expected to be released in 2020. It will serve as the follow-up to the group's fourth full-length release, 2018's "Burn It Down".

According to Wikipedia, since the band's formation in 2012, THE DEAD DAISIES has featured two dozen different members (including "session" players and "temporary substitutes"), including drummer Brian Tichy (FOREIGNER, WHITESNAKE), GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Richard Fortus and GN'R keyboardist Dizzy Reed. The group has toured with the likes of AEROSMITH, KISS and BLACK STAR RIDERS.

Known as the "voice of rock," the 68-year-old Hughes is best known for fronting the Mk. III and Mk. IV lineups of DEEP PURPLE in the mid-1970s and for singing on BLACK SABBATH's 1986 album "Seventh Star". He was replaced by Ray Gillen after only six live performances with the band.

In 2009, Hughes formed BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION with blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa, keyboardist Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER, SONS OF APOLLO) and drummer Jason Bonham (BONHAM, FOREIGNER). Hughes recently told Midlands Metalheads Radio that the group will reunite to record its fifth album in January of 2021.

DOWN Confirms First Show Of 2020

DOWN has been confirmed for next year's edition of the Graspop Metal Meeting festival, set to take place June 18-21, 2020 in Dessel, Belgium.

The announcement of DOWN's participation in the event comes less than a month after singer Philip Anselmo revealed that DOWN was planning to reunite in 2020 for some shows in celebration of the 25th anniversary celebration of the band's classic debut album.

"We do have the 20th [sic] anniversary of 'NOLA' coming up, and I know that we have been offered some shows," Anselmo told Metal Nexus the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky. "And that's all I know. Pepper's [Keenan] still on tour [with CORROSION OF CONFORMITY]. CROWBAR's always on tour. And EYEHATEGOD, they're on tour for a long time. So, people ask me about it all the time."

Anselmo's response appeared to once again suggest that DOWN's lineup for a hypothetical "NOLA" 25th-anniversary tour would feature guitarist Kirk Windstein. A founding member of DOWN, Windstein left the band in 2013 in order to focus on CROWBAR and his family life. He was replaced by Bobby Landgraf, DOWN's former guitar tech who was previously in GAHDZILLA MOTOR COMPANY, a 1990s outfit also featuring Jason McMaster (DANGEROUS TOYS, WATCHTOWER), and HONKY.

DOWN was forced to cancel a number of shows in 2016 after Anselmo was filmed giving a Nazi salute and shouting "white power" at a California concert.

Keenan later offered his take on what transpired, telling Metal Wani that DOWN was "far from done" after the controversial incident. "You know, DOWN didn't do anything wrong," he said. "I mean, we were just guilty by association on that one. That was Phil's mistake. I've spoken to Phil and told him to get his shit together, and he is. He knows he made a mistake and was being stupid."

He continued: "I've known the guy [most of my life]. He's not what that whole thing framed him to be at all. But, yeah, there's definitely a future for DOWN. I wouldn't throw all the shit we've done, beautiful music we've done on one stupid moment that was caught on camera, and he apologized for. [So we are] far from done."

DOWN's last live appearance took place in August 2016 at the Psycho Las Vegas festival in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The band's latest release was the "Down IV - Part Two" EP, which came out in May 2014.

DOWN has not released a full-length album since 2007's "Down III: Over the Under".

1995's "NOLA" was largely credited with introducing the sound of underground New Orleans metal — "slow, super-heavy, doomsday guitar riffs stamped with Anselmo's trademark bellow," as described by NOLA.com — to a worldwide audience. The band has released albums and toured only intermittently, as its members all perform with other projects.

ROLLINS BAND / DAVID BOWIE Guitarist CHRIS HASKETT To Release Insufficient Necessities EP This Friday

Chris Haskett is a Grammy-nominated American guitar player mainly known for his time in the Rollins Band in the 1980s and 90s. After eight albums, Chris is releasing an instrumental EP of original tunes, Insufficient Necessities, primarily featuring his European band (Mike Baker of DC go-go band Rare Essence does bass duties on the opening song “Going Back”) on November 15. Order via here, iTunes, Amazon etc.

The emphasis is decidedly on funk with nods to Chris's hometown go-go scene as well as New Orleans second-line grooves.

As on his other releases, Chris looks to strike a fragile balance of technique, tonal color and letting “interesting accidents” find their way in to the music. He wears his influences on his sleeve, and echoes of Beck, Ribot and Richard Thompson all peek through at various points. As he says himself, “I think I like things to teeter between being fluidly funky and a little fractured too.I'm hard to categorize because I straddle a kind of venn diagram/middle ground where hard rock meets downtown avant garde (with a little bit of 'Dark Star' sprinkled on top).”

The recordings are a mix of both studio and concert multi-track recordings re-edited and overdubbed, sometimes in the studio and sometimes in the concert venue. The four originals on this EP are part of a much larger batch of recordings. The rest, an eclectic collection of covers, are due for release in 2020.

Most of Chris's early life was spent in Washington DC though, by chance, he was living in the UK just as punk was breaking in 1977. The rule-breaking freedom offered by punk had a profound influence on him and remained with him on his return to the US in 1978. His first band, the Enzymes, synthesized diverse influences from both the early punk/no-wave scene as well as the avant-garde and free jazz musics of the time. This overlap of influences reluctance to be pigeonholed has been a constant throughout his career.

Moving back to England in 1980 brought him into collaborations with the Birthday Party's Rowland S. Howard and for Public Image bassist Jah Wobble. It was also during this time that he reestablished contact with old DC friend Henry Rollins who was then singing in Black Flag. When Black Flag broke up in 1986, Rollins immediately suggested they do a project together. The result was the genesis of the Rollins Band. Over the following ten years, the band became known for uniquely powerful, uncompromising hard rock that spanned and yet stood apart from both the grunge and metal scenes of the era. After ten albums, a Grammy nomination and nearly a thousand concerts across the globe, the band members decided to part ways in 1997.

Even in the midst of the Rollins Band's punishing schedule Chris found time for instrumental side projects. In 1995 he released Language, a mix of angular acoustic guitar pieces and musique concrête that also featured duets with Rowland S Howard. 1997's Non-Fiction was a collaboration with Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers drummer Brandon Finley. This electric guitar album incorporated DC's signature go-go beats alongside a clear influence of both Zappa and Sonny Sharrock. The subsequent releases, Not Part of the Solution (2002), The Return of the Geary Act (2004), Maybe Definitely (2012), Gravity:Left/Right (2013), The Courage Born of Conflicting Terrors (2014) and last year's Comprovisations in Linear B, all defy easy categorization but share a distinctive musical sensibility: funky, angular, lyrical and unpredictable.

In 1999 Chris was hired by David Bowie who said he was looking forward to Chris's “nose bleedingly hostile” guitar to complement Reeves Gabrels for an upcoming tour. The planned tour got sidelined but Chris can be heard alongside Reeves on Bowie's Hours album.

Aside from numerous concerts fronting his own bands in the US, Europe and Australia, some of Chris's other touring and performance credits include Steven Brown (Tuxedomoon), The Cassandra Complex, Elliott Sharp, Reeves Gabrels, Pigface, Chris D (Divine Horsemen), Utah Saints, and Foetus.. More recently he has been invited as onstage to perform with Helmet as well as MC50.

Chris divides his time between the US, Europe and Australia and is currently working on a percussion-heavy psychedelic live band.

“I first heard Chris Haskett with the Rollins Band, surely one of the most powerful of late 80s bands, and was instantly struck by the intelligence driving the molten guitar tone. What a pleasure to come to know his wide-ranging solo works, spanning the gamut from fun and impressively detailed electric workouts to truly thought-provoking and meditative acoustic compositions. Chris makes guitar music anyone can feel good about obsessing over.” - Mike Keneally

“Chris Haskett !!!!! Love the mans work all the way from Henry Rollins to the present.” - DeWayne Blackbyrd McKnight

“Chris is a gifted musician and guitarist who should be followed as the music he is involved with is real and engaging.” – Paul Reed Smith

“He’s always seemed to effortlessly cross genres with an authenticity and honesty that few are able to match, even in one genre. From punk to jazz, experimental to funk, he brilliantly manages to weave everything together on his albums. He’s like the perfect marriage of Snakefinger and Jeff Beck and a little Ornette Coleman.” - Rich Fortus

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's IVAN MOODY On Upcoming LP: 'This Album Has Not Been F**king Easy To Make'

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH frontman Ivan Moody spoke to Metal Hammer magazine about the band's upcoming album, tentatively due in early 2020. The LP is being helmed by the band's regular producer, Kevin Churko, in FIVE FINGER's hometown of Las Vegas.

Moody, who is the group's primary lyricist, said: "This album has not been fucking easy to make. There was always somebody fucking quitting. Somebody wants to fire another guy, somebody's unhappy with someone's lifestyle. These things happen on a daily basis."

He added: "If there weren't bumps in the road, it would have been a shit record because that's complacency and that's settling."

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH recently released a teaser for a new single called "Inside Out", and Moody told Metal Hammer that the track "pretty much encompasses everything" since he embraced sobriety after his much-publicized struggles with addiction.

"This is the first piece of music I've written since all this happened," he said. "So all these emotions, I finally get to put them out in a therapeutic way. It's about alcoholism. It's about my family leaving. It's about my bandmates. It's about looking at myself in the fucking face and saying, 'Dude, you're going to have to do this because nobody else is coming.'"

Earlier this year, Moody, who celebrated his first year of sobriety this past March, credited several of his friends and musical peers with helping him get through some of his darker moments, including JUDAS PRIEST's Rob Halford and KORN's Jonathan Davis.

A year and a half ago, Moody told the Green Bay radio station Razor 94.7 that he nearly died due to an alcohol-related seizure and woke up surrounded by EMTs and his daughter holding him while crying. He also admitted that he went to rehab five times before the last time finally stuck.

Moody revealed that he was sober but massively hung over during his onstage meltdown in Europe in 2017, with the band sending him home after that and later welcoming him back on a "probationary" basis after both Phil Labonte from ALL THAT REMAINS and Tommy Vext from BAD WOLVES filled in on a couple of tours.

According to Ivan, his battles with alcohol abuse also heavily inspired the lyrics on FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's most recent album, "And Justice For None".

The drums on FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's forthcoming eighth LP were laid down by Charlie "The Engine" Engen, who made his live debut with the group during its fall 2018 tour with BREAKING BENJAMIN. He stepped in for original drummer Jeremy Spencer, who left the band in December due to a back injury.

THE BLACK CROWES Play First Reunion Concert In New York City: Video, Setlist

THE BLACK CROWES played their first reunion show last night (Monday, November 11) at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City. The concert took place just hours after brothers Chris and Rich Robinson announced a 46-date 2020 tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of THE BLACK CROWES' classic debut album, 1990's "Shake Your Money Maker".

Joining Chris and Rich in the new BLACK CROWES lineup are EARTHLESS guitarist Isaiah Mitchell, former TEDESCHI TRUCKS BAND bassist Tim Lefebvre along with ONCE AND FUTURE BAND members Joel Robinow on keyboards and Raj Ojha on drums.

The 60-minute Bowery Ballroom concert in front of a 600-strong crowd saw THE BLACK CROWES perform only the songs from the band's debut, along with the encore cover version of THE ROLLING STONES' "It's Only Rock 'N Roll (But I Like It)".

The setlist was as follows:

01. Twice As Hard

02. Jealous Again

03. Sister Luck

04. Could I've Been So Blind

05. Seeing Things

06. Hard To Handle

07. Thick N' Thin

08. She Talks To Angels

09. Struttin' Blues

10. Stare It Cold

11. It's Only Rock 'N Roll (But I Like It)

Regarding the decision to enlist all-new members for THE BLACK CROWES' reunion, Chris told Rolling Stone: "That was the first thing Rich and I agreed on. We don't want anyone from the solo groups. We don't want anyone from the past." Rich added: "In order to make this work. To give Chris and I the space to…" Chris interjected: "Be here right now."

THE BLACK CROWES' upcoming tour will mark Chris and Rich's first shows together since 2013. The group will perform its multi-platinum 1990 debut album in its entirety, along with a smattering of other hits and favorites.

THE BLACK CROWES will take the stage on Thursday (November 14) at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, California. The official tour kicks off properly on June 17 at Austin's Austin360 Amphitheater in Austin wraps on September 19 at the Forum in L.A.

Chris told Rolling Stone the new tour will hearken back to THE BLACK CROWES' original style, explaining: "I think this is pure. We went off into a lot of things. There's no jamming. There's no extraneous stuff. This is the purest BLACK CROWES that people first [heard]. I hope we reconnect with some people who lost their way with us because of all of our other shit we were doing."

Rich spoke frankly about the obvious family politics in reuniting with his older brother, saying "No one is here to be a dick. We love this music. We're musicians. We're brothers. We love each other. We love this opportunity. Changing the context with Chris and I and all new people is a much healthier place for us."

JASTA To Release 'The Lost Chapters - Volume 2' In December

The name "Jamey Jasta" represents one of music's most prolific and powerful reputations. As the founder and frontman for Grammy-nominated monoliths HATEBREED alongside his countless collaborations with everyone from DJ Khaled and Lights to FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, Jasta's reputation extends well beyond music. From stints as the four-year host of MTV's "Headbanger's Ball" to his own popular podcast, the 2016-launched "The Jasta Show", he has become synonymous with both heavy music and hardcore culture.

Jasta will drop the new solo album "The Lost Chapters - Volume 2" on December 13.

To herald the arrival of this unique, fully collaborative release, Jasta has shared not one, but two tracks — "When The Contagion Is You", featuring TRIVIUM's Matthew K. Heafy and currently generating airplay on SiriusXM's Octane, and "Strength To Draw The Line", a call-to-arms ripper featuring KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's Jesse Leach in peak form.

Both tracks are available now across all digital platforms.

The album also includes additional guest appearances from Max Cavalera (SOULFLY), Howard Jones (LIGHT THE TORCH), George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher (CANNIBAL CORPSE), Kirk Windstein (CROWBAR, KINGDOM OF SORROW), and many more.

This new material is the first all-new music from Jasta since the release of HATEBREED's most recent album, "The Concrete Confessional", which spawned the band's biggest streaming hit to date, "Looking Down The Barrel of Today". Moreover, this new body of work stands as a unique release for the genre, given the entirely collaborative nature of guest vocalists and musicians that rotate throughout every song.

As Jasta explains: "It was overdue for another solo release since the last one had come out in 2017. The timing for new music is perfect. It was important to me for this new collection to have the compilation feel of the first one while maintaining its catchiness and dynamics."

"The Lost Chapters - Volume 2" track listing:

01. They Want Your Soul (Featuring George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher)

02. Return From War (Featuring Max Cavalera)

03. Strength To Draw The Line (Featuring Jesse Leach)

04. Cleansed By The Waves (Featuring Zoli Teglas)
