BON JOVI Releases New Song 'Unbroken' Honoring Veterans As Part Of Documentary 'To Be Of Service'

Grammy Award-winning band BON JOVI has released its latest song today, "Unbroken", which will be featured in the forthcoming documentary "To Be Of Service". Written by Jon Bon Jovi, and produced along with John Shanks, the song is a compelling anthem that shines a spotlight on the thousands of veterans living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The lyrics go deep into the soldier's point of view to showcase the daily battle that remains even when they return home. The track is available from Island Records. Over the next 12 months, BON JOVI and Island Records will donate 100% of net proceeds from the download of "Unbroken" to the Patriotic Service Dog Foundation.

"To Be Of Service" explores the remarkable life changes resulting from the introduction of trained service dogs into the lives of military veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The film is directed and produced by Academy Award-nominated director Josh Aronson, produced by Julie Sayres and executive-produced by Carolyn Clark Powers and Chuck Ortner. The film will have a theatrical release in New York on November 1 and Los Angeles on November 8, followed by a Netflix release on Veterans Day, November 11.

"This song is meant to honor America’s veterans and their service, but I also wanted to take an unflinching look at the reality of their daily lives and struggles," said Bon Jovi.

"To Be Of Service" explores the remarkable life changes resulting from the introduction of trained service dogs into the lives of military veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Many veterans' experience of returning home is wrought with depression and a wrenching disconnect from the world they once knew. Family, old friends and jobs seem foreign and the newly returned men and women struggle to function and return to a normal civilian life. Often the meds and therapy provided by the VA hasn't helped these veterans imprisoned by the wounds of trauma, and they suffer trying to handle even the most mundane of daily tasks. Then, for the lucky ones who are paired with a service dog, the unconditional love and support offered by these highly trained canines become the bedrock for them to re-engage with the outside world and to learn to feel again. In addition to providing constant companionship, these dogs help veterans navigate their fears. They help them sleep without night terrors, they support them as they face their daily challenges, and, over time, they restore their ability to feel safe, to be independent, to trust and to love again.

Ex-JOURNEY Singer STEVE PERRY Releases New Christmas Single, 'Silver Bells'

Former JOURNEY singer Steve Perry has released a stunning new version of the all-time Christmas classic "Silver Bells", available both digitally and on seven-inch vinyl, along with brand-new, special edition merchandise exclusively at Perry's online store. In addition, this holiday EP contains a newly remixed version of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", which Perry released last holiday season.

"Silver Bells", with vocals by Steve Perry, keys by Dallas Kruse and drums by Vinnie Colaiuta, was produced by Steve Perry and co-produced by Thom Flowers.

"The holidays are certainly a wonderful time of the year filled with many emotions," Perry said. "I'm very happy to share with you one of my favorite holiday songs, 'Silver Bells', but done with my love for R&B mixed in, along with a new remix of 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas'. I hope it brings a smile to you and yours in this holiday season!"

Perry's first solo album in more than two decades, "Traces", was released a little more than a year ago — on October 5, 2018 — via Fantasy Records (a division of Concord Records/UMG). He credited his late girlfriend, psychologist Kellie Nash, who died more than six years ago, with helping him want to sing again; she'd made him promise he wouldn't go back into isolation when she passed.

This past spring, Perry told "The Jim Brickman Show" that the response to "Traces" has been "really great. It's been an interesting experience to release a record in this age that we live in. Meaning, it's such a different landscape… Now we're streaming, now we've got everything… all this stuff. And so it's been such an interesting experience to release music into the new landscape of what it all means. We're streaming, we're still selling some on iTunes…. Nobody sells records anymore; everybody's streaming. But I didn't do this to sell records. If people wanna own it and take it with them, then that's beautiful. But if you wanna listen to it, that's also beautiful, 'cause all I wanted to do — and I said this to many of my friends… The reason I make music again was, number one, to keep a promise that I wouldn't go back into isolation. And number two, I wanted to just see if I was viable as a songwriter, singer, arranger, mixer, producer. I wanted to see if I could even remotely do some sort of creative involvement with all that. And in the beginning, it was challenging, because of the new technologies. But now I've embraced the living crap out of all of it. I have a great studio."

Perry dated Nash for nearly two years before she died in December 2012 after being diagnosed with breast cancer. He mourned for two years, and then began recording again.

Upon its release, "Traces" was met with wide acclaim and tremendous excitement from fans and critics all over the world. The album entered the Billboard 200 Albums chart at No. 6, Perry's highest debut as a solo artist and earned the Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer his best-ever chart entries in the U.K., Germany, Canada and Japan.

Perry reunited with JOURNEY for the first time in years as they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in April 2017. The iconic singer appeared onstage with his former bandmates as they each gave speeches, but did not perform with the group later in the event.

HALESTORM: Tenth-Anniversary Edition Of Debut Album To Arrive In December

HALESTORM will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the band's debut studio album by releasing "special package" on December 20. Released in 2009, the LP was produced by Howard Benson (MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, P.O.D.) and featured the single "I Get Off". The band went on to release three additional studio albums, becoming a mainstay on rock radio.

The tenth-anniversary vinyl edition of "Halestorm" will feature all-new artwork as well as pre-production demos and bonus material that tell the story of "how that first album came about and the struggles and wins and the things that happened through the music," according to guitarist Joe Hottinger.

Added HALESTORM frontwoman Lzzy Hale: "It's something special we wanted to show the fans, too. And all of these recordings, they're not redone, they're not remixed — they're literally exactly the way that we did them. It just shows — like Joe says — our journey.

"That whole time that we were in the process of making that first record, it shaped us in the best ways and the worst ways. But, truly, we just wanted to share that with you… It's been fun going through all the old stuff.

"I think that we learned, just by going through this packaging, going through all these things, that, really, ten years later, this latest album, 'Vicious', we got really close to the beginning again. So it feels like it's starting all over again — same feeling."

In a statement announcing the reissue of "Halestorm", Lzzy said: "We lived through a fire, a mudslide, an earthquake and 19 months in Burbank, California to make sure our debut album was released. To celebrate our 10th year anniversary of our debut album on Atlantic Records, we decided to include raw, never-before-heard demos and rejects, new art, and personal letter from me taking you through our rollercoaster ride. I hope you enjoy this special piece of HALESTORM history."

Earlier this year, Hottinger reflected on the last decade for HALESTORM, which saw the band emerge from the small Pennsylvania town of Red Lion. "It's a trip, man," he told Ned from Waterloo, Iowa radio station KFMW Rock 108. "It's the ten-year anniversary of our first record and we're putting together a special package for that first album right now. Lzzy and I just went through all these demos we made from 2005 to 2008 when we were making that first record. I had forgotten all about them. It's like hearing these songs for the first time again. They weren't terrible. There's a reason they didn't make the first record. The thing was there; the magic was there, that we fight for even today. I kind of realized that we're doing what we've always done. We're lucky. I get to do what I love with the people I love and travel the world doing it. What more could you ask for in a life? That's what we were doing back when we were playing bars around Pennsylvania. Just doing what we love with people we love. It was on a much smaller scale. But what a trip. I think we're going around the world twice this year. We end in Australia and Japan again before the end of the year. It's awesome. It's tiring, but awesome."

HALESTORM recently completed a tour with GODSMACK and is expected to begin work early in the new year on the follow-up to 2018's "Vicious" album. Hale has also alluded to working on a secret studio project this past summer but has given no further information.

KILL RITUAL Release New Single "Rest In Pain"; Lyric Video

San Francisco Bay Area metallers, Kill Ritual, are back with the new single, “Rest In Pain”, off their upcoming album, The Opaque And The Divine.

The CD, recorded at Sonic Train Studios and Fossil Sound by Andy La Rocque and Steven D. Rice, introduces new powerhouse vocalist Chalice to the fold. Guest appearances include Andy La Rocque (King Diamond), Joey Concepcion (Sanctuary, Armageddon) and Chris Lotesto (Ion Vein), so expect eight tracks that shift from all out pure metal to progressive tinged metal epics. Kill Ritual continue their evolution as a forward thinking traditional metal band.

Kill Ritual guitarist/founder Steven D. Rice comments; “The next chapter of Kill Ritual is totally logical as the band keeps moving forward. A bigger production, complex arrangements and huge riffs with progressive underlying tones are on the menu this time. My original concept of the band has always been big and we’ve gotten a little closer with this release. The huge scope of material and what it says about things in this present day are universal and the story is timeless. There’s no poor me, blame them, fight the power, hump the old lady, magic rock BS. It’s the classic Good vs. Evil story that will hold true forever. What’s changed? Nothing and it never will. Mankind will always destroy what he loves. The new track 'Rest In Pain' is Kill Ritual laying down some proper old school metal which actually sounds refreshing in this current metal climate of down tuned copycat over produced shit being being passed off as metal over and over again. From classic riffing to proper metal vocals the track is definitely a good indication of where the band is going in the future. Enjoy!”

The Opaque And The Divine tracklisting:

"Rest In Pain"
"Dead God"
"King Of Fools"
"World Gone Mad"
"Praise The Dead"
"The Veil Of The Betrayer"
"Touch The Dark"
"A Child To Die For Again"

“Rest In Pain” lyric video:

Kill Ritual:

Chalice: Vocals, squirrel whisper
Steven D. Rice: Guitars, Bass, Keyboards, Vocals, pan flute
Seamus Gleason: Drums, chaos, beer and vodka runs

DIRTY SHIRLEY Feat. GEORGE LYNCH And TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA Singer DINO JELUSICK: 'Here Comes The King' Video

Frontiers Music Srl recently announced the signing of DIRTY SHIRLEY, a new band project featuring guitarist George Lynch (THE END MACHINE, KXM, LYNCH MOB, ex-DOKKEN) and vocalist/keyboardist Dino Jelusick (ANIMAL DRIVE, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA).

DIRTY SHIRLEY's self-titled debut album will be released on January 24, 2020. The official music video for the disc's first single, "Here Comes The King", can be seen below.

Croatian singer Dino Jelusick, over the course of just one album and one covers EP released with his band ANIMAL DRIVE, has started to make quite the name for himself in the hard rock and metal scene. More than a few musicians of note have called up Dino to see if he might be interested in collaborating, which he is floored by. This talented young singer has an appreciation and deep respect for the musical heroes who preceded and profoundly influenced him. So, when George Lynch opened the doors to the idea of writing and producing a record together, Dino was more than intrigued. Frontiers, known for releasing interesting collaborations of this nature, was more than happy to be the label home for this project.

The resulting album and band, DIRTY SHIRLEY — named after one of the first songs they wrote together — covers a wide spectrum of styles. Classic metal to more "traditional" LYNCH MOB-oriented sounds and even some hints of the first BADLANDS album are in the mix. Showcasing a stunning performance from George Lynch — a seemingly bottomless pit of inspired and creative guitar playing — and an absolutely over the top lead vocal performance from Dino, DIRTY SHIRLEY is going to be an easy "must listen" for the hard rock and metal crowd. EVANESCENCE drummer Will Hunt rounds out the lineup.

Dino says: "This record was done differently from everything else I did so far. George jammed and sent me rough versions and I tried a thousand melodies and lyrics on it. It turned out fantastic and very versatile. From R&B and rock ballads to some very heavy tunes, bluesy stuff, hard rock, rock 'n' roll, grungy vibes... everything. Will was the perfect drummer for this, loud and groovy. I recorded vocals while being on tour with TSO in the bus, every evening when we had a day off. And finished it in Croatia. You gotta listen to the whole album to get the impression of it, not only singles. But the first single will surely kick your ass, so better be prepared!"

George adds: "At its core, this record is built on classic guitar riffage and grooves, but is also infused with eclectic tendencies scattered about that are unexpected and challenging. 80% of the guitar work on this record is rhythms, so I wanted to create a three-dimensional sonic tapestry that complimented the more basic riffs and chords. I tried to add a little twist to everything." He continues: "It was funny because when the label approached me about pairing up with Dino, for some reason I got the impression he was an Italian pop singer. LOL. So I wrote some songs in that vein, haha. ; ) Then when I heard what he was actually all about, I had to duck back into the laboratory and reinvent the wheel. If Ronnie James Dio and young Coverdale had a baby boy, his name would be Dino."

The band is currently exploring live show opportunities for 2020, so stay tuned for more news on DIRTY SHIRLEY.

DIRTY SHIRLEY recording lineup:

George Lynch: Guitars

Dino Jelusick: Vocals, Keyboards

Will Hunt: Drums

Trevor Roxx: Bass

Watch HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES Perform 'I Want My Now' On 'The Late Late Show With James Corden'

HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES were the musical guests on last night's (Thursday, October 31) episode of "The Late Late Show With James Corden". The band performed the song "I Want My Now", taken from the band's second album, "Rise".

HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES are built around the undeniable chemistry between rock and roll royalty Joe Perry, Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp and shock rock icon Alice Cooper.

"Rise" was released on June 21 on earMUSIC as a CD digipak, 2LP+download and digital. The disc was produced by Tommy Henriksen and the HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES.

Unlike HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES' 2015 debut record, "Rise" consists mainly of original material, written by the band. There are however, in the spirit of the VAMPIRES' original mission, three covers of songs originally written and recorded by some fellow rockers who died far too young: an intimate and intense version of "Heroes"; the JIM CARROLL BAND's "People Who Died" and Johnny Thunders's "You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory", sung by Perry.

Completing the HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES live lineup are rock star musician friends Glen Sobel (ALICE COOPER) on drums, Chris Wyse (THE CULT) on bass, and Buck Johnson (AEROSMITH) on keyboard and vocals.

Former SKID ROW And SAIGON KICK Drummer PHIL VARONE Is Working On Autobiographical Movie About His Career

Former SKID ROW and SAIGON KICK drummer Phil Varone is working on an autobiographical movie called "30 Yrs A Drummer". Slated for a March 2020 release, the film's official synopsis is as follows: "What do you want to be when you grow up? '30 Yrs A Drummer' is a feature-length film that documents the life and career of professional drummer Phil Varone. A career that has spanned over some three decades, until Phil's abrupt decision to hang up his drumsticks. What would make Phil retire from something he loved so dearly? This all-access look into the music business, rock stardom, and life as seen through Phil's eyes will answer that question and so much more.

"'30 Yrs A Drummer' is not just for drummers, or musicians. If you enjoy music you will love this film. If you enjoy entertainment, you will love this film. If you're curious to learn the real story behind the music business, you will love this film. '30 Yrs A Drummer' has been described as entertaining, educational, honest, ironic and profound. A must-see film for all, and one that will be talked about for years to come."

The 52-year-old rocker made his decision official to retire from drumming via a social media post back in March.

Varone told WRIF's Meltdown that he had been "thinking about" calling it quits with his drumming career "for a while. But because I did this record [RED DRAGON CARTEL's sophomore album, 'Patina'], I really wanted to tour the record. 'Cause I really, truly love this record, and it's my best drumming in my career. And working with Jake has been one of the greatest experiences, and I'm honored and grateful to work with a genius like him.

"I did a short couple of days with BULLETBOYS, which, that I did quit after two days, because the singer is the worst human on earth and just a pathetic sack of garbage," he continued. "It was a joke. The band draws 20 people and he screams and pisses and moans and tells everybody that he sold millions of records… So that kind of put the bad taste in my mouth. I'm, like, 'Is this what it's gonna be? A washed-up joke yelling every night, because only 20 people come, 'cause no one cares about him anymore?' And Jake wasn't like that. Jake is a professional. Jake is a true musician and a great, great human, unlike Marq [Torien]. So it was two different things.

"When I did the BULLETBOYS thing and I was driving home from it and I had my best friend in the car, I was, like, 'You know what? I don't know if I'm cut out for this,'" Varone added. "When I was 25, it was one thing. But I'm a [52]-year-old man. I have grown children that I wanna enjoy. I don't wanna do this. But because it was Jake and it was that record, I wanted to at least play. And the tour that was booked was short — it was five, six weeks; whatever it is — and I thought that would be a good amount of time to gauge if I really wanted to. And the minute we started rehearsing, things hurt. Drums are hard. We joke about it, but Neil Peart [RUSH] just retired, because he said, 'If I can't play to the caliber that I played when I was younger, I don't wanna play drums.' And that's how I kind of feel. 'Cause everything hurts. The tour is brutal. We happened to pick winter, which is the worst time to tour. Luckily, we have a tour bus, and the band is incredible. Between the band, this is the most fun I'm having. These guys are really great guys. We're having fun on the bus. There's no tension and weirdness. But it's all kind of wearing us out, 'cause we're older guys. Anthony [Esposito, bass] is from LYNCH MOB and Ace Frehley, and me with SAIGON KICK and SKID ROW, and, of course, Jake with Ozzy [Osbourne] — we're older guys. So it wears me out. And I have to say that I'm in pain. So when it comes down to drums, it's not that I hate drums — it's just that right now, it equates me with hurting and hassle. And I don't have the passion that I used to when I was a kid — I don't. 'Cause I've done it all already — I've done everything that I needed to do with drumming and music, and I'm pretty content."

Despite the fact that he is retiring from drumming, Phil said that he wanted people to understand that he was "leaving happy. I'm not angry," he said. "I'm truly leaving on my own terms and very happy and excited to the next level, which is writing. My words are everything. So, some of the fans are a little upset, which I understand, but it's 30 years — I've given you 30 years, with a catalog of music that I'm so very proud of and grateful to have been a part of. And now I'm gonna write. And I'm gonna give you something even more valuable, which is my words and very personal thoughts, and I'm hoping that people fall in love with that, because I'll write forever. I'll write till I die. But for drumming, I'm just not feeling it anymore. And that doesn't mean I'm not playing well. The shows are shredding. We're having a blast. I hurt, because I'm playing hard, because the fans deserve that. So they are never gonna get a show that doesn't have us going full blast. But those shows are a toll on us, and me personally. And it's kind of shocking. And that's another thing too — I'm not young anymore, so the realization of being old has kind of set in as well. And I think it's a good time."

Varone joined SKID ROW in 2000 — about four years after singer Sebastian Bach parted ways with the group. Four years later, Phil exited SKID ROW and the music business to pursue acting and stand-up comedy. During this time, he produced and starred in the feature-length documentary "Waking Up Dead", released in 2007. In recent years, Varone garnered worldwide attention on VH1's hit show "Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew" and "Strange Sex" on the Discovery channel. In April 2013, Riverdale Publishing released Phil's first book called "Un-Philtered : Real Life On and Off the Rock 'N' Roll Tour Bus".

JETHRO TULL Announces 'The Prog Years' 2020 Tour

Ian Anderson and the JETHRO TULL band, one of the world's most successful and enduring progressive rock acts, have announced that they will return to the road with "The Prog Years Tour 2020" with 11 dates across the U.K. in September and October.

This tour will draw heavily on material from JETHRO TULL's more "prog" albums, much of it focussing on the early "heavy hitters" of the TULL catalogue, classic albums including "Stand Up", "Benefit", "Aqualung", "Thick As A Brick", "Passion Play" and even a touch of "Thick As A Brick 2" from 2012.

From the outset, TULL's frontman Ian Anderson created the distinctive persona of the tousled flute-playing minstrel, balanced on one leg and playing music with an historical slant. JETHRO TULL continues to hold a unique place in the hearts of progressive music fans and these albums are the focus of that passion.

Ian says: "Dusting off many older 'progressive' songs amongst my earliest attempts to experiment outside the blues repertoire we began with has proved hugely enjoyable. Along the way, over the last 50 years, there have been a good few pieces that still strongly resonate with me today on either a musical or lyrical level. Hopefully both. Some are really tricky to play; some might sound that way but fall under the fingers quite naturally although the overall arrangements require feats of memory! Test my marbles; come to the party!"

Ian Anderson will be accompanied by TULL band musicians David Goodier (bass), John O'Hara (keyboards), guitarist Joe Parrish and Scott Hammond on drums. The show will be enhanced by full scale video projection.

Tour dates are:

Sep. 30 - Aylesbury The Waterside

Oct. 01 - Leicester De Montfort Hall

Oct. 03 - Blackburn St George’s Hall

Oct. 04 - Perth Concert Hall

Oct. 05 - Glasgow Pavilion Theatre

Oct. 06 - Stoke-On-Trent Victoria Hall

Oct. 08 - London Shepherd’s Bush Empire

Oct. 09 - Brighton Dome

Oct. 10 - Poole Lighthouse

Oct. 12 - Reading Hexagon

Oct. 13 - Bath The Forum

Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. on November 6.

Ian Anderson will also be appearing at a number of smaller venues for a more intimate evening of chat and archive video footage about his career and the history of JETHRO TULL. Ian will be accompanied by guitarist Joe Parrish to play a few songs. The audience will be invited to pose interesting and challenging questions.

Dates confirmed so far, with more to be added:

Apr. 20 - Yeovil Westlands

Apr. 21 - Bristol St George's

Apr. 22 - Cheltenham Town Hall

Tickets to go on sale in late November.

Anderson formed a blues and jazz fusion band in the mid-60s and the name changed frequently until an agent, with an interest in history, booked them as JETHRO TULL, and the name stuck. Ian took up the flute, as he felt he would never match Eric Clapton as a guitarist as and, with a coat purchased to keep out the cold in a draughty bedsit, the image of the tousled, flute-wielding minstrel was born.

TULL's debut album, "This Was", received favourable reviews and sold well upon its release in 1968. The commercial breakthough came the following year when "Living In The Past", with its unusual 5/4 time signature, reached number 11 in the singles chart and an appearance on "Top Of The Pops", performing the No. 4 hit "The Witch's Promise" brought TULL to a much wider audience.

Musically, an historical theme was developing which Anderson exploited as the creative force behind a series of critically acclaimed albums including "Stand Up", "Benefit", "Aqualung", "Thick As A Brick" and "Passion Play".

JETHRO TULL became one of the most distinctive and original bands to fall under the "progressive rock" umbrella and that still sets them apart as one of the best-loved bands of the genre.

Over 50 years on, Ian Anderson and JETHRO TULL continue perform some 70 to 100 shows each year around the world. Anderson's energy and enthusiasm for his music still makes JETHRO TULL concerts an experience to savor.

ACID REIGN Releases Video For Cover Version Of SUZANNE VEGA's 'Blood Makes Noise'

Reactivated U.K. thrashers ACID REIGN have released the official music video for their cover version of Suzanne Vega's "Blood Makes Noise". The track is taken from the band's first full-length album in 29 years, "The Age Of Entitlement", which came out on September 27 via Dissonance Productions.

Commented vocalist Howard "H" Smith: "Well, we really wanted to 'ACID REIGN' a cover version, but every time we came up with a song, at least one other person in the band would say it was crap. I mentioned 'Blood Makes Noise' to Paul [Chanter, guitar], and about two weeks later, I was driving to a gig and he messaged to say, 'I've sent you a demo,' and there it was, on my phone, so I was singing along with it in the car thinking, 'This is going to be brilliant.' I stuck the vocals on it, and all of a sudden, the argument over which cover version we should do disappeared! I e-mailed it to Suzanne Vega's management and also sent it to her Facebook page along with a note saying, 'Look, I've been a big fan since back in the day, I actually ripped off one of your lyrics on our album 'The Fear' (and no, I'm not saying which one) and this is a homage, our version of your song done with love and respect. Hope you like it.' About two weeks went by, and I'd just got home from a comedy gig [Howard has a stand-up alter ego called Keith Platt, Professional Yorkshireman] when my phone vibrated and there was a conversation waiting to be had on Facebook messenger. I didn't know who it was so I answered, and it was Suzanne Vega and the first line of the message — because I'd said 'hope you like it' — was, in capitals, 'I LOVE IT.' And, in fact, I've actually got a screenshot of the conversation framed in my front room. It says, 'I love it. I want to copy the link and share it with my team. Here's my email. She gave me her personal e-mail address. 'Please send me an mp3.' So I replied, 'Yes, you'll have it in a few minutes'. Then she said, 'Puts me in a really great mood, I must say. Thanks for this.' It was absolutely brilliant."

He added: "I've been a fan of Suzanne's for over 30 years and so to not only have her approval but to have her on the song is just amazing.

"Clearly it is our own unique take on it, and hopefully Suzanne's fans and our fans will both discover some cool back catalogue on both sides."

Said Vega: "ACID REIGN has done a super cool cover of 'Blood Makes Noise'! Check it out."

SLIPKNOT To Headline Wacken Open Air 2020

Midnight, the witching hour – even more so in the final night of October to the 1st of November, when according to the popular American Halloween tradition all sorts of ghosts, vampires, and other nocturnal creatures are roaming around in seach of sweets and other treats.

There is no better time to announce a true metal monster for the upcoming 31st edition of the Wacken Open Air: Slipknot!

The mask wearing metal maniacs from Des Moines, Iowa have not just evolved into massive chart strikers since their foundation in 1995, but have also earned a justified reputation as a most impressive live act. Anyone who has witnessed the 9-piece band fronted by exceptional vocalist Corey Taylor on stage knows  which enormous power their unique baselball bad wielding brand of modern metal can achieve live. Almost one year after the American headliners released their current album We Are Not Your Kind, Slipknot will enter the mainstage at the Wacken Open Air – for the first time ever at this festival.

Festival co-founder and organiserThomas Jensen comments: "We are thrilled and admittedly a little proud that one of our great musical dreams will finally come true next year, when Slipknot will be on stage for the first time at the Wacken Open Air. We are also glad for this opportunity to state once again that being sold out is never a reason for us to stop working on delivering a great billing. We would like to thank our fans for their continued trust and hope that this announcement will be as great for them as it is for us."

The Wacken Open Air has confirmed the following bands for the coming 31st edition of the festival in 2020: Slipknot, Judas Priest, Amon Amarth, Mercyful Fate, At The Gates, Venom, Hypocrisy, Sodom, Dirkschneider, Annihilator, Death Angel, Overkill, Sick Of It All, U.D.O., Beast In Black, Kampfar, Nervosa, While She Sleeps, Orden Ogan, Cemican.

Cannabis Corpse’s latest strain of weed-metal is another potent dose of bong ripping brutality laced with tasty riffs, vicious drumming, and dank THC. With a title inspired by Cryptopsy's seminal album, Nug So Vile is a horrifying look into the mind of a hardcore marijuana abuser with the demented fantasies of a reefer addict fully on display. The record is more than just a mere follow up to 2017’s Left Hand Pass, but rather serves as a solid companion piece, seamlessly picking up right where the band left off.

Sharing a passion for marijuana and death metal, brothers Phil “Landphil” Hall and Josh “Hallhammer” Hall formed Cannabis Corpse in 2006 in Richmond, VA as a loving homage to the genre’s forefathers. The brothers decided from the start to separate themselves from the pack by infusing a green sense of humor into their horror-inspired lyrics. Meanwhile, it has become a badge of honor for many of the Halls’ idols to have one of their titles parodied by the Richmond outfit.

Now, Cannabis Corpse has returned as a three-piece and despite slimming the lineup down since Left Hand Pass, Nug So Vile still sounds as full and thick as ever, solidifying their place among death metal’s elite. So, roll a blunt, grab a neckbrace, and get prepare yourself for another nasty assault from the kings of weed metal.

Lineup:

Phil "Landphil" Hall: vocals, bass
Josh "HallHammer" Hall: drums
Adam Gulliams: guitars

PRETTY MAIDS Streaming Title Track Of Upcoming Undress Your Madness Album

"Undress Your Madness", the title track of Pretty Maids’ upcoming new album, is available for streaming below.

Undress Your Madness shows Pretty Maids are still in the freshest and most vital phase of their career since the early '90’s. The album is set for release on November 8 via Frontiers Music Srl. Pre-order CD/LP/digital here. Fans can pre-order limited edition, 180g, gatefold, silver color vinyl and t-shirt bundles from Frontiers' webstores here.

"I think the new album is a kind of continuation of what we’ve done the past ten years,” says singer Ronnie Atkins. "I’m really happy about the way it turned out 'cause there’s a lot of good songs on it in my humble opinion and it’s probably even more melodic than our previous efforts.”

The production, as always, is absolutely stellar thanks to Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe, Kobara And The Lotus), who has given the band a sound that not only reinvigorates them, but also incorporates the beloved soundscapes of the past. Modern and classic at the same time, if you will.

"It’s just a match made in heaven I think. There’s a great chemistry between us, we share the same humor and thoughts about what a good song is, so there’s a lot in common,” continues Ronnie. "Quite simply the most gentle and easy going guy I've ever worked with.”

What can then be said about Ronnie Atkins and Ken Hammer? One of the best songwriting teams in the genre, hands down. Atkins' voice just gets better and better as the years go by. Menacing and vicious one minute, melodic and soothing the next. Likewise, Hammer is on fire here and lays down some of his heaviest riffs in recent memory. Rene Shades' bass playing is as thunderous as ever, propelling the incredible rhythms of the songs along with the superb drumming of Allan Sørensen, who's playing matches perfectly with what each song calls for. Chris Laney's keyboards add a wonderful texture and nuance to these brilliant compositions, tying everything together in the perfect package.

Every track on this beauty is worthy of your attention, whether it is an in-your-face barn burner such as the storming opener “Serpentine,” the title track, and “Black Thunder” or timeless melodic metal anthems such as “Firesoul Fly" and “Will You Still Kiss Me (If I See You In Heaven)”, or even a superb power ballad like “Shadowlands”.

“The album was written in a very short period of time,” tells Ronnie Atkins. “Basically it was written in January, just prior to recording it in February this year. So everything was very fresh when we entered the studio, in fact, so fresh that some of the songs were hardly finished when we started, but it all fell into place as we preceded with the recordings.”

The final result is Undress Your Madness, a record that has everything that Pretty Maids fans could possibly ask for.

Tracklisting:

"Intro"
"Serpentine"
"Firesoul Fly"
"Undress Your Madness"
"Will You Still Kiss Me (If I See You In Heaven)"
"Runaway World"
"If You Want Peace (Prepare For War)"
"Slavedriver"
"Shadowlands"
"Black Thunder"
"Strength Of A Rose"

BRUCE KULICK Joins KISS For 'She' Acoustic Performance Aboard 'KISS Kruise IX' (Video)

Ex-KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick rejoined his bandmates aboard "Kiss Kruise IX" this week to perform an acoustic version of "She" in the round. Check out video footage below.

In 1984, Bruce joined KISS, where he remained as their lead guitarist for more than a decade, accompanying the band on the "Animalize" tour and continuing with the band until the 1996 reunion tour. Bruce is heavily featured on "Kissology – Vol. 2" and "Vol. 3", the band's DVDs spanning their historic 40-year career.

Two years ago, Kulick revealed that he had to take band politics into account when pitching a song to Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley during his 12 years in the band.

Speaking to Hot Metal, the 65-year-old said he could never play a song idea for both Simmons and Stanley — he had to chose which one would give him the best chance of success.

"During my years with KISS, it was always a challenge to make Gene or Paul really zone in and say, 'I wanna work on that,'" Kulick said. "Then the issue with them was, if you played something for Gene, you can't play it for Paul. You know what I mean? It was like you had to pick and choose your battles and everything.

"Anyway, that was always like an interesting dynamic but understandable. Groups are very much like that. Just like within a family you know, you can tell one brother one thing but you wouldn't mention that to the other ... your sister or whatever."

During the extensive chat, Kulick also discussed going out socially with Paul Stanley years before joining the band — because brother Bob Kulick was a friend of the Starchild.

"Paul was a huge rock star living like a king in New York City," Bruce recalled. "Bob would go, 'Come on along, let's go', we were in Queens we'd hang out, 'We're going to the movies with Paul Stanley,' and everyone was like, 'Wow, that's kind of cool.'

"That was kind of weird. I'm not saying I really got to know him well. You know when you have that level of fame, you're very carefully with your circle of people you hang with. But that helped when Paul realized, 'You know, I'm hearing good things about Bruce, not only from Bob, from other musicians in L.A.' That's how I really got my start, so I'm grateful to my brother obviously for the introduction but the rest was all my own."

"Decades: Live In Buenos Aires" was captured by 19 cameras on that extraordinary night in Argentina. NIGHTWISH came out to the rousing "End Of All Hope" and took its final bow to the unmatched epic "Ghost Love Score". In between saw a set filled with pure trailblazing glory — incorporating distinguished tracks "Wish I Had An Angel", "Sacrament Of Wilderness", "Elvenpath", "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean", "Dead Boy's Poem" and many more.

"I didn't just want to pick out the most successful NIGHTWISH songs for this tour," keyboardist and main songwriter Tuomas Holopainen explains. "Instead, I asked myself which songs I would play to somebody who had never heard of our band. At some point during the preparation process, I realized that I was smiling all the time. I remembered the curious, innocent boy writing all of these songs."

The "Decades" tour ran from March 9, 2018 to December 15, 2018 and consisted of stops in 82 cities across Europe, North America and South America.

Tentatively due in the spring, NIGHTWISH's next album will mark the band's second full-length release with singer Floor Jansen, who has been touring with the group since 2012.

Holopainen said last year that the arranging and recording process for NIGHTWISH's follow-up to 2015's "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" album would take most of 2019.

Tuomas also said that there is a lyrical theme tying together all the songs he has written for NIGHTWISH's next record, but he declined to elaborate.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Announces 2020 Reunion Shows

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE will reunite for a number of shows in early 2020, including an appearance at next year's Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival.

So far, the following dates have been announced:

Mar. 26 - El Paso, TX

Mar. 28 - Las Cruces, NM⠀⠀⠀

Mar. 30 - Phoenix, AZ⠀

Apr. 10 - Indio, CA (Coachella)⠀⠀⠀⠀

Apr. 17 - Indio, CA (Coachella)

The news of the reunion broke early this morning when an Instagram account with the handle "rageagainstthemachine" shared a list of 2020 dates. According to Forbes, "Wayne Kamemoto, a longtime associate of the band, just said, 'The band's social media is accurate.'"

It should be noted that none of the members of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE have addressed the reunion reports yet, but actress/musician Juliette Lewis, who is in a relationship with RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE drummer Brad Wilk, liked the original Instagram post.

RATM fan page @war_within_a_breath posted: "THIS IS NOT A DRILL! RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE announced five shows for 2020 on their new Instagram. Along with other sources close to RATM, Juliette Lewis (who is dating Brad) confirmed to me the announcement is real." The RATM fan page added: "To everyone asking me if this is real: I would NEVER joke about something this serious, I would NEVER post 'rumors' if I couldn't back it up with solid proof. This isn't a dream, this is real life."

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE last played together in 2011 at L.A. Rising and has resisted calls for a reunion, with vocalist Zach De La Rocha previously believed to be the lone holdout. Guitarist Tom Morello and his fellow RAGE bandmates Tim Commerford (bass) and Wilk have since teamed up with PUBLIC ENEMY's Chuck D. and CYPRESS HILL's B-Real in the similarly styled PROPHETS OF RAGE.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE recorded three original studio albums and one set of covers before breaking up in 2000. The group reformed in 2007 but only played sporadic gigs and never a full tour. Morello said in 2012, "We'd have to agree to go on one. Once a year, the band meets and very seriously discusses and turns down awesome offers to tour the world."

APOCALYPTICA Releases Spellbinding Video For 'Rise'

Finnish cello rock band APOCALYPTICA has released the spectacular new music video for "Rise" which can be seen below. Integrated with the achingly beautiful new song from the group's upcoming studio album, "Cell-0", due out January 10, 2020 (Silver Lining Music), "Rise" is an impressionistic painting come to life, which enacts the humanity that we all share and the power and gravity of one-on-one interactions.

Said director/writer Lisa Mann, who has created several other music videos for APOCALYPTICA: "The idea was to make a video that was whimsical and captivating, that would transport the viewer into an alternate dimension that mirrors our society and today's importance of compassion and empathy. Characters in this world fall and rise again, and ultimately come together to help each other rise."

To create the ethereal "otherworldly" look of the "Rise" video, Mann collaborated with cinematographer Jason George who incorporated infrared technology, borrowed from the analogue world and now re-emerging in today's digital sphere.

"APOCALYPTICA's music is timeless, very emotional and cinematic, and we wanted the 'Rise' video to reflect that," she said.

APOCALYPTICA's Eicca Toppinen stated about the song: "'Rise' is a statement of hope, there is always a brighter side, no matter how dark or hopeless things seem to be. To believe in good and beauty, staying true to yourself and not giving up on that."

In support of the release of "Cell-0", APOCALYPTICA — cellists Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso and Paavo Lötjönen, and drummer Mikko Sirén — will be the special guests for SABATON on a 15-country, 23-date European tour that begins on January 17, 2020 in Zurich, Switzerland.

"We will be planning the full 'Cell-0' tour to be at the next level in terms of how we frame our performance," added Toppinen, "because we don't know any other way."

The recording of "Cell-0" followed a four-year break between albums that gave the band a fresh perspective and affected the way they approached the new music. The album sees them return to their roots and is the quartet's first instrumental album in 17 years, finding APOCALYPTICA challenging themselves to discover new flavours and colors in their respective instruments.

"It is tough to express without lyrics, but in 'Cell-0', we found particles of our universe previously unknown to us," they explained. "Millions of notes combine to create music just as millions of cells combine to create life, and when you visualize the whole thing, similar patterns appear."

Produced by APOCALYPTICA, mixed by Andrew Scheps (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, LANA DEL REY, METALLICA, BLACK SABBATH), and recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, "Cell-0" sees the band soaring into ethereal space on "Ashes Of The Modern World", while diving head-first into aggressive thrash cello-riffery during "En Route To Mayhem".

Rather than put strategic attention on aspects like writing singles, the band approached "Cell-0" as a fully formed piece of art, connecting the right details and hues with the energy of being a real cello-metal band. By pushing themselves to find other places and levels in their music, APOCALYPTICA opened up to some seemingly unorthodox methods and emotions while traveling through that creative process.

"These new songs have so many layers and are so complex, and it's not always easy to point exactly what they are about," Toppinen expressed. "But I think that's also the beauty of instrumental music, that the listener always can feel free to experience the same songs in very, very different ways. It's also one reason why we don't want to explain the songs before they're experienced.”

LINKIN PARK's MIKE SHINODA Releases New Single 'Fine'

LINKIN PARK's Mike Shinoda has released a new single, "Fine". The song is featured on the soundtrack of the upcoming film "The Blackout" which is due for release across Russia on November 21 and in Germany, Austria, and the Baltic States on November 28.

Shinoda announced the "Fine" release on social media, sharing some of the song's lyrics on Instagram: "Tell all the children to lock those doors‬ / ‪I've seen the smoke in the sky before‬ / ‪Gotta be up on my feet‬ / ‪When the morning comes‬ ‪/ 'Cause this fight you can't ignore‬ / Everything is gonna be fine.‬"

Mike's full-length solo album called "Post Traumatic", came out last year. Some of the disc was inspired by the death more than two years ago of LINKIN PARK singer Chester Bennington. The latter was found dead in his Los Angeles-area home on July 20, 2017 after hanging himself. LINKIN PARK headlined an all-star tribute concert for Bennington in October 2017 in Los Angeles but has not announced any future plans for recording or touring.

From wherever you joined along the road to 'Aurora', this one is for you. Thank you."

This is the magic of BREAKING BENJAMIN songs that I love. Ben asked me to sing on this acoustic version of 'Dear Agony' at a time when singing the lyrics sliced through me in a deeply prophetic way. It was a revelatory and healing experience. I'm so thankful."

Ward stated: "I'm very honored and blessed to be a part of such a beautiful song and project. Ben's writing has had a special place in our hearts for many years. Thankful to be a part of this."

Chamberlain said: "Touring with BREAKING BENJAMIN was not only one of my favorite tours we've done in years but we also left the tour with lifelong friends. Being asked to sing on 'Red Cold River' was very flattering and a complete honor. I love these guys as musicians and as people, I'm honored to be a small part of their journey.”

Barnes said: "I was honored to be a part of BREAKING BENJAMIN's new acoustic record along side so many other amazing singers. Can't wait to hear the whole thing!"

EMMURE Completes New Album, Releases 'Pigs Ear' Single

Following the monumental success of their last album, "Look At Yourself", and countless tours over the last several years, metallic hardcore juggernauts EMMURE have recently wrapped up the recording of their highly anticipated, eighth studio album that's due out in 2020 from SharpTone Records. Today, the band has unveiled the first taste of what's to come with a brand-new single titled "Pigs Ear".

Watch the visualizer for "Pigs Ear" below.

Vocalist Frankie Palmeri states about the new song: "Hindsight is 2020."

Summoning the most brutal barebones, punishing metallic hardcore with some of the catchiest nu-metal inspired Active Rock rhythm around, EMMURE makes its awaited return with no feigned sophistication, no phoned-in sloganeering, and no calculated drama. Leaving the gossip and the rumor mill in the past, Palmeri, along with guitarist Josh Travis and drummer Josh Miller, has emerged from the studio with a new LP.

Fans can catch EMMURE on tour in November and December with AS I LAY DYING and AFTER THE BURIAL.

EMMURE's latest album, "Look At Yourself", which was released in March 2017. The follow-up to the 2014's "Eternal Enemies" marked EMMURE's first release with SharpTone Records.
