Former LUNA MORTIS Singer Announces Return To Live Stage
Madison, Wisconsin-based vocalist Mary Zimmer — formerly of the band LUNA MORTIS (originally THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE) — has announced her long-anticipated return to the stage.
Zimmer will perform as METAL MARY AND THE HIRED GUNS — a special one-time event with a group of established musicians from the Wisconsin rock and metal scenes — on Saturday, October 13 at The Frequency in Madison.
2010 saw the breakup of the LUNA MORTIS, whose final album, "The Absence", was released via Century Media Records.
Mary's return to the stage is her first major live appearance after the dissolution of the acclaimed Madison metal outfit.
"I am hitting the stage to play with a band for the first time (other than guest appearances) since the breakup of LUNA MORTIS and I am incredibly excited to be sharing the stage with a group of amazing musicians," states Zimmer.
"There will be a lot of firsts at this show, including my first time playing in a formalized band with my sister, Emily Zimmer, on lead guitar. It's also the first time I will be playing and singing at the piano for a song or two in a live band setting.
"I am extremely excited for this event. Everyone in this band is at the absolute top of their game musically, and while it's a one-time show for us, it's going to be one of the most incredible shows we've ever played."
THE HIRED GUNS are:
Emily Zimmer (FREDDIE LEE BAND) - Guitar
Jon Liedtke (FACE OF RUIN, SHROUD OF DESPONDENCY) - Guitar
Jerry Hauppa (CONCENTRIC, NORTHLESS) - Guitar
Brian Van Wychen (WISFITS, ex-ONUS) - Drums
Additionally, a special guest appearance by Grace Meridan of the Chicago band CANDLELIT is planned.
Mary and Grace are both members of the international community of professional female singers, Eve's Apple.
Mary can be heard doing classical/operatic background vocals on the upcoming MOTIONLESS IN WHITE album "Infamous", which is due in November via Fearless Records. The album was produced by Jason Suecof, who was also responsible for production on the final LUNA MORTIS record, "The Absence".
