LICH KING's Do-Over EP Released Tomorrow; Now Streaming Online
Massachusetts thrashers, Lich King, will release a new EP entitled Do-Over, tomorrow (December 25th) via Evil EyE Records. A pre-order bundle is available at EvilEyeRecords.net, and all tracks from the EP can be heard streaming in the YouTube playlist below.
Do-Over comprises five re-recorded songs from the Necomantic Maelstrom and Toxic Zombie Onslaught albums. Do-Over also features a cover version of Van Halen's track “Hot For Teacher” and a demo version of “Crossover Songs Are Too Damn Short” which will appear on the band's fifth full length album scheduled for a mid-2015 release.
Lich King is architects of new old-school thrash metal in the vein of Exodus, Vio-lence, S.O.D and Slayer amongst others.
Drummer Brian Westbrook describes the bands unique proposition as follows: "We think the sound of thrash was perfected in the ‘80's and we're not trying to add anything to the mix. We're just coming up with riffs and songs that the old masters didn't."
Lich King's frontman Tom Martin made the following educated statement regarding the new deal between Lich King and Evil EyE Records: "So apparently we're ‘signed’ to some no-name label now. Brian did it under my nose, despite my protestations. That's just great. We couldn't be happier to be contractually shackled to Eviley or whatever for the foreseeable future. Having some scheister on another continent in control of our future sounds like such a great way to lose a lot of money, and we're really excited to begin the 'but things wouldn't always be so good' part of our VH1 Behind The Music episode. What the hell."
The Do-Over EP was produced and mixed by Lich King's drummer Brian Westbrook (PDP Recording, while the EP's artwork was designed by Lich King's vocalist Tom Martin (Tom Martin Art & Design.)
Do-Over tracklisting:
“Mascot War”
“Thrashssacre”
“Predator”
“Toxic Zombie Onslaught”
“Black Metal Sucks”
“Hot For Teacher” (Van Halen cover)
“Crossover Songs Are Too Damn Short” (demo)
The initial statement regarding the impending EP release was first broadcast over Lich King's social media channels and Instant comparisons and queries were made by fans and non-partisan individuals alike regarding the originality of the Do-Over EP's artwork.
Lich King released the following statement by way of response: "A lot of people are saying the new EP's art is a rip-off of some old DRI album. I don't see the resemblance. If anything, they probably ripped US off."
