DEVIL YOU KNOW: 'As Bright As The Darkness' Video Premiere
The official video for the song "As Bright As The Darkness" from DEVIL YOU KNOW — the creative union of Howard Jones (ex-KILLSWITCH ENGAGE), Francesco Artusato (ALL SHALL PERISH) and John Sankey (DEVOLVED) — can be seen below. The clip, which was produced in partnership with The You Rock Foundation, was created by John Rockovich, The track is taken from DEVIL YOU KNOW's debut album, "The Beauty Of Destruction", which sold around 6,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 45 on The Billboard 200 chart.
Said Jones: "The moment I heard the music for 'As Bright As The Darkness', I knew what I was going to write.
"This song is about the times I felt at my lowest.
"I've been fighting depression for years and I wish I had not waited so long to get help.
"Those who know depression, you are not alone. Just reach out."
Added Sankey: "We are very honored that we can use our music to join forces with The You Rock Foundation to send such an important and positive message."
The You Rock Foundation aims to serve as a safe haven for those who have suffered from or are currently suffering from depression — the largest perpetrator of suicide, which is the third leading cause of death among young adults aged fifteen to twenty-four. Using music as a backdrop to spread awareness, educate, and empower, the foundation seeks to pull those suffering out of the dark and show them the possibilities of moving forward with a life that thrives.
"The Beauty Of Destruction" was released on both physical and digital formats in April 2014 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The CD was produced by Logan Mader (FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, GOJIRA, DEVILDRIVER, SOULFLY) and mixed by Chris "Zeuss" Harris (HATEBREED, SOULFLY). Artwork for the album was created by noted painter and illustrator Travis Smith (OPETH, DEVIN TOWNSEND).
Regarding how DEVIL YOU KNOW came together, Jones told Australia's Loud magazine: "I had taken some time away from music. I wasn't sure of what I wanted to do. One thing was for certain: I didn't want to join anything that sounded remotely like KILLSWITCH. When I heard what John and Francesco had been writing, it was immediate for me. It made me want to be creative and go back out there and prove myself again."
Added Artusato: "Three, four years ago John and I started writing some songs for fun. Then we got to a point, I don't remember exactly when, we had ten or 15 songs. We started thinking about singers; who was available and people we knew. I think John e-mailed Howard; we e-mailed Howard, like, three songs. We thought that was our first choice… And then we heard back from him a week later or something. Saying, 'I really dig the stuff, let's do this'. A few months later, he flew down to L.A. and started working on the stuff."
DEVIL YOU KNOW's touring lineup is completed by guitarist Roy Lev-Ari and BLEEDING THROUGH bassist Ryan Wombacher.
