OTEP Calls For Equality With Empowering New Music Video For

OTEP Calls For Equality With Empowering New Music Video For 'Equal Rights Equal Lefts'

Singer, poet, illustrator, author and activist Otep Shamaya shook things up at SXSW this past weekend by dropping her latest artistic protest of mounting regressive political actions. She took a further stand for equal rights with the world premiere of her band's empowering new music video for the heavy, rap-influenced track "Equal Rights Equal Lefts". Fans at Colours Couture's SXSW fashion showcase presented by 3Thirteen Entertainment Group this weekend were treated to the video (directed by Aleks Rastovic) for the first time during OTEP's headlining set. After the premiere, OTEP posted the video on her YouTube channel for the world to see. Watch it below (**Warning: Portions of this video are NSFW**). The "Equal Rights Equal Lefts" video and track further solidify OTEP's diligent quest for equality.

"I wrote this song to celebrate and empower all people to live their authentic selves, to live their truth, and to fight for their right to exist," Otep says. "Every day the LGBTQ community faces bigotry, bullying, ridicule and legislative attacks. We are not 'the other.' We are your friends, your family, your neighbors, your coworkers, your doctors, nurses, soldiers and fellow Americans. Simply put, this song and this video are about love and equality." OTEP will wrap up the first leg of its "The Resistance" world headline tour this week.

The band is touring in support of its most recent full-length release, "Generation Doom", which hit stores in April 2016 via Napalm Records.

LACERTA To Release Self-Titled Album In April; “Pillars Of Deceit” Video Streaming

LACERTA To Release Self-Titled Album In April; “Pillars Of Deceit” Video Streaming

Birthed in 2005, prior to the more-recent explosion of tech death, Lacerta paved the way for later-era tech death bands such as Beyond Creation and Archspire and released their debut effort, entitled Mind Processor, in 2010. The album, produced by Psycroptic guitarist Joe Haley, was the perfect combination of brutality and brains, with the over-arching sci fi themes the perfect narrative to the clinical-yet-complex compositions.

In the time it would take an astronaut to circle the earth 38,000 times, Lacerta wrote and recorded their debut effort, toured with the likes of Ruins, Psycroptic, Dreadnaught, Gape, and MSI, and wrote and recorded their brand new sophomore effort. This latest self-titled album contains eight tracks of classy, sophisticated, death metal architecture that will certainly go on to inform a whole new journey of tech death into the furthest reaches of space.

The band’s self-titled album will be released on April 14th via CDN Records. A video for the lead track, “Pillars Of Deceit” can be found below.

Tracklisting:

“Pillars Of Deceit”
“Grotesque Design”
“Hell To Pay”
“Incubation Of Tyrants”
“Void Of Shadows”
“Gargantua”
“Molecular Residue”
“Ambiguous Forms”

“Pillars Of Deceit” video:

Tech and death. Those two words, when combined, can mean one of either two things - either all-noodle-no-brutal, or all-brutal-with-just-the-right-amount-of-noodle. Thankfully, Tasmanian tech death mavericks Lacerta fall into the latter category.

Lineup:

Anthony Gilbert - Lead Guitars
Gabe Latham - Vocals/Rhythm Guitars
Patrick Neumayer - Drums
Justin Wilton - Bass

SEPULTURA Is Planning

SEPULTURA Is Planning 'Very Special' European Tour For Later This Year

Metal-Heads.de conducted an interview with guitarist Andreas Kisser of Brazilian/American metallers SEPULTURA before the band's March 4 concert in Essen, Germany as the support act for KREATOR. You can now watch the chat below.

Asked if there are plans for SEPULTURA to return to Europe in the near future for a headlining tour, Kisser said: "We have a plan to come back to Europe at the end of the year, doing our own tour. And pretty soon we're gonna have news about it. We're preparing something very special, very different — something we never did before — and hopefully it will work great. So be aware that we will be back."

Kisser also offered an update on the official SEPULTURA documentary which has been in the works for several years. He said: "It's finally done, actually. The director is following the band the last seven, eight years almost. He went on different tours — he went to Indonesia, Europe, States, everywhere with us — and also [collected] interviews with a lot of different people, musicians and roadies, and I think it will be very interesting to show how it is to be a part of a band like SEPULTURA and to have a family. Not only for the metal crowd, but for the normal crowd, to see the trajectory of a band from Brazil and thirty-three years of a career and stuff. I'm very excited about it. It took a while, but there's no other way to do something like that. But hopefully now in May or in April, we're gonna have more news and a date for the specific official release."

SEPULTURA's latest album, "Machine Messiah", was released on January 13 via Nuclear Blast. The disc was produced by the band and Jens Bogren (SOILWORK, OPETH, KATATONIA, AMON AMARTH) of Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden. The CD's cover artwork was created by Filipino artist Camille Della Rosa.

SEPULTURA will join veteran San Francisco Bay Area metallers TESTAMENT on a North American tour in April. Additional support on the trek will come from PRONG.

ENSLAVED To Release Roadburn Live 2LP For Record Store Day

ENSLAVED To Release Roadburn Live 2LP For Record Store Day

Roadburn Live is Enslaved’s first official live album, a split release between Roadburn Records and By Norse Music. The album was recorded during one of the band’s headline shows at the renowned Roadburn Festival 2015; an edition curated by Enslaved’s guitar player Ivar Bjørnson.

Walter Hoeijmakers / Roadburn's Artistic Director comments on the release:

"It’s no secret that there’s a strong friendship between Roadburn and Enslaved. One of the most hard-hitting and progressive bands to come out of Norway, Enslaved has played a significant part in the festival's history - both musically and artiscally. Not only has Enslaved been our artist in residence, bringing side-projects such as The Armageddon Concerto (the Enslaved / Shining collaboration), Dream of an Opium Eater and Trinacria to Roadburn, Ivar Bjørnson has also been our 2015 co-curator, along with Wardruna’s Einar Kvitrafn Selvik, and resulting in Skuggsjá's first ever performance outside of Norway. Enslaved’s 2015 performances were the pinnacle of this enduring and artistic friendship, and showcased the massive influence the band has had on both Roadburn, and the (underground) metal scene for the past two decades. To have these shows captured on vinyl is a dream come true for me, and I truly hope it’s the same for anyone who was in attendance, or those who want to indulge themselves in the Northern magic of Enslaved."

Roadburn Live will be available as limited and exclusive Record Store Day (April 22nd) color editions and as Roadburn/Enslaved-Webshop Gold edition including the original A3 Roadburn poster and color stickers.

To celebrate the release, what better way than to hold a playback session with the members of Enslaved at the Roadburn Festival 2017! Becky Laverty / Roadburn Festival comments:

“Enslaved and Roadburn share a history that is entwined and their 2015 performance on the main stage was such a fantastic milestone for both parties, that it makes perfect sense for the show to be released as a live album. As the album will be released during Roadburn 2017, it seemed fitting to invite attendees and the band alike to join us for a playback session at the festival as part of our popular side program.”

Roadburn Live also features a brilliant layout created by highly respected artist and Roadburn’s regular graphic designer Costin Chioreanu. The album was mixed by Iver Sandøy at Solslottet Studio, mastered by Jens Bogren (Kreator, Opeth, Sepultura) in Fascination Studios. It is also the last official release with Herbrand Larsen on keys and vocals.

After celebrating 25 years in 2016 showcasing a majority of older material, Roadburn Live displays songs mainly from the "newer" and more progressive era of Enslaved’s career, with songs from In Times, Riitiir, Isa, Below The Lights and Monumension. Featuring guest appearances of Einar Selvik (Wardruna), Aðalbjörn Tryggvason (Sólstafir), Per Wiberg (Opeth, Candlemass); and Menno Gootjes (Focus) on "Immigrant Song", this is the first cover song by Enslaved to appear on any record ever.

Grutle Kjellson comments on the album: "I'm generally not a huge fan of live albums, I like to be present at a show, to grasp the energy of the band and to witness the, sometimes, magical symbiosis that occurs between the band and the audience. I am, however, a huge fan of the Roadburn Festival! I consider this to be my all-time favorite, both as a musician and as a guest. Therefore; if ever Enslaved were to release a live album, it had to be from a Roadburn show! I hope you will enjoy listening to this piece of wax as much as we did recording it!"

Tracklisting:

“Building With Fire”
“Death In The Eyes Of Dawn”
“In Times”
“Daylight”
“Convoys To Nothingness”
“As Fire Swept Clean The Earth”
“Isa”
“Immigrant Song” (Led Zeppelin cover)

STONE SOUR

STONE SOUR's 'Hydrograd' Is 'A Straight Rock And Roll Album,' Says Bassist JOHNY CHOW

STONE SOUR bassist Johny Chow has described the band's upcoming disc, "Hydrograd", as "a straight rock and roll album," explaining that it's "a little bit of a departure from previous STONE SOUR" releases.

"Hydrograd" is tentatively due in June via Roadrunner Records. The disc was recorded at Sphere Studios in North Hollywood, California with producer Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with ANTHRAX and STEEL PANTHER.

Speaking to Meltdown of the WRIF radio station in Detroit, Michigan, Chow stated about the "Hydrograd" songwriting process (hear audio below): "[STONE SOUR singer] Corey's [Taylor] been out doing SLIPKNOT, so the whole time while he was out doing that, we'd all get together every six months or so and record about six songs over at Roy's [Mayorga, drums] studio, and came up with eighteen songs, and we recorded all of 'em."

He continued: "Everybody in the band wrote on this album. People would have their song ideas kind of in demo form, and we'd all exchange them, learn them, and then when we would meet up at Roy's, we would work 'em out and lay 'em down. Then Corey would come in and lay down his vocals. There was a couple of songs on there that were just acoustic guitar and him singing that turned into full-band songs."

When time came to lay down the songs in the studio, "We recorded the whole album live," Chow explained. "We didn't do it piece by piece in Pro Tools and chop it up. We wanted to not have a sterile feeling; we wanted the energy to translate from our demos onto this album, and we really were able to capture that raw, aggressive feel and tone. Roy would get a click, and then the click would be pulled out after we started, and that way, it gives it a little bit of room to breathe and adds some life to it. We had three days in rehearsal, and went right in there, and, man, we were doing about a song every day, day and a half for a little bit. We really had a great momentum going there, and it was a great experience doing it that way, man. In the years that passed, everything's just cookie cutter, chopped up, put to the grid, perfectly played, and you go over and punch in a million times over, where most of the drums and the bass were recorded live and the guitars, obviously — solos and stuff — would have to be overdubbed."

According to Chow, "Hydrograd" will contain "about fourteen songs, fifteen tracks, being that we wrote an intro as well. But that's kind of up to the record label. But we're hoping for fourteen songs. We don't wanna go less, just because we don't wanna shortchange our fans on waiting for as long as they have and just throw 'em ten songs. We don't think that'd be fair."

Regarding the musical direction of "Hydrograd", Chow said that "this album is just a straight rock and roll album. There's some kind of FOO FIGHTERS-meets-CHEAP TRICK, but there's also groove-heavy stuff. It's not heavy in the way of SLAYER; it's more heavy in the way of [BLACK] SABBATH — not sounding like SABBATH, but not that super-heavy, super metally. It's just very groove-oriented, very melodic [with] big choruses. We've got some mellower songs on there too, which are equally just as amazing and have a lot of groove to them."

He added: "This album is a little bit of a departure from previous STONE SOUR albums. We think it's the best one yet."

Chow was a bit less clear about the origin of the "Hydrograd" album title, explaining that "that's more of a Corey question. It was his idea to name it 'Hydrograd'." But, he added, "it has to do something with him being in an airport, going to the wrong gate, but the gate he thought he saw said 'Hydrograd,' and it just always stuck with him for some reason — that word 'hydrograd.' So I don't know if it's an actual true word or not."

The bassist also confirmed that "Hydrograd" will once again feature special packaging, although details have not yet been finalized. "Corey's got this [artist] that we work with that drew up a few different ideas for us, and there's one that's sticking right now, and I really can't say much about it, but it's pretty cool, man, it's pretty cool," Chow said. "It'll be different.

Taylor recently told The Pulse Of Radio that the new STONE SOUR disc is a natural progression from the band's last studio efforts. "All the promise that we showed on the 'House Of Gold & Bones' albums, we are really trying to kind of push even further with this, and it's exciting, man," he said. "Style-wise, it'll feel like it's kind of all over the map, but it'll be very, very unifying when everybody hears it. I'm really excited."

STONE SOUR's last full set of new material was the "House Of Gold & Bones" double album, which was released in two parts in 2012 and 2013. The band also released two EPs of cover songs in the last couple of years, "Meanwhile In Burbank..." and "Straight Out Of Burbank".

Taylor returned to the STONE SOUR fold this year after his other band, SLIPKNOT, completed the touring cycle for its 2014 album, ".5: The Gray Chapter".

Next ASKING ALEXANDRIA Album Is Already Written, Ready To Be Recorded

Next ASKING ALEXANDRIA Album Is Already Written, Ready To Be Recorded

Finland's Kaaos TV conducted an interview with ASKING ALEXANDRIA guitarist Ben Bruce before the band's March 20 concert at Pakkahuone in Tampere. You can now watch the chat below. A few excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On when ASKING ALEXANDRIA made the decision to split with singer Denis Shaforostov and reunite with Danny Worsnop:

Ben: "I don't know that it was really decided. You know, it's not something that we sat down and thought about a lot. We were continuing on as ASKING ALEXANDRIA with Denis to keep the band going, and we had a great time. We wrote and recorded a great record together, and I have no regrets at all. But Danny is part of our family. He started the band with me and the other guys; we're the five original members. We went through a tough time, obviously, like a lot of relationships do. But I did say to Danny the day he called me and left the band the first time, I said, 'There'll always be a place for you in ASKING ALEXANDRIA,' because he started the band with us. And people forget everything that we went through to get to where we are. Everything happens for a reason… So, like I said, whilst we had fun, we had a great time with Denis, we toured, it was a good time, the album is great, I love 'The Black', it wasn't quite ASKING ALEXANDRIA. So none of us could be any happier than we are now. We're all stoked that Danny's back, and we're all having fun, and we're all happy. Danny's a lot healthier and doesn't really drink much anymore — same as me. And it's just been awesome. We're having a much better time. We get to actually mess around and enjoy other's company now instead of just being drunken idiots all the time."

On how Danny came to rejoin ASKING ALEXANDRIA:

Ben: "It's weird. Me and Danny just met up to hang out. We met up in L.A. I was over there doing movie stuff and he just so happened to be in L.A. at the same time. He was actually supposed to fly back the day I landed, but we found out that we could cross paths, so he changed his flight. And there was no plan or anything. We just hung out. We watched the movie that I started recently together, and we had such a good time and reconnected and everything just felt really good again. So when the situation arose that Denis no longer wanted to be in ASKING ALEXANDRIA, he just kind of disappeared. And I was, like, well, let's see if Danny would be interested again. We had such a good time the other night. We buried the hatchet, and it was like everything was great. I was, like, why not see how he feels? And I think he was excited by the idea too. Like I said, everything happens for a reason."

On the recently released clip of new ASKING ALEXANDRIA song and whether it represents the overall direction of the band's new material:

Ben: "We're holding our cards close to our chest right now. We're not gonna give too much away. Obviously, that was music that we had written. Whether it makes the album or not, we'll see. The whole album's written and is ready to be recorded properly. And then we have some huge touring opportunities in the works that we are working on right now, so it's gonna be exciting."

On whether the upcoming ASKING ALEXANDRIA album was written on the road:

Ben: "We used to write on the road. I mean, a lot of 'The Black' was written on the road, a lot of 'The Black' was written on the road, a lot of 'From Death To Destiny' was written on the road. But this album, though, I actually went into a studio. I spent months in the studio with [producer] Matt Good and wrote the album. I was, like, 'This has to be better than anything we've ever, ever written.' So I spent months locked away in the studio, all night, all day. I used to go into the studio at lunchtime and not get home until lunchtime the next day. And my baby would already be awake, and I'd be, like, 'Damn, I need to go to bed for a bit.' For months, I was on that brutal schedule. But it's been worth it."

The reunion between Danny and ASKING ALEXANDRIA was confirmed last October following weeks of rumors and speculation regarding the status of Shaforostov, who joined the band in 2015.

Bruce said in a video message that Shaforostov had "just stopped talking to us." But the singer later tweeted, "I left AA because I can't be in a touring band at this point in my life. There's no drama and I don't want to be a part of it."

For his part, Worsnop said about the reunion, "I'm now in a place mentally where this is something I can embrace again, with the men I started this crazy journey with."

CAVALERA CONSPIRACY Is Working On

CAVALERA CONSPIRACY Is Working On 'A Beast' Of A New Album

CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, the band led by brothers and founding SEPULTURA members Max (also of SOULFLY) and Igor Cavalera, has commenced work on material for the follow-up to 2014's "Pandemonium" album.

Speaking to Chad Carsten of Faygoluvers, Max said of CAVALERA's plans for the coming months: "CAVALERA is working on a new record this year, which is gonna be great. I won't give more details, 'cause it's still… A lot of it is just being born right now. I'm working on the riffs and sending ideas to Igor. But it's gonna be a beast of an album. It's gonna be our fourth album. We're gonna try to make the best one of all, everything we've done. We'll try to clean slate on the whole thing and make just an awesome, in-your-face great record."

"Pandemonium" sold around 2,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 177 on The Billboard 200 chart.

CAVALERA CONSPIRACY's previous CD, 2011's "Blunt Force Trauma" opened with around 5,000 units to land at No. 122.

The band's first CD, 2008's "Inflikted", registered a first-week tally of 9,000 copies to enter the chart at No. 72.

"Pandemonium" was produced by John Gray, who has previously worked with SOULFLY.

Max and Igor have spent the last few months celebrating the twentieth anniversary of SEPULTURA's classic album "Roots" by performing the LP in its entirety.

CHRIS BARNES: How JACK OWEN Came To Join SIX FEET UNDER

CHRIS BARNES: How JACK OWEN Came To Join SIX FEET UNDER

Former CANNIBAL CORPSE and current SIX FEET UNDER frontman Chris Barnes was interviewed on the latest episode of "The Metal Podcast". You can now listen to the chat below.

Regarding how his former CANNIBAL CORPSE bandmate Jack Owen came to join him in SIX FEET UNDER after being fired from DEICIDE, Barnes said: "We'd been talking for a while about writing and doing some stuff, and I don't know… I guess the stars were just aligned at the right spot this time.

"Me and Jack have been, I think, silently closer friends through the past twenty years or whatever than myself and any of the other [CANNIBAL CORPSE] guys, even though I've seen the other guys more often than I'd been in contact with Jack. So, yeah, it's been cool, man. I always had a blast with him in the CANNIBAL days, so it's gonna be fun."

According to Barnes, Owen's dismissal from DEICIDE took place after the two of them had already discussed a possible collaboration. "We had been talking before that happened — just texting here and there, you know, staying in contact — and he texted me one day and just was, like, 'Yeah, I've been let go,'" Chris explained. "And I was, like, 'Wow, man! Holy shit!' So we just started talking from there on every couple of weeks or a month or something, just saying, 'What's up?' And it finally came down to the day before we did that press release [when we decided to make it official]."

Owen said in a statement that he was "super excited" to work with his "metal brother" Chris Barnes in SIX FEET UNDER. He added that "performing with Chris will be like reliving our youth."

After Barnes left CANNIBAL CORPSE to form SIX FEET UNDER, he was replaced in the former band by George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher.

SIX FEET UNDER's twelfth studio album, "Torment", wwas released on February 24 via Metal Blade. The disc was brought to life by Barnes with bassist/guitarist Jeff Hughell (BRAIN DRILL) shouldering the load of writing the music, along with heralded drummer Marco Pitruzzella (BRAIN DRILL, ANOMALOUS, SLEEP TERROR).

IN FLAMES Frontman:

IN FLAMES Frontman: 'I Don't Wanna Write Political Songs Or Fantasy Songs'

A Music Blog, Yea! recently conducted an interview with vocalist Anders Fridén of Swedish metallers IN FLAMES in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. You can now watch the chat below.

Speaking about the title of the new IN FLAMES album, "Battles", Anders said: "Well, I can't really write… I probably could, but I don't wanna write political songs or fantasy songs; I wanna deal with things that I deal with every day and, for the most part, our fans deal with. I mean, we have battles from a really young age up until the day we die, and it's important, I think, to deal with those things. You've gotta take care of your past so you can embrace the future. I think this is something that everybody can relate to."

Asked what it was like recording "Battles" in Los Angeles after tracking 2014's "Siren Charms" in Berlin, Anders said: "It was an awesome experience, 'cause it was so much more relaxed and easy-going than in Berlin. That was a stressful recording [session]. It was supposed to be like that, 'cause I wanted something out of that whole experience, and I think that 'Siren Charms' turned out exactly how I wanted it to be. But this one was recorded in the sun. Of course, not outside the studio, but it was the California sun, so, for us, it was, like, barbecue, beer and heavy metal 24-7. And it was just an awesome expeience. It was the first time we worked with a producer like Howard Benson, and he wanted us to do demos for all the songs, so everybody knew exactly what was gonna happen when we started to record them, and that's something we haven't done in the past. It's been music in one corner, vocals in one corner, and we sort of met up in the mix, and it's a surprise to everyone. But now everybody knew, and I think that made it a better experience for every member."

IN FLAMES drummer Daniel Svensson announced in 2015 that he was leaving the band to focus on his family life. He has since been replaced by Joe Rickard, who played on "Battles" as a session musician.

More recently, bassist Peter Iwers issued a statement in November saying that he was leaving IN FLAMES at the end of the recent U.S. tour "to pursue other endeavors." His replacement is Håkan Skoger, who has previously played with PASSENGER and GARDENIAN.

SWORN IN Signs To FEARLESS RECORDS

SWORN IN Signs To FEARLESS RECORDS

Fearless Records has announced the signing of Chicago's SWORN IN. The band is putting the finishing touches on its new album, due this summer.

"Over the course of the past year, we have remained quiet for good reason," says vocalist Tyler Dennen. "It's now time to begin shedding light on our silence, and the first thing we'd like to say is that, with genuine excitement and gratitude, we are ecstatic to announce that we have signed with the fantastic people at Fearless Records. The wait is drawing to a close, and we truly thank you all for your patience. You'll be hearing from us and seeing us much more this year."

Cultivating a strong concoction of abrasive, angry music and raw, unfiltered emotional honesty, Chicago's SWORN IN — composed of Tyler Dennen (vocals), Eugene Kamlyuk (guitar), Derek Bolman (bass) and Christopher George (drums) — have been playing their special brand of heavy music internationally for four years. In recording and through live performances, SWORN IN delivers an emotional outpour through words and with music to match that intensity. Since forming in 2011, the four-piece has toured with notable acts such as EMMURE, I SEE STARS, ESCAPE THE FATE and CROWN THE EMPIRE, among others. Priding themselves in musical complexity, they retain a level of accessibility while remaining digestible.

SWORN IN is currently touring as support to LIKE MOTHS TO FLAMES, with additional support from labelmates MY ENEMIES & I, COVER YOUR TRACKS and BACKWORDZ.

NOVEMBERS DOOM:

NOVEMBERS DOOM: 'Zephyr' Lyric Video Released

NOVEMBERS DOOM will release its tenth full-length album, titled "Hamartia", on April 14 via The End Records. The disc is available now for pre-order on iTunes, Amazon and Google Play.

Considered by the band to be their best work to date, "Harmartia"'s mastery is due in part to the synergy of its lineup, who constituted their previous album, "Bled White": Paul Kuhr (vocals), Larry Roberts (guitar), Vito Marchese (guitar), Mike Feldman (bass), and Garry Naples (drums).

Recorded at Belle City Sound in Racine, Wisconsin, "Hamartia" was helmed by longtime NOVEMBERS DOOM producer Chris Djuricic (JUNGLE ROT, MALEVOLENCE) and mix master Dan Swanö (OPETH, DISSECTION, KATATONIA). The album also sees guest appearances from Ben Johnson on keyboards, Rhiannon Kuhr on backing vocals ("Ever After", "Miasma", "Zephyr"), Andrew Craighan (MY DYING BRIDE) on guitar melody ("Waves In The Red Cloth"), Bernt Fjellestad (SUSPERIA) on backing vocals ("Borderline"), and Dan Swanö on backing vocals ("Borderline").

Says Kuhr: "For the first time in this band's existence, we have the same lineup on two consecutive albums. Without the need to focus on a new element, we could concentrate on the writing process more clearly, and the synergy between the group is apparent in the end result.

"I actually mean it when I say in my own humble opinion, I truly feel NOVEMBERS DOOM have created our very best work to date. From the writing to the captured performances to the overall mix and sound of this album, 'Hamartia' is a logical evolution from 'Bled White' but adds some of the darker elements from 'The Pale Haunt Departure'. It's a NOVEMBERS DOOM album through and through, and hopefully others will share my enthusiasm once they get a chance to hear it."

Formed in 1989, NOVEMBERS DOOM is celebrating its 28th anniversary year, and "Hamartia" is a sonic testament to the band's legacy as one of the earliest U.S. dark and doom metal acts still active today.

"Hamartia" track listing:

01. Devils Light02. Plague Bird **03. Ghost04. Ever After05. Hamartia06. Apostasy07. Miasma08. Zephyr09. Waves In The Red Cloth10. Borderline

The official lyric video for the song "Zephyr" can be seen below.

THE LURKING FEAR Feat. AT THE GATES Members: Debut Album To Be Released Via CENTURY MEDIA

THE LURKING FEAR Feat. AT THE GATES Members: Debut Album To Be Released Via CENTURY MEDIA

Swedish death metal supergroup THE LURKING FEAR has inked a worldwide deal with Century Media Records. The band is working on its debut album, due later this year. Featuring members/ex-members of illustrious and influential acts like AT THE GATES, THE HAUNTED, SKITSYSTEM, DISFEAR and GOD MACABRE, THE LURKING FEAR is not just another retro all-star project, but a real band of five death metallers who organically got together in order to celebrate the metal breed closest to their roots as well as their hearts. THE LURKING FEAR is:

* Tomas Lindberg (AT THE GATES) - Vocals* Jonas Stålhammar (THE CROWN) - Guitar* Fredrik Wallenberg (SKITSYSTEM) - Guitar* Andreas Axelsson (DISFEAR, TORMENTED, EDGE OF SANITY) – Bass* Adrian Erlandsson (AT THE GATES, THE HAUNTED) – Drums THE LURKING FEAR checked in with the following comment: "We are a death metal band. Not your average new wave of old school death metal band. We play death metal from the heart with pure emotional impact and a focused artistic vision. This is the music we live and breathe. Always have, always will. "We have all played in various other bands for over 25 years and we just want to spew out the music that we want to hear. When we get together, this is what comes out of naturally, because we share the exact same reference points. We love 'Seven Churches' and 'Mental Funeral' for the exact same reasons. "We want our death metal ugly, twisted and possessed. We miss the urgency, intensity and 'realness' in a lot of the modern death metal. Therefore, it is natural for us to stray away from the streamlined sounds of today, but rather focus on bringing sheer, natural weirdness and horror back to the table…" Citing common inspiration by bands like AUTOPSY, POSSESSED, early DEATH, REPULSION, early MORBID ANGEL, SLAUGHTER, BATHORY, early SLAYER and MASTER/DEATH STRIKE, THE LURKING FEAR is currently working on its debut seven-inch EP, to be released in late May (via newly founded Swedish label Moondawn. Pre-order details soon, limited to 500 copies!), and will then follow up with an album release later in the summer. Upcoming THE LURKING FEAR shows:

May 12 - Karlstad (Sweden) - Nöjesfabriken (with MERCILESS & SAINT VITUS)May 13 - Gothenburg (Sweden) - Sticky Fingers (with MERCILESS)Aug. 09-12 - Josefov (Czech Republic) - Brutal Assault Open AirAug. 11-13 - Ieper (Belgium) - Ieper FestivalAug. 11-12 - Leeuwarden (The Netherlands) - Into The Grave Festival / Aftershow @ Neushoorn

MEGADETH To Support SCORPIONS On

MEGADETH To Support SCORPIONS On 'Crazy World' U.S. Tour

According to the Los Angeles radio station 93.1 Jack FM, MEGADETH will open for German hard rock veterans SCORPIONS on a U.S. tour this fall. The trek will include an October 7 stop at the Forum in L.A. Tickets for that show go on sale this Friday, March 24 at 10 a.m., with a presale on Thursday using the password "crazy."

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine recently said that he was "really excited" about the opportunity to support an undisclosed band on at least one show in the U.S. later in 2017.

MEGADETH has spent more than a year on the road promoting the band's latest album, "Dystopia", which arrived in January 2016. The group is currently scheduled to head back out on tour at the end of April, with three U.S. festival appearances penciled in for July.

Speaking to Meltdown of the WRIF radio station in Detroit, Michigan, Mustaine stated about MEGADETH's touring plans for the coming months: "Believe it or not, we've got some cool things going on for the States. We've got two really great things we're gonna be doing. We'll be heading out some part of the spring or summer, and then we just were told about an opportunity at the end of the year that really, really excited me. It's somebody I've never played with before that we're actually gonna be supporting. They were so cool that we would step down from being a headliner to support this group."

Mustaine offered more information on MEGADETH's two upcoming tours in a separate interview with Billboard. He said: "They're both going to be very different, but exciting. One we're headlining, and it's very much bands of our ilk, and for the other one, we're in a support position for the first time in years. It's a band that I'm a huge fan of. We're really excited to see what these different dates are going to be like and have fans see us in different capacities. The headlining dates will be these diehard fans, and the others where we're going to be out with this band we're supporting, and their fans are going to hear us and won't know us from the man on the moon."

MEGADETH recently completed a month-long U.S. tour with AMON AMARTH, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, METAL CHURCH and BUTCHER BABIES.

FOREIGNER Singer Says Making Full-Length Albums No Longer Makes Any Sense

FOREIGNER Singer Says Making Full-Length Albums No Longer Makes Any Sense

Kelly Hansen says that it no longer makes sense for FOREIGNER to make full-length albums, explaining that the band will instead focus on creating a steady stream of short, immediately available works.

Hansen, who joined FOREIGNER in 2004, shortly after the departure of singer Lou Gramm, the guy whose voice you hear on all the band's biggest hits, made his comments during a recent appearance on the "Nights With Alice Cooper" radio show.

Asked if there are any plans for FOREIGNER to release a full-length album of new material as the follow-up to 2009's "Can't Slow Down", Hansen said (see video below): "Personally, I don't think that making full albums is the way to go anymore; I just don't think that makes any sense. Because we could put a lot of time and energy and money into creating a full, old-school CD-style album, and then the day it's released it'll be free on the Internet. That's the way the world wants to do it, so we're gonna say, 'Well, that's not what we're gonna do.' I think that doing a song or two at a time, doing a mini-campaign behind it, working your social media angle on that, that's a little bit more in tune with what's happening now. And there are several tunes that are in different states of completion, so there'll be stuff coming out down the road."

Hansen's bandmate, bassist Jeff Pilson, also confirmed that there have been discussions about members of the original FOREIGNER lineup, including Gramm, rejoining the group for select dates on FOREIGNER's upcoming tour to celebrate the band's debut album's 40th anniversary. "It's very possible," Jeff said. "There's the hope that at some point Lou could join us for a couple of songs at some of the shows." "There have been discussions," added Hansen. "There's nothing set in stone. We're throwing around some things that could happen, so definitely it's something that has been put out into the atmosphere."

To coincide with the tour, FOREIGNER — Hansen, Pilson, Mick Jones (lead guitar), Tom Gimbel (rhythm guitar, sax, vocals), Michael Bluestein (keyboards), Bruce Watson (guitar) and Chris Frazier (drums) — will release a celebratory 40th-anniversary album, titled "40 - Forty Hits From Forty Years" (Rhino), that features forty FOREIGNER tracks throughout the years. This album is a comprehensive compilation of original hits and several tracks from the current lineup with Hansen on vocals, including "Can't Slow Down", "Too Late" and the Top 20 AC hit "When It Comes To Love". The album also features two new songs, "The Flame Still Burns" and "Give My Life For Love", a brand new song by Jones.

"A Foreigner's Tale", the band's first-ever official biography, will be made available in various formats, including a limited edition. Produced in conjunction with Rocket 88 Books, it tells the story of FOREIGNER in the words of Jones.

Drummer JEFF PLATE Quits METAL CHURCH

Drummer JEFF PLATE Quits METAL CHURCH

Drummer Jeff Plate has announced his departure from METAL CHURCH. He explained in a statement: "I came to this conclusion two weeks ago, and agreed to hold off on the announcement until METAL CHURCH had made some decisions on what they were going to do.

"This is obviously not an easy decision. After many conversations with myself, my wife, my family, my management and Kurdt Vanderoof and Mike Howe, I know I am doing the right thing for my future.

"I know there will be questions and speculation. The bottom line is time, my time, and how best I manage it. I had to come to terms with the fact that time is just blowing by at the speed of light and there is no time for me to second-guess or regret anything I'm doing.

"At this point in my life, I need to be in more control of my time and career. I have a number of things I'd like to do and try, and to do these I have to give up something I truly love and am very proud of.

"I cannot thank Kurdt Vanderhoof enough for inviting me into METAL CHURCH. For the past 12 years, I have had the honor and privilege of playing some of the best, truly iconic hard rock/ heavy metal songs ever written. I have recorded four records with the band. The latest, 'XI', is not only one of my favorite METAL CHURCH records, but I feel it is the one of the best, if not the best records I have recorded throughout my career.

"Also, I cannot thank the METAL CHURCH fan base enough for the tremendous support. I have met thousands of you over the years and you, fans old and new, are simply the best. You have kept this band alive for the past 33 years, and I am sure there is more great music to come.

"METAL CHURCH is in a good place, and there are a number of shows and good things coming up this year.

"This decision is made now to not only let me prepare for the year to come, but also to let METAL CHURCH do the same.

"Kurdt Vanderhoof, Mike Howe, Steve Unger, Rick Van Zandt, Tim Harding (sound and production) and Joe O'Brien (President @ Rat Pak Records) have been a tremendous team, and they are also very good friends of mine. I wish them nothing but the best.

"I hope to see you all again somewhere down the road. I will keep you posted on my activities. Trust me, I will not sit still for very long."

METAL CHURCH's latest album, "XI", debuted at No. 57 on The Billboard 200, having shifted 11,000 equivalent album units in the week ending March 31, 2016.

"XI", was released on March 25, 2016 via Rat Pak Records. Produced by Kurdt Vanderhoof and co-produced by Chris "The Wizard" Collier, the band's eleventh studio release marked the return of singer Mike Howe.

METAL CHURCH will release "Classic Live" via Rat Pak Records on April 28. Produced by Kurdt Vanderhoof, this special edition release features nine classic METAL CHURCH songs recorded live on the band's 2016 tour and also includes a special bonus track, a powerful new studio version of "Fake Healer" that features a duet with QUEENSRŸCHE vocalist Todd La Torre.

THE FERRYMEN Feat. RAINBOW Singer, PRIMAL FEAR Guitarist Joined By Drummer MIKE TERRANA

THE FERRYMEN Feat. RAINBOW Singer, PRIMAL FEAR Guitarist Joined By Drummer MIKE TERRANA

THE FERRYMEN, the new project featuring guitarist Magnus Karlsson (MAGNUS KARLSSON'S FREE FALL, PRIMAL FEAR) and vocalist Ronnie Romero (LORDS OF BLACK, RAINBOW), has been joined by acclaimed drummer Mike Terrana (TARJA, RAGE, AXEL RUDI PELL, VISION DIVINE).

THE FERRYMEN's debut album will be released this summer via Frontiers Music Srl.

Musically, you can expect an overdose of melodic metal melting the songwriting and epics of the great ALLEN/LANDE records with the Ronnie James Dio-esque vocal approach from Romero.

A new EPK (Elecronic Press Kit) for the forthcoming disc is available below.

Originally from Chile and now settled in Madrid, Spain, Romero spoke to Metal Shock Finland about RAINBOW's three comeback shows in June 2016. He said: "I feel like in a dream. It's hard to assimilate all that has happened in the last few weeks. Not just living this situation with Ritchie and the other bandmates in RAINBOW, [but also the chance to] meet the fans so close to the stage and backstage and all the people going to the show. And then, all these musicians that I love and that [were] at the shows and [they] talked to me and told me that I [did] a great job. But it's a dream come true."

Asked how he felt about his performances with RAINBOW, Romero said: "I feel really good with my job, because I tried to make justice, not just to the songs, but all these singers — Ronnie James Dio, Joe Lynn Turner, Graham Bonnet, Ian Gillan and David Coverdale. I just tried to sing the songs in my own way and my own style, and I think the people appreciate that. I'm not just a copy of the other singers. I prefer to sing like Ronnie Romero singing these songs of Ronnie James Dio and David Coverdale and whatever. And I think the people prefer that, and they really appreciate the situation, because I think the people don't like to see a guy or pay for a ticket to see a guy try to sing like Ronnie James Dio. It's not a good idea. So I feel really good with my job and I know the people and the fans that have sent me messages and told me that they really appreciated [how I interpreted the songs]."

In an interview with The Moshille Times, Magnus described his songwriting process. He said: "I start with the music…actually, sometimes I start… I am not that good at piano, but it could be a great tool for me to start on, with an instrument I am not that good at 'cause if I start with the guitar, I have all this fast stuff in my fingers and it's easy just to get stuck in this stuff I've done a lot of times, so it could be a good thing to play an instrument I'm not that, you know, used to. Because when I pick up a guitar, the fingers start to move by themselves. It depends what I do. If I write for PRIMAL FEAR, I often start with the guitar because the riffs are so important in that music and then I work a lot on the production. I really like to have a great song; it's important to me. If I have the best song in the world, but I have a crappy sound, I don't think people would like it… And then I work very fast. I do the basic ideas. I like to work… not that I am stressed or anything, but I like to have a flow and maybe do the album in one or two weeks. But then I can work for another six months to do it better. To record the basic ideas, I like to work very fast."

SNAKECHARMER Feat. Ex-WHITESNAKE, BLACK SABBATH Members:

SNAKECHARMER Feat. Ex-WHITESNAKE, BLACK SABBATH Members: 'That Kind Of Love' Video

Frontiers Music Srl will release SNAKECHARMER's sophomore album, "Second Skin", on May 12.

The official video for the song "That Kind Of Love", taken from "Second Skin", can be seen below. The British hard rock supergroup SNAKECHARMER was originally founded in 2011 by former WHITESNAKE members Micky Moody and Neil Murray along with the perfect mix of high-caliber musicians, including Laurie Wisefield (WISHBONE ASH), Harry James (THUNDER, MAGNUM), Adam Wakeman (OZZY OSBOURNE), and Chris Ousey (HEARTLAND). The band's debut self-titled album was released in 2013 and musically the record showed a finely crafted hard rock style mixed with blues and melodic overtones, akin to Micky and Neil's former band and BAD COMPANY, with hints of early FOREIGNER as well. SNAKECHARMER played live shows regularly in support of the album's release and built a solid fanbase in Europe. In 2016, Moody left the band and was replaced by the Irish-born Simon McBride on lead guitar. Simon was hailed "among the best blues-rock players anywhere in the world" by Guitarist magazine and has built up an impressive resume playing with outstanding rock, soul, and blues artists. "Second Skin" is the hotly anticipated second effort from SNAKECHARMER and brings the listener straight back to the good old days of real rock n' roll played with heart and soul. Slightly harder edged compared to the debut, but with roots still firmly planted in the classic hard rock vibe with a hint of late '70s AOR, this new record sounds fresh and crisp. Murray says: "It's been a rather long journey, but finally I'm very pleased to announce that SNAKECHARMER are soon to release our new album, 'Second Skin'.

"The band has now found its own unique musical identity and in particular Laurie Wisefield and Chris Ousey have contributed some very powerful and melodic songs, which still have the SNAKECHARMER blues-rock distinctive trademarks.

"The band works in a very democratic and collaborative way, which means that sometimes there is a lot of discussion before decisions are finally made, and it was great to have a more objective viewpoint from producer Gary Stevenson, who also fired the band up with his ideas, enthusiasm and sonic skills.

"We can't wait to get out on tour and play some of the new songs, together with the best of our established classics, both SNAKECHARMER and WHITESNAKE, and showcase our new virtuoso guitarist, the brilliant Simon McBride." Track listing:

01. Sounds Like A Plan02. That Kind Of Love03. Are You Ready To Fly04. Follow Me Under05. I'll Take You As You Are06. Hell Of A Way To Live07. Fade Away08. Dress It Up09. Punching Above My Weight10. Forgive & Forget11. Where Do We Go From Here SNAKECHARMER is:

BEARTOOTH Planning Deluxe Edition Of

BEARTOOTH Planning Deluxe Edition Of 'Aggressive' Album

According to The Pulse Of Radio, BEARTOOTH has announced that a deluxe edition of its latest album, "Aggressive", will arrive on May 26. The set will contain six bonus tracks, including an acoustic version of "Hated", the band's breakthrough single that is currently No. 5 on the rock radio chart. Also included are an acoustic version of "Sick Of Me", live takes of the album's title track and "Rock Is Dead" from a BBC session, as well as concert renditions of "Fair Weather Friend" and "King Of Anything", recorded in the band's hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

BEARTOOTH frontman Caleb Shomo told The Pulse Of Radio that doing acoustic versions of songs like "Hated" didn't appeal to him at first. "Acoustic versions in general, I think we were all pretty against, and we were like, 'This is just gonna be weird to try and translate it,'" he said. "But after trying it, it turned out really cool. I love doing it because I get to sing not just literally hollering as loud and as high as I can the whole time, which is cool. It's just fun to play acoustic stuff sometimes. It's just a change of pace." .

For "Aggressive", Shomo again retreated to his home studio to write, perform and produce the album's twelve tracks, re-teaming with John Feldmann (THE USED, BLINK-182) for a bit of songwriting contribution and enlisting David Bendeth (KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, PARAMORE) to mix the release.

ALICE IN CHAINS, SKID ROW, MACHINE HEAD Members Perform At 'Randy Rhoads Remembered' Event In Agoura Hills (Video)

Phil Demmel (MACHINE HEAD), Scotti Hill (SKID ROW), Rudy Sarzo (OZZY OSBOURNE, WHITESNAKE, DIO, QUIET RIOT), Stephen Perkins (JANE'S ADDICTION), Simon Wright (AC/DC, DIO) and Sin Quirin (MINISTRY) are among the musicians who gathered this past Sunday night (March 19) to honor one of rock's most legendary guitarists at the "Randy Rhoads Remembered: A Celebration For A Guitar Legend" concert at The Canyon in Agoura Hills, California.

Founded in 2013 by former WHITESNAKE drummer Brian Tichy and his producing partner Joe Sutton, the event is aimed at recognizing the incredible contributions of the late Ozzy Osbourne guitarist, whose life was tragically cut short at the young age of 25.

Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be seen below (courtesy of California Rock News).

Yesterday marked the 35th anniversary of the passing of Randy Rhoads in a tragic plane accident while on tour with Ozzy Osbourne and the BLIZZARD OF OZZ band.

Tichy said about his decision to launch the event: "I love Randy Rhoads! He came into my life right at the same time I was learning guitar: 1980. He made me want to learn every note he played. I was already a drummer, but the guitar was right there with the drums, and a lot of that initial inspiration came from Randy's playing on 'Blizzard Of Ozz'. I didn't know what I was doing, but I really wanted to play like Randy Rhoads."

TOBY KNAPP Signs With India's Transcending Obscurity Records For New AFFLIKTOR Album - "Heavily Influenced By Early KREATOR And MORBID ANGEL"

TOBY KNAPP Signs With India's Transcending Obscurity Records For New AFFLIKTOR Album - "Heavily Influenced By Early KREATOR And MORBID ANGEL"

Guitarist Toby Knapp's black/thrash metal project, Affliktor, has signed with India's Transcending Obscurity Records.

"Musically this is heavily influenced by early Kreator and Morbid Angel along with vocal and guitar styles that recall early black metal," states the guitarist. "As far as the guitar solos, I wanted to break away from the usual neo-classical influence and play aggressive improvised solos inspired by the controlled yet chaotic playing of early thrash metal such as Slayer, Destruction, Exodus and even early Metallica."

Transcending Obscurity Records owner Kunal Choksi comments: “Toby Knapp is a world-renowned guitar virtuoso and is involved in the creation of music of all styles since the ’90s. He’s been a part of bands like Godless Rising and of late Waxen, Where Evil Follows, Sue’s Idol, Onward, not to mention his prolific eponymous solo band. I first came to know about him when he contributed leads to the recent Fetid Zombie album. When I heard his new black/thrash metal band Affliktor, I was blown. It was refreshing because he’s using his famed method of guitar shredding to play an underground style of music without taking away the intensity or genre’s inherent harshness. The outcome is stunning and I’m pleased to be working with the debut full length of Affliktor. The artworks have been made by none other than Mark Riddick and you can expect a stunning package for this one.”

Toby Knapp: “The Affliktor album was originally intended to be a pure thrash album, so the first layer of music is thrashing speed metal riffs. As time went on the album started developing into a new sound. Once the solos and atmospheric guitar effects were recorded the album called for sickening black/death metal vocals. The final result was kind of a technical black thrash metal hybrid. I have been fortunate to have my work released by some of the best labels in the world and with Kunal and Transcending ObscurityRecords- the tradition continues".

Although Knapp played all the instruments on Affliktor's debut, he has a band in place for live performance. The album is slated for release in mid-2017. A track taken from the album, "Burn The Earth", will be featured on the Crushing Notes Entertainment compilation Tyrants of Armageddon scheduled for release on March 30th.

Watch Knapp's official Facebook page here for updates.
