EIDOLON Return With First Recording In 10 Years; "Leave This World Behind" Streaming

EIDOLON Return With First Recording In 10 Years; "Leave This World Behind" Streaming

Canadian metal cult band Eidolon featuring brothers and former Megadeth members Glen Drover (guitars) and Shawn Drover (drums) have recorded a new song, "Leave This World Behind", also featuring bassist Adrian Robichaud and Pagan's Mind vocalist Nils K. Rue. It is the band's first recording in almost 10 years.

Glen Drover recently spoke with Bravewords scribe Carl Begai about dusting off Eidolon for this one-off reappearance. An excerpt from the interview, coming soon, is available below. Drover comments on the band's decision to call it quits after only one album with Rue, considered by many fans to be the best singer Eidolon had in their 10 year career.

Drover: "To be honest, we never called it quits, we basically just decided to put the band on the shelf. I mean, at that point yes, Shawn and I were now half of Megadeth, and way too busy to consider anything else regardless of the fact that we had finally found an all around amazing and professional singer who couldn't be matched. We had a lot of negative feedback in the past about some of  our previous singers. All of those people were silenced when we brought Nils in."

Eidolon released seven albums in total:

Zero Hour (1996)
Seven Spirits (1997)
Nightmare World (2000)
Hallowed Apparition (2001)
Coma Nation (2002)
Apostles of Defiance (2003)
The Parallel Otherworld (2006)

Watch for the feature story coming to BraveWords later this week. Check out "Leave This World Behind" below.

AUDIOTOPSY Feat. MUDVAYNE Members: Video Footage Of Colorado Concert

AUDIOTOPSY Feat. MUDVAYNE Members: Video Footage Of Colorado Concert

Fan-filmed video footage of AUDIOTOPSY, the new band featuring guitarist Greg Tribbett (MUDVAYNE, HELLYEAH), drummer Matt McDonough (MUDVAYNE), vocalist Billy Keeton (SKRAPE) and bassist Perry Stern, performing on November 30 at Aggie Theatre in Fort Collins, Colorado can be seen below.

AUDIOTOPSY's debut album, "Natural Causes", was released on October 2 via Napalm. The CD was produced by the AUDIOTOPSY bandmembers at The Porch Studio in Orlando, Florida with engineer Tim Laud.

"Natural Causes" track listing:

01. Headshot02. All We Know03. LYLAB04. The Calling05. H2O (Interlude)06. Swim07. Disguise Your Devils08. Burn the Sky09. Distorted10. Darken the Rainbow11. Frozen Scars12. Natural Causes (Outro)

Said Greg: "The focus was to write solid, hooky, big riff songs. We didn't want to sound or look like every other band. It's not supposed to be regular. We're all building this vision together." Merging intricate instrumentation with a seamless knack for melody, they conjured up a style as heavy as it is hypnotic. "We got a vibe going", added Greg. You could call it 'progressive hard rock.'"

Regarding the CD's opening track, "Headshot", Billy said: "It's from the point of view or the eyes of, not necessarily a soldier, but anybody who's in battle and in the trenches. Metaphorically speaking, it's life through the eyes of somebody fighting a battle."

Tribbett, who was also a member of HELLYEAH until early 2014, said about his project: "I'm extremely excited about AUDIOTOPSY. The music has everything you want in a record… heavy, melodic, atmospheric, big, hooky riffs/singalongs as well. The guys in the band are great and we all feel as if this was meant to happen."

Tribbett and bassist Bob "Zilla" Kakaha were dismissed from HELLYEAH in 2013. HELLYEAH guitarist Tom Maxwell explained: "They just pretty much had a lot of other stuff going on in their life that just took the focus of the band away, and for us to continue, we had to part ways with them."

HELLYEAH and MUDVAYNE singer Chad Gray told The Pulse Of Radio that the split with his longtime bandmate and friend Tribbett was painful. "It was really, really tough, I mean, kind of watching Greg go through the things he was going through, you know, as his brother, as somebody that's worked with him for 18 years," he said. "I was watching this decline in him, you know, and it was really, really difficult."

Meanwhile, it's been six years since MUDVAYNE released its self-titled fifth album, which was barely promoted and sold weakly upon release.

The band has been silent since then, although a message was posted at its Facebook page last year saying that the group had not broken up.

MARK TREMONTI Is 'Working Non-Stop' On Material For Next ALTER BRIDGE Album

ALTER BRIDGE guitarist Mark Tremonti says that he is spending all his free time on the road writing material for the band's upcoming fifth album, tentatively due next summer.

Tremonti, who is on tour with his solo group, tells Italy's Linea Rock "[I'm] working every day [on the music for the next ALTER BRIDGE CD]. [I'm] working non-stop. I've been just sending Myles [Kennedy, ALTER BRIDGE singer, who is also a member of SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS] ideas through the phone. And we hit the studio in January… We'll get together to write in January and then probably start recording in February. We haven't gotten together in person yet, but we're starting to throw ideas back and forth."

Regarding what fans can expect from the next ALTER BRIDGE album, Tremonti told TeamRock Radio: "It could go in any direction. I've got a ton of ideas in all different styles. Last time, it was just one heavy idea after another and hopefully this time we can branch out and bring something new to the table."

"Fortress" was released in 2013 and featured the Active Rock Top 15 single "Addicted To Pain".

Mark also commented on some bands' decision to cancel their tours of Europe following the events of November 13 in Paris, France where seven coordinated terrorist attacks killed 130 people.

"I think everybody's entitled to their own… If they feel uncomfortable with doing it, nobody could fault them for that at all," he said. "I see some bands take heat for it. But people have different situations. Everybody has children at home, and you have to think… And you have your fans that are gonna be at the show that are gonna be at risk. We [TREMONTI] just made sure that we have all the proper security in place before a show happens, that everybody is protected — from our crew to our fans to the band itself to the venue staff. We make sure that everything is nice and … that security is gonna be ahead of the game."

CONAN - "Revengeance" Lyric Video Streaming

CONAN - "Revengeance" Lyric Video Streaming

British metallers, Conan, will release their new album, Revengeance, worldwide on January 29th, 2016 via Napalm Records. A lyric video for the title track is streaming below.

Revengeance kicks in with warm, fuzzy, low-tuned guitars. Conan is capable of unleashing a raging maelstrom of sludge, crust-caked doom, and mammoth droning. Even though they are on their third album, the band remain as pissed off as ever. The album is the end result of mixing monolithic bad tempers, powerhouse eternal riffs, and arson-like vocals.

The band comments: "Revengeance is a collection of songs that we (Jon, Chris and Rich) are really proud of. These tracks were written in the period between October 2014 and September 2015 and we're excited to get them out into the open. The album will contain one or two surprises but one consistent factor is our eternal devotion to heaviness. We are looking forward to playing these songs live at a venue near you, see you there......"

Revengeance tracklisting:

“Throne Of Fire”
“Thunderhoof”
“Wrath Gauntlet”
“Revengeance”
“Every Man Is An Enemy”
“Earthenguard”

By 2009 Sulphur had found their home with Dark Essence Records, and released their sophomore album Thorns In Existence. Now, with a lineup that includes  Thomas Skinlo Høyven on vocals, Øyvind Madsen on guitars, keys and programming, Vegard Hovland on bass, Erik Hæggernes on  drums and guitarist Martin Lynn Ytrøy, who replaces Vulture Industries'  Eivind Huse,  Sulphur is back with a brand new album that features guest appearances from producer and Vulture Industries' frontman Bjornar Erevik Nilsen as well as Eivind Huse.

BLACK SABBATH Drummer BILL WARD Pays Tribute To SCOTT WEILAND:

BLACK SABBATH Drummer BILL WARD Pays Tribute To SCOTT WEILAND: 'He Was One Hell Of A Singer'

BLACK SABBATH drummer Bill Ward has commented on the passing of former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland, calling it a "sad" ending to the life of "one hell of a singer."

During this past weekend's edition of Ward's radio show "Rock 50", he said (see video below): "More sad news came last week, on Thursday, December the 3rd, when frontman/vocalist Scott Weiland passed away while on tour.

"We have played VELVET REVOLVER, which was one of Scott's bands, [on this radio show] and we're gonna play one of the tracks from VELVET REVOLVER in a moment, but we wanna make sure that we send our condolences to his family and thank Scott for all the music.

"I knew Scott and I met him on and off for a number of years. And I met him, actually, when he was quite young, and I found him to be one heck of a guy, to say the least. He was one hell of a singer, to say the least. And I was really taken aback by the fact that he passed away. And it's always sad when we lose a fellow musician that was active in rock and roll."

Weiland, who has had a long history of drug problems, arrests and stints in rehab, was found dead on his tour bus on December 3 at the age of 48. The suspected cause of death is cardiac arrest, although an official report has yet to be released.

A small amount of cocaine was found on the bus and Tommy Black, bassist for Scott's band THE WILDABOUTS, was arrested for possession.

Both of Scott's former bands, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and VELVET REVOLVER, issued statements on his passing, while musicians and fans around the world have also posted tributes.

The original lineup of SABBATH reunited in late 2011 for a new album called "13" and a world tour. Although Ward was on board at first, he dropped out over what he called contractual issues. Ward will apparently not be part of the band's 2016 farewell tour either.

FILTER

FILTER's RICHARD PATRICK Says He 'Will Be Sober' Because Of SCOTT WEILAND

FILTER frontman Richard Patrick says that he "will learn" from Scott Weiland's mistakes and will use the former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer's recent death as an inspiration to stay sober.

Writing on the FILTER Facebook page, Patrick — once played in the short-lived act ARMY OF ANYONE with STP's Dean and Robert DeLeo — said: "I'm sorry, Scott. You know, I was trying to help.

"You were mad at me when I went public with my comments on your addiction, and [I] pissed you off just to get you to hear. I figured if I lost a friend in order to help him, it was worth the risk. I figured if the shoe were on the other foot, maybe one day you could hit me back somehow if I went out. People think it was lame or a publicity stunt, but all I wanted was for you to hear me, if not all of us.

"Bless you, Scott. I will learn from your mistakes. I will be sober because of you. Your death won't be in vain.

"Whenever I feel the temptation to use, I will say to myself: 'For Scott, not today.'"

Patrick said in an interview earlier in the year that STONE TEMPLE PILOTS fans were the "biggest enabler" for Weiland. He explained: "The amount of shit that [the fans] give the band for trying to have a normal life… [The fans are] just sticking up for Scott, and they have no idea of [what is going on] behind the scenes." He added, "They're pushing him into his death, because they're making him believe that, 'Whatever I did is acceptable. And I can be as high as I want. And I can do as much drugs as I want.'"

Patrick noted that he didn't "work with people that are using," saying, "I fire people all the time, because it's, like, 'Hey, dude, I know an addict when I see it.'" The FILTER singer himself has been sober since September 2002.

Weiland later released a statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET in which he responded to Patrick directly. He said: "Just so you know, and others do as well, I haven't had a needle in my arm in thirteen years.

"Overcoming my addiction to heroin was the hardest thing I've ever done, and I'm damn proud of the fact that the time in my life when drugs were stronger than my commitment to my health is so far behind me, and always will be.

"By the way, man, I recall when I DID do drugs, and you were one of the guys getting high with me. It's behind you, [so] please note and respect that it's behind me too.

"As for my issues with my former band — just remember the old adage that there are two sides to every story. I haven't been late for a show in a very long time. I have worked hard to be present and on time for my fans.

"I'm not perfect — no one is — but I have worked my ass off to repair the reputation I created by being thoughtless years ago.

"Why you felt the need to attack me is unclear but I am happy to set the record straight."

STP began working with singer Chester Bennington in May 2013 after firing Weiland three months earlier, saying that his erratic behavior and pursuit of a solo career had been detrimental to the band.

GOMORRAH Reveal New Album Details; “Dismantling The Throne” Single Streaming

Kelowna, BC-based death metal architects, Gomorrah, are streaming their new single, “Dismantling The Throne”, off their upcoming album The Haruspex, due out on January 15th via Test Your Metal Records. The album is available for pre-order here. In addition, from today through the end of this coming weekend Test Your Metal Records is offering the album on CD at a sale price of $9.99 (it comes with immediate download of “Sitra Achra”); the pre-order price for the digital version will remain at $6.66.

Guitarist Bowen Matheson comments on the track: “This track started out as a back burner track, and it basically re-wrote itself in the studio. Jeff had no set vocal patterns written for it, but when he did the black metal influenced high vocals at the beginning I knew the exact direction we needed to take with it. I wrote the entire solo based entirely off of a one take improvised solo that I did for the track in pre-production. It all came together so easily and it became one of the strongest tracks on the record."

The Haruspex tracklisting:

“Imperial”
“Nine Kings Of Sulphur”
“Carcosa”
“Dismantling The Throne”
“Sitra Achra”

TOM HUNTING Says EXODUS Needs To Release New Concert DVD Feat. Singer STEVE

TOM HUNTING Says EXODUS Needs To Release New Concert DVD Feat. Singer STEVE 'ZETRO' SOUZA

Howie D. from Hard Edge Radio and National Rock Review conducted an interview with drummer Tom Hunting of San Francisco Bay Area thrashers EXODUS before the band's November 28 concert with KING DIAMOND at The Fillmore in Detroit, Michigan. You can now listen to the chat using the audio player below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On EXODUS's plans for 2016:

"We need to sit down and talk about it. I think we'll probably get together and jam and write some new stuff and refine the new stuff. And in the meantime, maybe work on a live [DVD and CD] — something with Zetro [Steve Souza, current EXODUS frontman] singing on the [former EXODUS frontman Rob] Dukes-era stuff, and make it a nice package with lots of songs and a documentary to go with it; some behind-the-scenes stuff. It's a been a while. We haven't done nothing live since '97. Well, we did the 'Shovel Headed Tour Machine' [DVD in 2010]. But, yeah, we need to do something like that. And write some new material."

On how long EXODUS can keep going:

"Personally, I haven't really put a timeline on that. I look at those goals as kind of increments at this point. Like, 'Let's work on this new record.' I have a saying, when everybody's, like, 'My back hurts,' or, 'My knee hurts,' [I tell them], 'We're a lot closer to here where it ends than there where it started.' You know, there's a finite amount of years we have left to do this. We just want it to be good, and if it ceases to become good and fun, then we'll probably pull the plug. But we're having a good time right now, so I don't see immediate-future shutdowns. [Laughs]"

EXODUS's latest album, "Blood In Blood Out", sold around 8,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 38 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released in North America on October 14, 2014 via Nuclear Blast, the CD art was illustrated by Swedish artist Pär Olofsson, known worldwide for his incredible renderings that have graced the covers of countless heavy metal albums, including EXODUS' "Let There Be Blood".

"Blood In Blood Out" is EXODUS' first album since the departure of the band's lead singer of nine years, Rob Dukes, and the return of Steve "Zetro" Souza, who previously fronted EXODUS from 1986 to 1993 and from 2002 to 2004.

Video: SCORPIONS Perform In Sofia, Bulgaria

Video: SCORPIONS Perform In Sofia, Bulgaria

Fan-filmed video footage of SCORPIONS' December 16 concert at Arena Armeec in Sofia, Bulgaria can be seen below.

SCORPIONS performed in Paris, France on November 24, marking the first time the band has played the city since an extremist group orchestrated a terror attack on Paris that left 130 dead.

The sold-out concert at the Bercy arena included an emotional moment when SCORPIONS drummer James Kottak beat the rhythm of the French national anthem, "La Marseillaise", which the crowd sang a capella.

Speaking to Christian Platz of Agentinnen.net, SCORPIONS guitarist Rudolf Schenker stated about the band's decision to carry on their French tour: "We called the French promoter and asked him what he thinks. And he said the people will go to the concert. Maybe five percent [will decide against] coming [to the gig] because [of continued terror threats] and stuff like this, but it would be very important if we go back to a normal life. And also, for us, it was important to please our fans. Because, we said, 'Okay, after this tragedy, we have to stick together and music is a bridge which can help people to overcome this tragedy.' It was like that — people were singing together. And it was not an easy decision, but, for us, it was important, especially [since] we have a very strong connection to France and [we wanted] to please [the fans] and be there. It was an amazing concert, and also Strasbourg and Lille, all the French concerts were fantastic. The people are looking for a new future and they wanna really go over it. And I think music is the best bridge to help people, and that's what we felt when we played there."

SCORPIONS singer Klaus Meine told DPA ahead of the concert: "Our France tour is overshadowed by these sad and terrible events. Of course we're also here to deal with the situation... this tragedy, respectfully."

He added: "We all feel threatened, we all feel attacked. This has hurt all of us."

However, he explained that people shouldn't live their lives on the knife's edge, somehow persuaded that a terrorist's bomb or bullet has their name on it.

"It's a rock show," he said. "We simply want to have a wicked night with our fans and make a statement in favor of life."

The new fully authorized SCORPIONS documentary "Forever And A Day" wrapped up its theatrical run and came out on DVD, Blu-ray, and digital platforms on November 27 (in German with English subtitles). The movie takes a look at the German hard-rock legends' long career, while focusing on the band's "Final Sting" trek, which initially was intended to be a farewell tour.

SCORPIONS recently completed the 2015 U.S. leg of their 50th-anniversary tour, which also is in support of their latest studio album, "Return To Forever".

There is no denying the exceptional vocal talents of Arnel Pineda, as evidenced with his longtime work with one of rock’s most enduring acts, JOURNEY. Arnel also recently signed a multi-record deal with Imagen Records, which will be issuing the much-anticipated album in 2016.

"I am very proud and excited to have such a worldwide sensation as Arnel added to our lineup at Imagen Records," says president Bob Winegard.

The tune is currently being serviced to holiday and Hot AC commercial radio and featured on retail radio for the month of December (resulting in being heard in over 8,000 stores nationwide). Additionally, Arnel is the "featured artist" and highlighted holiday single on All Access.

Video: WHITESNAKE Performs In Dublin

Video: WHITESNAKE Performs In Dublin

Fan-filmed video footage of WHITESNAKE's December 6 performance at 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland can be seen below.

WHITESNAKE's new touring lineup — David Coverdale (vocals), Joel Hoekstra (guitar), Reb Beach (guitar), Michael Devin (bass), Tommy Aldridge (drums) and Michele Luppi (keyboards) — made its live debut on May 28 at Northern Quest Casino in Airway Heights, Washington.

WHITESNAKE's twelfth studio album, "The Purple Album", was released in May via Frontiers Music Srl.

"The Purple Album" is billed as "a re-imagination of classic songs from David Coverdale's time as the lead singer for DEEP PURPLE's Mark III and Mark IV studio albums." PURPLE classics revamped for the new set include "Stormbringer", "Lady Double Dealer", "Soldier Of Fortune" and "Sail Away". Coverdale was DEEP PURPLE's frontman from late 1973 to early 1976 and sang on the albums "Burn", "Stormbringer" and "Come Taste The Band". Coverdale explained that shortly before DEEP PURPLE co-founder Jon Lord's 2012 death, he was eyeing a DEEP PURPLE gig featuring all the band members throughout the lineups. The Pulse Of Radio asked Coverdale what if any relationship he has with the frontman he replaced — the great Ian Gillan. "Ian was one of the nicest blokes I met," he said. "I'd flown over to [England to] do a charity show for Roger Glover at the [Royal] Albert Hall — a thing called 'Butterfly Ball' [in 1975] — and Ian was there and we ended up carousing for, like, four days and nights. I ended up sleeping from the moment the plane took off from Heathrow back to Los Angeles. Woke up as we landed. The perfect journey! [Laughs] But, yeah, I have absolutely no problem sharing a microphone with Ian. None. Y'know? To me, it would be the ultimate expression of gratitude to breathtaking loyalty from PURPLE fans. It's amazing. It truly is."

The deluxe edition of "The Purple Album" features two bonus tracks, four music videos and a "Behind The Scenes" featurette on the recording of the album.

Former KREATOR And SODOM Guitarist FRANK BLACKFIRE Releases

Former KREATOR And SODOM Guitarist FRANK BLACKFIRE Releases 'Back On Fire' Solo Album

Former KREATOR and SODOM guitarist Frank "Blackfire" Gosdzik has just released a new solo album titled "Back On Fire".

Blackfire is a German guitarist who started exploring and listening to his father's rock and roll albums at the early age of 6. Frank picked up a guitar at the age of 15, and then, at the age of 18, joined a cover band in which he played classic songs of acts such as JUDAS PRIEST and SAXON. About two years later, Frank joined the German thrash legends SODOM and entered Music Lab Studios in Berlin to record the band's "Expurse Of Sodomy" EP, and the "Persecution Mania" album, both of which were produced by Harris Johns. "Persecution Mania" was promoted on a European tour, which was documented on the legendary "Mortal Way Of Live" live album and video. In 1989, SODOM completed another classic album, "Agent Orange", which was the first German thrash metal album to ever enter the German chart. Frank left SODOM in 1989, but as his friends from KREATOR were in need of a guitarist, he accompanied them on a North American tour. Soon after that, he became a full-time member of KREATOR, joining them on the road and making three studio albums with the group: "Coma Of Souls" (1990), "Renewal" (1992) and "Cause For Conflict" (1995). After leaving KREATOR in 1996, Frank focused on other music genres, and also started to teach guitar playing. Between 2000 and 2006, Frank lived in Brazil, where he played with several bands in between releasing an album and an EP with his band MYSTIC. In 2007, Blackfire rejoined his former bandmates SODOM at the Wacken Open Air festival and then appeared at the Chris Witchhunter memorial concert in 2008. "Back On Fire" features the following musicians:

* Frank Blackfire - guitars, vocals* John A.B.C. Smith - bass guitar, vocals* Toni Merkel - drums

Special guests:

* Tom Angelripper - vocals on "Insane Human Race"* Nancy Kunze - vocals on "Beautiful World"

GUNS N

GUNS N' ROSES, METALLICA, ANTHRAX Members Celebrate LEMMY's 70th Birthday At Hollywood Bash; Video, Photos

Slash (GUNS N' ROSES), Duff McKagan (GUNS N' ROSES), Matt Sorum (GUNS N' ROSES), Gilby Clarke (GUNS N' ROSES), Robert Trujillo (METALLICA), Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX), Scott Ian (ANTHRAX), Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY), Steve Jones (SEX PISTOLS), Steve Vai, Billy Duffy (THE CULT), Chris Jericho (FOZZY), Doug Pinnick (KING'S X), Franky Perez (APOCALYPTICA), Sebastian Bach (SKID ROW), Whitfield Crane (UGLY KID JOE), Bob Kulick (MEAT LOAF, ALICE COOPER) and Billy Idol are among the musicians who celebrated MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy's 70th birthday at a private party on Sunday, December 13 at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California. Video footage and photos of the event can be seen below.

Lemmy, whose actual birthday falls on December 24, recently said that that he was sick of being asked when he's going to die.

Lemmy has dealt with some serious health issues recently, forcing the indulgent rock legend to scale back on alcohol and kick his cigarette habit. Though Lemmy has made some positive steps forward, he has been struggling with poor health in recent months, leading to MOTÖRHEAD's touring schedule being disrupted.

But the rock icon claims that he is doing just fine and was people to stop asking about his health.

He told Classic Rock: "I'm sick of the fucking, 'Are you going to die?' line of questioning. It's getting really old, that question. I’m alright. I'm going out there and doing my best.

"I have good days and bad days but mostly I've been doing alright. The last tour of the States was very good."

Lemmy, who will be 70 years old this month, told Classic Rock he has no intention of retiring.

He said: "It's when you get to 60 when everything starts to go pear-shaped. Everyone thinks that becoming an older guy is easy, but you never consider it fully. It comes as quite a shock. But the thing is, I don't want to give in to it."

Lemmy previously said that he didn't expect to still be here at 30.

"I don't do regrets," he said. "Regrets are pointless. It's too late for regrets. You've already done it, haven't you? You've lived your life. No point wishing you could change it.

"There are a couple of things I might have done differently, but nothing major; nothing that would have made that much of a difference.

"I'm pretty happy with the way things have turned out. I like to think I've brought a lot of joy to a lot of people all over the world. I'm true to myself and I'm straight with people."

Asked if his illness has made him more aware of his own mortality, Lemmy said: "Death is an inevitability, isn't it? You become more aware of that when you get to my age. I don't worry about it. I'm ready for it. When I go, I want to go doing what I do best. If I died tomorrow, I couldn't complain. It's been good."

VIVIAN CAMPBELL

VIVIAN CAMPBELL's LAST IN LINE: 'Martyr' Song Available For Streaming

"Martyr", a brand new song from LAST IN LINE — the band featuring DEF LEPPARD guitarist Vivian Campbell alongside fellow founding DIO members Vinny Appice and Jimmy Bain, plus singer Andrew Freeman, who has previously fronted HURRICANE and LYNCH MOB — can be streamed below. The track is taken from LAST IN LINE's debut album, "Heavy Crown", which will be released on February 19, 2016 via Frontiers Music Srl. The CD was recorded at a Southern California studio with producer Jeff Pilson, a veteran bassist who has played with DIO, FOREIGNER, DOKKEN and T&N, among others.

LAST IN LINE recently filmed music videos for the songs "Devil In Me" and "Starmaker" with director Jamie Brown of Smoking Gun, Inc. and co-producer Thomas McNeely. The "Devil In Me" clip can now be seen below.

What started as a casual and fun reunion jam in a Los Angeles rehearsal room in 2011 has, in the ensuing years, grown into a fully-fledged recording project that has taken on a life of its own. LAST IN LINE, the band, takes its name from the second DIO album released in 1984. Appice, Bain and Campbell were Ronnie James Dio's co-conspirators and co-writers on the "Holy Diver", "The Last In Line" and "Sacred Heart" albums — the records that defined the classic early DIO sound and have gone on to become part of rock history.

During that first jam, it was immediately apparent that the chemistry of the original band was very much intact — even after a 27-year hiatus. The excitement generated by that rediscovery led to a second session, this time they called in vocalist Andrew Freeman (a friend of Vinny's), whose credits include singing in the "Raiding The Rock Vault" production in Las Vegas and background vocals for THE OFFSPRING.

Hearing Andrew's interpretations of the songs was a revelation for Vivian, who immediately suggested that they book some local shows for fun. In Vivian's mind, the fact that Andrew could put a different spin on the songs made it an interesting prospect, and one that would justify taking things to the next stage, outside of the rehearsal room.

Over the ensuing years, a handful of local L.A. shows led to a handful of overseas shows in the U.K. and Japan, and eventually to an offer from Frontiers to record a new album of original material.

During the course of 2014, the band wrote and recorded 12 new songs under the guidance of longtime friend and producer Jeff Pilson. It proved to be a symbiotic relationship with Jeff that captured the organic crunch of the band and brought out the very best in Andrew's voice and delivery.

Says Campbell: "When we started this project a few years ago, the initial idea was to reunite the original DIO band to play the songs we wrote and recorded with Ronnie in the early 1980s. Joined by Andrew Freeman on vocals, we played a handful of shows in southern California, the U.K. and Japan. It was a limited ambition, but it brought us great joy in reconnecting to this great music, to each other, and to our collective history.”"

He continues: "When we first got together as the LAST IN LINE lineup, our ambition at that time didn't extend to writing and recording any new music, but when we were offered the opportunity to do so by Frontiers, we decided to enter the studio to write this new album in the very same spirit as we did the 'Holy Diver' album. Back in 1982, Ronnie, Vinny, Jimmy and I went into Sound City studios to kick around ideas and riffs, and about six weeks later we started laying down the tracks for what was to become the 'Holy Diver' album." "Heavy Crown" CD track listing:

01. Devil In Me02. Martyr03. Starmaker04. Burn This House Down05. I Am Revolution06. Blame It On Me07. In Flames (bonus track; deluxe edition)08. Already Dead09. Curse The Day10. Orange Glow11. Heavy Crown12. The Sickness DVD track listing:

01. Devil In Me (video clip)02. Starmaker (video clip)03. Making of "Heavy Crown"

As previously reported, LAST IN LINE recently parted ways with keyboardist Claude Schnell. Campbell explained in a statement: "When we started this project a few years ago, the initial idea was to reunite the original DIO band to play the songs we wrote and recorded with Ronnie in the early 1980s. Joined by Andrew Freeman on vocals and original DIO keyboard player Claude Schnell, we played a handful of shows from southern California to the U.K to Japan. It was a limited ambition, but one that brought us great joy in reconnecting to this great music, to each other, and to our collective history.

"Our ambition at that time didn't extend to writing and recording any new music, but when we were offered the opportunity to do so by the Frontiers record label, we took that step forward. At that time, it was decided that we enter the studio to write this new album in the very same spirit as we did the 'Holy Diver' record: In autumn of 1982 Ronnie, Vinny, Jimmy and I went into Sound City studios to kick around ideas and riffs, and about six weeks later we started laying down the tracks for what was to become the 'Holy Diver' album. It was after 'Holy Diver' was written and recorded that we brought in Claude to embellish certain songs in a way that the guitar just couldn't do. From that time forward, Claude became an essential part of the band's live shows.

"In retracing our footsteps, we again started to write this new album as a four-piece band — thus keeping the emphasis on guitar-driven songs. In the course of doing so, we have decided to continue on that path and remain a four-piece band.

"We wish Claude every success and he remains a very close friend and confidant to all concerned."

Asked if the LAST IN LINE material sounds like the classic DIO albums, Vivian told Eddie Trunk in a recent interview: "The majority of it… Well, actually, I wouldn't say the majority of it… I would say a good 50 percent of the songs would sound right at home on those first three DIO albums, and the others have a bit more of a modern edge to them. I mean, when you get Vinny and Jimmy and I playing, it sounds like the early DIO records, 'cause that's what it is. Obviously, Andy is a very, very different singer, he's got a very different instrument, and he writes lyrics very differently. I'm very, very impressed with where Andy has gone lyrically on the record, too; that's another thing. So it's great. It is so epic sounding. We've got some amazing songs on this, and I'm hyper excited about it, as you can probably tell."

CILVER Streaming New Song “I’m America”; Not The End Of The World Album Details Revealed

CILVER Streaming New Song “I’m America”; Not The End Of The World Album Details Revealed

New York rock act Cilver are streaming their new single "I'm America" (listen below). The track is the first bit of new music we've heard from the band since the release of their previous EP, In My Head, that came out in 2013.

““I’m America” is the anthem that America needs today," says vocalist Uliana Preotu. “It is an anthem for everyone and about everything that America is with the good and the bad. While the song is inspired from my personal story, it is the story of everyone who lives in and loves this country. It’s a song that sheds light about people's journey to America, living in America, all the sacrifices everyone makes, and in the ene just how great this country is. It’s a beautiful place, you can drink the water!"

Cilver will release Not The End Of The World on March 18th via Entertainment One Music, the first since signing with the indie label last year. The band's own Leon Lyazidi produced the record with help from well known producer Johnny K, who executive produced.  The band is eager to release their songs to the world, the band spent a good portion of the spring locked away in Groovemaster Studios in Chicago.

"This is the perfect time to release this record," says Preotu. "A time where America is angry, frustrated, lost, but hopeful. The songs are honest and biographical to the point that every lyric made me cry as it transported me to important and memorable moments of my life. Moments of loss and hope, moments that every citizen and immigrant can relate to."

Anchored by songwriting duo Uliana and guitarist Leon Lyazidi, the band has come a long way from their previous projects in New York City. What served as an artistic restart has turned into a runaway train of accomplishment that seems to be going faster as time goes on. The band signed a new deal with eOne Music last year.

“eOne is real," says Leon. "When we set out to launch Cilver, we were looking for people who ate, slept and bled music just like we did. eOne was clearly a cut above everyone else and we couldn’t be more excited to be part an amazing roster, led by a passionate and creative team.”

After landing a management deal with The RSE Group (Slayer, Gojira, Ghost, Mastodon), representation from The Circle Talent Agency, and legal from Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP, 2014 and 2015 ended up as the band’s busiest years yet. The band gained traction touring as openers on the Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock tour with Sick Puppies and Lacuna Coil. After a series of radio festivals and showcases, Cilver found themselves on a boat with Motorhead for the Motorboat Cruise this past fall. In similar fashion, the band also participated on the ShipRocked Cruise this January, which sailed from Miami to the Bahamas.

Video Premiere: SEETHER

Video Premiere: SEETHER's 'Save Today'

HardDrive Radio has premiered SEETHER's music video for the song "Save Today". Check it out below. The track is taken from SEETHER's latest album, "Isolate And Medicate", landed at No. 4 on the Billboard album chart last year. The follow-up to 2011's "Holding Onto Strings Better Left To Fray" marked the group's debut on Concord Record Group after spending the first decade of their career with Wind-Up Records.

Asked where the inspiration for "Save Today" came from, SEETHER frontman Shaun Morgan told ARTISTdirect: "I actually think that's my favorite on the album! A lot of times, I'm still dealing with the loss of my brother, and that comes through in the songwriting, especially when I write music that's more on the emotional end of the spectrum than on the rhythm and riff side. For me, it deals with that in a sense and the whole concept of loss."

He continued: "When I began writing it, it was really simple, but I liked what it was inspiring in me as far as emotion and lyrics. I ran with that. When we got in the studio with [producer] Brendan O'Brien, it became more interesting. He added some parts and made it prettier."

Morgan went on to say: "I got a cool compliment about that song recently. I went to the grocery store by my house and this kid came up to me like, 'Hey man, I really love this new album. My dad and I have been listening to it. That song 'Save Today' really struck a chord with me. It made me want to write a song like that so I sat down and wrote one.' That's a huge compliment to be paid by somebody.

"There's something about that one I love, and it does strike a chord with people. We played it live in Europe a few times before the album was out. Usually, when you play a new song, people don't pay too much attention because they're far more into songs they're more familiar with. This one grabbed everyone's attention and had people crying which is weird for a song people have never heard before. It's special."

Poland’s CHEMIA Release New Single, Music Video

Poland’s CHEMIA Release New Single, Music Video

Poland’s Chemia have released their new single and video (streaming below). The song is called "I Love You So Much" and it's taken from the new album, Let Me, which is already out in Europe. The digital US release for the album is set for February 5th via SPV.

If there really is a key to making a young, hungry and fiercely determined rock act known all over the world, then Wojtek Balczun has discovered it. The guitarist and main riff writer of Chemia doesn't simply rely on his group's obviously tremendous potential and on the wave of euphoria triggered by their 2013 debut album The One Inside. Systematic and focused, Balczun is taking the group unerringly to the second stage of a career which looks extremely promising, true to his credo: this band's got what it takes to make it on an international level, so we've got to position it globally to establish its worldwide presence.

And thanks to Chemia's second album release Let Me, this is exactly what he's set to achieve: all twelve songs are fresh, haunting and dynamic, and on top of that Chemia have succeeded in enlisting optimum support in producer Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Aerosmith, Metallica). The result is extremely powerful and rocks from the very first note of the opener “Fun Gun” to the final chord of the last track, “Send Me The Raven”. If you're still not convinced, just let the album work its magic on you. Satisfaction guaranteed!

"We wanted Let Me to show the real Chemia," Balczun explains. "We agreed with Mike Fraser that the album's sound should be based on the sound of our live shows. That's why there are no compromises or concessions to pop music on Let Me."

The band consciously decided against typical ballads and rigorously cut down on the keyboards, which featured fairly strongly on the debut.

Balczun: "Mike Fraser is the absolute expert when it comes to great guitar sounds. That's why Let Merocks from beginning to end."

All those who worry that the Chemia material may have lost its accessibility in favour of a tougher attitude may rest assured: every one of the twelve tracks is captivating.

"Listening to the album for the very first time, people may get the impression that Let Me has turned out less commercial, but when you hear the tracks a second or third time, you'll discover their great catchiness."

Formed in the Bavarian foothills when the second wave of black metal had grotesquely clawed out of the grave and into the unforgiving light, Dark Fortress benefited from the rotten fruits of right place and right time. Like their black metal peers across Europe, the Germans were a product of a historically mystical environment - imbued consciously or not - and a ritualistically inspired musical movement, and fans, eager to experience their otherworldly din, poured unwavering praise on their debut album, Tales From Eternal Dusk.

For the past two decades, Dark Fortress have gone from strength to strength. Across six full-lengths, the Landshut-based sextet stretched the boundaries of black metal, while remaining pure to the tenets of a genre that pivoted (and continues to do so) solely around the axis of the dark and all that resides hideously inside of it. Over the years members from Dark Fortress joined diverse acts such as Triptykon, ReVamp or Noneuclid which is underlying their prominent position in the black metal scene.

In 2014 Dark Fortress released their seventh and current studio album, Venereal Dawn. Like most previous Dark Fortress albums it is also a concept album. Its nine songs weave a tale of survival, betrayal and sacrifice in an extremely hostile environment: “What happens to life on earth if the fragile laws of nature are altered even by a little bit? How can the human psyche deal with the perspective of inevitable extinction? How far can the human soul be stripped before its essence vanishes completely? Can we contain the implications of forced and radical evolution and the insanity it brings?” Questions raised by Dark Fortress frontman and lyricist Morean on Venereal Dawn.

After their European tour with Secrets Of The Moon and Schammasch, Dark Fortress will play selected shows in 2016. They are already confirmed for Bavarian Battle and Hellfest 2016.

PRIMAL FEAR: New Song

PRIMAL FEAR: New Song 'Bullets & Tears' Available For Streaming

"Bullets & Tears", a brand new song from German power metallers PRIMAL FEAR, can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. The song is taken from the band's new studio album, "Rulebreaker", which will be released on January 29, 2016 via Frontiers Music Srl. The effort will be made available in CD, deluxe CD/DVD and — in collaboration with Soulfood Music in Germany — on vinyl and a special super-limited vinyl edition featuring an eagle head on the vinyl.

PRIMAL FEAR vocalist Ralf Scheepers stated about "Bullets & Tears": "'Bullets & Tears' is a powerful melodic track with a catchy guitar riff and an extraordinary melodic guitar intro, which is backed up by a choir chant later in the song. The story of the track is about a guy and how he went through all ups and downs in his life. He is growing stronger through every task and each disappointment he went through. The time for him has come to take his personal little revenge upon those people who gave him hell... You'll always meet twice in life!"

"Rulebreaker" combines the strongest PRIMAL FEAR moments ever, with a well-balanced typical PRIMAL FEAR trademark riff vibe, crushing songs and some very ambitious musical journeys.

PRIMAL FEAR recently parted ways with Brazilian drummer Aquiles Priester (HANGAR, ANGRA) and replaced him with Francesco Jovino (U.D.O.). In addition, founding PRIMAL FEAR guitarist Tom Naumann — who has been touring with the group for the past couple of years years — has now officially rejoined the band as a full member. Singer Ralf Scheepers says: "We have so much energy, fantastic melodies and a hell of a drum groove on each and every song. There is no doubt that the fans will love it as much as I do! And again we have achieved to combine bombastic and atmospheric orchestral sounds with soaring heavy metal riffs and licks, together with ear-splitting screams and also emotional sequences. We have kept the promise of being a heavy metal band with all the trademarks for which people love PRIMAL FEAR." After the massive "Delivering The Black" world tour, PRIMAL FEAR started the songwriting in spring 2015 and recorded at Hansen Studios in Denmark, with producer/bassist Mat Sinner and engineer Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, PRETTY MAIDS, AMARANTHE). Mat Sinner adds: "We learned a lot during the 'Delivering The Black' sessions and the following world tour. We tried to put this know-how and all the positive energy into the songs and production of 'Rulebreaker'. Working the second time with Jacob Hansen and even recording in his studio, gave another dimension to our sound, plus the recording comeback of founding member Tom Naumann was the right move." Classic and ultra-fresh PRIMAL FEAR have created riff-rockers like the album opener "Angels Of Mercy", and groove monsters "The End Is Near" and "Bullets And Tears", which hit the bulls-eye from the beginning. The album features another untamed speed killer "In Metal We Trust" and the metal anthem and title track "Rulebreaker". The melodic and unique ballad "The Sky Is Burning" shows a different side of PRIMAL FEAR with a new vibe and a monster chorus. And of course, PRIMAL FEAR included again an 11-minute plus prog metal tour de force entitled "We Walk Without Fear", spiced with big orchestral arrangements and complex sound designs. HAZEXPERIENCE Release New Festive Single "Helluva Xmas”

HAZEXPERIENCE Release New Festive Single "Helluva Xmas”

Groove-heavy hard rock quartet HazeXperience today released their holiday single, "Helluva Xmas," available on iTunes, Amazon, and other online music outlets. The raw, raunchy, rollicking rocker features an instantly catchy shout-along chorus and tells the tale of a Christmas like no other.

The band, anchored by original Y&T drummer and founding member Leonard Haze, features vocalist Jeffrey Winslow (Syrym), guitarist Jimmy DK (Byrnie Baker Band, Luvhed), and bassist David Blakely (Sammy’s Good Eye).

"'Helluva Xmas' knocks the usual Christmas music concept on its ear," said Winslow. "This definitely ain't your grandma's Christmas song."

Haze added, "The song is fun, loud, and outrageous, and it rocks. What more could you ask for?"

Haze was also one of the principal songwriters for Y&T, co-writing some of their biggest hits, including "Hurricane," "Black Tiger," "Mean Streak," "Rescue Me," "Dirty Girl," "Forever," and MTV staple "Summertime Girls." With Y&T, Haze headlined shows featuring opening acts such as Van Halen, Mötley Crüe, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, as well as touring the world alongside such acts as AC/DC, Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, and Rush. He subsequently recorded and performed with the likes of Ronnie Montrose, Tony Iommi, Ian Gillan, and many others.

Winslow is best known for his work as the lead vocalist for Syrym, featured on songs such as "Ugly On The Inside," "Foul Mouth Blues," and "What I'm Trying To Say."

Jimmy DK has served as both guitarist and bassist with acts like the Byrnie Baker Band, Luvhed, and others, and has opened for artists such as the Chambers Brothers and Elvin Bishop.

Blakely has played bass with members of Levert, Dazz Band, and George Clinton, and has performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
