Dutch Stoner Metallers OBESE Release “Red As The Sun” Music Video

Dutch Stoner Metallers OBESE Release “Red As The Sun” Music Video

Dutch stoner metallers, Obese, have released a new video for the track "Red As The Sun”, taken from the album Kali Yuga, released by Argonauta Records in June 2015 on CD/DD.

Obese hail from Holland, they are authors of a crunchy, catchy, powerful and above all heavy as hell sound. Bringing the groove back into stoner and feeding your appetite with fat tunes that will leave you hungry for more. The weight and thickness of sound is being explored one track at a time: corpulency never felt that good. The immense riffage in a vast landscape of bulldozing euphony will leave nobody unsatisfied.

Hungary’s ANN MY GUARD Pay Tribute To Silent Hill Video Game Series With “Promise” Single; Audio Streaming

Hungary’s ANN MY GUARD Pay Tribute To Silent Hill Video Game Series With “Promise” Single; Audio Streaming

Hungarian doll/melodic metal band, Ann My Guard, have released a brand new cover song. "Promise" is a tribute to the Silent Hill video game series composer and musician, Akira Yamaoka.

Frontwoman Eszter Anna Baumann states: ”The atmosphere of the entire game, the meaning behind the story and the sounds that Mr Yamaoka presents in the game have been deeply inspiring me since I first played Silent Hill. I think both the game and Ann My Guard have many things in common, for example, I think about our music as an escape from reality to somewhere else, maybe to a higher state of mind, where you can see your soul as a revealing mirror. I just simply cannot describe how Silent Hill has been so effective to me. I've always thought if Ann My Guard is ever gonna make a cover song, that will be for a special one. I can proudly say that we could totally reach our goal, because we didn't only record the melody of "Promise (reprise)" but also added our own musical taste to it, with some extra parts and the lyrics.”

Besides releasing this new single, the band is keenly preparing for their first European tour, which is starting in October.

AEROSMITH Bassist TOM HAMILTON Talks Draw The Line - "That Album Was A Really Tough Time In Our History"; New One On One With Mitch Lafon Episode Streaming

AEROSMITH Bassist TOM HAMILTON Talks Draw The Line - "That Album Was A Really Tough Time In Our History"; New One On One With Mitch Lafon Episode Streaming

In episode 127 of One On One With Mitch Lafon, Mitch is joined by legendary Aerosmith bassist, Tom Hamilton.

Tom discusses the band's upcoming Aerosmith Rocks Donington 2014 DVD, work on a new Aerosmith album, the possibility of a solo record, an in-depth look at five of the most famous Aerosmith songs that he's had a hand in writing including "Kings And Queens", "Draw The Line", "Sweet Emotion", "Janie's Got A Gun" and "Sick As A Dog", and much more.

Selected Quotes from the interview:

On a follow-up to Music from Another Dimension!: "I just don't know the timing of when we can get back into it, but I can't imagine it not happening. I would like to go in and do a really concise/tight Aerosmith rock album."

On why he's never done an side project: "What has always been an obsession for me was to be more involved in the writing of an Aerosmith album."

On the making of Aerosmith's classic Draw The Line album: "That album was a really tough time in our history. It was really frustrating."

Greg Prato recently spoke with Hamilton for the Long Island Pulse. They discussed the 40th Anniversary of the band's classic Toys In The Attic record. An excerpt is available below:

Long Island Pulse: Forty years later, how do you view Toys in the Attic?

Tom Hamilton: "That one was really a moment of inspiration for us. Our second album, Get Your Wings, we were under a lot of pressure from the label because they weren’t happy with how our first album (Aerosmith) did. So we got to that project and made a better album. When it came time to do Toys in the Attic, I think we all really wanted to step up and make a statement. The band was really getting good and our producer, Jack Douglas, was someone that we had a lot of faith in—he was becoming a great producer. Everybody just really wanted to go and kick ass. If you look at the changes between Get Your Wings and Toys in the Attic, you can see how much better we were at making records and writing songs."

North American syndicated rock radio show and website, InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History’s Greatest Rock Bands, recently dusted off Toys In The Attic as well...

The perception that Aerosmith had broke with “Dream On” off their debut album is not entirely accurate.  As drummer Joey Kramer recalls to InTheStudio host Redbeard, “The first album really didn’t go anywhere until “Dream On” was released (as a single) three or four times. “Dream On” was a single when this record (Toys InThe Attic) hit.”

It was the third release of “Dream On” as a single, after the release of their second album Get Your Wings, that lit the fuse for Aerosmith’s breakout album Toys In The Attic.  What followed was an monster album selling over 8 million copies and producing the timeless classics “Walk this Way” and “Sweet Emotion”, not to mention the first anti-child abuse song “Uncle Salty”, the circular contagion of “No More, No More”, a swingin’ cover of Bullmoose Jackson’s bawdy, “Big Ten Inch” and the riff rock title track “Toys In The Attic”.

Steven Tyler, Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford take us back to this critical moment in history where Aerosmith began their rise as America’s greatest hard rock band. Tune in at this location.

CRADLE OF FILTH Frontman DANI FILTH Versus God In Jesus Is A Cunt Shirt Controversy - "It Worked Out Okay For You; We Kept Your Name Alive"

CRADLE OF FILTH Frontman DANI FILTH Versus God In Jesus Is A Cunt Shirt Controversy - "It Worked Out Okay For You; We Kept Your Name Alive"

New Zealand-based Stuff.com has picked up a thread launched in June regarding the enduring legacy of Cradle Of Filth's infamous "Jesus Is A Cunt" shirt, which is celebrating its 22nd birthday this year. An excerpt from their interview with frontman Dani Filth is available below:

"The premise behind the shirt, remember we were young, ... it was more of an anarchic thing more than anything else. Jesus is there because we were looking for a mythological character to sum up the apathy ... that anarchic statement. The religious side of it was obviously there to stir up a bit of controversy at the time but when those shirts were first introduced we were just a small band starting out."

He pauses for a moment before uttering the word "silly."

"It seems strange that 20 odd years on it keeps resurfacing in such a manner," Filth says of that t-shirt. "I think it will always be a bit of a bugbear for the band but at the end of the day it's something that happened. When I get to the pearly gates I'll have to explain my way out of it."

What will you say, Mr Filth?

"You know what, it worked out okay for you – we kept your name alive."

COREY TAYLOR Confirms He Recorded

COREY TAYLOR Confirms He Recorded 'Nine Or Ten' Songs With VELVET REVOLVER

Corey Taylor of SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR was the singer that came "closest" to replacing Scott Weiland in VELVET REVOLVER, but he was eventually ruled out of the running by Slash, who felt that Corey's voice "didn't have certain elements" the guitarist thought it needed.

VELVET REVOLVER has still not found a new singer following its April 2008 split with Weiland and is more or less on hiatus, although it reunited with the former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman for a short one-off performance at a benefit concert in January 2012.

While the team-up of Taylor with VELVET REVOLVER never officially took off, VELVET guitarist Slash did confirm that the band got together with Taylor to jam and even record some new material.

During the latest installment of Loudwire's "Wikipedia: Fact Or Fiction?" segment, Corey was asked about the music he reportedly wrote and recorded with VELVET REVOLVER and whether the recordings will ever see the light of day.

"I think it was ten [songs that I recorded with VELVET REVOLVER]… I think it was… It's either nine or ten," Taylor said (see video below). "There was a handful that we wrote, and then there was a handful that I kind of rearranged a little bit based on music that they already had. So it wasn't music that we kind of wrote together. I mean, there were, like, three… I think there was three songs that we wrote together, which were actually pretty sweet. And then the rest of it was me writing to music that they already had that I thought was pretty cool."

He continued: "Yeah, the world will probably never hear 'em, which is fine, because, I mean, I would want another crack at kind of working on some of that stuff anyway. But that will never happen, so it's…. You know, it's all good."

Last October, Slash was asked during a question-and-answer session with Australia's Rolling Stone magazine why Taylor and former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach weren't the right singers for VELVET REVOLVER, and which vocalist came closest to replacing Weiland, Slash said: "Well, Sebastian [auditioned for the VELVET REVOLVER singer spot] before Scott [became a member of the band]. And I love Sebastian, but, if you can imagine, it sounded sort of like 'SKID N' ROSES.' It was cool, but you knew that everybody who heard it was gonna be, like, 'Oh, yeah, that makes sense.' It was a little bit too predictable. But as far as [vocalists that we have auditioned] since Scott [was dismissed from the band], probably [the one that came] the closest [to landing the gig] would have to be Corey, 'cause everybody was rallying for him. And I love Corey to death, but something about it was just a little bit too… What's the word for it? You know how Corey sings. It's a very macho kind of thing. But it didn't have certain elements I thought it needed. So we just didn't go down that path. And that was the closest so far."

Back in January 2012, Taylor was asked by ESPN.com what he felt he would have brought to the VELVET REVOLVER team had he quarterbacked it. Taylor replied: "What I would have brought to VELVET REVOLVER would have been more of the attitude that I think they wanted from Scott, but they got the negative side of it, you know what I'm saying? Scott, to me, has always been the guy who — he's much more interesting when he's being a dick to other people than he is onstage, to be honest. I mean, he does the lizard weird-thing-dance and everything, but that gets old after a while. When you need that strong frontman, he just really didn't do it because he was too busy just being into himself instead of engaging the audience."

Corey added, "So I would have tried to basically build a bridge between what [the members of VELVET REVOLVER] had with Axl [Rose during their time with GUNS N' ROSES] and what they had with Scott, but with a little more good time feel to it — 'cause I can have an attitude and still smile, all fucking day. I think, in a lot of ways, they could have relaxed a little bit, knowing that they wouldn't have to worry about, What's the singer going to do? Are we going to be able to go onstage on time? Are we going to be able to play our show without a fit being thrown? Are we going to be able to play the songs the way they were written?

"I am a firm believer in, give the fans what they want. Do what you do, but give the fans what they want. They're the whole reason that you are where you are, and they deserve every fucking bit that you can give them."

Slash admitted in an interview that he was the main reason Taylor didn't get the frontman job, explaining, "It just didn't seem to fit right to me. And he's great, and I love Corey, but it didn't seem like the answer to the VELVET REVOLVER problem."

Taylor told a Canadian radio station after hearing of Slash's comments, "I guess it just wasn't working for him, which... He's Slash and he's entitled to have that, and I'm not gonna argue with him. But it was cool to just be able to get together and jam with those guys and I made some really cool friends."

MAYHEM FESTIVAL Co-Founder JOHN REESE To Metal Community:

MAYHEM FESTIVAL Co-Founder JOHN REESE To Metal Community: 'It Is Vitally Important That We All Unite, Not Divide'

John Reese (pictured with SLAYER's Kerry King), the co-founder of the annual Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, has penned an "open letter" to the heavy metal community, asking everyone to support the genre and not continue to make divisive comments regarding the event.

After Reese's partner, Kevin Lyman, said in an interview earlier in the month that aging metal bands demanded big fees to be on bills and that there was no community spirit, like that which exists in the punk scene, guitarist Kerry King of SLAYER — which is headlining this year's Mayhem festival — criticized the organization of the event and blamed the festival's low attendances on the fact that the 2015 Mayhem lineup is "so shitty."

Earlier today, Reese released the following open letter:

"Dear fans of heavy music and metal bands everywhere,

"We are one community. It is vitally important to our community that we all unite, not divide! Without each other's support, the only thing that suffers is metal as a genre!

"In the midst of our most challenging year in eight years of producing the festival, my partner Kevin Lyman made some comments that he has subsequently apologized for.

"Kevin is an honorable man and has given everything he has to the presentation of music and expanding the profile of countless artists! I am proud of our partnership and our results throughout the years! We have always tried to deliver a platform for artists to expand their fan base and the genre as a whole!

"In saying this, various people involved with the 2015 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival and some from the metal community have understandably made some divisive comments regarding the event. The event has suffered as a result of these many comments. What's done is done, but I am here to say that heavy metal music is alive and well! I shouldn't have to remind everyone that we as a culture have faced ostracism from the mainstream for decades and we should not let over-sensationalized media hype separate us! I think we are ALL tired of all of the bullshit. I know I am!

"Let's move the conversation forward supporting each other not dividing.

"Thank you to SLAYER, KING DIAMOND, HELLYEAH, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA and every single one of the incredibly talented bands that have performed this year on Mayhem!

I would also just like to add a few other choice things for any media conspiracy headlines:

"'Can't we all just get along!' – Rodney King 1994

"Marilyn Manson did NOT cause Columbine!

"Obama is not the Antichrist!! And he ain't taking our guns!

"Justin Bieber….. uhhhh… no comment!

"Heavy metal does not cure cancer, but it is good to fuck to.

"Hopefully I will see many of you at Knotfest 2015!"

Lyman told the Detroit Free Press about the festival's 2015 lineup, which also includes KING DIAMOND, HELLYEAH and THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA: "It was the best available for what we had to work with. We had pressure to keep the package at a certain price and make that work, and we had pressure on headliner expenses." In addition, there are fewer acts on the bill and only two stages this time around because "we had to condense it," Lyman said. "The expenses of putting on those shows had gotten high, so we had to push it all into the concourses. They [venues] don't want to build a fence outside [for third and fourth stages] anymore. Those things cost money."

METAL ALLEGIANCE: Fourth Studio Webisode Feat. TESTAMENT

METAL ALLEGIANCE: Fourth Studio Webisode Feat. TESTAMENT's CHUCK BILLY

METAL ALLEGIANCE — the all-star metal band consisting of a rotating cast of musicians, including members of MEGADETH, TESTAMENT — which debuted on MOTÖRHEAD's Motörboat cruise last year, and performed at this year's NAMM show and on the ShipRocked cruise, will release its self-titled debut album on September 18 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment.

Brought together by METAL ALLEGIANCE principal partner Mark Menghi, the project's original material came together from the creative minds of David Ellefson of MEGADETH, Mike Portnoy of THE WINERY DOGS, and Alex Skolnick from TESTAMENT, alongside Menghi. The four writers then reached out through their metal rolodexes to a diverse lineup of performers, each adding their own personal musical stamp to the collection of nine original songs.

"Metal Allegiance" contains appearances by:

* Philip H. Anselmo (PANTERA, DOWN)* Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX)* Chuck Billy (TESTAMENT)* D. Randall Blythe (LAMB OF GOD)* Rex Brown (PANTERA, DOWN, KILL DEVIL HILL)* Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (GUNS N' ROSES)* Phil Demmel (MACHINE HEAD)* Alissa White-Gluz (ARCH ENEMY)V* Matthew K. Heafy (TRIVIUM)* Gary Holt (EXODUS)* Jamey Jasta (HATEBREED)* Chris Jericho (FOZZY)* Andreas Kisser (SEPULTURA)* Misha Mansoor (PERIPHERY)* Mark Osegueda (DEATH ANGEL)* Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH)* Doug Pinnick (KING'S X, KXM)* Troy Sanders (MASTODON)* Cristina Scabbia (LACUNA COIL)* Steve "Zetro" Souza (EXODUS)* Ben Weinman (THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN)

The fourth studio webisode for "Metal Allegiance", which covers the recording of the track "Can't Kill The Devil" (featuring TESTAMENT's Chuck Billy, MACHINE HEAD's Phil Demmel and SEPULTURA's Andreas Kisser) is available below.

"I am very honored to be a part of the METAL ALLEGIANCE record. The track 'Can't Kill The Devil' was fun and challenging for me," stated TESTAMENT vocalist Chuck Billy. "Working outside of TESTAMENT lets me try different things with my voice. I think the fans are going to be singing along to this track for sure." MACHINE HEAD guitarist Phil Demmel added: "So stoked to throw down with legends!"

Blythe said: "When LAMB OF GOD asked Alex Skolnick to rip a guest solo on 'Ashes Of The Wake', it was a big deal to us to have one of the legends of our scene play on our record. Much to my amazement, years later he returned the request, and it's an even bigger deal to me to be asked on a peer level to contribute to a project with so many stellar players. I was honored to be chosen. 'Gift Of Pain' rips! Play it LOUD!"

Mike Portnoy added: "I could not be any more excited or proud of the METAL ALLEGIANCE album... It's everything I've always dreamed of and hoped for and a hundred times more!"

From the blistering opening of album starter "Gift Of Pain" to the final notes of closer "Pledge Of Allegiance", it is clear this collective have created something special. The diversity of the individual tracks is apparent through each musical collaboration.

The standard edition CD of "Metal Allegiance" will feature the nine original songs. A digipak edition will be available that features an all-star tribute to Ronnie James Dio with a cover of his classic song "We Rock" as well as a 45-minute behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of the album. A double vinyl version will also be available that will feature all 10 songs as well.

Upon hearing the demos and seeing the list of performers, he felt it was something he wanted to be a part of.

"I am incredibly fortunate to be able to work with legendary musicians and personal heroes like David Ellefson, Alex Skolnick and Mike Portnoy, as well as METAL ALLEGIANCE founder Mark Menghi," he said. "These guys wrote an amazing and diverse record that is 100 percent pure metal, and lined up some killer guest vocalists and lead guitarists to bring it home in an epic, shredding fashion — just the leads on this record alone will blow people away!" he said. "Perhaps the coolest part of all is that unlike similar projects in the past that existed as studio-only creations, METAL ALLEGIANCE were a touring entity first and have now organically evolved into a studio band that makes albums. I am very grateful to these guys for choosing me and the Nuclear Blast team as the vehicle to bring their music to the metal masses."

Stemming from an initial idea in 2011, METAL ALLEGIANCE was born as a way to unite a collection of hard rock and heavy metal's most notable musicians in a setting born under one ideal, a love of music and performing. In 2015, that ideal still holds true and has become the foundation for everything METAL ALLEGIANCE; furthered with the release of the upcoming debut album. While the lineup may change, the passion, the energy and the emotion all remain the same. METAL ALLEGIANCE is more than just a record or a concert, it’s an experience and a lifestyle.

Previous participants in METAL ALLEGIANCE live events have included Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown (PANTERA); Joey Belladonna, Frank Bello, Charlie Benante and Scott Ian (ANTHRAX); Gary Holt, Kerry King and Dave Lombardo (SLAYER), Chuck Billy (TESTAMENT); Troy Sanders (MASTODON); and Andreas Kisser (SEPULTURA). These unforgettable events have also spawned surprise appearances by the likes of Geezer Butler (BLACK SABBATH), Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee (MOTÖHEAD), Steve Vai and Billy Sheehan (THE WINERY DOGS).

Portnoy previously told MikePortnoyWarriors.com about METAL ALLEGIANCE: "For me, I'm getting to do the full-blown, double-bass shredding drumming that I've only been able to hint at with DREAM THEATER or with AVENGED or with ADRENALINE MOB. So now it's a full-blown album. And the whole album is not thrash. I mean, this album is really kind of the history of metal; there's moments that are early metal, like very [BLACK] SABBATH-esque, and then there's moments that are full-on mid-'80s thrash — EXODUS, SLAYER, early METALLICA, 'Kill 'Em All' METALLICA — so there's a good chunk that's very, very much like that. And then there's moments that get more into '90s type of ALICE IN CHAINS sort of stuff. So it's almost a good history-of-metal sort of album. But I definitely have gotten my metal chops in. It's been fun. It's been really, really cool. I can't wait for people to hear this album."

Regarding how he fits alongside other METAL ALLEGIANCE members, Portnoy said: "To me, METAL ALLEGIANCE is… it's the ultimate hang. And, for me, it's awesome, because I'm really the only guy on the roster that's not normally in a thrash or metal band; I come from a kind of different world. So, on the outside, it may look weird that I do this, but I've always been the biggest metal fan through and through. I grew up listening to the same stuff as all these guys — we all grew up listening to [BLACK] SABBATH and [JUDAS] PRIEST and [IRON] MAIDEN and KISS and AC/DC and MOTÖRHEAD — so I have the same musical background as these guys. And once all the guys in METAL ALLEGIANCE were coming up — in MEGADETH and SLAYER and PANTERA and ANTHRAX — I was coming up around the same time as well, just in a different genre. But these guys were always my friends; I was always hanging out with the ANTHRAX guys and the PANTERA guys… whatever. I felt a close kinship to all the guys in this thrash world, and they became my friends. So, with METAL ALLEGIANCE, for me, it's a natural thing to be involved with these guys. All these guys are great guys, great friends. We love jamming together, and the whole METAL ALLEGIANCE thing is just… You know, we're fans. When we're up on stage playing this stuff, we're as much fans as the people on the other side, in the audience. We're on the side of the stage headbanging and cheering everybody on and having a good time. So that's what it's about: it's just metal by metal guys who are still metal fans."

"We are very excited about this release,” says vocalist Levi Benton. “Not only have we been working on this record for almost a year but we recorded it with our old friend Joey Sturgis who did our first 2 records and really brought out the best in us. This record is about how the last two years have tested us on many levels and how we have come through it all stronger and better. That's where the title comes from, because we are Deathless!”

Miss May I’s new record is not only a turning point for the band’s career it’s also a return to form. Since their inception in 2007, they’ve steadily amassed a worldwide army of fans with four records, the last three of which have charted higher with each consecutive release. With Deathless, the band has never sounded more aggressive, while remaining as accessible as always. All roads have led to this point in the band’s burgeoning career. SOILWORK: First Part Of

SOILWORK: First Part Of 'The Ride Majestic' Documentary

"The Ride Majestic", the tenth studio album from Sweden-based melodic death metal experts SOILWORK, will be released worldwide on August 28 via Nuclear Blast.

In preparation for the CD's release, SOILWORK has created a two-part mini-documentary inviting fans and newcomers alike to take an inside look at the band's history.

In part one, which can be seen below, vocalist Björn "Speed" Strid gives a personal account of what has shaped SOILWORK as the one of the greatest European metal bands in modern music.

Strid states: "'The Ride Majestic' was one of the first songs we wrote for this album. The intro sets a certain melancholic mood and after that it's all pure melodic mayhem. There's a very epic and anthemic feel to it, which suits the album title perfectly. The lyrics deal with the fear of dying and the art of remaining sane while you're still alive. Not wanting to miss a thing, wanting to embrace every moment, and being able to bring it all back on your dying day, with a snap of your fingers. It's also a tribute to the ones we've lost and the comfort of hoping that they will catch us when we fall, on the other side. We believe that, if there is an afterlife, this song would be the soundtrack to that journey. It deals with the acceptance of life and death and possibly everything between and beyond."

Joining SOILWORK on tour in support of the effort will be new bassist Markus Wibom, formerly of Helsingborg hardcore group HEARTS ALIVE. Wibom replaces longtime bandmember Ola Flink, who has amicably left the group to focus on other endeavors. Wibom has been a personal friend of the band for many years and has previously toured with SOILWORK as a guitar tech and lighting designer. Wibom made his live debut with SOILWORK in Stockholm on April 30. Strid states: "We all, sooner or later, come to a crossroad in our lives when our focus of being fueled by the past is just as strong as our visions of the future and we have to make that incredibly hard decision. Where do I go now?

"Flink will forever be a symbol for SOILWORK and of all we were and still are about. That being said, we all could sense that he eventually would come to the above mentioned crossroad. He understandably and respectfully chose to step down. "So, where do WE go now? Let me introduce you to one of the finest and most stand-up people I know: Markus Wibom. He's been a longtime friend and is an overall multi-instrumental amazing musician. He's been with us before, on past world tours. He's also an amazing character and I couldn't think of a better person to fill Flink's shoes, which indeed are very big… literally. (Markus's shoe size is actually even bigger, if anybody wants to know)

"Anyway, as much as I will miss Flink, I'm just as excited to tour the world with one of my absolute best friends.

"Thank you, Flink; you will forever rule. Thank you, Markus, for taking this on. I know you will blow people's minds, once the world tour of 'The Ride Majestic' commences.

"Please give Markus a very warm welcome, everyone!" Wibom adds: "It's a great honor and a true pleasure to play with such skilled musicians and amazing people! It's going to be awesome to share the stage with those guys after all these years on the road together, and with the new record coming up — it absolutely kills!" Catch Wibom out on tour with SOILWORK on the band's upcoming European headline tour, dubbed "The Tour Majestic", with support from HATESPHERE. The European dates will follow SOILWORK's upcoming U.S. tour with SOULFLY, DECAPITATED and SHATTERED SUN, in addition to several European summer festival dates coming up soon.

New Song Premiere: HATCHET

New Song Premiere: HATCHET's 'The World Beyond'

San Francisco Bay Area thrashers HATCHET will release their third studio album, "Fear Beyond Lunacy", on October 30 via The End Records. The follow-up to 2013's "Dawn Of The End" marks the recording debut of the new HATCHET lineup behind founding member, vocalist and lead guitarist Julz Ramos: Clayton Cagle on guitar, Kody Barba on bass, and Ben Smith on drums. The new members have injected the band with a surge of raw energy, and fans of HATCHET will be satisfied with this revived enthusiasm laid into the recordings. Ramos said: "The faster, thrashier tracks hit harder than ever before, while the melodic stuff is catchier and we've even experimented with some heavier, slower tempos."

The "Fear Beyond Lunacy" song "The World Beyond" can be streamed in the YouTube clip below.

Said Ramos: "We felt 'The World Beyond' was a good all around track to introduce fans to the new album. It has a good mixture of both fast and mid-tempo pacing with some cool gang chants in the verse. It isn't the fastest or the most melodic on the album either, so we wanted people to get a taste but not give away the whole brewery up front. It only leads to good things from here!"

Regarding the "Fear Beyond Lunacy" cover, Ramos said: "The artwork was done by Andrej Bartulovic from All Things Rotten, who also did our previous album cover for 'Dawn Of The End'. The artwork depicts what I see us becoming as a modern society. A society of fear-engrossed, media-addicted slaves. We are constantly hooked on what our media and TVs are feeding us to believe to be true and what we should be afraid of today, tomorrow, next month/year etc. I feel this is particularly true with Americans. There is always some big conspiracy happening or natural disaster predicted by someone hundreds of years ago that everyone in some form or another seems to live their lives in fear of. It's getting out of hand, and that's what this picture represents; someone who is ultimately driven insane by this and where we can all be heading if we are not careful."

"Fear Beyond Lunacy" track listing:

01. Where Time Cannot Exist02. Living In Extinction03. Lethal Injustice04. In Fear We Trust05. Killing Indulgence06. Dead And Gone07. Tearing Into Hell08. Prophet Of Delusion09. The World Beyond10. Frozen Hell (bonus track)11. Awaiting Evil (bonus track) **

** Available only with purchase of vinyl edition

"Fear Beyond Lunacy" can b pre-ordered at www.theomegaorder.com/hatchet.

After releasing two demos, HATCHET's debut album, "Awaiting Evil", was made available in mid-2008 via Metal Blade Records. The CD was well received by thrash enthusiasts around the globe and proved a great beginning for the band. Since the release of the debut, HATCHET has completed three full DIY U.S. tours and has shared the stage with SOILWORK, JEFF LOOMIS, THREAT SIGNAL, BLACK TIDE, CELLADOR, EXMORTUS and FLOTSAM AND JETSAM.

GEHTIKA Launch Music Video For “One Night: Seven Sins”

GEHTIKA Launch Music Video For “One Night: Seven Sins”

Midlands, UK-based extreme metal quintet, Gehtika, have released a video for their new single, “One Night: Seven Sins”, the track from their forthcoming release, A Monster In Mourning, slated for release on August 17th. The band once again teamed up with Wil Henry of Silent Syndicate Productions, someone who Gehtika had worked with on their “Impossible Question” music video.

Vocalist Anthony Knight comments, "The whole album follows a dark fantasy tale and “One Night: Seven Sins” is the opening track and the catalyst for all the events that follow.

"There are three characters in this track; The Prince (who's played by Prok from Morgue Orgy), The Serving Girl & Lady Morgana Mai and none of them get off to a particularly good start! It’s two nights before The Prince and Lady Morgana are due to be wed, but the Prince is a bit of a 'playboy' and decides to have his way with The Serving Girl (naughty!) For reasons unknown at this point in the story Morgana, during her sleep, she is given sight of these deceitful events unfolding and awakes 'with a panic and a hellish fright'. A grimoire lays at the foot of her bed; open and inviting, she’s drawn to it and begins to read.

"In her anger and emotionally fragile state she reads through the hateful curses of the grimoire and condemns the shallow, devious Prince to life both faceless and nameless… much to the shock of both the Prince and the Serving Girl, who flees at the sight of his face falling away.

"Morgana becomes consumed by the corruption and power of the book, 'transcending humanity'. The spell convinces the Prince that the Serving Girl is to blame, so he will relentlessly hunt poor innocent peasant girls in his obsessive quest to put the culprit to the pyre and lift the curse… only with every innocent life he takes, Morgana’s new powers will grow.

“In the video we have Bryanne (who plays Lady Morgana Mai), as herself to begin with, entering a darkened empty room and then suddenly getting these flashes of distant memories, which aren’t her own. The band effectively 'narrate' the story while Bryanne becomes possessed by the visions; reliving Morgana’s transcendence from a woman scorned to a corrupted witch… and it would appear that even after her visions have ceased, Morgana perhaps hasn’t…

"Myself and Topher co-directed certain scenes but all credit really needs to go to Wil – he’s done a fantastic job getting the right shots, the feel of the song and the editing is fantastic!"

"The artwork was created by an insanely talented friend of ours, Scott Davidson," states Knight. "We worked with him on our Impossible Question EP and the 'Stack The Pyres' single so, as with the Owen Davies, our album producer, we had to go back to him for this."

"Infinitely talented and a true gent to work with; Scott is amazing at creating fantasy artwork so we knew this would be a project he'd really get stuck into. Myself and our guitarist Scott [Allen] met up with him to go through the story, lyrics and overall concept and he went away and created a bunch of sketches which we really struggled to choose from! We eventually/reluctantly managed to narrow it down though and he's produced the album artwork depicting the Prince character (aka the 'Monster In Mourning') plus two other pieces which are only available in the limited edition version of the album."

Tracklisting:

“Apollyon”
“One Night: Seven Sins”
“Step Forth From The Darkness”
“Stack The Pyres”
“Empire In Decay”
“A Monster In Mourning”
“Reckoning”
“The Massaquerade”
“Shepherd Of Erebus”
“The Fiend Staring Back At Me”
“A Halo Of Crows”

A Monster In Mourning follows a concept the band had initially explored on previous single release ‘Stack The Pyres’ (which has been re-recorded for the album).

"As a band, this album is a big deal!" exclaims Anthony. "We've wanted to get another album under our belts for some time; we had a relatively quiet 2014, except for being given the opportunity to play the Sophie Lancaster Stage at Bloodstock (which was amazing!) so although we've been desperate to put out a new release we certainly didn't want to rush it! We put in a ton of time at the studio writing (some may say too much time...) and dissected every bit of every track until we were confident they were perfect. A massive amount of time and effort has gone into making this; we wanted to create something special that we and our fans can all be really proud of."

"Personally, this album has been huge amount of fun to write and has allowed me to try a few things, both lyrically and creatively, that I've always wanted to try! Not only have I had the opportunity to make every track part of the story, but I've been able to flesh out all of the characters in the book, something I've really enjoyed and am extremely proud of - I can't wait for people to hear what we've created musically and also get immersed in the story... hopefully everyone enjoys reading the lyrics and story as much as we did writing it all!"

IRON MAIDEN

IRON MAIDEN's JANICK GERS On 'The Book Of Souls': 'There's All Types Of Different Songs On This Album'

IRON MAIDEN guitarist Janick Gers spoke to Glide Magazine about the band's forthcoming double album, "The Book Of Souls", which will be released globally on September 4 through Parlophone Records (Sanctuary Copyrights/BMG in the U.S.A.).

Regarding what it was like making the new CD in the months prior to the announcement that MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson had a cancerous tumor on his tongue and would have to undergo extensive medical treatment, Gers said: "Actually, nobody knew that Bruce was ill when we did the album. We put the album together between September and early December and Bruce was singing fantastic. In fact, he was staying with me and we were staying in the same hotel — the rest of the band were in different places — so we were going out and having a drink and a chat about how things were going. We were really happy with the album and his voice was sounding great and he was his usual bubbly self — excited about the album and we were having great fun. It wasn't until afterwards when he got back to England that he said he got an abscess, which he's had before and he had a couple of teeth taken out, and it came back. It was only then he said to me, 'I've got this abscess back.' He couldn't drink because he was on antibiotics and I thought that was strange because he said that last year. I didn't have any clue — nobody had any clue — and then we got a message from Andy Taylor, one of our managers, who told me what happened. I was in shock, because Bruce was singing incredibly well."

He continued: "Obviously we had to just scrap everything for this year. We had a tour booked, and we said forget that. Bruce was very positive, he found it very early, and the doctor told him it was going to be curable. It was on his tongue, nowhere near his vocal cords, and he's in the clear now. I saw him a couple of weeks ago and he was looking good. He was still a bit thin from his chemo; he's not back to running a 10K yet, but he looks fine, he's talking fine. I don't know what his singing voice is like, because he's had radiotherapy on his throat, so obviously his throat will be quite swollen. But when we did the album we had no idea about any of this; it only became apparent after we got to the end of the album. So it didn't affect the album in that way, it's just affected this year and the fact that we won't be touring."

Asked why it has taken IRON MAIDEN so long to release a double album, Gers said: "This is a time when people's attention spans are so limited, they're so small and they've got the attention span of a gnat. This is a triple album in actual fact — it's a triple vinyl album and a double CD. We just do what we want to do and we've always done that — we always kind of fight against the tide. It wasn't that we set out to make a double album; we just brought so many ideas into the studio and they were all good ideas. Some of the songs weren't that long when they came in, but they ended up that long when we finished them. Everybody always brings in probably an hour's worth of music. You might only want to use 15 minutes of it, but you've got an hour of stuff that's really good. It's indicative of how creative everybody in the band is. This band's been going a long time and we never have to scrape around because there are always so many ideas to use — melodies, tunes, themes. It just ended up we had 11 songs in 92 minutes, which is quite too long for a single album. I think it's good; we just come in and try different things, and we never restrict ourselves in terms of melodies and tunes. If it's long, it ends up long, and it's as simple as that. If it feels right, that's what it is. This album just dictates where we are right now in 2015. We're not a band that looks backwards, we always look forward and we're always trying to develop new ideas, new strategies, new attacks of songs, and taking songs down different pathways. And I think this album proves that we're still valid; the songs are powerful and edgy. There's all types of different songs on this album and there's almost something for everybody — classically influenced, jazz influenced, rock and blues influenced — it's all there and it's just indicative of what the band's about."

Read the entire interview at Glide Magazine .

A listening party for "The Book Of Souls" will be held on September 3 at Rock N Roll Ribs, the barbecue restaurant owned by MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain and close friend Mitch Tanne, in Coral Springs, Florida.

"The Book Of Souls" will include "Empire Of The Clouds", an 18-minute track penned by Dickinson. The CD was recorded in Paris, France with producer Kevin "Caveman" Shirley in late 2014, with the finishing touches added earlier this year.

SLAYER

SLAYER's PAUL BOSTAPH: 'I Like To Buy The Music That I Listen To'

HollywoodChicago.com conducted an interview with SLAYER drummer Paul Bostaph at the July 12 stop of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival in Tinley Park, Illinois. You can now watch the chat below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On the differences between drumming for SLAYER, EXODUS and TESTAMENT:

"With TESTAMENT, it's probably a bit more diverse in terms of thrashing. They still thrash, but not every song is, like, super, super… super, super thrash in terms of me being busy as as a drummer. It's more in-the-pocket thrash. No, that being said, they have Gene Hoglan playing drums for 'em now, and he's taken it way over the top. But with EXODUS, the challenge there was playing Tom Hunting's parts. Tom Hunting's one of the most underrated, legendary thrash metal drummers ever. Other guys have been getting way more credit than he gets, and that guy's probably one of the best, in my opinion. And his style is not an easy style to recreate at all. So playing with EXODUS, the challenge was trying to make it still sound like EXODUS and learn how to play like Tom Hunting, and that's not easy."

On illegal music downloading:

"I'm the kind of person who likes to get stuff for free, but I like to buy the music that I listen to, because the artist created it, and they took their time and effort to make it, and if I grab that music for free, then… I'm not stealing from 'em, but I'm not giving anything back for what they gave me. I think what it comes down to now is playing live, and I think that's a good thing. Because if you're a really good live band, people are gonna come see you. I mean, if a million people had our record but we didn't sell a million records, that's still a million people that, at one time or another, probably would come and see us play. Also, if you're great in the studio, but you suck live, that's probably gonna be a problem nowadays. But I don't think we have that problem."

SLAYER's new album, "Repentless", will be released on September 11 via Nuclear Blast. The CD's title track is now on sale digitally virtually everywhere, including on Amazon, iTunes and Google. The artwork was created by Brazilian artist Marcelo Vasco in collaboration with the band's Tom Araya and Kerry King.

"Repentless" was produced by Terry Date, who has previously worked with PANTERA, SLIPKNOT and SOUNDGARDEN.

JUDAS PRIEST

JUDAS PRIEST's ROB HALFORD: 'I'm In This To Make Quality Music That's Going To Stick'

In a brand new interview with MLive, JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford spoke about how the heavy metal scene of today compares to the way it was in the mid '80s, when metal was enjoying its heyday on both sides of the Atlantic.

"It's a different landscape today vs. the past," he said. "There's only one IRON MAIDEN, and only one BLACK SABBATH, of sorts. What we crafted in the '70s and '80s was our feeling. I think it's natural for new metal bands to strive to find their own direction. I personally could look around and see acts like [Jimi] Hendrix, DEEP PURPLE, etc. ... the beginnings of the metal scene, to an extent. We learned from the masters in some respect."

He continued: "To me, it's always been about quality, not quality. I'm in this to make quality music that's going to stick, where you can look back 5-10 years from now and say it still sounds pretty darn good. I'm not dismissing the incredible talent out there now. People are in a band to make their dreams come true, and it's really tough."

JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Glenn Tipton recently said that he was proud to have had an influence on the current crop of up-and-coming artists, many of whom in turn have an impact on PRIEST's work.

He said: "I think there's still some great young bands around. We've got a lot of respect for the younger bands. You can still learn from them, because they're creating new parts of heavy metal. Every year, every decade it changes, but the backbone is still heavy metal."

He added: "If we've inspired some young bands, that's great, and it makes us proud. We're not stupid, we listen to the young bands as well, and we learn from them. We don't copy them, but we get inspired."

JUDAS PRIEST is continuing to tour in support of its latest album, "Redeemer Of Souls", which was released in July 2014. The follow-up to 2008's double-disc concept album "Nostradamus" was billed as a return to JUDAS PRIEST's heavy-metal roots.

"Redeemer Of Souls" sold around 32,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 6 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Video Premiere: CLUTCH

Video Premiere: CLUTCH's 'X-Ray Visions'

"X-Ray Visions", the new video from Maryland rockers CLUTCH, can be seen below. The clip was shot by renowned photographer Dan Winters, who also designed the cover for the band's eleventh studio album, "Psychic Warfare".

Sirius XM's Liquid Metal (Sirius XM channel 40) will premiere the audio track of "X-Ray Visions" throughout its programming from July 29 to July 31.

"X-Ray Visions" is the first single from "Psychic Warfare", which will be released on October 2 via the band's own label Weathermaker Music. The CD was helmed by CLUTCH's longtime producer Machine (LAMB OF GOD, EVERY TIME I DIE) and consists of 12 new tracks.

"The title 'Psychic Warfare' is taken from the track 'X-Ray Visions'," states singer Neil Fallon. "It's a tale about an unnamed protagonist who is forced to seek refuge in a flop house motel. He is hiding from several nefarious psychic forces, the worst of which is his own sleep-deprived paranoia."

According to Fallon, the "X-Ray Visions" lyrical concept was influenced by Philip K. Dick, the science fiction author whose 1968 novel"Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" was the basis for "Blade Runner". Neil said: "[Dick's] general philosophy and questions have always crept into my lyrics, because I share an interest in it. On 'Earth Rocker', 'Crucial Velocity' was definitely a Philip K. Dick song for me. On this record, 'X-Ray Visions' certainly is."

Fallon added that the secluded studio location was the inspiration for the song "A Quick Death In Texas". He explained: "I was staying in a kind of unique, maybe 100-year-old property, by myself. I got spooked out because I come from the East Coast and the suburbs and I was out in the woods. That was the environment that brought out 'A Quick Death In Texas' — and the locals."

"Psychic Warfare" track listing:

01. The Affidavit02. X-Ray Visions03. Firebirds 04. A Quick Death in Texas 05. Sucker For The Witch06. Your Love is Incarceration07. Doom Saloon 08. Our Lady of Electric Light 09. Noble Savages 10. Behold the Colossus 11. Decapitation Blues 12. Son Of Virginia

Regarding the musical direction of "Psychic Warfare", Fallon said: "It's probably faster than 'Earth Rocker'. We wrote it pretty quickly after 'Earth Rocker', so we were, kind of, still in that headspace."

CLUTCH drummer Jean-Paul Gaster told The Aquarian Weekly: "There are some similarities in regards to 'Earth Rocker', and there are some songs on it that are sort of familiar, but we did some different stuff, too. There's stuff that is a little funkier, and there's other stuff that's a little more bluesy. So there's more diversity, I think."

Asked about the creative process in CLUTCH, Jean-Paul Gaster said: "The creative process really hasn't changed all that much. It's really just the four of us getting together and banging out jams, so to speak. We work on one or two parts at a time, and often we set those parts aside and work on something new. We'll do that for several months until we have a large pool of ideas to pull from. As we get closer to the recording process, we start to try to fix some of these parts and make them into songs. Sometimes the songs get cannibalized as well, like one song will sort of eat the other, in a way. And even then we have a lot of songs to choose from, so sometimes songs that we have been working on for months won't even end up on the record."

SLAYER

SLAYER's KERRY KING Joins KING DIAMOND On Stage In Mansfield To Perform MERCYFUL FATE Classic

SLAYER guitarist Kerry King joined KING DIAMOND on stage on July 25 at the Mansfield, Massachusetts stop of this year's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival to perform the MERCYFUL FATE classic "Evil".

Fan-filmed video footage of Kerry's appearance can be seen below.

Kerry King has previously stated that he and fellow original SLAYER guitarist Jeff Hanneman were big fans of MERCYFUL FATE when SLAYER recorded the album "Hell Awaits", so much so that the LP was very influenced by the Danish heavy metal act.

MERCYFUL FATE's last studio album, "9", was released in 1999.

MERCYFUL FATE will be remembered for its unquestionable mark on the history of metal with its innovative sound, complex arrangements, memorable melody, and its influence on bands that later took the genre to new heights.

In 1998, METALLICA paid tribute to MERCYFUL FATE by recording a medley of classic MERCYFUL FATE songs on the album "Garage Inc." Entitled "Mercyful Fate", the medley included parts from "Satan's Fall", "Curse of the Pharaohs", "A Corpse Without Soul", "Into the Coven" and "Evil".

Lars Ulrich of METALLICA (a fellow Dane) played drums on a new version of MERCYFUL FATE's "Return of the Vampire" on the "In the Shadows" album, which came out in 1993.

Asked by Full Metal Jackie if he feels at all uncomfortable when fans share the impact MERCYFUL FATE had on them, King Diamond said: "It's great to hear. I mean, I was very lucky the other day. I went and saw my friends in VOLBEAT play here in Dallas. And ANTHRAX was supporting. I met [ANTHRAX guitarist] Scott Ian before, but I met all of [the ANTHRAX guys] this time around and got to really talk to them. And what an amazing bunch of guys. I mean, really great human beings — nice people. It was amazing. And they just played and put on an amazing show. So it was a very good evening, and it was great to meet [them]. And they also were talking about: 'Hey! Let's do [MERCYFUL FATE's] 'Evil'.' [And I said] 'Okay, I can do 'Evil' in my sleep, so we can do that, if you want to.' And then one of the other guys said: 'Hey, there's a little more to it than just that.' It can quickly go wrong if you have not tested it properly. So some other time we'll do it. But I remember, the drummer [Charlie Benante] said that he could play the entire 'Melissa' album, if need be. So it's nice to hear that people are really that into that old music still."

SLAYER's new album, "Repentless", will be released on September 11 via Nuclear Blast.

Video: KILLSWITCH ENGAGE Performs New Song

Video: KILLSWITCH ENGAGE Performs New Song 'Strength Of The Mind' In Asbury Park

Fan-filmed video footage of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE performing a new song called "Strength Of The Mind" at the July 26 Asbury Park, New Jersey stop of the band's tour with RISE AGAINST can be seen below.

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE singer Jesse Leach recently finished laying down vocals on five songs for the band's forthcoming seventh full-length album. The follow-up to 2013's "Disarm The Descent" is tentatively due in early 2016 via Roadrunner.

Leach wrote in a post on Instagram: "[I am] pretty stoked on the song I just finished. It turned out to be quite unique sonically and lyrically. It's an ode to the road, the trials and triumphs, the friendships and long-distance love."

He continued: "So far this record has a little bit of everything, and I couldn't be happier with it. [I am] also pushing my voice to higher registers and allowing the grit to come through, which definitely suits my style as a vocalist.

"The topics are pretty heavy so far on the first four (even though they are all very different from each other,) so this one rounds it out with a more uptempo sing-along feel (almost punk rock meets '80s metal riffs with double bass for good measure)."

Jesse added: "I truly hope KILLSWITCH ENGAGE fans of all types will be able to find something they dig on this record. That being said, so far I truly feel I've put my everything into this record."

A KILLSWITCH ENGAGE concert film shot on October 31, 2014 at The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts will be included on the band's next DVD release, tentatively due before the end of the year. The performance footage was filmed by the direction team of Ian McFarland and Mike Pecci (FEAR FACTORY, MESHUGGAH) using five Canon C300 cameras outfitted with Zeiss Prime Super Speed Lenses.

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE recently finished recording a new song, "Loyalty", that is featured on the mixtape for HBO's hit fantasy series "Game Of Thrones".

WHITESNAKE/Ex-NIGHT RANGER Guitarist JOEL HOEKSTRA To Release JOEL HOEKSTRA

WHITESNAKE/Ex-NIGHT RANGER Guitarist JOEL HOEKSTRA To Release JOEL HOEKSTRA'S 13 Debut 'Dying To Live'

Joel Hoekstra will release "Dying To Live", the new melodic hard rock studio album from his electrifying new side project JOEL HOEKSTRA'S 13, on October 16 via Frontiers Srl. The currrent guitarist for WHITESNAKE, Hoekstra is best known for his work with NIGHT RANGER, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA and the show "Rock Of Ages". "Dying To Live" features an all-star cast of rockers, including Jeff Scott Soto (vocals), Russell Allen (vocals), Tony Franklin (bass), Vinny Appice (drums), and Derek Sherinian (keyboards). Hoekstra took charge of the creative process by handling the production, songwriting and arranging (music and lyrics). The end result could best be described as hard, melodic, classic rock that is DIO-ish at its heaviest and FOREIGNER-ish at its lightest. "Years ago, I released three solo albums that were mainly instrumental guitar music. I wanted to put something out that showcased my production, writing and playing in the genre that I'm known for, which is melodic, hard rock," explains Hoekstra. "That's when I decided to start what I consider to be my rock side project, JOEL HOEKSTRA'S 13."

"Dying To Live" focuses on struggles, potential pitfalls and the art of overcoming obstacles in life to finally arrive where we are meant to be. The CD was conceived before Hoekstra joined WHITESNAKE, whose lead singer, David Coverdale, gave the album his full blessing.

"David wants his players to spread their wings and fly, and, of course, be ready to rock when WHITESNAKE needs them, which obviously won't be an issue," says Hoekstra. Excited how the new album turned out, Hoekstra is looking forward to the overall reaction from fans and media. "I hope everyone will give it a listen," he says. "I feel it showcases my production, writing and playing in essentially the same genre. The lineup of musicians is stellar! I want to thank everyone for any support in advance. Life is good!" "Dying To Live" track listing: 01. Say Goodbye To The Sun02. Anymore03. Until I Left You04. Long For The Days05. Scream06. Never Say Never07. Changes08. The Only Way To Go09. Dying To Live10. Start Again11. What We Believe12. Kill or Be Killed (bonus track digital download)

An EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for the album is available below. The musicians:

Video Premiere: THE DARKNESS

Video Premiere: THE DARKNESS's 'Last of Our Kind'

Having recently stormed U.K.'s Download festival with a secret set backed with a crowd of barbarians (and a 30-row-strong crowd outside the tent!), British rockers THE DARKNESS unleash a new single on August 21. "Last of Our Kind" is the title track of the band's recent fourth album, which entered the U.K. chart at No. 12 on its release in June. The song has been described as "part VAN HALEN, part WATERBOYS, ALL THE DARKNESS." It features a record-smashing choir of several thousand DARKNESS enthusiasts (The Darkness Army) who each contributed their individual performances using the Internet service. The single, described by one reviewer as "[the track's] effortlessly catchy hooks and righteous leads deliver pure rock perfection," is a stomping rocker which demands hands be thrown in the air (when not playing air guitar on the excellent solo).

For the video, the band decided to go back to the fans and 15 were chosen to come to the video shoot and asked to get "freaky on camera." The result is a very entertaining film which shows THE DARKNESS's audience are as wonderful as the band. Singer Justin Hawkins explained: "Where would we be without our fans? Well, we wouldn't have a video for a start. Or at least, we wouldn't have a video with quite so many brilliant people in it. I'm so proud of them; they never disappoint us."

The album "Last of Our Kind" has received some of the best reviews of THE DARKNESS's career to date, with Classic Rock proclaiming it "a glorious return to form for the flamboyant rockers … They've only gone and made their finest album since 'Permission To Land'" while Total Guitar said: "Their very British blend of battle rock and classy ballads still hits the spot."

THE DARKNESS has announced a U.K. tour for November/December where they will entertain and astonish fans all over the country with their marvelous tunes and killer riffs. A few UK festival spots will also warm them up nicely.

Video: TOM KEIFER And Wife Perform CINDERELLA's 'Don't Know What You Got' At Lycoming County Fair

Fan-filmed video footage of CINDERELLA frontman Tom Keifer and his wife, Nashville singer-songwriter Savannah Snow, performing the CINDERELLA classic "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)" on July 24 at the Lycoming County Fair in Hughesville, Pennsylvania can be seen below (footage filmed and uploaded by Randy Gill).

Savannah wrote and co-produced some of Keifer's debut solo album, "The Way Life Goes", which sold 5,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 78 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released on in April 2013 via Merovee Records (through Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group).

In a 2013 interview with Daily News, Tom stated about his wife: "She is a very talented singer/songwriter in her own right, probably one of the best songwriters I've ever met. She is the co-producer [on 'The Way Life Goes'], and she wrote a lot of the songs on the record."

"The Way Life Goes" was described in a press release as "a raw, introspective look at the roller coaster ride" that has been Keifer's life for the past 25 years. From being told that he would never sing again as a result of a partially paralyzed left vocal cord, to the emotional and personal battles that followed, his solo debut is a story of perseverance, a testament to the power of passion and will, when combined with a true love of music.

SAINT ASONIA Feat. STAIND, Ex-THREE DAYS GRACE Members: New Song

SAINT ASONIA Feat. STAIND, Ex-THREE DAYS GRACE Members: New Song 'Fairy Tale' Streaming

"Fairy Tale", a brand new song from SAINT ASONIA, the new act featuring ex-THREE DAYS GRACE frontman Adam Gontier and STAIND guitarist Mike Mushok, can be streamed below. The track is taken from SAINT ASONIA's self-titled debut album, which will be released on July 31 via RCA. The album is available now for pre-order here; fans who pre-order the album will receive "Fairy Tale", "Live My Life", the band's debut single, "Better Place" and "Blow Me Wide Open", immediately.

SAINT ASONIA recently filmed a video for the song "Better Place" in Los Angeles with director Paul Brown, who has previously worked with MARILYN MANSON, THREE DAYS GRACE, EVANESCENCE, SLIPKNOT, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, AVENGED SEVENFOLD and MÖTLEY CRÜE, among others.

Speaking about the video shoot, Gontier told Styles and Kaytie of the 92.7 QLZ radio station: "It was a great experience. I'm pretty proud of it myself. I co-directed the video with the director Paul Brown. And Paul is someone that I've worked with in the past, and he does great, great stuff. I wrote the treatment and got a chance to co-direct the video, which is something I have always wanted to do. I'm really, really proud of it."

Gontier also spoke about his decision to take on directorial duties for the video himself. He explained: "When you put a single out, you get treatments from a lot of different directors, and we had a few treatments come in, but at the same time, I felt like, just being so close to the song and what it means to me, I felt like maybe I could write something that works best for the song, and it turned out that we gave that a shot and it worked. So it was a really, really cool experience. I learned a lot and hopefully I'll get a chance to do it again in the future."

Regarding the "Better Place" video concept, Gontier said: "It's basically looking out at a few different people in different situations in their lives where they just finally, sort of, stop getting stepped on and end up in a better place. There's a few different ways that people will interpret the video, but it's a really, really cool idea and it's something that I don't think has really ever been done. So, yeah, I'm excited for people to see it and [to see] their reaction, for sure."

The "Better Place" video is expected to be released on July 31.

Produced by Johnny K. (SEVENDUST, DISTURBED, MEGADETH), the majority of "Saint Asonia" was co-written by Gontier and Mushok.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, SAINT ASONIA started out as just Gontier and Mushok writing music together with no plans beyond that. But Gontier told The Pulse Of Radio that the moment arrived when they knew SAINT ASONIA could be a band. "When we got into the studio to record a couple of songs, we recorded three songs, and when they were done, I think that was probably the moment where we were like, 'Okay, so we've just recorded three songs, they turned out really good, we have another 10, let's do this,'" he said. "Obviously, Mike being basically on hiatus from STAIND for who knows how long, it just seemed to make sense."

SAINT ASONIA also includes STUCK MOJO and DARK NEW DAY bassist Corey Lowery and FINGER ELEVEN drummer Rich Beddoe.

The group played its first live show at Rock On The Range in Columbus, Ohio in May.

Gontier has kept a low profile since leaving THREE DAYS GRACE in December 2012. The band replaced him with Matt Walst and recently released a new album called "Human".

Mushok's band, STAIND, has not released new music since 2011 and has no plans to return to the studio. Mushok played briefly in 2013 with ex-METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted in his self-named band.

Beddoe exited FINGER ELEVEN in late 2013.

Lowery's resume includes stints with STUCK MOJO, SWITCHED, STEREOMUD, DARK NEW DAY and most recently EYE EMPIRE.

BUTCHER BABIES:

BUTCHER BABIES: 'Take It Like A Man' Track Listing Revealed

Los Angeles-based metallers BUTCHER BABIES will release their sophomore album, "Take It Like A Man", on August 21 via Century Media. The CD was produced by Logan Mader, who has previously worked with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, DEVILDRIVER, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY and GOJIRA.

"Take It Like A Man" track listing:

01. Monsters Ball02. Igniter 03. The Cleansing04. The Butcher 05. Gravemaker 06. Thrown Away 07. Never Go Back08. Marquee09. Blood Soaked Hero 10. Dead Man Walking11. For The Fight12. Blonde Girls All Look The Same

Regarding the musical direction of BUTCHER BABIES' forthcoming CD, vocalist Carla Harvey said: "The majority of the album is very aggressive thrash metal. On this album, we wanted to go back to our roots, which were aggressive thrash, and ninety percent of the album is that."

Added co-vocalist Heidi Shepherd: "But the thing is we're not ever gonna sacrifice who we are for that. What we're attempting with this is to bring back the metal and the aggression into radio. So we kind of… We merged the two worlds. And radio stations who have heard it so far are impressed and we're very excited for that."

On the topic of the "Take It Like A Man" album title, Carla said: "We all come from different places and backgrounds, but every member of this band had to fight to be the person he or she is today. That's the whole basis for the record. It's not a gender thing. It's the inner strength you have to find in order to pull your boots up and keep moving forward, whatever the situation may be."

While penning lyrics, Harvey and Shepherd also opened up like never before. Blatant, brutal, and (sometimes) belligerent honesty was the only rule.

"You have to dig to get that emotion out," explained Harvey. "Metalheads can sense authenticity. They know when you're real. Everything we write comes straight from the heart and our own experiences. It's not cookie-cutter bullshit."

That openness has already turned countless fans into believers. "Take It Like A Man" espouses an inspiring final word.

"We want to coerce feeling," Shepherd said. "If you're a musician who does that, you've succeeded. We just want to inspire anyone who listens to us — and melt their faces off."

Shepherd stated about the "Monsters Ball" clip: "The moment I spoke with director, Dan Dobi, about the ideas we had for a literal Monsters Ball, he jumped at them and began tossing even more great ideas into the melting pot.

"We wanted to use the swingy feel of the song to create a jazz-type club scene. A Monsters Ball is how we describe the pit.

"Being an adult who always has and STILL thrives in the pit, I've always seen it as a carnival of monsters. Where it doesn't matter what you look like, where you came from, what you do for a living, your sexual orientation, etc. We're all the same monsters there for the same reason; to rock the fuck out!

"This song is about the beautiful, positive energy at a metal show. Too many times, mainstream media makes these shows out to be dangerous and evil, but what they don't know is that we are a big family who in that moment will do anything for each other. A family who rocks together, inevitably stays together. That's our Monsters Ball." Added Harvey: "I always felt that metal music was something that brought all of us misfit kids together. With the lyrics to 'Monsters Ball', we wanted to celebrate that and really paint a picture of the moments that we spend together side by side in the mosh pit, letting the music course through our veins and move us." Stated guitarist Henry Flury: "Musically, the song has a very swingy, fun and energetic feel to it. It's almost something you can dance to. The ballroom vibe seemed perfect for this song and Dan Dobi knocked it out of the park! We had such a blast making this video with all our friends!" Said bassist Jason Klein: "This was by far the most fun I have had making a music video. Everyone got express their inner 'monster.' Felt very comfortable working with Dan Dobi and his team, and I believe he really understood what we were all aiming for with this one."

BUTCHER BABIES will join GWAR and BATTLECROSS across North America from August 25 to September 18.

Video: STEVEN ADLER's Band ADLER Performs GUNS N' ROSES Classics In Peru

Fan-filmed video footage of ADLER, the band led by former GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler, performing on July 23 in Lima, Peru can be seen below.

ADLER is comprised of Adler, frontman Jacob Bunton (LYNAM, MARS ELECTRIC), guitarist Lonny Paul (ADLER'S APPETITE), and bassist Johnny Martin (CHELSEA SMILES).

The band is working on material for its sophomore album for a tentative February 2016 release.

ADLER recently returned to the studio with producer Jeff Pilson (FOREIGNER, DOKKEN) to record one new track, "Life Ain't Gonna.

Steven, who appeared on season two of on the "Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew" show and the first season of the spin-off program "Sober House" back in late 2008 and early 2009, told the "Fox Rocks" show about ADLER: "[Our debut] album 'Back From The Dead' came out, actually, in November 2012. But because of the addiction problems I had, we were not able to tour the record in 2013. In 2014, I just took the whole year off and focused on my sobriety. I got into an AA program, I have a sponsor, I'm doing the steps. I'm doing the work, basically, and giving a big effort, and it's working out great."

He continued: "It's been such a joy to wake up in the morning. My life [just took] a complete 180[-degree turn]. Life's exciting again. And I love coming down to the studio and playing, even if it's just by myself. Sometimes I get bored, and I go, 'Well, it's time to get out of the house.' And I come out and I come and jam for a couple of hours, and it feels great."

Steven Adler was the drummer for GUNS N' ROSES from 1985 to 1990. He was eventually fired from the band due to his drug addiction, which caused him to spiral down into depression and more drug use.

GUNS N' ROSES was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2012. Slash, bassist Duff McKagan and Adler attended the ceremony, while Axl and founding guitarist Izzy Stradlin stayed home.

RAINBOW Keyboardist TONY CAREY Covers "Death Alley Driver" With A SOUND OF THUNDER; Audio Preview Streaming

RAINBOW Keyboardist TONY CAREY Covers "Death Alley Driver" With A SOUND OF THUNDER; Audio Preview Streaming

Tony Carey (Rainbow, Planet P Project) has recorded keyboards on A Sound Of Thunder's cover of the Rainbow classic "Death Alley Driver". The track is exclusively available via A Sound Of Thunder's current Kickstarter campaign which runs through August 17th.  A preview of the track is streaming below:

Despite an imposing catalog as a solo artist and with his own Planet P Project, among metalheads Tony Carey is best known as part of the definitive lineup of Rainbow. Along with Ritchie Blackmore, Ronnie James Dio, Cozy Powell, and Jimmy Bain, Carey performed on the seminal Rising and On Stage albums. Carey's hair-raising synthesizer notes on "Tarot Woman" and haunting Mellotron chords on "Stargazer" are just some of his highlights on Rising, an archetypal cornerstone album of melodic and power metal.

"This is a very cool cover of a very cool song, by a very cool band. So that's all cool..." said Carey.  "As far as my part goes, I threw down some old-school Hammond and played a much-too-fast solo bit on a Minimoog (remember those?) and woke up on the Sunset Strip in pre-Apocalypse 1976... lots of fun, and not something I do very often. Hollywood Swingin'! Thanks for having me."

A Sound Of Thunder guitarist Josh Schwartz added: "Tony is an immensely accomplished musician and producer and I can't overstate how honoured I am to have him on our recording. His work with Rainbow only scratches the surface of his many talents. Fans will know that Tony didn't play on the original version of “Death Alley”. By adding wall-to-wall Hammond organ and his own personal style, Tony has warmed up the song and given it a kick in the pants and a very cool '70s vibe not present on the original."

A Sound Of Thunder, recently announced their new album, Tales From The Deadside, with a Kickstarter campaign that reached full funding in under 24 hours. The new album is a full-length concept album based on Valiant Entertainment's Shadowman comic book series.

The band recently announced the first exclusive KickStarter-only bonus track in their campaign - a cover of Dio’s "Last in Line" featuring Benedictum’s Veronica Freeman. Details on how to get the track can be found here. A sample of the song can be found below:

Tales From The Deadside was recorded at Assembly Line Studios with RIAA-platinum awarded producer Kevin '131' Gutierrez (Shinedown, While Heaven Wept, Raven). Tales From The Deadside is set for release on September 25th and will be available on CD, limited colored vinyl, and in a number of exclusive pre-order packages only on Kickstarter. The standard CD edition of Tales From The Deadside will feature all-new Shadowman cover artwork, while select backers of the Kickstarter campaign can obtain an exclusive cover featuring Shadowman’s arch-nemesis Master Darque.

"The story of Shadowman, his alter-ego Jack Boniface, and the many characters in his world inspired us to create what we believe is our best album to date," said A Sound Of Thunder guitarist Josh Schwartz. "We let the story lead us to places our music has never been before, combining all the elements of supernatural horror, drama, action and adventure found in the comics. Of course everything has gone through our own unique Thunderous filter, and all the familiar ASOT elements will be there, Shadowman's harrowing journey demanded no less!"

A Sound Of Thunder was formed in Washington, DC in 2009. Their most recent album The Lesser Key of Solomon was released on September 9th, 2014 via Mad Neptune Records and debuted at #43 on the Billboard Heatseeker’s Albums chart.
