PORTRAIT Records Cover Version Of Unreleased JUDAS PRIEST Song

PORTRAIT Records Cover Version Of Unreleased JUDAS PRIEST Song

Swedish metal band PORTRAIT has recorded a cover version of a JUDAS PRIEST song that has never been released by the legendary British heavy metal band. The track "Mother Sun" appears on PORTRAIT's CD single "We Were Not Alone", which is being sent out exclusively to subscribers with the May issue of Sweden Rock Magazine.

"When first deciding to record a cover song for a bonus track for this exclusive release, the choice of band was obvious as JUDAS PRIEST is to blame for the birth of PORTRAIT in the first place," says PORTRAIT guitarist Christian Lindell.

"Instead of doing something completely unnecessary, like recording a song that they themselves have already perfected on some of their own album releases, we chose to record 'Mother Sun' as that song for obscure reasons has remained unreleased.

"This JUDAS PRIEST song is only available on two bootleg recordings of poor sound quality, even though it was frequently played live in the mid-'70s.

"The song itself is a fantastic, QUEEN-like epic, with Rob Halford doing one of his most impressive vocal performances ever.

"Even if the style of the song is somewhat different from what we do ourselves, it isn't too far-fetched to believe that a PORTRAIT ballad would sound something along those lines, would we ever write one."

An audio sample of PORTRAIT's version of "Mother Sun" can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below.

For more information, visit www.swedenrockmagazine.com.

PORTRAIT will release its new album, "Crossroads", on April 25 in Europe and April 29 in North America via Metal Blade Records.

The relentless, Swedish heavy metal monster known as PORTRAIT was born in the year 2006 with the intention to exterminate the entire world. After the release of a demo, two singles and their self-titled full-length debut, PORTRAIT released its Metal Blade debut, "Crimen Laesae Majestatis Divinae", in 2011. After numerous tours and festival appearances, the band began to focus on its third album, entitled "Crossroads". The writing and recording process took about a year, and Tore Stjerna of Necromorbus Studio handled the production together with the band.

STRYPER Joined By Ex-DEATH/ICED EARTH Drummer RICHARD CHRISTY On Stage In New York City (Video)

STRYPER Joined By Ex-DEATH/ICED EARTH Drummer RICHARD CHRISTY On Stage In New York City (Video)

Actor, comedian and acclaimed heavy metal drummer Richard Christy (CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED, ICED EARTH, DEATH, LEASH LAW, CONTROL DENIED, BURNING INSIDE) — who currently works for "The Howard Stern Show" — joined Christian hard rockers STRYPER on stage this past Saturday, April 12 at Stage 48 in New York City to perform the track "Sing Along Song". Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below.

STRYPER's new album, "No More Hell To Pay", sold around 9,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 35 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"Second Coming", a collection of re-recorded versions of STRYPER's classic songs, opened with around 4,400 units back in April to land at No. 117.

STRYPER's covers album, 2011's "The Covering", registered a first-week tally of around 4,600 copies to enter the chart at No. 175.

The band's previous collection of new material, 2009's "Murder By Pride", premiered with 5,900 copies to debut at No. 73.

"No More Hell To Pay" was released on November 5, 2013 in North America via Frontiers Records. The effort was made available in two formats — standard CD and deluxe digipak featuring exclusive video content. Produced by STRYPER guitarist/vocalist Michael Sweet himself, the set features some of STRYPER's strongest and heaviest material ever.

"No More Hell To Pay" includes STRYPER's cover version of "Jesus Is Just Alright", a gospel song written by Arthur Reid Reynolds.

FILTER Covers AEROSMITH

FILTER Covers AEROSMITH's 'Sweet Emotion' For Movie Soundtrack

FILTER has recorded a cover version of the AEROSMITH classic "Sweet Emotion" for an as-yet-undisclosed movie soundtrack. FILTER frontman Richard Patrick described his band's rendition as "all creepy and weird like [FILTER's previously released version of THE TURTLES' '60s pop classic] 'Happy Together' [which was recorded in 2009 for the movie 'The Stepfather'] but way more industrial."

FILTER's recently released "Surprise" video features Patrick and guitarist Jonny Radtke as well as Patrick's daughter Sloan and was directed by Gus Black (ATLAS GENIUS, DEFTONES). The song is taken from FILTER's sixth studio album, "The Sun Comes Out Tonight", which was released on June 4, 2013 via Wind-Up Records. The CD was recorded in Los Angeles at Blue Room studios with producer Bob Marlette (BLACK SABBATH, ATREYU, SALIVA). The follow-up to 2010's "The Trouble With Angels" was written and recorded by Patrick and Radtke, as well as collaborator Marlette. There are also performances from touring members Jeff Friedl and Elias Mallin (drums) and Phil Buckman (bass).

AC/DC

AC/DC 'Insiders' Refute Retirement Rumors

According to Billboard.com, AC/DC "insiders" have shot down as false the rumor that the band is on the verge of announcing its retirement due to one member's — presumably guitarist Malcolm Young's — serious illness.

The source of the original retirement rumor was an e-mail sent to Perth radio station 6PR from an anonymous tipster using the handle Thunderstruck. The station subsequently spread the word, setting off a flurry of reports first throughout Australia and then worldwide.

It should be noted, however, that the group's management and Columbia Records, its current label, have chosen not to comment on the matter, according to Billboard.com.

AC/DC singer Brian Johnson told a Florida radio station in February that the band was schedied to enter a studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada this May to begin recording its 16th studio album. The project was supposed to be the first set of new AC/DC material since 2008's "Black Ice" album. In addition, the band intended to celebrate its 40th anniversary this year by playing 40 shows in selected cities around the world. Asked about the group's plans, Johnson said, "We've been denying anything, 'cause we weren't sure. One of our boys was pretty ill, so we didn't like to say anything, and we're very private about things like this, so we didn't wanna say anything. But I think we'll be going in the studio in May in Vancouver. Which means, we should be getting ready."

Johnson added, "It's been 40 years of the band's existence, so I think we're gonna try to do 40 gigs, 40 shows, to thank the fans for their undying loyalty. I mean, honestly, our fans are just the best in the world, and we appreciate every one of them. So, like I said, we'll have to go out, even though we're getting a bit long in the tooth [Laughs]."

Johnson alluded to one of the members of the band being ill in a 2012 interview, adding that the unnamed member was "getting better" with a "full recovery fully expected."

Meanwhile, bassist Cliff Williams hinted in March 2013 that guitarists Angus and Malcolm Young were writing music for the band's next album.

ORIGIN Signs European Deal With AGONIA RECORDS

ORIGIN Signs European Deal With AGONIA RECORDS

Technical death metal masters ORIGIN have inked a European deal with Agonia Records. The band's follow-up to 2011's "Entity", "Omnipresent", will be made available this summer through Nuclear Blast in the U.S.

Formed in Kansas in 1997, ORIGIN is one of the most intense and most brutal technical death metal forces to be reckoned with. Since its inception, the group has charted twice on the Billboard Top Heatseekers (with "Antithesis" at #21 and "Entity" at #20) and emerged on countless highly energetic shows across the world. In 2007, ORIGIN reached Europe for the first time in career (on tour with MISERY INDEX and NECROPHAGIST) and five years later, in 2012, reclaimed The Old Continent together with SUFFOCATION. This coming May, ORIGIN will be heading out on a headlining run in Southeast Asia and Australia.

ORIGIN stated about its new deal with Agonia: "ORIGIN is proud to be a part of the Agonia Records family! We feel that this is the strongest move on our quest for total omnipresence, and are excited to share our latest cut of sheer technical brutality throughout Europe and beyond.

"We are everywhere and nowhere. We are ORIGIN. Hail Space."

"Omnipresent" will introduce Jason Keyser (SKINLESS) as ORIGIN's new vocalist. Drummer John Longstreth explained: "ORIGIN records albums in a somewhat masochistic, chaotic, and senseless fashion. It’s our best trick, and we need the best guy for our best trick, so that’s why we have Jason. He's had two years of hard road work with the band and we know he’s the guy.

"For those that weren’t aware, ORIGIN recorded 'Entity' as a trio without a proper vocalist, so we are very excited to have Jason in to do what a proper vocalist is supposed to do."

ORIGIN is:

1349:

1349: 'Slaves' Lyric Video Released

Norway's masters of blackened sonic evil 1349 are finally back with a deadly vengeance. Four long years after the release of the masterpiece "Demonoir", the band will return with a new full-length album this fall. This CD will be released on Indie Recordings throughout the world except for North America, where Season Of Mist will be handling the effort.

To shorten the wait, the band has decided to bring a digital single, "Slaves", on the market, in addition to a special seven-inch single, limited to 666 copies. The single was made available on digital services from April 4, the same day as the band's U.S. tour started.

The official lyric video for "Slaves" can be seen below.

1349 is touring the U.S. with BEHEMOTH and GOATWHORE in April and May, and a full European tour will follow later in the year.

Comments the band: "We entered the studio with an idea of putting everything that 1349 has ever been about into a cauldron, stir it well, and pour in some fresh ingredients — as well as some strange old ones — and come up with our most potent elixir ever. And we brought the spirit to match the ambitious attempt. Boil, boil, toil and trouble...Behold! We have made the most delightfully intoxicating and dangerous potion you can dream of. FEEL THE FIRE! And Hail Hell."

Regarding the new track "Slaves", vocalist Ravn commented: "We chose 'Slaves' because it showcases very well the spirit of the coming album.

"'Slaves' has already become a fan favorite live on the Metal Alliance tour and the tour-exclusive seven-inch stock is depleting fast. It is with great pride we see it unleashed upon the world!"

SEBASTIAN BACH:

SEBASTIAN BACH: 'Taking Back Tomorrow' Lyric Video Released

The official lyric video for the song "Taking Back Tomorrow" from former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach can be seen below. The track is taken from Bach's new solo album, "Give 'Em Hell", which will be released on April 22 via Frontiers Records. The follow-up to 2011's "Kicking & Screaming" was once again produced by Bob Marlette, who has previously worked with ROB ZOMBIE, BLACK SABBATH and SHINEDOWN, among others.

The video for the CD's first single, "Temptation", can be seen below. The clip was directed by Patrick Fogarty, who has previously worked with BLACK VEIL BRIDES, PICTURE ME BROKEN and THE BURNING OF ROME.

Of the new album, Sebastian Bach enthused: "I could not be more proud of the new CD, 'Give 'Em Hell'. As a rock music fan myself, I listen to it every single day. As a musician, I honestly feel like I have reached a new level of album recording. As an audiophile, I could not be more blown away by the sound! The production and mastering sound so good that it's perfect to show off your high-end stereo system.

"Ever since my first record, 'Skid Row', on through 'Slave To The Grind' up to 'Kicking & Screaming' and 'Angel Down', I have always been concerned, first and foremost, with making quality records for my fans. And I can honestly say that 'Give 'Em Hell' meets or even exceeds the standards set by some of the records I have put out in the past.

"I can't wait for you all to hear this record! Let's 'Give 'Em Hell' in 2014, mothertruckers!"

Fans who pre-order from iTunes will be able to get the first taste of new music as the pre-order includes an instant download of the song "Hell Inside My Head", a classic loud and heavy rocker from Bach.

"Give 'Em Hell" was mastered at Precision Mastering in Los Angeles with Tom Baker.

Sebastian managed to involve in the writing and recording some very special friends and guest stars, including none other than Duff McKagan (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES), and not one but two top-class guitar players: John 5 (MARILYN MANSON, ROB ZOMBIE) and Steve Stevens (BILLY IDOL). Rounding out the lineup on the CD are Devin Bronson (AVRIL LAVIGNE, PINK) on guitar and Bobby Jarzombek (HALFORD, RIOT, FATES WARNING) on drums. Duff and Sebastian previously collaborated on Duff's solo album "Believe In Me".

The cover for "Give 'Em Hell" (see below) was once again handled by Richard Villa, who worked on "Kicking & Screaming". Incorporated into the album design is one of the paintings by Sebastian's late father David Bierk, who painted the artwork for SKID ROW's "Slave To The Grind", inside artwork for SKID ROW's "Subhuman Race", and Bach's solo albums "Angel Down" and "Bring 'Em Bach Alive!".

"Give 'Em Hell" track listing:

01. Hell Inside My Head02. Harmony03. All My Friends Are Dead04. Temptation05. Push Away06. Dominator07. Had Enough08. Gun To A Knife Fight09. Rock N Roll Is A Vicious Game10. Taking Back Tomorrow11. Disengaged12. Forget You

Bach previously stated about "Give 'Em Hell": "We have captured some kick-ass rock and roll magic and producer par excellence Bob Marlette is the wizard behind the board.

"It is such an awesome feeling to be able to say to the planet if you like the music I have put out before, I can guarantee you will dig this one! I cannot stop listening to it and that is the whole intention.

"For those of you who dig my high crazy-ass screams of the other records, well, I am proud to say this new disc features all the ranges and textures I have been known for, clean soaring melodic ballads and blood-curdling death screams from hell."

THE AMITY AFFLICTION To Release

THE AMITY AFFLICTION To Release 'Let The Ocean Take Me' In June

Roadrunner recording group THE AMITY AFFLICTION has announced details of its eagerly awaited new album. "Let The Ocean Take Me" — the Australian metalcore masters' fourth full-length release — arrives on June 10. Named one of 2014's "most anticipated" albums by Alternative Press, "Let The Ocean Take Me" is available now for pre-order on the iTunes Store, with all pre-orders receiving an instant download of the album's powerful first single, "Pittsburgh". In addition, the "Pittsburgh" companion video can be seen below. Known worldwide for its incendiary live performances, THE AMITY AFFLICTION is currently blowing up stages across North America as part of BLESSTHEFALL's "The Hollow Bodies Tour". The multi-artist trek — which also features, among others, fellow Roadrunner recording group HEARTIST — continues through mid-May. Additional North American live dates will be unveiled soon. Urgent, aggressive, and remarkably cathartic, "Let The Ocean Take Me" is THE AMITY AFFLICTION at its most vital best. Recorded by producer Will Putney (WINDS OF PLAGUE, UPON A BURNING BODY) at guitarist Troy Brady's Evergreen Studios in Brisbane, the album pushes the band's signature post-hardcore approach to new heights of richness and diversity, providing the consummate aural partner to vocalist Joel Birch's increasingly more potent lyricism. Inspired in part by a near-death experience suffered during last year's Vans Warped Tour, songs like "Don't Lean On Me" and "FML" are fueled by desperate emotion and intense anxiety but achieve extraordinary transcendence through radical honesty and raw power.

"(The album) is about really trying to find a positive in my life again," Birch says. "Writing these songs was a very cathartic process, but I'm terrified of people listening to them and reading these lyrics because they'll know exactly what I'm thinking. I'm hiding nothing."

"Let The Ocean Take Me" track listing:

01. Pittsburgh02. Lost & Fading03. Don't Lean On Me04. The Weigh Down05. Never Alone06. Death's Hand07. FML08. My Father's Son09. Forest Fire10. Give It All For more than a decade, THE AMITY AFFLICTION has used music to entertain while simultaneously confronting the very darkest edges of man's existence. "Severed Ties", the band's 2008 full-length debut, and 2010's follow-up, "Youngbloods", instantly established the band's twisted take, all revved-up rhythms, soaring melodies, and full-bore vocals coming together to fashion something provocative and distinct. "Let The Ocean Take Me" follows 2012's "Chasing Ghosts" which debuted at #1 on the Australian ARIA chart — the rare rock record to achieve that major milestone — and has since been certified gold. THE AMITY AFFLICTION is:

Video: WARREL DANE Performs NEVERMORE Classics In Brazil

Fan-filmed video footage of Warrel Dane's (SANCTUARY, NEVERMORE) April 12 solo performance at the Led Club in Várzea Paulista, São Paulo, Brazil can be seen below.

Guitarist Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams announced their departure from NEVERMORE in April 2011 due to personal differences with Dane and bassist Jim Sheppard. Their replacements have not yet been announced.

SANCTUARY entered Jack Endino's Soundhouse Studios in Seattle on February 2 with producer Chris "Zeuss" Harris (SOULFLY, SHADOWS FALL, HATEBREED, MUNICIPAL WASTE) to begin recording its long-awaited "comeback" album, "The Year The Sun Died", due later in the year via Century Media Records.

In 2010, four of the founding SANCTUARY members — Warrel Dane, Jim Sheppard, Lenny Rutledge and Dave Budbill — came together for a few select reunion performances. At first, it was just going to be a handful of shows, but the response and chemistry on stage was so overwhelming that the guys changed their minds. Now, some 20 years after they left off, SANCTUARY will continue with their unique mix of U.S. power metal, hard rock and progressive elements and begin work on a new LP.

To complete the lineup, Brad Hull (FORCED ENTRY) will be filling in for former guitar player Sean Blosi. SANCTUARY released the classic albums "Refuge Denied" and "Into The Mirror Black" during its short existence between 1985 and 1992. Following the band's split, Dane and Sheppard formed NEVERMORE.

Conflicting Reports Surface Regarding AC/DC

Conflicting Reports Surface Regarding AC/DC's Future

**Update** -- April 15 at 4:35 a.m. EST: Mark Evans, who says that he is the son of original AC/DC singer Dave Evans, tweeted a few hours ago that reports of AC/DC's imminent retirement announcement are not merely rumors. He added: "Malcolm Young is very sick.... [Malcolm's son] Ross Young spoke to my father this morning because the cat got out.... But yes, the band will be finished…. No new shows or music."

The original article follows below.

According to The Australian, a "music industry source" has confirmed that AC/DC has booked a recording studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada for six weeks from May 1, directly contradicting other Australian media reports that suggest the legendary rock hard rock band is about to announce its retirement.

An ubsubstantiatted report from Australian radio station 3AW appeared Tuesday morning (Australian time) saying the band could announce its retirement decision as soon as tomorrow, with the station's entertainment commentator Peter Ford saying that “we may not hear them perform or record ever again." He added that "there was some sad detail" behind the move, indicating that "Malcolm Young, one of the founding members of the group, has in recent times returned to Australia to live with his family and for his own personal reasons he may not want to continue with the band."

If AC/DC does end up recording a new album this spring, the project will be the first set of new AC/DC material since 2008's "Black Ice" CD. In addition, the band was previously expected to celebrate its 40th anniversary this year by playing 40 shows in selected cities around the world which have not yet been announced. The plans were revealed by singer Brian Johnson in a surprise phone call he made on February 14 to a radio station in West Palm Beach, Florida. Johnson is a resident of the state.

SLIPKNOT Rumored To Have Recruited Former MADBALL And AGAINST ME! Drummer JAY WEINBERG

SLIPKNOT Rumored To Have Recruited Former MADBALL And AGAINST ME! Drummer JAY WEINBERG

SLIPKNOT is rumored to have recruited former MADBALL and AGAINST ME! drummer Jay Weinberg to assist them during the sessions for the band's new studio album following last year's departure of Joey Jordison.

Weinberg — the 23-year-old son of Max Weinberg (BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN AND THE E STREET BAND) — was most recently a member of AGAINST ME!, having played with the Florida-based act from November 2010 until December 2012.

Weinberg joined AGAINST ME! shortly after he was ousted from MADBALL and following the departure of AGAINST ME!'s previous sticksman, George Rebelo.

In May 2013, Weinberg filled in for KVELERTAK drummer Kjetil Gjermundrod during the band's North American tour because Gjermundrod had to bow out of the run after experiencing significant pain in his arm.

SLIPKNOT announced in December 2013 that it had parted ways with Jordison, one of the band's founding members and key songwriters. The group posted a statement at its web site which read, "It is with great pain but quiet respect that, for personal reasons, Joey Jordison and SLIPKNOT are parting ways. We all wish Joey the best in whatever his future holds. We understand that many of you will want to know how and why this has come to be, and we will do our best to respond to these questions in the near future." The statement added, "It is our love for all of you, as well as for the music we create, that spurs us to continue on and move forward with our plans for releasing new material in the next year. We hope that all of you will come to understand this, and we appreciate your continued support while we plan the next phase of the future of SLIPKNOT."

SLIPKNOT has not disclosed the reasons for Jordison's exit, although the drummer issued a statement in January saying that he did not quit the band.

SLIPKNOT's forthcoming CD will be the band's first since the 2010 death of bassist Paul Gray.

SKID ROW To Release

SKID ROW To Release 'United World Rebellion - Part 2' EP In August

SKID ROW — Johnny Solinger (vocals), Scotti Hill (guitar), Rachel Bolan (bass), Dave "Snake" Sabo (guitar) and Rob Hammersmith (drums) — will release its new seven-song EP, "United World Rebellion - Part 2", on August 5 via Megaforce Records. After a hiatus that started in 1996, SKID ROW returned to the big stage — literally — opening for KISS in 2000. Exhilarated to tour with the heroes who rallied them in the first place, the band was reinvigorated by being underdogs who needed to come out fighting to prove themselves. "When we put the band back together, we needed to reintroduce SKID ROW as relevant without relying too much on past success," explains SKID ROW bassist Rachel Bolan. "We wrote songs and hit the road. We sunk our heart and soul into it, letting people know we weren't doing it for lack of something better to do." 2003's "Thickskin" and 2006's "Revolutions Per Minute" were battle plans for hundreds of live shows with new singer Johnny Solinger out front, every night being a hard fought battle to win new fans and convince the old ones. "United World Rebellion - Part 2" is SKID ROW coming out swinging. Rachel and Sabo tapped again into the potent songwriting collaboration that built the band. Sabo says they were eagerly up to the challenge. "We seem to be at our best when we're faced with adversity. It's us against the world again — and by us I mean the band and the fans who stick with us and carry the SKID ROW torch without fail." New plans came together in an Atlanta recording studio. But it's a different time, a different industry, so they decided to record a series of EPs. "The idea really appealed to me," says Bolan, "especially with the constantly changing musical climate. I like the idea of a steady flow of new music, as opposed to releasing a full-length album then riding it for the next two years." That guerrilla burst of recording a concise EP fostered a focused intensity that was liberating, says Snake. "The pressure seemed to be lifted. That immediately set me at ease and it became really exciting." Exciting and potent, prompting Solinger to exert the full range of his ability. "The third time in the studio as the voice of SKID ROW was the proverbial charm, and the proof is in the tracks. 'United World Rebellion - Part 2' is the most meaningful work I've done with the band. It's definitely the most I've been challenged, vocally." SKID ROW will team up with BLACK STAR RIDERS for a brief tour of the West Coast, which starts May 8 in Tucson, Arizona at the Rialto Theatre. Once that concludes on May 16, SKID ROW will play headlining shows across the U.S., including a stop at the legendary Whisky a Go Go in West Hollywood, California on Saturday, May 17 and an appearance at this year’s Rocklahoma festival on May 23 in Pryor, Oklahoma. They will then head to Europe in June for various festivals, including Download in Donington, England on June 14. Once the U.S. trek concludes in July, SKID ROW will travel to Kostrzyn, Poland, where they’ve been invited to headline one of the biggest festivals in Europe, Woodstock, on July 31. SKID ROW's last EP, "United World Rebellion - Chapter One", was released in Europe on May 24, 2013 via Germany's UDR Music. The European version of the EP includes two bonus tracks, both of them cover tunes: "Fire Fire" (EZO) and "United" (JUDAS PRIEST).

"United World Rebellion - Chapter One" sold around 1,500 copies in the Unted States in its first week of release. The CD was made available in North America on April 16, 2013 via MRI.

RED DRAGON CARTEL is the band led by former OZZY OSBOURNE and BADLANDS guitarist Jake E. Lee.

RED DRAGON CARTEL's self-titled debut album sold around 5,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 69 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released on January 28 via Frontiers Records, the CD was recorded at Las Vegas' The Hideout Recording Studio — owned and operated by Kevin Churko (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, IN THIS MOMENT) — and was produced by R. Bernard Mann (a.k.a. Ronnie Mancuso) and Jake E. Lee, and executive-produced, mixed and mastered by Churko.

RED DRAGON CARTEL, which references the axeman's Japanese roots, also features Darren James "D.J." Smith of Canadian metallers WARMACHINE, on vocals, Ronnie Mancuso (BEGGARS & THIEVES) on bass and Jonas Fairley (BLACK BETTY) on drums.

Jake E. Lee is best known for his work in BADLANDS and as guitarist for OZZY OSBOURNE on "Bark At The Moon" and "The Ultimate Sin" albums.

"Red Dragon Cartel" also features various guest appearances from some of rock's most notable faces, including legendary CHEAP TRICK vocalist Robin Zander, former IRON MAIDEN singer Paul Di'Anno, KILL DEVIL HILL/ex-PANTERA bassist Rex Brown, Sass Jordan, Todd Kerns and Brent Fitz (SLASH) and IN THIS MOMENT frontwoman Maria Brink.

JAKE E. LEE'S RED DRAGON CARTEL's setlist includes new material like the singles "Feeder" and "Deceived", as well as major hits from Jake E. Lee's glorious past: "Bark At The Moon", "The Ultimate Sin" and "Rock 'N' Roll Rebel" (all originally recorded by OZZY OSBOURNE), as well as "Shine On" and "High Wire" (BADLANDS).

THRESHOLD's Guitarist To Guest On EDENBRIDGE Members' VOICIANO Project

THRESHOLD's Guitarist To Guest On EDENBRIDGE Members' VOICIANO Project

VOICIANO, the new acoustic project of EDENBRIDGE members Sabine Edelsbacher (vocals) and Lanvall (grand piano, acoustic guitars and other string instruments, percussion), have launched the third of many webisodes.
The third sees Sabine and Lanvall talking about the background of the name, presenting the crowdfunding campaign and introducing the third guest star Karl Groom, the guitar wizard and mastermind of THRESHOLD.
The second sees Lanvall talking about the orchestra recordings with the Junge Philharmonie Freistadt and is introducing the second guest star Arjen Lucassen, the AYREON mastermind.
The first webisode features Sabine and Lanvall introducing the project and announcing the first guest star, Jim Peterik (ex-SURVIVOR, PRIDE OF LIONS, THE IDES OF MARCH), who wrote the Rocky hymn 'Eye Of The Tiger'.
According to a press release, Voiciano is based on acoustic instruments exclusively, mainly the grand piano. However many other instruments like acoustic guitars, hammered dulcimer, kacapi, bouzouki, mandolin, saz and diverse percussion instruments are appearing. Furthermore a real string orchestra can be heard, the orchestra JUNGE PHILHARMONIE FREISTADT. The music was recorded nearly exclusively without any click tracks, that means without any predetermined tempo, which accentuates the liveliness and soul of the songs. The piano parts as a main basis were recorded live continuously at all."

Lanvall states: "The idea was born after our Edenbridge promotion acoustic show in Vietnam. In 2010 Sabine and I flew to Vietnam for a 10 minutes show case, to perform 3 songs on the 1000 Years Hanoi Festival. The simplicity of the whole process concerning the rehearsals and the show were pure fun for us. You just request for a microphone and a grand piano, enter the stage and perform. When we came back, I went through my files and piles of sketches of numerous ideas, which remained unused to this point. I was astonished how many great songs I found in layouts in this acoustic form. This inspired me immediately to write completely new songs additionally.":

Sabine adds: "I always had the idea for a solo project with more balladesque songs. Voiciano is exactly, what I had in mind. In Voiciano my voice gets more room in all its nuances, this is what I enjoy of course. Furthermore I will bring myself in into the lyrics. The mystic atmosphere of our songs will remain of course - I think we cannot do it differently - it´s a part of us."

Sabine and Lanvall were also able to win some great guests for the album. Most of them are longtime friends and fellow companions with prominent names.

Lanvall: "After the huge production of the last Edenbridge album The Bonding, it was extremely important to gain distance musically and be involved in something, which is different. The reduction in the music and the process to record much of the music live, gave me tremendous joy. I believe that everybody who loves Edenbridge, will love Voiciano too, although it shows us from a completely different side. When I began to arrange the songs I was immensely touched by the feeling and the souls of the songs. This inspired me to learn new instruments like the hammered dulcimer, which can be heard in a couple of songs and creates an own mystic atmosphere."

Will Sabine and Lanvall concentrate on Voiciano now exclusively?

Lanvall: "No, of course not. Voiciano is a project among our main band Edenbridge, to live out this faible for acoustic music. All songs would also work with just vocals and piano in the live situation. I think that after this album I will also be really inspired for a next big Edenbridge album!"

Sabine: "I am convinced that we will attract a bigger audience apart from the metal scene with Voiciano. Even better when they learn about Edenbridge then. This will be a total win/win situation."

Voiciano will also go new ways in marketing with their album Everflow. The album will be released over their own label in spring 2014 and will only be available over the Edenbridge webstore.

Lanvall: "With all the wonderful experiences we made with the crowdfunding action related to our last album The Bonding, where we were able to outfinance the whole orchestra costs. We wanna continue this way with our new project Voiciano, and here even more than in the past. In recent times the relationship fan to musician/band is more important than ever. It was extremely enriching to see in the process of The Bonding, how many people wish to support "real" music. Therefore we wanna bring in our fans to join in as part of a record label and advance suppliers, and came up with some special and interesting packages. With your pre-orders and sponsoring donations you guarantee the best possible production of the Voiciano album Everflow."

'Almost Over You' video:
'Livin' 4 A Dream' video:
Started initially as a way to bring back to the public the amazing vocal talent of Tommy LaVerdi, a singer which came to the attention of the fans on the fabulous 21 Guns debut album Salute in 1992, the whole project morphed into a power band trio when two other well known musicians: guitar player Josh Ramos and drummer Michael Shotton were brought into the picture by the album producer Alessandro Del Vecchio (HARDLINE).

The writing sessions were fast and steady, with Del Vecchio managing all contributions from the band members - who lived in different places - and offering a number of his own writings and co-writings to the band, which was anyway able to develop a distinctive melodic rock sound in the tradition of JOURNEY / THE STORM, with hints of Canadian AOR - think mid '80's TRIUMPH. Recording sessions happened for the most part in Somma Lombardo, Italy during the spring of 2013, with the musicians getting along extremely well and creating a spontaneous camaraderie which contributed a lot to the success of the sessions.

"I respected a lot both Josh and Michael before starting the album and it was actually very sad to leave each other after we finished recording and filming the videos" said Tommy La Verdi, while Michael Shotton added: "It was like we had been playing in a band for years!"

"I had the opportunity to try different styles and moods and incorporate elements of my past musical experiences in The Storm and Hardline -- I was very glad to be involved in this," concludes Josh Ramos.

BLACK ANVIL - 'Eventide' Track Streaming

BLACK ANVIL - 'Eventide' Track Streaming

New York-based black metal crew BLACK ANVIL recently announced the release of their third full-length. Aptly titled Hail Death, the release
is the band's most epic and fully realized album to date. It's one of those rare releases that not only stays true to the band's roots but manages to transcend them in a way that works all of their seemingly disparate influences into an amalgam of heavy music that's as original as it is earth-shaking. Check out the new track 'Eventide' below.
The sonic fury was captured at Magpie Cage by J. Robbins of Jawbox, who, although best known for recording punk and post-hardcore acts, perfectly understood the band's creative vision.

"He's got a really good style of making records and I knew he would understand that we wanted to make this sound live and organic as opposed to tight and compressed," relays bassist/vocalist Paul Delaney, citing KISS' Destroyer and METALLICA's Master Of Puppets as inspiration. "I wanted it to be a little more rock 'n' roll sounding because I felt the songs were a little bigger and structured. It tells a story from beginning to end and the recording reflects that."

As such, the behemoth offering includes a bonus track: A Black Anvil'd cover of 'Under The Rose' from KISS' iconic ninth studio recording, The Elder.

Hail Death wasn't an easy album to make and the band members' personal turmoil is reflected in every frenzied moment of the album. "I went through a lot of stuff over the past year and it caused me to move and spend a year of my life in solitude," Delaney says, explaining that for twelve months he would sit in his room and pour all of his energy and inner chaos into these songs. "This is our journey. I can honestly say that this is probably the most important thing I've ever done in my life, even if it never sees the light of day for some reason I'm insanely proud of it."

Hail Death, which includes the cover art of Metastazis (BEHEMOTH, ALCEST) will be released via Relapse Records in North America/UK/World on May 27th, preceded by Germany/Benelux/Finland on May 24th.
Hail Death tracklisting:

'Still Reborn'
'Redemption Through Blood'
'Eventide'
'Seven Stars Unseen'
'G.N.O.N.'
'Until The End'
'My Hate Is Pure'
'N'
'Next Level Black'
'Under The Rose' (KISS cover, bonus track)

THREE LIONS - Debut Album Details Revealed

THREE LIONS - Debut Album Details Revealed

British rockers THREE LIONS - featuring Vinny Burns on guitar (DARE, TEN, ASIA), Greg Morgan on drums (Dare, Ten) and introducing Nigel Bailey on vocals and bass guitar - will release their self-titled debut album on April 18th via Frontiers Records.

Three Lions features 12 new tracks, written by the band and also in collaboration with producer Alessandro Del Vecchio on two songs. Recorded at The Viper Room, Coil Tap Studios in the UK and Ivory Tears Studio in Milan, this album combines massive guitar riffs and great hooks alongside driving rhythms and powerful, yet emotional vocals.
Tracklisting:

'Trouble In A Red Dress'
'Hold Me Down'
'Twisted Soul'
'Winter Sun'
'Just A Man'
'Holy Water'
'Two Hearts Beat As One'
'Kathmandu'
'Made For One Another'
'Magdalene'
'Don’t Let Me Fall'
'Hellfire Highway'
'Sicilian Kiss'

The band was formed when Vinny, Greg and Nigel were introduced by Serafino and Alessandro at Firefest in October 2012. The guys hit it off straight away and immediately set about writing new material for the album. The first single, 'Trouble In A Red Dress', captures the energy of the band and is a classic foot stomping rock song with an infectious groove, soaring guitars and a chorus you have to sing along with.

The album is made up of songs that were written without an agenda. “We set out to write good songs, the only criteria was that all of us liked them” said Nigel, “Working with Vinny and Greg has been a blast and we were all determined to make the best album possible and are immensely proud of the songs that have made it onto the final record."
From the eastern influenced 'Kathmandu', to the driving power of 'Hellfire Highway' and 'Twisted Soul', to the heartfelt ballads 'Made For One Another' and 'Don’t Let Me Fall'. This album delivers passionate performances from the guys.

Vinny’s trademark guitar work is, as you would expect, filled with emotion and feel. “I wanted to start with a blank canvas for the guitars” says Vinny. “This album allowed me to show a different side to my playing whilst retaining the familiar sound and feel fans of Dare and Ten will recognise”.

“Working with Vinny again has been great fun and Nigel brings something new to the table” said Greg. “This is definitely a record made by a band, not just a studio project, and that really comes across in the songs. We had an instant connection as musicians but also as people and we cannot wait to get out and perform these songs live soon."
