THE COMMONERS Release "Devil Teasin' Me" Music Video / Single

Summoning listeners with dynamic guitar riffs and pulsing rhythms, Canadian roots-rockers The Commoners present their brand new single, “Devil Teasin’ Me”, released September 22, 2023. “Devil Teasin’ Me” is currently available to pre-save from all streaming platforms. The music video can be enjoyed below.

“Devil Teasin’ Me” is the first single from The Commoners’ forthcoming third studio album, that will be released worldwide by Gypsy Soul Records in 2024.

“Devil Teasin’ Me” captures self-reckoning wrapped up in rock ‘n’ roll. The song strikes hot and smolders before it erupts into a sonic inferno that epitomizes the band’s signature crisp tones and rich production, established on their critically acclaimed second studio album, Find A Better Way, (Gypsy Soul Records, 2022).

On “Devil Teasin’ Me” pleading lead vocals question, “Is this who I’m meant to be?”. All of which pulls the listener into the ring as vocalist Chris Medhurst battles personal demons. Lush harmonies and group vocals coil around spirited organ and driving percussion, fervidly gripping the track.

Faustian bargains aside, the quintet returns with confidence and a surety of sound that is the result of the fast-moving pace of rigorous touring. With two UK and European tours under their belt, The Commoners are well on their way to becoming one of today's top roots rock and roll bands.

With more concerts on the horizon, catch The Commoners on tour in The UK for a nationwide tour supporting Samantha Fish and Jesse Dayton from October 19 - 30, 2023, followed by a headline gig at the Bourne Music Club on November 1. Dates are listed in the official tour poster, found below.

Offering their own blend of rock and roll, southern blues, and roots music, the Toronto-based five-piece band are known for their high-energy riffs, soulful vocals, and rich harmonies. The result is an unforgettable, authentic Southern-style rock experience.

The band developed over the course of a decade, adapting through challenging times to form the lineup as it exists today which consists of Chris Medhurst (vocals, guitar), Ben Spiller (bass), Ross Hayes Citrullo (lead guitar), Adam Cannon (drums), and Miles Evans-Branagh (keyboards).

The Commoners unite under a shared dream: to write, perform, and share music that is an authentic nod to the greats who paved the way before them.

“Devil Teasin’ Me” embodies the spirit of rock, blues, soul, and roots,” says the band’s lead singer, Chris Medhurst. “We wanted to capture the sheer excitement of roots rock. This is the music that we listen to.”

“The Black Crowes are a considerable influence for us,” adds Medhurst. “Derek Trucks, Marcus King, Led Zeppelin, and The Allman Brothers Band, too. These are the bands that we wear on our sleeves as we aspire to create our own music and sound.”

“As with our previous album, we wanted to marry old and new southern rock together in a way that was unique to the band’s Canadian roots,” explains lead guitarist Ross Hayes Citrullo. “By adding the soul and rock elements of The Black Crowes, and the southern blues rock undertones of The Allman Brothers to a production style akin to Blackberry Smoke and Rival Sons, I think we developed an authentic sound that compares sonically to some of our favourite records across all of those music genres.”

Original released in April 2022, Vermillion Eclipse sees the band continue their evolution into a powerful musical force that is hard to pin down with one musical categorization. With wide ranging influences under the metal and rock umbrella, Semblant are at once wholly unique, yet entirely familiar, on 'Vermillion Eclipse'.

All the experiences we lived through during the pandemic and all the moments where we kept ourselves locked in our studios focused on creating music are finally in song form and reaching out to your hearts and souls.

"This album is an emotional breaking point. Over the course of making this album, we lost family members, one of us is celebrating the news of our first child being on the way, and we helped each other to keep our minds healthy and strong as best we could during this insane time. FOGHAT Shares Music Video For 'She's A Little Bit Of Everything' From Upcoming 'Sonic Mojo' Album

Legendary multi-platinum rockers FOGHAT will release their long-awaited 17th studio album, "Sonic Mojo" — their first in seven years — on November 10 via the band's label, Foghat Records, which is distributed by Select-O-Hits (part of the Sun Records family). The official music video for the LP's second single, "She's A Little Bit Of Everything" — co-written by the late Kim Simmonds from SAVOY BROWN — can be seen below.

"Sonic Mojo" will be available as a single CD with 12-tracks and a six-page gatefold cover, as well as an 11-track, limited-edition 180-gram, purple neon vinyl.

One more song will be released in the coming months: "I Don't Appreciate You", which was written by the four FOGHAT members, on October 20.

From the opening notes of their 1972 self-titled classic to their bombastic multi-platinum gem "Foghat Live", to 2016's slide guitar-soaked "Under The Influence" and right on through to "Sonic Mojo", FOGHAT has always been about the music. Music played loud. Music played live and music played that makes you want to move.

On "Sonic Mojo", founding member, drummer and leader of the pack Roger Earl is joined by stalwart guitarist, engineer and co-producer Bryan Bassett (WILD CHERRY, MOLLY HATCHET),fun-loving, low-end thumper, fan favorite bassist Rodney O'Quinn (PAT TRAVERS BAND),and on lead vocals and guitar, Scott Holt (Buddy Guy) who has been the singer/guitarist of the band's recent side project EARL & THE AGITATORS since 2015. In typical FOGHAT fashion, there are a few surprises included on the album as well.

Three songs on "Sonic Mojo" have special meaning for Roger Earl, as they were co-written by Simmonds, the man who gave Roger his first break back in 1967 as a member of SAVOY BROWN. Sadly, shortly after writing these songs, Kim passed away.

The first of the three Simmonds co-writes, "Drivin' On", is the debut single from "Sonic Mojo". Vocalist/guitarist Scott Holt smiles as he proudly sums up what this bluesy rocker means to the band: "A song like 'Drivin' On' celebrates the swamp funk blues of Slim Harpo and the cosmic boogie of John Lee Hooker." Part blues, part ZZ TOP and part FOGHAT this tune is destined to become a live fan favorite.

"She's A Little Bit Of Everything" (also co-written by Simmonds),just like FOGHAT's classic "Slow Ride" that starts off with nothing but a drumbeat, followed by fuzzy guitar and, just like that famous song, this one also celebrates woman, albeit in a totally classier way. The third Simmonds co-write is the most emotional of bunch. "Time Slips Away" penned when Kim was terminally ill, delivers a strong message that is both beautiful and emotional.

Kim isn't the only surprise on "Sonic Mojo", however. Roger has a famous brother named Colin Earl, most known for the song "In The Summertime" by MUNGO JERRY. Together, the two brothers and the rest of the band created the most unique tune on the album titled "Wish I'd A Been There". The song is an ode to country music legend Hank Williams.

FOGHAT does country?

Well…sort of, but not really. This fun song shows that this band, even after 50-plus years of making music, isn't afraid of trying something new. And…like everything else they've tried, they do it well.

"Sonic Mojo" also sees FOGHAT tip their hat to great artists that came before them, as well as giving plenty of winks and nods from the current lineup. While there are songs on the album written by Willie Dixon ("Let Me Love You Baby"),B.B. King ("She's Dynamite") and Chuck Berry ("Promised Land"),FOGHAT shows they can still boogie with the best of them.

Elder statesmen, and band leader, Roger Earl has played with enough of the greats to know when he's in good company. "I love playing and working with this band," he says. "During my almost-60-year music career, I have had the honor of playing with some really great musicians. Lonesome Dave, Rod Price, Craig MacGregor, Erik Cartwright, Nick Jameson, Tony Stevens and Jeff Howell, to name some that have graced this band. Many have sadly passed, some have retired or moved on, but I have to say that the current lineup has been one of the most inspirational for me, personally. Writing with Scott and Bryan has come easy. Words and ideas just seem to fall out at any time and another song is in the works. And Rodney's input and bass playing has been invaluable. We are a band in every sense of the word."

Adds Scott Holt: "I feel like 'Sonic Mojo' is a perfect addition to the FOGHAT cannon. For over 50 years, this band has been a celebration of the varied art forms and genres that were created in this country. The pillars of blues, country, soul, R&B and jazz are woven into the fabric of this band at the molecular level. 'Sonic Mojo' is a rock and roll audio mojo hand. We convened our spirits and went down to the crossroads at midnight and put some Mississippi dirt, black cat bones, and moonlight into the bag, Kim Simmonds donated some soul, the spirit of Dave, Rod and Craig were the essence that created the supreme funk that is the finished product. A soulful expression, an offering at the altar of rock and roll."

"Making a record is an emotionally and physically draining experience," Holt continues. "As an artist you disengage every other part of your being and focus on the art…the task at hand. You don't record like it's going to live forever, but you know it's going to live forever. You forget to eat, to drink, you don't sleep or rest until you've got your part correct, and then you rethink it until it's pronounced 'finished.' (You'll always hear the part that you doubted, even after someone tells you that's their favorite part.) This record was made under battle conditions. Roger was drumming with one good arm and would keep recording until the pain was too much…and then do another take."

Roger Earl tore a tendon in his shoulder while shoveling snow after an intense blizzard at his New York home in January 2022. After spending most of that year looking for a qualified surgeon, while touring relentlessly and starting to record "Sonic Mojo", he finally had surgery in December with a doctor who specialized in sports shoulder injuries. Because he knew he would not be able to play up to his standards for a while after surgery, Roger laid down all the drum tracks for "Sonic Mojo" in the couple of months before the surgery, enduring a lot of pain, but doing whatever it took to get the music right. Guess that's why they call it the blues!

Formed in 1971 when Lonesome Dave Peverett and Roger Earl left the British blues-rock band SAVOY BROWN, FOGHAT has earned eight gold records, one platinum record and one double-platinum record. They continue to release new music every few years, and they've never stopped touring and recording, although there have been several ups and downs and changes over the years. They sadly lost Lonesome Dave Peverett in 2000, Rod Price in 2005, and Craig MacGregor in 2018, but Roger Earl keeps banging and kicking to keep FOGHAT's musical legacy going.

"Sonic Mojo" track listing:

01. She's A Little Bit Of Everything (Simmonds/R. Earl/Bassett/Holt/O'Quinn)
02. I Don't Appreciate You (R. Earl/Holt/Bassett/O'Quinn)

LAST IN LINE Shares Music Video For 'Not Today Satan' From 'Jericho' Album

LAST IN LINE — the band featuring frontman Andrew Freeman, bassist Phil Soussan (ex-OZZY OSBOURNE),and original DIO members Vivian Campbell (DEF LEPPARD) and Vinny Appice (ex-BLACK SABBATH) — has released the official music video for the song "Not Today Satan". The track is taken from LAST IN LINE's third album, "Jericho", which came out in March via earMUSIC.

LAST IN LINE's latest studio album was helmed by Chris Collier, who has previously worked with KORN and WHITESNAKE, among other bands. LAST IN LINE's first two albums were produced by former DOKKEN and current FOREIGNER bassist Jeff Pilson.

Despite the previous two years of isolation, "Jericho" was produced in the best hard rock tradition with great studio performances of an excellent all-star lineup.

Campbell explained: "With LAST IN LINE, just as we did with DIO, we cut the basic tracks live. It's important for us to capture the energy of the syncopation of playing together in real time — much like the energy of a live show. This record represents the best of both worlds: the spirit of an energetic band performance, and the more reflective and nuanced qualities of our individual performances, too."

Appice stated: "All the musical forces of LAST IN LINE are combined here for a super-powerful new record. Press play and put your seatbelts on!!"

Last year, LAST IN LINE surprised with a unique version of THE BEATLES classic "A Day In The Life", which was released on the limited 12-inch silver collector's EP with the same name.

The news of LAST IN LINE's partnership with earMUSIC was shared in February 2022 by Appice during an appearance on "Waste Some Time With Jason Green". Vinny also revealed that LAST IN LINE completed recording six more new songs in late January at Danny "Count" Koker's Desert Moon studios in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Formed in 2012 by Appice, Campbell and bassist Jimmy Bain — Ronnie James Dio's co-conspirators and co-writers on the "Holy Diver", "Last In Line" and "Sacred Heart" albums — LAST IN LINE's initial intent was to celebrate Ronnie James Dio's early work by reuniting the members of the original DIO lineup. After playing shows that featured a setlist composed exclusively of material from the first three DIO albums, the band decided to move forward and create new music in a similar vein.

LAST IN LINE's debut album, "Heavy Crown", was released in February 2016 via Frontiers Music Srl, landing at No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. Initially, the release had been preceded by tragedy when Bain unexpectedly died at the age of 68 on January 23, 2016. LAST IN LINE, honoring what they knew would be Bain's wish to keep the band moving, brought in Soussan and committed to sustained touring in support of the album before beginning work on the follow-up release, 2019's "II", which was also made available through Frontiers Music Srl.

In February 2021, Soussan told the "Pat's Soundbytes Unplugged" podcast about the musical direction of the new LAST IN LINE material: "The songs are another progression from the last album — the difference between 'Heavy Crown' and 'II', and now 'II' and whatever this next album is gonna be called. But it's definitely evolved even more; it's gone into even more of an evolution, but we are always trying to keep the characteristics of LAST IN LINE there. I mean, you can't shake those things — you can't shake Vinny's drumming, you can't shake Vivian's playing. And I'd like to say the same thing about myself, and, of course, Andrew."

Some of the early recording sessions for LAST IN LINE's third album took place in January 2020 at Steakhouse studio in North Hollywood, California.

SARCOFAGUS Guitarist / Founder KIMMO KUUSNIEMI Launches Cross-Arts Project ANCIENT STREAMING ASSEMBLY; "Perpetuae Memoriae" Video Streaming

Visionary filmmaker, guitarist, and composer Kimmo Kuusniemi unveils a haunting reflection of our times with his latest endeavour, the Ancient Streaming Assembly (ASA). This formidable cross-arts project, conceptualised by Kuusniemi and enhanced by the musical prowess of his sole permanent collaborator, internationally acclaimed violinist and ethnomusicologist Tuomas Rounakari, paints a somber picture of our world teetering on the edge of environmental collapse.

Kuusniemi's past environmental pursuits since the '80s, from impactful documentaries to the globally resonant Dream On project for World Wide Fund for Nature, converge in ASA with a sharper edge. Together with Rounakari's immersion in ancient traditions, they craft a chilling reminder of our environment's fragile state, urging society to tap into ancestral wisdom as a lifeline.

The initial offering from ASA is the eerily captivating song, "Perpetuae Memoriae", set against a dystopian backdrop. This composition not only demonstrates the collective brilliance of Kuusniemi and Rounakari's combined talents but also shines a spotlight on Steve Di Giorgio, the iconic fretless bassist from the revered metal juggernaut, Testament.

"This video encapsulates the bleak landscape we're navigating. ASA is an urgent wake-up call, a clarion cry, urging humanity to resonate with the harmonies of ancestral wisdom before we drift past the point of no return," shares Kuusniemi.

The "Perpetuae Memoriae" serves as a precursor to ASA's forthcoming environmental music documentary, hinting at the depth and passion that the team is channeling into their larger project.

However, ASA’s commitment extends beyond mere awareness. To bridge the gap between realisation and action, ASA highlights emblems of notable environmental charities at the end of their video. This gesture is designed to steer viewers towards meaningful channels of change, transforming awareness into tangible action.

Ancient Streaming Assembly beckons artists, environmentalists, and the global audience to confront this stark reality, seeking solace and guidance in the echoes of our ancient predecessors.

Witness the unsettling narrative of "Perpetuae Memoriae" and delve deeper into ASA's grim vision.

Stream and buy “Perpetuae Memoriae” at this location.

PAUL LIDEL'S SCREAM THERAPY - Debut Album Due In October Via Perris Records

Perris Records announces the CD release of Scream Therapy, by Paul Lidel's Scream Therapy, on October 20th. Pre-orders can be placed now via Perris or Amazon.

Imagine a band with the swagger and sleaze of early GN'R, Crüe, and Aerosmith, the musical darkness of Alice In Chains mixed with a marriage of old school rock bands like Maiden, Priest, Ozzy, Van Halen, Pantera and AC/DC, playing aggressive and instantly memorable songs about insanity, murder, and the destruction of the human race, led by vocalist / guitarist Paul Lidel (Dangerous Toys, Dirty Looks).

Tom Mathers from Perris Records: "This CD will give any fan of Dangerous Toys and Dirty Looks their fix of hard rock. I've worked with Paul Lidel for over 20 years with Dirty Looks, Broken Teeth, 99 Crimes, and Adrenaline Factor. This album will be a top seller in 2023 along with other Perris artists Babylon A.D. and Roxx Gang."

Paul Lidel on his new album, "I’m really excited about this new band and the new album! I feel like this is one of the best albums I’ve ever done. I think that fans of my other bands, Dangerous Toys and Dirty Looks, will love it! Even though it sounds nothing like either of those bands, it definitely has that same classic hard rock attitude."

METALLICA Shares Pro-Shot Video Of '72 Seasons' Performance From Phoenix During 'M72' Tour

Professionally filmed video of METALLICA performing the song "72 Seasons" on September 9 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona can be seen below.

As previously reported, METALLICA rescheduled its September 3 show in Arizona after frontman James Hetfield tested positive for COVID. The concert, part of the band's two-year "M72" world tour, was held six days later. The band previously cut its September 1 show at State Farm Stadium short by two songs as a result of Hetfield's "vocal issues".

METALLICA drew nearly 80,000 fans to the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on August 25 at the first of the band's two shows at the venue. It was the biggest crowd in the history of the SoCal stadium, which opened in September 2020. The San Francisco Bay Area-based metal legends drew a similarly sized capacity crowd on August 27.

Fans purchased more than 156,000 tickets for the two-concert stand, which was part of METALLICA's "M72" world tour.

The "M72" tour features a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed METALLICA Snake Pit to center stage, allowing promoters to sell more tickets than usual. And since METALLICA's stage is hollow in the center, there is even more space available to accommodate fans.

According to Billboard, METALLICA's giant ring-shaped stage also includes eight towers of monitors and speakers, with each of the towers is anchored by a raised platform that doubles as VIP seating, with eight folding chairs decorated with the black-and-yellow color scheme of the band's new album, "72 Seasons".

The "M72" tour launched in late April in Amsterdam.

A portion of proceeds from the shows go to METALLICA's All Within My Hands foundation, which seeks to assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported the band and combat food insecurity; provides disaster relief; and bestows scholarships.

METALLICA's production travels in 87 trucks — 45 for the band and its setup, plus two groups of 21 each for the steel stage and towers. There are 130 people in the band's crew, plus 40 steelworkers, local hires and truck drivers.

METALLICA's manager Cliff Burnstein told Billboard that between 80% and 90% of fans at each concert are attending both shows.

METALLICA's two-night stand at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas last month was livestreamed to movie theaters across the globe. It marked METALLICA's first appearance in Texas since November 2021, when the band played before, during and after a Triad Combat event at Globe Life Field.

THE GUESS WHO Shares Music Video For 'Spaces'

Earlier this year, Canadian rock legends THE GUESS WHO shared their brand new LP, "Plein D'Amour", via Deko Entertainment. They now continue their album rollout with the release of a brand new video for the single "Spaces".

On "Plein D'Amour", bandmembers Derek Sharp, Michael Staertow, Leonard Shaw, Michael Devin and founding member Garry Peterson have crafted a collection of songs that raises the bar and continues to take it up a notch both musically and sonically. The album was recorded at Villa Sound in Singhampton, Ontario, Canada, with Adam Fair. It features other standout tracks such as "Headline" and "Across The Line". Artwork for the release was provided by world-renowned graphic designer Ioannis (DEEP PURPLE, ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND, LED ZEPPELIN, etc.).

In February, THE GUESS WHO shared the first single off their new album, "The King". Upon its release, the track immediately landed on multiple editorial Spotify playlists. With follow-up singles "Plein D'Amour" and "Headline", the three tracks racked up over 250,000 streams collectively and making this record the highest new release in the band's history.

In celebration of their new release, THE GUESS WHO has already embarked on a full North American tour that will take them through the end of 2023.

THE GUESS WHO is a legendary band which enjoyed chart-topping hits in the late 1960s and early 1970s with an impressive catalogue of songs including "American Woman", "These Eyes" and "No Time". During the course of its career, the band has released 11 studio albums, and charted 14 Top 40 hit singles, 2 of which went to number one in the United States. THE GUESS WHO is best known internationally for its 1970 album "American Woman", which hit number one in Canada and number nine in the United States, with five other albums also hitting the top ten in Canada. Their fan base spans multiple generations. Very few bands have survived numerous member changes — let alone having smash hits with each lineup — but THE GUESS WHO's motto is "the music is the message."

The most recent and up-to-date version of the band has mastered a wildly entertaining romp through the early hits mixed in with their current creations, while managing to take the whole experience to a new level. Their live show is a celebration of life, being alive, and thriving in these uncertain times.

Last November, Peterson told TribLive that he has never entertained thoughts of leaving THE GUESS WHO. "The reason why is because I spent from 1962 to today devoting my entire adolescence and adult life to this band and to the creation of music in this band and the promotion of music created by this band," he said. "So, I think when you're that heavily invested, unless you're looking for something that you’re not getting out of this band, you would stay in it."

Former THE GUESS WHO members Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman have been highly critical of the latest iteration of THE GUESS WHO, calling it a cover band and "the fake GUESS WHO." Peterson, for his part, doesn't let the criticism bother him.

"They decided to go on to their own careers, which I respect and I support,” Peterson told TribLive. "You have to, in life, do what you feel you're called to do. My calling is to be in THE GUESS WHO."

VANTABLACK WARSHIP Release New Video “We Shall Not Sleep”

If a caffeine jolt of java doesn't do it for you in the morning, Montreal, Canada’s Vantablack Warship's newest video "We Shall Not Sleep" is the perfect wake-up call to get your day started. With its heavy speed demon riffs of hardcore thrash and groove, this is your wall-smashing ready tune to get your heart pumping. Off their latest album Last Of The Hardmouthed Poets released this past April on Quebec label BAM & Co. Heavy.

Vocalist Yannick “Pil” Pilon explains the track further:

"This is the first song of the album (after the intro!). Big catchy riff which, with the drums, hammers hard! The second part of the tune is a big heavy breakdown which I repeat until the end “Find what you love and let it kill you…” I love it! It opens the album well. It’s a Charles Bukowski quote which we reinterpret as finding your passion, embracing it, living it to the fullest for the longest time possible no matter the obstacles thrown at you!”

Vantablack Warship is made up of members who have worked in prominent groups of the Quebec underground scene for the last 30 years (Arseniq33, Ghoulunatics, Brutal Chérie, Foreshadow, Les Ékorchés, Buffalo Theory Mtl). With a self-titled EP and album “Abrasive Pulmonic Speak” under their belts, they have shared the stage with an impressive lineup of prominent bands. They now have a new partnership with the Quebec label BAM & Co. Heavy to present their new album Last Of The Hardmouthed Poets.

The title of the album speaks to blacklisted writers of yesteryear and reminds us not to take freedom for granted of expression and freedom of thought. Last Of The Hardmouthed Poets also refers to the ending eras, to dying races, to lost generations, and to cherish those who remain. It’s a hard-hitting bomb of an album ready to blow your mind with thrash metal riffs and expertly written lyrics. The band expects that people who are already familiar with them will be pleasantly surprised with what they consider their best effort yet. It’s pedal-to-metal driving music that would be an excellent soundtrack to road trips this summer.

The tracks on Last Of The Hard Mouthed Poets all came together organically, but were mainly inspired by the writings of Beat Generation authors, and various life themes such as loss, perseverance, anti-racism, and cherishing the important things in life. They are unapologetically fast, and addictive, most suitable for fans of Cancer Bats, Cro-Mags, Exodus, Slayer, and Pantera.

Last Of The Hardmouthed Poets is available via BAM & Co. Heavy. Order on Bandcamp. CD and vinyl available at this location.

Live dates:

22 – Montebello, QC

October
14 – Granby, QC
20 – Alma, QC – Café du Clocher
