FLAW Plans New Studio Album, Return To The Road; Tour Trailer Video StreamingFlaw has announced plans to release a new album, and a return to the road after a decade of being dormant, Chris Volz (Vocals), Jason Daunt (Guitar), Ryan Jurhs (Bass / Backing Vocals) and Corey Sturgill (Drums) are poised to begin the next chapter of the band's career.
Singer Volz shares, "I'm so excited to announce the soon-to-come release of our first full length album in over 10 years! We are locking down a record label as we speak with our manager Scott Frazier, and have been recording with Grammy winning producer Skidd Mills. We embark on a nationwide tour May 1st with our good friends Seasons After, and I am happy to say that we will be hitting a lot of cities we haven't played in for quite some time. Words can't express how psyched we are to be back and how proud we are of the recordings. See you guys soon!"
Guitarist Daunt adds, "After several years apart to work out personal issues we have reunited. The time apart has given us clear heads and a new appreciation for the music we are capable of creating together. We are stoked about our renewed musical relationship and can't wait to share it with the world."
Flaw formed in 1995 with a core of Chris Volz (vocals) and Jason Daunt (guitar). They released the independent albums American Arrogance (1996), Flaw (1998) and Drama (2000). At the turn of the millennium, Flaw signed with Universal Republic Records, and released Through The Eyes in 2001. The offering topped the Billboard "Heatseekers" chart, largely fueled by the singles "Payback" and "Whole”.
The band released Endangered Species via Republic in 2004, but soon thereafter the band went through personnel changes and ended their relationship with the label. Years have passed, with various incarnations, rumors, and misinformation permeating the band's legacy, but in late-2013, the band's official website went live once again after eight years of inactivity.
Confirmed appearances follow. Additional dates will be announced shortly.

ALL THAT REMAINS Singer PHIL LABONTE Recalls Signing Fan's PenisIn a brand new interview with PureGrainAudio.com, ALL THAT REMAINS singer Phil Labonte was asked to recount his weirdest fan interaction. He said: "There was a time that I signed a dude's dick. That was really weird. This dude was, like, 'Sign my dick.' And I was, like, 'No I'm not signing your dick.' And he was, like, 'Come on! You've gotta sign my dick.' We were shooting a DVD, and they got a shot of this guy on the DVD, but I was, like, 'I really don't want to sign your dick.' But then I was, like, 'Fuck, alright.' It wasn't easy, because it was all flaccid and probably sweaty. I didn't touch it; I used a marker, obviously."
ALL THAT REMAINS's new album, "The Order Of Things", was released on February 24 via Razor & Tie. The CD follows up the group's 2012 effort, "A War You Cannot Win", which featured the massive rock singles "What If I Was Nothing" and the chart-topping "Stand Up".
The new disc marks the first time that Labonte collaborated on his lyrics, in this case with producer Josh Wilbur. Labonte told The Pulse Of Radio how that worked out. "He's the first guy that I collaborated lyrically with," he said. "It's always been a situation where we'll come up with vocal ideas, maybe cadences, and I'll come up with the ideas and words that go into it. So this record has really been vocally the most collaboration I've ever had from a producer/writer, working with, you know, the songs we came up with." 16

HOLOPAINEN PRESENTS "HOLOPAINEN"Only a few days after the release of the new album "Endless Forms Most Beautiful", Finland-based NIGHTWISH mastermind Tuomas Holopainen reveals a big surprise to the public: This May will see the launch of his first own fragrance, simply called "Holopainen" - an elegant, yet humble fragrance for the modern metalhead.
Says Tuomas: "This may come as a bit of a surprise to some fans, but creating my own fragrance has always been the logical next step for me. As a band, we had the Imaginaerum wine, but I wanted to create something more personal. Besides, many great artists have done it before, take Avril Lavigne for instance. I strongly believe in following your dreams and wishes. You only live once."
The fragrance will first be sold exclusively though Nightwish-Shop, but a big Swedish clothing store chain has already expressed interest in international distribution.
“Holopainen” will be available in 50ml and 150ml bottles in various editions. In addition to the standard bottle with a black cap, there will be a web-exclusive limited edition with a fresh looking yellow cap - the perfect choice for spring time! Also, don’t miss the super exclusive fan edition (limited to 200 pieces) that comes in a beautiful wooden box and has a fabulous silver cap on the bottle, the only right choice for those special moments in life. 12

JUDAS PRIEST: Limited-Edition 'British Steel' Coffee Coming Next MonthTo celebrate the 35th anniversary of JUDAS PRIEST's classic album "British Steel", Dark Matter Coffee and JUDAS PRIEST present the ultimate hesher coffee. On Tuesday, April 14, the coffee and cassette combo will be unleashed via the Dark Matter Coffee web site and its three Chicago retail locations. Each bag of "British Steel" coffee will come with an old-school cassingle, featuring "Grinder" and "Snakebite" (while supplies last).
Says Dark Matter Coffee in a press release: "The Great Halls of Metal were fashioned by JUDAS PRIEST — in their studs and leather with everything faster, heavier — guitars, amps, power — blazing around the planet — higher, louder… SOARING in EPIC PROPORTIONS! Their all-out sonic attack cemented their place as the firebrand for British heavy metal.
"Does anything cut as deep as 'British Steel'? NO! The songs comprising this landmark record yielded both monumental commercial success, capturing the attention of the broader uninitiated … while also producing anthems to those already deeply enmeshed in a turbo charged new genre. PRIEST unleashed this razor sharp maelstrom onto the collective consciousness and we've thankfully never been the same since! Instantly recognizable for their peerless attack, the fuel for this inexorable juggernaut must be both ebullient and unremitting. The brewed crude sparkles cup after cup, sin after sin. Death to false coffee."
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of "British Steel", JUDAS PRIEST toured North America and Japan in the summer and fall of 2009, each night playing the album in its entirety.
"British Steel" was originally released in April 1980 and was the band's first platinum Top 40 album in the United States and their first Top 10 studio album in the United Kingdom. Columbia/Legacy re-released this seminal album May 11, 2010. There is a "British Steel" 30th-anniversary standard edition available, as well as a "British Steel" 30th-anniversary deluxe edition box set, available only through JudasPriest.com. The standard edition features a CD of the original nine-song album, plus two bonus tracks, as well as a DVD featuring a "Making of British Steel" interview, as well as full concert footage of the 16-song set from the 2009 "British Steel" tour, filmed live at the Seminole Hard Rock Arena, Hollywood, Florida. The deluxe edition features all this, plus a CD of the live recording from the Seminole Hard Rock Arena concert. 8

THE ROLLING STONES’ Sticky Fingers To Receive Deluxe Release With Extensive Rare Bonus MaterialSticky Fingers, one of the most revered albums in the storied catalogue of the legendary Rolling Stones, is set to enthrall a new generation of admirers. The 1971 classic — which captured the band at the absolute peak of their powers, on timeless tracks such as “Brown Sugar”, “Wild Horses”, “Bitch”, “Sister Morphine” and “Dead Flowers” - will be reissued by Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company - in a variety of formats worldwide on May 26th.
The reissue arrives as the Rolling Stones continue to captivate audiences around the world with their stunning live performances. Last year’s 14 On Fire tour saw the band play for over one million fans and in 2015 the Stones will set out on a North American tour of stadiums and festivals. The Rolling Stones newly branded RS- ‘ZIP CODE’ Tour’ will kick off in late May.
Sticky Fingers was recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Stargroves, Mick’s country home and Olympic Studios in London and produced by regular confidant Jimmy Miller. Sticky Fingers was released shortly after the Stones became exiled in the south of France, leaving Britain after a sensational farewell tour. With its famous working zip on the front cover, the album featured some of the most ground breaking artwork in rock history by Andy Warhol, re-created in the Super Deluxe and Double Vinyl Deluxe Editions of the new package.
Sticky Fingers has been repeatedly hailed as one of the Stones’ all-time great albums, capturing their trademark combination of swagger and tenderness in a superb collection. It continued the incredible outpouring of creative energy that had produced 1968’s Beggars Banquet and Let It Bleed in 1969. After Sticky Fingers, the Stones’ relocation to the south of France led to the double album masterpiece Exile On Main St. The highly acclaimed Sticky Fingers showcased the ever more inventive song writing of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and formidable guitar licks from Mick Taylor.
The new editions of Sticky Fingers follow the worldwide critical and commercial success of the Stones’ two previous deluxe reissues, for Exile itself (which took the album back to No. 1 in the UK in 2010, 38 years after it first topped the chart) and the 1978 classic Some Girls, repackaged in 2011.
As with those expanded releases, millions of Stones devotees will be hugely excited by not only the original album but the generous selection of previously unavailable material contained within the Deluxe and Super Deluxe formats. These include the alternative version of the chart-topping single “Brown Sugar” featuring Eric Clapton; unreleased interpretations of “Bitch”, “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” and “Dead Flowers”; an acoustic take on the anthemic “Wild Horses”, and five tracks recorded live at The Roundhouse in 1971 including “Honky Tonk Women” and “Midnight Rambler”.
The Super Deluxe edition will also house Get Yer Leeds Lungs Out!, the 13-track audio recording of the Stones’ gig in Leeds in March 1971, shortly before their “exile” in France began. The set included versions of the just-completed “Brown Sugar”, “Bitch” and “Dead Flowers”, one of their many authentic forays into country music territory.
There’s also a chance to see two numbers from the band’s famous Marquee Club show of March 26, 1971. Other features of the Super Deluxe Edition include a beautiful 120 page hardback book complete with real zip, featuring new liner notes and many rare and unseen photographs from the era plus a print, postcard set and more.
The first sessions that led to Sticky Fingers took place as far back as December 1969, in the remote location of Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, Alabama. The band then reconvened, back home in the UK both at Olympic and with the Rolling Stones Mobile parked up at Mick Jagger’s Stargroves home.
On April 23rd, 1971, 504 days after that first session in Alabama, Sticky Fingers was released, cheered on by media and public alike.
As the album hit the shops that spring, “Brown Sugar” hit the charts, and by early May, Sticky Fingers had become the band’s sixth UK #1 LP. Its four-week reign was matched by its performance in the US, and it also raced to the top in Australia, Canada and through much of Europe. As the aura grew around this essential part of the Stones’ epic story, the album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
The welcome reappearance of Sticky Fingers will not only restate the pre-eminence of this album landmark, but add even greater distinction to perhaps the greatest catalogue in rock music.
Sticky Fingers is available to preorder now at RollingStones.com. Preorders placed on iTunes for Deluxe and Super Deluxe versions will receive an instant download of a previously unreleased, acoustic version of “Wild Horses”. The track is also available to download and stream.

Video: U.K. Band TESSERACT Performs On Gigantic IglooCast your mind back to the coolest gig you've ever been to. Does it come anywhere close to a band playing on a gigantic igloo the length of three and a half double decker buses? Thought not. Progressive rock band TESSERACT has landed back in the U.K., having performed the world's first "Gigloo" — a gig on what is thought to be the world's largest igloo. The structure in Yllas Village, Finland was transformed into an ice stage where the band played in freezing temperatures as part of the Jägermeister Ice Cold Gig series. Snowmobiles and neighbouring igloos lit up the performance, comprising a stunning array of colors that coincided with a mesmerising display of the Northern Lights overhead. Crowds — including Sami tribesmen — were wowed as the band emerged from a tunnel carved deep within the construction, before playing to the 200-strong audience on guitars and drums lined with illuminating electro-luminescence. Awarded 4 Ks by Kerrang! magazine for its last album, the band took time out of its jam-packed tour schedule to take up the challenge and play out its song "Nocturne". The track, which has had huge traction amongst their U.K. fans, with over 800,000 hits on YouTube, was this time performed to a very different, but equally enthralled, audience of Lappish people, skiers and reindeer. Prior to the performance, chief songwriter Acle Kahney, along with fellow guitarist James Monteith, bassist/producer Amos Williams, vocalist Dan Tompkins and drummer Jay Postones, invited Sami tribesmen and other residents to come and witness their unique performance.
Monteith said: "We're great mates first and foremost, so we've shared some amazing moments. But even after playing the main stage at Sonisphere last year, the Jägermeister Ice Cold Gig was definitely TESSARACT's most challenging performance to date, and what an amazing experience it was. Something we'll remember forever! "The final stage build was tougher going than we expected — we were shifting 150kg blocks of ice to create the steps leading up to the stage. Fortunately, we had a team of locals to help us and the effort was well worth it; we drew in spectators that lived some 20 to 50 kilometers away. It was absolutely freezing, but as soon as we saw the crowd of people adrenalin took over, the hard work was forgotten and we battled through the gig." Tom Carson, Jägermeister music manager, added: "For 2015 we really wanted to create something special. The Ice Cold Gigs have become such a prominent feature for our Jägermusic programme that not only do we want to challenge our artists, but we like to challenge ourselves by doing something that's never been done before." When it comes to ice-cold gigs, there's no obstacle too big for Jägermeister to overcome. In 2014, Jägermeister hosted the world's first gig on an iceberg with U.K. metal band THE DEFILED. The band performed a special set to a host of locals from the nearby town of Kulusuk Greenland, who ventured out to the ice field to watch this once-in-a-lifetime experience from an array of fishing boats and leisure craft. And in 2012, Charlie Simpson performed The Jägermeister Ice Cold Gig and set a new Guinness World Record for the World's Coldest Concert. Braving brutal temperatures of minus 30 degrees Celsius, the singer, songwriter and FIGHTSTAR frontman performed to a small crowd in Oymyakon, Siberia — the coldest permanently inhabited place on the planet. 2

NIGHTWISH's TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN: 'We Would Like To Bring A Little Bit Of Mystery Back Into Music'Italy's Blogo.it recently conducted an interview with NIGHTWISH keyboardist and main composer Tuomas Holopainen. You can now watch the chat below.
Speaking about the fact that NIGHTWISH chose to keep much of the music on its new album, "Endless Forms Most Beautiful", shrouded in mystery prior to the CD's release, Tuomas said: "I don't really see the point of giving, like, 30 seconds from each song, because, for me, personally, when a new album of my favorite band is released, it's an event; I don't want to know anything about it in advance."
He continued: "I remember when 'Far Beyond Driven' by PANTERA was released, I was really looking forward to the day when it was released and cycling to the record shop, getting the album, going back, just dedicating a few hours, just listening. That was an event. That sort of things seems to be… well, if not disappearing, but there's something of that mystery is gone — basically because of social media and the Internet.
"Don't get me wrong, I think the Internet is fab; it's the perfect way of spreading information and promoting and all that. But we would like to bring a little bit of mystery back into music and to bands as well. There's a reason why we do our best for keeping our privacy. We enjoy talking about music and the album and the live shows and all that, but personal stuff is personal for a reason."
Tuomas added: "I mean, one of my biggest idols, Vangelis [Greek composer of electronic, progressive, ambient, jazz, pop rock, and orchestral music], for example, nobody knows anything about him. He just comes out with new music every now and then, and that's it. And I really like that sort of image. It's just the music, and that's all that matters. That's the way it should be."
Asked if it was difficult to select a single from the new album, Holopainen said: "If it was up to me, we would never release singles in the first place. It seems so unfair to put one song on a pedestal to represent the whole album. And with this album, 'Élan' doesn't really give you the right impression of what's going on, but it's sort of a necessary evil that you have to do these days, and you just have to pick up that would possibly get some radio play, which would be an easy enough approach. This time, it was 'Élan'. That's it. [But] I wish people would listen to the album from beginning to the end."
"Endless Forms Most Beautiful" will be made available on March 31 in the U.S. via Nuclear Blast.
The "Élan" four-track single features the album version of the title cut, a radio edit and an alternate version of "Élan", as well as the non-album bonus track "Sagan".
The cover artwork for "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" was created by the band's longtime collaborator Toxic Angel. Famed evolutionary biologist and atheist writer/leader Richard Dawkins appears as a guest on the effort.
Longtime NIGHTWISH drummer Jukka Nevalainen sat out the recording sessions for "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" due to health issues. He has since been replaced by Kai Hahto (WINTERSUN, SWALLOW THE SUN, TREES OF ETERNITY).

DAVE MUSTAINE: MEGADETH Is 'Almost Done' Writing New Album; Tracking To Begin Next WeekAccording to a new tweet from MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine, the band is "almost done with the writing" of its new album and will begin tracking the follow-up to 2013's "Super Collider" next week.
As BLABBERMOUTH.NET exclusively reported as a "rumor" on March 14, it was made official this past weekend that MEGADETH has hired drummer Chris Adler (LAMB OF GOD) to play on the band's new CD.
In a statement, Dave Mustaine called Chris "a tremendous talent" and "an amazing person" who is "going to bring a new level of excitement and energy to MEGADETH that the fans are going to lose their minds over."
Adler was equally excited about playing with MEGADETH, saying: "I'm coming into this on fire. There is an incredible amount of respect, but the goal here is to make the very best thrash album we can — not just throw names in the CD booklet or be a 'yes' man. Together, I believe we can do something very special."
In addition to Mustaine, Adler and bassist David Ellefson, the recording lineup for MEGADETH's new album is rumored to include Brazilian guitarist Kiko Loureiro, best known for his work with ANGRA.
MEGADETH has yet to announce permanent replacements for drummer Shawn Drover and guitarist Chris Broderick, who quit the group last year.
The band was still finalizing the recording lineup for its new album earlier in the month, with Mustaine tweeting on March 10 that he was "excited to be auditioning one of my final picks for my new guitarist today."
Drover quit MEGADETH on November 25, 2014 "to pursue [his] own musical interests." His statement can be found at this location. Guitarist Chris Broderick announced his departure from MEGADETH a few hours later, saying that he was exiting the group "due to artistic and musical differences."
Almost done with the writing of the new record. One more week before tracking starts. #Megadeth15

GUTTER INSTINCT – Details Of Debut EP The Insurrection RevealedSwedish death metal quintet Gutter Instinct will release their debut EP, the four-track The Insurrection, on May 19th (North America), May 18th (UK/EU) and May 22nd (Germany).
Recorded at Helsingborg's Studio Mangelrum with Kristofer Orstadius, the band drew inspiration from newer bands such as Teitanblood, Bölzer, Grave Miasma, Black Witchery and Portal to expand their distinct grinding tone with dark, haunting blackened smatterings. Further details on the new EP will be released in the coming weeks, including the worldwide premiere of the new track "The Invisble Hand" on April 14th.
Gutter Instinct was founded in 2012 by Oscar Persson, Hannes Hellman and Thomas Ernemyr in Helsingborg, Sweden, after having played together in various bands over the years. The aim was to unleash a unique combination of grinding death metal – no compromise, no remorse. Starting out, major musical influences included bands like Verminous, Necrovation, Death, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Rotten Sound and Napalm Death.
After writing and rehearsing four revolutionary and unholy songs, the band entered Studio Mangelrum to record their first demo tape, Obedience. Oppression, anti-religion and total rejection of the establishment were the leading themes. The demo was self-released by the band in 2013. After some various role changes in the rhythm section, the lineup became Ernemyr (vocals), Persson (guitar), Hellman (guitar), Simon Isakssn (bass) and Ola Håkansson (drums).

EDEN’S CURSE – Official Website Launched; Live Album, New Guitarist AnnouncedMultinational melodic metallers Eden’s Curse featuring Michael Eden has announced their new official website that contains all the latest news, merch and information at EdensCurse.net.
Eden’s Curse has plans to mix their upcoming live CD Devil In Disguise…LIVE! in May. Devil In Disguise…LIVE was recorded last November in Illinois and features 12 Curse classics and will be produced by Michael Eden and co-produced by lead guitarist Richard Kendrick (Lillian Axe)
A summer 2015 release is planned for the new live album.
Eden’s Curse would officially like to welcome six stringer Risto Tuominen (Human Temple) to the family. The band is slowly starting to work on some new songs and look forward to getting back into the studio.
Michael Eden was recently contacted by the legal team representing overseas record label AFM Records. This communication was prompted because the American Eden’s Curse launched a new website which sold previously recorded works. This communication has odd timing, being the overseas band has chosen to use Michael Eden’s original backing vocals from previous studio works without his written consent on their live release that came out a few weeks ago. Backing vocals on the overseas live CD also include Dream Theater's James LaBrie and Helloween's Andi Deris.
Michael Eden added "Knowing how these people operate, I'd say they contacted none of the other vocalists for their consent in my opinion. They never asked my permission and that's on them. What they do with another singers voice on tape is of no concern of mine. Using my voice is wrong all together but using the lead vocal of Andi Deris is beyond stupid! It must be sad to have a new singer who clearly needs the help of backing tapes to help sell his live performance”
AFM Records has magically claimed exclusive download rights and ownership to material recorded and released for Metal Mayhem Music and has yet to reveal any legal paperwork that would prove their claim. Several attempts to work this situation out by contacting Paul Logue (Original Eden's Curse bass player) and the label’s attorney have been ignored.
Eden’s Curse continues to see an excellent response to the new website and the band are looking forward to what the rest of 2015 will bring. Everyone is working diligently in continuing the original vision which Eden’s Curse has always been about... The music.

Italy’s THE MUGSHOTS Release “Frozen” Single Featuring BLACK WIDOW’s Clive Jones; Video StreamingGcm Music & Alka Records have released “Frozen”, the new single by The Mugshots; the first European band ever produced by the legendary Dick Wagner. The song is a very personal cover of a famous Madonna masterpiece and features (unfortunately his last work) Clive Jones on sax and flute, from the legendary English band Black Widow - the first group to introduce occult themes in rock music. Mastering has been accomplished par excellence by Dr. Gil Markle, long time collaborator of Dick Wagner, who has also worked with Aerosmith, Stevie Wonder and The Rolling Stones, just to name a few.
Says lead vocalist Mickey E. Vil ,“Working on 'Frozen' has been a unique human and artistic experience. Clive Jones knew this would have been his final work and, as his life faded away, he channeled all of his vital energy into his flute and saxophone to add the song an ethereal dimension.”
The Mugshots are an Italian rock group who's influences are primarily Alice Cooper, along with The Stranglers and The Misfits. The quintet from Brescia have already released two albums and several EPs. Though based in Italy, The Mugshots were born in New York City in 2001 when lead singer, Mickey E. Vil, visiting the United States, chose the band's name after listening to an Alice Cooper record (DaDa, 1983). As their name would suggest, dark crime stories have infused the band's lyrics from the very beginning. As the Mugshots’ lineup was developing over the next few years, the band released two full-length albums, House Of The Weirdos and Weird Theater plus an EP, titled Doctor Is Out. Then in 2009, the band's present lineup was consolidated. In 2010, The Mugshots released a limited edition EP titled In Disguise through an independent Italian record label. This EP was made available on both red vinyl and CD and garnered enthusiastic reviews around the world.
In 2012, The Mugshots teamed up with the legendary Dick Wagner, producer and guitarist for such great rock icons as Alice Cooper, Lou Reed, KISS, Aerosmith, Peter Gabriel, Ray Manzarek and Mark Farner among others. This collaboration resulted in another EP titled Love, Lust And Revenge on which Wagner arranged, co-wrote and played lead guitars. Dick Wagner sadly passed away in July 2014, making this EP one of his last productions.
“A perfect European/American mixture of Rock sensibilities and mystery that is worldly and unearthly at the same time. I am very proud of this music and of The Mugshots for their tenacity and terrific talent!” - Dick Wagner
Throughout their career, The Mugshots have shared the stage with The Stranglers, The Damned, UK Subs, Hugh Cornwell, Dick Wagner, Brian James, TV Smith, Eddie And The Hot Rods, Baz Warne, The Lords Of Altamont, Demented Are Go, Koffin Kats, Zombina & The Skeletones, among many others. 2

KEN MODE To Release Success Album In June; “Blessed” Video Featuring OXBOW’s Eugene Robinson StreamingJUNO-Award winning metallic noise rock band KEN mode will see their sixth studio album, Success, released on June 16th through New Damage Records in Canada. The album is now available for pre-order at iTunes and New Damage Records. Fans who pre-order the album digitally will receive the lead single “Blessed” as an instant grat track.
Today, KEN mode shares the music video for “Blessed”. Directed by Christopher Mills (Rush, Metric), the video features appearances from guest vocalist Eugene Robinson (Oxbow), guest cellist Natanielle Felicitas and guest noise by Full of Hell’s Dylan Walker. Watch below.
Success, is the follow-up record to the band’s Polaris-recognized and JUNO-nominated album Entrench. Produced by legendary engineer Steve Albini (Nirvana, The Pixies), the album marks a departure for the band both sonically and lyrically. The 9 tracks that make up their latest offering, showcase a shift from the classic spitting of metallic hardcore tinged vitriol, that the band has become know for, to a more raw, mature and even at times humorous indie rock aesthetic. Recorded entirely to analog tape in the band’s home of Winnipeg, MB, Success is the most rock and roll effort the band has ever put forth.
When writing their latest album, the band set out to pay tribute to where they've come from. The album is a salute to both their Canadian Prairie roots and a time when they first started to care about making music; the burgeoning 'grunge' and Touch & Go/Dischord scenes of the late 80's/early 90s. Lyrically, the band's fascination with comedy spirals around classical western concepts of 'success' - from employment, sex, marriage, religion, socioeconomic standing, and particularly the many perceptions people have of how they, and those around them, happen to fit into the world.
Formed in 1999, KEN mode is comprised of Jesse Matthewson (Guitar, Piano, Vocals), Shane Matthewson (Drums) and newly acquired bassist Skot Hamilton. To date, the band has released five internationally distributed full-length records, including 2011’s JUNO award-winning Venerable and 2013’s WCMA winning album Entrench. Known for their devastating live shows, KEN mode has been actively touring Canada, the United States and Europe since 2002 with
such acts as Russian Circles, Torche, Deafheaven, Norma Jean, Kylesa, Pelican, Daughters, Revocation and Today is the Day, maintaining an unrelenting schedule for the past 5 years.
KEN mode has just announced a short North American tour in support of Success for June with Fight Amp. The tour features Canadian dates in Toronto, Montreal and Winnipeg.
