HOLY MOSES: More 'Redefined Mayhem' Details RevealedGerman thrash metal veterans HOLY MOSES will release new studio album, "Redefined Mayhem", in Scandinavia on April 23, in Germany on April 25, in the rest of Europe on April 28 and in the USA on April 29 through SPV/Steamhammer as a CD; double gatefold LP with colored vinyl plus a bonus track; a CD in a cardboard sleeve; and as a digital download. The CD and LP versions will have different covers.
HOLY MOSES no longer have anything to prove to the international metal scene. Their multi-faceted thrash metal, frontwoman Sabina Classen's charismatic voice and their unique mix of traditional attitude and experimental evolvement have been instrumental in establishing the band as a known quantity since the beginning of their career in the early 1980s.
"Redefined Mayhem" is a prime example of an album which expertly blends past and present.
"HOLY MOSES have never released standard thrash songs, and we never will," Sabina Classen explains with some pride. "We write songs which we like ourselves and don't compromise in terms of trends and concessions to wrong expectations. We don't have to please everybody, we're our own brand, we have our own sound, which includes the occasional odd beat, technically demanding passages and unusual chord structures as well as interesting lyrics which deal with the dark side of people and their minds."
That HOLY MOSES mark 2014 don't show any symptoms of fatigue is mainly due to their perfect balance consisting of founder members and musicians who have played in other groups: vocalist Sabina Classen has been the voice and face of HOLY MOSES since 1981, bassist Thomas Neitsch has been in the band for six years, drummer Gerd Lücking joined the fold three years ago, and guitarist Peter Geltat was enlisted in 2012, supporting his colleagues immediately in a number of successful shows such as the Barge To Hell cruise 2012. The current lineup is ready to face new challenges in a permanently evolving metal genre.
"This is HOLY MOSES mark 2014, and 'Redefined Mayhem' defines a new chapter of our band history," explains Sabina Classen, adding: "We had to redefine ourselves as a band and gel as a team. There were people who voiced their doubts that it would work. But the new songs prove beyond all doubt that HOLY MOSES continue to be a force to be reckoned with."
There can be no doubt: "Redefined Mayhem" sees HOLY MOSES 2014 reach a new pinnacle of their creative work. Their fans can look forward to a contemporary thrash metal oeuvre which reflects the band members' influence while skilfully forging an arch to the group's successful past with classics such as "Finished With The Dogs" (1987) and "The New Machine Of Liechtenstein" (1989). Classen says: "It's still first-rate thrash metal, fast-paced and powerful, chaotic at times but with a modern touch and amazingly multi-faceted guitars and drums."

DOWN: 'IV - Part Two' EP Details RevealedDOWN will release a new EP, "Down IV - Part Two", on May 13 via Down Records/ADA Music. Tracked at Nodferatu's Lair — iconic vocalist Philip H. Anselmo's home studio — and produced by Michael Thompson, Anselmo and DOWN, the new EP is the eagerly anticipated sequel to "Down IV - Part One". The new offering from DOWN is packed with the quintet's signature gargantuan riffs, swamp blues leads, crashing drums and hypnotic howls, upholding a certain tradition that countless fans celebrate, expanding their own musical mythos as they leave its pillars intact and untouched.
In support of the upcoming record, DOWN will take their renowned live show on the road this spring, joining BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and DEVIL YOU KNOW on a North American tour. The tour, which also includes DOWN headlining shows and festival appearances, begins at Iron City in Birmingham, Alabama on May 2, and ends at Rocklahoma in Pryor, Oklahoma on May 25. The run also includes an appearance on May 24 at Emo's in Austin at the "Rock the Heart" concert, a benefit for the late Mike Scaccia's (RIGOR MORTIS, MINISTRY) "Heart Rock" foundation, with the goal of raising awareness about heart disease.
When Anselmo, Pepper Keenan, Jimmy Bower, Pat Bruders, and Bobby Landgraf retreated to Nodferatu's Lair at Anselmo's Lousiana home in the fall of 2013, things had changed a bit. For the first time in the band's storied career, Kirk Windstein wouldn't be handling guitar duties alongside Keenan. Instead, longtime "family" member, stage manager, and HONKY guitarist Landgraf took the reins.
"He was immediately at home," affirms Anselmo. "Bobby had always been that guy in case of anything. Knowing his personality, he really locked in with what we do and took it to heart. He made himself belong. Honestly, the first day he came down he contributed a very strong riff to a key song. There's that Southern element, which is imperative. I also catch a real old heavy metal vibe from this record. I can't stress this enough. He took it all on, and he did a fucking awesome job."
Keenan adds, "Even with the lineup differences, it's interesting how the songs still sound very DOWN. Bobby and I have always locked in. It's not just physically either, but mentally as well. We see eye-to-eye, and he's been watching for a long time."
"It was a big deal for me," beams Landgraf. "I drove ten hours up from Texas that first day, cracked a beer, and plugged in. We jumped right into the room, and I played this part. They all smiled. That was the moment for me. I'm a longtime fan, and I knew we were friends, but being a part of the writing and working towards something together was just incredible. As a guitar player, one of my goals was to be in a group like this. I want to make everyone proud."
The fans will undoubtedly take pride in this collection as well. Making good on DOWN's promise of a series of EPs, the second installment sees a pronounced progression amongst the individuals themselves as well.
"We wanted to back up our word as far as releasing these EPs," Anselmo goes on. "Everybody was fixated on that. This is the shortest period of time between our releases, and every one stepped it up and upped his game. Keenan, Bower, Bruders and Landgraf all contributed some excellent riffs. Having all of this fresh input makes for a different listen and a new perspective on what DOWN should and does sound like. All of that yields a unique record off the bat."
For the future, DOWN's sights are set on endless touring. Landgraf made his formal stage debut when the band headlined Anselmo's first annual Housecore Horror Film Festival in front of a packed audience of the faithful in October 2013. Now, it's just about bringing that inimitable sound everywhere possible.
"Down IV - Part Two" track listing:
01. Steeple
02. We Knew Him Well
03. Hogshead/Dogshead
04. Conjure
05. Sufferer's Years
06. Bacchanalia 6

Reunited GREEN CARNATION To Play Second 'A Night Under The Dam' Concept ShowNorwegian prog-rock/avantgarde legends GREEN CARNATION will reunite to perform their second concept show, "A Night Under The Dam", deep in the mountains of South Norway on July 31. The concert will include both acoustic and plugged parts and showcase songs from all of the band's five albums.
GREEN CARNATION achieved cult status with prog-rock/avant-garde metal fans all over the world in the early 2000s with its 60-minute masterpiece "Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness", and is renowned for releasing extraordinary records and DVDs throughout its career.
The band's last big show before disbanding was the first "A Night Under The Dam", which was later released on DVD. The band performed its entire album "Acoustic Verses" with guest artists and Kristiansand String Quartet. It is on this exact spot the band will make its comeback eight years later.
"The first 'Under The Dam' was a very special evening for us," says GREEN CARNATION founding member Tchort. "People from USA, Italy, Netherlands, Ireland and a few more countries found their way to deep into the Norwegian mountains. We hope to create something very unique again. It wasn't really an option to redo exactly what we did last time, and we will be working hard to give the audience more than they expect."
Adds GREEN CARNATION singer Kjetil Nordhus: "This is not something that has been in the pipeline at all. I think the different band members really did not expect ever to get together again as GREEN CARNATION again. But when we had a chance to play 'Under The Dam' again, we sat down, discussed the possibilities and it was soon clear that this was something we were all very much up for. We are all in a different stage in life now, and simply cannot wait to work creatively together again."
GREEN CARNATION will be available for festivals and special shows in the foreseeable future. 5

DEEP PURPLE: Deluxe Edition Of Seminal Live Album 'Made In Japan' Due In MayUniversal Music has announced the deluxe release of DEEP PURPLE's seminal live album "Made In Japan" in multiple formats on May 19.
Together with LED ZEPPELIN and BLACK SABBATH, DEEP PURPLE has been referred to as the "unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal" in the early to mid-Seventies. One of the most influential and important guitar bands in history, they have sold over 100 million albums worldwide.
"Made In Japan" was recorded live over three nights during August 15–17, 1972 at Festival Hall, Osaka and Budokan, Tokyo. Four of the tracks come from the band's 1972 "Machine Head" album. It featured what many consider the classic DEEP PURPLE lineup — Ian Gillan (vocals), Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Roger Glover (bass), Jon Lord (organ) and Ian Paice (drums). Originally recorded only for the Japanese market, the album has since become seen as one of DEEP PURPLE's seminal albums, and one of the greatest live albums of all time (A Rolling Stone magazine readers poll in 2012 voted "Made In Japan" as the sixth greatest live album of all time).
May 19, 2014 will see the album newly remastered and released in a number of special formats. The format options include previously unseen footage on DVD, bonus material and mixes, memorabilia and a hardback book.
The "Made In Japan" formats:
* Limited Edition Super Deluxe 4 CD+DVD+7" Boxed Set and Limited-Edition Super Deluxe 9LP Boxed Set* Deluxe Edition 2CD* 180g 2LP* Blu-ray Pure Audio* HD Download* MFiT* Standard Digital format
METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich last year told writer Peter Makowski that he is working on getting his all-time favorite band, DEEP PURPLE, a long-overdue spot in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Asked why the creators of "Smoke On The Water" were not in there yet, Ulrich said, "What you've got to understand is that a lot of the people that have run the selection process are critics, and DEEP PURPLE, as you know, were never a critic's band — especially in America, because their influence was probably felt more in Europe." But Ulrich added, "It's only a matter of time. Rather sooner than later. We've already lost one member. The fact that LED ZEPPELIN and BLACK SABBATH are in and PURPLE is not is one of the crimes of that whole institution. We'll get them in soon enough. I'm working on it."
Founding PURPLE keyboardist Jon Lord passed away in July 2012. Ulrich, who wrote a tribute to Lord on METALLICA's web site, told Makowski, "I'm not sure that the people in today's hard rock world really truly understand how innovative this guy was . . . he really did something nobody had done before with the sound of the keyboards and I think that's probably the biggest thing to remember him for."
At their own induction in 2009, METALLICA's James Hetfield included PURPLE on a list of acts they wanted to see in the Hall. "We're somewhat of a heavy band and we have a small list that we'd like to also put some nods out and maybe plant a little seed, it's a band called DEEP PURPLE, THIN LIZZY, RUSH, KISS, TED NUGENT, IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST, MOTÖRHEAD... who we would love to invite through the door now."
DEEP PURPLE was denied entry to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2013 — losing out to such artists as American pop singer-songwriter Randy Newman and R&B singer Donna Summer.
The members of PURPLE, who released a new album titled "Now What?!" on April 30, 2013 in North America via earMUSIC, say it is no big loss.
"I fought against, all my life, becoming institutionalized. So it really does not affect me," singer Ian Gillan told Noisecreep. "But on the other hand, my family and friends and everyone that has stuck with us all these years, it means something to them. They love that recognition.
"To analyze it, and I'll try not to sound cocky or anything, I will say it as respectfully as I can, it's sort of like the Oscars and Grammys and the other awards like that — in the States, just like it is in England, and other places — these awards and honors are usually not decided by the fans, but by a cartel of influential people. These are the same people that decided THE MONKEES were America's answer to THE BEATLES. [laughs]
"So I'm not too concerned about it. Maybe it will happen one day, bit if not, my diary is full and I'm very happy. It hasn't affected our career but it does concern the fans — that's who I feel for." 1

HIM Robbed Of 'Irreplaceable Items'A "back bag containing irreplaceable items" was allegedly stolen from the dressing room of Finnish love metallers HIM when they performed a headlining concert last night (Wednesday, February 26) at 170 Russell (formerly Billboard) in Melbourne, Australia.
After the show, the quintet posted a message on Facebook alerting fans of the alleged theft along with an image of the suspected thief taken from surveillance camera footage.
"Anyone in Melbourne Australia know this guy?" the band wrote. "Please help up as and the police to catch this guy!"
HIM is currently touring Australia as part of this year's Soundwave festival.
The band's latest album, "Tears On Tape", sold 20,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 15 on The Billboard 200 chart.
HIM's previous CD, 2010's "Screamworks: Love In Theory And Practice", opened with 26,000 units to land at No. 25.

SHINEDOWN's 'The Crow & The Butterfly' Gets 'American Idol' Treatment From Contestant JESSICA MEUSESlapout, Alabama's "American Idol" star Jessica Meuse, who was one of 13 contestants to perform on Wednesday night's (February 26) episode of the Fox TV talent show, delivered her rendition of SHINEDOWN's "The Crow & The Butterfly" a song from the band's 2008 album "The Sound Of Madness". Check out video footage of her appearance below.
According to AL.com, mentor Randy Jackson counseled Meuse, 23, during rehearsals to dig deeply into the emotions. "She has to find a way to commit to the feeling in the song and communicate that to the audience and judges," Jackson said.
Judge Keith Urban said, "That was a bold but cool song choice," and praised the "dark, haunting quality" of Meuse's delivery, adding that her voice has an "an edge and a rasp that's really appealing."
"I thought it was strong, man," fellow judge Harry Connick said. "I heard a different sound in your voice. That was really nice."
"The Crow & The Butterfly" was the fifth single from "The Sound Of Madness".
SHINEDOWN singer Brent Smith explained in a radio interview that while the band was writing the CD, he had a dream about a mother whose son passes away. He wrote the song about the mother dealing with the death of her child and trying to move on.
On the SHINEDOWN blog, Smith said this about the song: "For me, lyrically, this was one of the most intense stories I have ever written. But I know the song means something different to everyone." 1

ASIA: 'Gravitas' EPK AvailableAn EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for ASIA's new album, "Gravitas", can be seen below. Produced and written by band members John Wetton and Geoff Downes, the CD is deeply introspective within a clearly accessible sound. The album also introduces the world to ASIA's new guitarist, Sam Coulson, who came at the recommendation of MR. BIG's Paul Gilbert.
Scheduled for release on Frontiers Records on March 21 (Europe); and March 25 (North America), the album will be available in two configurations: a standard CD and a Deluxe Edition, that will include two bonus tracks and a DVD containing the "Valkyrie" music video, a promotional film, and footage of classic live ASIA tracks such as "Heat Of The Moment", recorded with the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra in Bulgaria.
From the title track, "Gravitas", which chronicles a man's struggle in the battlefield of life, to the powerfully compelling tale of unrequited love, "The Closer I Get To You", the album is a tour de force for the band whose music has become a staple to rock fans.
"Pure, unadulterated and stereotypical ASIA, with raw energy, enthusiasm and free from impurities," says John Wetton. "It conveys the spectrum of emotion and color from real-life agonies to ecstatic fantasy of escapism. Great songs, fabulous performance. 'Gravitas' is ASIA by ASIA. At last."
"With the addition of Sam, it allowed us to take the band in a slightly different, and perhaps tougher, direction," says Carl Palmer. "As a band, we have been able to grow, while at the same time, remain true to the classic ASIA sound that our fans know and love."
ASIA's debut album exploded onto the music scene in April 1982, and was the best-selling album in the world of that year. Featuring Geoff Downes on keyboards; Steve Howe on guitar; Carl Palmer on drums; and John Wetton on lead vocals and bass; ASIA was the logical successor to their collective bands of the '70s — YES, ELP, KING CRIMSON, UK and THE BUGGLES. The original ASIA reformed in 2006 for the first time in 23 years.
"It always was a great live band, but this time the dragon has awakened with fresh energy, direction and purpose," says Wetton.
"As with any new ASIA album, putting it all together presents something of a challenge," says Geoff Downes. "Everyone involved rose way above and beyond this challenge. There is a renewed energy when we step on stage now; we can feel it and I know the fans can feel it."
For ASIA's long-devoted fans, the band's return to the concert stage cannot come soon enough. As Palmer says: "Performing on stage is where this band truly comes into its element. Seeing the fans reacting to our music is what makes it all worthwhile. It is the fuel that drives this train we call ASIA."
"Gravitas" track listing: 01. Valkyrie02. Gravitas03. The Closer I Get To You04. Nyctophobia05. Russian Dolls06. Heaven Help Me Now07. I Would Die For You08. Joe Di Maggio's Glove09. Till We Meet Again10. The Closer I Get To You (acoustic)*11. Joe Di Maggio's Glove (acoustic)*

* Available only on the Deluxe Edition
The "Valkyrie" video can be seen below. According to USA Today, ASIA bassist John Wetton drew his inspiration for the song from the Norse deities who accompany the souls of heroic warriors to Valhalla.
"I've got a bit of a fetish about the sacred feminine," Wetton said. "A lot of my songs are about deities, and not necessarily male ones. In the whole myth of valkyrie, she is more powerful than many of the male gods."
The "Valkyrie" video was shot primarily in Los Angeles and London, with Wetton shooting his portion on a beach near Topanga, California.

KAMELOT: Part One Of South American Tour Recap (Video)Part one of a video recap of KAMELOT's South American tour, which took place earlier in the month, can be seen below.
Keyboardist Oliver Palotai sat out KAMELOT's most recent North American tour so he could stay home with longtime girlfriend Simone Simons, (EPICA singer) as they awaited the birth of their first child. Filling in for him was Coen Janssen of EPICA.
KAMELOT's latest album, "Silverthorn", sold 5,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 79 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous CD, "Poetry For The Poisoned", opened with around 6,100 units in September 2010 to enter the chart at No. 74.
"Silverthorn" was released on October 30, 2012 in North America, October 26, 2012 in Germany and October 29, 2012 in the rest of Europe via Steamhammer/SPV. The CD marks the band's first release with Tommy Karevik, the Swedish vocalist who previously fronted SEVENTH WONDER (a group that he is still a member of).
In a 2012 interview with Loudwire, KAMELOT guitarist Thomas Youngblood stated about what Karevik brings to the band: "I think when we knew we had to bring in a new person on vocals, we wanted the opportunity to grow the band, not just to maintain the band or survive. We wanted to look at this as an opportunity to make the band bigger, [and] I think with Tommy we can do that. Not only is he an exceptional singer, he's a great songwriter and he's way ahead of what I thought he would be in terms of being a frontman. People who come out to shows will see that this guy is a force to be reckoned with. I can't imagine a better choice, honestly. In the beginning, when this whole thing started, we were a little unsure of what the future might be, but now we're really excited about it."

DAVE MUSTAINE: When I Left METALLICA, I Totally Re-Evaluated My Guitar PlayingThe first episode of "Metalhead To Head", a web-only show where metal masters sit down together for surprisingly candid conversation and plenty of one-time-only music demonstrations and collaborations, can be seen at Fuse.tv. The episode features Dave Mustaine and Ricky Warwick (BLACK STAR RIDERS, THIN LIZZY). New episodes will debut every other Wednesday. Always at 1 p.m. ET. And always on Fuse.tv.
Asked by Warwick about his lead-guitar technique, Mustaine said: "When I was in METALLICA, when I would write solos back then, I wrote them out. And then when I left, I totally re-evaluated my guitar playing and went from playing guitar because I loved it to playing guitar because I was pissed."
He continued: "Playing, for me, doing solos and stuff like that, there's a lot of technique stuff that people do, they do sweeping and stuff like that and they do a lot of stuff that's real pretty-looking, but you know what?! After a while, someone sweeping through a whole solo, it's, like, enough already. I believe that David Gilmour can do more with one note than half of these kids that are out there now that can just do these mind-blowing solos."
Artist pairings for future "Metalhead To Head" episodes include:
* Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER, THE WINERY DOGS) & Arejay Hale (HALESTORM)* Dave Ellefson (MEGADETH) & Doug Pinnick (KING'S X)* Gus G. (FIREWIND, OZZY OSBOURNE) & Mark Heylmun (SUICIDE SILENCE)* Rudy Sarzo (QUIET RIOT, OZZY OSBOURNE) & Frank Bello (ANTHRAX)* Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX) & Ray Luzier (KORN) * Billy Sheehan (THE WINERY DOGS) & Marco Mendoza (BLACK STAR RIDERS, THIN LIZZY)* Eric Choi (WE CAME AS ROMANS) & Alex Lopez (SUICIDE SILENCE)* Michael Sweet (STRYPER) & Alex Skolnick (TESTAMENT)* George Lynch (DOKKEN, LYNCH MOB) & Chris Broderick (MEGADETH)* Marty Friedman (MEGADETH) & Ben Weinman (THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN) 9

MISS MAY I: 'Gone' Video Released"Gone", the new video from Ohio metallers MISS MAY I, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's fourth album, "Rise Of The Lion", which will be released on April 29 via Rise Records. The CD was produced by Terry Date, who has previously worked with PANTERA, DEFTONES, WHITE ZOMBIE and BRING ME THE HORIZON, among others.
MISS MAY I vocalist Levi Benton recently told Metal Hammer about the band's decision to work with Date: "We chose Terry because we’re all huge PANTERA freaks. If you ever get the chance to work with him, you take it! We've always wanted to work with him but we was always out of our price range. He's the Bentley of producers and we could only afford a Ford. [Laughs]"
Regarding the musical direction of MISS MAY I's new material, Benton said: "A lot of it could be considered leftfield for us. I won't go into detail because when you do that, people expect something that they may not particularly hear, but when we finished 'At Heart', we were all stoked and thought we'd thrown everything we had into it. After a couple of years touring and growing, we've come back to writing and have been adding different influences. There's some slower, heavier stuff, thrashier parts and no two songs sound the same. We're doing something to challenge ourselves and our listeners but please both, too." "Rise Of The Lion" track listing:
01. Refuse To Believe02. Lunatik03. Gone04. Echoes05. You Want Me06. Tangled Tongues07. Hero With No Name08. Darker Days09. The End Of Me10. Saints, Sinners, and Greats
"Rise Of The Lion" will be available in digital, physical CD and vinyl versions.
The worldwide release of "Rise Of The Lion" will be supported by a brief headline tour of the United States this April and May, with support from FOR THE FALLEN DREAMS. MISS MAY I will stop in eight cities, including a closer in their home state of Ohio at Rock On The Range.

CLAWFINGER: 'The Truth' Performance Clip From 'Deafer Dumber Blinder'20 years after its original release, preparations started for the ultimate anniversary edition of CLAWFINGER's classic album, "Deaf Dumb Blind", one of the most important crossover albums of the 1990s. "Deaf Dumb Blind" was turned into "Deafer Dumber Blinder" (which can be taken as a promise considering content of the extensive reissue):
CD 1: Original Album - Deaf Dumb Blind CD 2: The Best Of B-Sides (17 Tracks) CD 3: The Best Of Demos (20 Tracks) DVD: Live In Woodstock + Documentary, MTV Specials & more
"Deafer Dumber Blinder" will be released on March 7 in Europe and April 15 in North America via AFM Records.
A performance clip of the song "The Truth", taken from the "Deafer Dumber Blinder" DVD, can be seen below.
Comments CLAWFINGER guitarist Bård Torstensen: "None of us would have thought in the early Nineties that we ould live our dream for almost two decades, travel the world and play for millions of people on three continents (Europe, America, Asia).
"Our anniversary box, 'Deafer Dumber Blinder', reflects pretty much what CLAWFINGER is all about.
"Enjoy the unreleased demotracks from early days up 'till 2005, a bunch of good B-sides, the classics from 'Deaf Dumb Blind', and have fun with a live DVD from Woodstock Festival Poland where we played in front of more than 100,000 people back in 2009. This DVD also contains bonus material. (2 Scandinavian documentaries, festival clips, MTV Most Wanted)."
Adds CLAWFINGER frontman Zak Tell: "'Deafer, Bumber, Blinder', the last and the tastiest piece of chocolate in the box is coming your way. It's a treat so sweet you just can't resist it. Demos, B-sides, Live footage, photos, the story of CLAWFINGER's humble beginning and more.
"This sucker comes with material no one has ever seen or heard before and it will be in stores shortly so be sure to keep your ears and eyes open and scream your heart out when it arrives.
"The kings are dead, long live the kings."
Says CLAWFINGER keyboardist Jocke Skog: "We've gone through a lot of stuff to make this a box worth owning.
"It's a tad late for an anniversary box since we released the first one back in 1993, but in this era where everything is online, it doesn't matter that much.
"Enjoy! I know I will."
CLAWFINGER's final studio album, "Life Will Kill You", was released in the U.S. in July 2008 via Locomotive Records. The CD, which entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 89 upon its European release in 2007, was recorded and produced at Sweden's Fear And Loathing Studios, a facility that CLAWFINGER runs along with the members of MESHUGGAH.

DEVILDRIVER: Lyric Video For Cover Of AWOLNATION's 'Sail'The official lyric video for DEVILDRIVER's cover version of indie/electro mob AWOLNATION's hit "Sail" can be seen below. The song appears on DEVILDRIVER's latest album, "Winter Kills", which sold around 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 32 on The Billboard 200 chart. This figure is in line with the opening number of DEVILDRIVER's fifth CD, "Beast", which also shifted 11,000 units back in February 2011 to land at No. 42.
Regarding DEVILDRIVER's decision to cover "Sail", the band's lead singer, Dez Fafara, said: "Yeah. I was in the car one day and [my teenage sons] were playing the song and I absolutely connected with the lyrics 'Blame it on my ADD.' I mean, I suffered from attention deficit my whole life. And the song has the word 'sail' in it and I've been on tour for 20 years, so I liked it. I hit the guys up, they got back to me in five minutes and we're, like, 'Let's cover this.' But DEVILDRIVER likes to cover obscure tunes; we covered 'Black Soul Choir' from 16 HORSEPOWER.
"We started to realize that's more fun; covering obscure stuff is more fun. We've never really done anything that's current …
"My kids were playing it around the house and I was, like, 'Man, I really like this song.' We heard that AWOLNATION has heard it and they like the cover as well, which is really cool. When you're covering another artist's song and they like what you've done with it, that's always a pleasure."
The instrumental parts for "Winter Kills" were recorded at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida while the vocals were laid down at Dez Fafara's home studio, with Mark Lewis (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, WHITECHAPEL, ALL THAT REMAINS) handling production duties. The album's cover artwork features a photograph by Dean Karr. The layout was done by Ryan Clark of Invisible Creature.
"Winter Kills" was made available in four configurations, including a deluxe digibook with CD (including two bonus tracks, "Shudder" and "Back Down To The Grave") and live DVD (featuring 45 minutes of live raw DEVILDRIVER power — no studio overdubs at all, just the band at their best — and including fan favorites "Clouds Over California" and "The Wretched"), standard CD version, digital version and, for the first time in DEVILDRIVER history, a 2LP gatefold edition.

ROB ZOMBIE: New Concert DVD Track Listing UnveiledRob Zombie will release a new concert DVD and Blu-ray, apparently titled "The Zombie Horror Picture Show", in May. The cover artwork for the set can be seen below. The disc will feature footage filmed during stops on last year's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Mayhem Festival tour in Houston on August 3, 2013 and Dallas on August 4.
DVD and Blu-ray track listing is as follows:
01. Teenage Nosferatu Pussy02. Superbeast03. Super-Charger Heaven (originally by WHITE ZOMBIE)04. Living Dead Girl 05. We're An American Band (GRAND FUNK RAILROAD cover)06. More Human Than Human (originally by WHITE ZOMBIE)07. Sick Bubblegum 08. Never Gonna Stop 09. Ging Gang Gong De Do Gong De Laga Raga10. Meet The Creeper 11. Mars Needs Women 12. House Of 1000 Corpses 13. The Lords Of Salem 14. Dead City Radio And The New Gods Of Supertown 15. Thunder Kiss '65 (originally by WHITE ZOMBIE)16. Dragula
Zombie has never released a concert DVD before and told an Albany radio station that he always thought of doing one as a "huge nuisance," adding, "After the show is done, I don't care. I don't want to relive it… I never wanna hear about it again, I never wanna see it again. Like, I never watch anything — a TV show I've been on; I don't care. Once it's done, it's done. But I figured at least once we should film it."
Zombie did roll cameras during his 2008 "Educated Horses" tour, but had very different plans for that still-unseen footage. "I didn't want to really just make a live DVD 'cause I thought, like, who cares," he told The Pulse Of Radio. What I really did was I made, like, a tour documentary, where like it starts with the first rehearsal through building the stage through, you know, traveling and flying and playing every show and after show and this and that. And, you know, it's so many hundreds of hours of footage."
Zombie's fifth solo album, "Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor", came out last April and entered the Billboard album chart at No. 7 with first-week sales of 34,000 copies.
Zombie will kick off a 12-date run of shows on April 26 in Fort Myers, Florida at the Fort Rock festival, mixing other major rock festival stops with headlining shows before wrapping it up on May 10 in Camden, New Jersey. 1

* Mark Boals (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) - Vocals * Oni Logan (LYNCH MOB) - Vocals * Craig Goldy (DIO) - Guitar * Bjorn Englen (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) - Bass * Scott Warren (DIO,HEAVEN & HELL) - Keyboards * Simon Wright (DIO, AC/DC, UFO) - Drums
Goldy last year stated about DIO DISCIPLES: "After Ronnie's passing and a lengthy mourning period, Wendy Dio and the band that was left behind have decided it was time to honor and keep the memory and legacy of Ronnie James Dio alive in the most respectful way possible!
"There is something special that happens when a group of people gather together with the same heart, mind and spirit as one another... and that is what happens every night we (the DIO DISCIPLES) perform! I never know when... but I know that it will happen because it always does... some time during the concert, the audience and the band connect and become as one!
"And with the large speaker system, lights and special performances by past members of AC/DC, JUDAS PRIEST, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN and LYNCH MOB... you don't want to rely on all the crappy little cell phone recordings that look and sound like shit posted on YouTube!
"I've never lied about anything to any DIO fan and I'm not about to start now! Every time we perform there's always several very special moments that just can't be defined into words! You just have to trust me and come experience it for yourselves! And I hope you do!"

KAMELOT: Fan-Filmed Video Footage Of Brazilian ConcertsFan-filmed video footage of KAMELOT's concerts in Belo Horizonte (February 11), Rio de Janeiro (February 8) and São Paulo (February 9), Brazil earlier in the month can be seen below.
THE SKULL Featuring Former TROUBLE Members: Deal With TEE PEE RECORDS AnnouncedTHE SKULL, the new band featuring original members of American doom metal legends TROUBLE — Eric Wagner (vocals) and Jeff "Oly" Olson (drums) —alongside longtime TROUBLE bassist Ron Holzner and SACRED DAWN guitarist Lothar Keller, has inked a deal with Tee Pee Records, the New York City record label known for releasing landmark albums from acts such as HIGH ON FIRE, GRAVEYARD, EARTHLESS and SLEEP. THE SKULL recently recorded two songs with acclaimed producer/engineer Billy Anderson (MELVINS, NEUROSIS) which will see the light of day this spring. "Sometime Yesterday Mourning" is a doomy metal song written by Keller, Holzner and Wagner that showcases the genre pioneers' distinct style while "The Last Judgement" is a "revisiting" of the classic TROUBLE song of the same name that originally appeared on the classic 1983 "Metal Massacre IV" compilation album. "I think 'Sometime Yesterday Mourning' is the perfect song for THE SKULL to lead with and there's a reason why it was the first song we completed as a band," commented Wagner. "It's about coming to a point in life when it's just time for a new beginning, a fresh start if you will, and finally coming to terms with the past.
"Being that it is the 30th anniversary of the release of the song 'The Last Judgement' — the first song we ever released — we thought it fit perfectly for the B-side and considering what 'Sometime Yesterday Mourning' is about, it made sense to me. You have to go through your past to get to your future."
THE SKULL will follow the release of the new songs with its debut full length LP, tentatively slated for release this autumn.
THE SKULL is:
Eric Wagner - vocalsJeff Olson - drumsRon Holzner - bassLothar Keller - guitar

ANETTE OLZON: Why I Decided Against Appearing In NIGHTWISH's Latest DocumentaryPlanetMosh recently conducted an interview with former NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
PlanetMosh: On the "Showtime Storytime" NIGHTWISH DVD, you don't appear in the documentary about the "Imaginaerum" tour. Why did you request that you not be seen or heard in it?
Olzon: I said I didn't want to be in that; it was my decision. There were many reasons. First of all, we had only talked about the documentary in a loose way before the tour started, that maybe we would do a documentary, and then when everything ended and they kind of fired me in a very bad way, I was quite angry and sad about the situation. Then a few months later, they asked my manager if I wanted to pay for this documentary and be in it, and my reaction was: "Why?" There's a new singer and they'd done this in a bad way, so I didn't want to participate. In many ways, it was not only because I was angry, but also because I didn't understand why, and also because I didn't want to have half of the documentary about me and then half about the new singer — there would be comparisons, and I didn't know how they would showcase me. Would they show me in a bad way or a good way? So the decision has many different layers, but I felt I didn't want to be part of it; I wanted to leave that part of my life behind me at that point.
PlanetMosh: One thing I find depressing is how many people seem obsessed with championing their favorite singer as the "best" a band has had and criticizing the other singers. Rather than simply admitting that each singer is different and has their own strengths and weaknesses they constantly compare and criticize.
Olzon: When I joined NIGHTWISH, I had very big shoes to fill and they didn't make it easy for me, the fans. It was a hard job for me to take, because the fans didn't approve of me. We sold more albums than NIGHTWISH ever had in the past, so in that way, I succeeded, but they made me feel very insecure and that I had to work so hard to be liked because of those comparisons with [former NIGHTWISH singer] Tarja [Turunen], which I find quite amusing, because we are so different. I think music is something where you can't compete, I don't think you can say who is best because we are all different and what you like may be something I don't like and I think we should stop comparing. They are quite fanatical, some of these fans, and I don't know why NIGHTWISH have this type of fan, because I don't think all bands have them, but there's something about NIGHTWISH that made these people quite fanatical.
PlanetMosh: There is also the fact that different voices work well on different things. I'm not sure how well Tarja's beautiful soprano voice would work on some of the songs from "Imaginarum", for instance, whereas your voice worked for them.
Olzon: Yes, and my voice wouldn't suit those first songs from [the debut NIGHTWISH album] "Angels Fall First", and I had some difficulty singing those songs. I think what the boys did when they changed Tarja for a new singer, they wanted something new, a new sound, but at the same time, maybe if they had chosen someone similar, maybe it would have been easier for everyone in a way, but since the guys wanted a new style, that was the choice and the fans should maybe tried to have accept it a bit more, and many of them did, of course, but it was hard for us all in many ways.
PlanetMosh: With any band breakup, there are bad memories but also hopefully good ones too. What is one of your best memories from your time with NIGHTWISH?
Olzon: I think it was when we won a big award in Germany called the Echo award, which is like a Grammy. The evening was just fantastic, I was there on the same stage with celebrities like Kylie Minogue and FOO FIGHTERS, and we actually won the prize over WITHIN TEMPTATION and FOO FIGHTERS, which was just amazing, I couldn't believe it, so that was a really nice evening, just to be a part of that big occasion, and Germany's such a huge country, you know, so it was just wonderful, so I think that is one of the best memories I have.
