Sweden’s HUMANITY’S LAST BREATH released their self-titled full-length album in late September via Rogue Records America. Today, the band is kicking of 2014 with a bang by releasing a lyric video for the track ‘Human Swarm’.
The Humanity's Last Breath album marks the first release from the band and is out now in both physical CD (limited edition digipak) format and digital download format (digital format comes with the entire album in instrumental version, as well).
This new album includes the band’s single, ‘Animal’. Listen below:
Bludgeoning your speakers with 13 tracks that grind any brains you have left into a pulp, Humanity's Last Breath once again sets the bar in the death metal genre with this self-titled offering, showing the progression of not only the band but the limits of what one can do with metal itself. Chugging riffs, thunderous drums, pounding bass and banshee like vocals take the listener through a more groove-oriented sound than the band’s last release.

Humanity's Last Breath was formed in 2009 by drummer Buster Odeholm and guitarist Kristoffer Nilsson. They have released two previous EP's, Reanimated by Hate (2009) and Structures Collapse (2011).

The official lyric video for the song "Yougr Song" from Germany's CALIBAN can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's new album, "Ghost Empire", which is being released on the following dates via Century Media Records:

The CD was produced by by guitarist Marc Görtz in cooperation with Benny Richter.

Said Görtz of the the "Ghost Empire" art, which was created by U.K. artist Chris Lovell: "Another great artist told me about Chris and his art. When I checked out his page, I loved his style and amazing drawings straight away. So I wrote him a message if he would be into designing a t-shirt design for us. It turned out great, so there was no doubt whom to ask for the new album artwork for 'Ghost Empire'! I told him what the album is about and he said that he would love to do it. It didn't take long for him to come up with first ideas which were amazing! I hope we can work with him on other projects in the future, he is a great guy and easy to work with and I think the result speaks for itself!"

Added Lovell: "I have been heavily into metal since the age of 12.

"It's always nice when a band I am a fan of contacts me with a brief for a project.

"I was stoked to read Marc's ideas as post-apocalyptic imagery is something I have an obsession with. I grew up loving films like 'Mad Max', 'Cyborg' and the 'Fist Of The North Star' anime. There's something about destroyed buildings and wastelands that stir my imagination and conjure up all kinds of haunting images in my head. It's also much more fun and easier to draw ruined buildings than perfect ones!

"Marc and I brainstormed ideas one evening and we came up with lots of elements we liked such as crows, scarecrows, rats etc. I sketched out a very rough concept idea and layout for the basic image. The front and back cover is all in one, so I had a nice wide landscape to work with. I liked the idea of a road on the main cover, leading to what could look like a hive of collapsed skyscrapers and buildings, leaning on each other and climbing into the clouds. On the left side a cliff face leading down to stormy seas and a shore line littered with ship wrecks and capsized boats.

"I wanted the image to look void of human life and haunting.

"I drew out the bulk of the main image in pencil, then used inks and acrylic paint to add depth and highlights. I then scanned the image in and coloured it with a graphics tablet on Photoshop. I drew a number of other elements, like telegraph poles, crows, skulls and rats and scanned them in separately.

"I wanted to be able to experiment with placement and give the band the option to move elements around etc.

"I lost track of how many hours I put into the piece, it all becomes a blur.

"I like to stream horror movies or listen to music and just lose myself in the art I make.

"I have a bit of an obsession with detail and I tend to spend hours tweaking elements on an image people will probably never even notice.

"CALIBAN have been a pleasure to work with. After I had the pleasure of hearing the demos while working on this project it is an honour to have done the artwork for what will be an amazing album!"

CALIBAN's eighth studio album, "I Am Nemesis", entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 21.

"I Am Nemesis" was released in North America on February 28, 2012 via Century Media Records. The CD featured guest appearances by Marcus Bischoff (HEAVEN SHALL BURN) and Mitch Lucker (SUICIDE SILENCE).

"Wintersong", a brand new track from Kari Rueslåtten, founding member of the progressive doom metal band THE 3RD AND THE MORTAL, can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. The song is taken from Kari's fifth solo album, and first in eight years, "Time To Tell", which will be released on March 7 via Despotz Records. "The composing has been done by me sitting at the piano singing," commented Rueslåtten.

"No drum beats or co-composers this time!

"I wanted to go back to the core of songwriting. If the verse and chorus works just accompanied by the piano, it will work with other arrangements in studio too. "What really triggered me to start making music again were all the kind messages I got from fans around the world asking me when new music would surface.

"I am most humble and grateful to find that there are people out there who have followed my music since my early beginning, back in THE 3RD AND THE MORTAL days, and through all my solo albums." "Time To Tell" was recorded and produced at Øra Studio in Trondheim, Norway with Norwegian award-winning producer Jostein Ansnes. The 11-track, all-acoustic album features guest musicians Jostein Ansnes (guitar), Rune Arnesen (drums), Trygve Brøske (piano and pump organ) and Eirik Øien (upright bass). To whet the appetite of fans around the globe, Rueslåtten launched a music video for the album's first single "Why So Lonely". Only You Know Rueslåtten's natural talent, combined with classical training and roots in the Norwegian folk music tradition, has resulted in a voice that is difficult to describe. Her music has been compared with artists like Tori Amos, Kate Bush and Bjørk, maybe not necessarily because the music sounds very similar, but because of each artists' distinctive vocal delivery.

Due to problems with the mastering and the need for more time to make a promotional video, the release date of "Shine", the debut solo album from former NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon, has been pushed back a month.

"Shine", which was co-produced by Anette Olzon and Johan Kronlund, is a collaboration with some of the most successful teams in rock and pop in Scandinavia: Stefan Örn (songwriter and producer of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest-winning track "Running Scared") and Johan Glössner. The album was mixed by Kronlund, Nicklas Flykt and Ronny Lahti (known for his work with Loreen and Roxette).

"I am so thrilled to finally release my first solo album," says Olzon. "I've been working on it for a long time by now...

"The album is very personal with songs I have started writing already in 2009 but also very recent songs.

"The overall message of the album is that life can be really dark and filled with hardship and sadness, but you can always choose to see some light coming through, to make you stronger and full of life — making you SHINE… no matter what."

Regarding the CD's musical direction, Anette said: "In the end, it is a rock album. Well, a pop rock album, maybe, or would you call it pop metal?"

Olzon in 2011 released two demo tracks that she recorded in 2009 for what was supposed to become her debut solo album. She said at the time, "The songs are not mixed or produced, just recorded in the moment, and therefore are very rough songs. But I still want you to hear them since I am proud of them and I think they show another part of me than you hear in NIGHTWISH." She added, "The first song is called 'Floating' and I call it the 'circus' song. It gives me a happy feeling and the vibe in it is happy and joyful. The second song ['Invincible'] is a song I wrote for my son and therefore it's very special to me."

Olzon announced in April 2011 that she decided to push back the tentative release date of her debut solo album to after NIGHTWISH had completed touring in support of its then-yet-to-be-released new studio album, "Imaginarium".

Olzon worked on material for her solo CD in 2009 with Swedish producers Stefan Örn and Johan Glössner. The album was slated to be co-produced by Swedish producer/songwriter Anders Bagge, who has previously worked with MADONNA, CELINE DION, JANET JACKSON and JESSICA SIMPSON, among others. He was also one of judges on the Swedish TV talent competition "Idol" and a producer of the TV series "Made in Sweden".

Olzon in 2009 hired a personal manager — the Swedish management company Hagenburg Management, which also represents EUROPE and THE CARDIGANS.

Olzon was fired from NIGHTWISH in September 2012 in the middle of the band's North American tour. She has since been replaced by former AFTER FOREVER and current REVAMP singer Floor Jansen.

METALLICA played its classic song "One" with Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang earlier tonight (Sunday, January 26) at the 56th annual Grammy Awards. Video footage of the performance can be seen below.

During the rehearsals for tonight's show, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich spoke to Artisan News about playing with Lang Lang and how it feels to be back in primetime at the awards.

"It's been 22 years, I do believe [since we last performed at the Grammys], so we're excited to be back," he said. "That's a long time to be away from anything, so we've got a lot of energy stored up that we're ready to unleash.

"Obviously, the Grammys are mostly about mashups, and so we're doing a very cool one with our new best friend, which is the worldwide renowned pianist Lang Lang."

Speaking about the collaboration with Lang Lang, Ulrich said: "Well, I would like to think that on a broader scale that music is music. We have a tendency in METALLICA to not look much beyond that in terms of definitions. But, obviously, he's a very talented musician, he's a very dynamic musician, he projects himself very well. I mean, when he plays, he's really full of energy and he's got a lot of kind of showmanship and kind of energy that protrudes off the stage and right into people's hearts and souls. So I would like to think that it's a good collaboration."

METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett told Rolling Stone that the band's performance at the Grammy Awards would be "completely insane." He explained, "Lang Lang has interjected himself into the song in a way I don't think anyone else has ever done in the course of our career. He's going to be playing major parts of the song. He's going to be playing through the melody."

Hammett told The Pulse Of Radio that the song's arrangement highlighted Lang Lang's playing without changing the song. "We're not lightening up the song just for him," he said. "We're still hanging onto all the heavy parts and it's gonna be amazing. He's just an amazing pianist, and at one point he's going to be, like, weaving in and out of my guitar solo and playing parts of my guitar solo with me. That's gonna be interesting. I've never, ever experienced that ever before with anyone we've ever played with."

"One" was the first single released from METALLICA's 1988 album "…And Justice For All", becoming the first song from the band to gain substantial commercial radio airplay. It was also the basis for the first music video the group ever did.

Hammett told Rolling Stone that METALLICA has recorded a demo of "One" with Lang Lang's contributions on it.

BLACK SABBATH was honored with a Grammy in the "Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance" category in the pre-telecast ceremony at the 56th annual Grammy Awards, which is being held tonight (Sunday, January 26) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. BLACK SABBATH was nominated for the track "God Is Dead?", from the band's 2013 comeback album "13".

The SABBATH members did not personally accept the award at the pre-telecast ceremony because they were busy preparing to be one of the presenters during the main show. Pop singer Cyndi Lauper, who co-hosted the pre-telecast, said that she spoke with them prior to the event and that they were grateful for the honor. "I know that Ozzy is not here and I saw them last night," she said. "They asked me to accept this award for them. It's awesome. And I'm sure he thanks the Academy. They had to be next door to do something. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everybody."

Osbourne came up with the title for "God Is Dead?", but bassist Geezer Butler wanted to call it something else. Ozzy told Shortlist, "I was in a doctor's office and there was a magazine in there with that line on the cover. I thought, 'Yeah — people flew planes into the World Trade Center because of God, there's all this fucking shit going on in the world in the name of God.'" Geezer added, "Ozzy gave me that line, and I wrote the lyrics. I wanted to call the song 'American Jihad'." Ozzy continued, "Fuck that. I'm the guy at the front singing it; I would have had a fucking army after me . . . In the early days [of BLACK SABBATH], there was a lot of backlash from religious groups . . . I was sent letters written in blood. In my house I must have 25 fucking Bibles, each with a marked-up passage that [the sender] wanted me to read."

Butler told The Pulse Of Radio what the song was about. "It's about this guy that sets out to prove that God is still alive, and he has this voice in his head saying that God's dead, and he can't get rid of the voice telling him, so he goes out and kills everybody," he said.

"13" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart in June 2013, the first SABBATH album to ever top the U.S. chart.

The disc features Ozzy, Butler and guitarist Tony Iommi playing together for the first time in 35 years. Their last effort together was 1978's "Never Say Die!"

BLACK SABBATH's "God Is Dead?" also picked up a nomination in the "Best Rock Song" category. In addition, the band's comeback CD, "13", earned a nod for "Best Rock Album", alongside LED ZEPPELIN's "Celebration Day" and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's "…Like Clockwork", among others.

METALLICA's "Through The Never" received a nomination for "Best Recording Package" and ALICE IN CHAINS' "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here" was up for the "Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical" award.

Nominations for the 56th annual Grammy Awards were announced on December 6, 2013 by The Recording Academy and reflected an eclectic mix of the best and brightest in music over the past year, as determined by the voting members of The Academy. For the sixth year, nominations for the annual Grammy Awards were announced on primetime television as part of "The Grammy Nominations Concert Live! — Countdown To Music's Biggest Night", a one-hour CBS entertainment special broadcast live from Nokia Theatre L.A. Live.

"This year's nominations reflect the talented community of music makers who represent some of the highest levels of excellence and artistry of the year in their respective fields," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy, in a statement.

This year's Grammy Awards process registered more than 22,000 submissions over a 12-month eligibility period (October 1, 2012 - September 30, 2013). Grammy ballots for the final round of voting were mailed on December 11 to the voting members of The Recording Academy. They were due back to the accounting firm of Deloitte by January 8, when they were tabulated and the results kept secret until the 56th Grammy telecast.

The 56th annual Grammy Awards are produced by AEG Ehrlich Ventures for The Recording Academy. Ken Ehrlich is executive producer, and Louis J. Horvitz is director.

The Grammy Awards will air live on CBS tonight (Sunday, January 26) at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Atlantic Records has announced the release of "(Acoustic Sessions)", the forthcoming EP from SMITH & MYERS, better known to rock fans everywhere as Brent Smith and Zach Myers of SHINEDOWN. The EP arrives on the iTunes Store and at all leading digital retailers on January 28.

"(Acoustic Sessions)" sees Smith and Myers tackling a half dozen classic songs by such legendary artists as THE CLASH, METALLICA, Otis Redding, Kenny Wayne Shepard — who makes a surprise cameo on the recording of his own "Blue On Black" — BLACK CROWES and SOUL ASYLUM, all selected by SHINEDOWN fans as the tracks they'd most like the band to cover. The stripped-down recording sessions were filmed in their entirety by SHINEDOWN's longtime collaborator, filmmaker Darren Doane, resulting in intimate companion videos for each of the EP's six tracks. The fourth song/video from the collection to be unveiled, METALLICA's "Nothing Else Matters", can be seen below. Videos for each of the EP's remaining tracks will premiere there daily leading up to the collection's January 28 release day.

"This is for the fans," says Smith. "They picked the songs and we recorded them — it's as simple as that. And I must say that our audience has great taste."

According to The Pulse Of Radio, SHINEDOWN initially planned to release an album of acoustic cover songs this year, but the original 10-song set turned into a six-track EP somewhere along the way. Smith told The Pulse Of Radio that the band's idea of posting videos on YouTube of them recording all 10 songs was what caused the problem. "Some of the artists were cool with letting us put them up, like basically on YouTube, and like show the video of the song being recorded," he said. "Some of the artists were cool with the video and some of the artists weren't cool with the video, and that's totally their decision. So the first six were approved and good to go and you could show the video with it and everything else, so those are the first six that we're gonna release."

The four songs left off the EP — which include BON JOVI's "Wanted Dead Or Alive" and ADELE's "Someone Like You" — will eventually surface without videos on iTunes.

In other news, January 22 will see the eagerly anticipated broadcast television premiere of SHINEDOWN's installment of "The Live Room" on Palladia. Filmed at the famed Henson Studios in Los Angeles, the exclusive set features electrifying versions of SHINEDOWN favorites like "Bully" and "I'll Follow You" — both featured on the band's chart-topping 2012 smash, "Amaryllis" — alongside a surprising and powerful cover of Carole King's "I Feel The Earth Move".

Brian Tichy and Joe Sutton, the creators of "Bonzo Bash" (the celebration show for LED ZEPPELIN's John Bonham), in conjunction with Randy Rhoads' brother Kelle Rhoads; the Rhoads family; "Bonzo Bash" guitarist/former student of Randy's, Brent Woods; as well as one of Rhoads' dearest friends, rock bass legend Rudy Sarzo, came together to put on the ultimate tribute celebration in honor of one of the the most influential and brightest stars the world of rock guitar has ever seen; Randy Rhoads, the legendary guitarist who revived Ozzy Osbourne's career with two iconic records. Sadly, Randy's future was cut short on March 19, 1982 when he died in a plane crash. He was only 25 years old. His songwriting, solos, technique and tone on the albums "Blizzard Of Ozz" and "Diary Of A Madman" permanently placed him at the top of rock's most influential guitarists polls. The idea to give Randy a night of honor came together within the hundreds of hours of "Bonzo Bash" preparation and phone conversations between Brian Tichy and Joe Sutton. The two would often talk about other musicians that had made a huge impact on them growing up. The name that would come up and excite them the most was always Randy Rhoads.

Sometime in 2013, Tichy threw this idea at Brent Woods, a student of Rhoads' from the pre-Ozzy era, when Randy was not only the most popular local guitarist at the time, but an extremely popular teacher at Musonia, his mother Delores Rhoads' (Dee) music school. Brent has stayed very close with the Rhoads family as well as producing Kelle's classical music. Brent ran this idea by Kelle Rhoads, who had already been to a "Bonzo Bash". Kelle expressed interest in this and soon after, Woods and Tichy met with Kelle at Musonia. After a tour of the school and hours of hanging, Kelle gave the show his blessing and preparation began. Tichy contacted legendary bassist Rudy Sarzo; his friend and bandmate from the recent Geoff Tate QUEENSRŸCHE tour they did together. Sarzo, bassist for QUIET RIOT, OZZY OSBOURNE and WHITESNAKE, also gave his blessing and agreed to play bass alongside Tichy, making up the night's rhythm section!

Sarzo, one of the few people that had so much history alongside Rhoads and watched this amazing talent take over the world of rock guitar firsthand, said, "'Randy Rhoads Remembered' is a unique celebration of his compositions and trail blazing guitar techniques.

"Randy Rhoads Remembered" included an array of the world's best guitarists as well as special guests all coming together to honor the man that we all wish was still here writing and performing.

Every song from "Blizzard Of Ozz" and "Diary Of A Madman" was performed; each song by a different guitarist. Some guitarists tie into Randy's history, others are icons that were themselves hugely influenced by Randy Rhoads.

Tichy, ex-drummer for WHITESNAKE, FOREIGNER, BILLY IDOL and OZZY OSBOURNE, as well as guitarist for S.U.N., said: "Randy's playing, and the music on those two Ozzy records were huge to me!

"I am a drummer but I also started putting a lot of time into guitar at the same time Randy came out.

"I heard Ozzy being interviewed on the radio when 'Blizzard Of Ozz' was released. They played 'I Don't Know' and when the guitar kicked in, I was floored and I was an instant fan!

"I spent countless hours trying to learn Randy's songs, riffs and solos while I was also just a beginner on guitar. I tried to learn Randy's live solo note for note! I had Randy's posters on my basement walls! I still have those posters framed in my home studio right now! Brent and I even shared a bottle of Randy Rhoads wine when it first came out!

"I went on to play with the amazing Zakk Wylde in PRIDE & GLORY and then had the honor to play with Ozzy himself on the 2000 Ozzfest tour with another student of Randy Rhoads', Joe Holmes, an awesome guitarist in his own right. Not to mention that just this year, while playing guitar with my band S.U.N. in Las Vegas, Rhoads' replacement in the Osbourne band, Jake E. Lee, came up on stage and jammed with us!

"But I think this next story may take the cake...

"In 2000, after auditioning for Ozzy in Burbank, California, I left and headed to a gig. I was going a tad too fast on Hollywood Way and got pulled over. The officer saw my drums and asked what I was doing. I told him, 'I just auditioned for Ozzy Osbourne and I am running late for a gig.' The officer replied, 'BLACK SABBATH was the first concert I ever saw, and I pulled Randy Rhoads over on this same street. If you get the Ozzy gig, I want you to send me a T-shirt. Now get out of here and slow down!' So, yes, I sent him the T-shirt! Haha!"

"Broken Crown Halo" will be released in North America on April 1 (one day earlier internationally) via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded Italy by producer Jay Baumgardner (P.O.D., SEVENDUST, EVANESCENCE, PAPA ROACH) and engineer Kyle Hoffmann (P.O.D., BUSH, ZEBRAHEAD). The effort was mastered by Howie Weinberg, whose credits include RAMMSTEIN, SOUNDGARDEN, NIRVANA, DEFTONES and SHERYL CROW.

"Broken Crown Halo" is LACUNA COIL's seventh studio effort, and the highly-anticipated follow-up to "Dark Adrenaline", which was released in January 2012 and saw the band tour with acts including MEGADETH, MOTÖRHEAD, VOLBEAT and SEVENDUST after debuting at No. 15 on The Billboard 200 album chart.

Ottawa, Canada based melodic death/black metallers ENDEMISE have released a new lyric video (see below) for the track'Of Death And Forgotten Lore', from their sophomore release Far From the Light, released on November 4th, 3013 worldwide via Maple Metal Records.

Unconventionally sounding experimental/progressive trio THE MOTH GATHERER is offering a free download of their unreleased song. The download in question is the band's track from A Bright Celestial Light album sessions, which has not seen the light of day yet - neither on CD nor LP. Recently, the band announced a new lineup member, Svante Karlsson (leftmost in the picture below), who will take care of drums and guitars.

The band's songs are about hate, pain, violence, death and religion. The tracks will take you through a journey of war, mental illnesses, fights, punishments and pure hate! The band takes pride in recording their music with an “old school” touch and with a raw and direct sound. Saxonia/Germany's ALPHA TIGER start the new year with the release of the 12“ vinyl maxi, titled 'Lady Liberty', on February 28th via vinyl specialist High Roller Records (under exclusive license from Century Media).
The release will be strictly limited to just 500 copies in two different colors and contains three songs. It will be supported by a new video, available two weeks prior to the record release.
Peter Langforth, mastermind of Alpha Tiger, comments on the concept of the EP: "The world is facing dramatic changes. More and more, governments and the people are talking different languages; this rift is being felt in all layers of society. In times where financial powers pull the strings and mass media are used to manipulate, deceive and distract from the real problems, it's getting more and more important that the people express their own interests on the streets.

'Lady Liberty' is our expressive statement against a Big Brother society. The song is full of energy and straight to the point. What remains are our pure emotions and aggressions against this unjust society. The fitting sound was created in the Area 51 studio by Tommy Newton, who gave the song a very powerful mix. The B-Side contains the song 'Men or Machines', originally published on our first album, and completely re-arranged and extended by two minutes. 'Child In The Haze' completes the 12“ and is a rerecording from our SATIN BLACK days, originally written in 2008.“

Melodic Revolution Records has announced the signing of German prog metal act THOUGHTS FACTORY for their debut release, entitled Lost.

Thoughts Factory are a band influenced by different styles and genres. The five musicians are creating an exciting mixture of metallic sounds in the vein of SYMPHONY X and DREAM THEATER, with gloomy parts like OPETH and incorporating progressive rock elements of TRANSATLANTIC, NEAL MORSE and AYREON all the while keeping it fresh on their debut album Lost.

But Lost is much more than a combination of different influences. The album shows Thoughts Factory as a band with a sophisticated concept that succeeds in expressing their ideas through the music as well as the lyrics. Lost is a concept album that takes the audience on a personal journey through the mental state of one who is left behind.
