A HERO A FAKE, MY HERO IS ME Members Launch New Band BORNSTELLARBORNSTELLAR is a new metal band featuring members of A HERO A FAKE (Victory Records) and MY HERO IS ME (Tragic Hero Records). Based out of North Carolina, the band has spent the end of 2013 recording their debut EP with producers Drew Fulk and Kyle Odell at Think Sound Studio in Greensboro, NC.
“The idea for Bornstellar started after our last tour back in May. Justin (Brown), Patrick (Jeffers), and I had been working on new music but we weren’t exactly happy with how it was turning out. Then, on the first day in the studio, the idea was brought up of completely starting fresh as new band. Almost immediately knew we had to do it.
That was key. That creative freedom is what got us excited to be writing music again. No longer was it about what sub-genre it fit into, it was only about crafting the best songs. Being able to have this experience with my two closest friends is something I cherish and I couldn’t be more excited to show our work to the world.”
Joined by My Hero Is Me drummer Scott Shelton, the band has released an in-studio announcement video.

BLEEDING FIST To Release Compilation Death’s Old Stench In MarchMoribund Records has announced March 4th, 2014 as the release date for BLEEDING FIST’s new compilation, Death’s Old Stench. Subtitled The Deathcult Sessions, with Death’s Old Stench, the Slovenian chaos black metallers open up their crypt to reveal an arsenal of unreleased songs from 2011-2013.
At a dozen tracks strong, Death's Old Stench unveils a different side to Bleeding Fist, one less manic and chaotic and more classically grim and ghastly. Still characteristically Bleeding Fist, this special collection serves as a haunting precursor to their next Moribund album, of which seven songs were recently written - "the result that came out of a weekend drenched in alcoholic rites, a sick-to-the-bone old black/thrash metal monstrosity," according to a band statement.
Tracklisting and cover for Death's Old Stench are as follows:
‘Angel Negro (Intro)’
‘Holy Saint Of Death’
‘Brotherhood Of Chaos And Death’
‘Revelation Of Degenesis’
‘The Veiled Crowned Queen’
‘De La Muerte (Intermezzo)’
‘Azazel’
‘Death Almighty Death’
‘Blackened Illumination’
‘Tweens Of Darkness And Evil’
‘Cursed Blood’
‘Prelude To The Total Death 266 (Outro)’
Regarding Death's Old Stench, vocalist Hellscream had the following to say: "Death's Old Stench is Bleeding Fist's strangest, most obscure and most esoteric effort. It's really different from what we've done up till now, but in a way, it describes perfectly one of darkest times in our life as a band and as individuals. After the departure of (guitarists) Angelus and Occultus, we thought whether to release this album, because it was incomplete and in a partial demo form, so we decided in 2013 to finish this work and release it as raw and fucked-up as it was when we last left the studio. So, this is not really a new Bleeding Fist album, but a strange and alchemic occult statement to honor our master Satan."
In other Bleeding Fist news, the band welcomes new guitarist Jex, who replaces the aforementioned Angelus and Occultus, and who has contributed to those aforementioned seven songs slated for the band's next Moribund full-length. A statement from the band reads: "A long span of silence is behind us. But as you know, the sickest intents grow in silence and solitude."
The new Bleeding Fist lineup is thus:
Hellscream - vocals
Infernal K. - bass guitar
Jex - guitar
Krieg – drums

SILVERTUNG Unleash Devil's In The Details Album; 'Coming Alive' Single StreamingBaltimore, MD-based hard rockers SILVERTUNG have released their new album, Devil's In The Details. Produced/engineered by Steven Wright (who has worked with everyone from SLIPKNOT to AVRIL LAVIGNE), the just-released album is chock full of no nonsense, hard-hitting hard rock/heavy metal, as evidenced by the lead-off single, 'Coming Alive' (streaming below), as well as such awesome cuts as 'Justify' and 'Déjà Vu'.
As the group's singer/guitarist, Speed, explains, "This group of songs is definitely special. This CD is much more diverse, and I’d say it’s ‘deeper’."
Hailing from Maryland, Silvertung is comprised of Speed, lead guitarist ZZ, bassist Skoot, and drummer Danno, and have created a tremendous local buzz, on the strength of their live show, which has seen the quartet share the stage with countless national acts, including GODSMACK, DISTURBED, SHINEDOWN, SLIPKNOT, STAIND, PAPA ROACH, BUCKCHERRY, FILTER, DROWNING POOL, and P.O.D., among countless others.
And while it's their music and live performance that truly speaks for itself, the band also possesses quite an interesting moniker, as well.
"The name Silvertung was revived from an 80's porno movie, though the spelling was 'Silver Tongue'," recalls Speed. "We were practicing in my uncle's basement. And being guys, we had to check out these old porno tapes. Tapes! I think they were VHS tapes. [Laughs] But I really liked the name, just did not like the spelling. But then The Simpsons had an episode 'Silver Tongue,' and I thought, 'OK, this is a sign.' But I still did not like the spelling. So I thought, 'What about Tung instead of Tongue?' Heard something about the Korean Mafia, the Tungs. Thought that was very cool. The name Silvertung was born."
And as with all true hard rock bands, you can expect Silvertung to deliver the goods on the concert stage.
"We are absolutely passionate about live music," says ZZ. "It’s this exchange of energy from us to the crowd, then from the crowd right back to us. There is nothing else like it in the world. When the fans are singing our music back to us word for word, and their volume is louder than ours... wow. It doesn’t get any better than that."

W.E.T. To Release 'One Live – In Stockholm' CD/DVD In FebruaryFrontiers Records will release of W.E.T.'s 2CD/DVD "One Live - In Stockholm" on February 21 in Europe and February 24 in North America.
On January 17, 2013, W.E.T. played an exclusive show at the Debaser Club in Stockholm, Sweden to celebrate the release of their sophomore album, "Rise Up". The show was promoted almost exclusively through a viral web campaign, so that night the faithful and energized crowd's fever for the band, featuring Robert Säll (the "W" from WORK OF ART), Erik Mårtensson (the "E" from ECLIPSE) and Jeff Scott Soto (the "T" from TALISMAN) was incredibly high (despite the cold Swedish winter being in full force). Fans flew in from all over the world and the venue was packed to the rafters when the band hit the stage with their driving number "Walk Away".
W.E.T. showcased songs from the then forthcoming album "Rise Up" as well as from the critically acclaimed self-titled 2009 debut album. A truly exquisite performance, where the band played many fan favorites including two TALISMAN songs, as well as one song each from ECLIPSE and WORK OF ART. The ECLIPSE song was "Bleed & Scream" which was sung by Erik Mårtensson and the WORK OF ART song was "The Great Fall" where the band were joined by Lars Säfsund, lead singer of WORK OF ART.
Jeff Scott Soto recalls: "For us, it was a magical night as much as a nervous one... We all have the experience of performing live to multitudes of people, the wisdom on how to take the show from A-Z but none of these items together as a new band. With that, you're witnessing something I know in 10-20 years time, we will all reflect upon as something special captured on film and recording as a moment in time we'll never forget."
The show was filmed and recorded for a live CD/DV release, which also includes two unreleased bonus tracks, studio cuts taken from the "Rise Up" sessions.
The resulting album "One Live - In Stockholm" captures a stunning performance and celebrates the birth of W.E.T. as a kick-ass live unit.

NAPALM DEATH Guitarist MITCH HARRIS' MENACE To Release Debut Album In MarchSeason Of Mist has announced the signing of MENACE, the brainchild of NAPALM DEATH axeman Mitch Harris.
MENACE's debut album, "Impact Velocity", will hit the stores on March 14 in Europe or March 18 in North America. The CD features contributions from Derek Roddy (drums), Fred Leclercq (bass), Nicola Manzan (violin, cello, viola), Shane Embury (bass), and Russ Russell (producer and navigator of paradoxology).
MENACE is a project for those who dare to be challenged. It is a journey across genres; neither claiming nor conforming to any particular known style, and a result of all musical history and culture.
Mitch comments: "The band is called MENACE, but to me, it is more than just a band or a solo project. It is the result of my life's work. It's a concept that has been in production for some time with most of the songs and intense work done in the last two years.
"The initial idea for MENACE began with a plan to work with Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY) and drummer Brann Dailor (MASTODON). Although Brann recorded two songs initially, his responsibilities with MASTODON didn't allow time for such an intricate collaboration. In fact, we all became incredibly busy and as a result, new directives evolved, and to achieve my goal for MENACE I needed to see the album through myself.
"To me, MENACE is the old meeting the new; heavy and melodic, descriptive and adventurous, epic and futuristic, carnal and primitive, and so on. MENACE brings unrealized dreams closer to fruition. It is about overcoming loss and hardship, and a combination of many interests, including spiritual philosophy, psychology, science, physics, theatrics, the supernatural, the paranormal, film, poetry, photography, art, sculpture and video; the things I've focused all my energy on over the last twenty years. It's an organic meets technological approach to exploration and self discovery through a direction I term audio-installationism (A.I.)."
Harris concludes, "Those familiar with my previous work will be in for a surprise and should expect the unexpected, but I'm a firm believer that even the most improbable dreams should be explored. MENACE is a statement in itself, a way of saying that there is always a way forward, no matter how difficult it seems. If you are still alive, then there is still something to achieve." 1

DOWN Completes Work On New EPDOWN has completed work on its new EP for an early 2014 release. The CD was recorded at singer Philip Anselmo's New Orleans studio, Nodferatu's Lair and is the second in a series of EPs to be released over the next few years, each touching on a different aspect of the band's sound.
Speaking about the band's new material, DOWN guitarist Pepper Keenan told the "Metal Hammer" radio show: "It's kind of slight continuation of the first EP, but it's a little bit more… It's hard to say, man… It's more… I wouldn't say 'aggressive,' but it's definitely got some freaky guitar stuff on it. And it's definitely got a pretty good groove factor. And we spent a lot of time trying to make all the songs [fit together stylistically]. We had several songs that didn't quite match it, so we kind of [set them aside] and we're gonna move them to another EP. But it's got a super-heavy vibe to it, man. I mean, I'm really excited about it. Everybody in the band is excited about it."
He continued: "We wrote it kind of like we did the 'NOLA' record. Each one of us had some riffs and we got in a room and we just hashed it out like the old days — just going off each person's experiences and ideas. Everybody's ideas were valid, and it really ended up being well rounded and slamming. It was [a] very creative [process], let's put it that way. Actually, it was surprising some of us how much we really still got it."
Pepper also spoke about the cover theme for the next DOWN EP and how it will be connected to last year's "Down IV Part I - The Purple EP".
"When the second [EP] comes out, you'll see it as being an extension of the last cover," Pepper said. "So number 2 is gonna connect sideways to number 1, and you'll start to see a morphing kind of process. There's some kind of liquid light kind of thing that's kind of melding across as you go… I hate to quote the overall color, but I believe it's something like orange. I haven't looked at it in a while. It might not be orange yet, but it's heading in that direction."
Released in September 2012, "Down IV Part I - The Purple EP" sold 12,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 35 on The Billboard 200 chart.
Guitarist Kirk Windstein recently left DOWN and was replaced by Bobby Landgraf, the band's former guitar tech who was previously in GAHDZILLA MOTOR COMPANY, a 1990s outfit also featuring Jason McMaster (DANGEROUS TOYS, WATCHTOWER), and HONKY.
"I couldn't feel more blessed," Landgraf, 48, said in an interview. "Phil could've gotten anyone to play guitar, but I've been jamming with them during soundchecks, so they know we can play together."
"It's really a dream come true," added Landgraf. "It's what you're working for all those years." 3

EARTH CRISIS: 'Salvation Of Innocents' Album Details RevealedCandlelight Records has set a March 3 European and March 4 North American release date for "Salvation Of Innocents", the label debut from hardcore/metal pioneers EARTH CRISIS. Mixed by Chris "Zeuss" Harris (AGNOSTIC FRONT, TERROR, HATEBREED), the album and its lead single, "The Morbid Glare", will be available for preorder via iTunes and other digital platforms beginning January 20/21.
"Salvation Of Innocents" features twelve new tracks from the Syracuse-formed band. Production of the bold concept album offered the respected five-piece an extraordinary recording experience. Guitarist Scott Crouse shares: "The process for this album was new for us. We did most of it ourselves. The absence of pressure having to get things done by a certain time each day really gave us the freedom to try new ideas and critically listen to the songs. From the music, to the lyrical concept, to the comic book that brings the lyrics to life, we think we've created something pretty unique."
The comic book Crouse mentions is the pairing of EARTH CRISIS with Black Mask Studios' Liberator comic. The hard-edged vigilante series will release its fifth edition simultaneously with the release of Salvation. The Matt Miner-created comic brings its main character and the Salvation Of Innocents'' vivisection concept together in a commanding graphic landscape. Black Mask Studios co-founder Matt Pizzolo says, "It is crazy to me that it took twenty years for comics to produce a set of animal-minded vigilantes strong enough to roll with EARTH CRISIS. It is probably the most perfectly aligned superhero team-up ever."
"Salvation Of Innocents" and Liberator will share original cover art from Chicago-based illustrator/painter Menton3. The comic will feature additional works by illustrators Rod Reis, Javier Aranda and Joaquin Pereyra. Liberator creator Matt Miner says, "Working with EARTH CRISIS on the comic book side of 'Salvation Of Innocents' has been a dream project for me. Our styles, ethics, and ideologies are a fitting match and I'm super excited for folks to read the story."
Fans pre-ordering "Salvation Of Innocents" via iTunes will receive "The Morbid Glare" as an immediate download as part of the digital outlet's Instant Grab Track promotion. Preordering will begin 24-hours prior to a special Lambgoat.com world premiere of the album track "De-Desensitize"", set for January 22.
Talking candidly about the album's single, Crouse says, "'The Morbid Glare' is a song that really challenged most of the band members mainly since it's the fastest tempo we've ever written at. Ian [Edwards, bassist] wrote the majority of the song, and we all had a common goal of trying new things on this record. This is certainly new territory for us. Working at this speed was uncomfortable at times," he says, "but we think the song really came out great in the end."
No hardcore or metal fan can be unaware of EARTH CRISIS or the contributions the band has made to heavy music since their founding in 1989. Regardless of passing trends, the band has maintained their vision, dedication to their craft (and causes), and most importantly respected their fans. Media giants CNN, CBS and MTV have applauded the straightedge, vegan band that to date has released seven full-length albums, two EPs, and two live albums, their most recent, 2011's "Neutralize The Threat" (Century Media).
EARTH CRISIS will kick off 2014 with a performance at the Tough Love Festival in Seattle. Set for February 15, the third annual festival will take place atStudio 7 located at 110 S. Horton Street.
"Salvation Of Innocents" track listing:
01. De-Desensitize
02. Out Of The Cages
03. Shiver
04. The Morbid Glare
05. Razors Through Flesh
06. Depraved Indifference
07. No Reason
08. The Pallid Surgeon
09. Devoted to Death
10. Into Nothingness
11. Tentacles of The Altering Eye
12. Final Breath
EARTH CRISIS is vocalist Karl Buechner, guitarists Scott Crouse and Erick Edwards, bassist Ian Edwards, and drummer Dennis Merrick.
Black Mask Studios was launched in spring 2013 by Matt Pizzolo (Occupy Comics) with partners Steve Niles (30 Days Of Night) and Brett Gurewitz (BAD RELIGION).

OZZY OSBOURNE Thought He Would Lose His Family During Drug RelapseAccording to The Pulse Of Radio, Ozzy Osbourne has opened up in a new interview with the U.K.'s NME about his relapse into drug and alcohol abuse last year as well as his temporary separation from wife and manager Sharon Osbourne. Ozzy revealed last April that he had been abusing drugs and alcohol for 18 months, which led Sharon to move out of their home until he took steps to get sober again. He eventually did and the couple reconciled.
The BLACK SABBATH frontman revealed that when Sharon found out he was using drugs again, "She was very pissed off. I thought I was gonna lose my family at one point . . . She just said, 'Look, I've got my own thing going on, and I can't deal with you any more. Get the fuck out. Sort yourself out, then we'll talk.' I don't blame her in the slightest."
Asked what triggered his relapse, Ozzy said, "For no reason at all, you'll suddenly think, 'I fancy a drink,' and your head will say, 'Let yourself have one.' Next thing you know you're scraping yourself off the garage floor three days later . . . it's a disease of the mind and body, and you can't control it."
Ozzy was using drugs and alcohol during the recording sessions for BLACK SABBATH's reunion album, "13," although bandmates Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler revealed a few days ago that they were shocked at the time to find out from Sharon that Ozzy had fallen off the wagon.
"13" was the first SABBATH album since 1978 to feature Ozzy, Iommi and Butler recording together. The album came out in June and went No. 1 in several countries, including the U.S. where it became the group's first-ever chart-topper. 4

LOSTPROPHETS Singer IAN WATKINS' Child Sex Case: Sentencing Remarks Posted OnlineLOSTPROPHETS singer Ian Watkins was sentenced to 29 years in prison after pleading guilty to 13 sexual offense charges, including the attempted rape of an 11-month-old baby. According to BBC News, the 36-year-old Watkins was sentenced on Wednesday (December 18) after pleading guilty last month at Cardiff Crown Court in Wales, where Watkins is from. His two co-defendants, women in their 20s who were the mothers of children he abused, were handed prison terms of 14 and 17 years.
Watkins must serve at least two-thirds of his jail time before being eligible for parole, followed by another six years of probation.
The judge in the case said it broke "new ground" and "plunged into new depths of depravity."
He added that Watkins showed a "complete lack of remorse" and that what the women did in handing over their children to Watkins was "both sickening and incomprehensible."
Watkins' defense attorney said that her client "belatedly realized the gravity of what happened" and was "deeply, deeply sorry." The singer has maintained that he did not remember many of the incidents due to drug abuse.
You can read the sentencing remarks as a PDF file at this location.
Watkins admitted to the attempted rape and sexual assault of a child under 13 but pleaded not guilty to rape.
He also pleaded guilty to conspiring to rape a child, three counts of sexual assault involving children, seven involving taking, making or possessing indecent images of children and one of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a sex act on an animal.
According to The Pulse Of Radio, Detective Chief Inspector Peter Doyle, the senior officer on the case, revealed that new information has led to investigations of Watkins' activities now being launched in Germany and the United States.
Watkins was arrested last December on the charges. LOSTPROPHETS announced they were splitting in October and denounced their former singer in recent statements. 2

TOOL's JUSTIN CHANCELLOR Remembers Christmas At HomeTOOL may not be leaving a new record under the tree for fans this holiday season, but that doesn't mean that the band itself won't enjoy the break. The Pulse Of Radio asked bassist Justin Chancellor what Christmas was like around his family's home back when he was younger. "Pretty much a family affair," he said. "We'd always be together as a family and just have too much food and too much port. [laughs] Just kind of very traditional. My mother was sort of mildly religious, but the rest of us, you know, we didn't really have it forced on us. It was more of just a family time to be together that was like designated time that we would all go home." TOOL is reportedly working on its new album, with singer Maynard James Keenan recently telling Rolling Stone that it's been delayed because his bandmates take so long to assemble the music.
TOOL's last album, "10,000 Days", came out in 2006. The band has toured a few times since then.
Keenan has kept himself busy with his Arizona wine-making business and his band PUSCIFER, along with doing some live work and a little new music with A PERFECT CIRCLE.

Video: TODD LA TORRE-Fronted Version Of QUEENSRŸCHE Performs In RenoFan-filmed video footage of the Todd La Torre-fronted version of QUEENSRŸCHE performing on December 13 at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nevada can be seen below.
The Todd La Torre-fronted version of QUEENSRŸCHE in September filmed a "mini movie," with the tracks "Spore", "Midnight Lullaby", "A World Without" and "X2" providing the score to a 10-plus minute story, dubbed "Queensrÿche: Ad Lucem". The film was created by Veva Entertainment Co. with director Daniel Andres Gomez Bagby and producer Marco De Molina and was filmed on location at Central City Stages in Los Angeles.
Commented Todd: "We decided to take a different approach with this video, which is comprised of four pieces of music from our latest self-titled release, 'Queensrÿche'. It's a conceptual mini-movie music video that invites the audience to scratch beneath the surface a bit, rather than the usual 'chewed food' that so many are used to being fed. We really wanted to deviate from a performance type of video so the music and story-line could be the main focus." He added: "The overall theme of the song 'Spore' is one that deals with personal demons, relationship struggles, career pressures, personal/professional morals and ethical dilemmas. These are issues we all face on some level and the video touches upon them all.
"'Midnight Lullaby'/'A World Without' deals with the loss of a mother during childbirth, leaving a father as a single parent and struggling to move forward through the turmoil.
"'X2', though it opens up our album, provides for a nice outro to it all. The end result is a roller coaster of emotion in an effort to find a healthy resolve.
"Given our history, we feel that this multifaceted conceptual video, along with a great cast of actors to suit, will really resonate with our fans."
QUEENSRŸCHE's new, self-titled album sold around 13,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 23 on The Billboard 200 chart. The record arrived in stores on June 25 via Century Media Records.
"Queensrÿche" marks the debut release from the lineup comprised of Todd La Torre (vocals; ex-CRIMSON GLORY), Michael Wilton (guitar), Parker Lundgren (guitar), Eddie Jackson (bass) and Scott Rockenfield (drums). The drums for the album were recorded at London Bridge Studios in Seattle, Washington with producer James "Jimbo" Barton — the man who engineered and mixed the band's classic 1988 LP, "Operation: Mindcrime", and its 1990 follow-up, "Empire", and co-produced 1994's "Promised Land". The rest of the music and vocals were laid down at several different facilities on the West Coast. The cover artwork was created by Craig Howell, who has previously worked on designs for "Star Wars", SLIPKNOT and "American Idol", to name a few. 1

"But once in a while it's such an adrenaline rush. VINCE NEIL Brings Two Little Girls Up On Stage For 'Girls Girls Girls' Performance (Video)Fan-filmed video footage of MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil's December 13 performance at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nevada can be seen below.
In a December 2012 interview with MLive.com, Neil spoke about what keeps him inspired to play casinos around the country with his solo band when he is not busy performing in arenas around the world with the CRÜE. "I do it because I'm having fun," he said. "I love the arenas but it's fun to be onstage in smaller venues with these guys. You don't have to put on a big show when the music does the talking."
Neil, who penned "Tattoos & Tequila: To Hell and Back with One of Rock's Most Notorious Frontmen", a 2010 biography that captured the ups and downs of his long, wild ride, claims to have come out a better person after after his countless battles with the law and a number of legal and personal setbacks.
"I've learned from the mistakes I've made," Neil said, "and I know how to do things better next time. Through it all, you have to believe in your music. When times get bad, you can't give up. You can't be too proud. Things will get better, absolutely."
Neil's live backing band continues to consist of bassist Dana Strum and Jeff Blando (both of SLAUGHTER) and drummer Zoltan Chaney.
Neil's latest solo album, "Tattoos & Tequila", sold 7,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 57 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was issued in Europe on June 4, 2010 via Frontiers Records and was made available in the U.S. on June 22, 2010 through Eleven Seven Music.
Neil recorded "Tattoos & Tequila" in the winter of 2009 with Strum, Blando and Chaney. The album includes two new songs — "Tattoos and Tequila" and "Another Bad Day", both produced by Marti Frederiksen (AEROSMITH, OZZY OSBOURNE, DEF LEPPARD) — plus a selection of classic cuts from some of the rock giants that have influenced Vince Neil throughout his musical career. The cover songs were produced by Vince and Jack Blades (DAMN YANKEES, NIGHT RANGER).

Drummer MARCO MINNEMANN To Guest On AMADEUS AWAD AlbumLebanese guitarist and composer Amadeus Awad has already worked with some of the greatest musicians from the world of prog in the past, including Gavin Harrison of PORCUPINE TREE fame, Russell Allen (SYMPHONY X), Amanda Somerville, Mark Boals (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) and Kevin Moore (DREAM THEATER), to mention but a few. From everything mentioned, the comparison with Arjen Lucassen is justified and well deserved.
Awad has two studio albums under his belt, 2011's "Ghost Stories" and 2012's "The Equinox". Besides, as the annoucement of what is to be his third album "Schizanimus", he already recorded three songs for an EP of the same name, featuring Elia I. Monsef on vocals, Dean Veall on bass, Danny Bou-Maroun on keyboards and above-mentioned Gavin Harrison on drums. He has recently completed work on the upcoming album, adding more songs. The new songs feature Marco Minnemann on drums.
"The new songs being a bit on our heavy side, [so] it required some intense drumming from one of the most interesting drummers on the international music scene," says Awad. "Our man for the job had to be the amazing Marco Minnemann who brought in some sick grooves to our already sick rollercoaster of prog."
Asked about working with Awad, Minnemann said: "The music is great and I had a lot of fun drumming to it.
"I want to thank Amadeus for being such an appreciative musical mind. I'll be happy to play for him anytime."

CALIBAN: 'King' Lyric Video ReleasedThe official lyric video for the song "King" from Germany's CALIBAN can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's new album, "Ghost Empire", which will be released on the following dates via Century Media Records:
* Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand: January 24 * Rest of Europe: January 27 * U.S., Canada: February 4
The CD was produced by by guitarist Marc Görtz in cooperation with Benny Richter.
Said Görtz of the the "Ghost Empire" art, which was created by U.K. artist Chris Lovell: "Another great artist told me about Chris and his art. When I checked out his page, I loved his style and amazing drawings straight away. So I wrote him a message if he would be into designing a t-shirt design for us. It turned out great, so there was no doubt whom to ask for the new album artwork for 'Ghost Empire'! I told him what the album is about and he said that he would love to do it. It didn't take long for him to come up with first ideas which were amazing! I hope we can work with him on other projects in the future, he is a great guy and easy to work with and I think the result speaks for itself!"
Added Lovell: "I have been heavily into metal since the age of 12.
"It's always nice when a band I am a fan of contacts me with a brief for a project.
"I was stoked to read Marc's ideas as post-apocalyptic imagery is something I have an obsession with. I grew up loving films like 'Mad Max', 'Cyborg' and the 'Fist Of The North Star' anime. There's something about destroyed buildings and wastelands that stir my imagination and conjure up all kinds of haunting images in my head. It's also much more fun and easier to draw ruined buildings than perfect ones!
"Marc and I brainstormed ideas one evening and we came up with lots of elements we liked such as crows, scarecrows, rats etc. I sketched out a very rough concept idea and layout for the basic image. The front and back cover is all in one, so I had a nice wide landscape to work with. I liked the idea of a road on the main cover, leading to what could look like a hive of collapsed skyscrapers and buildings, leaning on each other and climbing into the clouds. On the left side a cliff face leading down to stormy seas and a shore line littered with ship wrecks and capsized boats.
"I wanted the image to look void of human life and haunting.
"I drew out the bulk of the main image in pencil, then used inks and acrylic paint to add depth and highlights. I then scanned the image in and coloured it with a graphics tablet on Photoshop. I drew a number of other elements, like telegraph poles, crows, skulls and rats and scanned them in separately.
"I wanted to be able to experiment with placement and give the band the option to move elements around etc.
"I lost track of how many hours I put into the piece, it all becomes a blur.
"I like to stream horror movies or listen to music and just lose myself in the art I make.
"I have a bit of an obsession with detail and I tend to spend hours tweaking elements on an image people will probably never even notice.
"CALIBAN have been a pleasure to work with. After I had the pleasure of hearing the demos while working on this project it is an honour to have done the artwork for what will be an amazing album!"
CALIBAN's eighth studio album, "I Am Nemesis", entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 21.
"I Am Nemesis" was released in North America on February 28, 2012 via Century Media Records. The CD featured guest appearances by Marcus Bischoff (HEAVEN SHALL BURN) and Mitch Lucker (SUICIDE SILENCE).

KADAVAR On Their Favorite Moments Of 2013 (Video)A four-and-a-half-minute video clip of Berlin, Germany-based classic/psychedelic rockers KADAVAR talking about their favorite moments of 2013 can be seen below.
KADAVAR earlier in the year parted ways with bassist Mammut. The group commented: "After almost three years of band history, Mammut left the band due to musical and personal reasons. We believe that this decision was for the good of us all and wish him only the best for his future."
Mammut sat out KADAVAR's recent tour dates and was replaced by a stand-in musician who also happens to be an old friend of the band and has now officially been named as KADAVAR's new bassist: Simon Bouteloup.
"For us, Simon Bouteloup was the only replacement imaginable all along," the band said. "We've toured with his ex-band AQUA NEBULA OSCILLATOR in the past and recorded a split record with them. Afterwards, he accompanied our tours on a regular basis. In autumn of 2012 he moved from Paris to Berlin and joined THE OATH. We're happy to have him on board as a permanent member now!"
KADAVAR's new lineup:
Christoph "Lupus" Lindemann - Vocals, GuitarChristoph "Tiger" Bartelt - DrumsSimon "Dragon" Bouteloup - Bass
KADAVAR's second full-length album, "Abra Kadavar", entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 42. The CD was released in Europe on April 12 via Nuclear Blast Records.
"Abra Kadavar" was made available as a limited digi version, including a bonus track, as well on different vinyl versions.

APOCALYPTICA Performs On L'ENORME TV's 'Une Dose 2 Metal' (Video)The ground-breaking Finnish orchestral rock group APOCALYPTICA performed on a recent episode of the French show "Une Dose 2 Metal" on L'Enorme TV. Check it the footage below.
For APOCALYPTICA's just-released live album "Wagner Reloaded - Live In Leipzig" (BMG), the band teamed with the acclaimed MDR Leipzig Symphony Orchestra. The album's release is perfectly timed since 2013 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of iconic German composer Richard Wagner.
"It's complex to record a live album with an orchestra, because there are so many lines, microphones and there's one stupid drummer, who beats the shit out of the drums and creates so much noise that everything is spoiled afterwards," laughs APOCALYPTICA's cellist Eicca Toppinen while nodding to drummer Mikko Sirén. "It's a challenge, we prepared well in advance, and Sven Helbig, the orchestrator, did a great job in making it run together, it works."
For "Wagner Reloaded - Live In Leipzig", APOCALYPTICA created new compositions based on Wagner's body of work and his life, teaming (with award-winning choreographer and dancer Gregor Seyffert to stage a brilliant and magical, cross-genre event featuring a live concert and theatrical production.
Since its inception, the Finnish cello-based heavy rock group APOCALYPTICA has been mining the classical form and structure creating compositions that are both unpredictable and unforgettable. From the METALLICA covers that turned the music scene on its ear to 2007's "Worlds Collide" — which saw the group collaborate (with everyone from SLIPKNOT's Corey Taylor to RAMMSTEIN's Till Lindemann and LACUNA COIL's Cristina Scabbia — APOCALYPTICA have released seven studio albums featuring numerous cello-based instrumentals and vocal-based songs. They've explored styles from atmospheric interludes to fast, battering rhythms — their music has always been gripping, dynamic and full of melody.

Behind-The-Scenes Look At VOLBEAT's European Arena Tour (Video)An inside look at the FOH (front-of-house) and monitoring sound plus lighting at Olympiahalle in Munich, Germany on November 13 during VOLBEAT's recent European headlining tour can be seen below (courtesy of Event Elevator).
VOLBEAT released a "tour edition" of its latest album, "Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies", on November 4. The new version of the Danish/American rock act's fifth studio album contains new bonus tracks and a live DVD. The latter features footage of the group performing at a number of major summer festivals in Europe, including the Download festival in the U.K., Rock Am Ring and Rock'n'Heim in Germany, Hellfest in France and Denmark's Roskilde Festival. "Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies" debuted at No. 1 in several countries when it arrived last April, with the disc entering the Billboard album chart at No. 9.
The latest single from the record, "Lola Montez", broke into the Active Rock Top 10 at No. 7.
The song is one of many from the album based on historical or fictional characters from the Old West. Frontman Michael Poulsen told The Pulse Of Radio he wanted to use some of the lesser known figures from the era. "Of course, I was flirting a little around with Wyatt Earp, but the thing is, everybody knows Wyatt Earp," he said. "Do we need another story about Wyatt Earp? I don't know, you know, so I choosed [sic] some other characters, you know, like Black Bart — not everyone have heard of him. Doc Holliday's somebody people know, but there's also a lot of people [that] don't know him. So I wanted to bring up some characters that were not that well known, but who were really interesting."
VOLBEAT's four previous U.S. singles — "The Hangman's Body Count", "Still Counting", "A Warrior's Call" and "Heaven Nor Hell" — all went to No. 1 on the rock chart.

CORPSESSED's 'Abysmal Thresholds' To Arrive In FebruaryDark Descent Records will release "Abysmal Thresholds", the full-length debut from Finland's CORPSESSED, on February 4. After terrorizing your ear drums with 2011's "The Dagger And The Chalice" and 2012's self-titled seven-inch single, CORPSESSED is poised to thoroughly decimate what's left of your auditory senses. "Abysmal Thresholds" is over 47 minutes of death metal the way you've come to expect from this hard-hitting Finnish band. No fluff, no hyperbole. CORPSESSED was spawned from putrescent slime in 2007. Vocalist Niko Matilainen, guitarist Matti Mäkelä and drummer Jussi-Pekka Manner were joined by guitarist Jyri Lustig and (de)composing of morbid death metal tunes began at the rotting houses of Järvenpää delta area. The group's original bass player, Mikko Mäkelä, disappeared in unknown circumstances and was replaced later in 2009 by Mikko Pöllä.
CORPSESSED's first EP, "The Dagger ANd The Chalice", was released on CD by Dark Descent Records in May 2011. The vinyl version released by Me Saco Un Ojo in co-operation with Dark Descent in October 2011. That release was followed up by a two-track, self-titled seven-inch EP in 2012. 1
