Fan-filmed video footage of DEVICE, the industrial-style project featuring DISTURBED frontman David Draiman, performing on August 8 at the Asylum in Portland, Maine can be seen below.

DEVICE recently filmed a video for the song "You Think You Know". Directing the clip once again was P.R. Brown, who helmed DEVICE's first video, for the song "Vilify". Brown has previously collaborated with such artists as MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, John Mayer, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood, Prince, AUDIOSLAVE, MÖTLEY CRÜE and SIXX: A.M.

DEVICE released its self-titled debut album on April 9. It debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard album chart, selling 35,000 copies in its first week of release. The CD features guest appearances from AVENGED SEVENFOLD singer M. Shadows, SYSTEM OF A DOWN vocalist Serj Tankian, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello, HALESTORM singer Lzzy Hale, BLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler and ex-DEEP PURPLE bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes.

David launched DEVICE last year with ex-FILTER guitarist Geno Lenardo, after DISTURBED went on hiatus in late 2011.

Lenardo is not touring with DEVICE due to previous commitments. The live band, which made its debut on April 10 in Mobile, Alabama, includes DOPE guitarist Virus and EVANESCENCE drummer Will Hunt.

DEVICE took part in this summer's Gigantour alongside MEGADETH, HELLYEAH, NEWSTED and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY.

French doom/death act ATARAXIE will release their third album, L’Etre Et La Nausee, on September 1st via Weird Truth Production.

Noisy psychedelic Floridians ORBWEAVER recently dropped their brain-fraying Strange Transmissions From The Neuralnomicon EP upon unsuspecting masses. The five-tracks are a harrowing, multifaceted sound voyage through modulating realities recorded at Miami's Pinecrust Studios with Jonathan Nunez of TORCHE, and mixed/mastered with Brian Elliot at Mana Recording Studios (HATE ETERNAL, CANNIBAL CORPSE, GOATWHORE).
Orbweaver produce cosmic pandemonium reminiscent of a Zappa-esque brand of controlled chaos. Forged in 2010 by guitarist/vocalist Randy Piro (ex-Hate Eternal, Gigan) and drummer Mike Pena, the pair recorded a self-titled, three-song demo. Shortly after, lead guitarist Sally Gates (ex-Gigan) and bassist Jason Ledgard joined the fold. Mike Pena parted ways with the group in 2013, and was replaced by drummer/percussionist Scott Spasiano.

SLEGEST, the solo project of former VREID guitarist Ese, recently inked a deal with Dark Essence Records for the release of the band’s debut full length album.
Set for release later this year, the eight-track album will be titled Løyndom (Secret) and was recorded partly in Ese’s own Systrond Studio and partly at the Conclave and Earshot Studio with producer Bjørnar E. Nilsen. The album is mastered by ENSLAVED’s Herbrand Larsen.

Slegest was born in 2010, following Ese’s departure from Vreid, where he played guitar on four of the iconic band’s albums. Drawing his inspiration from BLACK SABBATH, Ese’s use of harsh vocals to create a special blend of classic heavy rock and old-school black metal was used to great effect on the band’s first release, the self-titled Slegest EP which appeared in 2012. One year later Ese has developed Slegest’s sound further, honing it to achieve a result that is both dark and sinister, whilst at the same time losing none of the dirtiness that can be heard in the unmistakable catchy groove that weaves its way through the music.

Whilst Slegest started life as solo project, with Ese handling vocals and playing all the instruments on Løyndom, apart from a guest solo by former Vreid band-mate Sture, it became apparent very quickly to everyone who heard the album that the potential for taking Slegest further and turning it into a live band was unmistakable and to ignore it would be insanity. As a result a live lineup has been put together and will be seen at festivals in the near future.

On September 3rd, earMUSIC and Eagle Rock Entertainment will release the first studio recording of JON LORD's Concerto For Group And Orchestra. Originally released in September 2012 on CD (earMusic/Eagle Rock), this groundbreaking meeting of rock and classical music will now be released as a Blu-ray/CD set and double vinyl.

The recording of this incredible album began in June 2011 in Liverpool. Lord, the marvelous rhythm section of Guy Pratt (PINK FLOYD, MADONNA) and Brett Morgan (JON ANDERSON, STING) with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (with whom Jon had recorded twice before) were conducted by Paul Mann. The production then moved to Abbey Road Studios in London to record Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson (on vocals with Steve Balsamo and Kasia Laska) and Joe Bonamassa, Darin Vasilev and Steve Morse on guitars.

Happily, Jon got to hear and approve the final mixes a few weeks before he passed away. The family and earMUSIC decided to proceed with the release of the album in September 2012 as scheduled, as this seemed the best way to celebrate and pay tribute to Jon and his beautiful music. Thus this superb studio recording of Concerto For Group And Orchestra is exactly the way Jon wanted us to hear it and will now hopefully become Jon's legacy for generations to come.

With his legendary organ blues-rock sound, Deep Purple’s founder Jon Lord has influenced decades of rock musicians. He is with no doubt the pioneer of fusing rock and classical/baroque forms and became one of the most important composers of the last few decades. Jon Lord co-wrote many of Deep Purple’s legendary songs including 'Smoke On The Water' and played with many bands and musicians throughout his career (WHITESNAKE, PAICE ASHTON LORD, GEORGE HARRISON). Best known for his orchestral work Concerto For Group And Orchestra was first performed and recorded at Royal Albert Hall with Deep Purple and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 1969, conducted by the renowned Malcolm Arnold - a feat repeated in 1999 when it was again performed at the Royal Albert Hall by the London Symphony Orchestra and Deep Purple.

Divebomb Records has teamed up with members of Chicago-based thrash act, STYGIAN, for the worldwide re-issue of their landmark album, Planetary Destruction. Originally released in 1992 via CHASTAIN guitarist/founder David Chastain's Leviathan Records, Stygian didn't necessarily break new ground during the final gasps of the thrash movement, but as the years passed the album's admirers grew exponentially and it now holds a firm place at the top of the heap as a sure fire cult metal classic.

The Divebomb Records Planetary Destruction re-issue will contain brand new mastering by Jamie King, full color booklet with archival band photos and new interview with bassist James Harris.

Release date has not been set yet, but is planned for some time in 2014.

Pitch Black Records announces the addition of Norway’s GHOST AVENUE (formerly GHOST) to its roster of artists and the release of the band’s (self-titled) second album.

Long-running U.S. metallers RIOT will release an as-yet-untitled new album in 2014 via SPV/Steamhammer (in North America and Europe) and Avalon/Marquee (Asia). The band will enter the studio in December to begin recording its first studio CD without guitarist and founding member Mark Reale, who died in January 2012 in a San Antonio hospital due to complications of Crohn's disease — an ailment he had battled for most of his life. He was 56 years old.

Although no decision has yet been made in the matter, RIOT bassist Donnie Van Stavern has revealed that the group's new album may be issued under a different band name — presumably in recognition of the fact that Reale was RIOT's only remaining original member prior to his passing.

RIOT states about the upcoming CD: "Extensive press release coming soon as well as info and samples.

"Thank you, fans, for your support!

"Thank you, Mark. This is for you and dedicated to you! Shine on, metal warrior!"

Reale spent most of his life working and performing while enduring almost constant pain and the side effects of treatment for Crohn's disease. He was in Texas bravely attempting to practice for the shows, but was felled by a severe onset of Crohn's symptoms, leaving him in the Intensive Care Unit at an undisclosed facility. Mark was struggling with these symptoms throughout the production of RIOT's last album, "Immortal Soul", and guitarist Mike Flyntz recorded a major portion of the guitars on the LP with Mark's creative direction while Reale was unable to perform.

In a September 2012 online posting, the surviving members of RIOT rejected claims that they were trying to cash in on Reale's death, writing, "RIOT has never really made lots of money — not even Mark. He lived with his parents until the day he passed. And we all have day jobs.

"Mark was our brother. He lived with us and we took care of him up until his passing, and we are still deeply saddened by the death of a family member."

They went on to say that Reale was "too shaky" to play anything but four rhythm tracks on the "Immortal Soul" album, leaving Flyntz to complete the work. "It did frustrate him," they added. Nevertheless, "Mark was at the studio, and was pleased with how it was coming out — and was proud to call it a RIOT record.

"Mark and his estate's wishes were for us to go on, and most people want us to. We play songs we wrote or co-wrote, and play a few of Mark's songs in tribute to him and the early years… We're all fans of the early stuff."

"There are bands out there playing songs and performing with ONE original guy in the band and some didn't write any of the music — QUIET RIOT, GUNS N' ROSES, GREAT WHITE now QUEENSRŸCHE! And, of course, THIN LIZZY (well, a couple of guys, but NOT Phil [Lynott]) but people come out to hear songs they love.

"Mike Flyntz has been taking care of Mr. Reale [Mark's father] since Mark's death because [Mike] is like a son to him now."

A concert featuring Vince Neil, GREAT WHITE and SLAUGHTER was canceled Saturday night (August 17) after an accident involving a garbage truck on Highway 124 near Brooks Road caused a massive power outage in the area of Ford Park in in Beaumont, Texas.

According to a news release issued by the operators of Ford Park, the outage compromised the ability to safely continue with the performance.

"We regret this incidence occurred but the band and promoter have agreed to reschedule this show, date to be announced at a later time," the SMG management company said in the news release. "The safety of fans is a priority for all parties involved."

Purchased tickets will be honored at the future date or refunds can be obtained at point of purchase.

New Jersey melodic thrash-metal warriors GOD FORBID have officially called it quits following the departure of guitarist/vocalist Doc Coyle.

Said guitarist Matt Wicklund in a statement: "As many of you have heard, GOD FORBID has broken up. It is a sad time for us and also a time of new beginnings.

"The past four years have been an amazing journey for me and I am forever thankful for the experiences I have gained and the the musical family that I was welcomed into. I have grown immensely from all of this as an artist and a person.

"I am very proud of the album 'Equilibrium' that I got to write and record with the guys and I loved every minute I got to play all of the songs, new and old, on stages around the world for all of the wild and loyal GOD FORBID fans. "Equilibrium", sold 3,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 156 on The Billboard 200 chart. The effort landed at No. 7 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Equilibrium" was released on March 27, 2012 via Victory Records. The bulk of the CD was recorded by Mark Lewis (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, WHITECHAPEL, DEVILDRIVER, TRIVIUM), with Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, ALL THAT REMAINS, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, CHIMAIRA, DEVILDRIVER) stepping in during the the vocal-tracking stage. The effort was mixed by acclaimed Swedish producer Jens Bogren, who has previously worked with such acts as KATATONIA, OPETH, PARADISE LOST and AMON AMARTH.

METALLICA has revealed the details of "Metallica Through The Never (Music From The Motion Picture)", the soundtrack companion to the forthcoming groundbreaking 3D feature film "Metallica Through The Never". The two-disc CD set will be released on the band's own record label Blackened Recordings on September 24 and highlights last year's career spanning sets at Rexall Place in Edmonton and Rogers Arena in Vancouver, where the band filmed all performance footage featured in the film. The soundtrack is available for digital pre-order tonight at midnight EST and both the CD and digital album will be available at all retailers. There will also be a vinyl edition of the soundtrack album available in both 33 1/3RPM and special limited numbered 45RPM versions later in the fall.

"Metallica Through The Never" stars METALLICA, one of the most popular, influential rock bands in history. In this music-driven, 3D motion picture event, award-winning filmmaker Nimród Antal immerses audiences in a bracing, raw and visceral cinematic experience with spectacular live performance footage of METALLICA's most iconic songs — created exclusively for film — combined with a bold, narrative story featuring imagery drawn from the band's trailblazing iconography. Dane DeHaan portrays Trip, a young roadie sent on an urgent mission, during METALLICA's roaring live set in front of a sold-out arena. The film features dazzling pyrotechnics, the most elaborate live-performance stage ever built and state-of-the-art 3-D photography, captured using up to 24 cameras simultaneously.

German TV channel ZDF Kultur spoke with SYSTEM OF A DOWN drummer John Dolmayan earlier tonight (Saturday, August 17) prior to the band's performance at the Rock 'N' Heim festival in Hockenheim, Germany. You can now watch the chat below.

At the conclusion of SYSTEM OF A DOWN's July 29 concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California, Dolmayan announced that the band would release a new studio album prior to the group's next appearance in Los Angeles.

The following day, SYSTEM OF A DOWN singer Serj Tankian, shot down reports that the band is making plans to make a new studio album, telling fans in a Reddit Ask Me Anything session: "We really appreciate [the fact that the fans want a new studio album from us], but we have to make a record when we think it's time, not anyone else," Serj said.

"No, that is not true [that we have made plans to begin work on a new album]," he added. "A quick scan of press online will show that we have not yet agreed on a timetable for another record due to its time commitments."

Tankian also addressed the series of statements that were posted in May on SYSTEM OF A DOWN bassist Shavo Odadjian's Facebook page in which Shavo directly blamed Serj for the band's continued lack of new music, saying that the vocalist was holding the group back.

"Shavo's comments have been redacted by the author," Serj said. "The truth is above in my first answer."

He continued: "I am not opposed to making a SYSTEM record at all. It just has to be the right time for us all in the band."

Tankian has just released two albums through his Serjical Strike Records. "Orca", Tankian's first true symphony, arrived on June 25, while July 23 saw the release of a collaborative jazz-inspired disc called "Jazz-iz Christ".

SYSTEM OF A DOWN will tour Europe throughout the month of August. After that, Tankian will launch a series of solo orchestral tour dates on September 19 in Kiev, Ukraine.

Norwegian symphonic black metallers DIMMU BORGIR are working on material for the follow-up to 2010's "Abrahadabra" for an early 2014 release via Nuclear Blast Records.

Writes the band on its Facebook page: "By the desire to achieve. Stoked about our new material, its shaping up nicely. Creativity is the power to connect the seemingly unconnected."

DIMMU BORGIR was joined by an orchestra and a choir for an appearance at last year's edition of the Wacken Open Air festival, which was held August 2-4, 2012 in Wacken, Germany.

DIMMU BORGIR's current touring lineup includes Geir Bratland (APOPTYGMA BERZERK, THE KOVENANT) on keyboards and Terje Andersen (a.k.a. Cyrus; SUSPERIA) on bass.

DIMMU BORGIR performed one very exclusive show on May 28, 2011 at the Oslo Spektrum in Norway with a special, never-to-be-repeated setlist with 53 members of KORK (the Norwegian Radio Orchestra) and 30 members of the Schola Cantorum choir, who were musical guests on the band's ninth studio album, "Abrahadabra". The concert, dubbed "Forces Of The Northern Night", was professionally filmed and was broadcast as part of a one-hour documentary in June 2011 on NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation), the Norwegian government-owned radio and television public broadcasting company and the largest media organization in Norway.

"Abrahadabra", the ninth album from DIMMU BORGIR, was released in Germany on September 24, 2010, in the rest of Europe on September 27, 2010, and it was made available in North America on October 12, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records.

"Circus", the new video from Swedish rockers CRASHDÏET, can be seen below. The clip was directed by Rick-y.com and edited by John Morgan Studios. The song is the third single from the band's fourth album, "The Savage Playground", which entered the official chart in Sweden at position No. 2. The CD was released on January 25 in Europe (excluding Scandinavia) and January 22 in North America via Frontiers Records.

With "The Savage Playground" recorded during summer/autumn 2012 at Kingside Studios outside Stockholm with producer Otto Wellton, the band has their minds set to break through on a worldwide basis with a tour that will see the band going back to the U.S. as well as going to Japan for the first time.

The new album sees CRASHDÏET going in a heavier and direction. "'The Savage Playground' is our playground, it's the beginning and the end, it's the place where we eat and breed," says guitarist Martin Sweet. "We thought the time was right for us to do a edgier and not-so-polished-sounding album, kinda like what we sound like live. It's more organic and rough-sounding. And, of course, we're always evolving as musicians and like to try new ways of expressing ourselves, and that can most definitely be heard this album."

CRASHDÏET released a new DVD entitled "Shattered Glass And Broken Bones – Three Years Of Generation Wild" on December 4, 2012. The disc features three hours of live and behind-the-scenes footage complied by the band with Bear Productions.
