Las Vegas metallers FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH introduced the first single from their upcoming album, called "Lift Me Up", via a live appearance at the Revolver Golden Gods on May 2 in Los Angeles. The performance featured a special surprise guest — Rob Halford of JUDAS PRIEST — who also appears on the studio version of the track.

The studio version of the song premiered on Monday (May 13) on U.S. radio stations and the official lyric video for the track can now be seen below.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's fourth studio effort will be a double album that the band will release in two installments. The first volume, "The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell Volume 1", will arrive on July 23, with the second half, "The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell Volume 2", to surface sometime later this fall.

Comments FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH singer Ivan Moody: "First and foremost, just to work alongside an icon like Rob Halford, THE Metal God, was absolutely surreal.

"The song itself was originally written about overcoming everyday obstacles and less-than-perfect situations.

"The song's intent is to inspire; if you play that hand right, you might just come out on top anyway."

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Zoltan Bathory said, "We came off the road after a couple of great years of touring and were really amped up to write the fourth record . . . (we) found ourselves 12-13 songs deep fairly quick but were still coming up with better and better material so we looked at each other and said, 'OK, why stop there? Let's keep going.' Once we passed the 24th song, we knew we're going to have to do a double album."

Bathory added, "We had this massive amount of music that's very dear to us, possibly the best material this band has ever created. At that point there was no way to decide which songs to leave off the album. So we made the decision to release them all."

The guitarist told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that everyone in FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH is capable of coming up with music. "You know, it's important to write songs," he said. "There was a time when people couldn't be in a band if they couldn't write songs or they couldn't play their instruments. In this band, that's how this band was kind of assembled, like everybody's a top shelf musician. Everybody can really kick ass, and we have a singer who can sing. And then we write songs."

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH will co-headline the 2013 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival this summer alongside ROB ZOMBIE, with the tour kicking off in San Bernardino, California on June 29.

The new double disc follows up 2011's "American Capitalist", the group's third studio album and its third consecutive release to reach gold status for sales of half a million copies or more.

HALESTORM has released a new version of the song "Here's To Us", featuring an all-star lineup of guest performers. Joining the band on this edition of the song are guitarist Slash, SHINEDOWN frontman Brent Smith, ALTER BRIDGE vocalist Myles Kennedy, Tyler Connolly from THEORY OF A DEADMAN, DEVICE/DISTURBED singer David Draiman and IN THIS MOMENT's Maria Brink. The song was previously covered on a February 2012 episode of the hit television show "Glee". Lzzy Hale told The Pulse Of Radio at the time why the band let it happen. "It's pretty much the strangest thing we've done so far as a band and also, I think, the most exciting," she said. "There's a little bit of controversy because, obviously, 'Glee' is very pop culture, it's very kind of Broadway, and personally I think it's really good for us, only because here's an outlet for us that it's gonna expose us to so many people that would not normally be seeking us out."

HALESTORM is currently on the HardDrive Live tour with BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE and YOUNG GUNS. The trek will wrap up on May 22 in Milwaukee.

Described by QUEENS principal Joshua Homme as "an audio documentary of a manic year," "...Like Clockwork" is the band¹s first full-length collection of all new material since 2007's "Era Vulgaris", as well as its debut release on new label partner Matador. "…Like Clockwork" features guest appearances from Trent Reznor, Dave Grohl and other luminaries, including the legendary Elton John. "It actually stemmed from an old roommate of mine, who drives really high-end folks around now, and Elton was in the car listening to THEM CROOKED VULTURES, I guess," he said. "And his assistant was saying, 'Oh, you've got to hear QUEENS, the other band of this guy,' you know. And because my old roommate was driving the car, it was like, 'Do you want to talk to him?' And I just got a phone call at my house on a Sunday. You know, he said, 'The only thing missing from your band is an actual queen,' and I said, 'Honey, you have no idea.'"

The track that Elton plays on is called "Fairweather Friends".

Although it was initially reported that Dave Grohl played all the drum tracks on the new CD, Grohl only appears on selected songs. The rest of the drums are handled by Joey Castillo and Jon Theodore.

Other guests on the record include SCISSOR SISTERS singer Jake Shears, ARCTIC MONKEYS frontman Alex Turner and one-time QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE members Mark Lanegan and Nick Oliveri.

Aalborg, Denmark-based old school death/doom metal act THE VEIN are soon to release their debut, Scouring The Wreckage Of Time, via Shadow Kingdom Records.

In between creating epic doom metal albums, the two ALTAR OF OBLIVION members involved gave birth to this devil child. The Vein is a death/doom metal twist to what Altar Oblivion has done on albums like last year's Grand Gesture Of Defiance; their approach is very epic in nature, but The Vein offers something much darker and heavier. Musically, the style is a classic one; recalling the late 80s early 90's death and black metal. The Vein starts off with a very unique release, a double EP.

Rock act FILTER will release its sixth studio album, "The Sun Comes Out Tonight", on June 4 via Wind-Up Records. The CD was recorded in Los Angeles at Blue Room studios with producer Bob Marlette (BLACK SABBATH, ATREYU, SALIVA). The follow-up to 2010's "The Trouble With Angels" was written and recorded by leader Richard Patrick and guitarist Jonny Radtke, as well as collaborator Marlette. There are also performances from touring members Jeff Friedl and Elias Mallin (drums) and Phil Buckman (bass).

In a 2012 interview with "All Knowing Force", Patrick said about the songwriting process for the new CD, "One of the main things we set out to do, we said let's make a song with all the elements of 'Hey Man Nice Shot', and we sat there and it wrote itself." He added, "We didn't want to write the same bass line or guitar progression, but it had to be an amazing riff; let's start with that. The riff was so good, it's a two-bar pattern, and we throw guitar over it with drums and I scream and the bass line never changes, it's a nonstop bass line that never ever changes."

Regarding the inspiration for the new material, Patrick said, "We were talking about some of the things that are going on in my life; there's been a lot of betrayal from people surrounding me. So we were thinking 'Hey Man Nice Shot', that's something that describes a desperate man's actions and trying to make sense of it, almost like a joke. So we started talking about betrayal and we played around with the words 'Take That Knife Out of My Back' and all of a sudden this song just wrote itself."

On the topic of the overall direction of the new CD, Patrick said, "We have this beautiful record that starts off heavy and mean and then it goes back to the more moody, almost joyful parts of life. For me, the record that we always try to model is the 'Title Of Record' era — that sets the standard in how heavy and how light we can go. We just aspire to make the songs as good and I think the songwriting is superior, we just have to make sure the performances are as desperate and powerful as those crazy takes I did when I was kid."

Death metal pioneers MASTER have inked a deal with German extreme music label FDA Rekotz for the release of the band's 12th full-length album.

"Hard Lessons", the new video from the Los Angeles hardcore/metal band TERROR, can be seen below. Regarding TERROR's new deal with Victory, the band's vocalist, Scott Vogel, previously said: "When I was in high school, I would go to Home Of The Hits Records in Buffalo, New York and every week I would check for new Victory releases.

"Growing up, Victory Records always had the best hardcore bands, period. They had this awesome packaging and vibe that I loved. INTEGRITY, STRIFE, BLOODLET, EARTH CRISIS — it was a fucking amazing time for hardcore. Later, I met [Victory Records founder] Tony [Brummel] when he came to Buffalo to see SNAPCASE. We stayed in contact and made plans for my second band, DESPAIR, but soon after we broke up.

"Victory and my band BURIED ALIVE worked together for years. They also had HATEBREED, BLOOD FOR BLOOD, ALL OUT WAR and REACH THE SKY, all bands I've always respected and held in the highest regard.

"This summer, I hung out with Tony and we had a wild night in Chicago. We talked about the good and bad of hardcore today and just had a blast. No business talk, no nonsense. We were under contract at the time so there wasn't even room for it.

"As we got ready to release 'Live By The Code', TERROR and Century Media debated on how to release the record right and Victory Records seemed like the best fit.

"Tony and I are both insane. We both come from the same place. We both scratch and fight to stay afloat. We still believe in the essence of hardcore and still love WARZONE. This is pretty fucking exciting."

Vogel claims "Live By The Code" "hits harder than 'Keepers Of The Faith'," calling it the "dirtiest, rawest and most hardcore record we've done since 'Lowest Of The Low'."

"TERROR are the biggest hardcore band in the world," said Brummel.

"I have known Scott for twenty years and he has remained true to what he believes in, cherishes and helps keep alive which is first and foremost: hardcore.

"If you are just discovering hardcore or have loved it since the movement started in the late 1970s, this album is for you."

European female-fronted metallers FACE OFF have released their first music video entitled 'Fragile' from their debut album, The Colour Of Rain, which was released on February 14th worldwide, via the Canadian Label Maple Metal Records.

Code666 has announced the re-signing of Italian occult metal band ECNEPHIAS. The band just completed the recording of the follow-up to their Inferno album.
Formed in 1996, Ecnephias (Mancan, guitar and vocals; Sicarius, keyboards and piano; Demil, drums; Nikko, guitars; Miguel, bass) have built a reputation for their mix of occult metal, Mediterranean influences and extreme metal.

Frontiers Records has announced the digital release of the first single from BLACKMORE'S NIGHT's new album, "Dancer And The Moon", entitled "The Moon Is Shining (Somewhere Over The Sea)". This beautiful new song is "based on an old folk Czech melody which Candice [Night, BLACKMORE'S NIGHT singer and Ritchie's wife] and I thought were very melodic and haunting," says BLACKMORE'S NIGHT guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. "We adapted and arranged to suit more of a rock structure. We also played it as a ballad as it was originally intended. We asked several of our Czech friends what it was called but they couldn't tell us, so it remains a mystery"."

According to NovatoPatch, a house in Novato, California once owned by METALLICA frontman James Hetfield is on the market for $3.4 million.

Hetfield sold the home to the current owners in 2003. It's a 4-bed, 3-bath, 3-half bath house that sits on five acres and features a timber outdoor kitchen and saltwater pool.

The fence cut off the Luiz Ranch Fire Trail which connects the Terra Linda-Sleepy Hollow Divide and Loma Alta open space preserves, both popular destinations for nature enthusiasts.

Maldivian melodic heavy metal band NOTHNEGAL will release its new self-titled EP on July 9 via Season Of Mist. The effort was recorded at Vakaruge Studios in the Maldives with producer Shamheed, with additional production by Matt Hyde (SLIPKNOT, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, AS I LAY DYING) and Paul Reeve (MUSE).

"Nothnegal" will consist of four tracks and will be released exclusively through digital retailers in North America and other parts of the world. The band's first release with new vocalist Affan and new guitarist Chippe (SERENITY DIES), who is currently filling in for longtime NOTHNEGAL guitarist Fufu, the EP's sound is described by NOTHNEGAL as "very raw and organic with minimal electronic effects." Commented DEEDS OF FLESH founding member Erik Lindmark: "We are very excited to get this release out there amoung the masses.

"The album combines new and old elements of the band and we think the fans will really enjoy it. Zack from Castle Ultimate has done a great job in putting the final touches to the production and 'Portals To Canaan' is most definitely our best production to date.

DEEDS OF FLESH's last CD, "Of What's to Come", came out in November 2008 via Unique Leader.

According to Variety, METALLICA's upcoming IMAX 3D movie, "Metallica Through The Never", will be shopped and screened at this year's Cannes film festival, the world's most important cinema showcase, by Nigel Sinclair and Guy East's international sales company Exclusive Media.

"After wading through multiple international distribution options for our film, we are excited to be partnering up with the folks at Exclusive Media, who we feel understand METALLICA and understand our film better than anyone else," METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich said in a statement. "Throw in the cherry-on-top, launching our international sales with a couple of screenings at the film market during a little up-and-coming film festival in Cannes, and it feels like we're off to a pretty rockin' start."

The first image from "Metallica Through The Never" was published by Entertainment Weekly. The photo shows the main character, a METALLICA crew member played by Dane DeHaan, standing against a backdrop of flames and what appears to be an angry mob of fans. In the story, DeHaan is assigned with carrying out a mysterious task for the band as they perform at a local arena. Producer Charlotte Huggins described the film as "a dramatic movie in which a concert takes place."

Huggins added that the two shows filmed for the movie — along with their elaborate stage production — were done by METALLICA solely for the film, explaining, "It took me seven months of working with METALLICA until I grasped that they had created this very complex, very elaborate show just for our film. After we were done, that entire stage got packed up and put away."

In addition to DeHaan and the band, the movie features thousands of the group's fans, with Huggins saying, "Lars, James, Kirk and Robert always consider fans the fifth member of the band. Because it's a 360-degree arena show, the fans are in every frame."
"Metallica Through The Never" will open in limited release on September 27. The film will play for one week exclusively in IMAX theaters in North America before expanding into additional theaters on October 4.

Dane DeHaan's acting credits include "Chronicle", "The Place Beyond The Pines" and 2014's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2".

Speaking to Collider.com, DeHaan stated about "Metallica Through The Never": "It's, in a way, like a 3D concert movie but there's also this narrative that ties together all the footage. It's gonna be, first of all, really rock and roll and really 'METALLICA,' for lack of a better word; they don't hold back at all. But during the concert, I basically go on this trip as a roadie for the band and I pretty much literally have to go through hell and back to take it back to them, and all of this is going on during the concert, so it all ties together really kind of beautifully and uniquely. It's unlike anything that I've ever seen before; it's almost like a concert movie meets 'The Wall' meets METALLICA."

"Metallica Through The Never" is directed by Nimród Antal, who also directed "Vacancy" and "Predators".

Next up for METALLICA is the second edition of its annual Orion Music + More festival, which is scheduled to take place on June 8-9 in Detroit.

The concert sequences for METALLICA's movie were shot last August at two shows in Vancouver, Canada.

Reunited METAL CHURCH — Ronny Munroe on vocals, Kurdt Vanderhoof and Rick Van Zandt on guitars, Steve Unger on bass, and Jeff Plate on drums — recently entered Vanderhoof's English Channel studio in Washingtion to begin work on its comeback album for a late summer/early fall 2013 release via Kurdt's label Body Of Work Recordings. According to Munroe, he has just started laying down vocal tracks on the CD, which he said in a recent interview with Metal Assault would contain material that is "very reminiscent of the old days with some stuff that's very 'now.'" He added: "There's a bit of… I'm not going to say 'prog' because it's not, but there's a couple of elements in there that are a little bit progressive. For the most part, out of this batch of songs, they really sound more reminiscent of the early days than anything we've done before with this lineup. This excites me very much, and I think the fans are really going to dig it."

Regarding the circumstances that led to METAL CHURCH's breakup in 2009, Ronny said: "Well, in a nutshell, without going into a huge and long story here, it was certain aspects of things that had continued to happen to the band throughout its career. Not having the proper management and the proper people in place that were handling us. You know, we ended up taking some shows we shouldn't have taken and that just led to where Kurdt was really getting fed up and then we all kind of got that way. Basically, we figured before we end up disbanding because of other reasons such as maybe starting to fight with one another or whatnot, we decided to go ahead and end it then. We all ended up friends and we wanted to keep it that way. So I won't go into specifics, but we all know what the music industry is like now compared to what it was like back then. We just didn't have the right people in our camp."

Asked what the band is going to do differently this time around to avoid falling into the same trap, Ronny said: "This time around we're going to release this next record on Kurdt's label. Basically, Kurdt and the band and whatnot are taking a lot more control of the situation. Yes, maybe the downloading thing is even worse than 2009, but also on the other hand, if you know what you're doing and you use the Internet correctly, you can actually have success. Kurdt's been doing that with his prog band PRESTO BALLET and whatnot. In this day and age, the time is right to go and try something on your own. If it doesn't work, you can always end up going out and searching for a label or something. We're going to take a shot at it and see what happens and I think we're probably going to have some decent success."

Veteran British/American heavy metal trio RAVEN will release "Rock Until You Drop - A Long Days Journey" two-disc DVD as a digipak via SPV/Steamhammer on the following dates:

RAVEN recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of its seminal album "All For One" by playing select dates dubbed "All For One Forever", during which they performed many tracks from the album, including some rarely or never performed live. Originally released in 1983, "All For One" was not only the band's breakout LP, it was also a massively influential slab of classic metal. The band's groundbreaking and high-energy approach was a vital element in the development of thrash.

RAVEN's latest album, "Walk Through Fire", was released in the U.S. on March 30, 2010 (one day earlier in Europe through SPV/Steamhammer) via Metal Blade Records. The CD was recorded at Assembly Line Studios with engineer/mixer Kevin 131 (PROJECT: FAILING FLESH, DECEASED, DYSRYTHMIA, GARDEN OF SHADOWS).

Frontiers Records will release PAT TRAVERS BAND's new album, "Can Do", on July 5 in Europe and July 9 in North America.

Toronto-born Pat Travers has delivered one tasty release after another in his over 37 years career in music. From the powerhouse, rockin' '70s sound of such albums as "Heat In The Street" and "Makin' Magic" to the classy melodic Eighties rock before a blues period in the Nineties, Pat has always kept a high standard for his musical output.

"When I was contacted by Frontiers to record a new original studio album, they asked me if I could create some music reminiscent of my earlier albums that were done in the U.K. and South Florida in the late '70's and early '80s," says Pat. "What made those records different was that I was allowed the luxury of spending some time in the studio without any outside influences and that's when I could get really creative. Frontiers Records let me have the time I needed to work on the songs and production. Also, the beginning of 2012 was a particularly creative period for me and I believe I have written some of my best material ever for 'Can Do'."

Since the second decade of the Millennium dawned, Pat and his band show no sign of letting up. The proof of the future are safe in the eight hands of Mr. Travers, second guitarist Kirk McKim, bassist Rodney O'Quinn and longtime sticksman Sandy Gennaro.

"We had a fantastic collaboration and I felt very comfortable when tracking the new music," says Pat. "I really feel that the sound and production and also the quality of the songs and performances make this what I think my fans are going to call 'a classic Pat Travers record.'"

STEEL PANTHER recently entered a studio in Sherman Oaks, California with producer Jay Ruston (ANTHRAX, STONE SOUR, MEATLOAF) to record its third full-length album for a September release.
STEEL PANTHER is infecting the world this spring on its recently announced "Spreading The Disease (S.T.D.) Tour". The 20-date trek kicked off on April 13 in Orlando, Florida at WJRR's Earthday Birthday.

The "Spreading The Disease (S.T.D.) Tour" is making headline stops in various markets across the country, including Atlanta and New York, to name a few. Recently, the feverish outbreak for STEEL PANTHER in Boston caused the show to have to be moved to the House of Blues from the Paradise where it was originally scheduled. The band will also be hitting the spring festivals with stops at Welcome To Rockville, Carolina Rebellion, Rock On The Range and even this year's Ozzfest in Japan.

STEEL PANTHER's first-ever DVD, "British Invasion", sold 3,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 2 on Billboard's Top Music Videos chart.

Veteran producer Bill Metoyer (SLAYER, W.A.S.P., ARMORED SAINT, DARK ANGEL, SACRED REICH, CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER, D.R.I.) is currently mixing new album from Chicago doom-metal legends TROUBLE for a tentative summer release.

Comments the band: "We'd like to thank everyone for their enthusiasm and patience in waiting on the new album. It's definitely been a long road, but we are getting close now and a lot is going on.

"The tracks are with the legendary Bill Metoyer who worked with us on 'The Skull' and 'Trouble'. Tones are sounding killer. Vocals great. Drums rock solid.

While that happens, work is being done on the album artwork which is looking incredible. We're also developing our new website and if that wasn't enough, some new merchandise items as well.

TROUBLE announced in February 2012 that it recruited Kyle Thomas as the band's new singer following the departure of the group's frontman of the previous four years, Kory Clarke (of WARRIOR SOUL fame).

Thomas, former lead vocalist for EXHORDER, FLOODGATE and ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY, was no stranger to TROUBLE as he previously fronted the band for four live shows between 1997 and 1999, including Stoner Hands Of Doom festival in Maryland and Expo Of The Extreme in Chicago. Thomas has also collaborated on projects with members of SLIPKNOT, DOWN, OBITUARY and DEICIDE.

In an interview with Metal Kaoz, TROUBLE guitarist Bruce Franklin stated about Kyle's addition to the band, "We didn't need to change any of the [new] music [to suit Kyle's vocals]. He really knows how to sing to TROUBLE stuff because he was a fan from way back."

Added Kyle: "They had given me four songs to work on when I was jamming with them in anticipation of possibly doing the album that came to be 'Simple Mind Condition'. I did demo one song, but nothing I did ever made it to the album. Things turned out the way that they have between then and now, and here I am."

He continued, "Bruce and Rick [Wartell, guitar] have always been great to me as people and business partners. I was made to feel an equal back then, and the same goes for now. That is monumental for me — I grew up listening to these guys and now I am a member of one of my favorite bands. You can't beat that."
