Faroe Islands-based metallers TÝR are recording their new album at Hansen studios in Ribe, Denmark with producer Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, ABORTED, MERCENARY). For drum tracking on the CD, TÝR has enlisted the services of George Kollias, one of metal's most accomplished drummers, primarily known for his work in NILE, as well as NIGHTFALL.

Kollias comments on the experience: "Hey, TÝR fans, this is George Kollias and I hope you are ALL ready for a crushing new album from TÝR!!! I had the pleasure to record the drums on the new album. A recent announcement on the TÝR Facebook page has confirmed that the band has parted ways with drummer Kári Streymoy. The group stated aboutn the amicable split: "Kári suffered a back injury in 2008, and since then he has had some issues with his drumming. That is the main reason that the co-operation has been problematic for some time now, and we finally decided to part ways. We want to thank Kári for his time in the band. It's been great to have you with us, we wish you the best of luck in the future and we hope you recover fully some day."

TÝR's seventh full-length effort will include the song "The Lay Of Our Love", which is a duet between TÝR vocalist Heri Joensen and Liv Kristine from LEAVES' EYES. Kristine stated about the experience: "Heri already joined LEAVES' EYES at our headliner show in Wacken Open Air 2012. This was an absolute highlight during our live performance. Moreover, I really like his voice and I am grateful for the invitation. A superb track, with inspiring melodies and lyrics, proving the authenticity of TÝR."

Former AFTER FOREVER frontwoman and current NIGHTWISH touring singer Floor Jansen has recruited bassist Henk Vonk for her REVAMP project. He replaces Jaap Melman, who left REVAMP before the group entered the studio to begin recording its second album. The CD was eventually completed with the help of STREAM OF PASSION bassist Johan van Stratum, who filled in on short notice and "did an amazing job to record and edit the bass parts," according to a press release.

States REVAMP: "Henk Vonk will be joining us on stage from now on to seriously rock your asses! He's a great guy and an amazing bass player. Please welcome him warmly!"

Adds Henk: "I'm stoked to have been asked to join the REVAMP ranks. I've known Jord and Ruben for years and have played with other ReVampers before in other projects. This is a great honor and I look forward to see each and everyone of you on tour!"

REVAMP's new album was recorded at SandLane Studio in Rijen, The Netherlands with Joost van den Broek (ex-AFTER FOREVER) and will feature guest choir parts by Marcela Bovio (STREAM OF PASSION) and Daniël de Jongh (TEXTURES). It will be released via Nuclear Blast Records on the following dates:

Says Floor: "Never before in my career I faced a situation like the one we were in with this album. It was a huge challenge because of several reasons. Jansen handled lead-vocal duties on NIGHTWISH's recent North American, South American, Australian and U.K. tours after the group parted ways with Anette Olzon at the end of September 2012.

Las Vegas metallers FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH introduced the first single from their upcoming album, called "Lift Me Up", via a live appearance at the Revolver Golden Gods on May 2 in Los Angeles. The performance featured a special surprise guest — Rob Halford of JUDAS PRIEST — who also appears on the studio version of the track.

The studio version of the song premiered on Monday (May 13) on U.S. radio stations and the official lyric video for the track can now be seen below.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's fourth studio effort will be a double album that the band will release in two installments. The first volume, "The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell Volume 1", will arrive on July 23, with the second half, "The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell Volume 2", to surface sometime later this fall.

Comments FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH singer Ivan Moody: "First and foremost, just to work alongside an icon like Rob Halford, THE Metal God, was absolutely surreal.

"The song itself was originally written about overcoming everyday obstacles and less-than-perfect situations.

"Most of us weren't born with a silver spoon in our mouth, but if life dealt you all the wrong cards, you still have to play.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Zoltan Bathory said, "We came off the road after a couple of great years of touring and were really amped up to write the fourth record . . . (we) found ourselves 12-13 songs deep fairly quick but were still coming up with better and better material so we looked at each other and said, 'OK, why stop there? Let's keep going.' Once we passed the 24th song, we knew we're going to have to do a double album."

Bathory added, "We had this massive amount of music that's very dear to us, possibly the best material this band has ever created. At that point there was no way to decide which songs to leave off the album. So we made the decision to release them all."

The guitarist told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that everyone in FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH is capable of coming up with music. "You know, it's important to write songs," he said. "There was a time when people couldn't be in a band if they couldn't write songs or they couldn't play their instruments. In this band, that's how this band was kind of assembled, like everybody's a top shelf musician. Everybody can really kick ass, and we have a singer who can sing. And then we write songs."

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH will co-headline the 2013 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival this summer alongside ROB ZOMBIE, with the tour kicking off in San Bernardino, California on June 29.

The new double disc follows up 2011's "American Capitalist", the group's third studio album and its third consecutive release to reach gold status for sales of half a million copies or more.

The song was previously covered on a February 2012 episode of the hit television show "Glee". Lzzy Hale told The Pulse Of Radio at the time why the band let it happen. "It's pretty much the strangest thing we've done so far as a band and also, I think, the most exciting," she said. "There's a little bit of controversy because, obviously, 'Glee' is very pop culture, it's very kind of Broadway, and personally I think it's really good for us, only because here's an outlet for us that it's gonna expose us to so many people that would not normally be seeking us out."

Described by QUEENS principal Joshua Homme as "an audio documentary of a manic year," "...Like Clockwork" is the band¹s first full-length collection of all new material since 2007's "Era Vulgaris", as well as its debut release on new label partner Matador. "It actually stemmed from an old roommate of mine, who drives really high-end folks around now, and Elton was in the car listening to THEM CROOKED VULTURES, I guess," he said. "And his assistant was saying, 'Oh, you've got to hear QUEENS, the other band of this guy,' you know. And because my old roommate was driving the car, it was like, 'Do you want to talk to him?' The track that Elton plays on is called "Fairweather Friends".

Although it was initially reported that Dave Grohl played all the drum tracks on the new CD, Grohl only appears on selected songs. The rest of the drums are handled by Joey Castillo and Jon Theodore.

Aalborg, Denmark-based old school death/doom metal act THE VEIN are soon to release their debut, Scouring The Wreckage Of Time, via Shadow Kingdom Records.

In between creating epic doom metal albums, the two ALTAR OF OBLIVION members involved gave birth to this devil child. The Vein is a death/doom metal twist to what Altar Oblivion has done on albums like last year's Grand Gesture Of Defiance; their approach is very epic in nature, but The Vein offers something much darker and heavier. Musically, the style is a classic one; recalling the late 80s early 90's death and black metal. The Vein starts off with a very unique release, a double EP.

Rock act FILTER will release its sixth studio album, "The Sun Comes Out Tonight", on June 4 via Wind-Up Records. The CD was recorded in Los Angeles at Blue Room studios with producer Bob Marlette (BLACK SABBATH, ATREYU, SALIVA). The follow-up to 2010's "The Trouble With Angels" was written and recorded by leader Richard Patrick and guitarist Jonny Radtke, as well as collaborator Marlette. There are also performances from touring members Jeff Friedl and Elias Mallin (drums) and Phil Buckman (bass).

In a 2012 interview with "All Knowing Force", Patrick said about the songwriting process for the new CD, "One of the main things we set out to do, we said let's make a song with all the elements of 'Hey Man Nice Shot', and we sat there and it wrote itself." He added, "We didn't want to write the same bass line or guitar progression, but it had to be an amazing riff; let's start with that. The riff was so good, it's a two-bar pattern, and we throw guitar over it with drums and I scream and the bass line never changes, it's a nonstop bass line that never ever changes."

Regarding the inspiration for the new material, Patrick said, "We were talking about some of the things that are going on in my life; there's been a lot of betrayal from people surrounding me. So we were thinking 'Hey Man Nice Shot', that's something that describes a desperate man's actions and trying to make sense of it, almost like a joke. So we started talking about betrayal and we played around with the words 'Take That Knife Out of My Back' and all of a sudden this song just wrote itself."

On the topic of the overall direction of the new CD, Patrick said, "We have this beautiful record that starts off heavy and mean and then it goes back to the more moody, almost joyful parts of life. For me, the record that we always try to model is the 'Title Of Record' era — that sets the standard in how heavy and how light we can go. We just aspire to make the songs as good and I think the songwriting is superior, we just have to make sure the performances are as desperate and powerful as those crazy takes I did when I was kid."

Death metal pioneers MASTER have inked a deal with German extreme music label FDA Rekotz for the release of the band's 12th full-length album.

Regarding TERROR's new deal with Victory, the band's vocalist, Scott Vogel, previously said: "When I was in high school, I would go to Home Of The Hits Records in Buffalo, New York and every week I would check for new Victory releases.

"Growing up, Victory Records always had the best hardcore bands, period. They had this awesome packaging and vibe that I loved. INTEGRITY, STRIFE, BLOODLET, EARTH CRISIS — it was a fucking amazing time for hardcore. Later, I met [Victory Records founder] Tony [Brummel] when he came to Buffalo to see SNAPCASE. We stayed in contact and made plans for my second band, DESPAIR, but soon after we broke up.

"Victory and my band BURIED ALIVE worked together for years. They also had HATEBREED, BLOOD FOR BLOOD, ALL OUT WAR and REACH THE SKY, all bands I've always respected and held in the highest regard.

"This summer, I hung out with Tony and we had a wild night in Chicago. We talked about the good and bad of hardcore today and just had a blast. No business talk, no nonsense. We were under contract at the time so there wasn't even room for it.

"As we got ready to release 'Live By The Code', TERROR and Century Media debated on how to release the record right and Victory Records seemed like the best fit.

"Tony and I are both insane. We both come from the same place. We both scratch and fight to stay afloat. We still believe in the essence of hardcore and still love WARZONE. This is pretty fucking exciting."

Vogel claims "Live By The Code" "hits harder than 'Keepers Of The Faith'," calling it the "dirtiest, rawest and most hardcore record we've done since 'Lowest Of The Low'."

"TERROR are the biggest hardcore band in the world," said Brummel.

"I have known Scott for twenty years and he has remained true to what he believes in, cherishes and helps keep alive which is first and foremost: hardcore.

European female-fronted metallers FACE OFF have released their first music video entitled 'Fragile' from their debut album, The Colour Of Rain, which was released on February 14th worldwide, via the Canadian Label Maple Metal Records.

Code666 has announced the re-signing of Italian occult metal band ECNEPHIAS. The band just completed the recording of the follow-up to their Inferno album.
Formed in 1996, Ecnephias (Mancan, guitar and vocals; Sicarius, keyboards and piano; Demil, drums; Nikko, guitars; Miguel, bass) have built a reputation for their mix of occult metal, Mediterranean influences and extreme metal.

Melbourne, Australia-based dark rockers THE ETERNAL have posted a 2-minute sample of their new single, 'Beneath These Waves', to be featured on their upcoming album, When The Circle Of Light Begins To Fade.
The cover art for the single (above) was created by talented Romanian photographer Felicia Simion, who the band also worked with on the Under A New Sun album. The single will be available for download on a donation basis from The Eternal's bandcamp page on Monday, June 3rd. It will also premier on True Rock Radio in it's entirety on Sunday June 2nd. Johansson who is a self taught lead guitarist from Chicago, U.S.A has kept busy through the years working on solo projects with members from ANTHRAX, TESTAMENT, DREAM THEATER, HALFORD and FORBIDDEN.

Faroe Islands-based metallers TÝR have issued the following update:

"We regret to inform you that Kári Streymoy and the rest of the band have parted ways.

Kári suffered a back injury in 2008, and since then he has had some issues with his drumming. That is the main reason that the co-operation has been problematic for some time now, and we finally decided to part ways.

We want to thank Kári for his time in the band. It's been great to have you with us, we wish you the best of luck in the future and we hope you recover fully some day.

Brazilian metallers ALMAH have released an official video for the song 'When And Why', taken from their 2011 album, Motion. Check it out below:
Almah, led by former ANGRA singer Eduardo "Edu" Falaschi, are hard at work on their upcoming fourth, as-yet-untitled studio album.

The musicians are currently finishing pre-production of new songs in a home studio of Falaschi, who states: "The new album will be more positive. While Motion (2011) is a fucking heavy, tense and dark album, the new one will be hopeful with fast songs”.
To keep fans updated on the recording process, Almah have launched a series of "making-of" videos. Edu comments: “Hello guys, the new album is almost ready, we are finishing the last songs now! Frontiers Records has announced the digital release of the first single from BLACKMORE'S NIGHT's new album, "Dancer And The Moon", entitled "The Moon Is Shining (Somewhere Over The Sea)". This beautiful new song is "based on an old folk Czech melody which Candice [Night, BLACKMORE'S NIGHT singer and Ritchie's wife] and I thought were very melodic and haunting," says BLACKMORE'S NIGHT guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. "We adapted and arranged to suit more of a rock structure. We also played it as a ballad as it was originally intended. We asked several of our Czech friends what it was called but they couldn't tell us, so it remains a mystery"."

According to NovatoPatch, a house in Novato, California once owned by METALLICA frontman James Hetfield is on the market for $3.4 million.

Hetfield sold the home to the current owners in 2003. It's a 4-bed, 3-bath, 3-half bath house that sits on five acres and features a timber outdoor kitchen and saltwater pool.

Hetfield made headlines in 2008 when his erected a metal fence around his current home in Marin County, California because he was irritated by hikers wrecking his property. The fence cut off the Luiz Ranch Fire Trail which connects the Terra Linda-Sleepy Hollow Divide and Loma Alta open space preserves, both popular destinations for nature enthusiasts.

Maldivian melodic heavy metal band NOTHNEGAL will release its new self-titled EP on July 9 via Season Of Mist. The effort was recorded at Vakaruge Studios in the Maldives with producer Shamheed, with additional production by Matt Hyde (SLIPKNOT, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, AS I LAY DYING) and Paul Reeve (MUSE).

"Nothnegal" will consist of four tracks and will be released exclusively through digital retailers in North America and other parts of the world. The band's first release with new vocalist Affan and new guitarist Chippe (SERENITY DIES), who is currently filling in for longtime NOTHNEGAL guitarist Fufu, the EP's sound is described by NOTHNEGAL as "very raw and organic with minimal electronic effects." Elements such as the "boduberu" (log drums used in the Maldives) and other ambient sounds from the Maldivian environment were gathered for the new album.

Overall, the new music aims to explore the supernatural realm and people who have experienced paranormal encounters and/or have been possessed, offering a glimpse into these beings and false conspiracies. The EP shines a light on the folklore, beliefs and legends of the Maldivian islands and begs the listener to question their own spiritual state and vulnerability. The themes of the EP also include current social issues such as child abuse, corruption and family related problems.

DEEDS OF FLESH's last CD, "Of What's to Come", came out in November 2008 via Unique Leader.

According to Variety, METALLICA's upcoming IMAX 3D movie, "Metallica Through The Never", will be shopped and screened at this year's Cannes film festival, the world's most important cinema showcase, by Nigel Sinclair and Guy East's international sales company Exclusive Media.

"After wading through multiple international distribution options for our film, we are excited to be partnering up with the folks at Exclusive Media, who we feel understand METALLICA and understand our film better than anyone else," METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich said in a statement. "Throw in the cherry-on-top, launching our international sales with a couple of screenings at the film market during a little up-and-coming film festival in Cannes, and it feels like we're off to a pretty rockin' start."

The first image from "Metallica Through The Never" was published by Entertainment Weekly. The photo shows the main character, a METALLICA crew member played by Dane DeHaan, standing against a backdrop of flames and what appears to be an angry mob of fans. In the story, DeHaan is assigned with carrying out a mysterious task for the band as they perform at a local arena. Producer Charlotte Huggins described the film as "a dramatic movie in which a concert takes place."

Huggins added that the two shows filmed for the movie — along with their elaborate stage production — were done by METALLICA solely for the film, explaining, "It took me seven months of working with METALLICA until I grasped that they had created this very complex, very elaborate show just for our film. After we were done, that entire stage got packed up and put away."

In addition to DeHaan and the band, the movie features thousands of the group's fans, with Huggins saying, "Lars, James, Kirk and Robert always consider fans the fifth member of the band. Because it's a 360-degree arena show, the fans are in every frame."
"Metallica Through The Never" will open in limited release on September 27. The film will play for one week exclusively in IMAX theaters in North America before expanding into additional theaters on October 4.

Dane DeHaan's acting credits include "Chronicle", "The Place Beyond The Pines" and 2014's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2".

Speaking to Collider.com, DeHaan stated about "Metallica Through The Never": "It's, in a way, like a 3D concert movie but there's also this narrative that ties together all the footage. It's gonna be, first of all, really rock and roll and really 'METALLICA,' for lack of a better word; they don't hold back at all. But during the concert, I basically go on this trip as a roadie for the band and I pretty much literally have to go through hell and back to take it back to them, and all of this is going on during the concert, so it all ties together really kind of beautifully and uniquely. It's unlike anything that I've ever seen before; it's almost like a concert movie meets 'The Wall' meets METALLICA."

"Metallica Through The Never" is directed by Nimród Antal, who also directed "Vacancy" and "Predators".

Next up for METALLICA is the second edition of its annual Orion Music + More festival, which is scheduled to take place on June 8-9 in Detroit.

The concert sequences for METALLICA's movie were shot last August at two shows in Vancouver, Canada.

Reunited METAL CHURCH — Ronny Munroe on vocals, Kurdt Vanderhoof and Rick Van Zandt on guitars, Steve Unger on bass, and Jeff Plate on drums — recently entered Vanderhoof's English Channel studio in Washingtion to begin work on its comeback album for a late summer/early fall 2013 release via Kurdt's label Body Of Work Recordings. According to Munroe, he has just started laying down vocal tracks on the CD, which he said in a recent interview with Metal Assault would contain material that is "very reminiscent of the old days with some stuff that's very 'now.'" He added: "There's a bit of… I'm not going to say 'prog' because it's not, but there's a couple of elements in there that are a little bit progressive. For the most part, out of this batch of songs, they really sound more reminiscent of the early days than anything we've done before with this lineup. This excites me very much, and I think the fans are really going to dig it."

Regarding the circumstances that led to METAL CHURCH's breakup in 2009, Ronny said: "Well, in a nutshell, without going into a huge and long story here, it was certain aspects of things that had continued to happen to the band throughout its career. Not having the proper management and the proper people in place that were handling us. You know, we ended up taking some shows we shouldn't have taken and that just led to where Kurdt was really getting fed up and then we all kind of got that way. Basically, we figured before we end up disbanding because of other reasons such as maybe starting to fight with one another or whatnot, we decided to go ahead and end it then. We all ended up friends and we wanted to keep it that way. So I won't go into specifics, but we all know what the music industry is like now compared to what it was like back then. We just didn't have the right people in our camp."

Asked what the band is going to do differently this time around to avoid falling into the same trap, Ronny said: "This time around we're going to release this next record on Kurdt's label. Basically, Kurdt and the band and whatnot are taking a lot more control of the situation. Yes, maybe the downloading thing is even worse than 2009, but also on the other hand, if you know what you're doing and you use the Internet correctly, you can actually have success. Kurdt's been doing that with his prog band PRESTO BALLET and whatnot. In this day and age, the time is right to go and try something on your own. If it doesn't work, you can always end up going out and searching for a label or something. We're going to take a shot at it and see what happens and I think we're probably going to have some decent success."
