‘Fanatic’ comes off the band’s new album of the same name which was released today via Legacy Recordings, the catalogue division of Sony Music Entertainment.

The first album of new music from Ann and Nancy Wilson since 2010's Red Velvet Car, Fanatic was recorded in hotel rooms and studios up and down the West Coast, with Grammy-winning producer Ben Mink back at the helm with the Wilson sisters drawing from their own lives and personal experiences as inspiration for their music. 'Dear Old America' comes from memories of a military household and is written from the point of view of their father, a Marine Corps officer, returning from war ("When I get home, I'm going to own this town/Shine this medal/Wear that crown…."); 'Rock Deep (Vancouver)' harkens back to the city where Dreamboat Annie was written; and 'Walkin' Good' (a duet with Vancouver resident Sarah McLachlan) captures the joy of finding new life in a new love.

In an interview with Denmark's Metal Revolution, vocalist John Tardy was asked about OBITUARY's switch from Roadrunner Records to Candlelight Records and the band's current label status. "If it was up to us, we'd probably just be with the same record label all the time," he said. "Just like our music, me, Donald [Tardy, drums] and Trevor, we don't change much on how we do things, we're kinda stuck in the way we do things, but with Roadrunner we kinda felt like they kinda run the game and it got so big and started paying attention to other bands, and it didn't have the time or resources for us. And that's fine, whatever, we'll go some place else."

He continued, "Candlelight was one of the labels we looked at at the time, and they were willing to sign the agreement that we wanted signed. We kinda hung on to what we wanted and they just said yes to it. In those terms, they were good for us, but fact is that they are not a very big record label, and there were lots of things they were supposed to be doing that they wound up not doing.

"At the end of the day, I don't have any hard feelings towards Candlelight. Whatever happened, happened, but at the end of the day, we just don't feel like they did enough for us."

"The guys from Century Media actually came to Florida and visited us, and when we were on that last European tour they invited us over to their office on one of our off days and we hung out with them there. They are really a bunch of great guys, they really are into what they do, they really do like and care for their bands and do everything they can for them, so Century Media is gonna be a really good possibility for the next album of ours."

Regarding OBITUARY's plans for the next studio album, John said, "We took a few months off for the writing purposes and we just wound up doing more fishing and boating and stuff than the writing we were supposed to do, so the album we originally planned on, we really haven't done by now. It isn't anywhere near done. [laughs] The first three songs we finished are just absolutely awesome; I mean, they are just heavy and so cool, I'm really thrilled with the songs we've got. We've got most of the songs general ideas in place, but we do still have a lot of work to do.

"We're really not in any hurry to do it. It's not like we're sitting around saying, 'Oh my god, we didn't get the album done.' It doesn't really matter to us. It gets done when it gets done. After we get back from Europe and take a small break from all the touring, I'm sure we're gonna get back out here and start writing again and hopefully sometime, maybe around festival season, we can have that album finished up and think about some proper release date."

Former NEVERMORE guitarist Jeff Loomis has released a brand-new song, "A Liar's Chain", recorded with his touring band consisting of Joe Nurre (guitar and vocals), Anup Sastry (drums) and Greg Macklin (bass).

Comments Jeff: "'A Liar's Chain' is the first of three songs that I recorded with my band to officially debut online. We started playing it live on our last U.S. run and it seemed to go over really well with fans.

"I had so much fun recording 'Surrender' with Ihsahn [ex-EMPEROR] on vocals for my last solo album that I wanted to do more songs like that.

"Joe Nurre, who has been playing guitar in my band for the last year or so, has a pretty killer death metal voice, so I thought it would be perfect to do some more stuff like this with him as well as the rest of the guys.

"I'm really looking forward to getting over to Europe again. I have so much fun there. The Euroblast tour and festival has some amazing musicians on it, which is going to be really special for me as well, as I love watching and hearing great bands play.

"We're going to be playing 'A Liar's Chain' as well as one other new song with Joe singing. I look forward to seeing everyone there."

Loomis recently took part in a North American tour with THE CONTORTIONIST. The trek kicked off on July 14 in Indianapolis, Indiana and wrapped on August 3.

Loomis's second solo album, "Plains Of Oblivion", sold 2,900 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 179 on The Billboard 200 chart. The effort landed at No. 2 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Plains Of Oblivion" was released on April 10 in North America (one day earlier in Europe) via Century Media Records. The CD was produced by Aaron Smith (7 HORNS 7 EYES) and features cover artwork by Colin Marks of Rain Song Design, who has previously worked with ALL SHALL PERISH, THE END and XERATH.

Rob Zombie has released the first official trailer for his upcoming film "The Lords Of Salem", according to The Pulse Of Radio. The horror film, Zombie's fifth live-action feature, stars his wife Sheri Moon Zombie as a Massachusetts DJ who discovers that playing a mysterious record somehow activates a curse placed on her town by a coven of witches 300 years ago.

Zombie told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that this is the first time he's made a movie with explicitly supernatural overtones. "Yeah, the other ones aren't at all, I don't think," he said. "' [House Of 1000] Corpses' was just this crazy, bloody, you know, 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' thing, and 'Devil's Rejects' was always meant to be sort of like a post-modern Western, and the 'Halloween' films, I tried to make them not supernatural on purpose. So yeah, this will be the first one that's sort of about supernatural things coming back to life. It's good. I'm excited. It's gonna be very different than the other films."

The genuinely creepy trailer offers a barrage of Satanic imagery, including witches burning at the stake, pagan animal masks, bizarre rituals and Sheri Moon Zombie straddling a demonic goat.

The film premiered last month at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was picked up for distribution by Anchor Bay. The company will release it sometime in early 2013.

Zombie's co-headlining "Twins Of Evil" tour with MARILYN MANSON just got underway last weekend and stops on Thursday (October 4) in Topeka, Kansas.

The official lyric video for the song "Dark Money" from Geoff Tate, the legendary QUEENSRŸCHE frontman and one of the most acclaimed vocalists in the history of hard rock and heavy metal, can be seen below. The track comes off his second solo album, "Kings & Thieves", which will be released on November 6 via InsideOut Music.

"My goal with this record was to make a solid rock album," says Tate. "I wanted it to be an album that I could play live that would be both satisfying and fun, because, as a singer, you need to create a show that has a lot of dynamics to it and takes people on a ride."

Tate previously told AnthologySD.com about the musical direction of his forthcoming CD, "Well, it's very different from my last one, for sure. It's a new bunch of people I've been working with to write and record it, so that changes things. When you're working with different people, it really changes the record. This one is really hard rock. The last one was really all over the place with different styles of music and everything, but this one really keeps with the hard rock style. It does it in kind of a different way — more of my way or what I would envision. I guess it's experimental in some ways, while in others it's very traditional. What I tried to do was take traditional rock instrumentation and apply it in kind of a different song structure."

Tate released his first solo CD in 2002 on Sanctuary Records. Self-titled, the LP was a huge departure from the work he had previously done with QUEENSRŸCHE.

"[Sanctuary weren't really a record company. Sanctuary was a money-making machine and they went out of business very quickly," Tate told Oregon Music News earlier this year. "I'm glad to be done with that, actually."

Tate, who was fired from QUEENSRŸCHE in June after fronting the group for three decades, recently sought to prevent his former bandmates from touring and operating under the QUEENSRŸCHE name without him. While ruling against Tate, the presiding judge determined that there was no legal hurdle in Tate also using the name with an all-new lineup of musicians. "I don't see any reason that Mr. Tate can't have the benefit, if he gets other members, of whatever name he uses of using the brand," Superior Court Judge Carol A. Schapira said during the July 13 court hearing. "I think [doing that would be] inherently confusing, although I'm sure the market can get these things sorted out," she added.

On September 2, Tate announced that he was launching his own version of QUEENSRŸCHE with RATT drummer Bobby Blotzer, former QUIET RIOT, OZZY OSBOURNE and WHITESNAKE bassist Rudy Sarzo and former MEGADETH and KING DIAMOND guitarist Glen Drover. Also on board in the new group are returning QUEENSRŸCHE guitarist Kelly Gray — who played with the band from 1998 until 2001 and also produced several of their albums — and keyboardist Randy Gane, who has toured and recorded with QUEENSRŸCHE and Geoff's solo group in the past.

Germany's ALPHA TIGER is currently hard at work on their new studio album, Beneath The Surface, which is set to be released on January 28th worldwide via Century Media Records.

With the album nearly finished, the band comments: "It took us most of June and July to record the album once again under the wings of 'Godi' Hildman in Berlin's Musicflash Studio. Peter Langforth (guitar) had composed the nine new songs and the intro over the course of the previous six months and spent considerable time to put them all on 'tape' over a period of two months prior to entering the studio. To get a little impression about our work in the studio, check out the following studio-video. Mixing and mastering is currently in the final stages. Andreas Hilbert, another sound wizard from Berlin's Musicflash Studio, is about to finish things at the beginning of October."

Assam, India-based old school metallers SHADES OF RETRIBUTION have released their debut music video, for the track 'Byortho'. 'Byortho', which means "failure" in the Assamese language, revolves around the protagonist who is an addict and whose life is a hollow existence.

The video, directed and produced by Abinash Mazumdar and Sibajit Sharma, was shot at the various locations across Duliajan, Assam. Watch below:
Shades Of Retribution has a strong old school base, and is highly influenced by the Assamese culture and the other regions of North-East India. This being said, the band's lyrics in the Assamese language are in context to the never ending quest for survival in this region.

The song 'Byortho' was initially released as a single last year and will be a part of the band's upcoming album, Odho-Poton, which is expected to be released sometime in 2013. The song was also featured in Rock Street Journal’s Northeast India special compilation album.

Ex-NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen-Cabuli says that she has no interest in rejoining her former band — seven years after she was unceremoniously fired from the group via an open letter.

Turunen, who currently resides in Buenos Aires, Argentina with her husband and manager Marcelo Cabuli, tells Finland's Iltalehti that she's grateful to the fans who kindly hope that she will return to NIGHTWISH. However, she insists that there is no chance of that ever happening.

"I would be ready to rejoin NIGHTWISH if all the members of the band and the management team were changed," Turunen-Cabuli joked to Iltalehti.

Since 2005, the soprano has pursued a solo career and is now working her third studio album, which will be released around Christmas. She said she learned of the latest NIGHTWISH singer departure when a journalist from Finland contacted her for a comment.

And what were her initial thoughts about NIGHTWISH and Anette Olzon parting ways?

"Sadly enough, I wasn't surprised by it," Tarja said.

Turunen-Cabuli, who was in NIGHTWISH from 1996 until 2005, says she is really happy with her solo career right now and insists that returning to the band wouldn't bring her the same kind of joy and sense of fulfillment.

Although Turunen-Cabuli has been recording and performing as a solo artist for nearly a decade, she says that she understands the fans who miss the original lineup of NIGHTWISH and are hoping for a reunion.

"No one knows what I went through in the band during those years, so I accept how hard it is for the fans to understand my feelings on this matter," Tarja said.

Marcelo Cabuli and his business partners last year demanded nearly 100,000 euros (approximately $135,000) in defamation damages from the parties behind "Once Upon a Nightwish: The Official Biography 1996-2006". Named in the lawsuit were the publishing house Like Kustannus Oy and the author of the book, Marko "Mape" Ollila. Cabuli and his Brazilian business partners argued that the book includes false accusations and insinuations that have caused them suffering and financial problems.

The book, which was published in Finnish in 2006 and in English three years later, blames Cabuli for the events leading up to Turunen's dramatic expulsion from the band in late 2005.

The court ruled that the book — which criticizes Cabuli on only a few of its 380 pages — did not detrimentally affect his work or reputation in South America. In addition, the court determined that Ollila did not maliciously portray Cabuli in a negative light.

Turunen was fired from NIGHTWISH a year before the book was published.

"Hail Odysseus", a brand new song from U.K. doom metallers MY DYING BRIDE, can be streamed below. The track comes off the band's new album, "A Map Of All Our Failures", which will be released on October 15 in Europe and October 16 in the U.S. via Peaceville Records on CD, double vinyl and special-edition CD/DVD. The effort was recorded and mixed at Futureworks Studios in Manchester, England with the band's longtime production partner Rob "Mags" Magoolagan at the helm.

According to a press release, "a step up from 2009's 'For Lies I Sire' — which set and subsequently met new heights of expectation placed upon the legendary Yorkshire doom troupe — 'A Map Of All Our Failures' is a further voyage into the darkest depths of humanity, religion, folklore, love and death. Considered one of the most intense, important, and influential metal/hardcore bands of all time, CONVERGE's latest album is the most integral album to date in a catalog that's celebrated to an almost religious degree by countless fans of punk, metal and hardcore.

For the first time in years, "All We Love We Leave Behind" is an album that contains no special guests or outside collaborators and every aspect of the music, production and aesthetics of the album was handled by CONVERGE in order to give listeners an unfiltered glimpse into the creative vision of these Boston-based innovators.

Recorded and mixed by guitarist Kurt Ballou at his renowned Godcity Studios in Salem, Massachusetts, "All We Love We Leave Behind" is a no-frills CONVERGE album that sees the band — which also features bassist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller — eschewing fancy production techniques in order to create seventeen songs that work as a cohesive whole yet can also stand on their own. "There's no artificial distortion, triggers, or Auto-Tune on this album." Ballou explains, "It's all organic, it's real sounds that capture the way the band performs live."

"I think we really stepped up our game on this record. The most important thing to this band is that with every album we want to create something that excites us and moves us in some way," explains Bannon. "There are a lot of subtle nuances on this record are really special to us and we definitely hit those individually on this record."

From the classic rock-inflected, guitar tapping madness of "Sadness Comes Home" to the technical acrobatics of "Aimless Arrow" and relentless assault of "Shame In The Way", "All We Love We Leave Behind" is an extremely varied album that has enough sonic shifts to captivate each listener's attention. "It's always been important for us to have a lot of dynamics in our music because no one wants to listen to a million miles an hour all the time," Bannon responds when asked about the melodic mid-tempo groove of a song like "Coral Blue".

"A Final Vestige", a brand new song from DAYLIGHT DIES, can be streamed using the SoundCloud player below. The track comes off the band's new album, "A Frail Becoming", which will be released in North America on October 9 via Candlelight Records. Mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios (OPETH, KATATONIA, DEVIN TOWNSEND), the CD features photography from Jonathan Mehring and packaging design by Agni Kaster.

The release of "A Frail Becoming" silences a nearly four-year writing gap from the quintet.

"'A Frail Becoming' is an album which, at many times during its creation, felt as if it may never be realized," states drummer Jesse Haff. "As each of our lives proceeded down different paths, the challenges and obstacles we faced felt daunting and at times impassible. Out of this struggle, we forged ahead, determined to write the best collection of music we've ever created. Thankfully our perseverance prevailed and 'A Frail Becoming' stands as the most accomplished and varied album of our career."

Recording of "A Frail Becoming" commenced late 2011. Bassist/vocalist Egan O'Rourke coordinated capturing individual performances of Haff, guitarists Barre Gambling and Charley Shackelford, and vocalist Nathan Ellis. By year's end, the raw tracks were ready for Bogren's impressive and critical touches. Haff notes, "While still sounding distinctly DAYLIGHT DIES, each songs stands independently on its own, uncompromisingly representing a reflection of the moment in time they were each born in. DAYLIGHT DIES recently completed work on a video for the song "Dreaming Of Breathing". The clip was shot by Ramon Boutviseth, who also directed "Lies That Bind", a video filmed shortly after the release of 2006's "Dismantling Devotion".

"Rock Me Like The Devil", the new video from the Swedish all-girl hard rock quartet CRUCIFIED BARBARA, can be seen below. The clip was filmed in Gothenburg, Sweden and was directed by 11Frames Productions.

"Rock Me Like The Devil" comes off CRUCIFIED BARBARA's third studio album, "The Midnight Chase", which was released on May 23 in Japan and May 28 in Europe. A North American release followed on July 31 via Nuclear Blast. The CD was recorded at Music-A-Matic Vintage Recording Studio in Gothenberg, Sweden with sound engineer Henryk Lipp and producer Chips Kiesby.

Formed in Stockholm in 1998 by bassist Ida Evileye (now-wife of MESHUGGAH drummer Tomas Haake) and guitarist Klara Force, CRUCIFIED BARBARA plays a fiery brand of rock 'n' roll tinged with metal and lashings of punk, pop, thrash, and whatever else dares to cross their path. No strangers to hard work or success, CRUCIFIED BARBARA's debut single from their 2005 debut, "In Distortion We Trust", climbed to #8 on the Swedish pop chart. They played Australia, toured across Europe opening for MOTÖRHEAD, SEPULTURA, IN FLAMES, and DORO, and earned a prestigious slot alongside BLACK SABBATH, VELVET REVOLVER, and SYSTEM OF A DOWN at the U.K.'s Download festival. Speaking to AOL's Noisecreep, DEFTONES frontman Chino Moreno stated about the songwriting process for "Koi No Yokan", "We were coming out of a tough time, obviously, and our goal was to kind of rebuild what we created over all the years. I felt like we had to prove ourselves. We'd taken so much time between records, had some inner turmoil, and our records were starting to get pieced together versus really being created together, so for us it was a chance to get back to basics. We didn't have an idea of what sort of style we wanted. We just came in fired up and motivated to do something great. It was all very positive. We had more songs than ever, tons of ideas."

A 2-CD best-of collection from Canadian extreme metallers CRYPTOPSY, featuring demo and live recordings as well as three exclusive new tracks (written with Youri Raymond and Eric Langlois), will be released on November 20 via Century Media. Entitlted "The Best Of Us Bleed", the set will come with extensive new liner notes written by Decibel magazine's Adrien Begrand. During an interview with Eddie Trunk on yesterday's (Monday, October 1) edition of the "Eddie Trunk Live" show on SiriusXM satellite radio, DOKKEN mainman Don Dokken revealed that the band's latest album, "Broken Bones", will be its last. Don explained that he wants to move on, spread his musical wings and do something different. He also told Trunk that he would like to make a very "heavy" metal record, featuring a musical direction that the singer described as "a cross between TOOL and SLAYER."

In other news, DOKKEN has parted ways with drummer Mick Brown and has replaced him with Jimmy DeGrasso (MEGADETH, Y&T, ALICE COOPER, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES).

DOKKEN's new video, "Empire", can be seen below. The clip was directed by Devin DeHaven (WHITESNAKE, P.O.D., BUSTA RHYMES) and features a post-apocalyptic take on the band's signature sound of catchy melodies, hot riffs and monster production.

"Empire" comes off DOKKEN's 11th studio album, "Broken Bones", which was released in North America on September 25 via Frontiers Records. Don Dokken stated in a recent interview about the "Broken Bones" album title, "[It] is a metaphor that we all have broken bones, be it from an accident, failed relationship, or a broken heart. Everybody gets wounded as we go through life, but, as they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

Dokken previously described the band's new material as "very uptempo and heavy." He added, "We know our fans like the classic DOKKEN sound, and this is where our new music is headed. It's been a band of brothers doing what we love: 'music.'"

Regarding the new songs' lyrical approach, Dokken said, "I write what comes from the heart, I don't believe in writing music trying to repeat what you've already done. I understand what the fans want but as an artist I see no point in painting the same picture over and over."

The cooperation between Frontiers and DOKKEN started with the European release of the group's "Lightning Strikes Again" CD in 2007. The album marked a return to DOKKEN's signature style with melodic hooklines and blazing guitar riffs that epitomized the band's sound on such records as "Tooth And Nail", "Under Lock And Key", "Back For The Attack" and "Dysfunctional".

"Ex-Wives Of Rock", the new reality series which "chronicles the highs and lows of the glamorous L.A. lives of four women who have led the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll life... and have survived to reinvent themselves," premiered on August 31 on the Canadian network Slice.

The show, which is co-produced by the FEMME FATALE frontwoman Lorraine Lewis, and is brought by the Toronto, Ontario, Canada-based distribution company Tricon Films & Television, follows video vixen Susan Dixon (ex-wife of WARRANT bassist Jerry Dixon); Bobbie Brown (ex-wife of WARRANT frontman Jani Lane); drummer and Tommy Lee's sister, Athena Lee (ex-wife of SCORPIONS drummer James Kottak); and Sharise Neil (ex-wife of MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman Vince Neil). Throughout each episode, you will see all sides of the four ex-wives: the good, the bad and the ugly. We'll witness family drama, messed up love lives and friendships crash and burn. We'll see the glamorous red carpet events, the seedy rock clubs, the fabulous hotel lunches and the quiet dinners at home.

Oklahoma hard rockers HINDER will release their fourth album, "Welcome to The Freakshow", on December 4 via Republic. The CD was co-produced by HINDER drummer Cody Hanson and Marshall Dutton.

According to a press release, "Instead of simply sticking to a tried-and-true formula, the group decided to smash boundaries, experimenting with rock, pop, and even a little country."

The album's first single, "Save Me", was released this week along with a lyric video which can be seen below.
