GHOST: 'Hard Rock Is About Who Has The Biggest Dick'More sex and Satan in tonight's "Rock Show" on Killer Bunny TV from 6 p.m. CET.
Mainly because the nameless ghoul from GHOST, who haunted last week's show with tales of assorted debauchery, features as the subject of "Rock Show"'s main interview tonight. It's going to get dirtier.
The fiendish-looking friar will peel off additional layers to reveal more of himself and his band tonight. "Us being faceless and dressing apart from standard couture was a way for everyone to be able to connect with the concept," the anonymous ghoul offers. "Being from a metal background, we know that it's all about looking the part — the choice of shoes you wear, for some bands, proves the value of the song. It's just a dick-measuring competition. Hard rock is about who has the biggest dick and pop music is about who's got the smallest. I guess we're pretty average. But in order to have a big dick, you have to have it mentally..."

"We had been on tour for eight years, and we decided to take a break from our adventure to dig our heels in at home and write a new record," explains John Baizley, frontman for the band and the artist responsible for BARONESS' now-iconic album art. "We spent the entirety of the past year dedicating ourselves to the new album. Without the break from touring and the time we took to rest and reflect, we would have been entirely unable to write this new record. We have become re-inspired. Now it's time to get back out on the road."
Baizley also recently spoke with Alternative Press regarding the recording of "Yellow & Green".

TESSERACT Seeking New Full-Time Lead VocalistU.K. progressive metallers TESSERACT have parted ways with American vocalist Elliot Coleman (OMNOM, SKY EATS AIRPLANE, ZELLIACK) less than a year after he joined the band as the replacement for Dan Tompkins.
Commented the group: "Sadly, our good buddy Elliot has decided to leave team TESSERACT. We'd like to thank [him] for everything he has done for us. We have loved having him be a part of this beast. He introduced us to a completely different side of our sound, as well the delights of Pho! Things we will always be grateful for. So, as well as continuing to write and record album 2, we are also on the hunt for that special person to be the new full-time TESSERACT vocalist."
In a videotaped statement (see below), Coleman stated about his departure from TESSERACT, "It's a shame, but honestly, it's for the best for everyone involved. I joined the band on very short notice — very short notice. We didn't have much time for any of us to prepare, or even really get to know each other. And thankfully, we all realized that we're all good guys and we all got along very well. They had a lot of stuff that they needed to get done before they could move on to their second album, and that included a bunch of tours… or a few tours, really… I only did, like, three, I think, with them. An EP, the 'Perspective' [acoustic] EP, some radio sessions… So they had to knock all that stuff out, so we had to do that. And then when it actually came time to writing for the new album, that's kind of where we came to a bit of a standstill. And not for any negative reasons; it just was apparent that we weren't really a match for each other. And with the distance And with the distance — with me living in the U.S. and them living in the U.K… Being in a band, for the most part, it works better… Even if you're in different states, at least you're in the same country, so networking with each other is far easier than we were able to work. So, stylistically, there were some differences. And things like that happe. But it's nothing to worry about. They were successful before I joined and they'll be far more successful now that I'm gone. I'm still great friends with all the guys and I'll be seeing them later in England later this month, so…"
Released in May, the five-song "Perspective" EP features "Eden 2.0", acoustic versions of three tracks from TESSERACT's debut album, "One", and a cover version of Jeff Buckley's "Dream Brother". 2

Guitarist ROGER SJUNNESSON Is No Longer A Member Of SONIC SYNDICATEGuitarist Roger Sjunnesson has left Swedish modern metallers SONIC SYNDICATE. His official statement on the matter reads as follows:
"Dear SONIC fans and fellow musicians, I'm no longer a member of the band I founded with my brother Richard ten years ago.
"A couple of weeks ago, SONIC SYNDICATE distributed a press release stating, 'Last year we parted ways with two band members,' and I think this ambiguity requires some clarification. The first member they are alluding [to] is, of course, Richard who left SONIC SYNDICATE in October 2010, and the second is — as some of you already figured out — me. However, it should be noted I was in the band well into this year and that's it.
"I will not go into any details. All I can say is that I never wanted this split to happen, and I did my very best to find an equitable solution.
"I have been in this band since day 1, written many great songs on all SONIC's albums that I am proud of, toured the world and met fans and every band I grew up listening to. This is nothing you give up easily and it feels strange to not be a part of this band anymore. But this is the last word and it's time to move forward.
"I will continue my musical career and song writing in THE UNGUIDED, where you also could find the ex-SONIC SYNDICATE vocalist duo: Richard and Roland [Johansson]. We are currently working on our follow-up album to 'Hell Frost', which was released at the end of last year.
"THE UNGUIDED just finished a mini tour in Germany, Switzerland and Czech Republic.
"To say that the response for this project has been huge would actually be an understatement.
"When we started THE UNGUIDED back in 2010, we had no idea this was going to be as big as it is — and it seems to be growing bigger by the day. We are also getting tons of e-mails everyday from people who discover our music and tell us how happy they are that the founding members of SONIC SYNDICATE are back together again. This is absolutely amazing and makes us even more dedicated to continue our journey with THE UNGUIDED.
"THE UNGUIDED lineup also consists of bassist Henric Carlsson (CIPHER SYSTEM, ex-NIGHTRAGE, ex-DEAD BY APRIL) and our soon-to-be-announced new drummer.
"In the end, I want to thank everybody for my time in SONIC SYNDICATE (especially John for many years of good work together and also for his collaboration with THE UNGUIDED to this point). A special thanks goes out to all the people involved building SONIC SYNDICATE and all the fans I had the chance to meet during the tours. You were simply amazing and I hope at some point our paths cross again."
After an almost year-long hiatus, SONIC SYNDICATE will co-headline the Vekeri Fesztival, set to take place June 21-23 in Hungary. Also scheduled to appear are AMORPHIS, NORTHER, ELUVEITIE and many other acts.
SONIC SYNDICATE's latest album, "We Rule The Night", was released in Europe on August 27, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records. 6

SLIPKNOT, MUSHROOMHEAD Members Perform Together In Minnesota (Video)According to Twin Cities Metal, two members of MUSHROOMHEAD joined SLIPKNOT's Sid Wilson on stage this past Saturday night (June 9) during Sid's DJ set at G.B. Leighton's Pickle Park in Fridley, Minnesota. Both MUSHROOMHEAD and Sid Wilson were booked on the same bill for this one night only.
"Sid took to the stage after MUSHROOMHEAD, and MUSHROOMHEAD declared at one point during their set, 'MUSHROOMHEAD, SLIPKNOT in the same room, acting like decent people," reads a posting on the site. "There is no motherfuckin' beef at all!' As Sid's set started with him alone behind his turntable kit, two members of MUSHROOMHEAD rushed onto the stage to play their 'water drum' kits during the first song."
Video footage of the Sid Wilson/MUSHROOMHEAD performance can be seen below.
According to The Pulse Of Radio, SLIPKNOT and MUSHROOMHEAD have always had beef but SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor said at the end of last year that the groups would be willing to put their issues to rest for a possible tour. During a question-and-answer session on his solo trek, Corey also said that not only is SLIPKNOT/MUSHROOMHEAD tour possible — but he wouldn't mind getting MUDVAYNE and GWAR on board as well.
Corey said, "My problem has never been with that band, my problem was with their fans at the time. I would welcome it. I'd love to do something like that, you know. Especially now. I think it'd beautiful to put something like that together and just see what fucking happens — SLIPKNOT, MUSHROOMHEAD, GWAR and fucking MUDVAYNE. Because if it's one thing I've learned, you don't hold on to stupid shit, you let it go."
Reportedly, there had always been animosity between the two groups because they are both heavy bands who wear masks. However, the real hatred reportedly started in 2002 when SLIPKNOT was playing in Cleveland and fans threw things at the group while on stage. SLIPKNOT believed that MUSHROOMHEAD put the fans up to it.
SLIPKNOT will headline the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival this summer in the U.S., beginning on June 30 in San Bernardino, California. 4

BILLY CORGAN Blasts RADIOHEADAccording to The Pulse Of Radio, SMASHING PUMPKINS frontman Billy Corgan has blasted RADIOHEAD in a new interview with NME, saying that the British band is part of a current cultural view of rock music that he can't stand. Corgan explained, "I can't think of any people outside of Weird Al Yankovic who have both embraced and pissed on rock more than I have . . . there's a level of reverence, but there's also a level of intelligence to even know what to piss on." He added, "Because I'm not pissing on RAINBOW. I'm not pissing on DEEP PURPLE. But I'll piss on fucking RADIOHEAD, because of all this pomposity. This value system that says (RADIOHEAD guitarist) Jonny Greenwood is more valuable than (PURPLE guitarist) Ritchie Blackmore. Not in the world I grew up in."
Corgan added, "Is Ritchie Blackmore a better guitar player than me and Jonny Greenwood? Yes. Have we all made contributions? Yes. I'm not attacking that. I'm attacking the pomposity that says this is more valuable than that. I'm sick of that. I'm so fucking sick of it, and nobody seems to tire of it."
The PUMPKINS founder and sole original member also blasts the political and social impact of rock music in the interview, saying, "The world has never been more dangerous than it is right now, and we have a limp, impotent artistic response to the situation," adding that he should be "celebrated as a radical."
Corgan and the current version of the PUMPKINS release a new studio album, "Oceania", next Tuesday (June 19).
The disc follows up 2007's "Zeitgeist", which was the first PUMPKINS album since the original band dissolved in 2000.
The PUMPKINS will play a private record release show in New York City on Tuesday, and plan to play the Oceania record in its entirety at that gig and other upcoming tour dates. 25

SLAYER's KERRY KING Says Two New Songs Are Fully RecordedMTV's "Alternative Nation" conducted an interview with SLAYER guitarist Kerry King when the band performed in Romania on June 4 in front of more than 3,000 people at Arenele Romane in Bucharest. You can now watch the chat below.
When asked about SLAYER guitarist Jeff Hanneman's current state of health (Jeff in January 2011 contracted necrotizing fasciitis, likely caused by a spider bite, and has been undergoing surgeries, skin grafts and intense rehab since), King said, "Jeff is… If you look at him, he looks fine. But playing the intricate things that we do, he's not ready to do that. He doesn't know if he has the stamina for an hour-and-fifteen-minute set. He can play any of the slower stuff and do it just like the record. But we made a name for ourselves, historically, for being good live, so we had to make the decision and say, 'You've gotta get better before you try to come back. If you come back, make it a special thing, not just an adequate thing.'"
King also spoke about SLAYER's rumored plans to release a two-song EP this summer, possibly to coincide with the band's appearance at the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. "[The two new SLAYER tracks] are done, but they're just not mixed," he said. "It's [like], do you put them out now or do you just wait for the [full-length] record to be done [and include them as part of the final package]? We're gona finish the record September-October. So I, myself, would rather wait, because I don't like to put those two songs out and then include them on the record. In my thinking, if you put those two songs out, then make ten more songs and put those two on that album just as an afterthought. But I feel like I've gotta give people ten new songs. That's why on the last one [2009's 'World Painted Blood'] we did 11, 'cause 'Psychopathy Red' was already out. So [the two new songs are] done. We'll see what the record company proposes. I think they've been talking about an EP, which is kind of a throwback to the '80s, which is really cool, I think. But we'll just have to see."
A SLAYER Bucharest concert photo gallery can be found at Metalhead.ro.
SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo previously stated about the band's new material, "[It sounds like] SLAYER. . . Traditional fans will be pacified and non-traditional fans will be like, 'Again?'"
Speaking to U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine, Kerry described the new SLAYER songs as "really refreshing and energetic." He added, "One thing I can tell you is that the songs are shaping up in the classic SLAYER style. You won't be hearing us doing acoustic stuff. [laughs]"
EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt is filling in for Hanneman on SLAYER's summer tour, which kicked off last month at All Tomorrow's Parties in England.
SLAYER's latest album, "World Painted Blood", sold 41,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 12 on The Billboard 200 chart. 7

Former HAREM SCAREM Singer HARRY HESS To Release New Solo AlbumFrontiers Records has set an August 28 release date (four days earlier in Europe) for the new HESS album entitled "Living In Yesterday".
Best known for spending 17 years as frontman of HAREM SCAREM, one of the best-known and respected melodic hard rock bands to come out of Canada, Harry Hess has been redesigning his career as music producer and songwriter.
After HAREM SCAREM's decision to stop recording albums, the next natural step for Harry was to start working on a solo CD, which he has been expertly crafting little by little in his Toronto studio.
The songs on "Living In Yesterday" are the result of Hess' travels around the globe over the last few years, with stops in Stockholm, Amsterdam, Brussels, Nashville and Germany.
With this CD, Harry intends to go back to certain sounds and atmospheres leaning more towards melodic rock music. "This record is more a continuation of where I left off with HAREM SCAREM," says Harry. "I am a rock singer and it's really hard for me to open up my mouth and sound right doing any other style of music so I really embrace that now and build the production around my vocal style."
The musicians featured on the album include Harry's former bandmates Pete Lesperance, Creighton Doane and Darren Smith, Tommy Denander, Marcie Free (UNRULY CHILD), Howie Simon (JEFF SCOTT SOTO) and Magnus Karlsson (PRIMAL FEAR), among others.
"This whole record was built on the co-writes and on the collaborations I have been doing all around the world the past three years," continues Harry. "There were some great writers involved and it was fun to try new things but still make it work with what I do."
"Living In Yesterday" is a superb slice of melodic rock which features a monster vocal performance from Harry, fabulous songwriting and a crisp production.
"I've never a big fan of my own work, but there are few songs on this record that I feel are some of my best to date," concludes Harry.
"Living In Yesterday" track listing:
01. Living In Yesterday
02. Reach For You
03. It's Over
04. Don't Leave Me
05. What If
06. Nothing Lasts Forever
07. Falling Down
08. I Live For You
09. I Don't Wanna Want You
10. Where To Run

ICARUS WITCH To Release 'Rise' In JulyOn July 3, Cleopatra Records will release the fifth studio record from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based melodic metallers ICARUS WITCH. "Rise" is an epic twelve-track display of songwriting and musicianship from one of the most-watched heavy music bands of the decade. From the driving, anthemic "(We Are) The New Revolution" to the equally commanding title track, "Rise", ICARUS WITCH demonstrates impeccable harmonies, head-spinning dual guitar work, and hammering rhythm. Lyrically, the band is digging deep into themes of control (loss of, and taking it back), empowerment (within and without), and faith (and keeping it). The CD was produced by Dave Watson (MANTIC RITUAL, ARGUS) and mastered by Mark Richardson (BARONESS, THE BLACK KEYS).
Says ICARUS WITCH bassist Jason Myers: "On 'Rise', all restrictions of what we could or could not do were removed. The result is a completely fresh approach, new territory being explored, more diversity, better energy, by far the biggest progression in songwriting in the band's history. This album took courage to create. We certainly didn't take the safe or expected route and know that we're rolling the dice with some bold moves."
Adds drummer Tom Wierzbicky: "This was a very unique album that we put together. There were times where you would be pulling from the other side of the spectrum, sometimes taking yourself out of your comfort zone."
"Rise" track listing:
01. The End
02. (We Are) The New Revolution
03. Rise
04. Asylum Harbour
05. Coming Of The Storm
06. Tragedy
07. Say When
08. Break The Cycle
09. Nothing Is Forever
10. Pray
11. In The Dark
12. Last Call For Living
The "Rise" title track is available for streaming at this location.
By supporting artists as diverse as BLACK SABBATH, PAUL DI'ANNO (as backing band as well), CINDERELLA, TWISTED SISTER, OTEP, DORO, FUEL, and COHEED & CAMBRIA, ICARUS WITCH has earned a large international fan base that consists of hardcore headbangers, hip art rockers, and indie kids.
In August, ICARUS WITCH launches a tour with Earache Records' WHITE WIZZARD and Pure Steel artist WIDOW.
ICARUS WITCH is Christopher Shaner (vocals), Quinn Lukas (guitar), Dave Watson (guitars/keys), Jason Myers (bass), and Tom Wierzbicky (drums).

This light lager will be appreciated by many people, regardless of whether they are beer fanatics or not.
"Motörhead Bastards Lager is a gloriously fresh and fruity beer with a wonderful character of light malt," says Yvonne Wener of Brands For Fans. "It's easy to drink but has a hard rock edge. It's perfect for all those occasions when you feel that craving for a cold beer such as those summer barbecues and picnics, naturally with music pumping at full blast through the loudspeakers."

AEROSMITH Guitarist Says New Album Was A Decade In The MakingAccording to The Pulse Of Radio, AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry admits he's still amazed how the band has managed to keep it together over the past 40 years. Perry explained to the Boston Herald that somehow when it came time to craft the material on the group's upcoming album, "Music From Another Dimension", they were willing to put all of their personal differences aside for the benefit of the music. "I have no idea how it works," he said. "With AEROSMITH, we put one foot in front of the other and hope for the best. . . There are bands that don't talk to each other for five years, and then get back together and go out and play their songs and they turn into the best cover band of their own songs. That's fine and well, but for us it will be always changing. We've been trying to write this record for 10 years, and we finally did."
Steven Tyler, whose decision to take the job as a judge on Fox's "American Idol" caused yet another major rift between his and Perry's relationship, added, "It's the same bottle man. We just corked it. Everything that was cooking inside and fermenting to that just right year just happened to be now. It was the perfect time. . . With great pressure comes great diamonds."
Joe Perry told The Pulse Of Radio that no matter what goes on with AEROSMITH, there's a bond between him and Steven Tyler that is almost unbreakable. "We've been together for so long that in my heart, it's never more than six inches away from Steven's, ever," he said. "Even though we may not talk for a short amount of time or a long amount of time, we've been partners, friends for so long, I always have a feeling deep inside that we're always gonna be together. And that's what makes AEROSMITH as strong as it is."

ARSIS Begins Recording New AlbumVirginia-based melodic tech-death metal masters ARSIS entered Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida on June 7 with producer Mark Lewis (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, WHITECHAPEL, DEVILDRIVER, DEICIDE, SIX FEET UNDER) to begin recording their fifth full-length album for a fall release via Nuclear Blast Records.
"I am so pleased with the way this album is coming together," commented founding guitarist and vocalist James Malone. "I know we all have put ourselves into this recording and I am sure this will be reflected in the end product. Noah [Martin, bass] and I did more pre-production for the album than any other ARSIS recording, Now, I just have to remember all the parts I tracked for the demos."
Martin added: "Shawn's [Priest] in the thick of tracking drums right now. We lost a little bit of time because of a tropical storm but wasn't too detracting. The album art is in the works as well as attaining the rights for the bonus track. If all goes as planned we'll have an seriously-fucking-filthy album to show for the past few months of effort."
Stated Priest: "Seven songs down, and four to go. The drums sound amazing raw, so I can't even imagine how they will sound after Mark impregnates them with his producer juice."
ARSIS's 2010 album, "Starve For The Devil" (Nuclear Blast Records), sold 1,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release, landing at No. 13 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart. 2

Click here to watch how these art enthusiasts have honored this epic work.
While THE DARKNESS gear up for the August 21 release of their third studio album "Hot Cakes" (Wind-up Records), the group — Justin Hawkins (vocals/guitars), Dan Hawkins (guitars/backing vocals), Frankie Poullain (bass) and Ed Graham (drums) — joined forces with the popular comedy site Funny Or Die to film the hilarious clip in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, "Everybody Have A Good Time", the first single off "Hot Cakes", is set to hit radio June 25 and will be available June 26 on iTunes, Amazon Mp3, Spotify and everywhere online. In addition, the new preview track "Every Inch Of You" is available now on iTunes.
Funny or Die is a comedy video web site founded by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's production company, Gary Sanchez Productions. KONGH Signs With AGONIA RECORDSAgonia Records has announced the signing of the doom metal outfit KONGH.
This relatively new band, formed back in 2004, has quickly risen amongst the ranks of Swedish acts worth watching, being nominated to the P3 Guld award (Swedish equivalent of the Grammy Awards) for their debut album. After a successful and intense tour with critically acclaimed YOB in September and October of 2011, KONGH focused on writing their third album. The as-yet-untitled CD is tentatively due in early 2013.
Commented KONGH: "Three years have passed since our last album was released, and we're stoked to announce that the song writing for a whole new album is now finalized. We'll skip the in-depth details for now since it's nearly possible to give a sensible description of your own music, but there's definitely some new twists and dimensions there as well as the traditional KONGH riffage. One thing we can say for sure is that we're very enthusiastic about the songs and we cannot wait to enter the studio! It will happen at the end of the summer, with Karl Daniel Lidén (DOZER, SWITCHBLADE) in the engineering seat. Another thing we're happy about is the new record deal with Agonia Records. We've been in touch with them for well over a year now, and while we've had a few offers from different labels, Agonia was the one which seemed to suit us best. Our expectations are high and we're sure this will turn out great."

Funding for the next FLOTSAM AND JETSAM album is being aided by the PledgeMusic.com project, which encourages fans to contribute funds to the recording of albums and the artists themselves to donate to charity as a part of their fundraising.
FLOTSAM AND JETSAM last summer parted ways with drummer Craig Nielsen and was rejoined by Kelly David Smith.

FOZZY: 'Sin And Bones' Cover Artwork UnveiledFOZZY, the band featuring WWE wrestling superstar Chris Jericho and STUCK MOJO mastermind Rich "The Duke" Ward, has set "Sin And Bones" as the title of the follow-up to 2010's "Chasing The Grail", due on August 14 (one day earlier internationally) via the group's new label, Century Media Records. The cover artwork for the CD can be seen below.
Speaking to U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine, Jericho stated about how the new album title came about, "It's actually pretty funny. It's such a deep title and it can mean a lot of things. But how it really came about was Rich was texting me, saying, 'Man, I've gotta eat something on this tour. I'm all skin and bones.' And 'skin and bones,' he missed the [letter] 'k' and it came out [as] 'sin and bones.' And I showed it to him. I go, 'Dude, what do you think of this as an album title?' And he was like, 'Yeah, it's perfect.'"
In an interview with Sophie K of Total Rock at this year's Download festival, which was held June 8-10 at Donington Park in Leicestershire, United Kingdom, Jericho said about FOZZY's new CD, "Every artist says this, but it's definitely the best thing we've ever done. It kind of takes the FOZZY concept of what we do best, which is very heavy with very melodic choruses and a lot of harmonies. We're just super-proud of it. We worked on it for the last eight months."
He added, "We said we wanna make this like our 'black' album where all the songs kind of fit the same vibe. They're kind of darker lyrically, darker songs, but still catchy and hooky. So I'm really proud of the lyrics that I wrote for this. When I write lyrics, I give them to Rich Ward, and he takes them and writes riffs and songs based around what he feels the tone of the songs are. And I guess the lyrics I wrote are very dark, because it's a very dark record."
When asked if the "darker" vibe of the new album is reflection of personal things that might have gone on in his life, Jericho said, "I don't think so. I've just always been more attuned to that. Like, I write by songtitles. I read somewhere something about somebody woke up with a spider in their mouth. And I was like, 'Spider In My Mouth'. That's like the best title I could ever think of. So I wrote a bunch of lyrics that kind of fit that vibe. So a songtitle will lead… The first single is called 'Sandpaper'. And it's not about a piece of paper that you rub on your face that chafes you, it's just about an abrasive type of a feeling that you might have toward somebody. So it's just stuff like that. But we still sing it with a smile on our faces."
Speaking about some of the individual songs that make up the new FOZZY album, Jericho said, "We've been playing 'Sandpaper' live, and right off the bat people are bobbing their heads. So people can get into it right away, which is cool. I mean, there are so many great songs. There's another song called 'She's My Addiction', which is kind of a more [THE ROLLING] STONES-y, GUNS N' ROSES-type thing, but also very dark. Phil Campbell played a solo for it, from MOTÖRHEAD; he's been a very good friend of the band. There's a song called 'Inside My Head'. There's an 11-minute song about D-Day called 'Storm The Beaches'. 'Blood Happens'… that's a heavy one."
Elaborating further on how the "Spider In My Mouth" songtitle came about, Jericho said, "I read it in a Stephen King book. It said, 'He couldn't have been more disgusted if he woke up with a spider in his mouth. And I was like, 'Ahhh… Dude, how heavy is that?' And I wrote it down in my little songtitles book and about a year or two later, I went back and I looked through and it was like, 'Boom, I could do something with that.' So…"
Ward previously stated about the forthcoming CD, "Although every band says 'this is the best thing we've ever done,' I can honestly say that this new album is going to blow everyone away. It's the epitome of who FOZZY is as a band and will expand upon the ultra-heavy yet super melodic and hooky territory that we've refined for the last 12 years. I have a strong feeling that this will be known as our definitive masterpiece for years to come."
FOZZY last year parted ways with bassist Sean Delson and replaced him with Paul DiLeo (ADRENALINE MOB).
FOZZY released the "Remains Alive & Chasing The Grail" two-CD set on July 18, 2011 via Edel's international rock label earMUSIC.
FOZZY was already on the map as the band with the pro wrestler singer, but "Chasing The Grail" broke them as a proper band. It hit #6 on the U.S. Heatseekers charts and the single "Martyr No More" was a theme song for the WWE Royal Rumble. "Remains Alive" is a 2005 live album (recorded in Australia) that was previously available in digital format only.
"Chasing The Grail" sold around 2,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 6 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200. 1

MANOWAR: 'The Lord Of Steel - Hammer Edition' Cover Artwork UnveiledWith the release of the band's new album, "The Lord Of Steel", only days away, MANOWAR has revealed that the exclusive pre-release of its 12th studio album will be a limited edition with exclusive artwork.
"Metal Hammer has shown a great understanding for MANOWAR and the special bond to our fans. They understand that we always strive to do something special for our Manowarriors and with great enthusiasm they have put a special magazine together," said MANOWAR bassist Joey DeMaio. "The 'Metal Hammer Steel Edition' and 'The Lord Of Steel - Hammer Edition' are a perfect match!"
"The Lord Of Steel - Hammer Edition" will first be released digitally on June 16 on www.thekingdomofsteel.com and in a limited variant "Steel Edition" of Metal Hammer #233 on June 26, exclusively from Metal Hammer U.K.
For the "Metal Hammer Steel Edition" featuring "The Lord Of Steel Hammer Edition", go to this location (international shipping options available).
"The Lord Of Steel" — which was mixed and mastered at Wisseloord Studios in the Netherlands with the help of longtime collaborators, mixing engineer Ronald Prent and Grammy Award-winning mastering engineer Darcy Proper — is blazing with pure power, untamed energy, and a sound as raw and wild as a force of nature. Track titles like "Annihilation" and "Hail, Kill And Die!" set the tone for a record that is packed with surprises. In contrast to the 2007 release "Gods Of War", this new album is not a concept album, yet each song tells a different story, retaining the MANOWAR vision of righteousness, honor and everything MANOWAR fans have come to know and love.
MANOWAR fans should expect to have "their heads completely blown off," said MANOWAR bassist Joey DeMaio in a recent interview, and explained that "this album is all about brutality and raw power!"
"We were talking about a concept album but then got inspired to go in a different direction. This is where we are right now," explained DeMaio. "I've been doing research on getting the best microphones and pre-amps for the guitars. The bass sound is death defying. We've done a lot of work on drums too, giving Donnie [Hamzik, drums] room to stretch out. And Eric [Adams, vocals] will simply sound bigger than life, as always."
"The Lord Of Steel" will include the track "El Gringo", which will also serve as the theme song for the After Dark Action franchise film "El Gringo", an action western starring Scott Adkins ("The Expendables 2", "The Bourne Ultimatum"), Christian Slater and Yvette Yates ("Without Men").
"El Gringo" marks the first time MANOWAR has written a song specifically for a movie. The song depicts the struggle of a hero torn between his moral code and financial gain, and the challenge of being true to oneself and the real values in life — a recurring theme in MANOWAR's music.
"Everyone loves action movies! Our music, along with ass-kicking visuals and a great story, are a perfect match, not to mention a chance to actually see the music come alive on screen," said MANOWAR bassist and composer Joey DeMaio. "'El Gringo' has been a great experience, the team at After Dark Films has been a pleasure to work with, and we are ready for more!" he continued.
When asked about the long gap between MANOWAR's last CD and upcoming effort, DeMaio said, "I know that a lot of people don't wanna wait another five years for a MANOWAR record, but we hope that people are gonna think that it was worth waiting the time. Because, you know, you go to a restaurant and you order dinner, if the waiter walks in the kitchen and comes back out two seconds later and puts the dinner on the table, I really don't know what you're gonna get. Every now and then I like McDonald's, too — it doesn't mean something fast is not good — but we're not a fast-food restaurant with MANOWAR. We think it's quality, so we hope you're gonna feel the same way."
MANOWAR will headline several European festivals this summer, celebrating their new album and the 10th anniversary of one of their most popular records, "Warriors Of The World".

TARJA TURUNEN: 'Act I' CD, DVD, Blu-Ray Due In AugustearMUSIC, the Hamburg, Germany-based rock branch of Edel Group, has set an August 27 release date for "Act I", the new concert CD, DVD and Blu-ray from former NIGHTWISH vocalist Tarja Turunen. The effort was recorded on March 30 and March 31 at Teatro El Círculo in Rosario, Argentina. Each of the two shows featured a different setlist with the exception of five songs, including three tracks from Tarja's time with her previous band ("Nemo", "The Phantom Of The Opera" and "Over The Hills And Far Away").
In other news, Tarja is in pre-production for her third solo album, which is expected to be released sometime next year. She says, "I have 25 songs where to choose the best ones for the album. Some of the musicians are already working on them with me."
Turunen's latest project, HARUS, in December released a CD/DVD/Blu-ray, entitled "In Concert - Live At Sibelius Hall".

MONOLITHE Completes Recording New AlbumFrench doom metallers MONOLITHE have finished recording their third full-length album, "Monolithe III", at Reed Studio, to be released later this year via Debemur Morti Productions in a four-panel digipack CD. The CD will be mixed and mastered this summer by Andrew Guillotin at Hybreed Studio. The artwork was created by Norwegian artist Robert Høyem.
"Monolithe III" will once again consist of a single long track.
Shortly after the release of the "Interlude Premier" EP back in 2007, MONOLITHE started to work on a new full-length album that was supposed to become "Monolithe III". This effort was also supposed to be released in 2008 via Appease Me…/Candlelight Records. However, for many reasons (including issues with Candlelight and mixing troubles), the effort never got completed and released.
In 2011, MONOLITHE decided to revisit and complete the music that had been recorded for the unfinished "Monolithe III" album and release it as a new EP. That became 2012's "Interlude Second", consisting of the tracks "Harmony Of Null Matter" Sections 1 and 2.
The next MONOLITHE album, "Monolithe III", will contain brand new material and will not feature any of the music that had been announced in 2008.
Whereas both EPs lean toward experimentation, "Monolithe III" is a continuation of what had been done with the "Monolithe I" and "Monolithe II" albums.
The "Interlude Premier" (2007) and "Interlude Second" (2012) EPs have been released via the Internet free of charge.

ANTHRAX Performs Cover Of BLACK SABBATH's 'Neon Knights' (Video)Video footage of ANTHRAX performing a cover version of the BLACK SABBATH classic "Neon Knights" this past Monday (June 11) at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards at Indigo2 in London, England can be seen below.
When ANTHRAX was given the choice of playing this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival main stage or the festival's Jägermeister Stage, the band opted to headline the latter, and to do something special for the crowd.
Since vocalist Joey Belladonna rejoined the ANTHRAX lineup two years ago, ANTHRAX has made one of the most impressive comebacks in rock 'n' roll. As one of the "Big Four," the original architects of speed and thrash-metal, ANTHRAX joined METALLICA, SLAYER and MEGADETH during the summer of 2010 on a series of "Big Four" shows in ten European cities, followed by a "Big Four" show outside of Los Angeles at the Coachella site (April 2011), and the big "homecoming" event for the New York-born-and-bred band members at Yankee Stadium last September.
The band released "Worship Music" on September 13, 2011, its first new album in eight years and the first with Belladonna on vocals in twenty years. "Worship Music" debuted at No. 12 on The Billboard 200 chart, received stellar reviews that included being named one of the best albums of the year in countless media outlets. 6

BUTCHER BABIES' 'Slut Metal' Live At U.K.'s DOWNLOAD Festival; Performance, Interview FootageMerlin Alderslade of Metal Hammer TV conducted an interview with BUTCHER BABIES at this year's Download festival, which was held June 8-10 at Donington Park in Leicestershire, United Kingdom. You can now watch the chat below. Also available is footage of BUTCHER BABIES' June 9 performance at the event.
Fronted by Carla Harvey and Heidi Shepherd — former Playboy TV and radio personalities that are rarely seen wearing more than strategically placed electrical tape and a gallon or so of blood — and backed by Henry Flury (AMEN) on lead guitar, Jason Klein (AZDACHAO) on bass, and Chris Warner (SCARS OF TOMORROW) on drums, the BUTCHER BABIES describe their sound as "heavy fucking metal co-fronted by two girls that don't give a shit, and backed by three guys with writing techniques so different that they complement each other. Between our combined influences of thrash, punk, experimental, death, and nu-metal, we've managed to create our own sound that, in a nutshell, is pure sex, blood, and rock and roll."
When asked by Revolver magazine why the BUTCHER BABIES refer to themselves as "slut metal" and what the hell "slut metal" exactly is, Shepherd said, "We can't go balls out — so we go tits out! When girls are perceived as sexual or outspoken, they get labeled sluts, but we embrace those qualities and bring them to our music as well. BUTCHER BABIES is true slut metal: We're doing what we want, how we want."
On the topic of BUTCHER BABIES' goals, Harvey told Revolver, "To bring slut metal to the masses — duh! In all seriousness, we feel like we are just touching on what we are capable of, and we want to continue to grow, get our music out there, and get on the road! There are so many repressed people out there that need to see a show like ours. Hopefully they will take home with them the message that they are able to do everything they want to do regardless of who they are told they are supposed to be."
BUTCHER BABIES' video for the song "Mr. Slowdeath" can be seen below. The track, produced by Mudrock (AVENGED SEVENFOLD, GODSMACK), comes off the band's self-released EP, which is out now.

MASSACRE: 'Condemned To The Shadows' Single Artwork UnveiledResurrected 1990s Florida-based death metallers MASSACRE will release a seven-inch single, "Condemned To The Shadows", in August, in time for the group's appearance at the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany. The single will contain two brand new songs — "Succumb To Rapture" and "Back From Beyond" — that were recorded in February at CGM Studios in Altamonte Springs, Florida with Tim Vazquez at the helm.
The cover artwork for "Condemned To The Shadows" was created by Richard Schouten and can be seen below (pictured with the artist). According to MASSACRE guitarist Frederick "Rick Rozz" DeLillo, "the art will wrap around from front to back of the seven-inch."
MASSACRE played "Succumb To Rapture" for the first time during the group's January 14 headlining concert at The Brass Mug in Tampa, Florida. Video footage of the performance can be seen below (courtesy of Brutal Broadcast).
The Brass Mug show marked the first-ever appearance by MASSACRE's new lineup, which consists of bassist Terry Butler and guitarist Frederick "Rick Rozz" DeLillo alongside the band's latest additions, Mike Mazzonetto (drums; M INC., PAIN PRINCIPLE) and Ed Webb (vocals; DIABOLIC, GENERICHRIST, DESTINED TO RUIN).
MASSACRE's current lineup is as follows:
* Mike Mazzonetto (M INC., PAIN PRINCIPLE) - Drums
* Ed Webb (DIABOLIC, GENERICHRIST, DESTINED TO RUIN) - Vocals
* Frederick "Rick Rozz" DeLillo (MANTAS, DEATH) – Guitar
* Terry Butler (OBITUARY, SIX FEET UNDER, DEATH) – Bass
MASSACRE recently inked a worldwide deal with Century Media Records.
Rozz started his career at the age of 16 when he formed MANTAS with Chuck Schuldiner. The band's "Death By Metal" demo from 1984 was as influential on the early death metal scene as early recordings by POSSESSED (who released their infamous "Death Metal" demo the same year) and HELLHAMMER's 1983 demos. MANTAS changed its name to DEATH later in 1984, followed by the creation of MASSACRE, with Butler joining the group a short time later. After recording and touring as members of DEATH, Rozz and Butler released the MASSACRE death metal cult classic "From Beyond" in 1991, influencing generations of extreme metal bands worldwide.
"From Beyond" was reissued as a limited-edition digipak CD via Earache Records. The long-out-of-print album was made available on CD with four bonus EP tracks and comes housed in a digipak with extended artwork and a fold-out poster.
A different version of MASSACRE — consisting of DENIAL FIEND members Sam Williams (guitar), Curt Beeson (drums; NASTY SAVAGE), along with Terry Butler, Steve Swanson (guitar) and Kam Lee (vocals; MASSACRE, DEATH, MANTAS) — completed a European tour in late 2007.

RECKLESS LOVE: Interview, Performance Footage From U.K.'s DOWNLOAD FestivalHit The Floor magazine conducted an interview with singer Olli Herman (a.k.a. H. Olliver Twisted) of flamboyant Finnish rockers RECKLESS LOVE at this year's Download festival, which was held June 8-10 at Donington Park in Leicestershire, United Kingdom. You can now watch the chat below.
RECKLESS LOVE released a digital single, "On The Radio", in the U.K. on February 20. In addition to the title track, the single includes the song "Push", which was previously unavailable in the U.K. The accompanying video was partially filmed in Los Angeles and is very much in keeping with the band's "glass half full" approach to both music and life in general.
"On The Radio" comes off RECKLESS LOVE's second album, "Animal Attraction", which was released in October 2011 in Finland via Universal Music.
Olli Herman (a.k.a. H. Olliver Twisted) joined CRASHDIET in 2006 as the replacement for David Hellman (a.k.a. Dave Lepard), who committed suicide in January 2006.
Olli left CRASHDIET shortly after the release of the band's second album, "The Unattractive Revolution", in order to focus all his attention on RECKLESS LOVE.
The self-titled debut album from RECKLESS LOVE entered the official chart in the band's home country of Finland at position No. 13.
RECKLESS LOVE plays exceptionally good rock n' roll. With its rousing and joyful attitude, the band offers a true alternative for today's rock scene where everything seems too dull, dark and serious. RECKLESS LOVE's formula is simple; big hard rock just for the fun of it!
The band was founded in 2001 and started to gradually gain underground reputation as an energetic live act. Eight years of small scale touring, two lineup changes and four demos later the band finally took its current form and found its own recognizable sound.

IN THIS MOMENT: 'Blood' Title Track Available For Streaming"Blood", the first single and title track of the third album from Southern California's IN THIS MOMENT, can be streamed using the SoundCloud player below. The song showcases the intense vocals, relentless guitars, deeply personal lyrics and driving rhythms for which the band has come to be known. "Blood" is now available for purchase digitally at all online retailers.
IN THIS MOMENT's fourth album, "Blood", will be released on August 14 via longtime label Century Media Records. The CD was once again produced by Kevin Churko, who has previously worked with OZZY OSBOURNE and FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, among others.
IN THIS MOMENT began work on the new album just a few months following the departures of drummer Jeff Fabb and guitarist Blake Bunzel, who left the band late last year in order to join the backing group of "American Idol" finalist James Durbin. Fabb and Bunzel have since been replaced by Tom Hane (THYATEIRA) and Randy Weitzel (FLATLINE, 3/13, AMERICAN MASSACRE), respectively.
Commented Brink: "There are no words to describe how excited we are... We are on fire with this record. It's by far the most powerful material we have ever written.
"IN THIS MOMENT has gone through some big changes. I admit sometimes change is scary, especially when facing the unknown, but in this case everything has been perfectly meant to be. It's a brave, dark, hard-hitting album that will make you feel dirty inside, but still wanting more."
Added Howorth: "Over the last [few] months, we have undergone some interesting changes within the band. As a result, Maria and I were brought closer together united in our mutual determination to top everything we have previously done with IN THIS MOMENT. It's our fourth album and we definitely have something to prove this time. During the writing process, Maria, Kevin and I are pushing ourselves to make sure every song is something unique and special. I honestly feel this is the most focused and powerful music we have ever created and I am beyond psyched to get it out there for people to hear."
In a recent interview with Australia's Loud magazine, Maria stated about IN THIS MOMENT's new material, "We brought some stuff to the table that we've never done before and it really sounds like something special, something new. I can't explain it; I mean, if you know our old music, when you hear the new stuff you're going to go, 'Holy shit, okay, I totally get it.' But I don't want to give away anything either, it's just unique; it's something new we've brought to the table. We found something special within us; we found this certain thing, so I'm excited for it."
Regarding IN THIS MOMENT's split with Fabb and Bunzel, Brink said, "You know how sometimes, you don't realize sometimes something happening (that's) traumatic, that it can be the most beautiful thing that could have happened to you? It's like one of those situations. It got really stripped back down to me and Chris [Howorth, guitar], and me and Chris started this band together, just me and him, and then it was like everybody came to the table, everybody brings their own influence. I believe it was all meant to be, all of those albums with them. I love them, I wish them the best. But it was almost like this new, with just me and Chris, this new fire, this new strength within me that I just… magical things started happening between what we started creating. And it's just so meant to be; it's meant to be that they moved on and some other things in my life, it's so cool 'cause it's just like this brand new everything and it feels really awesome. And you're going to be able to hear it." 1
