HATEFX Begins Recording New AlbumHATEFX, the Fresno, California-based metal band featuring guitarist Glen Alvelais (FORBIDDEN, TESTAMENT, LD/50), has entered the studio to begin recording its third CD. According to a press release, the follow-up to 2009's "The Holy Frail" will contain "a diverse range of material" and will feature "some interesting musical guests that will be announced at a later time."
Regarding the new music, HATEFX's Chilean frontman G, who was previously a member of DOGMA, stated, "We have been hard at work since the incorporation of Glen to the fold and are very excited with what we are coming up with. It feels like we have such a musical connection that the new material is flowing organically and we will be taking our fair share of risks and branching out to add even more textures to the music. We are using a unique new method to record that has proven to be very effective and the sound should speak for itself, can't wait for everyone to check it out."
Added Glen: "I can't say enough how pumped up I am to do this CD. I get the opportunity to write solos over music that is not only driving but outstanding on its own. There's something about the music of HATEFX that is bringing out the melodic but technical solos out of me. So far the solos that I've written are coming out epic and becoming more and more of a challenge to beat the last one written. I can't wait for people to hear this new material."
The new lineup of HATEFX will make its live debut on April 21 at Fulton 55 in Fresno, California as part of the third anniversary of the popular "Dirty Dowdy" podcast with fellow local acts GROOVEYARD, SPACEHOOKER, FROM THE FALLEN and SIX DAY TRUCE. Free ticket giveaways will be made available via 104.1 New Rock radio station and the "Dirty Dowdy" podcast. HATEFX will be playing new material at this event.
A teaser video featuring audio of a new song can be seen below.
Alvelais brings years of experience to the up-and-coming metal heavy hitters, who encompass a distinctive approach to metal, adding sonic textures to their mix and a light/FX-filled live show. They have become one of the strongest Central Valley outfits, having previously shared the stage with such national acts as EXODUS, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and STATIC-X, among others.

I LEGION's Debut To Feature Members Of SOILWORK, THREAT SIGNAL MembersI LEGION's debut album, "Beyond Darkness", will feature 13 tracks, produced and mixed by former MUTINY WITHIN singer Chris Clancy.
I LEGION is the musical work of Frederic Riverin, who shaped and wrote all the songs in fall 2011 at his home in Quebec. Helped by friend Clancy, he crafted these recordings into a melodic metal machine. Metal monsters Björn Strid (SOILWORK), Jon Howard (THREAT SIGNAL) and Chris himself took the vocal duties and put their melodies and talent over the 12 songs of the album.
I LEGION also features modern guitar heroes Peter Wichers (SOILWORK), Angel Vivaldi, and Brandon Jacobs (MUTINY WITHIN) on the lead guitars for tasteful and melodic solos.
All these musicians helped Frederic to create his own album: alone, but with a legion behind him.

ZATOKREV Signs With CANDLELIGHT RECORDSCandlelight Records has announced the signing of ZATOKREV, one of the most forward-thinking and crushing bands in extreme music at the moment. The group's new full-length album, "The Bat, The Wheel And A Long Road To Nowhere", will be released later in the year. The CD was recorded at the Rec Studio in Geneva and was mixed, mastered and co-produced by Raphaël Bovey, also known as drummer from the band KRUGER.
ZATOKREV, hailing from Basel in Switzerland, was founded by Silvio Spadino (drums), Marco Grementieri (bass/samples) and Frederyk Rotter (guitar/vocals) in April 2002 to deliver a heavy load of dragging metal.
According to a press release, "The Bat, The Wheel And A Long Road To Nowhere" "contains elements from sludge, stoner, black metal, prog-metal, psychedelic rock, post-hardcore and shows more dynamics in song writing, instrumentation and a stronger variety of vocals."
Commented Frederyk Rotter: "We're very proud to be signed on Candlelight Records. Since years it's one of our favorite labels. We're looking forward to a good collaboration and to bring ZATOKREV forward with Candlelight's help!"
A new ZATOKREV song called "Goddamn Lights" can be streamed using the SoundCloud player below.

QUIET RIOT: First Performance Footage With New SingerA QUIET RIOT EPK (Electronic Press Kit) featuring video footage of the band's first-ever performance with new singer Scott Vokoun — which took place on March 28 at Westworld in Scottsdale, Arizona — can be seen below.
QUIET RIOT played several shows in early February with ex-MONTROSE vocalist Keith St. John following the departure of Mark Huff.
Commented QUIET RIOT drummer Frankie Banali: "I spoke several weeks ago with my friend and vocalist Keith St. John to once again thank him for lending his talents to QUIET RIOT during our time of need. Keith stepped in on very short notice so that QUIET RIOT could meet our live dates in February. Keith knocked it out of the park with great vocals and performances and we are forever in his debt."
QUIET RIOT released a statement on January 12 announcing that it had split with Mark Huff. A short time later, Mark posted a message on his Facebook page, stating, "As I sit in hospital… wait for my brain surgery… I have been let go from QUIET RIOT. And nobody's had balls to tell it to my face. Interesting … the rock 'n' roll business. I have to read the news in a post that's not even directed to me?… WTF?" He continued, "Let me tell all my friends… don't count me out… Watch what happens. It's obvious what I ever meant to this situation… I deserve better treatment… Don't worry about me… Worry about your own bad selves. And I am gonna take the high road… I have so much shit I could speak… Stay tuned, my friends."
Huff's message was followed by a Facebook post from Banali, who wrote, "With regards to Mark Huff: My policy has always been not to air out the dirty laundry in public. That policy remains the same even in light of those who chose to make accusations. The fact is that Mr. Huff's medical condition had nothing to do with the decision that was made, though it is unfortunate that it comes at such a time. His wife assured me that Mark would be home this week, and as legal protocol dictated, a certified letter was sent informing Mark of the decision that was made and why it was made. This was days ago. The content of that letter is a private matter unless Mr. Huff decides to make the reason for his dismissal made public, which I believe would be counterproductive for him. I will not go tit for tat with this issue. If certain persons wish to villainize me, that is their prerogative."
QUIET RIOT's current touring lineup is as follows:
Scott Vokoun - Vocals
Frankie Banali - Drums
Chuck Wright - Bass
Alex Grossi - Guitar
QUIET RIOT singer Kevin DuBrow died in November 2007 of an accidental cocaine overdose. He was 52 years old.
QUIET RIOT was perhaps best known for its 1983 cover of "Cum On Feel The Noize". The song, featuring DuBrow's powerful, gravelly voice, appeared on the band's album "Metal Health" — which was the first by a metal band to reach No. 1 on the Billboard chart.

CRUCIFIED BARBARA: Performance Footage Of New Single AvailableQuality video footage of CRUCIFIED BARBARA's April 4 performance at La Dynamo in Toulouse, France can be seen below.
CRUCIFIED BARBARA's third studio album, "The Midnight Chase", will be released on May 23 in Japan and May 28 in Europe. A North American release via Nuclear Blast is expected this summer. The CD was recorded at Music-A-Matic Vintage Recording Studio in Gothenberg, Sweden with sound engineer Henryk Lipp and producer Chips Kiesby.
Commented guitarist/vocalist Mia Coldheart: "I've never felt this good about anything we've made before. I'm so damn proud of the new songs and the sound is better than ever. We can't wait to go on tour and perform them live!"
Formed in Stockholm in 1998 by bassist Ida Evileye (now-wife of MESHUGGAH drummer Tomas Haake) and guitarist Klara Force, CRUCIFIED BARBARA plays a fiery brand of rock 'n' roll tinged with metal and lashings of punk, pop, thrash, and whatever else dares to cross their path. Ida Evileye dominates her trusty Sandberg bass, Klara Force rocks steady on her '76 Gibson Explorer, Mia Coldheart belts out her unapologetic vocals while riffing all over her Gibson Gothic Flying V, and Nicki Wicked pounds on her hot pink sparkle Yamaha Maple drum kit until you're splayed across the floor with a bull's-eye knock-out punch that'll make you spit your teeth out. Now you know what happens when MOTÖRHEAD mates with THE RUNAWAYS.
No strangers to hard work or success, CRUCIFIED BARBARA's debut single from their 2005 debut, "In Distortion We Trust", climbed to #8 on the Swedish pop chart. They played Australia, toured across Europe opening for MOTÖRHEAD, SEPULTURA, IN FLAMES, and DORO, and earned a prestigious slot alongside BLACK SABBATH, VELVET REVOLVER, and SYSTEM OF A DOWN at the U.K.'s Download festival. With all that touring, it would be four years before the band got around to recording their second album, 2009's "'Til Death Do Us Party". Next thing you know, there they were on national television performing at the 2010 edition of Melodifestivalen, the Swedish national final for the Eurovision Song Contest.
So how did they get their name? The band members attended Denmark's legendary Roskilde Festival and came across something very unexpected in a nearby forest: a blow-up doll (generically called "Barbara" throughout Sweden) attached to a crucifix. And no, they didn't identify with the victim, they claimed the power of the aggressor right on the spot and have never looked back.

DEE SNIDER: Another Song From 'Broadway' Album Available For StreamingDee Snider, the unmistakable front-man of the rock band TWISTED SISTER, will release a new studio album, "Dee Does Broadway", on May 8 via Razor & Tie. The CD features Dee's powerful voice and theatrical persona as he exudes his rock ' n' roll take on several Broadway classics. The new album will coincide with the release of his first-ever autobiography, "Shut Up And Give Me The Mic" (Gallery Books).
"Dee Does Broadway" features several special guest stars, including Broadway and television icon Bebe Neuwirth on the DAMN YANKEES song "Whatever Lola Wants", Broadway legend Patti LuPone on a "West Side Story" medley "Tonight/Somewhere", pop icon Cyndi Lauper on SWEET CHARITY's "Big Spender", Clay Aiken of "American Idol" on the GUYS AND DOLLS classic "Luck Be a Lady Tonight", the stars of the Broadway hit musical "Priscilla Queen Of The Desert" (Will Swenson, Tony Sheldon, and Nick Adams) on SOUTH PACIFIC's "There Is Nothin' Like A Dame", Mark Wood of the TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA playing violin on the "Phantom Of The Opera" ballad "Music Of The Night", as well a special rendition of "The Joint Is Jumpin" from "Ain't Misbehavin'" with Dee's oldest son, Jesse "Blaze" Snider. Songs are also featured from classic Broadway shows including "Cabaret", "Chicago", "The Threepenny Opera", "Anything Goes" and "Sweeney Todd".
"Dee Does Broadway" was spawned from a number of voicemails exchanged featuring "Broadway tunes" sung as messages between Dee Snider and Alice Cooper in 2009 and Dee's 2010 Broadway run in the Broadway rock musical "Rock Of Ages". Inspired to take this musical journey, the classically trained countertenor (who sang with his high school choir and always loud as hell) Snider enlisted producers Bob Kulick and Brett Chassen (whom Dee worked with on the metalized Frank Sinatra tribute called "Sin-atra"). The album was mixed by the legendary Ric Wake and Gustavo Celis, and features the incredible orchestrations and playing by the renowned composer/arranger Doug Katsaros and the bass guitar playing of one of rock's prolific players, the legendary Rudy Sarzo.
Dee Snider explains the process: "Over the past year, I have worked closely with my team and collaborators picking from decades of musical hits with only two rules: The song had to speak to me as a singer on some level, and it could not be a rock song to begin with. No 'Jesus Christ Superstar', 'Grease', 'Hair', 'Rent', 'Rocky Horror', etc. What would be the challenge in that?" He continues, "There are many who think doing an album of rocked out show tunes is pure insanity on my part. Apparently, they haven't seen any photos of me from the '70s and '80s. Could I have been in a more theatrical band? Ever since I was a kid, I'd heard the real power inherent in a lot of songs from musicals and this record gives me the chance to show it".
"Dee Does Broadway" track listing:
01. Cabaret
02. The Ballad Of Sweeney Todd
03. Big Spender (with Cyndi Lauper)
04. Mack The Knife
05. Whatever Lola Wants (with Bebe Neuwirth)
06. Music Of The Night (with guest violinist Mark Wood)
07. The Joint Is Jumpin' (with Jesse Blaze Snider)
08. Luck Be A Lady (with Clay Aiken)
09. I Get A Kick Out Of You
10. There Is Nothin' Like A Dame (with the stars of "Priscilla Queen Of The Desert": Will Swenson, Tony Sheldon and Nick Adams)
11. Razzle Dazzle
12. Tonight/Somewhere (with Patti LuPone)
The song "I Get A Kick Out Of You" is now available for streaming on Dee's official Facebook page.

KING'S X Drummer: 'When I'm Back, I'll Be Better Than Ever'Jerry Gaskill, drummer for legendary rockers KING'S X, was released from the hospital on March 21 — more than three weeks after he suffered a heart attack and underwent an emergency operation.
A brand new video message from Gaskill can be seen below.
To help Gaskill pay his medical bills, KING'S X is offering a special MP3 download-only title, "Burning Down Boston: Live at The Channel 6.12.91". This release was edited and mastered from a stereo FOH (front-of-house) recording. While the audio is far from perfect sonically, the performance documents yet another magical night on tour while supporting the "Faith Hope Love" album. The band expands many of the cuts featured here, including performances that are blistering ("Moanjam"), heavy and funk-laden ("We Are Finding Who We Are"), beautiful ("The Burning Down"), and truly transcendental ("Over My Head"). A few songs from the show were omitted due to tape damage. However, three bonus tracks have been included (an additional 15 minutes) from the same show that were not presented in the main track listing.
In addition to the gift with this download, anyone who wants to further make a personal gift to Jerry to help him with his medical bills can send a check made out to Jerry Gaskill. Mail it to: Jerry Gaskill, c/o World Entertainment Inc., P.O. Box 3095, Sea Bright, NJ 07760. One hundred percent of your gift goes to Jerry Gaskill to help him defray his medical expenses. Jerry Gaskill is an individual and not a charity. Any funds given to him would be a gift and no further tax deduction for charitable contributions would be coming from him.

JOHN CORABI: Song From Upcoming Unplugged Album Featured On New CD SamplerJohn Corabi — former lead singer of MÖTLEY CRÜE, THE SCREAM and UNION — has released a limited-edition two-song CD sampler at this location. The disc features John's last live performance with THE SCREAM singing "Father, Mother, Son" as well as the track "If I Never Get To Say Goodbye..." from his upcoming unplugged CD.
Corabi's acoustic album will include "old songs, new songs and just a sample of things to come." Tentatively due in the spring, the set will contain two versions of the MÖTLEY CRÜE's song "Hooligan's Holiday" — a stripped-back acoustic version and a more elaborate but still acoustic-based band arrangement — as well as a version of the CRÜE's "Loveshine" and even a song by Corabi's first band, ANGORA, which was originally produced by Steve Vai.
Eddie Trunk, co-host of VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show", conducted an interview Corabi during the new metal cruise Monsters Of Rock - The Voyage, which set sail on February 25 and returned three days later via Ft. Lauderdale / Bahamas / Key West. You can now watch the chat below.
Corabi originally joined CRÜE in 1992 as the replacement for the group's original singer, Vince Neil, who was fired due to personal differences. With Corabi on vocals, MÖTLEY CRÜE released one critically acclaimed full-length CD, which ended up being a commercial failure in the wake of grunge despite a Top-Ten placing on the album chart. When Neil returned to the fold in 1997, Corabi was left on his own and formed the band UNION with ex-KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick.

BELPHEGOR Taps Producer ERIK RUTAN For New AlbumAustrian blackened death metal outfit BELPHEGOR will enter Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida on May 29 with producer Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, MORBID ANGEL, CANNIBAL CORPSE) to begin recording its as-yet-untitled new album for a late 2012 release via Nuclear Blast Records.
Commented guitarist/vocalist Helmuth Lehner: "Around 2006 I have contact Erik the first time, I guess. We talked about the producing of the 'Bondage Goat Zombie' album, but he wasn’t available. This time, we have to do it! Our sound, attitude… or let's say trademark, is a symbiosis of all extremities that came out of this glorious genre… Diabolical black death metal.
"Since February 2012, we rehearse and write hard on nine shredding sound collages.
"To record chapter X with Erik is perfect, since he exactly know what we need and how we get this shit done.
"The thing is, the new compositions are full of intensity and pure aggression. The combination of European metal coldness, atmosphere and sickest elements crossed with an American brutal sound is the master plan. This experiment is going to be ultra-sick!
"I dig to work with motivated, possessed and enthusiastic artists, to keep the fire burning, in all related things (producers, musicians, etc.) No rules, all is permitted. This is the main reason why BELPHEGOR survived almost 20 years."
Added Rutan: "I am very excited to be recording and mixing the new BELPHEGOR album at Mana. After many discussions with Helmuth and hearing some clips of new material, I know that the band is very focused and determined on making a harmoniously evil extreme masterpiece. We shall make one beast of an album that the fans have come to expect from BELPHEGOR!"
Several photos from the rehearsal sessions can be found at this location.
BELPHEGOR's last album, "Blood Magick Necromance", was released in January 2011 in Europe and February 2011 in the U.S. via Nuclear Blast Records. The album was produced by Peter Tägtgren (IMMORTAL, CELTIC FROST, HYPOCRISY, DIMMU BORGIR) at his Abyss Studios in Pärlby, Sweden and mastered by Jonas Kjellgren. 7

Various Artist about Jim MarshallFormer KISS and current GRAND FUNK RAILROAD guitarist Bruce Kulick has released the following statement regarding the passing of Jim Marshall, the creator of the Marshall amplifier:
"The loss of Jim Marshall today saddens me greatly. My love of Marshall amps and the iconic company he created will always be a part of my life. I will never forget the clinic tour I did with him back in the early '90s promoting the 900 series amps, which I still use. His charm and grace in the English way made him unique to me. Knowing all the lives he changed with his products, and the artists he worked with through the years, made him a giant in the industry of the music business. I know Jim will never be forgotten, and that the legacy of his amps will carry on for generations to come. RIP, Jim Marshall."
Fomer GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash tweeted: "The news of Jim Marshall passing is deeply saddening. R & R will never be the same w/out him. But, his amps will live on FOREVER!"
American blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa also showed his appreciation on Twitter: "A very sad day for the Marshall family. My thoughts and prayers go out to Paul and his family. Rest in Peace Jim Marshall OBE."
MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson wrote: "Rest in peace to Marshall Amps founder Jim Marshall. Had the pleasure to meet him in 2001 at the factory in Milton Keynes, England. A gentle soul who carved out the loudest sound in rock 'n' roll."
MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx: "R.I.P. Jim Marshall. You were responsible for some of the greatest audio moments in music's history and 50% of all our hearing loss."
SKINDRED guitarist Mikey Demus offered his respects, tweeting: "RIP Jim Marshall, The Father Of Loud. Without his contribution to music, god knows what we'd all be listening to." 1

GRAND MAGUS Announces New DrummerDue to family obligations and work commitments, drummer Sebastian "Seb" Sippola has left Swedish heavy rockers GRAND MAGUS. The new man behind the kit is Ludwig "Ludde" Witt (SPIRITUAL BEGGARS, FIREBIRD, SHINING).
Commented Sebastian: "It took a load off my mind that Ludwig was chosen because he is a friend of mine. By the way, honestly and objective: In my opinion Ludwig is the best replacement for me because he already knows J.B. [guitarist/vocalist Janne Christoffersson] and Fox [Skinner, bass] and he exactly knows which demands the drumming at GRAND MAGUS will make on him. They will be a great team and I'm really looking forward to see them live — though I have no idea, how my reaction will be in this situation."
Added J.B.: "When Sebastian told us that he wanted to concentrate on his family and thus leave the band, it was a tough blow. How to move forward? I knew only one possible drummer who had the combination of old school rock drumming and metal chops like Sebastian and that's Ludwig Witt who I knew through my tenure in SPIRITUAL BEGGARS. Me and Ludwig have stayed in touch after I left BEGGARS and I knew he was busy with other bands, so I couldn't really hope that he would be available. But like it was destined to happen, Ludwig agreed to do the album and join the band. It's weird, because just like it felt completely natural when Sebastian joined, it feels like Ludwig totally belongs in MAGUS! Ludwig is an awesome drummer and we are super-excited to have him on board. We'll pound out the metal together starting end of May. Prepare for the HUNT!"
Stated Ludwig: "I'm very happy to announce that I, Ludwig Witt, am the new drummer of GRAND MAGUS. I've known J.B. for over ten years and I've been a fan of GRAND MAGUS since day one so it's great to be on board. At the moment I'm learning all the classic GRAND MAGUS songs and I get a huge buzz from playing along to songs like 'Kingslayer' and 'Like The Oar Strikes The Water' so I can't wait to get out and play the stuff live together with the new stuff from our new album the hunt. See you on the road."
GRAND MAGUS will release its new album, "The Hunt", in Europe on May 25 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD's cover artwork was created by Arik Roper (CATHEDRAL, HIGH ON FIRE, SLEEP), who also handled the art on GRAND MAGUS' "Iron Will" LP.
Commented GRAND MAGUS frontman Janne "J.B." Christoffersson: "Arik Roper is a super-talented artist and we've had the pleasure of working with him before when he did the cover art for our album 'Iron Will'. This time around with the overall feel and lyrical themes of our new album 'The Hunt', Arik was the perfect choice once again. We basicallly just gave him the title and he created one of the most haunting and suggestive images ever seen. He totally nailed what the album is all about. To say we are pleased is a gigantic understatement! This piece of art will stand the test of time and become classic."
GRAND MAGUS's last album, "Hammer Of The North", was released digitally in North America in January 2011 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded at 301 studios outside of Stockholm and features artwork by Necrolord.
During the band's 10-year history, GRAND MAGUS released two demos, one split EP and five full-length albums, and has received overwhelmingly positive reviews throughout. Their fourth opus, "Iron Will", was voted "Album of The Month" in the German Metal Hammer and Rock Hard magazines.
Drawing hefty influences from the hand-on-heart grandeur of the NWOBHM and the inspirational mythology of their forbears, GRAND MAGUS is steeped in pre-Christian tales of triumph, vengeance, betrayal, wisdom and death. But GRAND MAGUS also stands for energetic live performances, as seen at European festivals such as Sweden Rock, Hellfest, Wacken, Summer Breeze and on tour in Europe with bands like AT THE GATES, CATHEDRAL, CANDLEMASS, TYRANT, SERPENTCULT and ELECTRIC WIZARD. 1

BONDED BY BLOOD: New Album Title, Cover Artwork UnveiledCalifornia metallers BONDED BY BLOOD have set "The Aftermath" as the title of their third studio album, due on July3 in North America (one day earlier internationally) via Earache Records. The CD was tracked at at Darth Mader Music in Los Angeles with producer and former MACHINE HEAD/SOULFLY guitarist Logan Mader (DEVILDRIVER, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH).
Commented BONDED BY BLOOD drummer Carlos Regalado: "We worked so hard on this album for a solid year and we accomplished what we were aiming for.
"[The album title has] got a simple meaning behind it — the aftermath of all the shit we've been through in the past couple years: member changes, unexpected problems on the road, personal issues, a lot of obstacles that almost ended BONDED BY BLOOD.
"This is what we love, this band is everything to us, we weren't going to let other people dictate and destroy our aspirations and dreams.
"'The Aftermath' cover art is just straight up badass, it shows what society is doing wrong and how things need to change, or mother earth will fuck you up."
BONDED BY BLOOD is gearing up for a North American tour with KITTIE, BLACKGUARD and THE AGONIST which will kick off on April 10 in Poughkeepsie, New York.
BONDED BY BLOOD's second album, 2010's "Exiled To Earth", sold around 600 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 86 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200. 1

"Mnemesis" Track List:
01. Transcend 4:06
02. Valves 4:04
03. Junkies On The Storm 3:41
04. I've Been You 4:10

06. Mnemesis 4:40
07. There's No Tomorrow 5:57

NERVECELL: 'Shunq (To The Despaired...King Of Darkness)' Video Released"Shunq (To The Despaired… King Of Darkness)", the new video from the Dubai-based death/thrash metal band NERVECELL, can be seen below. The song features Karl Sanders of NILE on guest vocals. The clip was directed by Shane De Almeida and edited by Ahmad Al Sharif in the city of Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates.
"Shunq (To The Despaired… King Of Darkness)" comes off NERVECELL's latest album, "Psychogenocide", which was released March 31, 2011 in the Middle East via Spellbind Records; April 29, 2011 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland; and on May 2, 2011 in the rest of Europe through Lifeforce Records.
Commented NERVECELL: "This particular song is special to the band as it will mark the first extreme metal track ever to include both Arabic lyrics mixed in with English lyrics, and who better else to have come on board and collaborate on this theme with us than the legendary Karl Sanders!
"The word 'Shunq' in Arabic has two meanings: to choke or to be hung by the neck. The song consists mainly of ideas and knowledge gathered from sources that speak about Lucifer and the demons that serve him. The song 'Shunq (To The Despaired…King Of Darkness)' speaks about the battle of us humans and these demons in reality, in the end Satan himself brought forth to justice."
The "Psychogenocide" cover artwork was designed by Björn Goosses of Killustrations (ABORTED, SEVERE TORTURE, ZYKLON) and is a concept which NERVECELL has been working on for quite a while. The band is said to be "extremely proud of how it has turned out" as it "perfectly matches the aggression and musical direction of the new album."

GODSMACK's Cover Of JOE WALSH's 'Rocky Mountain Way' Available For StreamingGODSMACK's cover of JOE WALSH's "Rocky Mountain Way" can be streamed at Banana1015.com. The song will be featured on GODSMACK's first-ever concert album, "Live And Inspired", which will also contain a bonus disc of four newly recorded cover songs. According to Loudwire, the disc will contain 13 tunes that were all recorded at a single show at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit on the quartet's last tour. Singer Sully Erna told the site, "We were going to do a compilation with this song from Vegas, this song is from Chicago, this one is from Dallas, but I don't know, the more we listened to the Detroit show, the more we kind of figured out that it was a really good show for us."
Erna also said that GODSMACK has nothing but love for the Motor City, explaining, "It's always a great audience, as any rock band will tell you. Playing there is a special kind of fanbase that they have there, they live up to their reputation. They're a great rock audience."
The Pulse Of Radio asked Erna if GODSMACK would ever consider doing what a lot of acts have been doing lately and playing one or more of their five studio albums from front to back in concert. "It seems like a lot of bands would come out and do that when they're celebrating like their 25th anniversary on the record and stuff (laughs) — I'm old, but we're not that old yet," he said. "We're getting there, though. It's not gonna be but another minute before we go like, 'Wow, really, 20 years? Okay. . . '"
GODSMACK and STAIND will begin a co-headlining run of live dates, called the Mass Chaos Tour, on April 13 in Augusta, Georgia. The bill also features HALESTORM.
Erna himself played some solo dates at the end of March and in early April to promote "Avalon Live", his upcoming live DVD/Blu-ray that features the singer and an eight-piece band performing songs from his 2010 solo debut, "Avalon". 1

BIOHAZARD's BILLY GRAZIADEI To Guest On New STRIFE AlbumBIOHAZARD's Billy Graziadei is the latest guest musician to appear on the forthcoming full-length album from the Los Angeles hardcore band STRIFE. He tracked a verse at his Firewater Studios in Los Angeles for the song entitled "Never Look Back".
STRIFE enlisted longtime friend Igor Cavalera (SEPULTURA, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY) to play drums on the CD, which is being produced by TERROR drummer Nick Jett (TAKE OFFENSE, LIONHEART). Igor laid down the drum tracks at Mix Nova Studios in Brazil, with additional recordings taking place at Blood Tracks Studio and Sunset Lodge in Los Angeles. Producer Matt Hyde (HATEBREED, SLAYER) will take care of the mastering duties later this month.
Commented Graziadei: "I met the guys in STRIFE back when we were recording the BIOHAZARD album 'State Of The World Address'. We hit it off pretty good and the guys helped us out with background vocals. It's cool to be able to return the favor and have the honor of singing on THEIR record now! With Igor Cavalera on drums and Nick Jett producing the new CD, the guys are back stronger than ever! Hope to hit the road with them sometime during our tour for 'Reborn In Defiance'!"
STRIFE's new album will also feature a guest appearance by Scott Vogel (TERROR) and Marc Rizzo (SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY).
Commented STRIFE guitarist Andrew Kline: "Igor absolutely killed the drum tracks. He played a lot more straight-forward than he normally does to fit our style, and then added the right fills and touches to really stand out."
A final release date, label, cover art and additional information on STRIFE's first CD since 2001's "Angermeans" will be revealed in the near future.
Cavalera previously made a guest appearance on STRIFE's second album, 1997's "In This Defiance".
STRIFE is:
Rick Rodney - Vocals
Andrew Kline - Guitar
Chad Peterson - Bass
Todd Turnham - Guitar

CHILDREN OF BODOM: 'Holiday At Lake Bodom' Track Listing, Cover Artwork UnveiledOn May 22, Finnish metallers CHILDREN OF BODOM will release "Holiday At Lake Bodom (15 Years Of Wasted Youth)", a very special CD+DVD career retrospective in celebration of the band's 15th anniversary. The release will spotlight specially selected tracks from every one of the group's critically acclaimed albums (1997's "Something Wild", 1999's "Hatebreeder", 2000's "Follow The Reaper", 2003's "Hate Crew Deathroll", 2005's "Are You Dead Yet?", 2008's "Blooddrunk" and 2011's "Relentless Reckless Forever"), plus two newly recorded (and undeniably fun) cover songs and detailed liner notes penned by the members of CHILDREN OF BODOM themselves. The DVD portion of the package will include "candid touring and backstage footage from around the world”, plus the never-before-seen music video for "Relentless Reckless Forever"'s "Shovel Knockout".
"'15 Years Of Wasted Youth' is the sound of CHILDREN OF BODOM working hard, partying hard, being relentless and stubborn," says the band's guitarist/vocalist Alexi Laiho. "We went through many brick walls to get to where we are, and after seven studio albums, two live albums, non-stop touring, bleeding and breaking a lot of bones, I think we are justified in putting this album out. Let the music speak for itself. You have been warned."
"Holiday At Lake Bodom (15 Years Of Wasted Youth)" track listing:
01. Hate Crew Deathroll
02. Shovel Knockout
03. Hate Me
04. Everytime I Die
05. Needled 24/7
06. I¨m Shipping Up to Boston (* DROPKICK MURPHYS cover; previously unreleased)
07. Sixpounder
08. Warheart
09. Roundtrip to Hell and Back
10. Trashed, Lost & Strungout
11. Living Dead Beat
12. Deadnight Warrior
13. Blooddrunk
14. Follow The Reaper
15. Are You Dead Yet?
16. Silent Night, Bodom Night
17. Jessie's Girl (* RICK SPRINGFIELD cover; previously unreleased)
18. In Your Face
19. Angels Don't Kill
20. Downfall
The release of "Holiday At Lake Bodom (15 Years Of Wasted Youth)" continues CHILDREN OF BODOM's year-long anniversary celebration, which kicked off with the band's highly successful "15th Anniversary" headlining tour of North America.
In an interview with MusikUniverse.net, Laiho said that the band is scheduled to commence the songwriting sessions for its next album this fall for a 2013 release. "I have ideas, but I haven't done anything about it," Alexi said. "'Cause the thing is, I can't write when I'm touring; it's not the right kind of environment for me. I know a lot of people do it, but I just can't. And it's OK, 'cause I build a lot of ideas in my head, and my memory sucks, but one thing that I never forget is the riffs; they're always in my head somehow. So it's really not a problem."
CHILDREN OF BODOM's last album, "Relentless Reckless Forever", sold nearly 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 42 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous CD, 2008's "Blooddrunk", opened with 19,000 units to land at No. 22. This number was roughly four times the opening tally of "Blooddrunk"'s predecessor, "Are You Dead Yet?", which premiered with 5,000 units back in October 2005 to enter the chart at No. 195.
"Relentless Reckless Forever" was certified gold in the band's home country for first-day sales of over 10,000 copies. The CD was recorded in Finland's Petrax Studios with famed rock producer Matt Hyde (SLAYER, MONSTER MAGNET). 17

IRON MAIDEN, DEEP PURPLE Members Perform With BUDDY RICH ORCHESTRA (Video)IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson performed at the Buddy Rich 25th Anniversary Memorial Concert on Monday, April 2 at the London Palladium. He sang while fellow heavy rock legend, Ian Paice of DEEP PURPLE, played drums alongside the full BUDDY RICH ORCHESTRA.
Dickinson is one of the most acclaimed heavy metal vocalists, regularly appearing at the top of lists of the greatest singers/frontmen of all time. DEEP PURPLE's "In Rock" was the first album he ever bought, so hearing him sing with the drumming legend of the very band that influenced his unique style was a treat indeed.
Other musicians that appeared at the event included singer extraordinaire Tony Christie and drummers Dave Weckl, Gregg Bissonette, John Blackwell and Gregg Potter from the USA; and Ginger Baker, Gavin Harrison, Clem Cattini and Elliott Henshaw from the U.K. The show will be hosted by Buddy's daughter, Cathy Rich, and comedian John Thomson of "The Fast Show" and "Cold Feet" fame. The annual memorial concert took place for the first time in the U.K., celebrating the music of the late great Buddy Rich. Previous sellout shows have taken place in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Boston.

After playing 350 shows internationally during their "World Domination Tour" with such bands as DIO, W.A.S.P., QUEENSRŸCHE, DORO and LORDI in support of their last album, "World Domination", FATAL SMILE spent over a year writing and recording songs for the follow-up effort. Entitled "21st Century Freaks", the new CD was recorded in the tour buses, hotel rooms and studios all over the world before eleven songs were singled out and re-recorded during 2011.
Ten top names tried out for the mixing job, all mixing the song planned as the second single of the album. The band put together a jury of friends to pick out their favorite mix, which turned out to be mix No. 5, not knowing it was mixed by FATAL SMILE's own drummer Philty and guitarist Mr. Y!
According to a press release, "this time [the bandmembers] have done everything on their own to make it the ultimate FATAL SMILE album, from recording and engineering to producing and mixing the album and the result is massive, with 'in-your-face' songs and a 'larger-than-life' sound!"

DEFTONES: New Album Due In OctoberDEFTONES frontman Chino Moreno told the Buenos Aires, Argentina radio station Vorterix Rock 103.1 earlier this week (see video below) that the band completed pre-production on its seventh album late last month and will enter the studio in a few days to begin recording the effort for a late 2012 release. "We start recording next week," he said. "Right before I came last week, we finished all the writing, so next week, when I get back, we start recording and we should have a record that comes out early fall… October. Maybe September."
2010's "Diamond Eyes" has been one of DEFTONES' most successful outings. The set's last single, "You've Seen The Butcher", was a Top 15 rock radio hit.
DEFTONES will once again record with Sergio Vega on bass. Vega stepped in for touring purposes after original bassist Chi Cheng was left in a semi-comatose state by a November 2008 car accident, and stayed on to record "Diamond Eyes" with the group.
Last October, Reprise Records released a limited-edition vinyl box set from DEFTONES. "Deftones: The Vinyl Collection, 1995 - 2011" is a seven-album (8 LP) retrospective containing the band's six studio albums — 1995's "Adrenaline", 1997's "Around The Fur", 2000's "White Pony", 2003's "Deftones", 2006's "Saturday Night Wrist", and 2010's "Diamond Eyes", and the limited-edition 2011 Record Store Day release "Covers". Each album was exclusively re-cut for vinyl from the original master recordings and pressed on 180-gram European virgin vinyl. The collection, which included a unique lithograph and cover art, came packaged in a hand-numbered collector's box pressing of 1,000 copies worldwide. 2

AEROSMITH's BRAD WHITFORD On New Album: 'I Would Have Preferred To Do It All Old School'Jeb Wright of Classic Rock Revisited recently conducted an interview with AEROSMITH guitarist Brad Whitford. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
Classic Rock Revisited: AEROSMITH has been talking about the new album they are working on. I have heard that the album is going to be like the 1970s albums. Is that true?
Whitford: There is more of that on the new album. It is not as much as I would like, as I would have preferred to do it all old school. For the most part, the band recorded live. There is more of a tip of the hat to the old approach. A huge part of that is having Jack Douglas back producing the band once more.
Classic Rock Revisited: Explain to me how a producer can influence the band.
Whitford: In the context of the band, sometimes you don't see the stuff that is right in front of you and you need somebody to point that out. You take certain things for granted and you have to have somebody there who can point things out to you, or to guide you to do something. Being a fan, once again, is a huge part of that because you are a fan of music and a fan of the other guys in the band and you want to do your best. Jack is a huge part of that. Back in the day, Jack was the sixth member of AEROSMITH. He fit in and he always will.
Classic Rock Revisited: You guys have all gone through hell with AEROSMITH. It has been a great thing but at times it has been total insanity. You, however, never seem to cause trouble. I have to ask if you role is to be a peacekeeper or are you just the kind of guy that fades into the background?
Whitford: I suppose you could say I am a peacemaker, as I try to keep things moving forward. AEROSMITH has a tendency to stall over silly stuff. I think that is part of my role. I try to smooth out the bumps.
Classic Rock Revisited: I love Joe Perry's playing and I will never say a bad word about it. I think, however, the guy named Whitford does not get all the respect he deserves. Does it bother you that Joe gets a bigger spotlight?
Whitford: At certain times it has, but I really don't care anymore. The people that appreciate it and really know me realize my contributions and that is all that I'm really concerned about. I am there for my fans and they know what I do.

T&N Featuring DOKKEN Members: Promotional Video ReleasedA four-minute promotional video for T&N (formerly TOOTH AND NAIL) — the new project featuring current and former members of DOKKEN — George Lynch (guitar), Jeff Pilson (bass), and Mick Brown (drums) — can be seen below.
T&N was recently forced to shorten its name from TOOTH AND NAIL for legal reasons. The band stated, "We cannot keep [the name] as TOOTH AND NAIL as there is a label that has it trademarked. [Fans] can still call us TO$%H AND NA$L... We can't."
T&N last month taped an appearance on an episode of VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show" which will air on April 14.
T&N's debut album is expected later in the year. The CD will feature new original material as well as reworked versions of around five or six DOKKEN classics. Pilson has contributed vocals to a new track title "When Eagles Die", with additional lead vocal duties on the CD by former SKID ROW frontman Sebastian Bach (on DOKKEN's "Alone Again"), Doug Pinnick (KING'S X), Tim "Ripper" Owens (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH, DIO DISCIPLES on a killer new version of DOKKEN's "Kiss Of Death" in what is described as a Ronnie James Dio-inspired performance) and Mick Brown (on DOKKEN's "When Heaven Comes Down"). The drum tracks on the new, original compositions were laid down by Brian Tichy (WHITESNAKE, FOREIGNER).
Regarding how T&N came together, Pilson said in an August 2011 interview, "The DOKKEN [original lineup] reunion has been scrapped, and I take a lot of the initial responsibility for that because of my schedule and commitment to FOREIGNER. . . Then George asked me about working with him on the next LYNCH MOB record — and I jumped at the chance. He and I started writing, got into a groove and wrote an album's worth of stuff, all with the intention of Oni [Logan, LYNCH MOB singer] writing lyrics and it being their next record. Brian Tichy laid down some incredible drums at his studio (and co-wrote some music on one track) and we had an incredibly strong start. Then Oni just wasn't feeling the music as being LYNCH MOB, so it was shelved. We figured it'd be the start of another LYNCH/PILSON record some day. Then, actually, it was Brian who had the idea that Mick, George and I should do a band, similar to what HEAVEN & HELL was to BLACK SABBATH, and call it TOOTH AND NAIL. Because of everything else we have going, it'll be just a recording project at first, but sure sounds fun. We'd record the classics keeping true to the originals but make them fresh and organic. Then the idea of doing new songs came up, and it grew from there."
He added, "I have absolute belief that the music George and I make together (along with Brian Tichy in this case) is real and inspired, and that's what it's really all about. So out of a mess of a reunion attempt, I think we'll end up with a really fabulous record, and what could be better than that?"
When asked if T&N is basically DOKKEN without Don, Pilson said, "Don is, and will always be, the singer of DOKKEN and an invaluable part of the DOKKEN chemistry. No one ever wants to take that away or dispute it one iota. But the three of us do have time tested amazing chemistry, and because we were writers on these songs, I feel we have a lot to express. If anything I think this will be a show of respect for Don, not some kind of competition. I only hope people enjoy it in the spirit for which it's intended . . . Don't think of this as DOKKEN without Don... that's misleading. Think of it as a band with great chemistry coming up with new music that excites them, and also paying tribute to DOKKEN — music which the members all are heavily invested in emotionally."

A little background information on the genesis of this project: Åkerfeldt and Wilson have been friends since the late '90s, when Wilson co-produced OPETH's revered "Blackwater Park" album. Over the years, they'd often spoken of working on a project together, but it wasn't until recently that they managed to make something happen, when Mikael flew over to visit Steven in the U.K. and they ended up in Wilson's home studio throwing ideas around. That visit was the nascence of a whole self-titled album, written and produced by the pair, and mixed by Wilson.
The sound of STORM CORROSION can best be described as enchanting, orchestral, ambient, epic (half the album's tracks clock in around the 10-minute mark) and nothing short of surprising to the new ear. However, the musicians' respective fanbases will be primed to appreciate the new output, with Wilson's recent solo album, "Grace For Drowning", and OPETH's "Heritage" having brought them to a logical place to understand STORM CORROSION. This eponymous collection is almost viewed as one side of a musical triangle.
Says Wilson, "If you'd asked me three months ago about the music, I would have said, 'Expect the last thing you would expect.' But actually, now that 'Heritage' and 'Grace For Drowning' have come out, I don't think it's going to be that much of a shock to people, because it's almost like a third part of the trilogy, in a way. If anything, it's even more orchestral, even more stripped down, even more dark, twisted and melancholic… but it certainly feels like it comes from the same place as 'Heritage' and 'Grace For Drowning', which indeed it does because it was written during the same period.”
"Some of the music on this record I think is the most beautiful music I have participated on ever," adds Åkerfeldt. "There's some magical sections on there. Musically, I think we've created something earthy, a bit frightening, exhausting, profound and rather intense. All at the same time. I can safely say I don't know any other band or artist that sounds anything like STORM CORROSION. I guess that was also one of our goals, so to speak."
Roadrunner Senior VP of A&R, Monte Conner, welcomed STORM CORROSION to the Roadrunner family, commenting, "I am honored to have the Roadrunner logo on the STORM CORROSION album. Steven Wilson and Mikael Åkerfeldt have demonstrated time and time again that they are two of the truest and most important artists working today, and it is not often that I get to work with musicians of this caliber. This album is a beautiful piece of work that will appeal to fans of Steven and Mikael's past records, while at the same time exploring new avenues for both artists."

A U.S. Midwest mini-tour with KRIEG and MURMUR will kick off on July 25.
Very few bands today embrace their own individualism to ultimately craft something truly unique and genre defying. Enter the NACHTMYSTIUM, who embrace the true spirit of individuality and intolerance forming solely as an outlet to express the dark musical visions and summoning’s of those involved.
The band already sailed under the Century Media label banner in the USA since 2008 and released the classic albums "Assassins: Black Meddle Pt. 1" (2008) and "Addicts: Black Meddle Part II" (2010). Now, Century Media finally looks into a worldwide partnership with NACHTMYSTIUM and plans great things to come in 2012!
Originally formed in 1999 by Blake Judd, NACHTMYSTIUM started off as a raw, primitive black metal band with a very derivative Norsk black metal influence. They released a number of records on underground labels before they turned into a new musical direction and 'psychedelic'-era. Over the past years NACHTMYSTIUM created a genre all of its own and will develop this progress for 2012.
Founding member Blake Judd (vocals, guitars) commented on the new deal: "We are very excited and honoured to be working with Century Media, a label who over the years has showcased a ferocious dedication to extreme music. GRAVE, TIAMAT, SAMAEL and countless other bands active in the early '90s were some of the first bands to inspire us endlessly to create our own metal music. We anticipate a great working relationship and hope to embark on a joint ascension to metal superiority together!"
