TÝR: New Song Available For StreamingFaroese Viking metallers TÝR will release their new album, "By the Light of the Northern Star", on May 29 in Europe via Napalm Records. A stream of the song "Hold the Heathen Hammer High", along with the CD artwork, is available here.
"By the Light of the Northern Star" was recorded in early 2009 on the band's native soil. Jacob Hansen mixed the new material and finishing touches were provided by the mastering experts at Finnvox.
On "By the Light of the Northern Star" the Faroese band delivers catchy yet technically brilliant tracks, and once again demonstrates how to impressively unite the contemporary present with the mythological past. Traditional homeland melodies, Viking choruses, and classic heavy metal songs, such as "Hold the Heathen Hammer High" or even the title track, offer fans new and powerful hymns. Responsible for the brilliance of this "Northern Star" is once again frontman and mastermind Heri Joensen, who provides an undisputed goosebump factor with his clean and majestic vocals.
"By the Light of the Northern Star" will be available as regular jewel case and a limited-edition deluxe digipack including two bonus tracks.
TÝR is:
Heri Joensen - Vocals, Guitar

Commented Peter: "After having being asked to be part of the new OMC album, I obviously went back and listened to the previous releases of the band, so I now am able to say that in my opinion, these new nine songs are the best material I have heard of the band so far. There is a lot of more variety going on and the album will sound bigger than any other OMC record before. As far as my performance goes, this is probably the best drumming I have ever recorded so far. I am extremely happy and proud of the session and there's a lot more double bass and blast beats on here than you have normally heard me doing, so look out for this great record!"
OLD MAN'S CHILD's last album, "Vermin", was released in October 2005 via Century Media Records. The follow-up to 2003's "In Defiance of Existence" was recorded at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden and features a guest appearance by TESTAMENT/DRAGONLORD guitarist Eric Peterson. JASON NEWSTED: \'I Have Never Regretted Leaving METALLICA\'Since bassist Jason Newsted left METALLICA in 2001 to form the short-lived ECHOBRAIN, METALLICA fans have wondered whether Newsted has ever regretted exiting the band. "I tell you very honestly, 1 billion percent, I have never regretted leaving METALLICA," Newsted tells RollingStone.com. "It was the right thing for everyone. It was the right thing to do for the camp, that's it. I've never told anyone that I wanted to go back or anything like that, not once. I made up my mind. It was not an easy thing to do, but it was something I had to do. I thought about it very much before I pulled the trigger, and because of that, I have never looked back. The past is where its supposed to be."
He adds, "I was one of the biggest fan of the band before I went in, and I'm a METALLICA fan still. I was always the one person in the world who had an inside look and an outside look at the band, at the same time, and now, I've been out for a while, and I'm able to be a fan again."
Does that mean Newsted likes "Death Magnetic"? “It was better than 'St. Anger'," he says. 16

KREATOR To Appear On SLIME Tribute AlbumVeteran German thrashers KREATOR joined forces with Nagel, singer of MUFF POTTER (a German-speaking punk band from Rheine and Münster in Northrhine-Westphaliato), last summer to record a cover of SLIME's "Alle Gegen Alle" for the upcoming "Tribute to Slime" compilation. Vocals on the track are shared between KREATOR mainman Mille Petrozza and Nagel.
SLIME was a German punk rock band which existed between 1979 and 1994. They were very influential to the German punk culture and their first album, "Slime I", was reportedly the first German punk album to get banned.

OZZY: \'I Didn\'t Get Involved In The Entertainment Business To Do Fast Food Restaurants\'SuicideGirls.com about their family's return to television with the premiere today (Tuesday, March 31) on Fox of "Osbournes: Reloaded". A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
SuicideGirls.com: When you thought about doing a second show, did you feel like, "What more could we do on television?"
Ozzy Osbourne: To be honest with you, I never thought about it. Sharon was the driving force behind it. When they first came to me, I said, "I think it's not what we're about." Then Sharon wanted to do it and the kids wanted to do it so I thought, "You know, I'll have a go."
Kelly Osbourne: It's something that we thought, like, "What else could we do?" We started something, a whole generation of TV programming. We don't want to do something unless it's equally as great. So we spent a lot of time and said no to a lot of projects — until we finally said yes.
Ozzy Osbourne: What I've sort of learned from it is when you watch a TV show, it didn't take just a half an hour to make. It took weeks, the work that goes into it. The variety show is truly a variety show in the respect that we're trying a lot of different things: some of what you're familiar with, some that you're not familiar with. Yesterday I was doing green screen work and I was there for 10 hours straight, different costumes, different mics. You know, like "Forrest Gump" when they put somebody [in the scene], it's that kind of thing.
SuicideGirls.com: How many different things do you do on the show?
Kelly Osbourne: We all do different things. Me and my father do hidden camera stuff where we took over a yoga class. We also took over a drive-through. It's really funny. Jack and I do a challenge. I challenge Jack in every episode. We have one thing where we go around meeting other Osbourne families. What I love the most is the audience participation and the reaction that we get from just filming in studio.
SuicideGirls.com: How did you find the fast food work?
Ozzy Osbourne: Not to my liking, to be honest with you. I didn't get involved in the entertainment business to do fast food restaurants. These people really work. One thing I've learned, I try not to complain too much about people who have to do manual jobs that you would never want to do. Who cleans up? Who does dishes? Somebody does that job. I come from a working class background. I've never forgotten that. I've done my share of destroying hotel rooms and all of that stuff. It makes me realize they're still out there and they're still doing them jobs.
SuicideGirls.com: What can you tell us about the other Osbourne families?
Kelly Osbourne: People are people, no matter what your last name is, they've all been just lovely people. They live very different lives from us. One of them is a cowboy, one of them is a UFO hunter and one of them is a farmer.
Ozzy Osbourne: Well, the first one we went to was in Dakota somewhere. I think it's quite alarming because I often wondered, when I'm on the road and I'm going around Washington, I go to the military hospital and see the guys who got wounded out there in Iraq and Afghanistan. I often thought, "Where do they get all the soldiers from?" People come from England, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, a lot of big cities, but there's thousands and thousands from smaller towns in this country. You don't think that they exist but they do. When I went to this one in Dakota, I said to the parents, "How many children you got?" They said, "Three. I mean, we've got two and one's in the military." I asked if he's been to Iraq or Afghanistan and she said, "Yeah. Two tour of duties." Don't you ever worry about him getting killed? She went, "Oh no, not for his country." I went whoa. Then she goes, "My kids here got as much chance of getting killed as there." I go, what do you mean? She said, "Well, my daughter the other day had a car crash and she could've got killed." I thought what a weird thing to say. If my kid ever come to me and says, "Dad, I want to go in the army" I wouldn't [let him]. I'd just think he must be mad. 8

GOD SEED Confirmed For HELLFEST; Touring Lineup RevealedGOD SEED, the new Norwegian band featuring former GORGOROTH members King (bass; real name: Tom Cato Visnes) and Gaahl (vocals; real name: Kristian Espedal), has been confirmed for Hellfest, set to take place June 19-21, 2009 in Clisson, France. They will headline the Rock Hard stage on June 19.
GOD SEED's lineup for the performance will consist of the following musicians:
Gaahl Vocals
King - Bass
Teloch - Guitar
Ice Dale - Guitar
Dani "Garghuf" Robnik - Drums
Gaahl and King recently lost a court battle against guitarist Infernus (real name: Roger Tiegs) over the rights to the GORGOROTH band name.
Speaking to U.K.'s Terrorizer magazine, King stated about the outcome of the legal dispute, "It was a sort of relief. The verdict is not cast in stone, there are aspects towards that decision that are still unclear but we just came to the conclusion that this will drag on forever in court rooms. It will take years to solve this matter if we choose to fight it, so we just decided to let that part of our history die. We don't have time to wait two more years to release albums and continue making music. It's not important that name and that struggle for us. In my mind we would probably still win but on the other hand I don't have two more years of my career waiting on the GORGOROTH name to use that. The new album is already made, I'm not waiting two more years to release that."
Asked how he feels now that his band has announced its new name, King said, "It's actually strange because there's lots of excitement, of course, around it. Because we are starting a new era and changing the name, there's a big symbolic value in doing that — but at the same time it's strange because we've worked under the GORGOROTH banner for so many years. Since dramatically nothing is changing on our part, it's the same thing, me and Gaahl making music and working, so the same things are happening behind the scenes. It's just that we are not using the GORGOROTH name anymore. We will, of course, do some different things in the future; this gives us a lot of new opportunities." 8

LION\'S SHARE: \'Judas Must Die\' Video Available"Judas Must Die", the new video from Swedish melodic metal masters LION'S SHARE, can be viewed here. The clip was shoit in Stockholm, Sweden with director Josef Doukkali. LION'S SHARE previously worked with Doukkali on the clip for the track "The Edge Of The Razor", from the "Emotional Coma" album. The band's original decision to work with Doukkali was based in part on the fact that his background was not in music video but in narrative film projects, and that his more cinematic approach would give the clip a unique look and feel.
LION'S SHARE's new album, "Dark Hours", was released on last week via Blistering Records. The follow-up to 2007's "Emotional Coma" was mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren (OPETH, SYMPHONY X, PARADISE LOST, AMON AMARTH) and features guest appearances by SYMPHONY X guitarist Mike Romeo (guest solo on "Behind The Curtain"), and drummers Conny Pettersson (from Earache Records death metal act ANATA) and Richard Evensand (CHIMAIRA, SOILWORK). 1
