Former IRON MAIDEN vocalist Paul Di'Anno will perform with the Swedish heavy metal act BLOODBOUND at the Bollnäs Festival in Sweden on July 21, 2007. The band will perform both BLOODBOUND and IRON MAIDEN songs together with the Southern Hälsingland orchestra association. This will be the first time ever IRON MAIDEN songs are backed by a symphony orchestra.

The Bollnäs Festival takes place in Bollnäs in the Swedish province of Hälsingland in the north of the country between July 19 and July 21. Other metal acts confirmed for this year's festival are PAIN, SONIC SYNDICATE, MORGANA LEFAY, NIGHTINGALE and WOLVERINE.

Finnish melodic metallers SONATA ARCTICA have posted their video for the song "Paid in Full" at Youtube. The track comes off the group's new album, "Unia" (Finnish for "Dreams"), due in North America on May 22 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was mixed at Finnvox studio in Helsinki and was mastered at the Cutting Room in Stockholm, Sweden.

CIRCUS DIABLO — the new project featuring THE CULT guitarist Billy Duffy, THE ALMIGHTY frontman Ricky Warwick (guitar), ex-THE CULT touring bassist/current CAMP FREDDY guitarist Billy Morrison (vocals), and former FUEL/current RIDERS ON THE STORM frontman Brett Scallions (bass) — has posted the first single, "Loaded", from its upcoming self-titled debut album on the band's MySpace page.

CIRCUS DIABLO recently inked a deal with KOCH Entertainment. Matt Sorum (VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N' ROSES) played drums on the group's self-titled debut album (cover), which is scheduled for release on July 3.

Former SOILWORK guitarist Peter Wichers, who currently works as a songwriter/producer in California, has just returned from his native Sweden where he finished mixing and mastering a project that he has been working on for over a year. The CD, which will most likely be released under the "Nuclear Blast All-Stars" banner, features 10 "brand-spanking-new" songs written by Wichers for 10 different singers and two different drummers. According to H.I.M.'s Finnish record label Helsinki Music Company (HMC) (web site), the projected release date of the group's new album, tentatively titled "Venus Doom", has been pushed back to September from the previously announced July 10. The band's sixth studio CD was recorded at the Finnvox facility in Helsinki with producer Tim Palmer and is scheduled to be mixed this month in California, followed by a video shoot.

H.I.M. frontman Ville Valo recently told MTV.com that "Venus Doom" is "going to be a lot heavier than anything we've done before — that's the whole idea. It's like we're mixing MY BLOODY VALENTINE's 'Loveless' with METALLICA's 'Master of Puppets'. ... There won't be as much ear candy on this one. There are a lot of riffs, and it's more guitar-oriented than keyboard-driven. Really, we just wanted to rock our own socks off.

"We wanted to make a really rockin' album — one that would explode your speakers," he added. "But we also wanted to maintain the melancholy aspects of love and loss in the lyrics and then have the really sweet vocals amidst this storm of guitars.

"Lyrically, it's about me losing a relationship and then actually regaining it, and losing my sanity and regaining it," Valo continued. "As you grow up, life gets more and more complex, even though when you're a kid you think things are going to get easier. It's like a f---ing puzzle that just keeps on having more and more pieces to it. It's very personal, this album. It's like me getting rid of my demons and putting the pain in the music. It's cathartic, and it's about cleansing yourself and trying to have the courage to take that one step further."

Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Dead Lovers Lane" (video), "The Kiss of Dawn", "Love in Cold Blood" and "Passion's Killing Floor".

Dutch female-fronted symphonic metal band EPICA has set "The Divine Conspiracy" as the title of its new album, due August/September via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD, which is currently being mixed by Sascha Paeth, will feature a session appearance by GOD DETHRONED drummer Ariën van Weesenbeek. EPICA has yet to name a full-time drummer following the departure of Jeroen Simons in 2006.

Formed by guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Mark Jansen (ex-AFTER FOREVER) in 2002, EPICA has so far released three albums, among them a full-length soundtrack in the vein of Hollywood composers Hans Zimmer and Danny Elfman. The Dutch metallers have already played in 24 countries, and have completed successful tours in Europe, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and the USA.

Italian "symphonic power epic" metal band THY MAJESTIE has announced the addition of Dario Cascio (vocals) and Simone Campione (guitar) to the group's ranks. "We are so pleased to have them in our team!" the band writes on its web site. "They brought us life and new enthusiasm. They are officially in the band. We look forward to starting working on the new album!"

THY MAJESTIE parted ways with vocalist Dario Grillo a couple of months ago due to personal differences. And so it was after a hard struggle to make his mind up about our gigs in Holland we decided to leave him with his troubles that may have thwarted the smooth running of our work. Good luck to Dario. Swedish "dark death metal" act RUNEMAGICK has set "Dawn of the End" as the title of its new album. "The tracks are mixed and ready for final mastering," according to a posting on the band's web site. Finland's TORTURE KILLER will enter the studios in November to start recording a follow-up to their 2006 album "Swarm!"

"After the basic tracking done in Finland we will move to Hit Factory [in] Miami, where Chris [Barnes, SIX FEET UNDER/TORTURE KILLER vocalist] will start laying down the vocal tracks and hopefully the CD will be finished by the end of the year for an early 2008 release," the band writes in a press release.

"Things are moving along nicely and we are confident that we will have decent death metal album on our hands. The new songs are sounding great; all the 'Swarm!' elements are there and we think we've taken another step ahead with our approach on death metal, some really haunting guitar licks combined with a groove and more attacking style, hopefully we can catch all this energy the right way and I'm sure people are definitely going to enjoy this one."

British thrash metal legends ONSLAUGHT will release their first live DVD, "Live Polish Assault 2007", in Europe on June 11 via Metal Mind Productions (June 19 in the U.S.). According to a posting at ScorpsNews.com, SCORPIONS guitarist Rudolf Schenker revealed in the latest issue of the French magazine Rock Hard that SMASHING PUMPKINS frontman Billy Corgan makes an appearance on vocals in the new SCORPIONS song "The Cross", which is included on the band's new CD, "Humanity - Hour 1", due in Germany on May 25.

In other news, Schenker stated that the SCORPIONS invited both Rudolf's brother Michael and Uli Jon Roth to appear on the new CD, but that neither was able to guest on the album due to scheduling conflicts.

Also on the SCORPIONS front, professionally filmed video footage of the band's special performance at last year's Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany — dubbed "A Night to Remember - A Journey in Time" — is currently being edited for a possible fall DVD release. Billboard.com recently reported that Alice Cooper has put off recording his next album, a conceptual piece about a serial killer called "Along Came a Spider", until 2008 but says it could turn into a two-CD set.

"That would be great; I've never done one," Cooper said. "We wrote 20 songs thinking we were going to get this album recorded before this tour. We just ran out of time. But since we have five months on the road we'll probably write another 10 songs. I'd like to put out 30 brand new songs on one album."

SHAAMAN (as the band was known prior to its split) released its sophomore album, "Reason", in May 2005 via AFM Records. The 10-song follow-up to 2002's "Ritual" was mixed and mastered at Heaven's Gate Studios in Wolfsburg, Germany with producer Sascha Paeth, who previously worked with such acts as KAMELOT, EDGUY, RHAPSODY and FREEDOM CALL. A DVD, entitled "RituAlive", came out in 2003.
