SCORPIONS Forced To Cancel Sydney Show With DEF LEPPARD Due To KLAUS MEINE's Vocal IssuesAccording to Australia's MusicFeeds, German rock legends the Scorpions were forced to cancel their November 10th show supporting Def Leppard in Sydney. Scorpions vocalist Klaus Meine issued the following statement:
"Dear Australian Fans, believe me I have tried everything to be up on stage tonight in Sydney... I haven‘t said a word in the last 36 hours to rest my pipes, but unfortunately my voice is not back to the power it needs to sing my heart out for you tonight. You deserve nothing less than the best performance and I hope we have a chance to come back to finally 'Rock You Like A Hurricane’. Thank you for all the 'get well soon' messages. Thank you, Def Leppard, for your amazing support on this tour. Love Klaus."
Scorpions were forced to cancel their performance on November 8th at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia due to Meine's vocal issues. His previous statement follows:
"We came a long way to finally ROCK Australia for the very first time (except for Melbourne ) together with our friends Def Leppard. We have had a fantastic run so far, and it breaks my heart to let you know that I can’t sing tonight at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. The Doc has recommended that I rest my voice until Sydney and I cross my fingers that it all works out."

VISION QUEST Sign With Rockshots RecordsItaly's Vision Quest have signed a worldwide record deal with Rockshots Records for the release of their self-titled debut album.
Vision Quest is a project born many years ago with the purpose of conceiving a "Rock Opera" with melodic rock songs. The band name is inspired by "Vision Quest", a 1985 American coming-of-age drama film: the soundtrack includes songs from the artists of the "HeyDay" melodic rock era such as Journey, Foreigner, John Waite, Sammy Hagar among the others.

The self-titled album is divided into two parts; the first part tells the story of "Orion", who fights and dies to save his people from an obscure and unknown force; the second part tells the story of "Avathar”, squire of the king who ends up betraying Orion in exchange for immortality and gets to be exiled; during the exile he gets suffering, repenting, and finds love.
Produced by Marco Bartoli and Guido Ponzi, Mixed by Stefano Riccò at Esagono Studios and Mastered by Giovanni Versari (Muse) at "La Maestà" Studio, Vision Quest's debut album is set to be released worldwide via Rockshots Records on December 14th, in digipak, digital download and streaming.

Exclusive: HELD HOSTAGE Premiere “Show Me The Way Back Home” Lyric Video Featuring JOE LYNN TURNERNew York-based rockers Held Hostage are all about helping military veterans, and will do so this Veterans Day, when their latest single, “Show Me The Way Back Home,” is released, with portions of the proceeds being donated to veterans groups.
The thought-provoking track featuring iconic singer Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow/Deep Purple/Yngwie Malmsteen), will then will be followed up with a full-length CD, entitled Epic.
The band comments: “Let me start off by saying, Happy Veterans Day and, thank you for your service. I am so proud of what 'Show Me the Way Back Home' has become - It is a battle cry of sorts for many Veterans who just want to be heard but are not sure how to. I have had 100% positive feedback, not just from Veterans but from people who never served or had family members who served and never came home. These people thank me - and say what a great cause. To further, I have been helping Veterans since back in the 90’s before most people even realized what they were going through or had been through. Not just physically but emotionally and how it taken it’s a toll on many of them.
“I started writing ‘Show Me the Way Back Home’ after hearing stories from my brother about Vietnam, and the way they were treated when they arrived home. They were spit on, thrown beer cans at, and treated horribly by the protesters. They were even told upon arrival to USA to take off their uniforms so protesters wouldn't target them. I became fascinated by the stories - not to mention disgusted - and I researched Vietnam and all the wars. One thing I discovered, was that many of them will “not” ask for help. I also realized that a lot of these men never came home, and the ones that did come home, truly never made it back all the way. That's why I wrote ‘Show Me the Way Back Home,’ in hopes to heal and let them know there is a way for them to come back home.
“When I was recording the song, the process turned into a little longer one then I thought. Finding the right combination of guys to record with and the producer was key to establishing the ground work. I have to say Carl Canedy drummer/producer was a big plus to the song. Then you add in the iconic singer Joe Lynn Turner (Deep Purple, Rainbow, Yngwie Malmsteen), along with some great guys in the band, including myself Tom Collier, Scott Greg, Ian Evans, Joe Reppert, Greg Truax. I also have some great special guests that do live appearances with Held Hostage that include Carl Canedy (The Rods), Freddy Villano (Quiet Riot, Dee Sniders Widower Maker, American Mafia), Giorgio Mongelli (Ethan Brosh) and Mike Sanstasiero (Totally Lost Cause).”
Tom Collier: “This has been quite the journey and helping people doing the right things makes it all worthwhile. When I was writing Show Me the Way Back Home. I never imagined I would be playing live and recording with, some of music’s biggest Icons, I use to watch from the audience. Get ready this is going to be one Helluva Ride.”
Joe Lynn Turner: "I support the Veterans and performing on this song was such an honor and pleasure. Very powerful!"
Of note: Tom also donates a portion of the proceeds of my music sales to the veterans groups. Tom is currently helping the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 704 raise funds to build a memorial for the 27 Heroes in Cayuga County, NY - 27 that never came home.

SODOM’s Tom Angelripper – “We Will Try To Release The Next Album At The End Of 2019”Greece’s Rock Overdose caught up with Sodom frontman Tom Angelripper and talked about a possible release date of their next full-length album.
On the subject of plans of a new full-length album, Angelripper said, “Yes, but we want to work it out without any time-pressure, so we don`t talk about a release date with the record company. But, if everything will be prepared we try to release in the end of 2019 or beginning of 2019. We`ll see.”
On reuniting with Blackfire: “Like sitting in a time machine. I was so glad, that he did not change his guitar sound all over the decades and the way he write songs. That’s so crazy. When we rehearsed ‘Nuclear Winter’, ‘Sodomy & Lust’, ‘Christ Passion’ for the first time, I was so astonished that the guitar sound is exactly the same like on Persecution Mania or Agent Orange album. Now, we are able to reproduce the songs in an original way during the live sets.”

KHEMMIS – “Flesh To Nothing” Guitar Playthrough Video StreamingHailing from Denver's thriving metal scene, Khemmis captivated fans with their latest album Desolation, which was released in June via 20 Buck Spin and Nuclear Blast Entertainment. Combining traditional doom with Thin Lizzy-style hard rock, the band has honed their craft to blend both extreme and old-school influences more seamlessly than ever before. Ill-omened melodies alongside chugging, galloping riffs set the tone of the album, and in a new playthrough video, dueling axemen Phil Pendergast and Ben Hutcherson play through the track, "Flesh To Nothing."
"With Desolation we wanted to make a record that celebrated our love of the metal that got us into heavy music in the first place while still adding our own spin on that sound," explains Pendergast. "For me, 'Flesh to Nothing' is the song that most explicitly captures that spirit. My vocals were very inspired by both Rob Halford and Nick Holmes here, and the riffing has a lot of heavy metal swagger, making it one of my favorite tracks to play. The vocal climax into the dueling guitar solos is one of my favorite moments on the new record."
Hutcherson adds, "We chose 'Flesh To Nothing' for this guitar playthrough because it covers a lot of ground -- a somber, downtempo chorus gives way to a galloping bridge early in the song, while the vocal interplay during the black metal pre-solo break alludes to the dueling guitar leads near the end. Oh, and let's not forget all the harmonized guitar lines -- we channeled Iron Maiden quite a few times in this track! Over the years, lots of fans asked how we write and play these songs, so we felt that 'Flesh' would serve as an ideal introduction to playing our brand of doomed heavy metal.
We tune our Flying Vs to Drop D down two whole steps (low to high A# F A# D# G C) and we both use D'Addario EXL158 Light Baritone Strings (13-62). When you tune low and play hard, you've gotta beef up those strings!"
Khemmis is preparing to perform several new live performances this month and next in support of the LP, beginning with a Western US run in late November where they'll play alongside the likes of The Black Dahlia Murder, Pig Destroyer, Power Trip, Ghoul, Gost, Skeletal Remains, and more with shows in Fort Collins, Portland, and Berkley on their way to play the first night of Decibel Magazine's Metal And Beer Festival in Los Angeles December 1st with Testament, Pig Destroyer, The Black Dahlia Murder, Necrot, Pounder, Trappist and more. Later in December, Khemmis plays Two Nights of Doomed Heavy Metal - two back-to-back hometown Denver shows, each night performing different and unique sets drawing from all the band's releases. The first night, A Night of Doom, sees support from Dreadnought and Green Druid, while night two, A Night of Heavy Metal, will see Of Feather And Bone and Nightwraith opening.

ELO / WIZZARD Cellist HUGH McDOWELL Dead At 65BBC.com is reporting that Electric Light Orchestra and Wizzard cellist, Hugh McDowell, has died from cancer at the age of 65.
McDowell performed at ELO's first concert in 1972, but left a year later with fellow bandmate Roy Wood to form Wizzard. He returned to ELO shortly after, featuring on their albums Eldorado and Face The Music.
McDowell was invited to join ELO by Jeff Lynne when he was 19 and, bar his brief hiatus with Wizzard, remained in the group until 1979 when Lynne ditched ELO's string section.
News of his death was confirmed after friend and fellow ELO cellist Melyvn Gale posted a statement on his private Facebook page. He said: "I'm sad beyond words to have to pass on the news that my old friend and fantastic cellist Hugh McDowell passed away last night after a long illness.
"We met in our mid teens and were close until we left ELO in 1980. He was a beautiful free spirit, had such a natural gift as a cellist and just a lovely bloke."

DAMIAN WILSON And ADAM WAKEMAN To Release New Session Album, Stripped, In January; Cover Of DAVID BOWIE's "Life On Mars" StreamingAfter the final show of their 2018 acoustic tour, Damian Wilson (Ayreon, Headspace) and Adam Wakeman (Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath) decided to go into the studio for one day and try to capture the onstage chemistry. They played through songs performed on their 27-date tour through Europe, which had an ever-changing set list every night, and recorded everything.
This session will be released on vinyl, CD and digital/streaming format on January 11th.
Aside from stripped down versions of songs from their joint albums and both their solo catalogues, the album also contains a selection of cover songs that were part of the tour set list: "Life On Mars" (David Bowie) and "Feel Like Going Home" (Charlie Rich). "Soldier" is played in Damian’s original song arrangement, before it became a Headspace track.
Pre-order the album (with some exclusive pre-order extras) here.
”The intention was to record one or two songs." - Damian Wilson
“I've never made an album that left me so exposed before. We both recorded completely live in the studio, so every noise from the piano damper pedal, every breath, every note and expression is laid bare on the recording. There's something magical about not being able to alter or fix anything once you've captured a performance.” - Adam Wakeman
The session was mixed by Gary Stevenson (ABC, Tony Hadley) and mastered by Brett Caldas-Lima (Ayreon, Devin Townsend).
"Life On Mars" is available now on all major download and streaming platforms. Listen to the song below.
Tracklisting:
"Life On Mars"
"Laugh In Time"
"Written In Anger"
"Tapestries"
"People Come And Go"
"Disciple"
"Seek For Adventure"
"I Won’t Blame Life"
"Soldier"
"The Sun Will Dance In Its Twilight Hour "
"Feel Like Going Home"
"Life On Mars":
Damian and Adam will embark on a second UK tour on January 5th, with more shows throughout Europe to be added later in 2019. Visit WilsonWakeman.com for more details and tickets. 1

SLIPKNOT Breaks Personal YouTube Record With 'All Out Life' Music VideoSLIPKNOT has set a new personal record on YouTube with the video for its latest song, "All Out Life". The clip, which was directed by the band's own M. Shawn Crahan, amassed 3.4 million views in the first 24 hours after the video was released. It debuts on the U.S. Top Music Videos chart at No. 84. Views on the video are currently approaching the 10-million mark.
According to ABC Radio, the record for most views in 24 hours for a music video belongs to K-pop superstars BTS, whose "Idol" video generated more than 45 million views in one day.
"All Out Life" will appear on SLIPKNOT's upcoming follow-up to 2014's ".5: The Gray Chapter" album, due next year via Roadrunner.
SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor told "Zane Lowe's World Record" about the lyrical inspiration for "All Out Life": "Everybody talks about toxic masculinity and toxic fandom these days. For me, it's more about this toxic idea that unless something came out 10 minutes ago, it's not any good, and that bothers me. It's, like, I love new music, but at the same time, don't turn your back on the music that's been. Don't turn your back on the people that worked to make a platform for you to have a platform in the first place, so for me, it's really about ... It's a rallying cry for everyone. It's about all of us getting together and saying, 'You know what? Let's not talk about old. Let's not talk about new. Let's talk about what is. Let's talk about what's good, what's real, and get behind that and start embracing things that matter because there's history there and not just because it's the next best thing.'"
b>Taylor went on to call the new album "one of the darkest chapters in SLIPKNOT's history — it's that good. It's complicated, it's dark, it's heavy, it's melodic, it's fierce, it's angry and it's real, it's raw as hell and it's gonna be talking about a lot of things that people are going to need in their life right now."
".5: The Gray Chapter" was released following a six-year hiatus during which founding SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Gray died and drummer Joey Jordison was dismissed.
".5: The Gray Chapter" sold around 132,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD arrived in stores in October 2014 via Roadrunner.
Gray died in 2010 from a drug overdose, while Jordison was let go in December 2013, just before SLIPKNOT began recording the last album. 12

Report: AEROSMITH's JOE PERRY Rushed To Hospital After Performing With BILLY JOELAccording to TMZ, AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry was rushed to the hospital Saturday night (November 10) after performing with Billy Joel in New York City.
Perry had just finished playing "Walk This Way" with Joel at Madison Square Garden and had gone back to his dressing room. A source connected with the concert told the tabloid site that Joe collapsed and "looked terrible."
Paramedics rushed to the scene and worked on the 68-year-old for around 40 minutes. A trachea was put down his throat to clear the air path and one eyewitness told the site "Joe did not look good." The ambulance personnel then put the guitarist on a stretcher, gave him oxygen and rushed him to a hospital.
Since its original report, TMZ has posted an update, saying that Perry had been having "breathing issues" involving congestion in the lungs for the last few weeks and "it came to a head last night." According to the site, Joe is still in the hospital, but "he's awake, doing well and could be released as early as Sunday afternoon."
b>Perry is scheduled to kick off a solo tour on November 30 in support of his most recent solo album, "Sweetzerland Manifesto".
Back in July 2016, Perry collapsed onstage mid-song during a HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES concert in Brooklyn. He was subsequently hospitalized, as rumors of cardiac arrest spread. Sources later said that "a combination of dehydration and exhaustion" was to blame.
"I've certainly had a couple other instances where I've pushed myself over the edge, but never in such a public way, you know?" Joe told the Boston Globe earlier this year. "Certainly we're seeing more and more people pass from one thing or another, whether it's age or abuse. And I don't want to be on that list. So I learned a lot. But also, frankly, I rediscovered the guitar. You know, a lot of things that I took for granted and left behind in this long and varied career, I kind of went back to again."

ALL THAT REMAINS Guitarist OLI HERBERT Drowned After Ingesting Antidepressants And Sleeping PillsALL THAT REMAINS guitarist Oli Herbert died of drowning, his widow has confirmed.
Herbert was found dead on October 16 near his home in Connecticut. He was 44 years old.
According to TMZ, police were dispatched to Oli's Stafford Springs residence after someone reported him missing. Cops searched the area and found Oli in a nearby pond.
Earlier today, Oli's wife Beth released a statement via his official Facebook page in which she revealed that her husband drowned after apparently ingesting antidepressant medication and sleeping pills.
he wrote: "Good morning everyone this is Beth. And indeed it IS a good morning; Toxicology results are back as is the official cause of my husband's death!
"Cause of death- Drowning. Toxicology- Oli was apparently self-treating for manic-depression that has run in his family for several generations. Anti-depressants were found in his system, as well as a sleep aid. The psych meds found in his system were the same ones that a close relative has been prescribed for a long time, so he knew what to hunt down for the 'treatment'. Seeing how he was not going (and WOULDN'T GO) to a doctor to get diagnosed with the issue and was not being prescribed the medications and monitored on them, it explains his occasional erratic behavior here at home.
"If anybody knows where Oli was getting the psych meds, please call CT State Police, Troop C in Tolland, CT."
Beth also addressed the sudden cancelation of the public memorial service for Oli, which was supposed to be held on Sunday, November 11 at the Worcester Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts. She wrote: "As far as why the memorial was cancelled; concern for my personal safety and home due to numerous threats to both is the reason."
In the comments section below her original post, Beth offered a possible explanation for how Oli ended up in the pond. "One of the drugs can have a hallucinogenic effect, also restlessness," she wrote. "Oli kept wanting to go outside that night before he disappeared and he kept walking towards the pond, which is a pitch black part of our property as well as very slippery. Add to that fact that it was raining that evening. Apparently he left the house after I went to bed so I couldn't stop him and bring him back inside."
Herbert began playing guitar at 14. He co-founded ALL THAT REMAINS with frontman Phil Labonte in 1998.
ALL THAT REMAINS has released nine studio albums, a live CD/DVD, and has sold more than one million records worldwide. The band's new LP, "Victim Of The New Disease", arrived on November 9.
Herbert married Beth in 2004.
The surviving members of ALL THAT REMAINS — Philip Labonte (lead vocals), Mike Martin (guitar), Jason Costa (drums) and Aaron Patrick (bass, backing vocals) — will embark on the previously scheduled European tour with SEVENDUST this December. Guitar virtuoso and YouTube personality Jason Richardson (ALL SHALL PERISH, CHELSEA GRIN, BORN OF OSIRIS) has come on board and will fill in on the upcoming trek.

WARKINGS Streaming New Song "The Last Battle"Napalm Records will release Warkings' debut album, Reborn, on November 16th. Pre-order the album here, and listen to the album track "The Last Battle", below.
The Warkings story: Four kings of war were knocking on Valhalla’s door to spend eternity in the realms of the gods. While waiting for admission, they told each other about the heroic deeds they survived in their lifetimes. Secretly listening to their stories, Odin decided that all living human beings on the Earth should know about these true stories of war and heroism. So he is about to send them back with the mission to spread the stories of their battles upon mankind. The Warkings were born and pure and unadulterated heavy metal became their religion.
Odin chose Napalm Records as the perfect platform for the Warkings to spread their stories. We were told to receive new information about these warriors every Wednesday from now on. To follow his order to spread their message, we launched the Warkings-Wednesday. On this day, we will bring Odin’s word to the world.

FOREIGNER's Original Members Reunite On Stage In Los Angeles (Video)Legendary rockers FOREIGNER played the first of four "Double Vision: Then And Now" concerts Friday night (November 9) at Los Angeles's Microsoft Theater Friday. The show, which marked the 40th anniversary of FOREIGNER's second album, "Double Vision", featured all current bandmembers plus the original musicians who helped to put the iconic group on the map more than forty years ago. Singer Lou Gramm, drummer Dennis Elliott, keyboardist Al Greenwood, guitarist/saxophonist Ian McDonald and bassist Rick Wills joined Mick Jones and FOREIGNER to rock through some of the best-selling songs from the band's albums.
The setlist was as follows:
Current lineup without Mick Jones:
01. Cold As Ice
02. Head Games
03. Waiting For A Girl Like You
04. That Was Yesterday
05. Headknocker
06. Urgent
07. Juke Box Hero
lassic FOREIGNER lineup:
08. Feels Like The First Time
09. Double Vision
10. Blue Morning, Blue Day
11. Long, Long Way From Home
12. Dirty White Boy
Current and classic members performing together:
13. I Want To Know What Love Is
14. Hot Blooded
Asked by USA Today why he chose to commemorate "Double Vision" with these reunion shows, Mick said: "Well, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the band's foundation, I wanted to do something special and a little unexpected. We did a couple of shows earlier in the year together and everybody hit it off so well. My two lead singers, Lou Gramm and [current frontman] Kelly Hansen, really hit it off like a house on fire, and the rest of the guys were happy to be a part of it. It was very emotional. It brought up a lot of stuff from the past, but it just felt natural and we fell right back into it."
Gramm said that it wasn't hard to get all the guys back together. "Everybody was actually pretty boned up on their instruments, and with a little bit of practice, it was sounding good," he said. "Everyone was anxious within reason. We didn't want to make more of it than what it was, but it ends up being a lot of fun."
FOREIGNER's first-ever ticketed reunion concert featuring all original members took place in August at The Sturgis Buffalo Chip in Sturgis, South Dakota.
Gramm and Jones's June 2013 performance of "I Want To Know What Love Is" and "Juke Box Hero" at the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in New York City marked the first time the pair performed together in a decade after Gramm left FOREIGNER for a second time. Hansen has fronted the group since 2005. Jones is the sole remaining founding member in FOREIGNER's current lineup.

VENOM To Release 'Storm The Gates' Album In DecemberBlack metal pioneers VENOM will release their 15th full-length studio album, "Storm The Gates", on December 14 through Spinefarm Records. The follow-up to 2015's "From The Very Depths" will be made available on CD and digital formats, with vinyl and cassette versions to arrive in early 2019.
Frontman Conrad "Cronos" Lant commented: "Get ready for another killer album, packed full of awesome riffs and screaming mayhem.
"We've been hard at work for over two years to make sure this new release raises the bar, to deliver a demonic mix of old and new.
"Get ready to lay down your souls, legions!"
b>"Storm The Gates" track listing:
01. Bring Out Your Dead
02. Notorious
03. I Dark Lord
04. 100 Miles To Hell
05. Dark Night (Of The Soul)
06. Beaten To A Pulp
07. Destroyer
08. The Mighty Have Fallen
09. Over My Dead Body
10. Suffering Dictates
11. We The Loud
12. Immortal
13. Storm The Gates
Last year, Cronos spoke to Metal Rules about the evolution of VENOM's songwriting. "The thing is we, as a band, we are evolving the black metal thing," he explained. 'Because, for me, it has to be exciting, it has to be new, it has to be dangerous. It has to stay in motion. It has to make me excited to do it. I couldn't just do the 'Welcome To Hell' night after night; it would be too boring. So, they know I like to be challenged. I need to create new shit, and I like to twist VENOM a lot and cut and pull it. I like to create an album that people kind of go, 'That wasn't expected.'
"For a band that's been going this long, if we're not going to continue to evolve, I think we're dead," he continued. "But you don't want to forget where you came from. [You want] to be able to play songs from back in the day, so that the people in the audience can hear them and hear the song that they love — played the way that it was played. I think it is special."
Cronos went on to say that his current VENOM bandmates — guitarist Rage, a.k.a. Stuart Dixon, and drummer Danté, a.k.a. Danny Needham — "have got two [VENOM] albums under the belt now [2011's 'Fallen Angels' and 'From the Very Depths'] that they can call their own. So, when they play their songs up on that stage, they can push and pull the bits they want, and they can play them in their style. But when we play the old songs, we kind of try to play them as near to the original we possibly can so, that the people in the audience hear a great version of the song rather than a changed version of the song. Because why change a great song?"
VENOM is not to be confused with VENOM INC., the band featuring original VENOM guitarist Jeff "Mantas" Dunn alongside ex-VENOM bassist/vocalist Tony "Demolition Man" Dolan.
"From The Very Depths" was released in January 2015 via Spinefarm. 11

Sweden's MISERY LOVES CO. Covers GARBAGE's 'Only Happy When It Rains'Who does not remember GARBAGE's "Only Happy When It Rains"? The song was one of the big hits of the '90s and the video was shown on MTV around the clock. Now the Swedish industrial pioneers MISERY LOVES CO. have released the song in a pitch-black version that will be as loved by the metal audience as the goths.
With its unique sound, MISERY LOVES CO. seems to be able to take on any song and make it sound like it was its very own. Just remember "Complicated Game" (XTC) from the "Not Like Them" album or "The Drowning Man" (THE CURE) that the band performed at the Sweden Rock Festival this summer.
Now it's time for GARBAGE to be filtered through the group's carbon-black filter. The result? Well, it's by far MISERY LOVES CO.'s all-time most exciting cover. This is a version that requires to be played on the biggest scenes and it will surely bring the goths, the metalheads and the alternative rock audiences to their knees.
"Only Happy When It Rains" was mixed by Roberto Laghi (IN FLAMES) in Gothenburg and mastered by Richard Sporrong in Uppsala. Artwork was created by Jerker Josefsson, with the cover photo by Patrik Wirén.
b>MISERY LOVES CO. released its self-titled debut in 1995 (a year earlier in Scandinavia) and soon became one of Europe's most talked-about up-and-coming metal bands. With songs like "My Mind Still Speaks" and "Kiss Your Boots", they managed to mix aggressiveness with melody and innovativeness with an impressive songwriting. Both audience and critics took the band to their hearts, and perhaps Metal Hammer said it best: "If someone were to prescribe a formula for how metal should sound in 1995, it could be described in three words — MISERY LOVES CO."
Tours and shows in both Europe and the U.S. followed with such acts as SLAYER, MACHINE HEAD, DEFTONES and PARADISE LOST. MISERY LOVES CO.'s second release, "Not Like Them", earned the band a Grammis (Swedish Grammy equivalent) in the "Best Hard Rock/Metal" category in 1998. This time Patrik's lyrics were even more personal, which is why he, to this day, gets response from people telling him how songs like "Prove Me Wrong" helped them get through bad times.
The year 2000 saw the band release its last album, "Your Vision Was Never Mine To Share", which was a huge step for the band musically. The dynamics of songs like the title track and "On Top of The World" were more impressive than ever and the band progressed in a very exciting artistic direction. Still, just a few months later, the band split up and the world became an inferior place.
Until 2016, when MISERY LOVES CO. returned to the live stage at Gefle Metal Festival (Sweden), Bloodstock (U.K.) and Brutal Assault (Czech Republic) and has since then done club shows in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Uppsala. In 2017 they also boarded the world's biggest metal cruise, 70000 Tons Of Metal.
A year after the band's return, the instant MISERY classic "Would You?" was released digitally in June 2017. In March 2018, another song — "Suburban Breakdown" — hit the digital platforms all over the world. This summer, the band played a much-talked-about show at the Sweden Rock Festival and more concerts will follow in Sweden around the release of "Only Happy When It Rains". A full album is planned for 2019.

JOEY JORDISON Has 'A Ton Of SLIPKNOT Demos' At HomeEx-SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison has told Metal Hammer magazine that he has a pile of unreleased demos at home that were originally meant for his former band.
He said: "I have a ton of SLIPKNOT demos that I have at home. Maybe some day they'll surface, maybe they'll never be heard, but I don't translate them to any other band; they still stay in the SLIPKNOT safe. I won't use them for anyone else besides SLIPKNOT, if that ever happens again."
Asked if he still writes music in the style of SLIPKNOT, Jordison replied: "It depends. I play guitar all the time and I'm constantly thinking of songs. I sleep music. I wake up and there's a riff in my head, every step I take there's a riff, a beat, or something. That's the way a musician is. You're isolated in a weird way because music is haunting you as much as it's loving you. It's non-stop. Every time I pick up a guitar, I come up with different riffs [for] all different bands I've been in. Sometimes there is a song or riff that could only belong with SLIPKNOT and I just can't use it for anything else, regardless of whatever happened. It just stays in the bank and I can't use it for anything else; I just won't do it."
Jordison, singer Corey Taylor and percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan were interviewed for the new issue of Metal Hammer, which celebrates the 10th anniversary of SLIPKNOT's fourth studio album, "All Hope Is Gone".
b>SLIPKNOT announced its split with Jordison in December 2013 but did not disclose the reasons for his exit. The drummer subsequently issued a statement saying that he did not quit the group.
Back in 2014, Taylor told Metal Hammer that firing Jordison after 18 years was "one of the hardest decisions" the group ever made, adding that Joey is "in a place in his life" which is "not where we are."
SLIPKNOT's current drummer is Jay Weinberg, son of longtime Bruce Springsteen drummer Max Weinberg.
Joey recently revealed that he is working on his first-ever book.
The 43-year-old musician just completed a European tour with the international death metal supergroup SINSAENUM. 5

THE GHOST NEXT DOOR Feat. Ex-SKINLAB Guitarist GARY WENDT: 'A Feast For The Sixth Sense' Album Due Next YearRipple Music has announced the signing of veteran Bay Area metallers THE GHOST NEXT DOOR. The band's new album, "A Feast For The Sixth Sense", will be released in early 2019 on deluxe vinyl, CD and digital.
Living in a new home in Berkeley, California, singer/guitarist Gary Wendt, a former student of guitar legend Joe Satriani, found an abandoned acoustic and began toying with the idea of a new band.
Unexpectedly, the name came first, when he learned he was living next to a supposedly haunted house where a glowing orb was rumored to roam during the night.
The new band, with no members and no music yet, had a name: THE GHOST NEXT DOOR.
b>Gary grew up in the infamous Bay Area music scene as a founding member of crossover legends SACRILEGE B.C. and alt-metal champions RELEASE. He spent a year recording and touring with SKINLAB before embarking on the development of his own musical vehicle.
Emerging from the desire to marry the dark melancholy of '80s/'90s alternative with the aggression and drive of Bay Area metal, THE GHOST NEXT DOOR blends styles and influences from punk to jazz, progressive to sadcore, and modern rock to thrash into meter-bending, riff-driven heaviness fueled by abrasively honest lyrics.
Following the release of their 2015 debut on Belgium's Mausoleum Records to critical worldwide response, the band set to work on their follow-up album, now set for release in early 2019 on Ripple Music.
THE GHOST NEXT DOOR gigs tirelessly out of a compulsion to create and perform their expressive take on modern metal. Gary has also been a featured artist in the "Rob Flynn And Friends" performance series, along with members of METALLICA, SLAYER, EXODUS, TESTAMENT, DEATH ANGEL and MACHINE HEAD.
Of the band and forthcoming record, Gary says: "We're not interested in trends. A song is born from a single idea, but always mixed with some alternative sensibilities. Fusion, extreme, shoegaze, thrash we write the unexpected."
Ripple Music CEO Todd Severin gushes: "Man, do these guys rock! Perhaps not the sound you'd immediately associate with Ripple, but their doom-laden metal simply destroyed Ripple HQ and left us mesmerized!"
THE GHOST NEXT DOOR is:
Gary Wendt: Guitars/Vocals
Aaron Asghari: Guitars
Sebastien Castelain: Drums
Noah Whitfield: Bass

NEW YEARS DAY Releases New Song 'Skeletons' Off Forthcoming AlbumNEW YEARS DAY has just dropped a new song, "Skeletons", off the band's forthcoming full-length album, which is slated for release in the spring.
Said NEW YEARS DAY frontwoman Ash Costello: "I have been working for over a year, constantly writing new music.
"We want everyone to know that a new wave of music will be coming to you soon and I thought our new song 'Skeletons' would be a great intro to the new world of my band, NEW YEARS DAY. More than anything, I wanted the era of NEW YEARS DAY to be rock that is also fun to listen to.
"'Skeletons' is about wanting to know all the parts of someone, even the parts they deem to be negative. It's saying that when you are into someone, you're into ALL of them, and want to love the dark in them as well as the light. It's a fun rock song with a heavy riff intro, a bouncy lead vocal line and a soaring chorus."
he Anaheim, California rockers will be hitting the road with HALESTORM and IN THIS MOMENT starting on November 16 in Norfolk, Virginia and wrapping on December 16 in Saint Petersburg, Florida. The band will be hitting major markets such as New York City, Dallas, Orlando, Detroit, and more. This will conclude a full year of touring with the all-female-fronted U.S. tour.
Formed in Orange County, California by Costello, NEW YEARS DAY shook the scene with its Century Media debut, "Victim To Villain", in 2013 featuring the breakout single "Angel Eyes". The five-piece later cemented its place in the heavy music landscape with the "Epidemic" EP and critically acclaimed "Malevolence" full-length in 2015, clocking more than 20 million views on YouTube. As new challenges and new worlds beckon, the band released its most recent EP, "Diary Of A Creep", in January to pay tribute to the artists who shaped them thus far.

AEROSMITH Guitarist JOE PERRY Releases 'Quake' Video Feat. Vocals By GARY CHERONEJoe Perry — legendary guitarist, co-founding member, principal songwriter and co-producer of AEROSMITH — has just announced a new single, video and tour dates with his AEROSMITH bandmate Brad Whitford and Gary Cherone of EXTREME. The music video for "Quake" is available below.
"Quake" featuring Cherone is being released today (Friday, November 9). The hard-charging track with Perry's killer riffs and Cherone's gutsy vocals is from soon-to-be-released vinyl-only version of Perry's "Sweetzerland Manifesto" (Roman Records) and was debuted live earlier this year (January 16) when Cherone joined Perry at the latter's two-hour plus set at The Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The "Quake" video features Perry — the essence of cool — alone with his guitar and amp, firing up the song alongside the lyrics and a super-hip dancing couple who embody the tune's freewheeling rock and roll spirit. It was directed by Joe's son Roman Perry.
Perry and his band will perform the song live on his upcoming headlining dates, which kick off November 30 in Iowa and include stops in New York, Detroit, Philadelphia and more before wrapping up with three Los Angeles-area shows. These performances follow gigs in April where Perry debuted his new touring band featuring Whitford and Cherone taking on lead vocals.
Along with choice cuts from his catalog of solo records, Joe will be performing rarely played AEROSMITH classics from the band's early records, including "Toys In The Attic", "Get Your Wings" and "Rocks", among others.
our dates:
Nov. 30 - Sioux City, IA - Anthem at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
Dec. 01 - West Dundee, IL - RocHaus
Dec. 02 - Detroit, MI - Crowfoot Ballroom
Dec. 04 - New York, NY - PlayStation Theater
Dec. 05 - Philadelphia, PA - Electric Factory

Watch PHILIP ANSELMO Perform Mini-Set Of PANTERA Classics In LubbockFan-filmed video footage of PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS, the project led by the former PANTERA and current DOWN/SUPERJOINT frontman, performing a mini-set of PANTERA classics on November 2 at Jake's Sports Café And Backroom in Lubbock, Texas can be seen below.
The Lubbock concert took place four months after a video message from Anselmo was played at the public memorial for PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott. It was the first time the singer had publicly commented on his former bandmate's death.
The event, which was held on July 1 at Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas, included emotional tributes from a number of Abbott's fellow musicians, some of whom appeared in person while others sent short video speeches expressing their affection for the fallen PANTERA and HELLYEAH drummer.
Anselmo's tribute was a few seconds long and saw him speaking in his trademark deep voice. "Vince, always have love in my heart for you, man," he said. "Rest in peace."
b>Vinnie Paul and his brother "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott co-founded PANTERA. When PANTERA broke up in 2003, they formed DAMAGEPLAN. On December 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by a troubled schizophrenic who believed that the members of PANTERA were stealing his thoughts.
Up until his death, Vinnie remained on non-speaking terms with Anselmo.
Vinnie and Anselmo's relationship got more acrimonious when Vinnie indirectly blamed Philip for Dimebag's death, suggesting that some remarks the vocalist had made about Dimebag in print just weeks earlier might have incited Dimebag's killer.
Vinnie passed away on June 22 at his home in Las Vegas at the age of 54.
The PANTERA and HELLYEAH drummer was buried on June 30 next to his brother and their mother, Carolyn, at Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, Texas.
PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS' sophomore album, "Choosing Mental Illness As A Virtue", was released in January via Anselmo's Housecore Records in the U.S. and Season Of Mist in other parts of the world. The disc is the follow-up to PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS' debut, "Walk Through Exits Only", which came out in 2013 to mostly positive reviews.
