MARTY FRIEDMAN - "Dragon Mistress" From Upcoming One Bad M.F. Live!! Album Streaming

MARTY FRIEDMAN - "Dragon Mistress" From Upcoming One Bad M.F. Live!! Album Streaming

Marty Friedman's presence in the world of music, the world of guitar, and Japanese pop culture is mystifying, bizarre, and nothing short of inspiring. His 14th solo album, One Bad M.F. Live!! - set for release October 19th on Prosthetic Records - is an all-out celebration of his music in its rawest form. Recorded live during his 2018 Wall Of Sound tour on its final show in Mexico City at Centro Cultural on April 14th, 2018, One Bad M.F. Live!! is chock full of his own brand of “feelgood aggression.”

Check out "Dragon Mistress" from the album, below:

Friedman will celebrate the release of One Bad M.F. Live!! in Los Angeles, CA at the Viper Room on October 21st. It's the only US show he will do in 2018, but at this show, he will officially announce the details of a full scale 2019 US and Europe tour. Tickets are now on sale here.

As seen in the first live music video “Whiteworm” (watch below), Friedman and his band - Kiyoshi (bass), Jordan Ziff (guitar), Chargeeee (drums) - are all smiles and are in constant interaction with the audience, pouncing on the rhythms and playing such addictive melodies that one doesn't miss a vocalist for a moment.

“This live album is a tip of the hat to the live albums that blew my mind when I was a kid,” explains Friedman, “the musical content itself is modern and atomic-powered, but the presentation is decidedly old school. The pacing of the show, the audience participation stuff, the special live arrangements of the songs, these are the things that got me all jacked up as a kid. I like to give the audience the feeling that they are really getting something unique, something that only happens at THEIR show, not just a recital of the songs exactly as they know them. There are lots of happy accidents, once in a lifetime ad libs, things that could have only happened because we were high on that particular audience's energy.”

One Bad M.F. Live!! is the follow-up to Wall Of Sound, which was released in 2017 on Prosthetic Records, and debuted on Billboard’s “Heatseekers” chart at #12. “I've had albums that have charted higher, sold more, and got more attention over my career, “says Friedman, “but Wall Of Sound is the album I've been striving to make ever since I picked up a guitar. I have an almost unhealthy amount of pride towards that album. The thrill I get from playing the Wall Of Sound stuff live is something that I wanted documented, and that's what One Bad M.F. Live!! is.”

Fluent in Japanese, Friedman's overwhelming love of Japanese music and the Japanese language found him moving to Tokyo in 2003. It is there where his career took off in very unexpected ways. His appearance as the star of a new TV comedy, Hebimeta-san (“Mr. Heavy Metal”) and its spinoff, Rock Fujiyama, which ran for six seasons, propelled him into the living rooms of Japan's mainstream. Currently he is a constant fixture on Japanese television (appearing on hundreds of network programs of all types, and as the face of long running campaigns for Fanta/Coca Cola, Sumitomo Bank, Suntory etc.), as well as appearing in major motion pictures. He is also the author of two hardcover books in Japanese detailing his unusual views on the current Japanese music scene, as well as two best-selling manga-related books, which are both in their eighth editions now.

Despite Marty Friedman's flourishing television career, he still considers his music his “only real job,” often performing at the Tokyo Dome, Budokan, Ajinomoto Stadium, the Saitama Super Arena and other top venues with his own music, as well as guesting with other artists. Friedman has not only held top charting positions with his own albums in Japan, but has also collaborated on and produced several chart topping hits with the biggest names in J-pop and J-rock (Momoiro Clover Z, Sound Horizon, Man With A Mission, Crossfaith, SMAP, AKB48, NEWS, and several others).

In 2017, the Japanese Government appointed Marty Friedman as an Ambassador of Japan Heritage, for a term of three years through the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Along with J-pop icon Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, baseball legend Hideki Matsui, and four others, he’s the first foreigner ever to receive this title. He performed the Opening Ceremony at the Tokyo Marathon in both 2017 and 2018, again the first foreigner to do so. His most recent collaboration with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra is the government sponsored Japan Heritage Theme Song he released in 2018. In 2018, Young Guitar Magazine honoured him with a 175-page special edition devoted only to Friedman and his inimitable playing style.

Not one to slow down and take any breaks, Friedman is also currently in the fourth year of filming a documentary, and his biography is set to be published soon.

Now with the release of One Bad M.F. Live!!, the combination of his other worldly experiences culminate into an avalanche of emotion, in his immediately recognizable style. “I like to lose myself in giving energy to the audience,” Marty Friedman continues. “I want everyone to go home feeling like they were injected with a shot of positive vibes. I think we captured that on the record.”

The album will be available on all digital platforms, compact disc, and as a 2LP gatefold set with glow-in-the-dark wax as one variant and black sparkle with clear splatter as the other. Pre-order here.

CORPSESSED - Impetus Of Death Due Out In November

CORPSESSED - Impetus Of Death Due Out In November

Finland's Corpsessed will break a four-year silence this fall with the release of Impetus Of Death. Featuring eight crushing tracks of obscure death metal, Impetus Of Death is due out November 23rd on Dark Descent Records.

Many things have changed since the 2014 release of the band's first full-length album, Abysmal Thresholds. Main composer and guitarist Matti Mäkelä finally found some time to resurrect his funeral doom project Tyranny and release one crusher of an album (also on Dark Descent) in 2015. A year later, Corpsessed found a new bassist in Tuomas Kulmala (Lie In Ruins, Perdition Winds). And over the course of four long years, Corpsessed completed their second full-length Impetus Of Death, an album that manages to top it its predecessor in terms of heaviness and brutality while taking their epic sound a step further. The cover art and tracklisting are as follows:

"Impetus Of The Dead"
"Sortilege"
"Endless Plains Of Dust"
"Graveborne"
"Paroxysmal"
"Forlorn Burial"
"Begetter Of Doom"
"Starless Event Horizon"

"We've never been that fast composers" admits Mäkelä. "But the atmosphere must be there, the riffs must be killer and everything has to be top notch. Plus, we knew we needed to raise the bar this time. So all the band members contributed and we had three separate demo sessions of almost all the songs. It was quite time consuming but invaluable while thinking of the big picture, even more, so we've once again recorded the album ourselves."

The recordings took place from November 2017 to February 2018 in their rehearsal place, with extra help from their label-mates Lie In Ruins and Desolate Shrine, Dan Lowndes from Resonance Sound Studio took care of the mastering last April.

The album's title was inspired by the impression that, indeed, it is "death itself that sets things in motion, be it the fear or lurking presence of your own demise, or the death of a loved one. It can be seen as a force that moves us and sets a timeline for our very existence. This you can view as either something very grim and nihilistic, or on the contrary, the very thing that gives your life a meaning or the power to do anything. To create you must also destroy - 'solve et coagula' right? - where death gives birth to something new.... This is life, and death is an essential part of it. And the music we play, is death metal so what's more fitting than this?"

Impetus Of Death is completed by a fitting and disturbing artwork by Mattias Frisk from Vanhelgd whom Matti met in 2015 in Copenhagen while playing the Heavy Days In Doom Town fest with Profetus.

"We told him to do what he felt would fit the music, but devoid of the usual clichés like mystic figures in robes, goat-headed priests and nude girls on altars," recalls Mäkelä. "We also wanted it to be in colors this time around as all our previous covers were in black and white."

Simply put, the second full-length from Corpsessed is brutal; although it doesn't feel the need to break the 250 BPM barrier to show how tough it is. Still rooted in the classic sound of the early 90's yet with its own doomy touch, it's really Impetus Of Death's uncanny ability to bring forth a quite unique form of creepiness, almost cinematic in places and quite claustrophobic that sets them apart. As Matti puts it best, "What can I say? We like to keep things evil and ominous."

PAUL STANLEY On KISS's Final Tour: 'We Want To Go Around And High-Five Everybody Around The World'

PAUL STANLEY On KISS's Final Tour: 'We Want To Go Around And High-Five Everybody Around The World'

KISS frontman Paul Stanley spoke to the "Rolling Stone Music Now" podcast about the band's recent announcement that it will embark on its "farewell" tour, dubbed "One Last Kiss: End Of The Road World Tour", in 2019. Asked if there was an actual discussion where he and Gene Simmons sat down and said, "Listen, it's time to talk about how to close the book," Stanley responded: "[It happened] just like that. [Laughs] Just like that. At some point, maybe you want to address the elephant in the room, you know? It only makes sense because of the nature of what we are. We're not a band of guys in jeans and sneakers, standing on stage, playing. We're athletes. We're Superman playing a guitar. So, yeah, at some point you look at each other and go, 'How long can we do this the way we want to do it, and how long can we do it, and love it?' If you're smart, you plan so that you can make the most of something, rather than just kind of say it off into the sunset. I didn't want that to happen. I don't want to suddenly, after a tour, go, 'Let's call it a day,' or have a year go by and we go, 'Nah,' and another year goes by and we go, 'Nah.' No, I'd rather take the victory lap. We beat the odds. We kicked everybody's ass. We outlived the naysayers. We want to go around and high-five everybody around the world. And that'll take a while."

Asked what he would like the last song that he plays on stage with KISS to be, Stanley said: "I'd like it to be really long. I would imagine the last song we'll play is 'Rock And Roll All Nite'. That is so anthemic, and it connected to us in that it really became a rallying cry and a battle cry, so I will imagine that will be it, and one minute I'll be smiling, and the next minute I'll be crying, and that's the meaning of bittersweet. It will touch all the emotions and press all the buttons."

Stanley also talked about his previous claim that KISS can one day carry on without any original members, including him and Simmons. "I can imagine a KISS show, because I think at some point, KISS transcends its members, and already has, so could I see that happening at some point?" he said. "I could, but nothing that I can foresee in the near future. But why deny the world something that’s that awesome?"

Rumors of KISS's final run of live shows gained strength several months ago following the news that the band was attempting to trademark the phrase "The End Of The Road." An application from KISS was filed in February to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, which means that the band could use it in connection with "live performances by a musical band."

b>Simmons recently told Sweden's Expressen newspaper that KISS's next tour will last three years. Calling it the band's "most spectacular tour ever," the bassist/vocalist added that the trek will make stops on "all continents."

MACHINE HEAD's PHIL DEMMEL And DAVE MCCLAIN To Leave Band After One Final U.S. Tour

MACHINE HEAD's PHIL DEMMEL And DAVE MCCLAIN To Leave Band After One Final U.S. Tour

San Francisco Bay Area metal titans MACHINE HEAD have announced that their upcoming U.S. tour will be the last one to feature the band's current lineup: Robb Flynn (guitar, vocals), Phil Demmel (guitar), Dave McClain (drums) and Jared MacEachern (bass).

Flynn broke the news of MACHINE HEAD's plans in a 10-minute Facebook Live video in which he revealed that Demmel left the band on Wednesday (September 26), followed by McClain's exit a day later. "Jared kind of quit, but didn't know if he was quitting for sure," Robb added.

According to Robb, the fall 2018 MACHINE HEAD tour "is still going to go on." He explained: "We have all agreed to all make this a celebration of our music and this era of the band.'

As for what caused Demmel and McClain to want to leave MACHINE HEAD, Flynn said: "We have grown apart as people. Musically, we've grown apart. I have held on too tight to the reins of this band, and I have suffocated those guys.

I've got some rough edges," he admitted. "I'm kind a barnacle. And those rough edges have given us the success we have, but they've also hurt the people around me.

"I've got a lot of drive, but I've got a lot of anger and rage. And that drive of mine has alienated folks in the band."

Flynn, who is the sole remaining original member of MACHINE HEAD, insisted that he doesn't hold any grudges against his soon-to-be-former bandmates.

"I ask that you respect Phil and Dave's decision, as I respect their decision," he said. "I wanna say that I'm honored and grateful for everything that they've contributed to MACHINE HEAD, which is a lot. 15 years with Phil, 23 years with Dave."

Flynn went on to say that he doesn't "know what the future holds." He added: "We're all a little scared. I'm scared, and they're scared. But if you're looking for a drummer or a guitar player, you can find no better people to have."

Personally, Flynn plans to "do a little bit of soul searching here in my life and take a long, hard look at myself, as I've done in the past. I've done 20 years of therapy at this point, and apparently it wasn't enough," he laughed. "I guess I need to do about 20 more."

According to Flynn, MACHINE HEAD's upcoming tour will be "a celebration of this era of music and this lineup. And that may be the best era of MACHINE HEAD ever, and may be the best lineup ever, and may be the best lineup that this band ever has. And we're gonna end it on a positive note, and we're gonna end it on a classy note."

He continued: "It's the end of an area. I did a lot of crying yesterday and kind of felt like I got ran over by a truck."

Robb said that he spoke to Jared this morning, and that the bassist "actually says now that he's gonna stick around, and he wants to continue on, which made me happy."

MACHINE HEAD's final tour with the current lineup will kick off on October 4 in Sacramento, California and conclude on November 24 in Santa Cruz, California.

The band's latest album, "Catharsis", was made available in January via Nuclear Blast. The follow-up to 2014's "Bloodstone & Diamonds" was produced by Flynn and was recorded, mixed, and co-produced by Zack Ohren (FALLUJAH, ALL SHALL PERISH) at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California.

Video Premiere: TRIVIUM's 'The Wretchedness Inside'

Video Premiere: TRIVIUM's 'The Wretchedness Inside'

"The Wretchedness Inside", the new video from Florida metallers TRIVIUM, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's latest album, "The Sin And The Sentence", which was released in October 2017 via Roadrunner. The disc was recorded with producer Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD, GOJIRA) at Santa Ana, California's Hybrid Studios. The LP features the band's first recordings with new drummer Alex Bent, who joined the band in 2016.

TRIVIUM frontman Matt Heafy spoke to the "That's Not Metal Podcast" about the fact that it has been difficult for the band's core trio — Heafy, guitarist Corey Beaulieu and bassist Paolo Gregoletto — to keep a drummer in the last few years, prior to the addition of Bent.

"The drumming is what the band is built upon, it's the foundation for which all the music is built upon, and if you don't have a strong foundation for a house or a building, it eventually collapses," Matt explained. "And I'm so thankful that the stars finally aligned, after eight records, to find the guy that we needed to find. And I think that when people hear Alex, it's not a question of 'Why?' It's more like an observation, like, 'Oh, I see you did it again, but I know why.' Because he's that freakin' good."

TRIVIUM will continue its successful "The Sin And The Sentence" world tour with another leg of North American dates this fall. The bill will feature very special guest AVATAR and LIGHT THE TORCH. The 25-date trek kicks off on October 3 in Tampa, Florida and runs through November 3 in Berkeley, California, with several stops in Canada.

SACROSANCT Feat. Former PESTILENCE Guitarist RANDY MEINHARD: 'Necropolis' Album Due In November

SACROSANCT Feat. Former PESTILENCE Guitarist RANDY MEINHARD: 'Necropolis' Album Due In November

German/Dutch progressive metallers SACROSANCT, founded by former PESTILENCE guitarist Randy Meinhard, will release their fourth album, "Necropolis", on November 30 via ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records. The disc was engineered, mixed and mastered by Max Morton of Morton Studios, who has also remastered the entire SACROSANCT back catalog. A prolific professional with a broad clientele, Max has worked with a wide variety of acts, including prominent Ukranian metalcore combo JINJER. The objective with "Necropolis" was to record a classic, analog-sounding album using modern technologies, and at the same time avoid any modern metal clichés.

The epic cover art for "Necropolis" was designed by Giannis Nakos based on the band's ideas, and perfectly portrays the album's dark subject matter. It prominently features SACROSANCT's new mascot, the Weeping Angel — a guardian and an avenger of injustice.

"Necropolis" track listing:

01. The New Age Of Fear

02. My Last White Light

03. The Grim Sleeper

04. Only One God

05. Melancholy

06. Clouds Obscured The Sun

07. NecroPolice

08. The Pain Still Lasts

hile "Necropolis" bears all of the hallmarks and intricacies that characterize SACROSANCT, it displays a more mature and focused songwriting approach. Songs like "The New Age Of Fear", "My Last White Light" and "Only One God" are lyrically thought-provoking, creating a brand of metal that still makes the band hard to categorize. Like its predecessor, "Tragic Intense", which was released in 1993, "Necropolis" places a strong emphasis on melancholy melodies and clean vocals, but also incorporates many harmony guitar parts, faster tempos and some modern twists that mark the beginning of a new chapter for the band.

SACROSANCT will celebrate the release of "Necropolis" with a special party at Hypothalamus in Rheine, Germany, on Friday, November 30.

SACROSANCT is:

Richard F. Hesselink - vocals

Randy Meinhard (ex-PESTILENCE) - guitars

Christian Göwert - guitars

Kees Harrison (ex-SPHERE OF SOULS) - bass

Jonas Schütz - drums

SACROSANCT was formed in 1988 by guitarist Randy Meinhard and drummer Marco Foddis, who had learned to know each either while joining PESTILENCE. In 1990, SACROSANCT released its debut album, "Truth Is - What Is". The album is characterized by technically sophisticated thrash metal. The dual guitars create a straight as well as spherical and melodious tapestry of sound, interrupted by the tight drumming and the moaning, but angry and rude voice. Creative band head Randy Meinhard considered guitar duos of bands like QUEENSRŸCHE, EXODUS and IRON MAIDEN as a main influence, and Ace Frehley of KISS as initial spark.

SACROSANCT released its second album, "Recesses For The Depraved", in 1991. With a more edgy sound it was little melodious and spheric than the debut. For the album cover, SACROSANCT even managed to secure the rights for H.R. Giger's picture "Das Spiegelbild". When Giger died, 23 years later, Rolling Stone magazine stated "the disturbing Giger cover art accurately conveyed the savage nature of the music."

The third album, "Tragic Intense", was even more melodious and spherical than the debut. On the other hand, staccato parts are rarely on it. In an interview for the music mag Iron Pages, Randy Meinhard stated in 1993 that the dark basic mood is what we intended to do. It just should sound sinister. In that issue Markus Wosgien (Nuclear Blast) described the album as a mixture of thrash, doom and power metal, and classified it as a milestone in this genre.

Video Premiere: BEHEMOTH's 'Bartzabel'

Video Premiere: BEHEMOTH's 'Bartzabel'

"Bartzabel", the new video from Polish extreme metallers BEHEMOTH, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's new album, "I Loved You At Your Darkest", which will be released on October 5 via Nuclear Blast.

Mastermind Nergal comments: "'Bartzabel' is a song that came in the midst of a BEHEMOTH rehearsal... We had no structure, no vision — but piece by piece, it came to be, and we were extremely excited by the result. To us, it's the eye of the 'I Loved You At Your Darkest' storm: sonically calmer and slower than anything else on the record, but definitely one of the darkest!

"Lyrically, we (myself and Krzysztof Azarewicz) were inspired by Aleister Crowley's conjuration of the Spirit of Mars — which the video, by our trusted friends in Grupa 13, depicts beautifully... I may even go as far to say that it's my favorite BEHEMOTH video of all time! I hope you all enjoy it, and we look forward to 'I Loved You At Your Darkest''s launch this Friday!"

While "I Loved You At Your Darkest" certainly seems an unlikely title for a black metal band, its origin might surprise fans even more than the words themselves. "It's a verse from the Bible," Nergal reveals. "It's actually a quote from Jesus Christ himself. For BEHEMOTH to use it as the basis of our record, it's sacrilege to the extreme."

f course, BEHEMOTH is no stranger to blasphemy. Over the course of the last 27 years, they've pushed the boundaries of black metal and heresy alike. While anti-Christian sentiment might seem like stale bread where most metal bands are concerned, for BEHEMOTH such ideas represent a very real threat to their physical freedom. Time and again, the government of their native Poland has charged them with various "crimes" such as tearing up a bible onstage in 2007 and using the Polish coat of arms on a BEHEMOTH t-shirt in 2017. "Obviously, stuff like that can piss you off. But I think it's good to be pissed off," Nergal says with a laugh. "Anger can be a massive driving force, especially when you make extreme music. But politically and socially, Poland is a very disparate country. You can never feel totally safe here. That makes it easier for me to get inspiration. If I lived in Holland or Australia, I don't think I'd be doing what I do now. You can do or be anything you want there. I'm a huge fan of that kind of freedom, but I don't really have it here. Struggling with that on a daily basis makes me who I am, and fuels my passion for this music."

Nergal and his bandmates — Orion (bass) and Inferno (drums) — have channeled that passion into "I Loved You At Your Darkest". A crushing salvo of black metal majesty replete with hellish riffs, thundering drum cannonades and soaring liturgical choirs reminiscent of classic horror cinema, the album is also bejeweled with nimble-fingered rock guitar solos on songs like "God = Dog", "Ecclesia Diabolica Catholica" and "Sabbath Mater".

"I really wanted to redefine ourselves with this record," Nergal explains. "'I Loved You At Your Darkest' is a more dynamic record. It's extreme and radical on one hand, but it's also more rock-oriented than any other BEHEMOTH record."

Nergal doesn't view the heightened rock influence as a conscious creative decision so much as a renewed interest in the historical origins of the music he makes. "We don't give consideration to musical direction, we simply create what naturally comes to us," he says. "But 15 years ago, if you had asked me who I thought was the best band on the planet, I probably would have said MAYHEM or MORBID ANGEL. Today if you asked me, I'd say AC/DC. That should give you a clear indication of why this album is more rock-based. It all comes down to the songwriting."

Lyrically, "I Loved You At Your Darkest" revels in the kind of religious provocation that BEHEMOTH do best. "It's very religion-driven, maybe more than anything we've done before," Nergal offers. "But it's not just cheap goading. I believe this is some deeper metal language. It's art."

Unlike "The Satanist", which was primarily recorded in one studio, "I Loved You At Your Darkest" saw its production spread across Poland and the United States. It was produced by the bandmembers themselves, with drum co-production by Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES), mixing by Matt Hyde (SLAYER, CHILDREN OF BODOM) and mastering by Tom Baker (NINE INCH NAILS, MARILYN MANSON). Which is to say nothing of the 17-piece Polish orchestra arranged by Jan Stoklosa and engineered by Tomasz Budkiewicz. Or as Nergal sums it up: "Pretty much every instrument was recorded in a different studio, and a lot of amazing people were involved."

"I Loved You At Your Darkest" track listing:

Video Premiere: NAZARETH's 'Tattooed On My Brain'

Video Premiere: NAZARETH's 'Tattooed On My Brain'

NAZARETH's music video for the song "Tattooed On My Brain" can be seen below. The track is the title cut of the band's new album, which is scheduled for release on October 12 via Frontiers Music Srl,

"Tattooed On My Brain" is NAZARETH's 24th full-length album and the first to feature new vocalist Carl Sentance (ex-PERSIAN RISK).

NAZARETH bassist and founding member Pete Agnew says about the new album: "What I know and expect is that this record, because of our new lineup, will come under the highest scrutiny of any record in NAZARETH's history and after that, hopefully be judged as one of the best of NAZARETH's career.

"While there is always going to be hints of the classic NAZARETH sound on our albums, when you consider that all the musicians have been playing classic NAZARETH songs for most of their lives, what is fresh and inspired the new songs and new approach is the fact that we have a new singer: Carl Sentance.

You can change band members and still keep pretty much on the same road, but there is nothing that changes a band's approach so definitively as the sound, style and performance of a new frontman. It also influences the way the other guys write songs, because mostly when you write a song for the band, you have in mind whether it will suit your singer's style and how he'll sound singing it. And, of course, with Carl, we have not only a new singer but a great new songwriter as well, so the whole project was always going to be fresher than a new laid egg, given all these ingredients we had to work with. Tastes fantastic, by the way."

While it is difficult to sum up in few words the history and the influence on the history of rock that an act like NAZARETH has had, there is no doubt that they have left an indelible mark. The band originally formed in Dunfermline, Scotland in 1968, releasing their eponymous debut album in 1971. The band broke through to a larger audience when, after supporting DEEP PURPLE on tour, they released the Roger Glover-produced "Razamanaz" album in early 1973. A string of hit records, including "Loud 'N' Proud", "Rampant" and their biggest success, "Hair Of The Dog" (featuring the smash hits "Hair Of The Dog" and "Love Hurts") followed, cementing the band's legacy in the history of hard rock. NAZARETH continued on throughout the '80s and '90s, making new studio albums and touring the world.

In 2014, original singer Dan McCafferty had to leave the band for health reasons and with his blessing, Carl Sentance is now fronting the legendary band. Rejuvenated and as energetic as ever, NAZARETH is back with an album that firmly shows their roots, but also sees the band progressing forward and seeing the future.

SINBREED Feat. BLIND GUARDIAN, Ex-VICIOUS RUMORS Members: 'Pale-Hearted' Lyric Video

SINBREED, the German power metal band featuring BLIND GUARDIAN drummer Frederik Ehmke and ex-VICIOUS RUMORS singer Nick Holleman, will release its new album, "IV", on November 23 via Massacre Records. The disc was produced by Flo Laurin, mixed by Laurin and Markus Teske and mastered by Teske, all at Bazement Studios. The album's cover artwork was created by Alexander Schulz.

According to a press release, the new SINBREED bandmembers, Holleman and Spanish guitarist extraordinaire Manuel Seoane (MÄGO DE OZ), were involved in the songwriting process from the very beginning and have spiced things up a bit. Holleman impressively showcases what he has learned in the past years and proves that he is indeed one of the best in his field. THE NEW ROSES lead singer Timmy Rough is responsible for the sophisticated choir arrangements, which underline the powerful QUEEN-esque choirs you can hear on the album.

Earlier in the year, SINBREED parted ways with singer Herbie Langhans and has replaced him with Holleman.

Guitarist Marcus Siepen (BLIND GUARDIAN) left SINBREED in 2015, with Seoane joining the band after the release of the album "Shadows".

SAXON Singer Says All The Music For His Solo Album Has Been Written

SAXON Singer Says All The Music For His Solo Album Has Been Written

SAXON frontman Biff Byford is preparing to start recording his debut solo effort. He told Rock Bottom in a new interview that the music for the record is done, and he is presently working on the lyrics.

"I'm doing my solo album next, so that will be done in one period," he said (see video below). "We'll probably start that in January."

Asked if the solo LP will be musically along the same lines as SAXON, Biff said: "It'll be a bit similar, but not the same. There'll be a few surprises on there."

Byford also talked about the upcoming 40th anniversary of the release of SAXON's debut album. "We're gonna do some big shows for that [in 2019]," he said. The concerts will likely last for two hours with "quite a lot of stuff going on, screens and things, about the old days," he added. "A bit of a nostalgic anniversary, really — 40 years."

sked if any of SAXON's former members will be involved in the band's 40th-anniversary celebrations, Biff said: "Could be, could be. Might only be on screen, but, yeah, they'll be part of it."

This past April, Biff told "Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon" that he had seven songs ready for his his solo album, and described their musical direction as "probably" be "a bit more rock and roll, a bit more classic rock" than SAXON's recent output.

Although SAXON was formed in 1977, the band's debut LP didn't arrive until two years later.

Byford and guitarist Paul Quinn are the sole remaining original members in the group's current lineup, which issued its 22nd LP, "Thunderbolt", earlier this year.

Originally from South Yorkshire, England, SAXON has gone on to sell about 23 million albums and has produced such classic songs as "Denim And Leather", "Princess Of The Night", "Wheels Of Steel" and "Power And Glory".

In addition to Byford and Quinn, SAXON's current lineup includes bassist Nibbs Carter, guitarist Doug Scarratt and drummer Nigel Glockler.

SAXON is represented by X-ray Touring's Steve Strange, APA's Keith Naisbitt and Siren Artist Management's Adam Parsons.

Watch Former SLIPKNOT Drummer JOEY JORDISON Perform With SINSAENUM For First Time

Watch Former SLIPKNOT Drummer JOEY JORDISON Perform With SINSAENUM For First Time

SINSAENUM, the extreme death metal project featuring DRAGONFORCE bassist Frédéric Leclercq and former SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison, kicked off its first-ever tour on September 28 in Saint-Brieuc, France.

Fan-filmed video footage of the second show of the tour, which took place on September 29 at Flow in Paris, France can be seen below.

Regarding what fans can expect from a SINSAENUM live show, Jordison told What Culture: "We're gonna go out there with complete furiosity and deliver all the material from the three releases that we have now, and give the fans the best fucking show that we can. We have been waiting for a long time for this, so we want to meet as many fans as possible and give them the best show possible." Leclercq added: "We'll have some props with us onstage, but what really matters to us is the music."

Joey also talked about the SINSAENUM songwriting process, explaining: "Everything is exactly the way we imagined it, with Fred as the primary songwriter. We always entrust in Fred to be the one that brings the main riffs and then we work from there in the studio. It has to feel good to all of us. Our songs have to flow like a river, with different waves, and that's the main thing about SINSAENUM: even though we're, primarily, a black/death metal hybrid, the songwriting comes from rock, thrash, speed metal and death metal. Sometimes I don't think we make death metal or black metal; sometimes I think we’re just SINSAENUM. We are in those genres, but it comes from so many different areas." Frédéric added: "I've always wanted to have a death metal album out. It sounds selfish, but you make music for yourself. I would have chosen to make pop music if I wanted to please the masses, but music is catharsis for us, so SINSAENUM is a necessity."

b>SINSAENUM's latest album, "Repulsion For Humanity", was released on August 10 via earMUSIC.

With the help of Francis Caste on mixing duties, SINSAENUM sharpened their own sonic identity, far from the typical death or modern metal sound.

The cover artwork, created by none other than Travis Smith, matches the radical, violent and angry approach of the album.

Last November, SINSAENUM released the EP "Ashes", with Metal Hammer Germany declaring it to be a "rad sign of life" and Metal Hammer U.K. taking it one step further, saying, "Take that form into the studio for the second full-length and we could have a classic on our hands."

"Echoes Of The Tortured", SINSAENUM's first album, was nominated as "Best Debut" by Metal Hammer Germany and was praised worldwide as one of the freshest and finest approaches to death metal.

With these impressive credentials, it is hard not to label SINSAENUM a supergroup, since it embodies the joint venture of Leclercq and Jordison. The rest of the band is of no less importance and credibility — Sean Zatorsky (DÅÅTH, vocals), Stephane Buriez (LOUDBLAST, guitar), Heimoth (SETH, bass) and Attila Csihar (MAYHEM, vocals) – all of which are well respected in their fields – complete the ensemble, making SINSAENUM the epitome of premium-level heavy metal.

LION'S SHARE Releases New EP Featuring Re-Recording Of 'Sins Of A Father'

LION'S SHARE Releases New EP Featuring Re-Recording Of 'Sins Of A Father'

Swedish heavy metal band LION'S SHARE has made a new five-track EP available on streaming services and digital service providers.

"EP" is the follow-up to 2009's "Dark Hours" album and includes a re-recording of the LION'S SHARE classic "Sins Of A Father" — the opening track on the band's self-titled debut from 1995.

"It was a blast to revisit the song together with Andy Loos (bass) and Kay Backlund (keyboards), who also did the original version with me back in the day," says LION'S SHARE guitarist Lars Chriss. "Sure brought back a lot of good and crazy memories." The EP also features "Another Desire" and "The Lion's Trial", both previously only available as lyric videos.

LION'S SHARE lead singer Nils Patrik Johansson says: "Lars and I have always worked very well together, and at this point it feels the most natural to keep LION'S SHARE as a duo, with friends helping out wherever needed. We, of course, have Andy and Kay, but also my son Nils Fredrik Johansson helping out on drums. Actually, it's more or less the same team that did my solo album, 'Evil Deluxe', earlier this year, when I think about it."

dds Lars: "As a special bonus, we included two BLACK SABBATH covers, live from the 'Sweden Rock - Ronnie James Dio Tribute' in October 2010, where LION'S SHARE was the house band, if you will, with various guests coming up to do a song or two with us. It's taken directly from the eight-channel drum-monitor mixer, so it's 100% live without any chance to repair or edit. We think it captures the raw energy of the band in front of an absolutely brilliant crowd that night."

"EP" track listing:

01. Another Desire

02. The Lion's Trial

03. Sins Of A Father (2018 re-recording)

04. The Mob Rules (live from the "Sweden Rock - Ronnie James Dio Tribute" 2010)

ZEALOTRY To Release At The Nexus Of All Stillborn Worlds In December

ZEALOTRY To Release At The Nexus Of All Stillborn Worlds In December

Two years after their last full-length, Zealotry are back with their newest offering - and first with Unspeakable Axe Records - titled At The Nexus Of All Stillborn Worlds. The album will be released on December 7th. A promo video for the album's title track can be seen below:

This is progressive death metal at its most uncompromising; dense with intricate riffs, elaborate bass lines, mind-melting lead guitar work and more. Clean choral vocals add a Timeghoul-ish aspect to certain songs; in other places, bewildering effects occasionally will warp a track into an aural acid trip. Elaborate structures occasionally peel back to reveal a Chasm-inspired melodic development.

Featuring a member of Chthe'ilist and influenced by a broad palette of death metal explorers including At The Gates, Obliveon, Brutality, and Atheist, At The Nexus Of Stillborn Worlds is a dizzying new peak in Zealotry's 13-year history. Experience eight tracks and nearly 43 minutes of some of the most dense and rewarding music death metal has to offer, on CD, cassette and digital platforms from Unspeakable Axe Records. Look for pre-orders to be available next week.

Tracklisting:

"At The Nexus Of All Stillborn Worlds"
"Accursed"
"Lethe's Shroud"
"Primus Venatoris"
"The Hole"
"Universal Deceit"
"The Sky Bleeds Nightmares"
"Irredeemable"

THE THREE TREMORS Feat. TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS, SEAN PECK And HARRY CONKLIN: Video Of Athens Concert

THE THREE TREMORS Feat. TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS, SEAN PECK And HARRY CONKLIN: Video Of Athens Concert

Fan-filmed video footage of THE THREE TREMORS, the new project featuring acclaimed heavy metal singers Tim "The Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN), Harry "The Tyrant" Conklin (JAG PANZER) and Sean "The Hell Destroyer" Peck (CAGE, DEATH DEALER, DENNER/SHERMANN), performing on September 28 at Kyttaro club in Athens, Greece can be seen below.

THE THREE TREMORS' self-titled debut LP is due later this year. The band nourishes in heavy metal anthems, and features the illustrious chops of guitarist Dave Garcia, whose tenacity fuels the fire, allowing the music to naturally flow in complimentary tone. Second guitarist Casey Trask picks up the pace and pushes the boundaries alongside bassist Alex Pickard, who highlights a melodic sensibility giving character to the overall tonality. On drums, the thrash machine Sean Elg adds in his perfectly placed fills and signature double bass patterns.

"Sean's band, CAGE, opened for JUDAS PRIEST on the 'Jugulator' tour in San Diego — that is where I first met him," recalls Ripper. "He hit me up about resurrecting the idea and actually doing a record, and then a band, to put this out in the live setting also, and I thought it sounded really cool. The record came out really strong and I think the fans deserved to have a thing like this actually exist. We performed two of the songs live already when I was out in San Diego shooting the video for the first single, and it was a blast."

"It was about five years ago, I was camping and thinking about the whole THREE TREMORS urban legend from long ago and what a shame it was that it never happened," says Sean. "Then I started thinking about if there was a resurrected 2018 version of it, who would I get, and Tim and Harry were at the top of my list. I immediately reached out to Tim, who agreed to embark on this adventure and Harry quickly joined next. It took a long time to put it together, create the right songs, and get it properly arranged, but the results are beyond my wildest expectations. I think the fans are really going to freak out on what we have done with this record, and live it's going to be almighty I assure you!"

Sean and I ended up at a party together in Germany, where we were both playing the same festival, and he told me about the THREE TREMORS album he was putting together and asked if I would be into it," adds Harry. "He described the concept and how he wanted to bring this old idea to actual life and I said I was in. Once I started hearing the songs that were being sent over for me to record, I knew this thing was going to be really powerful. Then when I got sent the final mixes with all three of us on it, my jaw hit the floor on how well it all came together. For heavy metal fans, this is the ultimate."

THE THREE TREMORS' self-titled debut highlights artwork ingeniously created by renowned artist Marc Sasso (DIO, HALFORD, ADRENALINE MOB, DEATH DEALER), to showcase an apocalyptic battle between demonic hyper-wolves and the Three Tremors, who marched into an underworld overshadowed by evil forces only armed with bullets powered by heavy metal sorcery to reclaim the dystopian lands.

THE THREE TREMORS' self-titled debut album will feature 12 new songs that depict monumental stories of time honored heavy metal themes as written by Peck, focusing on original concepts to highlight three of the most revered and relentless voices in heavy metal.

"The Three Tremors" track listing:

01. Invaders From The Sky

02. Bullets For The Damned

03. When The Last Scream Fades

04. Wrath Of Asgard

05. The Cause

06. King Of The Monsters

07. The Pit Shows No Mercy

08. Sonic Suicide

09. Fly Or Die

10. Lust Of The Blade

11. Speed To Burn

12. The Three Tremors (bonus track)

THE THREE TREMORS was the provisional name given to a never-materialized project featuring Bruce Dickinson (IRON MAIDEN), Geoff Tate (QUEENSRŸCHE) and Rob Halford (JUDAS PRIEST).

DIRE PERIL Premiere “Queen Of The Galaxy” Video Featuring UNLEASH THE ARCHERS’ Brittney Slayes

DIRE PERIL Premiere “Queen Of The Galaxy” Video Featuring UNLEASH THE ARCHERS’ Brittney Slayes

American sci-fi power metal duo Dire Peril featuring Jason Ashcraft (Helion Prime) and vocalist John Yelland (Judicator) are premiering their latest lyric video "Queen Of The Galaxy" featuring Unleash The Archers vocalist Brittney Slayes whom reprise's her role as Barbarella for a re-recorded version of the track. The song is their second single off their upcoming album "The Extraterrestrial Compendium" due out November 9th, 2018 via Divebomb Records to follow their three previous EP releases Astronomical Minds (2013), Queen of The Galaxy (2014) and Through Time and Space (2015).

The band comments:

"Telling the story of Barbarella the Queen of the Galaxy, we are joined by the first guest musician on the album Brittney Slayes (Unleash The Archers). This is actually a re-recording of an older Dire Peril track and the lyrics were written by original vocalist Norman Skinner.

The album will consist of twelve full length tracks each inspired from a different science fiction movie. It will feature guest performances from Arjen Anthony Lucassen (Ayreon) and Brittney Slayes (Unleash The Archers).

The album was mixed by Carlos Alvarez at Dirty Viking Audio Productions and mastered by Brett Caldas-Lima at Tower Studio. Cover art for the album was done by Gwen Vibancos. Cover art for the single was done by Jill Colbert at Manfish Inc.

The single "Heart Of The Furyan" is based on the character Riddick from the The Chronicles Of Riddick series that started in 2000 with the film Pitch Black.

Ashcraft comments, “I have been biting my tongue, mostly, for about three years now that we got Arjen to perform on one of our tracks. Those who know me understand that this is a dream come true for me. Arjen is a huge inspiration to myself and my music, and to have had the honor to work with him is something that will be a main highlight throughout my career. He is very humble and great to work with. I hope everyone is as pleased with the outcome as I am.”

Each of The Extraterrestrial Compendium’s 12 tracks is based on a sci-fi film. “I always loved the idea behind Iced Earth’s Horror Show - making each song based on a famous monster film. If it isn’t obvious from the music, I’m somewhat of an Iced Earth fan,” states Jason, “so when coming up with ideas for this debut, I thought it would be cool to take a similar direction, but with something that I’m passionate about. As you can see by the final result, we get an album based on some of my all-time favorite sci-fi films. It was certainly hard to choose, as I could probably make Dire Peril’s entire career on favorite films alone.”

Together, the duo - through many obstacles - is prepared to present The Extraterrestrial Compendium to the world, as well as the friends and fans who have waited so patiently.

Yelland notes, “Working on this album was a joy. I had always admired Jason’s material, so the opportunity to collaborate with him was irresistible. I am so proud of what we have accomplished, and can’t wait to share this - and more - with the world...”

Stay tuned for further announcements from the band which will include pre-orders of the album.

VIRGIN BLACK Return After A Decade Of Silence To Complete Their Requiem Trilogy

VIRGIN BLACK Return After A Decade Of Silence To Complete Their Requiem Trilogy

..... and then there was silence.

Virgin Black stamped itself as one of metal's true aberrations by having the audacity to record—with a full orchestra—its incredibly ambitious, sprawling three-part requiem mass; releasing two of those parts, then disappearing at the peak of its powers for a full decade.

Though, in truth, Virgin Black was a work unto itself from its 1995 inception through to that unexplained departure in 2008. Whether it was playing one-band word-of-mouth-promoted shows in hidden Adelaide city basements in the 90s, or mystifyingly managing to successfully mesh orchestral, industrial, opera and black metal with the band's doom base—on the defining 2001 debut album Sombre Romantic—Virgin Black forever unapologetically treads its own path.

A key figure in the marked era of legendary label The End Records, it was Virgin Black, alongside equally unique and self-assured acts such as Antimatter and Agalloch that were emblematic of the label's strong vanguard ethos. Pioneers in a time when musical categories were far more rigidly adhered to.

Requiem - Pianissimo
As the years ticked by, even the most ardent fans had their hopes for the missing album's release evaporate. The online world is littered with comments and editorials signifying a final sigh of dismay as people let go of the belief that Pianissimo would ever actually come to bear.

In August 2018 the Virgin Black Facebook page suddenly had all of its content deleted, with a single ambiguous image left instead. That, and the series of chronologically dated images that followed, left fans divided on whether or not they were witnessing a return to life after ten years, or a final memorial.

Fans feverishly debated, but when the date jumped to 2018 with a new image of Sesca Scaarba (formerly Samantha Escarbe) and Rowan London, followed by a shock posting of the first 13 minutes of the fabled album, it was essentially unanimous that Requiem - Pianissimo was real, and imminent.

Requiem Series
In describing Virgin Black's Requiem, there is a tendency to want to match its grand scale with equally grandiose language. However, the project is outlandish and intriguing on such a level that an unadorned, and plainly factual description is paradoxically apt.

It is a requiem mass composed as one unfolding piece, progressing from the all-orchestral first stage, through to a balanced, collaborative orchestra/band middle section, concluding with the band coming to the fore in the final and heaviest section. Total duration at 2 hours 33 minutes.

Befitting "a mass for the dead", the sounds, whether represented by orchestral or metal instrumentation, are ever-presently dirgeful and heartrending. On display is both an adherence to and an outright betrayal of the long-established tradition of requiem masses in classical music. Typifying that betrayal is the semi-atonal vocal barrage referred to as the "death choir" - a chorus of extreme voices employing a resonant undertone technique found most commonly in death metal. Musical elements such as a full string ensemble (with specifically requested low C-tuned basses), woodwinds, horns, brass, timpani, heavy A#-tuned guitars, drums, tenor/baritone and soprano solo voices, death solo voice, and full choir are at times dexterously interwoven and at other times deliberately thrust together for chaotic effect. Many passages for the words were reproduced from traditional religious mass texts and lend a ceremonial component offset by the far more personal and emotional words penned specifically for the project which interject throughout.

Six individual audio engineers were engaged to realise production, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra enlisted to perform the scores, and the Adelaide Stamford Academy Choir for performance of choral arrangements.

With an unerring artistic commitment, bordering on folly, composers Sesca Scaarba and Rowan London financially backed the project entirely themselves and notably - these many years later - still remain tens of thousands of dollars in debt to "incredibly generous and understanding people" as London put it. Yet despite the difficult and protracted birth, Requiem - Pianissimo and the series it completes will be marked down in history as a unique and shining achievement.

Tracklisting:

“Requiem Aeternum”
“Dies Irae”
“Until Death”
“Kyrie Elesion”
“Libera Eis Domine”
“Lacrimosa (I Tread Alone)”
“Pie Jesu”
“Rememberance”

The official video for the album's eponymous opening track is available below.

The track features Jason McMaster (Watchtower, Dangerous Toys, Broken Teeth, Ignitor, Evil United), Stuart Laurence (Agony Column, Ignitor), Robert Williams (Ignitor, Witches Mark), Donnie Van Stavern (S.A. Slayer, Riot, Pitbull Daycare), and Felix Griffin (D.R.I., Bat).

Though barely scratching the surface of the magic on offer, some particularly interesting aspects of the album include:

- The appearance of every member of Witches Mark on "Malt Liquor Maniac".
- Bonus track "Black And Green" features every member of Agony Column, plus guitarist Robert Williams (Ignitor, Witches Mark) and is the first thing Agony Column has recorded since 1995's Way Back In The Woods album.
- The Burt Bacharach/Carole Bayer Sager-penned cover of "That's What Friends Are For" features a complete previous lineup of Ignitor plus Logan Orlando Perez (Against The Plagues, Vex, Whore Of Babylon).
- The cover song "Running From The Law" from Riot's Born In America album was recorded as a tribute to Mark Reale and Rhett Forrester and even features Donnie Van Stavern (Riot) on bass.

The complete list of players on Texas Metal Outlaws is as follows:

KORN Announces Launch Of Its New Coffee Brand, 'KORN Koffee'

KORN has launched its new coffee brand, Korn Koffee. Created in partnership with J. Gursey Coffee Roasters, Korn Koffee is available now.

Made entirely with certified fair trade whole beans, Korn Koffee is a distinctive blend of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, Guatemalan Huehuetenago and Organic Peru beans mixed with J. Gursey Coffee's popular Vintage Black Diamond blend. KORN personally curated the creation of Korn Koffee, a process that saw the bandmembers tasting multiple variations before ultimately selecting the perfect roast and blend.

Indeed, each bag of Korn Koffee will feature a special message from KORN: "After almost 25 years of touring, making records and playing in front of all of our amazing fans (you), one thing has remained a constant in our daily routine: coffee. The ritual, the brew, the aroma and most importantly, that very first cup every morning that sets the tone, is something we look forward to every day. Because of our passion, we've gotten together with a roaster and handcrafted our very own blend of Koffee. We hope you enjoy, share, and join us in savoring many cups of Koffee for years to come."

Earlier in the month, KORN played three very special shows in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the band's "Follow The Leader" album.

b>"Follow The Leader" was a massive commercial breakthrough for KORN, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart, selling five million copies in the U.S. and yielding two hits singles in "Got The Life" and "Freak On A Leash".

KORN recently began recording its new album in Tennessee. Drummer Ray Luzier posted an Instagram photo from his session at producer Nick Raskulinecz's Rock Falcon Studio inside the Nashville complex owned by the music and entertainment company Black River Entertainment.

SONS OF APOLLO Cover QUEEN, AEROSMITH, LED ZEPPELIN During Bulgarian Concert DVD/Blu-Ray Shoot (Video)

SONS OF APOLLO Cover QUEEN, AEROSMITH, LED ZEPPELIN During Bulgarian Concert DVD/Blu-Ray Shoot (Video)

SONS OF APOLLO — the progressive metal supergroup featuring former DREAM THEATER bandmates Mike Portnoy and Derek Sherinian, as well as guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (ex-GUNS N' ROSES), bassist Billy Sheehan (MR. BIG, THE WINERY DOGS) and vocalist Jeff Scott Soto (W.E.T., TALISMAN) — professionally recorded its September 22 concert at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv, Bulgaria for an upcoming CD, DVD and Blu-ray.

During the show, in which the band played all of the material from its 2017 debut album "Psychotic Symphony" and a number of notable covers, the group performed two sets separated by an intermission — one "regular" set, and another that featured an orchestra and choir.

The band's setlist was as follows:

01. God Of The Sun

02. Signs Of The Time

03. Divine Addiction

04. Just Let Me Breathe (DREAM THEATER cover)

05. Bass Solo

06. Lost In Oblivion

07. The Prophet's Song/Save Me (QUEEN cover)

08. Alive

09. The Pink Panther Theme (Henry Mancini cover)

10. Opus Maximus

11. Kashmir (LED ZEPPELIN cover)

12. Gates Of Babylon (RAINBOW cover)

13. Labyrinth

14. Dream On (AEROSMITH cover)

15. Diary Of A Madman (Ozzy Osbourne cover)

16. Comfortably Numb (PINK FLOYD cover)

17. The Show Must Go On (QUEEN cover)

18. Hell's Kitchen (DREAM THEATER cover)

19. Figaro's Whore

20. Keyboard Solo

21. Lines In The Sand (DREAM THEATER cover)

22. Guitar Solo

23. And The Cradle Will Rock... (VAN HALEN cover)

24. Coming Home

b>SONS OF APOLLO's Plovdiv concert fell one year to the day that Devin Townsend — who, like SONS OF APOLLO, is managed by Andy Farrow of Northern Music — performed with an orchestra at the same venue to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his landmark album "Ocean Machine". OPETH and PARADISE LOST, two other clients of Farrow's, have also performed orchestra-accompanied shows there the past, as have ASIA and APOCALYPTICA.

According to Wikipedia, the Roman theatre of Plovdiv — the second-largest city in Bulgaria — is one of the world's best-preserved ancient theatres. Constructed in the 1st Century, the venue has a capacity of between 5,000 and 7,000.

Soto recently told Midlands Metalheads Radio that SONS OF APOLLO will record its second album in 2019, but that it likely won't be released until the following year due to the busy schedules of the group's members. "I presume if the album is done even by summertime next year, it's probably not going to see the light of day until early 2020 just so we can actually once again commit the entire year to touring it out, and giving the album cycle the promotion it deserves," he said.

SONS OF APOLLO will wrap up their current European tour in support of "Psychotic Symphony", which was released last October via InsideOut Music, on October 20 in Cologne, Germany.

Federal Appeals Court Orders New Trial In Copyright Case Over LED ZEPPELIN's 'Stairway to Heaven'

Federal Appeals Court Orders New Trial In Copyright Case Over LED ZEPPELIN's 'Stairway to Heaven'

According to Variety, a federal appeals court decided unanimously Friday to overturn a jury's decision that LED ZEPPELIN's 1971 classic "Stairway To Heaven" was not a rip-off of the 1968 instrumental song "Taurus".

Michael Skidmore, the trustee of "Taurus" songwriter Randy "California" Wolfe's estate, had brought the claims more than four decades after "Stairway To Heaven" appeared on LED ZEPPELIN's untitled album, better known as "Led Zeppelin IV".

In June 2016, a Los Angeles jury deliberated for about five hours before deciding unanimously in favor of LED ZEPPELIN.

The verdict in the LED ZEPPELIN case came down within 15 minutes of the jury's request to re-listen to both SPIRIT's "Taurus" and "Stairway To Heaven". They wanted to hear a section of each song twice, alternating from one to the other. They decided that what they heard wasn't substantially similar enough to call it copyright infringement.

b>Skidmore appealed, and on Friday, a three-judge panel of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals decided a new trial was needed because the judge who presided over a 2016 trial had given erroneous and prejudicial instructions to the jury.

The court said the judge erred by telling the jury that common musical elements, such as "descending chromatic scales, arpeggios or short sequences of three notes," were not protected by copyright. The court also said the jury should have been permitted to hear the album recording of "Taurus".

"Without a selection and arrangement instruction, the jury instructions severely undermined Skidmore's argument for extrinsic similarity, which is exactly what the jury found lacking,” wrote Circuit Judge Richard A. Paez, for the court.

Immediately following the June 2016 verdict, LED ZEPPELIN's Jimmy Page and Robert Plant released a statement saying that they were glad to see the issue resolved.

"We are grateful for the jury's conscientious service and pleased that it has ruled in our favor, putting to rest questions about the origins of 'Stairway To Heaven' and confirming what we have known for 45 years," they said. "We appreciate our fans' support, and look forward to putting this legal matter behind us."

Plaintiff's attorney Francis Malofiy later claimed he lost his case on a technicality, insisting that it was unfair the jury was unable to listen to the sound recording of "Taurus" and instead was limited to hearing an expert performance of the registered sheet music.

Malofiy received over a hundred sustained objections and "multiple admonishments" during the ZEPPELIN trial, with the band's publishing company Warner/Chappell Music filing documents asking the judge to order the plaintiffs to pay over $613,000 in costs for defending against the lawsuit.
