Recorded last year at Nashville, Tennesse's Rock Falcon recording studio with producer Nick Raskulinecz, "Vicious" is available for pre-order at all DSPs and streaming services.

Deluxe album packages are available for pre-order exclusively at the band's official webstore, including the new album on standard vinyl, plus a limited-edition opaque purple colored double vinyl with enhanced cover art and bonus tracks, limited to 1500 units worldwide. Also exclusively available at the webstore are a limited edition t-shirt, dog tag necklace, autographed poster, and a free album cover magnet with physical album purchase while supplies last.

HALESTORM frontwoman Lzzy Hale told Boston radio station WAAF about the band's new album: "I feel like this is the most… Every record, we try to kind of get it closer and closer to what people see every day live. And I really think that this is the most HALESTORM record that you're gonna hear from us as of yet."

HALESTORM guitarist Joe Hottinger told the SiriusXM show "Trunk Nation" that the band's follow-up to 2015's "Into The Wild Life" would contain some of "the heaviest stuff we've ever done."

"Into The Wild Life" was criticized by some HALESTORM fans for veering too far into pop music territory.

Finnish Death Metal Band CONVULSE Returns With New Song 'The Summoning'

Finnish Death Metal Band CONVULSE Returns With New Song 'The Summoning'

Finnish progressive death metal band CONVULSE has released a brand new song called "The Summoning". It's the first taste of the band's upcoming album, which will be recorded in 2019. Some may hear echoes of bands like KINGSTON WALL or old AMORPHIS, but mostly it's an example of unpredictable and lustful music that only CONVULSE can deliver its own twisted way.

As one of the oldest Finnish death metal bands, CONVULSE has a somewhat interesting history, to say the least. Beginning as a full-on death metal band in 1990, the debut demo, "Resuscitation Of Evilness", as well as the 1991 debut album, "World Without God", were more or less successful attempts from CONVULSE to flex their death metal muscles for the whole world.

In 1993, CONVULSE returned to the limelight again, offering two new songs on the "Lost Equilibrium" CD single — and, at the same time, giving a taste of what was to be expected on their second album, 1994's "Reflections". CONVULSE had started incorporating some rock 'n' roll elements into their murky and uncompromising death metal sound, much like some of their Finnish extreme metal comrades (XYSMA and DISGRACE primarily come to mind). The band's "death 'n' roll" sound on their sophomore album divided the CONVULSE fanbase, with some embracing the new direction while facing rejection from others. It's both difficult and pointless to speculate at this point whether the drastic musical change led to CONVULSE's downfall, but perhaps it was one of the reasons behind the split up in 1994. Only the original band members can say for sure...

Fast forward nearly two decades, and new life had been breathed into the old CONVULSE corpse. In early November 2013, CONVULSE's third album, "Evil Prevails", was unleashed by Svart Records, and was followed by "Cycle Of Revenge" in 2016.

CHRIS CORNELL Statue To Be Erected At Seattle's Museum Of Pop Culture Next Month

CHRIS CORNELL Statue To Be Erected At Seattle's Museum Of Pop Culture Next Month

Today, on what would have been the 54th birthday of Seattle's son, music icon and late Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Chris Cornell, Vicky Cornell announced her late husband will be commemorated in his hometown with a statue that will be raised in a public ceremony on Wednesday, August 29. Ms. Cornell commissioned sculptor Nick Marras to create a life size bronze statue showcasing the rock legend in one of his iconic poses with his signature boots, dog tag, layers and long locks. She has donated the commemorative figure to Seattle's Museum of Pop Culture.

"Even though Chris's music touched the lives of millions around the world, there is no better place than Seattle to honor and celebrate both his contribution to music history, as well as Seattle's unique place in popular music, with an enduring symbol of a beloved artist, father, and husband," said Vicky Cornell. "Our children and I are deeply moved by the continued outpouring of love, compassion, and support, and this is our gift to the Museum of Pop Culture and to Seattle — our gift back to the tight-knit community that gave him his start."

"MoPOP is honored to receive this gift from the Cornell family and pay tribute to one of the most powerful and important voices in popular music," says Jasen Emmons, artistic director, MoPOP. "MoPOP serves to celebrate the Seattle music scene and the luminaries who have emerged from the Northwest and Chris was a key figure who has made a lasting impact on generations worldwide."

MoPOP is designed by Frank O. Gehry and located inside the Seattle Center next to the Space Needle. The statue will be placed on display in front of the Museum of Pop Culture's gold south entrance, facing 5th Avenue, the ideal location for fans and visitors around the world.

Cornell was pronounced dead on May 18, 2017 after being found unresponsive in his Detroit hotel room the previous night. SOUNDGARDEN had played a show earlier that evening.

The 52-year-old had sedatives and an anxiety drug in his system on the night he died by hanging himself. According to a completed toxicology report released by Michigan's Wayne County Medical Examiner, the drugs didn't contribute to the cause of death.

In addition to SOUNDGARDEN, Cornell sang with AUDIOSLAVE and TEMPLE OF THE DOG, while also recording four solo studio albums and one live set on his own.

ZZ TOP Guitarist/Vocalist BILLY F GIBBONS To Release 'The Big Bad Blues' Solo Album In September

ZZ TOP Guitarist/Vocalist BILLY F GIBBONS To Release 'The Big Bad Blues' Solo Album In September

Concord Records will release "The Big Bad Blues", ZZ TOP legend Billy F Gibbons's second-ever solo effort, on September 21. This is the follow-up to his acclaimed 2015 Afro-Cuban-flavored solo album "Perfectamundo".

"The Big Bad Blues", as the title suggests, focuses on Gibbons's lifelong love of the blues and rock and roll, showcasing the blues-influenced vocals and guitar licks that have together served as the foundation for his numerous hits over the past five decades. The album features 11 tracks balancing some classic covers like "Rollin' And Tumblin'" and "Standing Around Crying", along with some of Billy's signature new blues originals.

"We successfully made our way through those uncharted waters with the Cubano flavor of 'Perfectamundo' and completed the journey," says Gibbons in distinguishing "The Big Bad Blues" from its predecessor. "The shift back to the blues is a natural. It's something which our followers can enjoy with the satisfaction of experiencing the roots tradition and, at the same time, feeling the richness of stretching the art form."

Gibbons, of course, has long been one of the most important and influential artists to emerge from the blues traditions, carrying it forward in a career honored by his 2004 induction, with ZZ TOP, into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. As he notes, he was blues-influenced "right from the beginning — and it's never let up."

"There's something very primordial within the art form," he says. "Nobody gets away from the infectious allure of those straight-ahead licks!"

He notes it would take many hours just to scratch the surface surrounding this enduring love affair: "I suspect Jimmy Reed did me in early on. The inventiveness of that high and lonesome sound remains solid and stridently strong to this day. We could go on to mention the lineup of usual suspects, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy, all three Kings [B.B., Albert and Freddie]. The lengthy list of champions are forever carved in stone."

After the success of "Perfectamundo", Concord Records president John Burk expressed his intent on following up with another artistic offering with a more familiar, bluesy kind of content. "Billy has an incredibly deep knowledge of the great blues tradition and has carried that tradition forward in his music throughout his incredible career. Therefore, it seemed natural to do a project that centered on his musical roots, and the music that so inspired him from the very beginning."

Gibbons remarked, "We were delighted to follow suit: It's steeped in the tradition of 'BFG meets blues giants' with an adventurous expression to keep it fresh."

BFG and Burk met in an underground parking garage of a favorite Hollywood bistro from the comforts of JB's top-down ride, playing some tracks, LOUD, with the music bouncing off the walls beneath a couple floors of raw concrete."… Gibbons got the nod. He and his "greasy" gang of unbridled players were delivering the goods.

"From deep in the heart of Texas, our Hammond organ specialist, Mr. Mike Flanigin, stepped forward and accepted the invitation to step from the B3 bench to take on the task of pounding the ivory 88s," says Gibbons, adding, "Great piano stuff from Mike 'The Drifter' Flanigin.

"Master of the Fender Bass-guitar, Joe Hardy lent his low-down sound with his fearless funkiness, SO fine!

"Also, in the mash-up mix, the man-with-the-backbeat-plan, Greg Morrow. G keeps the skins alive and kickin'. And while we're on that backbeat thang…

"Matt Sorum steps forward with his super-syncopation, thrashing the skins like no buddies business.

"Alabama–come-California soulster Austin Hanks, roughs up the riffs with his left-handed six-string electric. Have mercy!"

Gibbons himself shares the harmonica chops with James Harman who has appeared over the years doin' that Mississippi-sounding thing. "James is the fastidiously fierce follower of the real deal when it comes to blowing' the harp.

"As for the album content, check it out… Hey now!

"Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue," he says. "It's no secret there are several favorites from the way-back starting with not one, but two, from the Bo Diddley catalog ['Bring It To Jerome' and 'Crackin' Up']. We dusted off an old Gretsch Duo-Jet guitar which put it squarely with that infamous Bo Diddley sound. Once covered, we made way into another side — a much earlier number from Muddy Waters, 'Standing Around Crying'. The ragged edges with the meanness of James's bad self on harp seemed to fit the bill to enter the lineup."

As for favorites, Gibbons notes, "'Missin' Yo' Kissin' is a gift from Miz Gibbons. She knows what girls want and laid it out cold. And 'Second Line' is a definite throwback to many good days and nights down New Orleans way.

"Other tracks on 'The Big Bad Blues' are easy pickin', sayin' it all. It's a street affair."

Track listing (all songs by Billy F Gibbons except where noted):

01. Missin' Yo' Kissin' (Gilly Stillwater)

02. My Baby She Rocks

03. Second Line

04. Standing Around Crying (Muddy Waters)

The track is taken from his upcoming solo album, titled "For The Love Of Metal", which will be released on July 27 via Napalm Records. The disc, which was produced by HATEBREED vocalist Jamey Jasta, will feature contributions from Howard Jones (ex-KILLSWITCH ENGAGE), Mark Morton (LAMB OF GOD), Alissa White-Gluz (ARCH ENEMY), Joel Grind and Nick Bellmore (TOXIC HOLOCAUST), and Charlie Bellmore (KINGDOM OF SORROW).

"For The Love Of Metal" track listing:

01. Lies Are A Business

02. Tomorrow's No Concern

03. I Am The Hurricane

04. American Made

05. Roll Over You

06. I'm Ready

07. Running Mazes

08. Mask

09. Become The Storm

10. The Hardest Way

11. Dead Hearts (Love Thy Enemy)

12. For The Love Of Metal

Speaking to Chris Annunziata of the New Jersey radio station 90.3 WMSC-FM, Snider stated about "For The Love Of Metal": "This is a really exciting album I did not expect to make, especially at this point in my life. I was doing Jamey Jasta's podcast, and he challenged me to make a contemporary rock record. And I was, like, 'Who's producing?' He said, 'I am.' And so we went in the studio [with] no record deal, and people started flocking [to appear on the LP]. It just amazed me, the enthusiasm and excitement that these younger musicians — younger than me, at least — had for working with Dee Snider and being a part of this project."

Dee went on to say that "the album turned out phenomenal," so much so that "we had a bidding war from all the major metal labels," he said. "As Jamey would say, it is hard. It harkens back to my earliest work with TWISTED SISTER, but it's very contemporary sounding with my voice. And people are astounded, actually, that I still have a very strong, very powerful, and as Jamey says, an important, iconic rock voice. So I'm very excited about this album."

Jasta previously described the LP as a "full-on metal album," adding that "people are gonna lose their minds when they hear this." He also called Dee "one of the best vocalists of our time" whose "voice is up there with Ozzy [Osbourne], [Ronnie James] Dio, [Bruce] Dickinson and [Rob] Halford to me. "And it's as powerful as ever!" he said.

"Although this album will be very heavy, the songs are anthemic and will fit well in his solo set with 'We're Not Gonna Take It', 'I Wanna Rock', 'Burn In Hell', 'We Are The Ones', 'So What' and others," Jamey promised.

Snider's last solo album, "We Are The Ones", was released in October 2016 via Red River Records. Produced by Damon Ranger, the disc was described by Dee as "an album that is think part FOO FIGHTERS, part IMAGINE DRAGONS, part THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS."

TWISTED SISTER called it quits in 2016 after completing a farewell 40th-anniversary tour.

MAD MAX Releases 'Beat Of The Heart' Video

MAD MAX Releases 'Beat Of The Heart' Video

German melodic hard rockers MAD MAX will release their new album, "35", on August 10 via SPV/Steamhammer. The disc's first single, "Beat Of The Heart", stands out among the 11 songs for a number of reasons. On one hand, the track could be described as the 2018 sequel to MAD MAX's most important hit "Night Of Passion", and on the other hand, the bandmembers have made their longstanding dream come true with the video that supports the song.

"For once in the history of MAD MAX, we wanted to shoot a video that has the look and the cinematic quality of a real little motion picture," the band said. "Thanks to the support of our sponsor Hubert Teichmann, we got that opportunity at last."

By way of explanation: Hubert Teichmann, among other things the owner of the private "Staudenbahn" railway line near Augsburg, has been a staunch patron of the arts for a number of years — again the term "idealism" comes to mind! — and he supplied the financial means that enabled mad max to shoot a video clip in Berlin with a number of actors, among them leading man Vinzenz Kiefer ("The Baader Meinhof Complex", the action/crime drama series "Alarm für Cobra 11", "Jason Bourne") and director/screenwriter Oliver Betke.

"35" will be released as CD digipak version, limited vinyl version, download and stream.

Track listing:

01. The Hutch (Intro) (1:07)

02. Running To Paradise (4:25)

03. Beat Of The Heart (3:30)

04. D.A.M.N. (4:45)

05. Snowdance (4:13)

06. Thirty 5 (4:02)

07. Already Gone (3:44)

08. False Freedom (4:50)

09. Goodbye To You (4:18)

10. Rocky Road (6:32)

11. Paris Is Burning (4:08) (bonus track)

DREAM THEATER: Second Video Of Drum Tracking For New Album

DREAM THEATER: Second Video Of Drum Tracking For New Album

Progressive metal giants DREAM THEATER recently entered an undisclosed studio to begin work on material for the follow-up to 2016's "The Astonishing" album. An early 2019 release is expected.

A new two-minute video of DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Mangini "in the studio recording a short proggy bit" for the band's new disc can be seen below.

DREAM THEATER vocalist James LaBrie stated about the new material, "There's a heaviness to it, there's an aggression to it," while guitarist John Petrucci added: "So far the music is heavy, it's progressive, it's melodic, it's shredding, and it's also epic. So it has all those elements, which… they are the five pillars of DREAM THEATER, if you wanna call it that."

Petrucci hinted in a recent interview that DREAM THEATER's next album will be musically inspired by the "Images, Words & Beyond" tour, which saw the pioneering group celebrating the 25th anniversary of its milestone RIAA-gold-certified album "Images And Words".

DREAM THEATER's next studio album — its 14th — will be the band's first for Sony Music's progressive imprint InsideOut Music. The group spent the past 25 years recording under various labels in the Warner Music Group system, most recently Roadrunner Records, which released five albums by the band between 2007 and 2016.

ROB ZOMBIE Signs With NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS; New Album Due In 2019

ROB ZOMBIE Signs With NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS; New Album Due In 2019

Nuclear Blast Records has announced the signing of rock and heavy metal icon and unique filmmaker Rob Zombie to a worldwide deal. The follow-up to his 2016 studio album, "The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser", and 2018's "Astro-Creep: 2000 Live" is due in 2019.

Comments Rob Zombie: "I am very excited to work with the fine folks at Nuclear Blast. The combination of the label's grassroots urge to get the hustle done mixed with the detonation of our most combustable melodic masterpiece yet should prove to be a winning hybrid of hellacious hullabaloo."

Adds a representative from Nuclear Blast: "As fans ourselves at Nuclear Blast, we have long admired the artistry of Rob Zombie throughout his extensive and successful career in both music and film. It is a very exciting opportunity to unite Rob's visionary talent with Nuclear Blast ingenuity.

"Nuclear Blast has a long history of thinking outside of the box and creating personal and collectible experiences for the fans. We look forward to delivering unforgettable experiences to fans around the world for years to come with the legendary Rob Zombie."

Last summer, Rob and his bandmates commenced work on the follow-up to "The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser", which was the second consecutive effort to feature Zombie and guitarist John 5 alongside bassist Piggy D. and drummer Ginger Fish.

This past February, John 5 compared the shock rocker's upcoming album to THE BEATLES' groundbreaking LP "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", saying that it is "by far the best Zombie record that he's ever done." He added: "A lot of people say, 'Oh, it's just our greatest record,' and I don't say that. Whatever I say is so honest when I'm doing interviews. So I think it's our best record."

When asked what makes the new Rob Zombie album so special compared to his previous records, John 5 said: "First of all, Rob did incredible with the lyrics and the melody — unbelievable!

"What he did this time around… We did it… I don't even know if he wants me to talk about this, but how we went about it is… We would usually, me and Rob would come up with some music," he said. "He'd be, like, 'I like that music, and let's write to that music. I'm going to write my lyrics and melody to that music that we just created.' So what happened this time is he wrote lyrics and melody to, like, drum beats and sounds, and he came up with, in my opinion, the hookiest, most memorable lyrics and melody that he has ever. And what he did is brought me in and then we worked on the music, and it was un-fucking-believable; it just worked so well."

Zombie recently told Loudwire about his upcoming album: "I think it's the best record we've made. Parts of it are the heaviest, parts are the weirdest, it's the most complex record we've ever made, but at the same time, it's always very catchy and listenable, but it's the most intricately structured record."

He added: "There are those songs that go in a direction we've never even gone near before. Personally, I like records that are very varied in sound. Not just like, 'Oh, here's 12 super heavy tracks,’ and they're all the same tempo. I like records that are all over the place. That's why I think my favourite BEATLES record was always The White Album."

Rob Zombie has continuously challenged audiences as he stretches the boundaries of both music and film. He has sold more than 23 million albums worldwide, and is the only artist to experience unprecedented success in both music and film as the writer/director of seven feature films with a worldwide gross totaling more than $150 million.

GREAT WHITE Performs With New Singer MITCH MALLOY For First Time (Video)

GREAT WHITE Performs With New Singer MITCH MALLOY For First Time (Video)

Mitch Malloy made his live debut as the new singer for GREAT WHITE on July 14 at the Lucky Eagle Casino & Hotel in Rochester, Washington. Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be seen below (courtesy of Rolf Vellek).

Malloy joined GREAT WHITE as the replacement for Terry Ilous, who was fired from the band earlier in the month. Malloy, a celebrated songwriter and artist now based in Nashville, takes the reins as the third official lead vocalist in GREAT WHITE's 36-year history.

"Mitch is an incredible singer, artist, songwriter and engineer," GREAT WHITE lead guitarist Mark Kendall said. "We're beyond excited to stretch our musical muscles with a fresh, new take on GREAT WHITE's catalog of hits."

He added: "Terry Ilous has been released to join his other projects. We wish him the best of luck and thank him for his run with GREAT WHITE."

Malloy, who originally hails from Dickinson, North Dakota, charted his first solo single, "Anything At All" in 1992. His subsequent hits "Nobody Wins In This War" and "Our Love Will Never Die" also made Billboard's Top 100. Most recently he's been cranking out penned hits and producing clients for his Malloy Master Tracks studio. These clients include Taylor Swift, BOYS LIKE GIRLS, Kenny Loggins, Craig Morgan, Johnny Gates and many more.

Malloy has been in this is this situation before. In 1996, VAN HALEN asked Malloy to take the reins as its singer. Although Malloy didn't take the gig, he further established his reputation as a universally respected frontman. He's thrilled to be a part of GREAT WHITE. He's not trying to be a "clone" of previous singers Jack Rusell and Ilous.

"I have to represent this music honorably," Malloy said. "I respect what has come before me, and have to remind fans of where they were when they first heard these songs. I also have to be myself at the same time. When I first heard my own voice with GREAT WHITE's music, I knew something special was going on."

GREAT WHITE guitarist and keyboardist Michael Lardie praised Malloy for his musical chops and reputation.

"We had an immediate rapport with Mitch," Lardie said. "I'm positive the fans will embrace Mitch and continue to support GREAT WHITE. This music is bigger than any one person."

"We're ready to rock with Mitch," drummer Audie Desbrow added. "2018 and beyond still has a lot in store for GREAT WHITE. Don't ever count us down and out. It feels like we're just getting started."

GREAT WHITE continues to tour worldwide and in the last four years logged nearly 400 dates in several states and countries. The band celebrated numerous milestones that included several sold-out performances, a return to the Zurich, Switzerland's Rock Im Tal festival, the 10th anniversary of M3 Rock Festival and a handful of intimate, acoustic performances.

In June 2017, GREAT WHITE reunited with its original producer, Michael Wagener on the thrilling "Full Circle". The nine-track album spawned the balls-to-the wall single "Big Time". And for the first time in its career, GREAT WHITE gave a peek behind the curtain to its fans with the accompanying DVD "The Making Of Full Circle".

ONCE HUMAN To Release 'Stage Of Evolution' Live Album In September

ONCE HUMAN To Release 'Stage Of Evolution' Live Album In September

ONCE HUMAN will release its first-ever live album, "Stage Of Evolution", on September 28 via earMUSIC. Watch the video for first single release "Flock Of Flesh" below. It is now available as an instant-grat track.

Having made waves with its 2015 debut, "The Life I Remember", ONCE HUMAN has dramatically progressed beyond the melodic death metal sound of that release into something more complex, emotional, distinct, and devastatingly heavy.

"Evolution" was not just the title of ONCE HUMAN's sophomore release last year — it was an armor-plated declaration. And it evolved into something big.

The video for their lead-off single "Eye Of Chaos" has hit more than 7.5 million views on YouTube alone.

"Stage Of Evolution" is the consequential mutation of the "Evolution" album from studio to stage. It was recorded during last year's U.S. tour and features songs from the studio album. It also includes a cover of MACHINE HEAD's "Davidian", a track from that band's 1994 debut album "Burn My Eyes", co-written by ONCE HUMAN's Logan Mader, whose name will be familiar to metalheads not only as the original guitarist in MACHINE HEAD and his late '90s stint in SOULFLY, but also for his production and mixing work on records from the likes of GOJIRA, FEAR FACTORY and DEVILDRIVER.

Beside singer Lauren Hart unleashing her forceful voice, the track also features guest vocals by Frédéric Leclercq of SINSAENEUM and DRAGONFORCE.

"I know it's uncommon for a band who is not headlining to record a live album," said Mader. "We were able to pull it off because today's technology and compact size of the necessary gear is a part of our everyday monitoring system. We had loads of fun on tour with DRAGONFORCE. I'm so glad we captured a nice piece of it to share with all our fans."

With the lineup rounded out by drummer Dillon Trollope, bassist Damien Rainaud, and guitarist Max Karon, everything about "Evolution" and its live counterpart "Stage Of Evolution" makes it clear that this is a band pushing itself to deliver something that truly stands apart.

"Stage Of Evolution" track listing:

01. Eye Of Chaos

02. Killers For The Cure

03. Mass Murder Frenzy

04. Gravity

05. Passenger

06. Pick Your Poison

07. Paragon

08. Davidian (feat. Frédéric Leclercq)

LINKIN PARK Members Pay Tribute To CHESTER BENNINGTON On First Anniversary Of His Death

LINKIN PARK Members Pay Tribute To CHESTER BENNINGTON On First Anniversary Of His Death

The surviving members of LINKIN PARK have paid tribute to Chester Bennington on the first anniversary of his death.

The LINKIN PARK frontman was found dead in his residence in Palos Verdes near Los Angeles. Although it as reported immediately that he had hanged himself, there were questions about possible drug abuse. It wasn't until the autopsy was released in December, that we learned definitively that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the cause of death.

Earlier today, Mike Shinoda (vocals), Brad Delson (guitar), Dave Farrell (bass), Joe Hahn (programming) and Rob Bourdon (drums) shared a heartfelt note to their late bandmate, remembering him as a "one-of-a-kind spirit" who is missed "more than words can express."

The full message reads as follows:

"To our brother Chester,

"It has been a year since your passing — a surreal rotation of grief, heartbreak, refusal, and recognition. And yet it sill feels like you are close by, surrounding us with your memory and your light. Your one-of-a-kind spirit has authored an indelible imprint on our hearts — our jokes, our joy, and our tenderness.

"Eternally grateful for the love, life, and creative passion you shared with us and the world. We miss you more than words can express.

"Love,

"M, J, D, R, B"

Earlier this year, Chester's widow, Talinda who has been a loud advocate in bringing awareness to mental health issues, announced the 320 Changes Direction campaign created in honor of her late husband to educate about mental illness. This was launched through ChangeDirection.org, which points out five signs to be aware of.

In October, LINKIN PARK took to the Hollywood Bowl stage for an emotional three-hour tribute concert featuring guest such as BLINK-182, members of KORN, NO DOUBT, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, BUSH, and several others. Some of the band's biggest hits, including "Numb" and "In The End", were sung entirely by the audience, while a spotlight focused on a solitary mic stand on the stage. Proceeds from the concert, were set aside for the Music For Relief's One More Light Fund.

Just this week, Shinoda told France's United Rock Nations that he was "open" to the idea of doing shows in the future with LINKIN PARK, saying: "I'm just taking it one step at a time and keeping my mind open to the possibilities — whether it's doing things under my name or working with other artists or producing tracks for somebody else or if the guys are at a point where they wanna play LINKIN PARK shows, I'm sure that any of those things are possibilities and I'm just open to whatever happens."

To our brother Chester,

BLACK MIRRORS Release "Moonstone" Music Video

BLACK MIRRORS Release "Moonstone" Music Video

Black Mirrors will release their full-length debut album Look Into The Black Mirror via Napalm Records on August 31st. It is a prime example of all the wonderful stuff that can happen when you sell your soul to Indie, snotty garage rock, blues and some stoner rock.

The ban have released a video for the second single, "Moonstone", which proves once more, that these Belgian rockers are here to stay. “Moonstone” opens wide otherworldly landscapes, which become visible in the video. It’s the versatile mix of deep feelings and pure emotions that make Black Mirrors a new rising star.

Singer Marcella Di Troia on “Moonstone”: “We are super excited to release our brand new single and video clip for 'Moonstone'! Our upcoming album Look Into The Black Mirror shows a lot of diversity and 'Moonstone' probably is the slowest track on the album. It deals about… love. More particularly about all the insecurity and grief that comes with falling in love. It’s definitely one of our favourite songs ever written and we hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we do!

"For the video we worked again with our dear friend Sébastien Van Malleghem, as for our previous video clip 'Günther Kimmich'. We had such a great time recording it in the Tabernas desert in southern Spain!”

The beautifully unchained Marcella Di Troia sings, screams, croons and whispers on otherworldly ballads like "Moonstone"or "Inner Reality" and over the danceable grooves of "Lay My Burden Down" - and the band keeps the hypnotic beats and thunderous riff walls coming on their debut album Look Into The Black Mirror. She's literally the new voice of rock n' roll!

Pierre Lateur (guitarist) on the album Look Into The Black Mirror: "Look Into The Black Mirror is the result of all our personal, musical and spiritual experiences we've went through during the past five years. Overall the album is very song-oriented as we believe that 'melody' is the most important element in music. We dug into every aspect of what we enjoy in music; from straightforward heavy rock songs to very intimate, groovy or acoustic tunes. We recorded the album already months ago, and even after all this time we're still getting more proud of what we pulled off. We are so excited to finally share these songs with the world after such a long time! We'll play a lot of them on tour after the summer!"

DESTRUCTION Officially Welcomes New Drummer RANDY BLACK

DESTRUCTION Officially Welcomes New Drummer RANDY BLACK

German thrash metal legends DESTRUCTION have officially welcomed Randy Black (ANNIHILATOR, PRIMAL FEAR) into the fold, after a gruelling probation that involved an extensive tour and many shows around the globe.

Randy will make his official debut as the band's new drummer at the Wacken Open Air festival on August 3.

DESTRUCTION bassist/vocalist Schmier states: "Many years ago, when Randy was still with PRIMAL FEAR and we were looking for a drummer, it was the first time we talked about DESTRUCTION's open drummer seat. But we did not wanna approach them at that time because of his obligation with good friends. Some years later he filled in for Vaaver on the American tour with SEPULTURA because Vaaver became a father again at that time. So it was obvious for me to pass the baton to Randy first this time. And he blew us all away with his tight, groovy and over-the-top drumming. He's also a very cool Canadian lad that lives in Germany for many years now — so it was a perfect match right away! Hell-come on board buddy!"

Guitar player Mike adds: "It's surely not easy to replace an outstanding drummer like Vaaver! But the show must go on, and Randy kicks in like a motherfucker... solid, groovy, heavy, humble.... He's on fire! Get prepared, my friends…"

Randy said: "After a recent successful tour of Asia, Australia and a handful of great festival shows, I'm very happy to announce my position as the new drummer for the thrash metal legends DESTRUCTION!

"35 years running! Try to wrap your head around that!

"I'm looking forward to continuing the DESTRUCTION legacy together with Schmier and Mike, including plans of recording a kick-ass new CD and touring the planet. I'm chomping at the bit to get out there and thrash for all you crazy metalheads on the road soon!"

DESTRUCTION last year released a new "best-of-old-school" album, "Thrash Anthems II", via Nuclear Blast. The follow-up to 2007's "Thrash Anthems" once again featured re-recorded versions of some of the band's timeless classics.

SYMPHONY X Guitarist MICHAEL ROMEO: 'Fear The Unknown' Video

SYMPHONY X Guitarist MICHAEL ROMEO: 'Fear The Unknown' Video

The official video for the song "Fear The Unknown" from internationally acclaimed guitar hero Michael Romeo can be seen below. The track is taken from his solo album, "War Of The Worlds / Pt. 1", which will be released on July 27 via Music Theories Recordings / Mascot Label Group.

Speaking about the video, Romeo explains: "Another one of my favorite tracks. This is the second track on the album after the 'Introduction', and I wanted something uptempo, melodic, with some 'riffage' happening. 'Fear The Unknown', along with 'Black', were two of the first songs I wrote for this album."

The wildly ambitious 10-song disc sees the founder, chief songwriter and prime mover of the progressive titans SYMPHONY X furthering his reputation as one of the world's preeminent axe slingers and composers of adventurous, multi-faceted orchestral metal.

"It's me putting all the things I love about music in a blender," says Romeo. "Somebody might listen to it and say, ‘What is this guy thinking?' But it's all about being creative and having a good time with it."

No doubt there will rapturous responses from Romeo's longtime fans. While "War Of The Worlds / Pt. 1" brims with the kind of thrill-seeking guitar chops that have placed the Garden State shredder in numerous "all-time greats" lists, it also offers some unconventional twists: Along with classic metal textures, Romeo pays homage to film score giants Bernard Hermann and John Williams, and there's even some surprising EDM/dubstep elements guaranteed to turn heads — all of which makes for an enthralling and immersive journey.

Recalling the forbidding tone of the notorious H.G. Wells novel that inspired its name, Romeo casts the lead track, "Introduction", as a precursor for what is to follow. The dark, symphonic instrumental (equal parts Bernard Herman and Gustav Holst) gives way to the pummeling metal double-header of "Fear The Unknown" and "Black", on which Romeo's rifftastic twists and turns are ably assisted by Rick Castellano's soaring vocals.

A startling change-up occurs with "F*cking Robots", a striking mash-up of digital blurps, bleeps, DJ-like scratches and ace guitar madness. "My fans might think I've lost my mind on this one," the axeman jokes. But just as quickly, he floors the six-string goodness on "Djinn", an epic, theatrical rock roller coaster on which the rhythm section of John "JD" DeServio (bass) and John Macaluso (drums) provide a muscular backdrop for the guitarist's elastic soloing and Castellano's full-throated vocal chops.

The lush balladry of "Believe" is a big-hearted respite from the shards of molten metal, but Romeo whips out the doomsday riffage on "Differences" and "Oblivion", both chock full of widescreen hooks and synapse-altering solos.

Closing out the set is the cinematic musical odyssey "Constellations", which sees guitars and keyboards majestically taking flight into a kind of heretofore unseen otherworld. "That one probably took the longest to create of all the songs on the record," Romeo recalls. "It wasn't just the recording — it was the writing and scoring. I had to break out the pencil and paper on that one. But I couldn't be happier with the results. It really ends the album on a powerful note."

Romeo recorded the bulk of "War Of The Worlds / Pt. 1" over a year-and-a-half period in the comfort of his home studio (nicknamed "the Dungeon" by his wife) in Hazlet, New Jersey. The project gave him the perfect opportunity to work with the rising Long Island star Castellano, a singer he's had his eye on for some time, as well as fellow Jerseyans Macaluso and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY member DeServio. "JD and I went to high school together," Romeo notes. "We always wanted to do something together, so this was the perfect opportunity. The planets finally aligned, and we were able to work together. It was great to have him play on it."

SYMPHONY X fans have been waiting two decades for an honest to goodness Michael Romeo solo album (not counting his 1994 demo recording, "The Dark Chapter", which was released in several countries), and the arrival of "War Of The Worlds / Pt. 1" will be no doubt be cause for celebration. And the guitarist promises a sequel. "Most of Part II is already finished," he says, "It just needs a few vocals, a couple solos, a few tweaks here and there. I want people to absorb the first one for a while, and then we'll put out the second record. They'll complement each other, but they'll also be a bit different."

EXTREMITY Streaming Coffin Birth Album Ahead Of Tomorrow's Official Release

EXTREMITY Streaming Coffin Birth Album Ahead Of Tomorrow's Official Release

Oakland's Extremity will issue their proper debut full-length, Coffin Birth, via 20 Buck Spin tomorrow, July 20th. Preceding its official release, the album oozes forth through an exclusive early stream at Bandcamp alongside an interrogation of its members, whom also hail from Vastum, Ludicra, Agalloch, Repulsion, Cretin, and many other Bay Area acts. Stream the album via Bandcamp's exclusive feature here.

Extremity burst like a pustule onto the death metal scene in 2017 with their Extremely Fucking Dead mini-LP. Its five ferocious tracks gave the first taste of what was to come, and now the band returns with its debut full length album, Coffin Birth, a hideous ode to the genre's past and present.

As with its predecessor, Coffin Birth was recorded at Oakland's Earhammer Studios - the birthplace for so many of today's standout death metal releases - the album boasting both surgical clarity and pummelling raw aggression. In combination with the attention to detail in both song and lyric writing, Extremity exhumes a debut album born straight from a coffin.

Right from the start of the menacing opening intro track "Coffin Birth / A Million Witches," Extremity brutalizes with a hammer of pulverizing devastation and a defined melodic sensibility. Memorable and outright catchy songs that seamlessly veer from grinding speed to crushingly mid-paced unfold via a sordid concept that may reveal itself with careful attention.

Featuring vividly grim cover artwork by Andrei Bouzikov (Municipal Waste, Autopsy, Toxic Holocaust), and a guest appearance by Antti Bowman of Demilich, Extremity's Coffin Birth is a prime acquisition for those who feast upon the works of Exhumed, Repulsion, Autopsy, Carcass, Death, Bolt Thrower, Impaled, Vastum, and Entombed.

Coffin Birth will be available on CD, LP, cassette, and digital formats; find pre-orders here.

Tracklisting:

"Coffin Birth / A Million Witches"
"Where Evil Dwells"
"Grave Mistake"
"Umbilicus"
"For Want Of A Nail"

LA CHINGA Debuts "Killer Wizard" Music Video

LA CHINGA Debuts "Killer Wizard" Music Video

Hard rock power trio La Chinga will release their new full-length Beyond The Sky via Small Stone on September 7th. Pre-orders can be found at this location. Check out a video for the track "Killer Wizard" below.

The follow-up to La Chinga's 2016 critically-lauded Freewheelin' full-length was captured at Vancouver's fabled Warehouse studio with no-less-fabled producer Jamey Koch (DOA, Copyright, Tragically Hip). Opening track "Nothin' That I Can't Do" sets the agenda for Beyond The Sky's 45 minutes of sublimely confident freedom rock, sometimes meaty and beaty ("Mama Boogie," "Death Rider"), sometimes glam-handed ("Killer Wizard"), and occasionally even dirtbag pretty ("Keep On Rollin'). When it all melts into a puddle of phased goo in the final bars of "Warlords," the listener has been rolled, boogied, and otherwise supernaturally conveyed well beyond the sky, maybe even beyond ridiculous.

Tracklisting:

BLOODTRUTH To Release Martyrium Album In September; Details Revealed

BLOODTRUTH To Release Martyrium Album In September; Details Revealed

Vicious Italian death metal group Bloodtruth are set to unleash their blistering sophomore full length Martyrium on September 28th via Unique Leader. The ferocious and uncompromising 10-track album was mixed and mastered by Italian producer Stefano Morabito at 16th Cellar Studios (Fleshgod Apocalypse, Hour Of Penance) and features artwork by Jose Sabogal (Beheaded, Inferno).

Martyrium sees Bloodtruth, who were formed in 2009 as a side project of Fleshgod Apocalypse members but now features the lineup of vocalist Luis Maggio, guitarists Stefano Ciucci and Stefano Clementini, bassist Riccardo Rogari, and drummer Giacomo Torti, truly coming into their own as a force to be reckoned with in extreme music. Martyrium is 10 tracks of pure death metal aggression, unrelenting musical intensity, and powerful, acidic, hateful vocals.

The band commented on the album, "The main themes interlinking the wide range of subjects covered in Martyrium are human sacrifice, carnage and slaughter which the Christian Church carried out against all those found guilty of being “heretics”. In this album, historical and ethical relevance are both firmly bonded to the circumstances and facts mentioned in the lyrics. Bloodtruth decided to take into account some of the events narrated in the famous bestseller The Name Of The Rose (Umberto Eco, 1980) and its vast number of historical and philosophical references, mostly focusing on the martyrdom topic too. The new artwork masterpiece, done by the highly acclaimed Peruvian artist Josè Gabriel Alegria Sabogal (Beheaded, Inferno) fits perfectly with this concept."

Guitarist and co-songwriter Stefano Rossi Ciucci added, "Martyrium is a concept album. We took a really long time to release it but we believe that's a sign of more maturity and determination within the band. We always follow our feelings and try to express our state of mind through our music, and what we have in our hands now is the darkest and brutal Bloodtruth album ever!"

Martyrium tracklisting:

"1184 P.C."
"Centuries Of Intolerance (Danse Macabre)"
"Schismatical Crusades "
"Inner Resurrection "
"Peste Noire"
"Prelude To Havoc"
"The Tome Of Suffering"
"Persecution"
"The Last Prophet"
"Martyrium"

Pre-orders and more Bloodtruth news will be forthcoming very soon.

STATUS QUO Streaming "Whatever You Want" From Upcoming Down Down & Dignified At The Royal Albert Hall Release; Audio

Status Quo are to release a pair of ‘twin’ live albums, Down Down & Dignified At The Royal Albert Hall and Down Down & Dirty At Wacken on August 17th through earMUSIC. These releases capture the legendary band delivering two sets, each full of hits, energy and passion, while each offering a radically different tone and style of delivery. Listen to "Whatever You Want" from Down Down & Dignified At The Royal Albert Hall below.

Francis Rossi said, “There’s no other venue like the Royal Albert Hall, every artist wants to play there. So, to bring our Aquostic show there was a dream come true. The Quo classics were stripped back and delivered by the band in a new fresh way that really allows the melodies to shine. Fully acoustic and featuring some fantastic extra musicians and vocalists, this is a show we’ll always be proud of. Wacken is like no other festival. The energy, the crowd, the volume. Where better for Quo to get down and dirty and crank out all of the Quo classics as loud as possible? Naturally, this was a full electric set, delivered at full throttle. Nothing else would be acceptable at Wacken! It’s full-blooded performances like this that Quo’s reputation is built on.”

Status Quo have sold more than 118 million records, received countless gold awards and top 10 singles, played over 6000 shows together and spent 23 years away from home on tour to rock around the world. The lineup for both these shows, recorded last year, features Francis Rossi, Andrew Bown, John ‘Rhino’ Edwards, Leon Cave and Richie Malone.

Down Down & Dignified At The Royal Albert Hall and Down Down & Dirty At Wacken demonstrate both the evergreen quality of the timeless Quo catalogue, the sheer musicianship and stagecraft required to deliver those hits, and the versatility of the band. Who else but Quo could deliver the stunning sets captured on these twin releases of such wildly differing style and be equally happy taking to the stage at the venerable Royal Albert Hall and in the midst of the Wacken wildness?

Pre-order Down Down & Dirty At Wacken here, and Down Down & Dignified At The Royal Albert Hall here.
