MIRACLE Premiers "Night Sides" Music Video

MIRACLE Premiers "Night Sides" Music Video

Miracle have released a video for "Night Sides", a track from their new album The Strife Of Love In A Dream, out now via Relapse Records. Watch the clip below.

This is the union of two artists with rich and unique trajectories in music. Steve Moore as one half of the progressive post-rock duo Zombi, composer of contemporary horror soundtracks including The Guest and The Mind’s Eye and solo producer of masterful synthesizer music cruising the hinterland of new-age kosmische, galactic disco and bakelite infused techno. Multi-instrumentalist Daniel O’Sullivan has explored the omniverse with a myriad of art rock luminaries including Ulver, Grumbling Fur, Æthenor, Sunn O))), Guapo, Mothlite and This Is Not This Heat. His solo career has seen him embark upon a bricolage of neo-classical composition, electroacoustic music, and luminous psychedelic songcraft.

On The Strife Of Love In A Dream (a title borrowed from the early renaissance allegorical novel ‘Hypnerotomachia Poliphili’), a haunted jukebox plays the soundtrack to a silvery universe of sulphurous canyons, lunar gardens and prismatic megastructures. A gothic psychodrama drawing on visions of the distant past and near future. Reconciling polarities of the arcane and the hypermodern, the sacred and the profane, the small and the infinite, the phantasmic and the familiar, paranoia and clarity.

Physical orders are available via Relapse.com here and digital downloads are available here.

STRYPER Plays First Concert With New Bassist PERRY RICHARDSON (Video)

STRYPER Plays First Concert With New Bassist PERRY RICHARDSON (Video)

STRYPER played its first show with new bassist Perry Richardson (ex-FIREHOUSE) Saturday night (April 28) at the Frontiers Rock Festival in Milan, Italy. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below.

STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet stated about the gig: "Although we had a few technical difficulties, it was an amazing night!! The people of Italy are beautiful and we hope to return soon. We want to thank everyone who traveled so far to see the show as well!!

"The band did an outstanding job and specifically Perry. He had an entire set to learn (20 songs) and he absolutely nailed it!! The harmonies, the playing and the vibe.

"We're looking forward to hitting the road in a few days in support of our new album. We hope to see all of you at the shows coming up. It's going to be the best year yet."

STRYPER's new album, "God Damn Evil", was released on April 20 via Frontiers Music Srl. The follow-up to 2015's "Fallen" marks the band's first effort since the addition of Richardson. Perry joined the band as the replacement for STRYPER's longtime bassist Tim Gaines, who was fired from the group last year.

Perry did not play bass on STRYPER's new album due to scheduling constraints. The bass tracks on "God Damn Evil" were laid down by John O'Boyle, who played bass on Sweet's last two solo albums.

Sweet told AXS about how Richardson came to join STRYPER: "Perry's name came on our radar from Dave Rose, who co-manages us. We flew him out and instantly fell in love with him. He's the real deal. A nice, humble guy who brought something into the band that hadn't been there in a while. He has such a high level of joy and peace. Then, when we heard him play and sing, we were floored. We're so blessed to have him. We're excited about Perry performing on the next album and singing as well."

GLENN TIPTON Rejoins JUDAS PRIEST On Stage In Dallas (Video)

GLENN TIPTON Rejoins JUDAS PRIEST On Stage In Dallas (Video)

Guitarist Glenn Tipton rejoined his JUDAS PRIEST bandmates on stage Saturday night (April 28) at The Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas to perform the concert's three-song encore: "Metal Gods", "Breaking The Law" and "Living After Midnight". Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be seen below.

Tipton — who revealed in February that he has Parkinson's disease — previously played the same three songs with JUDAS PRIEST at several other stops on the band's current tour, including in Newark, New Jersey; Uncasville, Connecticut; Worcester, Massachusetts; Kent, Washington; Portland, Oregon; San Francisco, California; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Los Angeles, California. It marked his first public performances since announcing his retirement from touring. He told BUILD Series about the experience of once again sharing the stage with his bandmates: "It's just amazing to get, first of all, support from the band. The texts and e-mails from all over world, and to hear the audience was very emotional. You don't like to see a grown man cry, but we did."

Asked if he is planning on making more live appearances with the group, Glenn told 105.7 WAPL: "I think so, yeah. As long as I'm capable of going on stage and doing my parts and doing it well. I love it — I love to be on stage with PRIEST, and I'll do it for as long as I can."

Tipton found out he had Parkinson's four years ago — after being stricken by the degenerative condition at least half a decade earlier — but only recently announced he was going to sit out touring activities in support of PRIEST's latest album, "Firepower". The guitarist, who is now 70 and has performed on every PRIEST LP since the band's 1974 debut set, "Rocka Rolla", is not quitting the band, but simply cannot handle the rigorous challenges of performing live. He is being replaced on tour by "Firepower" album producer Andy Sneap, also known for his work as the guitar player in NWOBHM revivalists HELL and cult thrash outfit SABBAT.

JUDAS PRIEST kicked off the "Firepower" world tour on March 13 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

"Firepower" was released on March 9 via Epic.

The North American leg of the "Firepower" tour will wrap on May 1 in San Antonio, Texas.

Reunited HITTMAN Plays First Comeback Concert (Video)

Reunited HITTMAN Plays First Comeback Concert (Video)

Reunited 1980s New York metal band HITTMAN played its first comeback concert last night (Tuesday, April 24) at Blackthorn 51 in Elmhurst, New York. The group played a selection of cuts from its classic 1988 self-titled debut album as well as two new songs that will be included on HITTMAN's new CD, to be released soon.

Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be seen below.

HITTMAN's first LP was reissued last October via No Remorse Records. Also included as bonus material was the original 1985 HITTMAN demo, remixed and remastered faithfully to the original, making this the first time it will have been released officially in the digital medium — a real treat for fans who have most likely only have heard it as a copied cassette, widely traded through the metal tape trading underground, often duplicated many generations, with tons of tape hiss, and degraded audio quality.

The release boasted cleaner, more vivid re-imagined cover art (yet still a hundred percent faithful to the original) and was accompanied by a generous booklet of twenty-four pages containing never-seen photos, articles and other anecdotes, as well as liner notes by the underground press's first real champion of the band, Kerrang! and Metal Forces journalist Dave Reynolds. Dave took to the band early on, and was always an ardent supporter.

HITTMAN will next perform at the the Keep It True festival in Lauda-Königshofen, Germany with a lineup including all four surviving original members: Dirk Kennedy (vocals), Jim Bacchi (previously known as Bachi; guitar), Chuck Khoury (previously known as Kory; drums) and John Inglima (previously known as Kristen; guitars). Joining them on bass is Greg Bier.

HITTMAN bassist Mike Buccellato (previously known as Buccell) passed away tragically in 2013 and the band, still a tight-knit family, decided to reunite, partially, to pay tribute to his honor, but also to commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the release of "Hittman". The album (and demo), still coveted by many fans of traditional, classic and power metal, has been kept alive by unofficial bootlegs, and social media, and the band decided now was time to do an official re-release and present the best possible result.

WHO BROUGHT THE DOG Featuring THE NEW BLACK Guitarist And BraveWords Scribe Streaming New Song "Freakshow"

WHO BROUGHT THE DOG Featuring THE NEW BLACK Guitarist And BraveWords Scribe Streaming New Song "Freakshow"

Who Brought The Dog, the solo project launched by The New Black guitarist Fabian "Fabs" Schwarz featuring BraveWords scribe Carl Begai and The New Black drummer Philipp Klinger, are streaming a new song entitled "Freakshow". They have issued the following update:

"This is the big rock song complete with an infectious chorus and blazing guitar solo. Basically, Nickelback will wish they wrote it when they hear it. If anybody has Chad's number let us know....

Lyrically, 'Freakshow' takes a shot at the talent-free morons we see on television every week who sacrifice their self respect and integrity as entertainment industry puppets rather than doing any actual work to become famous. It's a cautionary tale told from the point of view of the Suit And Tie Guy who makes a living off the wannabe superstars that, as we all know, disappear when the cameras stop rolling."

Who Brought The Dog recently released a cover of the song "Eisbär" (German for polar bear). Fabs issued the following update:

"I know this song has been covered a million times before, but who cares. This is my version, with a little black metal twist. Love this song."

"Eisbär" is a 1980 "cult" favourite written by the Swiss Neue Deutsche Welle band Grauzone. It first appeared on the 1980 compilation album Swiss Wave - The Album. The shorter single version later appeared on the Grauzone album, Die Sunrise Tapes in 1998.

Who Brought The Dog have released two songs for free via Bandcamp. "I'm With The Banned" is an anti-bullying, anti-racism, anti-sexism, anti-Trump rant, "Three Days" is a cancer survivor song, lyrics written by Carl and Canadian rocker Bif Naked.

The download is free, but anyone interested in supporting Deutsche Krebshilfe / German Cancer Aid (www.krebshilfe.de) can make donations on Bandcamp. Please add the code AK 49006511 to your PayPal transaction.

Guitarist BILL HUDSON Exits U.D.O. And DIRKSCHNEIDER After Only A Year

Guitarist BILL HUDSON Exits U.D.O. And DIRKSCHNEIDER After Only A Year

Bill Hudson has exited U.D.O. and DIRKSCHNEIDER — the two groups fronted by former ACCEPT singer Udo Dirkschneider — after only a year.

The American-based guitarist and the German bands decided to go their own separate ways "due to a difference in their individual visions for the future," according to a statement released by Dirkschneider. The statement adds that there is no "negative feelings on either side."

Hudson made his live debut with DIRKSCHNEIDER on June 4, 2017 at the Rock Hard Festival in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

He hooked up with DIRKSCHNEIDER and U.D.O. as the replacement for Finnish guitarist Kasperi Heikkinen.

U.D.O.'s follow-up to 2015's "Decadent" album is tentatively due in August.

Dirkschneider has spent the last two years touring under the DIRKSCHNEIDER banner. The trek, which was originally supposed to conclude with the band's North American run in January/February 2017, has now been extended through the fall of 2018.

In addition to Udo and his son Sven (drums), the DIRKSCHNEIDER and U.D.O. bands include bassist Fitty Wienhold and guitarist Andrey Smirnov.

DIRKSCHNEIDER released "Live - Back To The Roots - Accepted!" last August as a DVD/2CD, Blu-ray/2CD and gatefold triple vinyl in two different colors.

Finland's JOYS OF WASTELAND Release New Single "Grab By The Neck"; Official Lyric Video Posted

Finland's JOYS OF WASTELAND Release New Single "Grab By The Neck"; Official Lyric Video Posted

Joys Of Wasteland (founded in 2014) is a five piece metal act from Finland signed to Inverse Records. Even though their music is diverse, there still is recognizable sound to be found. Each band member bring their own vision to a song, causing songs to variate from easy going rock riffs to progressive, complicated parts. In the music you can find influences from melodic death metal, progressive metal, groove metal and black metal.

The band has released a two song single for "Grab By The Neck", featuring the B-side "Joys Of Wasteland". Listen via Spotify and Deezer

"We chose these two songs to represent the diverse of our music. The other one is all about melodic death metal and the other one makes you jump around like a maniac. It was time to start recording our own music and we made the greatest decision to go to the Fantom studio leading Samu Oittinen. Songs were recorded, mixed and mastered by Samu," says guitarist Juha-Matti Vinkka.

TESLA Guitarist FRANK HANNON To Release From One Place... To Another Vol. 2 This Month; Includes AEROSMITH, BLACK SABBATH, HEART Covers

TESLA Guitarist FRANK HANNON To Release From One Place... To Another Vol. 2 This Month; Includes AEROSMITH, BLACK SABBATH, HEART Covers

Tesla's Frank Hannon will release the second instalment of his solo cover series, From One Place… To Another Vol. 2 on Friday, May 18th. As with Vol. 1, the album features a number of special guests, this time including Roger Fisher of Heart, Graham Whitford (son of Aerosmith's Brad Whitford), Duane Betts (son of Allman Brother's Dickey), Randy Hansen and Jared James Nichols.

The album is now available for pre-order at PledgeMusic in all formats plus gain access to exclusive merchandise including two instant song downloads of "Sing Child Song" (featuring Roger Risher) and "Lord Of The Thighs" (featuring Graham Whitford). Pre-order here.

"This volume  is definitely a step up for me as an artist,” declares Hannon. “I chose to sing some of my favorite songs from very different genres ranging from Aerosmith, Chaka Khan, Black Sabbath to Seal. I am proud of Volume 1 but Volume 2 came out a lot edgier and with some heavier tones.”

While Volume 1 was more roots and acoustic focused, From One Place… To Another Vol. 2 is all electric with full backing band, recorded in various locations with a portable recorder and eventually assembled back in Hannon's home studio.

“As it turns out, singing is becoming a lot of fun for me,” Hannon admits. “I’ve left the smoking guitar duties to some very special guests including the Jimi Hendrix tribute master Randy Hansen, Heart founder Roger Fisher, Jared James Nichols, as well as other guest artists who contributed flavors.”

Randy Hansen and Roger Fisher have always been heroes of Frank’s. “Known for his ‘Magic Man’ guitar sounds, Roger and I recorded a Heart classic ‘Sing Child'; which is almost as funky a song as the man himself."

A chance meeting south of the border led to the recording of a classic Aerosmith cut. "I ran into guitarist Graham Whitford in Mexico while on tour and asked him if he'd be interested in recording guitars on his Dad's song and he graciously obliged. Six months later we put it together via the internet and 'Lord of the Thighs' became a highlight for me."

The biggest surprise of the album is Frank's take on Seal's "Kiss From A Rose". "It's a vocal melody that has haunted me for years," he says. "When I decided to record it, I spent weeks researching Seal and learned how he wrote the song with no instruments, using only his voice as the music background. This really opened my eyes and ears to the power of a vocal melody that drives a song and I recorded it similarly on my portable 8-track in a dressing room on tour."

From One Place… To Another Vol. 2 tracklisting:

"Hush" (featuring Randy Hansen)
"Lord Of The Thighs" (featuring Graham Whitford)
"You Can’t Always Get What You Want" (featuring Duane Betts)
"Tell Me Somethin’ Good"
"Kiss From A Rose"
"Sing Child Sing" (featuring Roger Fisher)
"I Can See Clearly Now"
"Spanish Castle Magic" (featuring Randy Hansen)
"I Can Help"
"Sweet Leaf" (featuring Jared James Nichols)

Frank has a run of solo dates this week starting tomorrow on Long Island before he heads out on the road with Tesla in the middle of the month.

Frank Hannon solo dates:

May
2 - Amityville, NY - Revolution Bar & Music Hall
3 - Columbia, MD - Union Jack's
4 - Columbia, MD - M3 Festival
5 - Poughkeepsie, NY - The Loft at The Chance Theatre

Chicago sludge band Pale Horseman and Illinois craft brewery Soundgrowler Brewing Co. will release their signature double dry hopped American Pale Ale, Mashing Of Teeth, on Friday, May 4th. The release will be commemorated with performances in the taproom by Pale Horseman and fellow local sludge outfit These Beasts.

Under The Fragmented Sky'is the follow-up to 2017's Fractured. The album takes its name from the lyrics of the 12-minute epic "A Thousand Shards Of Heaven" from Fractured, and marks the 10th anniversary of Lunatic Soul.

"Untamed" is the first single to be taken from the new album and represents the multi-dimensional songwriting talent behind Lunatic Soul, with its uplifting nature and accessible elements.

Following on from Fractured, which covered content about grieving, hope and a separated society, Under The Fragmented Sky rebuilds Lunatic Soul as we know it, with dark and haunting atmospheres coming to the forefront.

Duda explains: "Fractured is not a full picture of the latest Lunatic Soul recordings. These more classical pieces have been waiting for their own time which has now come. ORANGE GOBLIN Live At Wacken Open Air 2017; Pro-Shot Video Of Full Performance Streaming

ORANGE GOBLIN Live At Wacken Open Air 2017; Pro-Shot Video Of Full Performance Streaming

Legendary British rock band Orange Goblin performed at Germany's Wacken Open Air festival in summer 2017. Professionally filmed video of the band's full set can be seen below.

Setlist:

"The Filthy And The Few"
"Turbo Effalunt"
"Scorpionica"
"The Devil's Whip"
"Saruman's Whish"
"Your World Will Hate This"
"They Come Back"
"Blue Snow"
"Quincy The Pig Boy"
"Red Tide Rising"

Orange Goblin are set to release their strongest and most diverse record to date with The Wolf Bites Back on June 15th via Candlelight Records. The band has also revealed the artwork for the album, alongside the turbocharged album opener "Sons Of Salem". Listen here.

Vocalist Ben Ward comments, "'Sons Of Salem' is the first track on the album and we consider it an Orange Goblin anthem. We see this song being a staple of the live set with the singalong chorus and the awesome, catchy riff. A mean and moody intro to the album that sets the tone throughout, it’s short, sweet and straight to the point. The lyrics are about the sons of the Salem witches returning from the grave to seek vengeance on the religious fools that murdered their mothers during the witch trials."

The album artwork, created by Roland Scriver (Serpent Venom), is exactly what the band had in mind when they all agreed on the album title. Ward adds, "We wanted something dark, menacing, striking and memorable all at once and we feel that Roland has certainly delivered that. We think it has the look of an iconic cover, one that you will recognise for years to come and one that perfectly represents the music on the record. The wolf is such an amazing beast. The wolf is predatory, vicious and a merciless hunter but at the same time so determined, smart, cunning and beautiful and the portrayal of the wolf about to strike on the cover is a great representation of the way we felt when writing this album."

Recorded at Orgone Studios in rural Bedfordshire with esteemed underground guru Jaime "Gomez" Arellano (Ghost, Grave Pleasures, Paradise Lost, Cathedral) at the controls, the new opus comes adorned with a raw but crystalline sound that has maximised Orange Goblin's extraordinary eight-legged chemistry.

Ward states, "Gomez has a very new, custom built studio in a really remote part of the English countryside so there are zero distractions and we were totally focused on the job at hand. We gave ourselves plenty of time so the vibe was relaxed and almost experimental. We were trying out new sounds and working with equipment and instruments that we may not have considered in the past. Gomez was like a fifth member of the band, constantly making useful suggestions. I think that the band's playing and songwriting on this album are the best they've ever been. It's a huge wall of sound and Gomez has recorded and mixed it perfectly."

Tracklisting:

"Sons Of Salem"
"The Wolf Bites Back"
"Renegade"
"Swords Of Fire"
"Ghosts Of The Primitives"
"In Bocca Al Lupo"
"Suicide Division"
"The Stranger"
"Burn The Ships"
"Zeitgeist"

SKULL FIST Frontman's FREEDUMB Release Official Video For "S.O.S. (Soldier Of Satan)"

Singer/guitarist Zach Slaughter (frontman for Skull Fist) has announced his new project, Freedumb. The musical style includes punk, acoustic, doom and traditional metal all combined with a cheeky sense of humour. The debut album Skate N Die will be released on May 18th via Boonsdale Records.

Zach Slaughter comments: "Since we're pulling a chinese democracy on the new Skull Fist album I decided to say goodbye to any credibility I have left. Nine tracks of pure bullshit. From doom or punk to classic heavy metal with some high notes and a few guitar solos... I think I might need to start drinking again?"

Check out the official video for "S.O.S. (Soldier of Satan)"

Freedumb’s debut release unleashes nine tracks of high energy punk/metal in the vein of Candlemass, Bad Religion, Dead Kennedys, Skull Fist, trademarked with Zach’s unique vocal style along with metal elements and virtuoso guitar solos, plus the lyrical humour of NOFX / Frank Zappa. Skate N Die offers an alternate approach to mainstream music that can give attention to the counter culture of today’s social circles.

Tracklisting:

"Punch Patrol"
"S.O.S."
"Shark Attack"
"Grand Canyon"
"Jerkathon"
"Skate N Die"
"Anarchy Will Prevail"

Video: Former JUDAS PRIEST, MEGADETH Members Perform Heavy Metal Classics In Montreal

Video: Former JUDAS PRIEST, MEGADETH Members Perform Heavy Metal Classics In Montreal

Vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN), guitarist Glen Drover (MEGADETH, KING DIAMOND, TESTAMENT, EIDOLON), drummer Shawn Drover (MEGADETH, ACT OF DEFIANCE, EIDOLON) and bassist Adrian Robichaud (EIDOLON) joined forces to perform heavy metal classics under the A NIGHT OF METAL banner on April 12 at Piranha Bar in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be seen below.

Glen, Shawn and Adrian have a shared 10-year history as members of EIDOLON on Metal Blade Records. "Shawn is my brother, and Tim and I have been friends for a while," Glen told The Cornwall Seeker. "So when we put this together, and needed a bassist, it was a no-brainer to call Adrian. The chemistry is there, and that's especially important when we only do these shows once in a while. I live in Windsor, and the others live in Atlanta, Ohio, and all over the map. We can't spend a week in rehearsal. We need people we can rely on."

Regarding A NIGHT OF METAL's live performances, Glen said: "The fans can identify with both the music and the members of our band. Whether we play MEGADETH or JUDAS PRIEST or other classic metal like OZZY OSBOURNE, we're good at what we do, and it's a great show."

Owens recorded two studio albums with JUDAS PRIEST — 1997's "Jugulator" and 2001's "Demolition" — before the band reunited with Rob Halford.

Glen left MEGADETH at the end of 2007 and was replaced by Chris Broderick, who previously played with NEVERMORE and JAG PANZER.

Shawn joined MEGADETH in 2004 as the replacement for Nick Menza, who had only just rejoined the group. Drover performed on four MEGADETH studio records: 2007's "United Abominations", 2009's "Endgame", 2011's "TH1RT3EN" and 2013's "Super Collider".

Cult Swedish Metal Band ICE AGE Releases 'Clever' Video

Cult Swedish Metal Band ICE AGE Releases 'Clever' Video

Cult Swedish metal band ICE AGE has released the official music video for the song "Clever". The track is taken from the group's debut album, "Breaking The Ice", which came out last October via GMR/PHD. The disc, which was laid down at Gothenburg Rock Studios, features re-recorded versions of five classic songs from the original demos plus five brand new songs.

Regarding the video for "Clever", frontwoman Sabrina Kihlstrand says: "We are incredibly happy to present our second video from our album 'Breaking The Ice'. The video is directed by Berget Bergman (MMI, REIGNSAW) and was filmed during our Scandinavian tour with REIGNSAW and F.K.Ü. The song itself is about being let down by a friend from an ironic perspective."

As one of the more acclaimed thrash bands in Europe during the 1980s, it was nothing short of criminal that the all-female lineup ICE AGE never got to release any material except via their classic demo tapes.

ICE AGE's current lineup consists of original members Sabrina Kihlstrand (rhythm guitar and vocals) and Viktoria Larsson (bass), alongside André Holmqvist (drums) and Linnéa Landstedt (lead guitar).

ICE AGE, from Gothenburg in Sweden, was formed in January 1985 by Kihlstrand and Pia Nyström, who met through an ad in a music store. The band lineup was completed with Sabrina's sister, Helena, and Tina Strömberg behind the drums.

During the band's early stages, they were more power metal-oriented, and this sound fed through their first demo, "Rock Solid", (which was the band's original short-lived name before changing to ICE AGE — something more akin with their origins in the cold winters of Scandinavia).

There then came the first of the band's lineup changes when Helena passed over her bass duties to Larsson at the end of 1986.

Their sound gradually became more raw, which distanced them from the more standard metal riffs of IRON MAIDEN and QUEENSRŸCHE, and more towards the thrash style of early MEGADETH and METALLICA.

ICE AGE played very technical thrash, which can be heard in their demos "General Alert" (1987) and another that was untitled (1988).

The band toured in several countries and played many festivals, including the well-known Open Air in Lamone, Switzerland, in front of five thousand people. They also played the legendary Marquee club in London.

The four Swedes gradually gained more and more popularity, which surged after the recording of their next demo, "Instant Justice", in 1989.

Midway through their next tour came a major problem though: vocalist Sabrina left the band due to irreconcilable problems with the band's then-manager.

Curiously, it wasn't one but two new members that replaced her: the Italian guitarist Isabella Fronzoni and American Debbie Gunn on vocals. This lineup existed only for six months and yet again, problems with the bands then-manager were too difficult to repair.

Finally, ICE AGE split in 1990 after having sold thousands of copies of their demos.

Over the years, the interest from fans worldwide has remained, and although ICE AGE may have long been split, they have not been forgotten.

WITHERFALL To Record Second Album

WITHERFALL To Record Second Album

U.S. epic metal shooting stars WITHERFALL will enter the studio later this month to record their second album, titled "A Prelude To Sorrow". The follow-up to "Nocturnes And Requiems" is tentatively due in early November via Century Media Records.

The band comments: "WITHERFALL have finished writing and are deep into pre-production of our second LP. On 15 May, WITHERFALL will head into the studio to self-produce our follow-up to 'Nocturnes And Requiems'. Tracking and engineering wizardry will be handled by JJ Crews at Boogie Tracks studios in Panama City. The compositions are both melodically violent and beautifully aggressive with a much darker tone than 'Nocturnes'. More news to follow..."

Krisitan Wåhlin, who has painted the hauntingly beautiful cover artwork of "Nocturnes And Requiems" and who is known for his work for bands as KING DIAMOND, TIAMAT, DISSECTION and many others, is already working on the cover for "A Prelude To Sorrow".

WITHERFALL stirred up the international scene with its unique approach of combining epic metal with dark heavy metal and complex yet catchy progressive metal to style that reminds of early CRIMSON GLORY, the "Conspiracy"/"The Eye" era of KING DIAMOND and the great achievements of bands like NEVERMORE, FATES WARNING and QUEENSRŸCHE.

The band features guitarist Jake Dreyer (ICED EARTH, KOBRA AND THE LOTUS, WHITE WIZZARD) and singer Joseph Michael (WHITE WIZZARD, SANCTUARY)

WITHERFALL 2018 lineup (from left to right in photo):

Joseph Michael - Vocals, Keyboards

Anthony Crawford - Bass

Steve Bolognese - Drums

Jake Dreyer - Guitars

Former NEVERMORE And FORBIDDEN Guitarist TIM CALVERT Dies At 52

Former NEVERMORE And FORBIDDEN Guitarist TIM CALVERT Dies At 52

Former FORBIDDEN and NEVERMORE guitarist Tim Calvert died this morning after battling an aggressive form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS. He was only 52 years old.

Tim's passing was announced by his sister, Vicky Calvert-Hawkins, who wrote in a Facebook post: "Myself and my husband Bret (along with several wonderful doctors, and hospice providers) are so honored to have been able to be Tim's caregiver, in our home, for the last five months. We are so incredibly thankful to have had this time to spend with Tim.

"November 7, 1965 - April 30, 2018. Note the dash '-' in the dates. Life is all about how you live your dash '-'... And you, my dearest Timothy, did one hell of a badass, bang-up job living your dash to its fullest. Well done! Incredible musician, airline captain, world traveler, lover of nature and animals, faithful Oakland Raiders and Oakland A's fan, comedian and supreme master guru of WW II military/aviation history and memorabilia. I love you, big bro. Cheers, until I see you again."

Calvert played on three FORBIDDEN albums — 1990's "Twisted Into Form", 1994's "Distortion" and 1997's "Green" — as well as one NEVERMORE LP, 1999's "Dreaming Neon Black".

FORBIDDEN guitarist Craig Locicero mourned Tim's death in a Facebook post. He wrote: "Beyond sorrow. We just found out Tim Calvert has passed. Some have known he was battling an aggressive form of ALS for a while now. It was all very private as per his wishes.

"The greatest songwriter, musician and guitarist I have ever had the pleasure or creating music with has left the building. Tim's genius will live on forever in the three FORBIDDEN records he helped create with us."

Added FORBIDDEN bassist Matt Camacho: "The great Tim Calvert passed away quietly this morning with his family present. It's so like Tim to request we keep it quiet because he was such a humble soul. I believe he just didn't want anyone to make a fuss over him.

"Everyone who knows Tim is a better person for it. He was the kinda guy who had no enemies and was extremely talented at everything he does. Always really funny, the kind of guy who always had the witty comeback and could talk shit with the best of them, which when living on a tour bus was essential to be able to put bandmembers in their place.

"When he joined FORBIDDEN, I barely knew how to play, and [Paul] Bostaph [drums] and Locicero didn’t have a lot of patience to show me the songs. I would spend many hours as Tim walked me through all of the painstaking details and putting in his own time making sure I wouldn't get booted from the band.

"Not a lot of people know this about Tim, but after he stepped away from NEVERMORE, who was even a bigger band than FORBIDDEN, he went on to become a pilot and became a captain at United.

"What a badass motherfucker... Dude left a legacy of incredible guitar playing and became an expert in a field people spend their whole life trying to achieve.

"What a fine job you did, Tim Calvert… Life well lived!

"The good ones die way fucking too young... This one is gonna be tough to get through."

Ex-NEVERMORE guitarist Jeff Loomis wrote: "Truly a sad day today to learn about the passing of my dear friend and fellow bandmate Tim Calvert. Not just an incredible guitarist and songwriter, but one who followed his love and passion of aviation to become an airline captain. To this day, I'm blown away by all of his accomplishments. ALS is a horrible disease and took my friend away far too soon. May you rest in peace, Tim."

SIRENIA To Release Next Album In October

SIRENIA To Release Next Album In October

Norwegian/French symphonic metallers SIRENIA will release their as-yet-untitled ninth full-length album this fall via Napalm Records. The follow-up to 2016's "Dim Days Of Dolor" will mark the band's second LP to feature French vocalist Emmanuelle Zoldan, who replaced Spanish singer Ailyn Giménez García two years ago.

SIRENIA guitarist Morten Veland spoke about the band's upcoming disc in a brand new interview with Heavy New York. He said (see video below): "As soon as we get back home from this [North American] tour" — which ends on April 29 in Brooklyn, New York — "we'll get into the studio and start recording. And the date is set for 26th of October. That's when we aim to release the next album."

Prior to the recording of "Dim Days Of Dolor", SIRENIA collaborated with Zoldan on choir vocals on all its albums except its 2002 debut, "At Sixes And Sevens". She also did some lead vocals on SIRENIA's cover version of Leonard Cohen's "First We Take Manhattan" on the 2004 EP "Sirenian Shores".

Emmanuelle told Femme Metal Webzine about her musical background: "I learned the piano when I was child, and I tried drums later, but I had to admit very fast that I was better in singing. So I began to sing in a pop/rock band as the lead singer. We made some really nice shows, and won some competitions. It was a really nice period of creativity and concerts we did in the same time we did our studies at the university. Then I decided to go the conservatory to learn a good vocal technique, and after some years of work and two years of specialization, I began a career… in opera. It was a bit unexpected, but life can be really strange sometimes. But during my operatic career, I never stopped doing a lot of other music projects, in different styles (rock, jazz, R&B), creating music, making concerts and recording metal albums for many bands, choirs parts and also lead vocals."

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE Singer Is Resting After Undergoing Vocal Cord Surgery

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE Singer Is Resting After Undergoing Vocal Cord Surgery

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE singer Jesse Leach is resting after undergoing vocal cord surgery.

The procedure was apparently performed earlier today (Monday, April 30) at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City by Dr. Peak Woo, a board-certified otolaryngologist with special interests in the voice, voice disorders, and surgery designed specifically to improve the voice.

Leach posted a post-operation update on his Instagram account, saying that the "surgery went well" and thanking "Dr. Woo and the amazing staff at Mount Sinai hospital." He added: "Time for rest and recovery. That was a surreal day. I'm glad it's over and I'm headed home."

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE was forced to cancel seven shows in late April and early May as a result of Jesse's surgery.

The band has spent the last few months working on a new album for a tentative late 2018 release.

The follow-up to 2016's "Incarnate" will mark KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's third full-length effort since the return of Leach, who rejoined the group in 2012.

Leach appeared on KILLSWITCH's self-titled debut and sophomore album, "Alive Or Just Breathing", before exiting the band. Howard Jones took over on vocals for "The End of Heartache", "As Daylight Dies" and the 2009 self-titled set before being dismissed from the group six years ago.

WHITESNAKE's Flesh & Blood' Album Pushed Back To 2019

WHITESNAKE's Flesh & Blood' Album Pushed Back To 2019

WHITESNAKE has pushed back the projected release date of its new album, "Flesh & Blood", to next year.

The band's record label, Frontiers Music Srl, issued a statement earlier today blaming the delay on "technical issues."

"It is with great disappointment that, following technical issues whilst mixing the new 'Flesh & Blood' album, WHITESNAKE and Frontiers have mutually agreed to delay the album release until early 2019," the statement reads.

"The release of the new studio record is to coincide with the WHITESNAKE 'Flesh & Blood' world tour.

"WHITESNAKE would like to express their sincere regrets to our fans all over the world for any and all disappointment and promise the album and tour will be worth waiting for."

Frontman David Coverdale recently told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation" that "Flesh & Blood" will "be the best WHITESNAKE album. I know that's clichéd stuff, but I know what I'm talking about. I should do after almost 50 years," he explained.

According to Coverdale, the new disc "has all the necessary WHITESNAKE elements that I need to call it WHITESNAKE, but with a vibrant, fresh coat of paint." The record will mark the first time he has written with WHITESNAKE guitarists Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra. "The longest-standing member of WHITESNAKE, Reb Beach, [he and I had] never written together until this project," he said. "So it's a family affair. It really is cool. I'm very excited for people to hear it."

Coverdale revealed that recording sessions for the new WHITESNAKE album were halted while he recovered from an illness last year. "I got that horrible H3 flu, which took me out for, I think, about six weeks before I started to feel like myself again," he said. "It was horrifying. It was that strain of flu that the anti-flu vaccination didn't cover. It was just an evil, evil, evil strain of flu."

WHITESNAKE filmed a music video for a new song called "Shut Up & Kiss Me" on March 10. "It's a kick-ass song; you're gonna love it," Coverdale told "Trunk Nation". "But there's gonna some real fun elements paying respect and nod to WHITESNAKE's past, but certainly not as dark and as gritty as [WHITESNAKE's] 'Burn' video [from 'The Purple Album']."

WHITESNAKE will embark on the "Juke Box Heroes Tour" this summer with FOREIGNER and Jason Bonham.

WHITESNAKE's latest studio disc, 2015's "The Purple Album", was billed as "a re-imagination of classic songs from Coverdale's time as the lead singer for DEEP PURPLE's Mark III and Mark IV studio albums." Coverdale was DEEP PURPLE's frontman from late 1973 to early 1976 and sang on the albums "Burn", "Stormbringer" and "Come Taste The Band".

QUIET RIOT Covers AC/DC's 'Highway To Hell' At Italy's FRONTIERS ROCK FESTIVAL (Video)

QUIET RIOT Covers AC/DC's 'Highway To Hell' At Italy's FRONTIERS ROCK FESTIVAL (Video)

QUIET RIOT played a cover version of the AC/DC classic "Highway To Hell" during the Frankie Banali-led band's April 28 appearance at the Frontiers Rock Festival in Milan, Italy. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below. The concert was filmed for a forthcoming DVD.

Asked by Italy's Linea Rock what he would say to anyone claiming that the group's current lineup is not the "real QUIET RIOT," the drummer said: "I think first of all, it's important for everybody to understand that I have been involved with QUIET RIOT since 1980. The bass player that's with us, Chuck Wright, has been a part of QUIET RIOT on and off since we recorded 'Metal Health'. Alex Grossi, our guitarist, has been in the band for 14 years. The new singer is James Durbin, who was on 'American Idol' during the tenth season. I think it's also important to understand that in the history of QUIET RIOT, there have been nearly 40 different members. It hasn't just been myself and Rudy Sarzo, who is my dearest and closest friend and a big supporter of me doing QUIET RIOT, and Kevin DuBrow, who of course passed away, and Carlos [Cavazo]. That was the iconic lineup, but if you look at any band these days, they're not all original members either because people have left, people have passed away, but you're going to get a wonderful representation of QUIET RIOT."

Durbin told the Noise Pollution web site that he has been embraced by QUIET RIOT fans so far. "The reception has been all good," he said. "I haven't encountered a single unsatisfied fan at any of the gigs we've done together, which is pretty awesome. It's a non-stop, in-your-face, nostalgic 75-minute rock and roll show, so there's no phoning it in. If I didn't want to be on that stage singing these songs, I wouldn't, and I think the fans get that energy from us. Because we certainly get that energy back from them."

He went on to say that he keeps to DuBrow's musical vision while singing QUIET RIOT's classic songs. "I stay pretty true to the way Kevin DuBrow did it for all those years," James said. "I personally love watching QUIET RIOT's set from the US Festival in '83. It was raw, live and real, and if it worked then, why change it?"

QUIET RIOT's latest album, "Road Rage" — the band's first with Durbin — was released last August via Frontiers Music Srl.

Durbin, who became known as the "metal guy" on 2011's season of "American Idol" after performing "Living After Midnight" and "Breaking The Law" with JUDAS PRIEST, hooked up with QUIET RIOT after the dismissal of Seann Nicols (a.k.a. Sheldon Tarsha; formerly of ADLER'S APPETITE). Nicols was with QUIET RIOT for just a few months, but long enough to record the vocals for an early version of "Road Rage".

DELAIN To Release New EP In The Fall

DELAIN To Release New EP In The Fall

Dutch metallers DELAIN will issue a new EP in the fall via Napalm Records. The band will promote the EP's release by playing two intimate headlining shows on in October.

Oct. 11 - Live Music Hall - Cologne, Germany

Oct. 12 - Patronaat - Haarlem, Netherlands

DELAIN is scheduled to make appearances at several European festivals this year and embark on a South American tour with NIGHTWISH.

As previously reported, DELAIN is working on material for the follow-up to 2016's "Moonbathers" album. "We're writing," keyboardist Martijn Westerholt told Heavy New York before a recent concert on the band's North American tour as the support act for KAMELOT. "Right now, we're not, because we're touring the U.S. and Canada, of course. But when we're back [from the road], we will continue writing. It's a little bit quiet on purpose, because we wanna focus on writing. And the plan is to release [the new album] next year, so let's hope it works out."

Last year, Westerholt told music journalist Joel Gausten that DELAIN would spend most of 2018 away from the road as the band works on its next disc. He also confirmed that DELAIN's next album will mark the first time guitarist Merel Bechtold will be involved with one of the band's full-length recordings from the start of the creative process. "That's true, but in our case, it's never a big issue," he said. "To be frank, [singer] Charlotte [Wessels], [studio collaborator] Guus [Eikens] and I already do everything, and we do try — and are very open — to welcome band members to participate on it. But this train is rolling with or without them — preferably with them. But for us, it's not a big issue. We do like to have them involved and stimulate that. For example, Timo [Somers, guitar] did a lot of guitar arrangement on our previous album. I don't think people will hear a big difference. With all due respect to Merel — because she's great — it's not the way DELAIN works, so to say. But I do hope that she will contribute, and she surely has the talent for it. She's very creative, so let's see what happens."

DELAIN spent much of 2016 and 2017 celebrating its tenth anniversary — from the release of "Moonbathers" and an anniversary edition of its debut disc, "Lucidity", to extensive headline tours across Europe and North America to gracing some of the world's biggest festival stages — and capped it off with the release of its first-ever live DVD/Blu-ray package.

Last fall, DELAIN completed the "Danse Macabre" tour, featuring special guest and frequent collaborator Marco Hietala from NIGHTWISH on all dates.

GUNS N' ROSES: Mysterious 'Appetite For Destruction' Web Site Launched; Billboard Spotted In London

GUNS N' ROSES: Mysterious 'Appetite For Destruction' Web Site Launched; Billboard Spotted In London

A newly launched web site, GNR.FM, appears to be teasing an upcoming product or event related to GUNS N' ROSES' classic "Appetite For Destruction" album. The site, which is registered by Universal Music Group, is displaying the message "DESTRUCTION IS COMING" along with the #AppetiteForDestruction hashtag. In addition, a billboard featuring five skulls — each representing one of the classic GN'R members from the "Appetite For Destruction" cover — has popped up in the Camden area of London and is also promoting the GNR.FM site.

There is speculation among GN'R fans that "Appetite For Destruction" will be reissued in a special deluxe edition featuring lots of bonus material, although this has not yet been corroborated by an official source.

"Appetite for Destruction" was certified in September 2008 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for U.S. sales in excess of 18 million copies. The LP has reportedly accumulated worldwide sales in excess of 28 million since its 1987 release.

The album's original cover, based on the Robert Williams painting "Appetite for Destruction", depicted a robot rapist about to be punished by a metal avenger. After several music retailers refused to stock the album, they compromised and put the controversial cover art inside, replacing it with a cover depicting a cross and skulls of the five band members (designed by Billy White Jr., originally as a tattoo), each skull representing one member of the band: Izzy Stradlin, top skull; Steven Adler, left skull; Axl Rose, center skull; Duff McKagan, right skull; and Slash, bottom skull. The photographs used for the back of the album and liner notes were taken by Robert John.

Adler recently said that both he and Stradlin are "heartbroken" that they're not part of the GUNS N' ROSES reunion tour.

Although he wasn't included in the lineup that launched the "Not In This Lifetime" trek in 2016, Adler rejoined GUNS N' ROSES at several shows on the tour, including three stops on the U.S. leg and one gig in Buenos Aires, Argentina, playing drums on "Out Ta Get Me" and "My Michelle".

In February 2017, Adler revealed to podcaster Mitch Lafon that he was originally supposed to appear at more than just a handful of shows on the GUNS N' ROSES reunion trek. He claimed that he expected to play all the "Appetite For Destruction" material during the entire tour, only to be told he was out after he hurt his back during rehearsals.

It was rumored that Stradlin turned down a five-figure fee to play with GUNS N' ROSES at the April 2016 reunion shows. The guitarist later tweeted about the dispute, writing that the band didn't want to "split the loot equally."

GUNS N' ROSES will return in June for a seven-week European jaunt, but the band's plans until then, and beyond that, remain unknown for now. The three core members — Rose, Slash and McKagan — have not given a single interview together.

What the hell? What is happening? New billboard in Camden, could this mean an original linup tour for guns n’ roses? Let’s hope so! Would be seriously EPIC! #appetitefordestruction #GNR #GunsNRoses #Slash #AxlRose #StevenAdler #DuffMcKagan #IzzyStradlin #MakeThisHappen #SuperEpic pic.twitter.com/45WREkVMOM— Tom Moeyaert (@slashtom1) April 29, 2018

A PERFECT CIRCLE's "Eat The Elephant", the Maynard James Keenan- and Billy Howerdel-led rock band's return release following a 14-year gap between new albums, debuted atop numerous Billboard charts, grabbing the No. 1 spot on the Rock, Independent and Alternative Albums charts, a No. 2 entry on the Top Current Albums chart (for pure album sales) and a No. 3 album debut on the Billboard 200. This is the band's fourth consecutive studio album to have debuted in the Top 5 on the Billboard 200.

A PERFECT CIRCLE kicked off release week with a rare fan forum, taking questions via a live-streamed Q&A from Las Vegas, which was followed on Monday by a "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" performance of "TalkTalk" and "So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish". In the midst of the release-week activities, the band also announced a new round of tour dates for both the U.S. and Europe.

While "Eat The Elephant" was made available in the traditional incarnations (digital/CD, various vinyl colorways), it received a special treatment as part of a deluxe box set, with Sundance award-winning filmmaker Steven Sebring ("Horses: Patti Smith And Her Band", "Dream Of Life") creating the world's first hologram album. The 58-minute hologram, which unfolds through the eyes of a young girl over the 12-song album arc, reveals itself when fans place the prism on their smartphones and enter a special code. The box set can be ordered via the A PERFECT CIRCLE store.

"Having Maynard and Billy's trust to create this for A PERFECT CIRCLE was a true artist's dream," said Sebring. "Their 14-year break allowed technology to catch up with their groundbreaking music and gave me the chance to apply new ideas of dimensional capture to this stunning album."
