Ex-OVERKILL Guitarist BOBBY GUSTAFSON Slams Former Bandmates, Says Upcoming DVD Is A 'Piece Of S**t'Former OVERKILL guitarist Bobby Gustafson says that fans shouldn't buy the band's upcoming "Live In Overhausen" DVD and Blu-Ray because he is "not getting a dime" from the release.
Due on May 18 via Nuclear Blast, "Live In Overhausen" was recorded two years earlier in Oberhausen, Germany, where OVERKILL celebrated the 25th anniversary of "Horrorscope" and 30th anniversary of "Feel The Fire" by performing both albums in their entirety.
Gustafson joined OVERKILL in 1982 and played on the group's first four albums — "Feel The Fire" (1985), "Taking Over" (1987), "Under The Influence" (1988) and "The Years Of Decay" (1989) — before being shown the door in 1990 amid growing tension between him and OVERKILL bassist D.D. Verni.
After Nuclear Blast announced the details of "Live In Overhausen" in a press release on Friday (March 16), Gustafson took to his personal Facebook page to slam his former bandmates, once again accusing them of not giving him his rightful share of OVERKILL's royalties for the songs that he was part of creating and recording.

Bobby posted the "Live In Overhausen" cover image and wrote in an accompanying note: "What are they celebrating: The fact that none of the other members even played on these albums. The fact that they will both make all the money" — apparently referring to Verni and vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth — "and not the other three or the fact that they think they don't have to pay me. Don't buy this piece of shit, people. I'm not getting a dime."
Gustafson previously told Metal Rules that he was never officially asked to leave OVERKILL. "It wasn't something where they came out and said, 'Hey, you're fired!' It was more of a verbal fight between me and D.D. about doing a show where they wanted to do it strictly for money and I didn't want to do it because we had just sold out Studio 54 in New York, our biggest show, and they wanted to do a Halloween show that was kind of goofy," he claimed.
In a 2016 interview with Rock & Metal In My Blood, Gustafson said that he would "never play with [OVERKILL] again. They stole from me back then and continue to steal from me till this day," he explained. "They haven't paid me for the use of my songs for the past 30 years and now they are even re-recording 'Feel The Fire' live. I've never seen a band claim so adamantly that they don't live in the past, yet most of their set list is from the first four albums I was on. They have had so many albums after me and never play songs from them. I just can't play happily with backstabbers and liars."
Regarding the fact that OVERKILL replaced him with two guitarists, Gustafson told Noisecreep in a 2011 interview: "Some might say it was like a compliment. I would tend to agree. Plus every album after me, when they had two guitar players in the lineup, never topped what I did. 'The Years Of Decay' is still our best-selling album and I had a really short time to write it. I did it short breaks within a six-month period. D.D. had years to put together their next album ['Horrorscope']. So his opinion that two guitarists would make them heavier failed."
Ellsworth told Invisible Oranges that OVERKILL's decision to replace Gustafson with two guitarists was primarily due to the fact that the group wanted to do something different. "Bobby left the band, and it wasn't the most amicable circumstances," he explained. "There are different stories about what happened, but I wanted to play with D.D. We started the band and I trusted his ethic and songwriting. We knew if we replaced Bobby with one guitarist, we'd get compared to what we were. So, it seemed like to logical thing to bring in two players. We didn't want anyone to say, 'Bobby was better than this new guy.' And we wanted to perform old stuff with two guitars to keep in fresh. We realized that change isn't a bad thing."
OVERKILL's current lineup includes Verni and Ellsworth alongside guitarists Dave Linsk and Derek Tailer, plus the band's latest addition, drummer Jason Bittner.
Gustafson is involved in a new band called SATANS TAINT, which released its latest album, "Axe To The Head Of My Enemies", last year.
For more information on SATANS TAINT, visit the band's Facebook page.
What are they celebrating: The fact that none of the other members even played on these albums. The fact that they will...

BLACK VEIL BRIDES: 'When They Call My Name' Video ReleasedLos Angeles rockers BLACK VEIL BRIDES have released the official music video for the song "When They Call My Name". The track is taken from the band's fifth album, "Vale", which was released on January 12 via Lava/Universal Republic. The follow-up to BLACK VEIL BRIDES' 2014 self-titled effort was produced by John Feldmann at his Southern California studio.
BLACK VEIL BRIDES vocalist Andy Biersack told Kerrang! magazine about "When They Call My Name": "This is a song that's really dear to me. It's about dealing with my anxiety and having my wife helping me to do that and helping me through these scenarios. On this album, I found myself writing more and more honestly and openly about different sorts of issues."
Biersack told HMV.com that the decision to work with Feldmann again was an easy one. "John is one of my best friends and there's no argument about what impact he's had on us," he said. "He produced the record that's done the most for us and it felt really comfortable, especially as we were going back to the story of Wretched and Divine, so it seemed logical to go back to John."
Regarding the making of "Vale", the singer told AltPress: "I think [the record is] an accurate description of how I handle things artistically. Anytime I've had any real struggle in my life that I've been involved in, whether it's a more personal or societal thing, I tend to want to write a story about it. 'Wretched And Divine' was a response to that feeling of being a schtick band that for five and a half years, people considered an afterthought, as well as the amount of criticism that we faced. That faded into this weird, dreamy, ethereal concept record. My emotional stimulus to societal issues is to write a story, something that is a bit more narrative-driven and not so punch-you-in-the-head. It's probably a reflection of my personality, anyway. Unless I'm inebriated, I'm not really yelling at people. [Laughs] To me, a song like 'Dead Man Walking' is very aggressive, but it's more about content and less about the guitar crunch."

PUREST OF PAIN Feat. DELAIN Members: 'Vessels' Video"Vessels", the new video from the Dutch melodic death metal band PUREST OF PAIN, can be seen below. The song is taken from the group's debut album, "Solipsis", which was released on March 1. The follow-up to the 2013 single "Momentum" and 2011 EP "Revelations In Obscurity" has been made available on CD, vinyl plus as a digital release.
Led by guitarist and main songwriter Merel Bechtold (DELAIN), who also performs in much-respected bands MAYAN and THE GENTLE STORM, the energetic quintet from Holland, which now includes DELAIN drummer Joey de Boer, combines Scandinavian metal influences with groove, ambiance, tone and melody.
"Solipsis" was seven years in the making, from the writing process up to the final mastering to launching a successful online crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo (raising over 18,000 euros), along with increasing its funds through live performances, which saw PUREST OF PAIN open for such bands as OPETH, TEXTURES, SUICIDE SILENCE, UNEARTH and ATTACK ATTACK! plus an unforgettable slot at Wacken Open Air in 2014. The effort contains 14 tracks of brutality blended with groove and emotion produced by Bechtold with recording done at Mantis Audio Studio (DELAIN) and mastering by Jens Bogren (OPETH, ARCH ENEMY, SOILWORK).
Bechtold comments: "'Solipsis' is a guitar-oriented record. It has been recorded as organic as possible: partly at home, partly at Mantis Audio Studio. The song 'E.M.D.R.' is written by fellow guitarist Michael van Eck. All the other songs were summoned by myself. The lyrics are written by vocalist J.D. Kaye. And even though the music is at times technical and challenging, it's undeniably driven by relentless groove, enhanced by hugely melodic passages, wonderful tone and moments of ambient clarity."

TRIBULATION: 'Lady Death' Performance VideoSwedish quartet TRIBULATION has released a performance video for "Lady Death", filmed and recorded earlier this year at Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen, Germany during the band's tour with ARCH ENEMY, WINTERSUN and JINJER. The footage was filmed and edited by Dirk Behlau of Beastwood Films and was recorded live with no overdubs or re-recordings.
"Lady Death" is taken from TRIBULATION's latest album, "Down Below", which was released on January 26 via Century Media Records. The follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2015 release "The Children Of The Night" features artwork crafted by TRIBULATION guitarist Jonathan Hultén.
Guitarist Adam Zaars told Distorted Sound about the making of "Down Below": "In TRIBULATION, the writing of the songs has primarily been done by me and Jonathan [Andersson, vocals], and that was the case this time as well. I think we both 'always' write music in a way; it doesn't really stop at any time even though it fluctuates. What I mean by this is that the seeds of the songs, be it riffs or melodies or just ideas of some kind or another, are being collected by us at any time. The seeds for these songs mostly come from this past touring cycle, and a couple of Jonathan's songs already had a lot of meat on their bones over a year ago. The intense part of the composing, the puzzling together of the bits and pieces, started in the early months of [2017], specifically in April for me. Jonathan worked mostly on his own, making demos at home and sending them to us for feedback, and then he would change something or other because of that and we would get to hear it again, and so on. I have mostly written the music on my own in the past as well, but because of various things, I wanted the help of Johannes and Oscar [Leander, drums] this time. I personally suck when it comes to musical software of any kind and Oscar could help me with that, and the fact that they are both drummers really helped that part as well. It was also nice to get their personal input right away! We actually intentionally left a lot of the songs unfinished in order to have Martin Ehrencrona's, our producer, take on it as well, which proved to be very valuable. We started the recording of the album in the beginning of August in Soundtrade Studios for the drums and went from there to Martin's Studio Cobra and stayed there till October. We wanted to go there because we had been there for a few days for the recording of all the 'additional instruments' on 'The Children Of The Night' and really liked it there. It's kind of being like a kid in a toy store because of all the cool instruments that currently call that studio their home."

Legendary Drummer Brothers CARMINE And VINNY APPICE: Lyric Video For 'Sinister' Title TrackThe official lyric video for "Sinister", the title track of the first joint studio album by Carmine and Vinny Appice, can be seen below. The disc was released last October through SPV/Steamhammer as CD digipack, double gatefold vinyl, download and stream.
You're unlikely to find a phenomenon like Carmine and Vinny Appice a second time in the history of rock music. For more than forty years, the two brothers have been among the most sought-after and renowned rock drummers worldwide. Carmine and Vinny (each of them on his own) can be heard on numerous legendary albums and have toured countless times with some of the world's greatest acts. Carmine embarked on his musical path in the 1960s with the unforgotten VANILLA FUDGE, manning in the course of his illustrious career the drums for superstars such as Rod Stewart and Ozzy Osbourne, among others. His brother Vinny, who is eleven years his junior, looks back on an equally spectacular career, having worked with acts such as BLACK SABBATH, HEAVEN & HELL and DIO, among others. With the exception of the live album "Drum Wars - Live!" (2014), there has been no direct collaboration between the two so far. That's about to change!
"Sinister" was recorded with the support of a number of prestigious guests. Vinny says: "As Ringo said: with a little help from our friends."
"Sinister" consists of a total of thirteen tracks, recorded by Carmine and Vinny together with distinguished colleagues. "Killing Floor" and "Future Past" feature the wonderful Craig Goldy (together with bassist Tony Franklin), Franklin resurfacing, together with Paul Shortino, on "Suddenly" and on "You Got Me Running". Shortino also lends his awesome vocals to "War Cry" and the programmatic "Monsters And Heroes", the latter also featuring BULLETBOYS guitarist Mick Sweda, while Shortino teams up with WHITESNAKE stringsman Joel Hoekstra on "War Cry". Talking of vocals: "Sinister", "Danger" (bass: Phil Soussan), "In The Night" (guitar: Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal) and "Sabbath Mash" (guitar: Erik Turner, keyboards: Erik Norlander) are all sung by Jim Crean, while Chas West recorded the vocal parts for "Killing Floor", Scotty Bruce featuring on "Future Past" and Robin McAuley on "Riot". The biggest surprise of all: Carmine himself doubles as vocalist on "You Got Me Running". Vinny says: "Carmine has been singing lead and background for years. He's a very good singer and I"m glad he sang one number on this record."

Work on "As Long As I Have You" was started shortly after the Top 5 gold-selling "Going Back Home" was released and continued during breaks on THE WHO's record-breaking 50th-anniversary tour "The Who Hits 50".
The album is a mixture of tracks such as "Certified Rose" and the soulful ballad "Always Heading Home" along with songs that have inspired Daltrey over the years, including Nick Cave's "Into My Arms", "You Haven't Done Nothing" by Stevie Wonder, Stephen Stills's "How Far" and the title track originally recorded by Garnet Mimms in 1964; the year that Daltrey, Townshend, Entwistle and Moon changed their name from THE HIGH NUMBERS and became THE WHO.
Roger Daltrey on "As Long As I Have You": "This is a return to the very beginning, to the time before Pete [Townshend] started writing our songs, to a time when we were a teenage band playing soul music to small crowds in church halls. That's what we were, a soul band. And now, I can sing soul with all the experience you need to sing it. Life puts the soul in. I've always sung from the heart but when you're 19, you haven't had the life experience with all its emotional trials and traumas that you have by the time you get to my age. You carry all the emotional bruises of life and when you sing these songs, those emotions are in your voice. You feel the pain of a lost love. You feel it and you sing it and that's soul. For a long time, I've wanted to return to the simplicity of these songs, to show people my voice, a voice they won't have heard before. It felt like the right time. It's where I am, looking back to that time, looking across all those years but also being here, now, in the soulful moment."
Roger will headline the Royal Albert Hall on March 22 in aid of The Teenage Cancer Trust.

Germany's PULVER Streaming New Track "Howl"German classic metal hybrid Pulver will release their self-titled debut 7” on April 20th via Gates Of Hell Records, a sub-label of Cruz Del Sur Music. Listen to the track "Howl" below.
Recorded by Heiner Kunkel at Dreiklang Audio in the band's hometown of Aschaffenburg, the 7" was mixed at Big Snuff Studio in Berlin by Richard Behrens. The recording took place roughly a year after Pulver's 2016 formation, showcasing a band adept at harnessing the rawness of NWOBHM with the melody and power of traditional and progressive metal.
"Our origin is pretty basic," notes vocalist David Fröhlich. "There isn't really a huge hard rock/heavy metal scene in a small city like ours, so everyone pretty much knew each other anyway. One day in late 2016, we decided to start jamming and pretty soon noticed that everything fits together quite well, so we continued until the point where we found the songs presentable enough to release a demo and here we are now!"
Pulver plans on following up the release of the 7” with the recording of their first proper full-length, along with other activities, according to Fröhlich. "We're gonna play a lot of shows, meet new people on the road and have some fun!"
Tracklisting:

Eyes Of The Sun was conceived in early 2007 by bassist/vocalist Jeff Blanchard. Long-time friend Miguel De Jesus Jr. joined the ranks with Jeff a few months later on guitar. Within a few years, and after a couple of past members on second guitar and drums, Chris O'Neil joined as the permanent drummer. As a trio, they performed countless shows over the past 10 years, delivering their unique brand of doom metal - which leaves listeners with a range of emotions, that the band themselves then experience and extract from. The band explains: "It is known throughout the laws of science and nature that the sun creates and sustains life...Now it stands witness to the atrocities, depletion and vile consumption manifested by mankind, which it originally sustained life for. In our way, we portray what is seen through the Eyes Of The Sun."

KING GOAT Streaming “Doldrum Sentinels” Lyric VideoAcclaimed progressive doom-merchants King Goat have streamed a new lyric video. “Doldrum Sentinels” is the first listen from their much-anticipated new LP Debt Of Aeons.
Debt Of Aeons will be released on April 20th via Aural Music, with artwork by acclaimed artist Travis Smith (Opeth, Iced Earth, Katatonia and many more).
In the band's own words, "the album is, in many ways, a reflection of the world in which it was conceived; the result of personal mental decline and the resultant pessimistic view of our species. This negativity permeates the record at an atomic level, seeping from between the riffs and spilling like bile from the lyrics themselves. Our sound further expands on the journey that Conduit began, exploring a multitude of paths to do justice to our vision. Debt Of Aeons is upon us and we're proud to release this record."
Tracklisting:
“Rapture”
“Eremite’s Rest”

Italy’s FALLEN ANGELS Join Sliptrick RecordsItalian glam rockers Fallen Angels have joined Sliptrick Records.
Fallen Angels were formed in 2011 from the creative minds of Matthew Ice and Ste Wizard. They started life as a cover band playing a style of rock music that was big in the eighties, glam rock. The band are chiefly influenced by such luminaries as Motley Crue, Poison, Ratt, Europe, Aerosmith and many others. In addition to the style of music, the group have gone to great lengths to revive the true atmosphere of concerts from that period with related costumes and scenography that, over the years, have made this rock genre exciting and captivating. With the entry in 2014 of the new frontman Matty Mannant and the drummer Luke Gyzz, the band delved deeper into their own ‘80s sound and began devoting themselves to writing and performing their own tracks.
Fallen Angels spent 2017 perfecting their first full debut album, Even Priest Knows. This is a record that pays homage to the ‘80s, giving a rebirth to the glam style of music whilst adding an original and versatile touch with different musical nuances. All this without ever abandoning the rock vein that distinguishes it.
Even Priest Knows will be released on April 30th.

GRAVESHADOW Streaming New Song "Doorway To Heaven"; New Live Dates ConfirmedSacramento-based quintet Graveshadow - who deftly mix symphonic/gothic metal with elements of doom, thrash and epic progressive power metal - have released a riveting new track from their forthcoming M-Theory Audio debut, Ambition's Price, due out April 13th. The song “Doorway To Heaven” can be heard below. The album is available for pre-order here.
Says vocalist Heather Michele, “When the music for the song was completed, it brought to me feelings of adventure and mysticism. I was reminded of the film Stargate from the '90s and based the lyrics off of that. The odd yet compelling combination of ancient Egyptian imagery with a sci-fi twist has been a favourite of mine for years. It was only a matter of time before we included this tale in our catalog.”
“Doorway To Heaven” - which is also now available digitally for stream or download at iTunes, Spotify, Bandcamp and other platforms - marks the second advance taste of Ambition's Price. Last month, the group released a lyric video for the new song “Widow and the Raven,” which can be seen below. A music video for a third song was filmed last week and will premiere closer to the album's release.
The stunning and detailed cover art was created by Serbian fantasy graphic designer Dusan Markovic (Jag Panzer, Seven Kingdoms, Mystic Prophecy), while the album was produced and mixed by Armand John Anthony (Night Demon, The Fucking Wrath, Gygax), and mastered by Colin Davis at Imperial Mastering (Deeds of Flesh, Decrepit Birth, Origin).
“The album title and artwork were directly inspired by events that occurred within Graveshadow over the past few years,” explains the band. “With all the incredible experiences that have come with the evolution of our musical family, a great deal of sacrifice has been given by every member of the band in the pursuit of our dreams. Though the price of our ambition still weighs heavy in our hearts, we are proud of what we have accomplished with this album and are excited by what the future may hold.”
Ambition’s Price - the follow-up to the group's 2015 debut, Nocturnal Resurrection - features Michele’s powerful vocals that range from operatic highs to unearthly growls backed by crushing guitars, beautiful keyboard melodies, thundering bass, and earth-shattering drums creating a rich and dynamic atmosphere that is ripe for storytelling. Whether it is a tale of personal struggle or of fantastical creatures, the listener is sure to find themselves immersed in a world apart.
Having previously toured with the likes of Arkona, Anvil, Night Demon and Unleash The Archers, Graveshadow is poised and ready to leave a lasting impact within the metal community. With an electrifying stage show and a sound as large as the Dragons of Westeros, they are as talented as they are unforgettable.
“Widow And The Raven” lyric video:
Graveshadow will perform the new songs live next month when they hit the road for a string of West Coast dates with the Norwegian gothic metal act Sirenia and Canada’s Threat Signal. The group, who just played a successful show in their native Sacramento alongside Iced Earth, has also announced a hometown acoustic performance at Dimple Records (Arden Way location) on Record Store Day, April 21st. A local record-release show will take place later that night at The Boardwalk.

WE SELL THE DEAD Feat. IN FLAMES, Ex-HIM, FIREWIND Members: 'Trust' Video ReleasedThe official music video for the song "Trust" from WE SELL THE DEAD can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's debut album, "Heaven Doesn't Want You And Hell Is Full", which was released on February 23 via earMUSIC.
Revolving around Niclas Engelin (IN FLAMES, ENGEL), DRÖMRIKET's Jonas Slättung, Gas Lipstick (former HIM drummer) and the voice of Apollo Papathanasio (SPIRITUAL BEGGARS, FIREWIND), WE SELL THE DEAD goes beyond the strains of conventional storytelling and creates a multi-media experience of premium-quality heavy metal music embedded in visually stimulating and atmospheric visuals.
Engelin told Dead Rhetoric about WE SELL THE DEAD's musical and lyrical approach: "This is a band of friends and musicians who want to do something different and dare to do so. It was the main priority to do something different coming from us and to turn some heads with our songs. We basically do what we love and we feel so fortunate to not have any boundaries or secret map. We just follow our hearts and try to do the best songs we can do and have tons of fun doing it."
He added: "I really wanted to something different and paint with bigger colors and take my time before the chorus kicks in. I just love the Tony Martin era of BLACK SABBATH and MAGNUM's 'On A Storyteller's Night'. I always wanted to try to outdo myself by writing that kind of music with my own way of writing, of course."

UK’s MONUMENT Streaming "Attila" Lyric VideoBritish heavy metal band Monument have released a lyric video for the new single “Attila”; the song is taken from their third studio album Hellhound, to be out on May 25th via ROAR Rock Of Angels Records.
Peter Ellis, the voice of Monument quotes: "Attila was one of these men of history who were more like a forces of nature than human beings and I felt that the music I had for the song fitted him perfectly so I wrote the lyrics based around his story. I am very proud of how this song came together."
The album, consisting of nine plus three bonus tracks of pure British heavy metal, will also be available in a limited 500 copy Boxset version, red, yellow and orange marbled double vinyl and on black vinyl (nine tracks only).
Twin guitar melodies, loud bass tones, thundering drums and soaring tenor vocals are all present in abundance. Lyrically, the album draws inspiration from a variety of sources like history, urban London life, the occult and personal relationships.
Ellis comments: "Hellhound is, in my opinion, the best album we have released so far in our career. The song writing is a lot more mature on this album and the songs are very cohesive. Musically, it is the natural progression of Hair Of The Dog, with lots of twin harmonies, loud lead bass tones etc. Lyrically, I drew inspiration from different sources and situations, like I usually tent to do, so it is a mixture of historical themes, urban London culture as well as some more lighthearted stuff which I do enjoy writing as well. Another big step up was the inclusion of Tony Newton to the team as our producer, which played a very big part in finally being able to capture the real sound of the band on tape and it is something we have always wanted to do. Monument is a ‘live’ band and Tony was able to capture that in a really cool way."
Tony Newton's inclusion as the band's producer has captured the band's real sound for the first time and that sound is unmistakably British. To drop a few more names, the album was engineered by the band's very own guitarist Dan Baune. Produced and mixed by Tony Newton (Iron Maiden - Producer of The Book Of Souls: Live Chapter) at Barnyard Studio, Essex, UK and mastered by Ade Emsley at Table of Tone Mastering.
Hellhound’s artwork, design and layout was done by graphic designer Stan-W Decker (Masterplan, Vanden Plas, Resurrection Kings, Stryper).
The boxset includes:
-Hellhound In Limited Digipack CD

EARTHLESS Release "Volt Rush" Music VideoEarthless have released a video for "Volt Rush", featured on their new full-length album Black Heaven, out now via Nuclear Blast.
The video, which is set in Earthless’ hometown of San Diego, as well as neighbouring Oceanside, was directed by skateboard/visual artist BB Bastidas and features the famed SoCal skateboarder T-Spliff (aka Taylor Smith).
“Stoked to present to you the very first Earthless video, directed by artist BB Bastidas,” said drummer Mario Rubalcaba. We were stoked to work with BB on this as he knows our background as a band and our close roots with skateboarding. His art is amazing and he also has a keen natural eye for film. Having Taylor Smith, aka T-Spliff, in it just makes it even sweeter. He is somewhat of a mythical figure of a skater, an amazing talent but chooses to shred at his own discretion. Those who know, know. This was a blast to be a part of and we hope you enjoy this short high energy rocker that cruises around our hometown of San Diego, and local club, The Casbah.”
Black Heaven was recorded at Rancho de la Luna in Joshua Tree, CA with Dave Catching (Eagles Of Death Metal) handling production. Order here.

"Aliens is one of the songs of the album that stands out the most, both in terms of style and theme. This song is a sci-fi fantasy, me and the band setting out on an interstellar journey. The prechorus is based on an old AoR song I wrote a few years ago and drummer Georg Härnsten Egg made the riff come alive. It was a real team effort and we are all really proud to finally present it to you!" - Linnéa Vikström
The upcoming album Live In Space is a dynamic and musically diversified theme album about the universe, where the ten tracks are beautifully bound together by Linnéa’s enormous vocal range and clear vision. The result is a detailed journey through space and time, that won’t leave anyone unaffected. ‘Live In Space’ is an album where both the music and the lyrics offers you much to discover.
Under the supervision of legendary Swedish sound engineer Lennart Östlund (ABBA, Led Zeppelin), Live In Space was basically recorded completely live. Together with the musicians Georg Härnsten Egg (drums), Jonathan Olsson (bass) and Mano Lewys (guitar), Linnéa Vikström only needed a few recordings per track. That the album - apart from some additional choirs - was recorded live can’t be heard when you listen to the result. On the contrary, Live In Space sounds like the product of immense and costly studio sessions.
Live In Space was probably not what you expected from Linnéa Vikström. But when the singer from Therion makes her solo debut as QFT, with an album wrapped in Lennart Östlund’s marvellous vintage sound, she crushes every border and totally exceeds every expectation.
The absolute greatest albums are those you can discover and re-discover over, and over again. It’s those completely solid records that have so many layers of details, nuances and aspects that you always can notice something completely new.
QFT’s Live In Space is absolutely one of those albums.
More details to follow.

THE CROWN Release Cobra Speed Venom Album; Full Stream AvailableSwedish death metal legends The Crown have released their new album, Cobra Speed Venom, via Metal Blade Records. A full album stream can be found below. Order the album here. BraveWords' review of the album can be found here.
With their motivation at an all-time high, The Crown spent most of 2017 intensely rehearsing 13 new songs. They eventually entered the classic Studio Fredman with Fredrik Nordstrom to record what would become their new album, Cobra Speed Venom. The sound is massive, brutal and a real punch in the face. Extreme speed and aggression mixed with classic heavy metal and rock n' roll, which really shows that The Crown has no boundaries. The apocalyptic theme of the lyrics and music also fits perfectly with the outstanding artwork of Christian Sloan Hall.

RIVERS OF NIHIL Release "A Home" Music Video; New Album Out NowRivers Of Nihil have released a video for "A Home", from their third full-length, Where Owls Know My Name, out now via Metal Blade Records. Order the album at MetalBlade.com and watch the new clip below.
Rivers of Nihil comments: "Once again we have partnered up with the legendary Dave Brodsky and the rest of the fine folks at MyGoodEye Visuals to bring you this video for 'A Home' from our new record Where Owls Know My Name, out today! This video was shot in our hometown of Reading, Pennsylvania, so going along with the song title this video feels very much at home for us. Catch us out on tour for the next five weeks across the US and Canada with Dying Fetus, Thy Art is Murder, Enterprise Earth, and Sanction!"
Where Owls Know My Name reunites Rivers Of Nihil with Monarchy producer Carson Slovak (August Burns Red, The Last Ten Seconds of Life) and Dan Seagrave, the storied artist behind such celebrated album covers as Entombed's Left Hand Path and Suffocation's Effigy of the Forgotten. The result is the Reading, PA quintet's most visceral, accomplished, and satisfying offering to-date.
Guitarist Brody Uttley comments: "This record is Rivers Of Nihil being exactly who we want to be. Many bands get stuck in a comfortable routine of releasing the same album over and over again. Constantly relying on the same familiar formula may work for some bands, but it does not work for us. Music is art, and art is ever-changing. Without change, there is no progress. Without progress, the very fire that powers art and expression will die. This record is the sound of where we come from, where we are, and where we are going."
Adds bassist/vocalist Adam Biggs: "This time around, the lyrics feel a little more personal than on previous albums. The story picks up several millennia after the events of 'Monarchy', where one person still remains alive, chosen by the planet to be the sole intelligent witness of its ultimate fate. But 'Where Owls Know My Name' is less about overarching narrative than our previous albums. The scenario is just a backdrop for the more emotional material we tried to put forth this time around. Ultimately, this is an album about loss, getting older, and reaching a point where death becomes a much more present part of your life."
Tracklisting:
“Cancer / Moonspeak”
“The Silent Life”
“A Home”
“Old Nothing”
“Subtle Change (Including The Forest Of Transition)”

A PERFECT CIRCLE's JAMES IHA To Be Replaced By Ex-FAILURE Guitarist For Upcoming TourAccording to Guitar World, A PERFECT CIRCLE has tapped longtime friend Greg Edwards (ex-FAILURE, AUTOLUX) to fill in for guitarist James Iha (pictured) on tour this spring. Iha — who remains a member of APC — is unable to go on the road with A PERFECT CIRCLE because of his commitments with the recently reunited SMASHING PUMPKINS.
The long-awaited semi-reunion of the original PUMPKINS was made official last month with the announcement of a 36-city North American tour that will begin in Glendale, Arizona on July 12 and wrap up on September 7 in Boise, Idaho.
The show will feature material exclusively off the first five PUMPKINS albums, from their debut "Gish" to the last LP to feature the original lineup, "Machina: The Machines Of God".
Joining the three charter members — frontman Billy Corgan, Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin — will be Jeff Schroeder on guitar and Jack Bates on bass. Founding bassist D'arcy Wretzky will apparently not participate, with Wretzky accusing Corgan of inviting her to join and then later rescinding his offer.
