Norway's Leprous will release their fifth studio album, Malina, on August 25th via InsideOut Music. America's legendary progressive rock band Kansas, will release their new live album Leftoverture Live & Beyond, on November 3rd.  This is the first live album since 2009 for the band that has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, and is famous for classic hits such as "Carry On Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind", to progressive epics like "Miracles Out Of Nowhere".

Leftoverture Live & Beyond, produced by Jeff Glixman, features 19 songs selected from 12 shows recorded during Kansas' Spring 2017 Leftoverture 40th Anniversary Tour. The set list includes classic hits, deep cuts, new songs from the 2016 studio album The Prelude Implicit, and culminates with the band's sextuple-platinum breakthrough album, Leftoverture, performed in its entirety.

Coinciding with the 40th Anniversary of Leftoverture, and the release of The Prelude Implicit, Kansas embarked on their biggest headlining tour in decades. The overwhelming success of that tour led the band, along with Inside Out Music, to release selected songs from the tour as a live album.

"When we saw how much our fans enjoyed the Leftoverture 40th Anniversary Tour shows, we knew we had to record a live album," said Kansas drummer, Phil Ehart. "When it came to finding someone to produce it, we thought the best possible person would be the guy that produced Leftoverture forty years ago. So, we called Jeff Glixman."

"I'm really excited with how this live album sounds," adds producer, Jeff Glixman. "This band is on fire. Producing this live album was truly an undertaking, but I am confident that Kansas fans will enjoy the end result."

Sweden’s Corroded have released a video for the new acoustic version of “A Note To Me”, the opening track of  their upcoming EP, entitled The Nevo Sessions. Watch the clip below.

Finnish death metal masters Purtenance are back with a new release. It's a four-song EP entitled Paradox Of Existence, and it's scheduled for international release on September 12th through Xtreem Music. The new track “Vicious Seeds Of Mortality” is available for streaming below.

After returning to a five-piece lineup, Purtenance began to work on new tunes, which were recorded during the first half of 2017, and will now be released as an EP that follows their trademarked heavy old-school Finnish death metal, for which they've been known since their inception in 1989. The cover artwork was once again created by Chris Moyen, who's done every Purtenance sleeve since their debut album, Member Of Immortal Damnation, in 1992.

Back in February, true Norwegian Balkan metallers Trollfest released their latest album, Helluva, via NoiseArt Records. Today, the band release a video for the song "Hen Of Hades", taken from the album.

French death metal legion, The Walking Dead Orchestra, will release their second full-length, Resurrect, on October 13th via Unique Leader Records.

Issues the band of the self-produced offering, "We conditioned ourselves to unleash our primal influences, it's a back-to-the-roots process with old-school riffs tuned to the more modern sound. We are proud of this combination. Each song has its own identity. We recorded, mixed, and mastered the entire album by ourselves at our own studio, Spike Recording Studio, which allowed us to keep every step of the production process under control. This gave us the time and freedom to really develop our sound. This album imposes an ambiance with many twists and surprises and the songs structures are more mature. This is a new chapter for the band but also for the Architect, the main character of The Walking Dead Orchestra's concept which takes place through a post-apocalyptic world. The artwork reflects The Walking Dead Orchestra's universe and illustrates each situation our main character goes through."

EVANESCENCE has released a reworking of its debut single and global hit, "Bring Me To Life". Taken from the band's next album, "Synthesis", which is due in the autumn, the reworked version of the song strips out the big distorted guitars and rock drums, replacing them with full orchestration in a completely synthetic world of beats and sounds, with help from arranger and composer David Campbell. The original version of "Bring Me to Life" — which featured guest vocals from Paul McCoy of 12 STONES — reached No. 5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and was EVANESCENCE's first U.K. No. 1 single. It was taken from EVANESCENCE's debut album, "Fallen", which has sold more than seventeen million copies worldwide and was certified seven times platinum in the U.S.

"Synthesis" will feature two new EVANESCENCE songs in addition to fan favorites re-recorded with a live orchestra and electronica.

The "Synthesis Live" tour will launch this fall beginning October 14 on the West Coast. Like the album, "Synthesis Live" will feature a reimagining of some of EVANESCENCE's best-loved songs with the spotlight on full orchestra, electronics combined with the band and Amy Lee's virtuoso piano and voice.

"This is a total passion project for me. There are so many layers in our music, underneath the huge drums and guitars," explained Lee. "I've always wanted to shine a light on some of the gorgeous David Campbell arrangements and programming elements in our songs, and that idea snowballed into completely re-doing them with full orchestra, not just strings, elaborate programming and experimentation.

"This will be our first time touring with orchestra and I'm so excited to perform this way-really focus on the vocals, and the emotion and the story we've built over the years. I'm also really excited about the new material on the album. Besides the two new songs, there are some really beautiful instrumental in-between moments. The whole thing flows like a big, dynamic soundtrack."

Lee told Graspop.be about "Synthesis": "It's different in a way that it's still coming from the roots of what EVANESCENCE was conceived to be,. It's really a beautiful project. A lot of our old songs are getting a whole new life in a way where we're getting to experience the focus being this beautiful, full orchestra. It's also a lot of electronic, cool elements — parts that have always been part of our music. It hasn't been full orchestra before — it's just been mainly strings — but just taking it to very beautiful, classical and epic and groovy place. Oh, it feels so good. There's some new stuff on it too, but it's mostly old stuff [reimagined]."

Lee also talked in more detail about the making of "Synthesis", explaining: "As far as the conception, basically, you work in demo land first and just create the arrangements of songs. I went through all the master sessions of, say, 'Bring Me To Life', and [I would] pull out all the stuff and listen to it and then chop it up and decide, 'Oh, maybe this part needs to be longer. Maybe this part at the beginning will be just strings and piano.' Just figure out what you're gonna do and build a map. And working with David Campbell, who has done all the string arrangements for EVANESCENCE for all three albums now doing full orchestra, just going back and forth with him and our producer Will and then each other, just throwing ideas in a Dropbox and basically just playing tennis back and forth for months. We finally recorded the orchestra. It sounds just gorgeous. I can't wait to finish the thing."

REVOLUTION SAINTS, the band featuring Deen Castronovo (JOURNEY, BAD ENGLISH), Doug Aldrich (THE DEAD DAISIES, WHITESNAKE, DIO), and Jack Blades (NIGHT RANGER, DAMN YANKEES), will release its second album, "Light In The Dark", on October 13 via Frontiers Music Srl.

PHIL CAMPBELL AND THE BASTARD SONS (formerly PHIL CAMPBELL'S ALL STARR BAND), the band featuring MOTÖRHEAD guitarist Phil Campbell alongside his sons Todd, Dane and Tyla, plus vocalist Neil Starr, has entered the studio to record its debut full-length album with producer Romesh Dodangoda. PHIL CAMPBELL AND THE BASTARD SONS' last release was a digital-only live EP, "Live At Solothurn", which came out in June. Prior to that, PHIL CAMPBELL AND THE BASTARD SONS released a self-titled debut five-track EP in November via Motörhead Music. It was produced by Todd Campbell at the band's own Stompbox Studios in Wales, U.K. and mixed by MOTÖRHEAD producer Cameron Webb.

Neil Starr recently told Kaaos TV about PHIL CAMPBELL AND THE BASTARD SONS' debut EP: "The reason it's an EP is we can get that done quicker. We wanted to give people some music to hear that was our own music, some music of our own that we can play live as well. So the idea was to get something done as quick as possible. It keeps the fans interested in the band, because there's new songs to keep it fresh. And it's great for us, 'cause we get to write more songs all the time. Todd, who's in the band, has his own recording studio, so it's really easy for us to just go in and do what we wanna do whenever we want, which is great."

Regarding the musical direction of PHIL CAMPBELL AND THE BASTARD SONS' original material, Neil said: "You know what you're gonna get, because Phil Campbell is the riff god. So you hear these MOTÖRHEAD riffs; Phil wrote a lot of those songs. So there's elements of that gonna be coming through in the music. Obviously, personally, I wouldn't ever want to try and be like Lemmy and his style that he does, because that's one person who does that, and that's him. You don't try and do that. I bring my own style to the band, but, obviously, yeah, there's lots of really great riffs in the songs, like you would expect from a band that's got Phil Campbell in it. It's just rock and roll music, I guess."

"Preachers Of Death", the new video from Swedish thrashers THE HAUNTED, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's ninth studio album, "Strength In Numbers", which will be released on August 25 via Century Media. The disc was recorded at Parlour Studios in the U.K. with producer Russ Russell (NAPALM DEATH, DIMMU BORGIR, THE EXPLOITED).

THE HAUNTED stated about the clip, which was produced by Oscar Dziedziela of OD Visual: "'Preachers Of Death' is the third video from the new album 'Strength In Numbers'. It's a stomping number with all the elements of a true THE HAUNTED song. Turn it up and stretch your neck, cause this is a banger."

The artwork for "Strength In Numbers" was once again created by THE HAUNTED's longtime designer Andreas Pettersson.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, LINKIN PARK has received more platinum and multi-platinum sales certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in the wake of singer Chester Bennington's suicide last month. But while eleven of the group's singles all went multi-platinum a couple of weeks ago, this time six of the band's albums have all reached various sales plateaus.

* "Minutes To Midnight" was certified four times platinum. It was previously certified double platinum on November 15, 2007.* "A Thousand Suns" was certified platinum, having previously gone gold on January 11, 2011.* "Hybrid Theory" has been certified eleven times platinum, having previously received a diamond award (ten times platinum) on January 7, 2005.* "Living Things" has been certified platinum, having previously been certified gold on April 3, 2013.* "Meteora" was certified seven times platinum, afer having been certified four times platinum on February 26, 2004.* LINKIN PARK's collaboration album with Jay-Z, "Collision Course", was certified double platinum, having last been certified platinum on July 19, 2005.

Co-frontman Mike Shinoda told The Pulse Of Radio in a 2012 interview why he thought the band has so much staying power while many of their contemporaries faded. "When we look back at it, we've really gotten to a point where we can say, you know, that's fine that things were influential," he said. "We were inspired by somebody else, somebody else was inspired by us. But we owned our thing. And to be able to look at that and say, whatever else happened, that's fine, but when we comes to our sound, we made our sound, we own our sound and we're gonna be comfortable with that — who we are."

Bennington was found dead in his Los Angeles-area home on July 20th. The singer committed suicide by hanging himself.

The singer was buried on July 29 in a private ceremony in Southern California. LINKIN PARK canceled all plans for the immediate future, including a North American tour.

Bleeding Music Records has signed a worldwide deal with Swedish metal band Beyond Visions. 

The second album from Beyond Visions, titled Catch 22, was recorded and mixed at Dugout Productions by Daniel Bergstrand and mastered in Dugout Productions by Lawrence Mackrory. Catch 22 is set to be released globally October 27th.

US heavy metal crew, Power Theory, has recently begun pre-production on the follow-up to their Driven By Fear album with producer / engineer Carlos Alvarez of Dirty Viking Audio, who is also currently playing guitar live with the band.

Guitarist Rob "BB" Ballinger fills in the details: “The goal is to wrap up pre-production sometime in fall 2017 and begin actual album recordings shortly after with a release aimed for spring 2018. Carlos Alvarez, who worked with the band for Driven By Fear and the recently released EP Something Old, Something New & Something F**king LIVE!!! From Europe, will again be producing, recording and mixing. Mastering will most likely again be handled by Brett Caldas-Lima of Tower Studio in France. The as yet untitled follow up will see Power Theory pushing their traditional/power metal style cemented on Driven By Fear even further in terms of heaviness, speed and intricacy, while sacrificing none of their established hallmarks of melodic, anthemic songwriting. Song titles set to appear include "Draugr" and "King Of Lies" with the band shooting for around 10 tracks overall."

Swiss black metal pioneers SAMAEL will release their tenth album, "Hegemony", on October 13 via Napalm Records.

SAMAEL frontman Vorph (real name: Michael Locher) told Serbia's Agoraphobic News about the previously released first single, "Angel Of Wrath": "It is more like a fantasy song, but it's kind of a mix between some deeper meaning, maybe for us, as the name of the band is SAMAEL, it is the angel of wrath. We wanted to have something maybe to connect back to the past and start fresh. That's why we chose that one first. The new album will be more wide than just this song."

Regarding the overall musical direction of "Hegemony", Vorph said: "I think it's kind of wide [sounding]. There's faster songs… probably 'Angel Of Wrath' is one of the heaviest. We have more mid-tempo songs. We try to have variation. I hope it is a varied album."

Founded in 1987 as an old-school black metal act that was influenced by the likes of BATHORY, fellow countrymen CELTIC FROST and VENOM, the brothers Vorph and Xy later developed the band's style further towards a more industrial dark metal sound that found its previous high peak in those legendary albums such as "Passage" and "Eternal".
